Concept: The hero keeps vaguely remembering personal events without being able to identify any of the people or places involved.
They do, however, remember jumping off a cliff and breaking both of their legs when they tried to fly as a kid. And getting in a brawl with an adult over a gummi. And... other stories that raise more questions than answers.
Why isn't anyone laughing with them?

PMD Special Episode 0 Romhack: Secret Cutscene!
NOTE: This post will contain minor spoilers for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky games as well as a romhack based off of it: Special Episode 0: In a Dark Past Well. This wasn't exactly what I expected for my first post, but I sure as hell ain't complaining! I'm making this post since I discovered something that I haven't seen posted anywhere, so I thought I might as well share it. Sorry if it's a little long! First off, a bit of context: Thanks to numerous fanart, I've begun playing a PMD romhack called Special Episode 0: In a Dark Past. It's a romhack of the Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky games specifically, delving deeper into the backstories of two of its characters: Grovyle and Dusknoir. As a massive PMD EoS fan, I've been enjoying it so far! Highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of these games or characters and the writing is great! You can check out the creator's Twitter here, the hack download should be in a pinned post: https://twitter.com/PKMM_ESPEP0 It was when I got to a fight with a Vespiquen and her Combee that I got a little curious. Before I picked up this hack, I'd already watched a short playthrough of it and knew that you were supposed to lose this fight to continue the story (Vespiquen is ridiculously strong and uses Silver Wind, which basically kills you from anywhere). But I wondered if it was possible to beat it. After all, I had a lot of stun seeds by this point, and Duskull knew both Disable and Hypnosis which could stall the Vespiquen.
Tumblr media
So I did. Though I must first confess, I didn't do it 100% legitimately. I don't own a DS, so I play all my games using emulators, including both PMD EoS and this romhack. Thus, I was able to save right before the battle so I wouldn't have to reset and go through the entire dungeon every time I lost. So while I did manage to beat the Vespiquen fair and square from start to finish, I did do a couple resets to save time. But that's not what I made this post for. After beating the Vespiquen, I unlocked a secret cutscene! I haven't seen anyone share this before, so I thought I might as well put this out there for anyone who is curious. For anyone who's read this far, thank you so much, and here it is! (It's quite long at about 7 minutes, but it's totally worth the watch!)
Thanks for reading through this one hell of a first post! Like I said, I really love PMD and from the little I've experienced, this romhack is just as beautifully written. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't! I wonder if I should start posting PMD fanart of my own...

Ooh what’s Darker Destinies sounds interesting!
!! It’s my PMD AU!! It basically serves as a third installment to the PMD Sky plotline since it focuses on Giratina and the Distorted Realm (PMD-verse Distortion World basically lol). It’s got a lot of twists and is actually pretty dark for a PMD AU but it’s one of my all time favorites 🥰 When I first came up with the concept I had just finished watching Made In Abyss for the first time so that influenced it a lot. And it’s perfect bc the dungeon Giratina rules over in Sky is called World Abyss so I was like OH YO I can DEFINITELY use this haha
Long story short Pip gets whisked off to the Distorted Realm as just an extension of her soul, while her body remains in the real world. Chimchar asks Dialga to send him to the future so he can recruit the Future Trio—so they can help him figure out what’s going on with Pip and where she went. Meanwhile Pip starts running into lookalikes of her friends and realizes they’re from a different timeline where things did NOT end very well for them. Grovyle has become sort of a mercenary and adopted Dusknoir’s “survive no matter the cost” outlook, and has had his fair share of devastating losses (both his own Pip and Celebi being killed before they could go back to the past and retrieve the Time Gears). The guild is in shambles due to the world literally ending; they were forced to turn rogue, Chatot is dead and Chimchar took over as Guildmaster because Wigglytuff’s too emotionally distraught to lead. Everyone existing in the Distorted Realm is miserable and trying to kill each other and have turned even more dark and twisted than the Dark Future. It’s a MESS. But luckily Pip’s there to start getting things into gear and get everyone moving in the right direction. Starting with heading down into World Abyss (which, to the surface Pokemon, is considered to be an absolute death trap to be avoided at all costs) to meet with Giratina ;)
There’s a lot more going on in the AU but yeah it’s one I’ve had for a while! And one I’ve been wanting to work on more. If I could turn this into a ROM hack one day that would be SO neat

Hope this isn't too long I wrote as I thought of it I'm tempted to take 🐖 for an emoji anon
Fucking Spoink is a logistical problem we can't solve without the knowing the intricacies of Spoink biology and considering the standard Nintendo has set for their lore I'd say we might never see that.
First, we'd have to know the absolute basics of Poké Reproduction, which is impossible to do while keeping an E rating. Secondly, and more importantly, we'd have to know what exactly about bouncing pumps blood in a Spoink's body. Sure, the PokéDex says it's the shock and to be fair Spoink does jump fairly high, reaching up to Professor Oak's chest. But Spoink stops for a second to attack the professor in his Lectures segment from the Diamond and Pearl anime and does so twice. Once to bounce into his chin and another to watch how far he goes.
From that we can infer that Spoink is an organic paint can and shaker but that still begs the question of the involvement of the coil. On what level is this coil needed to generate shock for biological function? If a Spoink were to somehow lose this coil, are there implants available that use say, hammers that can keep a rhythm going and how does evolution treat them? If such surgery isn't covered by Pokémon Centers then who can afford these treatments? To get back on topic, Spoink with a vigorous enough partner might not need to bounce at all and may be able to use these moments to rest. Though if this idea now asks if Spoink can survive mating with another Spoink or if bouncing is at all taxing in the first place. I assume there might be dialogue hidden in a PMD game could give a definitive answer but without wanting to put in more than two seconds of effort for this long-winded ask, I believe the latter simply because relying on other Pokémon just to sit down for a few minutes isn't a sound way of propagating a species.
Anyway, dissertation over. Tl;dr you know the clussy onahole? There's probably a similarly perverted gag gift in universe that squeals instead of honking and the clamperl pearl is a bubble that collects everything for easy cleaning.
Sources: Bulbapedia, JickNonsense Pokémon Sun Spoink solo playthrough (timestamps 0:17 and 0:49)
Footnote: If I had to guess an exact Mystery Dungeon game I'd say Explorers of Sky due to it combining parts of Time and Darkness. Also, I've been getting notifications from Pokémon Go and I don't know how to tell them what I've been doing for the past hour instead of answering their raid invites since they follow me on here. (PoGo got me out of the house during covid and now it's a habit, don't judge me.)
This is the kinda shit that keeps me running this blog. Overly in depth analysis of the possibility of smashing Pokémon.

Dusknoir finds out a couple things about himself that he didn't know before. ⤏ Alternative summary: my take on what happened directly after the fifth special episode, mostly influenced by my own pent up Dusknoir feels! :D Yay for angst! He's a tender marshmallow.) pairing(s) ✨ (mentions of) hero/grovyle [nostalgiashipping] word count ✨ 2.5k a/n ✨ [header credit] [divider credit] ⤏ This is an old piece from 2016, when I last replayed Explorers, so with my recent resurgence I figured I might post it here for my new PMD moots. Considering this is six years old, please forgive my older, less polished writing; but I'm still fairly pleased with it. :) (That's also why it's not getting a dedicated Sunday post, but since it's Christmas I thought I might share something that most of my followers here probably haven't seen before.) ⤏ My hero's old name was Celina, so I changed it to the newly updated Eliana instead. Other than that, it's pretty much a time capsule haha.
Tumblr media
This new, brighter future was, in all honesty, taking quite a lot more to get used to than Dusknoir had anticipated previously.
It had been a mighty triumph, incapacitating Primal Dialga to prevent him from tampering with the Passage of Time, the possibility of him ruining time just before it managed to begin to function again diminished to none when his massive legs had buckled beneath him after Grovyle had dealt the final blow. That triumph had been short lived, however - it hadn't been but a few moments before they all had turned to light and had disappeared; but, upon their almost immediate return, the immense relief of being able to breathe in the newly shifting air, to see the sunrise glowing in more colors than Dusknoir had ever seen in his life - it had robbed him of breath and had humbled him in such a way he doubted he would ever look at the sky the same way again. Whomever it may have been to preserve his and the rest of the future Pokémon’s lives, they would have his immense gratitude for the rest of his days.
Everything in that moment had been exhilarating - he had felt the wind, cold and biting, race past him, the sun shining in his eye so brightly that he quickly learned that he mustn't look at it directly, lest he be temporarily blinded - but then, after Dialga had been generous enough to provide them with a portal to return to the Hidden Land (now in the budding stages of returning to its past lushness and fertility), he had found himself in an unexpected state of absolute dumbfound ever since.
Given that Dialga was no longer under the influences of darkness and had no reason to bind them to his will, he had released Dusknoir and the Sableye of their past duties, and thus had turned Dusknoir away from the one thing that he had ever truly known - servitude. He had always served for someone else, and he had always had a strong sense of loyalty to those he did. But for lack of better terms, Dusknoir was now out of his realm of confidence, and honestly had no idea of how to go about his life from here forth.
Celebi and Grovyle had been surprisingly kind and generous to him thus far - while Celebi had offered to house Grovyle in one of her many homes, she had also extended it to him as well. It was a shallow cave, high up on a cliff face where no one would usually be able to spot it. Both Grass types fit easily enough inside - but if Dusknoir were to be completely honest with himself...he was not a very small Pokémon. At all. At least, compared to the other two.
Luckily, he was not quite corporeal at times, so he managed to squeeze inside and settle on the cave floor - hunched over, but he had something over his head, at least.
Grovyle set to work at pulling a few things from his worn Treasure Bag, a couple of differently textured rocks and a bit of dried leaves and tiny sticks, before he struck one rock upon the other. A few sparks flared from it and onto the small collection of dead vegetation, but it took a couple of tries to actually get it to start smoldering. Thin wisps of smoke danced up from it and Grovyle set to work at blowing on it gently, coaxing it into a small, dancing flame that cast a warm orange glow across the cold cave floor.
He glanced up at Celebi and murmured that she go gather a few smaller sticks to help build up the flames. She bobbed her head and soared out of the cave, her little wings flapping with determination.
Grovyle sat back on his haunches and released a long sigh, scrubbing at his face with his clawed paws. Dusknoir tried not to shift around uncomfortably, afraid his antenna would scrape against the ceiling.
"I thought Grass types were supposed to be wary of fire," Dusknoir, for lack of other words, tried to prompt.
Grovyle glanced up at him, his bright yellow eyes seeming to gleam in the fading sunlight. The smaller Pokémon’s strong reserve was back, the emotion he'd shown in the past day probably having drawn too much from him to offer much more.
It had been quite an exhausting day, even for Dusknoir himself. He understood that Grovyle was most likely exponentially wearier than he, especially considering the energy the ice pillars had drained from the Grass type. Dusknoir was amazed that Grovyle was even still conscious. (He had been lucky to have knocked him from the energy beams’ grip in time.)
“I learned many things when I met Eliana,” Grovyle told him, settling against the stone wall and folding his arms over his thin chest. His eyes shifted to gaze out of the cave mouth, the circles beneath darkening with shadows that the meager flames were pushing away. “Choosing to qualm simple fears was one of the first.”
Dusknoir hummed for lack of a response, following the Grass type’s gaze.
The sun was setting. A grandiose amalgamation of color painted the sky, oranges and pinks and lilacs mingling in a joyful reunion as the great burning ball of gold retreated beneath the distant horizon. Stars were beginning to appear, tentatively sparkling against the darker parts of the great canvas stretched out before them.
Dusknoir found that he was holding his breath.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Grovyle mused absently.
The Ghost type hummed once more in agreement, trying to take in as much of the view as possible.
“I…haven’t seen so many colors in my life,” he admitted softly. He felt Grovyle’s eyes rest upon him.
“You were in the past before,” Grovyle reminded him, his voice somewhat dubious. “Didn’t you ever stop long enough to look around you?”
Dusknoir fell silent, shifting uncomfortably and flinching a bit when his antenna brushed the stone above him. Grovyle huffed quietly, shuffling around in his Treasure Bag before holding out something in his paw. The Ghost type stared in puzzlement at the two Purple Gummis before looking back up to the Wood Gecko Pokémon.
“I picked these up before we went to Temporal Tower,” Grovyle explained, eyes still searching the growing darkness outside. “I didn’t want to let them go to waste, and I figured you were hungry after the day we’ve had.”
Dusknoir hesitantly took the small food items, eyeing them a bit before looking up at the smaller Pokémon. Honestly, how had this Pokémon’s attitude towards him changed so drastically? And why? What had Dusknoir ever done to deserve any sort of good will - and from Grovyle, who had been his target for months and who he had attempted to murder multiple times, no less? Why did he deserve any mercy? Why had he come back after disappearing? What good had he ever done, truly, to deserve to even be breathing? He’d been a twisted soul for most of his life, doing nothing but the morally bleak bidding for any master that offered him power…
…Had he really redeemed himself, in helping Grovyle and Celebi save the future? Or had he merely been a side note?
“…Dusknoir?”
The Ghost type startled back into reality, confusedly taking in Grovyle’s troubled expression. “Pardon me, I was…thinking.”
“Dusknoir…you…you’re crying.”
Dusknoir blinked, gingerly running a fingertip beneath his eye and drawing it away. When had his vision gotten so blurry?
Grovyle straightened, creases forming between his eyes in what Dusknoir vaguely recognized as his concern. “Dusknoir, what’s wrong?”
The Ghost type flushed in shame, attempting to swipe away the outward evidence of his inner conflict. “Nothing, nothing. I believe I may have gotten dirt in my eye.”
The Grass type was silent for a long moment, so long of a moment that Dusknoir glanced up to make sure that he was even still there. There was an odd expression on the smaller Pokémon’s face, one that looked to be a conglomeration of several at once.
“You’re beginning to doubt yourself,” Grovyle observed gently.
Dusknoir wondered when he had become so transparent. Metaphorically. He was a Ghost type. Conditional transparency came with existing.
“I’m not aware of what you’re implicating,” he rebutted dismissively, looking towards the end of the cave. It was much darker than before. Did the sun always set so quickly?
“You can stop lying, you know. I’m not going to judge you for whatever you’re feeling.” Grovyle’s voice had taken on a foreign gentleness, one that Dusknoir had only ever heard once before. It had been at the temple in the Hidden Land of the past, when the Grass type had retold Eliana of their doomed fate to disappear upon rescuing Temporal Tower. He’d gazed upon the human-turned-Eevee with such a tenderness that Dusknoir had, at the time, found it to be a sign of extreme weakness and idiocy. But, seeing how Grovyle had spoken of her throughout their adventure the past day, Dusknoir had clearly seen the true strength of their relationship shining through his words. They were extremely close, there was no denying that. They had endured much together, and it showed. Dusknoir just wondered how much it had hurt him to discover that she had lost all her memories of him.
“It is nothing that concerns you,” Dusknoir persisted, trying to ignore how his voice shook, quite involuntarily.
“Something is telling me otherwise.” Grovyle leaned towards him, scrutinizing him carefully. “You’re feeling something, that’s for sure. Feeling something is better than feeling nothing at all.”
Dusknoir growled beneath his breath, but it was weak. “You certainly are persistent.”
Grovyle chuckled lightly. “How do you think I’ve managed to live this long?”
The Ghost type stared at him, clenching his fist around the Gummis and heaving a shaky sigh. “I am…confounded.”
The Wood Gecko Pokémon raised a brow.
Dusknoir looked back towards the mouth of the cave. The sun was completely concealed by the distant horizon, and the colors were beginning to drain into a deep indigo. “As you are well aware, I…have not had many good accomplishments in my life. I sought nothing but power, strove to gain it by any means, and…I have done nothing but serve for the betterment of darkness. I did hunt you and Eliana down, I attempted to attack you, then I pursued you into the past…” Dusknoir drew his shoulders in, folding his arms tightly over his chest and shrinking into himself. “I very nearly killed you multiple times, with clear malice exhibited constantly, but you still found it in yourself to grant me pity. Why?”
Grovyle fell silent for a very long moment.
“Dusknoir,” he began slowly, “have you ever felt true hate for someone, ever, in your life?”
The Ghost type was taken aback. “Pardon?”
The smaller Grass type raised a brow and Dusknoir averted his eye.
“No,” he said hesitantly, “I don’t believe I have.”
“Have you ever strongly disliked someone?”
“A few. Where are you going with this?”
“Do you dislike them because you think they wronged you?”
“I do, but I don’t know what you’re-”
“How difficult would it be to forgive them?”
Dusknoir squinted at him. “Excuse me?”
“How difficult would it be for you to forgive them?” Grovyle repeated.
Dusknoir studied him, recollecting his past resentments and grudges. It would, admittedly, be very difficult to forgive some of the things that other Pokémon had done to him before. He sighed deeply. “Very.”
“But could you find it in yourself to forgive them?” he asked.
Dusknoir thought a moment. “I…suppose so. Why are you asking me this?”
“Eliana once told me,” Grovyle said, “that part of the reason so many Pokémon have become twisted as they are is because they were cold-hearted to begin with. Refusing to forgive others can result in constructing a wall of bitterness that will block you off from anything good, and hatred can make that wall much harder to tear down. But if you’re willing to forgive, and to keep bitterness from building up, then you can in turn better yourself.” The Wood Gecko Pokémon eyed him neutrally. “Dusknoir, despite what you said during our journey about despising me, I didn’t believe you. You couldn’t truly hate anyone - it’s not in your nature, and I sensed that. The only reason you ever felt any kind of malice to begin with was due to where your loyalties lay, but when you began to realize that there was truly no reason to possess such mal intent…”
He smiled softly, glancing out towards the quiet dusk outside. “That’s when you began to question what you’d known. That’s when you began to feel guilt. But that’s also what’s proving to me that you are a good Pokémon, Dusknoir.” Grovyle continued, leaning forward, “The fact that you are feeling guilt and that you are questioning yourself tells me that you aren’t twisted, you aren’t a bad Pokémon - you were just a little misguided. You are a good Pokémon at heart, and I want you to realize it.”
Dusknoir looked away, pulling his shoulders inward and trying to fight the hot sting beginning to blur his vision.
“Your shining spirit,” Grovyle said softly. “It’s always been there. It was just hidden for a long time.”
“Grovyle…” Dusknoir swallowed thickly, folding his arms tightly over his chest. His dignity was in shambles, but picking up the pieces didn’t seem as mortifying as he might’ve thought. “…you’re deluding yourself.”
The Grass type chuckled. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell Celebi about this.”
The Gripper Pokémon grunted, swiping at his eye just as the beat of tiny wings made itself faintly known. He could hear Celebi’s grunts of effort, and Grovyle shifted to his feet, moving towards the cave mouth.
“Dusknoir…”
The Ghost type looked towards him, taken aback by the almost amused smile plastered across the Grass type’s face.
Grovyle tilted his head towards the outside world. The sun had completely receded below the horizon, the sky a deep navy, and stars were twinkling brightly against the dark expanse. “Welcome to the future.”
Dusknoir watched him exit the cave and disappear around the mouth’s edge, and after a moment he heard his and Celebi’s voices mingling, her tone obviously grateful as Grovyle must’ve been taking a part of her burden.
This new, brighter future would take a lot more to get used to than Dusknoir had anticipated previously, but he felt that maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. If this, finding himself, was just the beginning, then he looked forward to everything else that awaited him. There were many things that would need to be done as time transitioned into functioning properly again, many responsibilities to take up, but Dusknoir was ready for the challenge. He was much stronger than before. He was sure of that.
He and his shining spirit.

I got a question. Why is Shadow your favorite character?
That's something I haven't really thought about. Usually, when I declare a character my favorite, it's kinda like a gut feeling - I see X Character and I instantly know they'll be my favorite. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll probably want a more in-depth explanation.
Tumblr media
Shadow the Hedgehog definitely fits the character archetype I tend to gravitate to, which I tend to describe as Troubled, But Cute (put a pin on the ''cute'' part tho), Anti-Hero or Anti-Villain type of character with a tragic backstory, who has an intimidating or untrustworthy presence, or is just a jerk, but deep down, they are sweet and/or genuinely care about the other characters in their own way.
If you want more examples, here is a list of my favorite characters from other franchises:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Impmon/Beelzemon from Digimon Tamers, initially a mischievous Digimon who caused trouble for the main cast, his traumatic experience with his own Tamers and his desire to become stronger led him to a path of destruction, followed by one of the most incredible and heartbreaking redemption arcs I've seen.
Tumblr media
Bass.EXE/Forte.EXE from Rockman.EXE/MegaMan Battle Network/MegaMan NT Warrior. Bass is a Solo NetNavi who had been created by Dr. Cossack to improve internet security, but was betrayed by the humans when the internet at the time, Alpha, went berserk, causing Bass to be mistakenly blamed for that chaos. Believing that humans are monsters, Bass has set the goal to become the strongest and destroy humanity once and for all. He is also MegaMan's strongest rival, and I especially love how their relationship is portrayed in Ryo Takamisaki's MegaMan NT Warrior manga, where they both show deep respect for each other and it is acknowledged that MegaMan is the first person Bass allowed himself to bond with. Huh, when you think about it, Bass and Shadow are kinda similar, especially when the latest chapter that focused on Bass had him finally make peace with his past.
Tumblr media
Darkrai from Pokémon, specifically Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky. To quote the Pokedex: ''Folklore has it that on moonless nights, this Pokémon will make people see horrific nightmares.'' Darkrai is a Pokémon who is capable of causing horrible nightmares, but the truth is, he cannot control this ability and isolates himself on Newmoon Island. In Rise of Darkrai, he is portrayed as a misunderstood anti-hero who wanted to defend his home from Dialga and Palkia, and in PMD: Explorers, he is a maniacal tyrant who wants to plunge the world into eternal darkness, and these two different portrayals are one of the reasons why I adore Darkrai so much. And yeah, he definitely isn't the conventionally ''cute'' type, but I always had weird tastes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Félix/Chat Noir from Ladybug PV, who I consider to be a different character from the CGI show. Having been cursed with bad luck, Félix needs to find ways to convince to Ladybug to kiss him while working together with her against the main villain and also dealing with Ladybug's civilian form, Bridgette. I'm certain that, if his character had been developed further, we would see a different side to him, show that there is more to Félix/Chat Noir than what is on the surface.

Last chapter of the Pt arc! I cut off a lot of stuff, but this was still longer than usual. Beware of spoilers!
First - Vs Lopunny
Previous - Final dimentional duel X
Last - Final dimentional duel XI
Chapter 25 / Chapter 441
Tumblr media
This is a pretty cool shot. And I also love the reasoning, especially as I'm still in PMD hell, and as I've read the author's note at the end of the volume. When you live in a world of darkness, what you desire the most is to find a light that can brighten up your road.
Tumblr media
I love Rotom. I don't even care that at this point they were just throwing stuff at your face, or that the robot was supposed to be at Dia's home, I just love that Rotom followed him because they equally loved anime.
Tumblr media
So it was a machine that used waves Pokémon don't like. And from what I understood, he used it to control Giratina on the other side to open the hole back on Spear Pillar.
Tumblr media
You can't tell me Cyrus isn't a great character in the manga. He had a backstory that explained his reasoning without any tragic twist and an amazing development thanks to Dia's words and his own experience in the Distortion World.
Tumblr media
And despite everything, he still loves his commanders. I would have so loved to see more of their point of view during the story and learn more about them.
Tumblr media
Other people thrown to the reader's face! It's not like he was hospitalized, like. Two days ago. Anyway.
Tumblr media
This is a pretty damn awesome shot, if you ask me.
Tumblr media
I love these two dumbasses. And the fact that Dia and Pearl are right behind them just confirms my idea that they are their foils.
Tumblr media
Unova and Seven Sages mention! I've always hoped we could find out who the leader guy was. I think they were preparing us for a Sird vs International Police confrontation for the future, before it was all canceled.
Tumblr media
Fiore mention! I have read the Ranger chapters in the past, but I don't think they're available anywhere anymore since the site I used shut down. If anyone can find them they can tell me though, because I would love to do a commentary about those too. You know, to close definitely the Sinnoh saga.
Tumblr media
The fistbump ever. They are finally together and happily in peace, as they should have always been.
Tumblr media
I love these little shots the manga always shows at the end of an arc, to give an idea about what everyone is doing. Unless the arc ends with a bad ending like FRLG and BW.
Tumblr media
I missed them so badly. Starting with a double act to try and become famous, ending with a double act solely for the person they love the most.
Tumblr media
Daycare guys! And of course Phione and Manaphy, because in an arc made to show off every single Sinnoh legendary, they couldn't not put these last two. Even if there's still one more missing...
Tumblr media
...Which is shown off in the final arc of the fourth generation games. Johto and Gold mention! The reference to the games ever, because HGSS deserves this and more.
Woah, Pt is over too. Of course this was way faster than DP, but it was still a good trip. I hope everyone enjoyed it, because I sure did! This arc may have it's downsides, but in the end DP was the one with the biggest stuff, and this was obviously mostly fanservice.
After this I have to go back to studying once again. I should be free for a while in the second half of April, so I'm thinking to end the fourth gen saga with a HGSS commentary. Tell me what you think!
Thank you for reading all the way till the end! I'm always happy to see those who kept following this commentaries since DP. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ok. I have a few pmd sky AUs. Like, a couple. So.
Gijinkas lol
Special Episode 5 AU: Ive drawn this one before but Alana and Grovyle get switcherooed, so it’s Grovyle and Shinx doing Temporal Tower and Alana and Dusknoir bickering their way through the dark future. I’ve actually written some of this, only the parts with celebi tho
AU where Hero is raised by Team Charm in the past (idk how it would work logistically but just roll with it) and they get along like a house on fire with dusknoir bc they share the same polite mannerisms. Close relationship w wigglytuff and chatot by proxy
Tea shop au with @koiiqueen and @dawn-at-dusk where Dusknoir and Grovyle run a tea shop, avatar-style. All of our heroes and partners visit often. And celebi of course. Grovyle and Dusknoir make shitty business partners but it works out in the end for the lols
Roleswap AU: Grovyle woke up on the beach and Alana took his usual place. News starts circulating of a real flesh-and-blood human sighting and grovyle sees the posters at the guild and gets this funny feeling in his chest that he can’t explain. Shinx laughs him off but secretly Grovyle can’t shake it. When dusknoir shows he harbors instant dislike for his smug attitude even tho the other is eminently very nice to him. Also, shinx is smitten, which Grovyle can’t understand, but whatever. (This is mostly the same as alana in canon in my head lmfao). When alana runs into him in Crystal crossing she’s like YOU!!!! And he’s like Me? And alana is like I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU EVERYWHERE- and then dusknoir shows up and ruins everything

Pip ⦵ (PMD Explorers Hero) | (Partner)
Bold, blunt, impulsive, and extremely emotional
Seems to be an adolescent based on Chatot's estimation
Autistic, bipolar (not BPD), ADHD
Short term memory issues from the brain damage that gave them amnesia
Often relies on their partner's habit of taking extensive notes
Loves showing off their knowledge
It– like their common sense– is primarily from what they learned in the future.
They know more about legends than Chatot and can identify almost any Pokemon, especially rare ones.
But basic facts about the world are patently wrong.
Friendly and chatty.
Yet surprisingly cautious of strangers.
Ever since they met Drowzee they always insist on shaking hands.
Duskinor refusing didn't help with the bad feeling they got from him. Yet they tried to ignore it and trust their partner's judgement.
Well-meaning, strange morality.
Dark humor
Never throws out items
Gets extremely upset if someone throws out food. Will even eat hazardous seeds and grimey food so they aren't "wasted."
They were malnourished when they washed up on the beach.
Small for their age because food was scarce in the future
They kept overeating when they first came to the guild.
Now their appetite has stabilized and they're happily fat.
Loves learning to cook from Chimecho.
Grovyle's younger sibling
Was his last remaining family
They turned into a Piplup because their mom (Empoleon) always dressed them as one to avoid Dialga's detection.
They "evolved" by switching to a Prinplup disguise shortly before travelling back to the past.

Check-in for October 24, 2023
I'm planning on doing regular check-ins that peeps can read or skip as much as they please. If you want to see behind the scenes of my projects or get to know me a bit better, feel free to peek below the cut! If not, just look at this color palette I made for my web dev class and admire it:
Tumblr media
I know green and pink are my favorite colors, so I may be just a tad biased, but look!!! Look at how pretty it is!!!
I plan to use the palette for a website that is basically a guided tour of a fictional town that's populated by bug people, and while the colors used in the initial character sketches are still my preference, I don't think they look too bad in this proof of concept image! They definitely need some tweaking, and some details in the art itself need correcting, but all around it's not too shabby :>
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also made the logo for the website which, while uninspired, doesn't look that bad. I'm not in a logo design course, so I can't be too upset about that. I made two versions--- a light and dark one--- so that I could have it appear on most colors of background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I've printed off tons of art and stuck it on my walls over the past few days to inspire me. The art wall has been very successful in beautifying my space, but I've been a bit too worn out to draw much other than the start of a project where I draw individual generations of pokemon by memory. Venusaur looks exactly like I remembered it, but also nothing like that at all. Charizard's line only looks halfway decent by virtue of Twig existing.
I must say, though, that I am charmed by these drawings' doofy lil grins. Just look at Bulbasaur. He is raring to go! Charmander is ready to shake your hand! Look at these lads!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been trying to learn Clip Studio Paint by drawing a new The Present is a Gift comic in it, but I cannot begin to explain to you all how intimidating of a program it is for me. I'm a Procreate gal, y'all. I have a conniption whenever I look at the Photoshop interface. When I look at this:
Tumblr media
I am desperate for the cozy white space of this:
Tumblr media
I spent over an hour struggling to draw a simple piece for Instagram, admittedly while desperately trying to get OBS to not give out on me while I recorded my screen, but I think that I'm slowly learning how to not faint whenever the Paint window boots up.
youtube
Anyhoo--- enjoy the WIP teaser for the upcoming comic featuring a chat between Dusknoir (piloting a KO'd Twig) and Darkrai amidst a cave-in. If I am found dead, know that said comic worked alongside Clip Studio Paint to kill me.
Tumblr media
As an update for The Present is a Gift in terms of the fanfic, I recently broke 6,000 words for the first draft. I haven't been writing too regularly--- when I do, it's usually to just sit down for 30 minutes max to try and get a little bit of a head start on NaNoWriMo coming up--- but whenever I do, the words come in batches of 400-700+ at a time. My dudes, I used to take a week to reach the lower end of that amount. I've been beating perfectionism back with a stick while sobbing "Quantity begets quality! Quantity begets quality!", but since I've set myself a challenge to write as many garbage words as possible without editing them until the first draft is done, I've been writing--- and enjoying the process of writing--- more than I have in my entire life.
I've been trying to win NaNoWriMo, a challenge where you write 50k words in November, for the last 7 years. I resigned myself to being a NaNo rebel and trying to write just 15k words next month. But if I keep cranking out 1,500 words in under two writing sprints per day--- without properly trying to eliminate distractions--- I think I could actually win for once??? I didn't think Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fanfiction would be what gave me a fighting chance at winning NaNoWriMo, but here I am. PMD brainrot truly is a miraculous thing, but I'll have to see exactly miraculous it is on the 1st of November.
Tumblr media
So... yep! I probably should have figured out a way to sign off on check-in posts before deciding to publish this. Oops. Welp. Um. Thanks for reading?
Sincerely, Sofie

Is there a chance that Ingo could return to the future without the twins disappearing? I mean, I’m sure that Dialga could possibly help, considering that he was able to keep the protagonist with their partner at the end of Exploers of Sky/Time/Darkness.
Possibly; a couple people have also suggested that if Ingo's children were left in the past then that would allow the twins to stay when Ingo returns.
Tumblr media
However, Ingo isn't the kind of person to willingly leave his loved ones ESPECIALLY his children. (And especially especially if his spouse died as the first ask suggests)
Though it's very interesting that you bring up that comparison to PMD because Dialga actually says this in one of the special episodes:

"... Well, let me start with your first question..." Lost to Time started. "Yes." They answered simply. "Four of the Pokemon in those other images were indeed Humans who became Pokemon in various ways." They paused for a moment, nodding.
"I am one of them as well, though my circumstances are... odd to say the least." They laughed lightly. "As I mentioned to the Suicune... time travel has consequences, especially if an accident occurs during it." They said simply, before focusing on the space around them.
Tumblr media
Appearing from thin air, more 'windows' came to be, a faint bluish glow surrounding the Espeon's long whiskers and curious forehead gem. "I believe I can present them as I remember them-the last time I saw them all... maybe I'll give a tiny bit more info about them too." They coyly claimed.
[[Vague PMD game spoilers for all of the main games ahead]]
Tumblr media
"I can start with the eldest of us." Five windows appeared, each now with a black background and a figure colored in a single solid hue. "... Hmm... what were their names...?" Lost to Time's tone was strained, trying to force the memory to the surface, but no luck.
"Charizard... was one of the first, I believe, they saved the world from a meteor with the help of a Legendary Pokemon and eventually chose to stay in the Pokemon World for their own personal reasons." Lost to Time turned their gaze to the window in the center, a Serperior was presented there. "I'll save myself for last," Lost to Time started.
"Serperior was the third Human that we came across, and unlike Charizard and myself, they had to solve their crisis without outside help." They frowned, but continued on. "I don't know the full details, but they apparently gained a unique power among us all." Lost to Time's gaze fell on the window to the upper right, this one had a familiar Pikachu from a previous image.
"The fourth was actually the youngest of us by technicality." Lost to Time tilted their head. "Apparently they were reincarnated at some unknown point in the past." They shook their head, their attitude souring a bit. "They bore one of the heaviest burdens: the entire world was at stake, a monster was created, fueled by hatred and used unbelievable power to defeat the world's strongest in days." They tilted their head in thought.
"Unfortunately, I don't remember all the details of this one's adventure... before we even knew the full story, we were targeted and... removed from the equation..." They chose not to elaborate, turning their attention to the lower right image.
"This one... they bore the burden of the world once again, this time though, the very dungeons we'd explored, lived in and used as a resource became our enemy." Lost to Time stared at the Pokemon's saddened expression. "We gathered together, discussed everything, traveled the world time and time again, but we couldn't find a solution, and had to make a desperate move... changing our world forever." They looked over each image once more.
"I don't know how, where or when it happened, but I'm certain. They all died." Despite that dark statement, they continued on.
Tumblr media
"And finally, myself, this is what I looked like before... this." Lost to Time placed a paw on their chest before locking eyes with the window once more, studying their original appearance. "I was a hero who traversed time to stop a horrid future from occurring, success erased my original future completely." They said this plainly, forgetting that they had dismissed a question about it before, or merely failing to realize, they continued on.
"I was allowed to continue existing by a power beyond my comprehension... I think... something more powerful than a god of time did it, I... think..." They were very unsure of this fact, but continued to speak.
"I-hmm..." They paused. "Well I-err..." Again, they paused. "I... I'm certain I died fighting the god of time, to avoid history repeating itself... I guess... I succeeded..." They took a deep breath or what sounded like one, and willed more windows into existence, replacing the previous ones. "Now... your other question..."
