Uh, I guess…. Fuck, I don’t really know. I’d say either shinx, or Eevee. Probably Eevee though. I know, I know, a lot of people like it, but I guess I just like it since it’s one of the only Pokémon where it can evolve into almost anything.

It really shows that something can become another thing entirely, whether that’s good or bad, things can change and be much more than one thing, have much more than one option.

Guys I need help theres a pokemon theme Im trying to think of but cant find. Its a theme that sounds like it would play in a snowy area and it sounds like a ds era theme. Its really calm and the best way I can describe it is kinda fluttery. Its not route 216.

honestly as much as I love the additions to Scarlet and Violet’s photo mode with the dlc, I’m really not a fan of how your Pokemon automatically turn to face you when you play a song to get them to do an animation

I wanna be able to take cool photos like the ones they have in the Pokedex, but I can’t really do that if I can only have my Pokemon doing cool poses when they’re facing directly towards me, it just limits what you can do

is there any sort of work around for this or is it just a dumb feature you gotta deal with :/

Olympia’s Nationality?

Olympia is the Anistar City Gym Leader from Pokémon XY. She’s a psychic type user and I have a series question to do with her background/inspiration because I’ve heard two theories with compelling evidence: that she’s either Romani or Greek. I’m asking this now since I have a side project of remaking XY and want to figure out how much of her character u should change.

Romanian Olympia

This is the theory I’ve heard first and makes Olympia a problematic character. Olympia’s dark skin, psychic powers, connection to the future, and Star cape means she takes inspiration from stereotypes about Romanian fortune tellers.

Greek Olympia

The more recent theory I’ve heard is that she is more inspired by Greece and oracles. The smoke in her gym badge meant to reference the smoke inhaled by an oracle and her seeing the future in general. Her name even being “Olympia” could reference Olympus/Olympians, and other languages apparently using the Ancient Greek word for Star.

There’s also the Lenora Controversy from Black and White. In short, Lenora’s apron caused concern that she’d resemble an old archetype mocking African American woman and was removed from the manga, anime, and games. With this big of a change, I don’t think Game Freak would throw in a Romano stereotype.

Conclusion

I want to hear some thoughts and some opinions from actual Romanians about Olympia since I don’t see a lot of discussion about her online. If she’s gonna be part of my XY Remake, I don’t want to be hurting anyone unintentionally.

Question for people familiar with Pokémon internationally, because searching the 'net is turning up nothing but useless debates without hard information:

I know that the English Pokémon dub has a rule to only refer to Pokémon with "it" pronouns, as a grammatical convention. But what about in other languages?

I'm particularly curious about the original Japanese: I know it's much easier to avoid third-person pronouns in Japanese, but do they make a special effort to avoid the pronouns of Pokémon we know the gender of, or does Ash call Pikachu a 'he'?

(Also curious about languages with gendered-only pronouns, like French. How are Pokémon of unknown gender referred to? Does that change once the gender is known, or remain consistent?)
