Okay! So we know that with a simple Google search that Rosas located in the Mediterranean Sea off the Iberian Peninsula which contains the bulk of Portugal and Spain, the entirety of Andorra a small part of the French department of Pyrénées-Orientales, and the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.
From this knowledge we can cross reference the buildings in those areas through different time periods with the look of the buildings in wish. But Rosas hasn’t just been built it’s been going for at least 17 years, so we’ll only cross reference the castle as that was likely the first building built.
It seems similar to two buildings, the Alhambra which was built in 1238 so right at the end of the Middle Ages which lasted 500 to 1400-1500 ce. So bingo! We have our time frame! It’s anywhere after 1238!
So what were the foods in the Mediterranean like after 1238? Fishy! Literally. They ate large amounts of fish and other seafood. There were many types of soups and stews and salads were popular. They liked a variety of cheeses, and fruits were eaten both fresh or cooked. Fruits included apples, melons, dates, figs, grapes and pomegranates.
Almonds, walnuts and pistachios were used in many dishes as well as being eaten by themselves. They ate all kinds of meats including pork and numerous types of fowl.
Thank you for reading my essay that was meant to be one paragraph but quickly derailed. Don’t know if this is me being helpful or really annoying, I’m sorry if it’s the second one. Hope this helps, and personally I think Magnifico’s favourite food would either be:
• Fruits - like pomegranates and melon
• Meat - I also get those vibes from him weirdly enough
• It’s a wheel spin - He’ll eat anything and can’t pick a favourite. He’ll even mix them together sometimes and has been accused of being pregnant once for mixing olive oil with pomegranates to which his ego was wrecked for the rest of the week.

Ohhhhohoho it is BIG and AMBITIOUS! There are some swings in format and [redacted] that I think are kind of fun and silly and sexy! I will say that Eddie (and the reader!) finally gets to breathe a little.
Here’s a lil clip!
“Eddie was coming to understand that the fantasy of a life pulverized so completely into shards that it might never be reassembled was just that. A fantasy. Because to tell yourself that your life was pointless and wasted and irreparable was to absolve yourself completely. Nothing more could be asked of you. Who could blame such a man for walking out of frame forever?
But Malibu had grabbed Eddie by the scruff of the neck and shoved his nose in the mess he’d made until there was nothing to admit but that the pieces of his life were not irreparable. They were scattered and lost and dented. Not broken. And all that could be done was to prostrate himself lower still to search on hands and knees until he had them all gathered into one place again.
This sucked! Accountability sucked!
The van was gone, the loft was gone; the Eddie Munson Attaché boiled down now to a milk crate of records and paperbacks, his duffel of clothes, and his two guitars which he sometimes wore cross-gartered over his back like the katanas of a disgraced shogunate in Feudal Japan. (This image had, despite EVERYTHING, been scribbled on the back of a cigarette packet and shoved into Eddie’s notebook. He understood now those stories about beavers who tried to build dams over tape recorders playing the sounds of running water. Pointless! FUCK! If only he could drown hope entirely he’d be unstoppable!)
Soroush allowed him to pick up extra shifts with WE HAUL U SAVE. And while Eddie’s absence and newly-cropped scalp and subdued requests for more work received no outward acknowledgement, he noticed that the quantity of Soroush’s homemade lunches began to increase until there were leftovers nearly every day. “You are doing me a favor,” Soroush would shrug, pushing a half-eaten Tupperware of pomegranate walnut stew into Eddie’s hands. “My wife. Her heart will hurt if I don’t finish.”
Quietly Eddie thanked him. So much these days he did quietly.”

Celebrating Jashn e Mehregan with Khoresht e Fesenjan 
This weekend, I had the opportunity to travel home and learn how to prepare Fesenjan (فسنجان) from my mother. Fesenjan is a stew (khoresht, خورشت) made of walnuts, pomegranate, and chicken, and is served with Iranian polo: long-grain rice seasoned with saffron. The dish is of Northern Iranian origin and dates back several centuries (1). Fesenjan is not a food that my family eats on a regular basis, but rather on special occasions. In particular, this Sunday was the Iranian holiday of Jashn e Mehregan (جشنمهرگان), a celebration of the autumnal harvest (2). Fruits such as pomegranate and nuts such as walnuts are especially characteristic of this time of year, and so Fesenjan seemed like a natural choice to commemorate the holiday. This was my first time preparing a Persian dish, and while I held the preconception that Persian khoreshts are laborious and time-consuming to make, cooking Fesenjan proved to be a relatively simple process which anyone can do! Throughout the process, I learned that the key to Iranian cuisine lies in its subtle pairings of flavors— not necessarily spiciness— an approach which is meant to accentuate the natural characteristics of the ingredients. With Fesenjan in particular, the richness of the walnuts complements the tart sweetness of the pomegranate to produce a uniquely sumptuous flavor reminiscent of fall or winter. Overall, what I enjoyed most about cooking Fesenjan was its ability to bring my family closer together. Working in the kitchen with my mother, and later enjoying the meal with my whole family, I was able to learn more about my cultural heritage and my parents’ experiences. After all, cuisine is the centerpiece of Persian familial and social life.

Below is the recipe (serving 4 people) used along with pictures:
Using a food processor, pulverize 4 cups of walnuts. Set this aside for later.

Season eight pieces of deboned chicken thighs lightly in salt and pepper, as well as 2 tablespoons of flour to seal-in their juice. 
Sauté the chicken briefly in a pan until its exterior is golden-brown, then transfer it to a baking dish. Season with 1 teaspoon of turmeric.

In the same pan as before, sauté one diced onion. While the onion is still cooking, add the pulverized walnuts and sauté the mixture well. After about five minutes, add one tablespoon of flour and 2 minced cloves of garlic.

Transfer the onion and walnuts on top of the chicken. In the same pan as before, bring 32 oz. of pomegranate juice to boil. (Note: Alternatively, pomegranate paste, can be used.) While the pomegranate juice is being heated, add 1 tablespoon of honey.

Pour the juice onto the chicken, onion, and walnuts. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 425 F for one hour. Then, remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes.

Oh hi ☺️ I tend to like things that are stews or like... thick-sauce-based. I would commit several crimes if I got a good chili out of it.
My favorite food that is also a bit of a special occasion thing for me is fesenjan, which if you've never had it is a Persian pomegranate walnut stew. Mostly it's made with chicken, but it's also delicious with chickpeas! (I am in no way vegetarian but I have a Texture Thing™️ about most meats. Alas.)

HC Dump: Rookheey.a Kh.an (favorite flower)
Persia is well known for its many flora, especially that of the Saffron flower and the Persian rose, but Rookheeya's favorite flower is that of the Gulnar flower otherwise known as the Pomegranate flower (LINK).
Pomegranates were her favorite part of fall to eat but its in June to watching to see the flower bloom on some trees (males do not produce fruit) to later watching in fall for the other trees as the green fruit to turn to a luscious crimson.
She loves the fringing white of the red petals of the pomegranate flower and her best memories are beneath the tree with her late brother Masoud as he told her all he had learned that day at school and all the medicinal properties of the flowers before tucking it into her hair fondly.
He regaled her with every story he had ever heard relating to the fruit and the flower like that of Hades and Persephone. He'd tease her as he tucked the flower behind her ear and told her the fruit symbolized fertility then tweaked her nose saying that one day she'd have children of her own to tell these stories to. She argued that she'd have him tell the stories because he was the best storyteller she had ever heard. Its these memories she clings to when he's buried and gone long before she ever meets her husband.
And so every season she looks forward to the blooming of the gulnar flower and the fruit of the fall in fond remembrance of her brother Masoud.
and yes- she loves Fesenjan which is a is a traditional Persian stew made with chicken simmered in a pomegranate molasses and walnut sauce. The combination of earthy walnuts, slightly sour pomegranate molasses and tender, juicy chicken create an unparalleled balance of flavors in this special occasion dish.

We had a very interesting meal last night, once I’d managed to get hold of some chickpeas. The gravy of the stew was made from toasted walnuts, roast peppers (from a jar), olive oil, vegetable stock, chilli flakes, lemon juice and pomegranate molasses (the recipe said you can use honey and balsamic vinegar if you don’t have pomegranate molasses). All those ingredients went in the blender until they made a very smooth sauce. Then simmered with chickpeas for 30 minutes and then throw in some handfuls of kale or spinach for the last few minutes. We ate it with naan breads - it was really good. And mostly from the store cupboard.

Dolmeh
Dolmeh refers to a variety of vegetable-stuffed dishes and is popular not only among Persians, but also Armenians, Turks, Arabs and Indians. There are different types: eggplant Dolmeh, kotab Dolmeh (stuffed), Dolmeh beh (stuffed quince) and Iran’s most famous Dolme bagh or stuffed vine leaves. The famous Dolmeh Bhaji is made by stuffing grape leaves with a mixture of rice, minced meat, onions, saffron, pepper and parsley. This combination may sound a bit far-fetched, but believe me it would be a sad event not to try.

Kuku Sabzi
Just a few bites of crispy Kuk Sabzi (or Persian frittata) and you won’t be able to stop eating every piece put in front of you. Nevertheless, delicious Kuku Sabzi has a very easy recipe that you can try yourself. Beat the eggs until fluffy and light. Add onions, flour, chopped vegetables (fresh coriander or parsley, chives, leek tips, romaine leaves, dill) and season with spices such as pepper, salt and saffron. The mixture is then pan-fried until well browned and well puffed on top. Now you are ready to serve your delicious Persian Frittata.

Place chopped kale in a spacious bowl and drizzle with Kontoulis Family Olive Oil extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt. Now comes the fun part! Wash hands, roll up your sleeves and gently work the individual pieces of kale by rubbing them together between your fingers. Work the pieces for no more than 2-3 minutes until their texture becomes tender but firm and not mushy.
Once kale is massaged, spritz with fresh lemon juice, sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes, grated parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs and toss in some minced garlic.
