Putting out another alert to the antykwariaty for an out-of-print 1989 book on Saska Kępa architecture and urban planning 1918-1939 that does not seem to be available from any libraries in my country, or at least any to which I might have access even through connections lmao. Polish scholars publishing your niche dissertations as books in the PRL and early post-Communist period please print more than like 100 copies, I promise some extremely autistic weirdo in the future will care about Lenin's and Krupskaya's work with the Kraków political prisoners aid society and PPS during the 1910s, or exactly who lived where and when and who owned and who designed each residential building in Saska Kępa, and what they looked like, and how the neighborhood was laid out

And they will need it to write a comprehensive political-intellectual biography of Stefania Zahorska,,,

"Nie Łódź się"

PL: Ujęcie na prace rozbiórkowe opatrzone sugestywnym napisem na skrzynce elektrycznej - "Nie Łódź się"...

Żeby nie było - Łódź to bardzo fajne miasto i podoba mi się jego zróżnicowanie - zabytkowe piękne kamienice i pofabryczne budynki, oryginalne jak na powstałe w PRL-u bloki i oryginalna nowoczesna architektura przeplatają się tworząc coś wyjątkowego. Jednakże - jak w żadnym innym polskim mieście, które widziałem - jest tu bardzo dużo zniszczonych budynków, głównie w formie pustostanów albo grożących zawaleniem, albo już częściowo zawalonych. Trochę to smutne, ale widać, że miasto się stopniowo odbudowuje i zmienia swoje oblicze na plus. I oby tak dalej!

Let's be clear - Łódź is a very nice city and I like its diversity - beautiful historic tenement houses and post-industrial buildings, original apartment blocks built in the Polish People's Republic and original modern architecture intertwine to create something unique. However - as in no other Polish city I have seen - there are a lot of destroyed buildings, mainly in the form of vacant buildings, either threatening to collapse or already partially collapsed. It's a bit sad, but you can see that the city is gradually rebuilding and changing its appearance for the better. And keep it up!
