I love homesick so much

Little meta/analysis of Rayne and Mr. Murk’s relationship. I haven’t caught up yet so please no spoilers. This is also more of a ramble meta so if it makes no sense I’m sorry.

How Rayne and Mr. Murk’s relationship is unhealthy and they’re codependent on the other hits home with me. The author nailed what a codependent relationship is like(so far)

How in the beginning there was that red flag when Mr. Murk took control of her and made her leave Samael’s.

That was never really addressed and it makes sense why. Rayne is trusting and vulnerable at this point waking up with no memories in an apocalypse and nearly being killed. And he saved her life.

Mr. Murk cites as why he made Rayne leave is bc he got a bad vibe from Samael and again makes her wonder if we can trust Samael in doing so somehow shifting suspicion away from himself(intentionally or not). He didn’t want her to lose herself to save a guy who didn’t give a shit about her, he says.

But now she’s losing herself saving him.

He has been trying to isolate her since the beginning.

When his repeated isolation attempts don’t work he gets worse all culminating all coming to a head after they escape and stay at those people’s place.

Mr. Murk has turned meaner and you can tell just by looking at him now. He forces her to choose between him and her friends threatening if she doesn’t choose he’ll take control of her and eat them. But there was another threat he doesn’t outright say as a threat, he’ll disappear if he doesn’t eat.

And he knows 2 things: she has a savior complex. And secondly she does not want to lose the people she cares about. She’d rather leave, have someone(Kenny) kill her, then they leave her.

So she leaves, and she’s isolated with Mr. Murk.

He got what he wanted whether this was his intention from the beginning or not.

Do I think mr. Murk is all bad? I don’t know. I genuinely don’t know and I know if I keep reading I will probably find my answer it’s just I love theorizing and metas so much and something about Rayne’s story spoke to me.

"Theoretically what if I said 'yes'?" [Darren x Wirth Headcanons]

Taking a break from my OTP (Rinka x Orter) to focus on my first mashle oc aka Darren Randel (read more info here) ended up making me think they could be a potential ship over Darren x Rayne (I haven't even written out my ideas for them properly) so uhhh yah!

This is a long ass post and devolves into general ideas towards the end.

First impressions? They hated each other bro. Darren legit made Wirth taste worthlessness to another dimension (lost his magic completely until sundown so about 5-7 hours) for insulting the fact she didn't use a wand at all (which she gets pretty pissed about if they try to make themselves seem better than her)

He hated this moment so much he started studying/practicing to get payback towards her whenever they encountered each other again

And that happened to be during a Labyrinth/Maze exercise in order to test their knowledge from their Advanced Magic Classes which gave out silver and bronze coins (Lang and Adler houses only)

Wirth put a lot of effort to track her down since she ran after getting stranded by her only buddy (Rayne) who SURF PARTISAN-ED OUT OF THE HEDGES--and then ambushed her whilst she was fighting a golem (man-made magic training doll nicer than Deadervants)

but Darren uses and manipulates Wirth's attacks to put down the golem and 2 silver coins spawned. At this point in time she doesn't get what the coin system is so she just splits the share and Wirth is like what in the generousness is this? Does she think he's that pitiful??? And they part ways from the thing.

Midterms arrived and Darren did pretty bad on them obviously. (she's legit only great at offensive magic)

Walkis although more competitive is really lenient with their passing marks (because the school staff are so corrupt for accepting so many bribes) which she barely achieved after fighting for no instant failing grades so she underestimated the strictness of Easton's grading.

Wahlberg and the teachers agreed that if she failed the next one/finals they might consider expelling her so she literally panics and ends up asking Rayne to help tutor her but this guy is 1) a bad teacher, 2) easily distracted by the bunnies-- they both are really distracted by the bunnies so she has no progress beyond taking remedial classes which she barely understands.

She tries to figure out where she went wrong but Wirth takes the textbook she wanted to take and like are they about to break out into another duel. Darren's about to raise her voice but Wirth shuts her up with a silencing spell (library has to be quiet or not the cursed silencer appears and does the unimaginable).

Girl explains her situation and Wirth hawks in superiority: oh my gawd I'm actually better than her! But he kind of wants to duel her again so when she gets emotional about getting expelled if she does really bad the next round he is like: "Well, Darren. You've come to the right guy! I'm great at all subjects, so what do you need help with?" Darren: "Everything else that's not Magic Geography and Magic Zoology" aka a lot of subjects.

And when I say Darren is bad she is BAD. Calls beakers, conical flasks and funnels "CUPS". She cannot tell the difference. "What did you even study?" because he is genuinely shocked at her stupidity. "The textbooks take so long to decipher and barely have pictures..."

So Wirth ends up making them study into the night and for a week straight they start drilling in the basics. Which she semi understood until he pulled out models and analogies with his mud magic.

Thus begins their mentor/mentee dynamic and Darren unironically calling him "Professor"

So when she improves and gets passing grades just before the summer they're like super duper happy

They both do summer internships at the Bureau of Magic's Power Administration and Darren like knows his whole worth-power-value mindset origin.

"Why not go for something more attainable?" "Like?" "Your... brother?" "Why my brother?" "Surely, you're close to him." "Not really, we've barely talked since he went to school. He's much older than me..." "What's his job?" "He's a Divine Visionary." "What's his name?" "Orter." Darren gets struck with the biggest WTF???? since that guy tried to like kill her.

No wonder Darren was in such a sour mood when she first saw Wirth, he was related to the guy who hated her guts and nearly beat the crap out of her during the questioning she had to do at the Bureau!

"How about we get an internship over the summer and meet him?" and he's like ok.

And thus, we are exposed to Darren's self-centered/self-interested personality and lack of communication skills (since she thinks she's easily readable, SHE'S NOT)

She manages to set up a meeting between them (Rinka and Orter) and completely destroys his self-esteem and confidence by getting straight to the point. "Do you know he has sever self-esteem issues because you're not giving him any attention?"

Orter's tryna understand what's happening but Wirth is like what the hell: "I didn't ask for you to butt into my own problems!" and he fumbles his anger/embarassment towards Orter but broski is just like: "Is that true?" regarding Darren's question.

Rinka makes the situation worse by tryna deescalate the situation with a soothing/calming spell. "There's no need to use additional violence, ruins the atmosphere more than needed." Rinka comments. "I've placed a sound barrier too. It's a safe space."

Wirth at Darren - "I CARE THAT SOMEONE'S TRYING TO JUST SHOVE THEMSELVES INTO MY PRIVACY LKKE THEY KNOW ME!!" The 3 of them just watch him pop off at Darren before it devolves into his insecurities: "Are you trying to make me feel even more worthless than I already did?!"

"I only agreed to help you with your studies! Not to get help with my own life!"

"You can't just FIX me! You can't just come in like that expecting that everything gets resolved in an instant and then you take all the credit as 'mY sAvIoR', do you have any idea how INANE OF AN IDEA THAT IS?! No! Of course you don't! Because you only ever look after yourself!!"

"Wirth. Is what you're saying true?" and bro leaves with no answer (on the verge of tears)

Their whole dynamic crumbles and Darren has some REFLECTION TIME YAYYYYYY. Some slow improvement on Darren's part with Rayne's help (blud shows his point through his actions that mimic her behaviour)

Rayne points out that Darren is not as easy to read as everyone believes her to be. Specifically, regarding her hatred for Orter and that she'd never even try to think about sabotaging Wirth. "It's only been a month since you've joined, you collected 1 whole gold coin already. I doubt it."

And then she would have apologised in person but like. Wirth is studying for the hardest attainable credit ever??? so she writes an apology letter and prays it gets read because yeh.

Dw blud read it becuz the letter ended up in Shuen's fangirl mail inbox and bro got motivated a bit more and like: oh-kay...

They're friends again yayyyy and the DV Candidate Exam is happening and they bicker through the entire ordeal until they arrive at the final round. The 1v1 battles and he gets obliterated by Rayne *whomp whomp whomp*

But surprise! His bro watched him struggle and decided to give him some affirmation and suggests replacing him (Wirth) for the winter break visit because he's kinda like disappointed that he didnt get into the next round (he wanted to do a rematch against Darren) and like the dad favouritism/worth shenanigans.

Darren gets 2nd place and enters the Trimagicathlon.

When Darren heard the match ups she got mad because she wouldn't be able to fight Wirth. (In terms of raw power, Rayne is just superior that she was lucky to be blessed with her crazy cheatcode magic to make the matchup work.)

They were in different brackets too so it just added salt to the insult bro.

So they're friends again and because Wirth doesn't have to go to his parents Darren is like: Let's intern again! But before that, mid-terms/finals!!

And that's when people start to catch whiff off seeing the two together more often.

"Have you heard? The 3rd fang is seeing that crazy wandless psycho!" "What!? Aren't they rivals or something?" "Didn't you see them at the library earlier? They were smiling at each other!"

The Magia Lupus were also kinda curious about this too so they asked him and bro's reaction is priceless because he was immersed in making a model/analogies to help Darren until they arrived. Lost his composure, literally screamed in their faces for ruining the models, and like he legit says: "Even if I did like her she's only interested in Rayne Ames"

Ain't no way in hell he's gonna become a simp for her you know?

"Theoretically, what would happen if I said I had feelings for you?"

"I doubt anything would change. We'd bicker, help each other out. Bicker more. Oh and you might be able to join us for board game night."

Darren probably tried to get Rayne to join the Magia Lupus board game nights but he'd rather meet his bunnies over people so Darren gets comfy with them.

Criticizes their diets so hard (seriously why is wirth's favourite food fruit punch???), she literally is starting to become overworked as a 3rd year making nearly 15 lunchboxes every single day.

The main character syndrome it girl to overworked parent pipeline is so real for her.

She literally bonks their heads in s1 when she realises they did all that weird stuff. "I thought we were besties!" she shakes her head and penalties them to without magic for atleast 4 days.

Hi! In light of the Gressil-is-alive theory that i saw you post a while back, i was wondering if you had any theories or hcs on his return, backstory, or just his personality in general?

OH BOY! Do I got ideas for this dude…! Why thank you lovely anon for asking me such a fun question. I don’t get to ramble about this topic very much due to the fandom being so small hahahah

Big ass wall of text warning, and warning of spoilers of late fast pass chapters, you’ve been warned!

Honestly there’s a lotta options based on the knowledge we have right now as a fandom. And it also depends solely on if Ms freaky wants to prolong his stay in the series or not, and if she wants to mildly redeem(I use the word lightly lol) him or not as well.

On one side I could see a return being along the lines of he is acting how he has before, and has a hatred for Rayne and wants revenge. Though I feel like at this point that’s so bland it would be sad to see a story arc used like that.

Another possibility could be he comes back and has almost a bit of a worshipping mentality to Rayne. After all she did basically let him live(without her knowing of course) and gave him the ability to heal wounds completely over time. For a sadomasochist like him that is a wish come true surely lol

You have a middle ground where he is angry at her, but reluctant to want to kill her or hunt her down but utterly hates Raynes guts as well. The most likely of the options I feel based on Ms Freaky’s writing style. It lets him be dropped off as a character when not needed, without a need to flesh his character out anymore.

The more fun idea that I myself personally love is that he has amnesia. Though perhaps not the same as Rayne herself. But he DID get shot in the head, point blank nearly at that. Even if he does heal slowly, they could cause severe memory loss without the ability to even get it back. It could be a semi clean slate to begin actually writing about Gressil. And it would force Rayne to once again face the facts that not everyone stays how they were. She’s facing that with Raven slowly, and seeing Gressil be wiped clean nearly could force her to face the facts again and re-evaluate things. Even people she did know(mystery woman in her past!)if she gets memories back to realize some people also won’t ever change.

Ms freaky has a insane reluctance to want to even admit Gressil existed as a character 90% of the time. Only when she wants him for a joke does she typically talk about to bring him back in any way. Though the reluctance could easily be her avoidance to talk about Gressil due to spoilers she doesn’t want to say. But even then she did talk about Rayne, Raven, Kenny and others openly before they had story beats dropped on us and she managed to avoid spoilers. I can’t quite say if ms freaky just begrudgingly realizes the fact fans like Gressil or she’s simply avoiding talking about him due to spoilers.

Let’s see… back story wise, it could go anywhere for Gressil. He has so very little for backstory that it’s insane. Everyone in that arc BUT Gressil has at least hints of back story and are now being fleshed out much more. Or died and were given backstories with a decent amount of depth(Navin and Mateo), and here is Gressil with like. Nothing. I think personally at the time he was made, he was made to be an antagonist to Rayne and easy to hate and not much else. He was just a hurdle to jump over writing wise.

At this point if he does come back it’s likely his backstory is being added in to forward some other sort of plot. Whether that be making Rayne question her beliefs, adding a new member to the party(unlikely), having him join a group she is up against, or anything of the like. Whatever can push his character towards a direction that’s favoring to the overall story. Nothing to relevant much to my dismay surely.

Though if you want to delve into things, ms Freaky has described Gressil in ways that could add to how he acted before the apocalypse. She has described him as easily bored and rash(in relevance to her being asked about relatable traits in her OCs) he could easily have been a person during normal times that kept doing things outta boredom and enjoyed the idea of the world ending basically cause of the lack of rules.

A rule breaker at his core could mean he was a bully perhaps. Or at least picked on people in school. That is if he even went to school. He could have a shitty household life that made him take out his emotions in others as well. Or have a twisted view on things even. Mimicking behavior is likely, and Mateo could have been filling in a gap of whomever he mimicked from back in the day so it felt ‘normal’ to him. The thrill excites him so he could have done a lot in his normal times to try and get that adrenaline kick. Seemingly he lives off of it. But again it goes back to me thinking he had a shitty household life. Usually people who want those sort of high adrenaline kicks and risky things in life are ones who are always on high alert so you have to top it to feel anything and feel control. He’s a control junky as well, and utterly HATES being told he is wrong or being scolded. Especially by people he deems below him. Again it leads into the idea that he definitely has some sort of attachment to Mateo that is far from healthy. Mateo is the only one who seemingly can tell Gressil off and he is compliant and fine with it, and obviously enjoys it as well. Many kinks can also be gained from taking control of things around you that are less then favorable. Taking control of verbal and physical abuse both to one self and to others as a kink is… super big signs that he could have lived with and spring really cruddy people.

And a lot of this plays into his personality as well. Before the apocalypse he could have been much more inwardly aggressive. He doesn’t have the ability to take control of things around him so he could self compartmentalize much of this. Leading to him going all out when there aren’t any rules in line for him to keep on the narrow path he had to be on.

And if he comes back, especially in the case of amnesia, it could change his whole personality. Think of someone like him losing all of the mental struggles in one click of the fingers? It could easily change his whole personality. Even if he lost only chunks of his memories, it’s enough to lessen the damage he received from his past. He would still be Gressil, sadomasochist and power imbalance lover with a interest in blood. But it wouldn’t be to the extremes it is now. It’s a intriguing idea.

Overall there’s so many routes Ms freaky could take with him. And I’ll be damned if she doesn’t actually use this plot relevant snippet of him licking Raynes blood to bring him back and use him for interesting reasons. If she doesn’t, you best bet I will. It’s a waste of a story beat to me that was never dealt with properly at this point and leaves a string hanging out there in the wind.

Though, I think you’ve perhaps read enough ramblings of a madman at this point, right?

AThane and the symbolism behind the outfit

This has been on my mind for quite some time, pretty much ever since AThane was introduced to the game but it was only with the comic coming out that I realized just what was it that looked so important for me in his design. Yes, I’m not very fast on the uptake sometimes let me ramble xD

As usual, this will probably be a fairly long post so I’m putting it under Read More just in case. And yes, I know this is the Brutus month and tbh, I do love ABrutus and his story is amazing but I don’t really have much to say in terms of symbolism etc.

The Awakened heroes so far didn’t really have any MAJOR changes to their design. Sure, ATalene tied her hair back and got an extra pair of fluffier wings, and AEzizh got buffer and more blue and pink than red and purple but it wasn’t anything huge. There really wasn’t much going on in terms of theme or symbolism that wouldn’t already be there in their original form. Yes, ATalene looks more angelic than the old version and yes, AEzizh now ascends from a ball of demonic purple energy but these changes only emphasize what was already there, meanwhile AThane’s design completely flips the script on his previous aesthetics and feel.

Since his introduction to the game, Thane stood out as being one of the few Lightbearers with a darker theme to his design. Sure, he wasn’t the only one but it was still somewhat of a staple of his. His outfits consists mostly of dark blues, grays, and browns, a lot of them a little faded, and though he’s on his guard, his expression is somber. This goes double for his in-game model. And unlike the other darker-themed characters, he doesn’t really have much to lighten the overall feel up. Estrilda has her flag which has brighter colors and a nice rim of light (and her insane amount of revealed skin which also brightens the pic), Hendrik’s colors are overall lighter and he has more gold on his outfit, his hair being white also adds to a more positive mood, and we could go on. Standing out from the lineup would be Morrow and Scarlet but those are fairly late additions and their palettes are more purposely contrasting than the somber darkness we see in Thane.

In a way, this is tied to Thane’s mental state at that point of his story. After losing Baden, and blaming himself for it, Thane fell into fairly deep depression, one he only somewhat got out of after he started training Estrilda. But going off of the Solemn Vow storyline, even that didn’t exactly get him out of that state much and while he did come to genuinely care for her, how much of his teaching was because he cared and how much was because of his self-assumed debt to the Rayne family is still unclear. I think it’s safe to say that with Baden, a part of Thane died as well. And while Baden wasn’t exactly dead, there is no canon confirmation that Thane would know about that. This is one of the things I really wish they would’ve made into a webcomic since we are apparently getting some comics for some awakened heroes and it would allow for more emotional connection compared to the Voyage of Wonders and plain text description.

Furthermore, and the picture above is inverted since I can’t find the correctly-facing one, Thane lost his right arm at the same time he lost Baden. This isn’t enough to end his swordsmanship even if it was his dominant hand but no doubt was this a major blow for both his sense of self-worth and his everyday life. Again, this is already very symbolic of what happened to him because of the loss of Baden – he didn’t die but it would forever be in the back of his mind like a haunting reminder of his failure. For all means and purposes, Thane’s story could’ve ended there, leaving him agonizing over that one moment where he lost his... ehm “best friend” and his arm, the moment of his ultimate failure.

And then came his awakening.

Immediately, the first thing you notice is how much brighter this design is compared to the original. AThane is still wearing the same black suit but now with more gold, and his cloak has brighter colors. Even his hair – and a new goatee – changed from gray to blue. The addition of lighter shades, whites, and the overall light-feeling aesthetic also marks a big step for his mental state and character development. AThane moved to a brighter place. It is very fitting that Thane’s design choices are affected by him losing Baden, while AThane’s are directly tied to finding Baden again, and being able to prove himself worthy of him.

The motif for AThane’s outfit appears to be the peacock, both based on the colors and on the shape his outfit took. Peacocks are, among other things, universally considered the symbol of pride and confidence but various cultures assign them other meanings as well. In Native American cultures, peacocks could be used self-esteem, refinement, beauty, or even sexuality. Hinduism associates peacocks with prosperity, good luck, and protection. And finally, in Chinese history, peacocks were used to symbolize power, beauty, and even divinity.

It is therefore fitting for AThane’s theme to be so heavily leaning into the peacock motif for several reasons. Not only has he gained new power – and it was the power to protect – but he gained a connection to the divine by merging with the elemental wind mark. This was most certainly a tough choice, Thane avoided it for as long as he could, knowing how much of a strain it was sure to put on him. It was no sooner than he saw Baden ready to sacrifice himself for him AGAIN that he made his choice, thus ultimately making this choice about love. Now, whether you see Thaden as platonic or romantic, there is no doubt that some kind of deep love runs between the two. Last time, Baden was the one to act on it and take a tremendous risk. This time, Thane is the one to take the risk, not willing to fail Baden again, even if it costs his life. And finally, we get to the final point of AThane’s design.

Notice how the right side of his cloak is so heavily decorated with the feathers while the left side is relatively plain, the feather design instead appearing on his sleeve. This is the part I newly realized and that really knocked the air out of me once it clicked. By his self-sacrifice, AThane not only made up for his previous mistake, but he gained wings. His arm won’t ever come back, much like Baden will never be human again, but there is now something to substitute it. Now, I’m sure I don’t have to get into the common associations when it comes to wings, but let me just bring up a few most common – and most interesting – ones.

Wings symbolize protection. In multiple official arts of AThane, he seems to be using his missing arm as a way to deflect blows, the shoulder piece serving as a bright shield. This also tracks with how he even gained this new power – in an attempt to protect Baden, on a mission to protect Estrilda, and ending up giving him the determination to try and protect the world.

Wings symbolize freedom. In AThane’s case, it’s the freedom from his haunting past, and the ability to overcome it. It’s a freedom of his weakness and of the fear that he would end up losing everyone again. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this, we saw the character developing deep relationships and let himself get close to people again. He might even feel free to express himself some more. One thing I certainly hope to see once we finally get to the culmination of this arc is Thane, completely exhausted after the battle, perhaps hurt, but looking over the people who helped him get there, and smiling, or perhaps even laughing, letting all the stress and responsibility wash off of him.

And finally, wings symbolize purity and divinity. I touched upon the divinity before but I want to mention it briefly once more because angels as we know them are often intimately tied to both of the previous ties. But furthermore, they are gentle, often self-sacrificing creatures who serve as protectors, soldiers, messengers, and more. This role is fitting for a character like Thane who was a soldier, a castellan, a detective, an arrand boy, and now finally also a protector. It also symbolizes a rebith of sorts. With his rise from the dark depths his mind was in before, he can now fully embrace a new calling.

AFK Arena (luckily) doesn’t have a habit of killing off playable characters but if it did, I believe it to possibly be the perfect culmination for AThane’s arc. This is just my opinion so absolutely feel free to yell at me. I simply think that AThane gaining wings and then possibly falling in the final battle, possibly shielding his allies instead of going in for a reckless offensive, would be the most fitting end to his character development, showing us just how far he’s gone. From someone who needed others to die for him, to someone willing to protect others with his life. But even if this is not going to happen any time soon, simply the fact that he was willing to risk it for the mere chance of being able to save others is already an incredible step forward.

Well, that would be it for this analysis. I plan on going more in-depth about why the characters were picked for their particular elements too but since we only have two so far, that might have to wait. Speaking of which, we’re left down to fire and water, and Wilders and Graveborn. I wonder who will take which element? Wilders already have a character associated with fire, and Graveborn have multiple water-related characters so seeing a switch would certainly be interesting. There’s also the Daimon song video that has the grave symbolized by a large body of water so that could also be a hint... Well, we’ll see in two months. Until then, let me know what you think.

IN HER LIFE, rayne has rarely felt so understood. caroline, though, is the first person to know her so thoroughly; she’s also the first person rayne has ever known so deeply that she can recall minute details even after this many years. as much as rayne loves gem, and always will, caroline is rayne’s first for so many things it can’t be ignored. she isn’t going to pretend there aren’t things rayne doesn’t know about this version of caroline, she’s not so full of hubris to think the blonde is exactly the same as when they were in high school, but rayne is willing to bet she still knows caroline’s innermost workings.

the restaurant is too stuffy. all of a sudden it’s such an uncomfortable space for this reunion. rayne’s never been much for the more upscale dining, preferring hole-in-the-wall diners, and similar places. like the food truck caroline suggests. this is their out. neither one of them wants to be in this restaurant anymore; it’s not not their place, not for how comfortable and casual their interactions have always been. homey.

painted lips curl at the corners the second the escape is suggested. ❝that sounds absolutely perfect.❞ she’s finishing her glass of wine and flagging down the waiter before either of them can change their mind. rayne gives him her credit card before caroline can even contemplate arguing. they’ve only had wine, it’s nothing horribly expensive. once the bill is covered and her card returned, she’s out of her chair ( smile never fading ) and grabbing her jacket. a food truck, fries, burgers—that’s her and caroline. light, simple, easy. comfortable. god, she hasn’t been this excited in ages.

this isn’t a date. maybe it’s supposed to be, but for rayne it’s more; it’s better. this is caroline. it’s rediscovering her first love even if they’re just a couple of old friends getting to know the parts of their lives that have changed. there isn’t a date in the world can can come anywhere close to this.

SHE EXHALES , once they’re standing , once the check has been paid . it’s strange , how much easier it is to breathe as they make their way out of the restaurant . an hour or so earlier , she was obsessing over her hair and makeup , seconds away from texting rapunzel that she was going to cancel . that as much as she loves ted , there’s no way in hell that his old friend ray from college could be that great . she was convinced that she couldn’t date . and how could she ? when she’s lost so much . when there’s a stefan-sized hole in her chest that she’ll never be able to fill .

they make it outside and caroline feels some of the tension slip out of her shoulders . rayne isn’t far behind her , and before she can think too much on it , caroline turns on her heel to face the brunette . ❝ i’m really bad at dating , and i’m really like , not interested in the whole game thing that comes along with dating , and i won’t say that this is like , fate or anything , because i’m pretty sure that somewhere , theodore wyatt is having a really good laugh about this and i’m definitely going to kick his ass for it --- but just because i’m bad at dating and i don’t have it in me to get my heartbroken again i just want to put all cards on the table and just...give it to you straight , okay ? ❞

she pauses long enough to breathe , and she’s pretty sure that somewhere , raps is pinching the bridge of her nose over how thoroughly she’s screwing this up . ❝ you’re the love of my life . one of them , anyway , and i know most people think you only get the one but i think that’s depressing and even before stefan , it was you , and i --- i don’t really have it in me to have you and lose you again , and i definitely don’t have it in me to lose someone else the way i lost stefan . ❞

she’s rambling , a tangle of frayed nerves and barely suppressed grief , but rayne has always gotten her . and right now , she’s selfishly hoping she’ll get her again . ❝ i wanna get burgers with you but if we’re getting burgers as old friends then you need to tell me before i get it all worked up in my head . because i do that . you know i do that . ❞

I feel bad I’m not posting art I just really want to ramble about max headroom and My oc charles

(Again note I’m still in process of watching the tv show so my information and learning of max is still new I may get stuff wrong please don’t get mad or upset as I’m still learning about the character, as well it’s my headcanons-

Rayne cutely rambling: max and Charles is something special aaaa a words hard,

Charles found his tv in the junk, repaired the screen and plugged it in to see if it worked to see would work, Charles likes to collect vintage tvs, hobby of his, anyways he fixes up tv gets it to turn on and is greeted to max, Charles at first is startled but they meet and talk and Charles realizes max has been alone for so long, Charles keeps him around and enjoys his company. Charles just trying to catch max up to date of being well off for so long, and since max can’t go digital Charles found alternatives, he uses other vintage tvs he has and well plugs them together giving max more space to roam,

Me: cutely makes au where network 23 built a body for max and Charles takes max and goes to find the now abandoned warehouse for max because yea, then it goes two ends because silly ai man that’s morally questionable

While Charles takes care of max, max goes on about the network he lived at called network 23, and how before everything shut down he was supposed to be given a proper body, Charles just being the gullible inlove man he is promises max to take him to the now abandoned place to get it for him, Since max is from “the future” where tv networks control how people few things he’s learned how to lie, he doesn’t do it all the time but he isn’t aware how humans are, he’s just programmed weirdly, being with Charles what he was taught from networks to say was off, he’s seen a good genuine person. Charles takes him to the network across country and he follows through max’s orders

I know max is seen as like for not caring about other people and their welling being, manipulate, so him learning from Charles and sees he’s genuine to him, he gets redemption in a way, I’d even describe him as reckless in a sense, as he doesn’t understand human emotion as long it benefits him, he’s content.

I like him with Charles as max learns on hand real genuine kindness as where’s he’s from it’s a world of buy buy buy and hate and lies, being around Charles who’s well a nice person and is really sweet he learns. He actually gets to learn and adapt..

IDK I just think they are neat and thanks to letting me ramble

It's far from the strangest thing Harry's said. No, he's said far stranger over far more trivial things. But no matter how many times Rayn tells herself she should be used to his quirks and mannerisms, he always manages to catch her by surprise. Not that she minds. It's not an entirely unpleasant experience. Harry's passionate, rambling tangents, his silly little comments, his strange way of connecting things and verbalizing his thoughts - she finds it all so endearing. She finds him so endearing. A huffing a little laugh through her nostrils escapes her as she moves to lean against his side. Her chin rests on his shoulder, head briefly turning to press a soft kiss to his cheek just above his bushy mutton chop. A brow arches up as she looks at him.

"Oh? I wasn't aware kindergarten has a smell, dear."

"Well, yeah--" he starts, lowering the shirt and freeing one hand from its grasp to wave about absentmindedly while he talks. "You've never smelled something and it brought you back to your kindergarten days? Like- Like grease for example! You've never smelled a really distinct greasy smell and been reminded of long lunch lines, and those crappy styrofoam trays you'd drag along the metal surface while you picked up a slice of square pizza? Or you've never smelled rubbery asphalt on a hot day and been reminded up a playground with a metal slide that scorches you when you try to use it?"

He pouts as Rayn laughs, the sound so soft and airy and sweet, he can't possibly be mad about it. She shakes her head, smiling warmly at him. "I can't say that I have, baby." She laughs again at his guttural groan. Mock frustration from him amuses her. Even so, he leans into her touch as he stares up at the ceiling. When he looks back, it's to see her staring at him. That warm, smitten look in her eyes pulls the corners of his lips up into a lopsided grin.

"What?" He asks, tilting his head like a precious puppy dog.

"Nothing, just..." she leans closer, her eyes lidding as she admires him in the morning's light. "You are such a wonder, Harry."
