Note
I'm ramming my head against my metal cage at all your WIPs!!! Can we get a synopsis or paragraph about each of them!?!!
Lol ok I guess I can give you all a little taste lol
The Twinkie Experiment
Basically this is a one off Ghostbusters x Reanimator breeding kink fic because I am self-indulgent and I have a HUGE thing for both Egon Spengler and Herbert West..... Do with that information what you will 😏
Cardinal Terzo Smut
I mean does this really need explanation lol. It's a short snippet about Terzo when he was a Cardinal with a very lucky Sister of Sin.
Against His God
OK NOW THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS TO GET MORE INTERESTING.... I am not 1000% sure if this will be a short fic, a one off, or if I will blow things up and make it a long multiple chapter fic, but basically this one features Secondo who is in love with a Sister of Sin. While they are deeply in love Secondo has trouble committing until he finds out that the Sister has been chosen to be Lucifer's Prime Mover in order for him to father the Antichrist (Lucifer choosing to take human form to perform the task). Secondo doesn't want this to happen and the two of them try and flee and stop Lucifer from consummating his plan with Secondo's lover.
What We Do in the Dark
Dracopia snippet fic with some blood, sex, and romance.
Something Special
This is a short chapter fic involving Special Ghoul and his wife trying to conceive a child. Here is the summary: After Special does an interview with a young child for Meliora, he realizes something is missing from his life. When finally returning home, he decides to find out if his happiness is worth putting his wife Adrienne at risk.
Lioness (Follow up)
This is a follow up to my fic, My Lioness, in which Copia and Cirrus are together and have a child.
Glitter Wasn't Gold
Papa Nihil multiple chapter fic telling the story of the conceptions of the Emeritus brothers and his relationships with the women who bore them.
Lia and Copia Sequel Snippet
This is a follow up fic with Papa Copia and his Prime Mover Rosalia as they welcome their second child. Based around fic, The Cardinal's Prime Mover, which was my very first fic I wrote for the fandom.
On the Edge of Tainted Lace
Copiiia x Prime Mover fanfiction. This is based on an alternate universe where Copia and Terzo ARE NOT related in any way shape or form.
Over His Head
Copia is going to be a Dad and his lover is trying to tell him but it doesn't click at first. It's for an ask I received here so coming soon!
Genshin Impact ask
This is a start to an ask involving the Papas and Genshin (not much at this time).
Copia and Saccharine Wedding
This is a follow up for my friend @sistersaccharine for her OC Sacchine and Copia's wedding which will also be coming soon.
Thats everything that has an active document so far (but more are planned because I like to torture myself lolol)

First scene that pops into my mind immediately is Herbert eating the little Debbie cakes. It’s such a hilarious visual, I’m obsessed
Ashdhsjdjjdjhjh I’m glad, it was written at like 3 in the morning (like most of the fic lol) and I’m glad people liked it.
That bit is actually because me and my friend keep quoting this meme (I forget who made it) and like, it’s never left my brain.

i think it is far too easy to forget what a silly fucking loser herbert is. like, yeah he tends to come off as very cold and no-nonsense, but he also jumpscares his boyfriend and smiles to himself while making weird little creatures and cracks stupid little puns even though he’s the only one that laughs at them. he gets so genuinely excited over his research and is equally excited to share it with dan!! he gets so happy when dan shows interest and investment in their work!! he’s fucked up and a huge asshole but also he’s so fucking silly!!!!!!

— Awaken, my love!
yandere!Reanimator x reanimated!reader
Tumblr media
Yandere! Reanimator who returns home after a long travel and is utterly distraught finding out that you tragically suffered from a contagious disease that spread rapidly through the once peaceful town.
Yandere! Reanimator who manages to find only some parts of your limbs and gets your perfect condition brain back from a merchant since somehow the dead diseased brains became a strange delicacy.
Yandere! Reanimator who sketches out your features on a clean parchment paper to remember what you look like and she disregards her moral compass to bring you back.
After fourteenth digging up, she had stopped hurling up the remains of dinner. Sweat dribbled down her forehead, pushing up her wireframes to see correctly. Her sweaty hands gripped the bloodied bone saw, tied a faded ribbon to the forearm.
“My love would want this.” She wiped the sweat from her forehead. “I’m doing this for them.”
Back and forth. Back and forth. She collected the forearm and pulled out an upper arm piece that started at the bicep to see if it would match to be a perfect fit.
She smiled returning to the basement, replacing the wilted flowers that you favorites with newer ones to cover up the overwhelming smell of rotting parts. Her gloved hands caressed your covered face, pulling back the white cloth to see the stitches of flesh littered over your face as some skin was too far burned to be saved and she couldn’t let you be even more broken.
Yandere! Reanimator who smiles and buys clothes for you which she still joins in the rare luncheon by fellow neighbors because she still has to make the rare appearance. She still celebrates your anniversary and birthday because all she needs is a time to continue.
Yandere! Reanimator who unwittingly follows the mourning period and has brought clothes that fit your body. She often forgets to care for herself because she’s deep into stitching the body parts and gets rid of flesh too far rotten.
Yandere! Reanimator who notices the odd stares from the town sheriff but ignores them. She smiles since today would be the perfect day to have you brought back and she happily set up the table where you would come back to her.
“My love.” She heard the downpour through the basement. “You’ll come back to me and everything will be normal.”
She placed you on the metal slab, opening the wooden doors and pulling the chains that lifted you towards the downpour and hearing the distant thunder coming closer and closer.
“Awaken, my love!” She smiled. “We have many things to do when you awaken!”
Her hands held an ax, haggard breathing escaped her lips. Her eyes looked towards the unconscious sheriff and then back to you whose lungs rattled against the rib cage, stepping back to the chain that pulled you back down. Her eyes widened, seeing you immediately sit up with your limbs cracking with each movement and the smile on her face grew even more.
Yandere! Reanimator who keeps the lips of the sheriff quiet by bribing and helps you get readjusted to the new reality and always keeps you inside during the day. She smiles when you try to leave the house but she manages to pull you back to her.
Yandere! Reanimator who’s facade is cracking because you’re wanting to be independent and going back to your old ways of being alive. She occasionally sabotages your attempts to be independent because she can provide for you.
Yandere! Reanimator who tries to stay calm because you started using a different name for yourself and now decided to ask her to create a new person that can understand you which fully cracks her calm persona.
Her hands were covered in spilled ink, her eyes filled with tears and lips trembled. Her pink dressing gown’s trim was coated with splats of blood.
“I did this for you.” Her stained hands grabbed your shoulders. “I did everything for you and you want me to create someone new for you? I won’t do it.”
Your unsteady eyes looked at her with a recognizable emotion; fear. Her once warming eyes bloomed with unbearable hatred and she pressed your back against the bookshelf.
“Why are you so ungrateful?” She asked. “You ask so much. I want the person I love back, I brought you back and act like an entirely different person.”
You managed to scramble out of her grasps and legs out the door and into the scorching sunlight. Watery eyes darted up to the white ball of the sun, your stitched hand rose up to cover one of your eyes. Your other hand grazed the green grass, your ears heard an unfamiliar noise which was a familiar mixture of bird’s shrieking with a human-like quality.
She found you once more, curled in the abandoned cemetery up. Her eyes looked at your disheveled appearance, she held your stitched face as you slowly came too. She held you close to her and heard the wheeze of your lungs, her hand rested on your nape and thumb next to your ear.
“I love you,” she said. “You will learn to accept my love.”

prompt: danbert trying to makeup after a particularly nasty argument
"You ruined my life!"
"You ruined your own life, now stop trying to ruin mine with your incessant whining."
Dan bared his teeth, the viciousness at odds with the redness of his eyes. With his shoulders shaking and his breath stuttering out of him in angry puffs, he looked just as ready to punch Herbert as he did to burst into tears. Herbert didn't know which he would've hated more.
"I wish I never met you," Dan bit out, the words barely scraping past his clenched teeth. "The world would be better off without you."
Herbert turned from the cupboard he was stacking dry dishes into--this is what he got for trying to make an effort around the house to appease Dan--and faced him, keeping his emotions simmering below the surface, where Dan couldn't see them. He injected cool indifference into his expression, watching Dan nearly bursting at the seams with all that he was feeling. So much hatred and passion, all for him.
"And what have you done for the world?" Herbert wondered, satisfaction unfurling in his stomach as he watched the blows land, Dan's mouth dropping open in hurt and shock. "Where are all these people you've supposedly helped? Saved? I don't see anyone. Anything of merit you've ever accomplished has been because of me. Without me, you're nothing. You mean nothing to anyone. Except me."
Herbert stared at Dan, watching him shake for a moment before Dan turned without another word and stalked away. His footfalls stomped loudly up the rickety wooden steps, followed by a door slamming shut.
Good. Let him stew and fester, Herbert thought, the words he'd spat at Dan leaving remnants of acid burning in his mouth. He tried to focus in on his task once again, piling plates atop each other and sliding them onto the shelf, but it seemed the one stewing and festering was him. He tried to shake it off, push the image of Dan's wounded expression from his mind, but those sad brown eyes refused to leave him.
Herbert stood on his toes, trying to place the glass salad bowl up on the top shelf, but all he could manage was pressing the edge of the bowl against the lip of wood. It wobbled precariously, half in his grip, half on the shelf, before he sighed and pulled it back down. How many times had Dan entered the kitchen to find Herbert struggling with that same damned shelf? How many times had he chuckled, taken the object from Herbert's grasp and put it away himself before turning back to Herbert and kissing his head?
It was a level of gooey domesticity that Herbert never thought he'd indulge in with anyone. But Dan wasn't anyone.
Cold tendrils of guilt and regret wormed their way into Herbert's chest and he sighed, knowing it was on him to clear the air. So, he slowly made his way up the stairs and down the hall to Dan's room. He rapped his knuckled lightly on the door before pushing it open.
"Dan?" he said, poking his head in.
Dan was sat on the edge of his bed-- one he'd shared with Herbert quite a few times now-- with his back to the door. He was slumped over, his face buried in his hands. Herbert wondered if he'd just been sitting there like that this whole time as he closed the door with a soft click behind him.
"Don't be mad at me," Herbert murmured, slowly pacing towards the bed. "You know I didn't mean any of it."
"Yes, you did," came Dan's husky reply. Had he been crying? "You meant it and you're right. I've never helped anyone."
"That's not true," Herbert simpered, crawling across the bed until he was on his knees and wrapping his arms around Dan's shoulders. "You've helped me. I don't know where I'd be without you."
When Dan didn't respond, Herbert laid his head down on Dan's back, squeezing him tight. In his experience, nothing thawed Dan quite like physical affection. He could pout and say sorry all he wanted, but if he wanted to shoot straight at Dan's heart, he needed him in his arms, needed him to feel the heat of his body. Herbert nuzzled at the back of his neck, soft hairs brushing his nose.
"Even if you're nothing to anyone else," Herbert said softly, "you're everything to me, Danny."
With his fingers knitted together over Dan's sternum, Herbert felt it when he dragged in a ragged breath. After a moment, Dan's hands pressed over Herbert's, cradling them between his dry palms. He squeezed Herbert's hands, pushing them close to his chest until Herbert could feel the steady beat of his heart drumming against his fingertips.
"Herbert," Dan whimpered, then said nothing more, as if there was nothing else he could even think to say.
Herbert just smiled against his back and held him.

★ Herbert West × Dan Cain
Tumblr media
Warnings: gay cuddling session, homos...
Summary: Hebert isn't too fond of cuddling but getting to hear Dan's heart beat pounding under his ear is captivating, a constant reminder that Dan is alive. This is enough to make Hebert cling to him like an ape.
Note(s): Herbert Dan cuddle session now!
“Herbert?” The sound of the basement door cracking open snaps Herbert’s eyes from where they land In front of him. “Herbert, it's almost 1am- you have to at least get some sleep…” Only 1am? That's two hours earlier than last night when Dan had tried to get him to come upstairs and go to sleep. Herbert concludes that not responding to Dan's pleas is better than taking his focus more off his work. “Herbert-”
This time he actually snaps his head up from his work to see Dan standing right next to him. When did he get so close? Had he not heard him? His glasses slide down his nose he feels his partner push them back up for him. Now he feels inclined to respond, the look Dan is giving him makes him feel guilty. “Dan you know how little sleep means to me-” his partner's face sags into an even more pleading look, a kicked dog Dan looks like a kicked dog. Herbert signs, snaps his gloves off and sheds himself of his lab coat. Dan instantly perks up like he's won a race or got his favorite treat after doing a trick. “Don't make me second guess Dan.”
Dan's face only falters slightly but he still wears triumph unapologetically. “My room?” Herbert gives him a look. “Ok- your room it is then…” Herbert shifts on his feet and looks to the ground avoiding Dan's gaze. His partner doesn't say anything but turns around and they both head upstairs.
Herbert follows Dan into not his own room but to Dan's. He's thankful for Dan's perceptive nature because he can't let Dan know that he likes sharing a bed with him, that would be too embarrassing. Oh and his own bed is too small for two people.
He watches as his partner sheds his shirt so he's only in a tank top and his pajama bottoms. The bottoms being lined with dogs in funny hats- Herbert wants to comment on Dan's stupid choice in pants but he can't because he bought them for Dan and he's just as at fault.
Dan turns to Hebert seeing that he is still in his button up, tie and black slacks. He hasn't even taken off his shoes. He rolls his eyes making his way over to his boyfriend. “Herb-” Herbert gives him a glare and Dan just smiles.
Herbert doesn't stop Dan from lacing his fingers around his tie and instead relaxes into his touch and slight tugging. He loves when Dan does this, taking care of him. Soon Dan goes to start unbuttoning his shirt and Herbert takes Dan's wrist and has to pry him away from his collar. “Thanks Dan, you've done enough.” He starts to shed himself of his shirt; he doesn't miss Dan's hazed look of admiration as he rids himself of his clothes.
He's only left in his undershirt and boxers and by that point both of them decide it's time to close in for the night. Getting under the covers, Hebert goes to turn off his lamp next to him. Dan beats him to it reaching across from where Herbert lays; he clicks the lamp off bringing his arm back to himself. He stops midway and in a lazy haze and chuckles to himself. Herbert furrows his eyebrows at him. He goes to open his mouth in question but his partner reaches his hand up and plucks the frames from his face, Oh. “You left your glasses on.” His eyebrows immediately unfurrow and he gives Dan a nod in understanding.
He lays there as Dan turns off his own lamp. In a still corpse like position he closes his eyes in hopes he will catch some Z’s. He knows it's futile but he does it to comfort his half awake partner beside him. He's rigid and cold, the blankets do nothing to help, he doesn't move though.
The bed dips in weight next to him and he doesn't care enough to shift his attention anymore towards it. He's about to go back to being cold and rigid for even longer when an arm wraps around his head sliding down to his shoulder. “Dan?”
He doesn't respond, only moving Herbert to rest his head onto his chest, right over his heart. Dan's had this idea since he and Herbert first started sleeping in the same bed occasionally. He thought it would help Herbert sleep if he could listen to something other than his own thoughts. He thought his heartbeat would be a good contender.
Herbert lies there stiff but only for a couple of seconds he wants to ask questions bombard Dan with accusations but he finds himself unable to, because the rhythmic thudding in his right ear silences any plotting he had previously. Dan's heartbeat.
It captivates him as he relaxes into its sound. He counts its beats and he soon finds it to be the only thing he wants to hear for the rest of his life, for the rest of the life he and Dan share together. He wonders if Dan would like to hear his heartbeat. He throws that thought away immediately because his own heartbeat is too erratic and the fact that his blood stream is mixed with the reagent won't help in its beating.
The stiff position at which he was first brought into Dan's side melts away and he finds himself latching onto Dan like his own life depends on it. He finds himself modeling into Dan as if he sticks to him enough he'll be able to never let go and maybe then their heartbeats will sing together.
Dan lets his boyfriend cling to him in a new found bonding likeness and he finds himself wishing they could stay like this forever, he knows his heartbeat has picked up pace and he knows Herbert would have to have noticed by now. He hopes he has. Dan finds himself bringing his hand up, the same one he used to pull Herbert over, and place it onto Herbert’s bicep tracing up and down his thumb into the skin. He tries to match it to his own heartbeat because he thinks it'll help sooth Herbert and he finds it does because he looks down and is delighted to see that his boyfriends breathing has shallowed out and little mumbles started to pour out his lips. Dan finds triumph in Hebert sleeping soundly because of his efforts. He wants to burn this image into the back of his eyelids so he can look at it Every Time he closes his eyes to sleep. He'll have to pitch the idea to Herbert sometime.
Struggling to keep his eyes open any longer he lets them flutter closed on their own, slipping into a soft sleep himself. He doesn't worry about work in the morning because he knows he'll sleep like a dog tonight. Herbert’s weight over him secures him in place and his slight mumbling lulls him to sleep.
I love when gay people have hobbies!

Jeffrey Combs throws back his head so prettily
His Throat
Mini-fic. Not explicit. Combs character of your choice / you
He has such a pretty throat. If he exposes it to you, you’re not responsible for the consequences.
He’s next to you on the sofa, both of you relaxed and languid from the bottle of wine you just shared. You’ve been watching a movie together. Or rather, he’s been watching the movie and you’ve been watching him.
Over the last half hour you’ve been sneaking glances his way, your eyes discretely roving over his slim form as he lounges, half covered by the throw blanket on the cushion next to yours. You can’t deny that you’ve been attracted to him for some time, and judging by the way he shamelessly ogled you in the kitchen earlier when you were uncorking the bottle, you know he appreciates the way you look tonight too.
He pulls you out of your reverie as he shifts slightly on the sofa with a sigh of comfortable contentment, throwing his head back on the cushion.
He’s just fully exposed his slender white throat to your greedy gaze. Your mouth waters and your eyes narrow as they flick to his Adam’s apple, appreciating how it moves when he swallows, enjoying the unobstructed view.
Emboldened by the alcohol and unable to help yourself, you lean forward and nuzzle into him, boldly sliding your wet tongue up the entire length of that perfect ivory column, clavicle to chin.
He hums in delighted surprise, eyes slipping shut as he tips his head back a fraction further to give you better access, a small, almost imperceptible sound of pleasure escaping him as you move your fingers up his body to splay across his chest.
You pull a louder, undeniably needy moan from deep within him as you begin to gently explore his neck with your teeth. You find a delightful little place to nip at behind his ear that forces a very pretty eyelid flutter and hitch of breath from him.
He softly squirms and keens as your explorations get more daring. You’ve moved your body into his lap, and are now alternating between teeth, tongue and lips as you worship his beautiful neck.
He reaches forward to pull you flush against him, both of his arms wrapped tightly around the small of your back. You’re close enough to feel his body’s positive reaction to you.
“How did you know?” he rasps breathlessly, pulling you away from him briefly and tipping his chin down so that his mouth is a mere whisper away from yours.
“How did you know I wanted you so badly?” he murmurs as he closes the gap between your mouths, kissing you hungrily as he deftly moves your bodies to position himself above you, the movie you were watching long forgotten.
Your legs move apart to make room for him, and he presses his body weight down, pulling a desperate noise from your throat as you press yourself upward toward him on the sofa cushions, both of your bodies now aching for more contact.
You’re drunk on the taste of him. The smell of him. And as you peer upward through your lashes, you can see that you are clearly having the same effect on him that he’s having on you.
His fingers are teasing at the hem of your shirt, the pads of his fingers finding the supple skin underneath, sending a surge of warmth up your spine.
He’s desperate now. His eyes are ravenous as your mouths pull apart, raking devilishly over your body, and moving to dart between your eyes, lips, and your own tender neck. He’s wordlessly asking the question. Should I? Do you want it? Do you want me?
In reply, a wicked grin ghosts across your face as you move your chin up to expose your own throat to him. He shudders in delight, eyes darkening and lips parting as he surges forward.

Baby Did You Come Back Wrong
Back on my necromancer Steve bullshit with the came back wrong trope this time.
Warnings: Reanimated Billy Hargrove, Neil Hargrove dying, blood drinking.
Baby Did You Come Back Wrong (I’ll Love You Anyway)
Steve is half asleep on the couch, covered in dirty but too tired from the night's activities to trudge upstairs to the bathroom for a much needed shower. He is dozing more than sleeping, amped up and the memory of what Billy had looked like when they cracked open his grave is haunting him. So every time he gets close to sleep there is that memory twisted in a nightmare where it did not work, where Steve was not able to work life back into him.
The phone goes off, the ring loud in the quiet of the house, echoing off the walls shrilly. He thinks about ignoring it, about dragging the pillow over his head and pretending he really is sleeping. Deliberates so long it stops, quiet surrounding him once more, almost louder than before in it’s nothing ness.
He jumps when the phone starts up again, nearly falling off the couch with it. He gets up by the second ring and trudges to the wall phone in the kitchen, leaning against the door frame as he picks it up. “Hello?”
"I think Billy came back wrong." Max whisper shouts from the other end. Steve blinks a few times at the wall and shakes his head. He was a little off when he came back, a little more quiet, more reserved. He experienced a traumatic death. It would be stranger if he came back completely fine.
"No, he came back perfect." Skin shifting from drawn taunt gray to plump with collagen and that golden tan that is just part of Billy’s genetics. His hair that had been brittle was bouncy again, lush golden curls framing his face, hanging down to his shoulders. No black veins or black goo as Steve worked magic to fill in the holes of his body with borrowed flesh. He came back healed but full of scars littering his body and Steve is sure they litter his psyche as well.
"Steve!” There is panic in her voice drawing him out of the memory of Billy’s blue eyes going from glassy to bright and shining, staring up at Steve with clarity as he offered a hand to help him out of his grave. Max lowers her voice again, nearly gritting out the words. “He definitely came back wrong."
Steve sighs, rubs a hand through his hair and then grimaces as he looks at the dirt under his nails. Starts rubbing his thumb nail under the nail on his index finger trying to work the dirty away. "Max, he just has to get used to being back." Steve cannot imagine it, not really. He has never died, only had near death experiences courtesy of the upside down. He doubts even those experiences come close to actually dying.
"He killed Neil!" Max shouts again making him jump, nail slipping and digging hard under his other nail. It hurts, makes him hiss like a disgruntled cat.
"Oh…” Steve knows he should care that Billy killed Neil, knows it should be a big deal. He does not care though, from what he knows it is probably justified. Billy deserves some revenge on the one monster still around to take it. “From what I understand he probably deserved it." Besides, he could have attacked anyone, could have lashed out at Steve or Max in the graveyard, or fled and gone after some random passerby. He didn’t so either Neil instigated or at least Billy knows who is and is not the enemy. So not a big problem even if a dead body is inconvenient, Steve already knows the location of a recently vacated gravy.
Max is not as reasonable and understanding as Steve yelling in his ear again. "STEVE!” He sighs tiredly and knows even if he could manage to sleep he will not be getting the chance anytime soon. “Billy is hunched over Neil licking the blood from the ground."
Oh! That is worthy of alarm. "I'm on my way." Steve’s own voice is the loud one this time, hanging up before way is even full out of his mouth.
Fuck Steve hopes this is not going to be a thing. He does not think he has the heart to put Billy back in the grave if it comes to it. He needs to make sure it never comes to that.
TBC ??? Maybe

“Of Herbert West, I can only speak with mild annoyance,” Dan tells the police when he finally stops shaking for long enough to string more than two words together. And oh, how they waited for that moment, with the recorders and notepads ready, impatient and faux-polite every time Dan tried to answer a question and broke down instead. Now, now he’s calmer, but also not that helpful since all that’s happened is just kind of foggy. Probably for the best. “Though we shouldn’t speak ill of the dead,” he adds, remembering the lessons he’s been taught from a very young age, because he’s always been a good kid.
The officer gives him a weird look after that last part.
“And there’s no reason to,” Dan says hurriedly. Why, he can’t tell. “I mean, in West’s case. He kept to himself, mostly. He… studied a lot, I think. Kept regular hours. Paid on time, didn’t party, didn’t have anyone coming over.”
Never left a mess, Dan wants to add, but that is so blatantly untrue given the circumstances, the words just refuse to leave his mouth.
“Then why the annoyance?”
Dan squints at the policewoman, trying to figure out what kind of question is that. Are they already gathering evidence against West? Well, yeah, probably, that’s why he’s here. There’s no suspect, no one to arrest anymore, just an entire morgue out of order and a lot of dismembered corpses. And some ... complete corpses. He wonders briefly to which group Herbert’s belongs, but tries to focus, lest he goes into shock once again. The officers here were clearly not taught how to deal with it, just like with everything that happened at Miskatonic. But it doesn’t seem like Dan was particularly prepared for any of that as well, and West’s fate suggests neither was he. Still, he gave Dan his notes, his life’s work, and Dan should probably hold on to these, otherwise it’s all for— all—
“What annoyance?” he asks.
He has to admit, the officer is really trying to remain polite. “The one you’ve just referred to, Mr. Cain,” she says, and she doesn’t even roll her eyes.
Dan pauses, considering the question. It’s not just that it’s the police asking it, it’s— it’s also the subject. He doesn’t know how to put it all into words, the insufferable demeanor, the ill-timed jokes and weirdly intense stare, the way West moves — moved — noiselessly, sneaking up on you until you— you were constantly on edge. The clipped voice, the contempt radiating from his every gesture, the absurdly well-pressed shirts that made everyone around him look sloppy. And other things as well, the things West caused.
But, no matter how much Dan would love for that to be true, he didn’t cause them all by himself. Dan was substantial in achieving this clusterfuck, and while West suffered the consequences, while Meg is lying there, Dan is apparently fine, absolutely fine and unharmed, struggling with putting a tenth of it into words.
He settles on, “Have you met Herbert West?”
“Yes, actually.” The officer winces. “Been called by the hotel staff to investigate a funny smell in his room last month.”
“Huh,” Dan says, unsure how to react without offering any information that would lead to the notes being confiscated. He should just give them to the police freely, he really should. They’re the cause of… all of this. They, and Dan.
“We found a rabid hamster,” the policewoman adds cheerfully.
Of course they did.
She waits for a second, awkwardly, clearly expecting an answer, but since there’s none, she returns to the original line of questioning.  “So you didn’t spend much time with Mr. West?” she asks, her smile only getting wider, as if that was supposed to hide the obvious trap.
Is it a trap, though?
“Not much.” Dan shrugs. “We worked different shifts. Barely passed each other in the kitchen.”
It’s not a lie.
The woman makes a show of shuffling papers and pretending to read something, and now Dan’s not that sure about her being polite anymore.
“It’s odd,” she says with hesitation that screams insincerity. “It says here in the report that he used to visit you at the morgue.”
Some part of Dan tells him he should be alarmed by the course of the conversation, but the rest of him can’t focus for long enough to tell why is that, too busy trying to avoid thinking about the place the officer’s just brought up.
“He came to visit once,” he says warily. “It just happened to be at the time when, um.” When the Dean was killed sort of by them? He was supposed to go the police with this fact himself, wasn’t he. And now, now they’d probably believe him, given what’s transpired. He told Meg he wanted to confess, he just needed proof. There’s plenty of it now. This is the perfect opportunity to face the music and, well, no, not come clean. Dan will never be clean, he’ll never be able to reverse or even atone for what happened, especially now, with West gone, when all of this was for nothing and all what’s left is the notes Dan traded for West’s life. “When the Dean came by as well,” Dan finishes, and it’s half this weird loyalty for his dead accomplice, half simple cowardice. “And got… angry.”
The officer gives a perfunctory nod and pretends to jot that down. Dan is pretty sure the subject is going to come back sooner or later.
“It’s an odd place to pay a visit,” she comments for now.
“Well.” Dan’s muscle memory immediately tells him how to rub his neck sheepishly. It would have had a better effect, though, had the hand not returned smeared with blood. He’s changed already. How the fuck did that happen? Does he still have blood in his hair? What else, then? “You know. It’s the place I worked in.”
“And why did Mr. West decide to visit you at work?”
Um.
“He knew I was upset that day.” Technically true, but now what? Do they know about the student loan? It’s not really an information he should volunteer to the police, it sounds like a motive. “My cat died the day before. It was rather… sudden,” he decides to say. “I had sort of meltdown when I learned about it.”
“What sort of meltdown?” the woman asks, and only now Dan can see the mistake he’s just made. Way to go, he’s probably being promoted from a witness to a possible suspect. “Are you prone to those?”
All he can do is shake his head.
“Were you angry that day?”
“No, just sad,” Dan says hurriedly, trying to salvage the situation. Though he wasn’t supposed to be doing that, he was supposed to come clean. “It just shook me up a bit, I’ve had him for years.” He gulps, but there’s absolutely no saliva in his mouth now. “Death… is always something hard to accept.” Still technically true. Can one perjure themselves outside of the court? Is that an offense that actually exists?
The officer’s sympathetic expression is what makes Dan remember why exactly he’s here. Ah yes, dealing with death. Yeah. It’s funny, how you can ignore an open wound for entire minutes, and then it reopens, even though it’s been there, gaping, all along. Now, it’s somehow bigger, and Meg is much more dead than a second ago, as if that were a gradable adjective.
But given that death indeed is something hard to accept — and there are so many ways of not accepting it, turns out, much more than Dan’s ever suspected — he just refuses to acknowledge the reality for a second longer, and carries on, “So he came to check up on me. He knew how much I liked him.”
“Oh.” The policewoman brightens up in a gotcha! kind of way. “So you two were close after all.”
“No, no, no.” Dan’s response is so hurried, it’s hardly natural. “I meant Rufus.”
“Who’s Rufus?” the officer asks in confusion that appears actually genuine this time, and Dan wants to scream.
It’s such a small thing, really, but it’s like he just can’t communicate the simplest thought, and that’s not even the real problem here. He doesn’t know what the police wants from him, and if he doesn’t know that, he doesn’t know what information to avoid.
Why is he trying to avoid anything, anyways? The worst has already happened. He can’t hurt West, nor Meg. Not anymore, that is. He’s done a pretty good job until that moment, though.  He tries to inhale through his nose, but it’s a bad idea. Some occupants of this office must have no reservations when it comes to smoking indoors, and the smell is making his nausea worse.
“Rufus is— yeah, um.” Jesus. Come on. “Rufus was—”
There’s a pathetic stutter even he can hear, and it’s not like he’s talking about a person or anything. It’s just Rufus, for now. There will be people he’ll need to talk about. How is he going to deal with the funerals if he can’t mention a dead cat?
Will he be expected to say something? In front of the casket? That probably depends on who he was to Meg, finally. A fiancée? Kind of, but more probably a boyfriend. She accepted his proposal, fine, but he’s not sure whether he accepted hers. He got distracted. No, actually, Herbert distracted him, and Dan’s pretty sure that was on purpose. Did they break up for real last night? Maybe an ex-boyfriend, then. Murderer? That one for certain, so why would they let him into the church at all? Does he have the right to go there?
At least in case of West, he’s pretty sure the event is not going to take place at a church. They’ve never discussed faith — why would they? — but something tells Dan, West wasn’t a very devoted follower of any religion. It’s entirely possible that he avoided temples because he’d burst into flames the moment he entered one of those. No one’s going to care enough to intervene, no matter who shows up during the very much secular ceremony, anyways. If anyone decided to come at all.
Dan would come. He’d want to come, he realizes. There, unlike at Meg’s funeral, he wouldn’t be an impostor but an accomplice. He deserves to be there, whatever the hell that means.
“Rufus was the dead cat,” he finishes as neutrally as he can.
“Hmm.” Now, the officer’s eyes are sharp again. Calculative, though in a different way than West’s were. She, for one, doesn’t seem insane. “There is a weird pattern of animal abuse allegations with Mr. West,” she remarks, trying to make it sound offhanded. “Five different cases, and every time, without fail, turned out it was a false alarm.”
“Rufus got his head stuck in a jar,” Dan says automatically. Doesn’t know why. “Suffocated.”

I was rewatching bride of reanimator but with the commentary with Abbott and Combs and Combs came up with an amazing idea of Reanimator 3 where West and Cain become rival scientists...that would've been a better follow up than Beyond Reanimator. Gimme the friends to enemies to lovers storyline 😭😭😭

Herbert West x gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
Herbert was busy working in his laboratory when you came in. He was so focused that he didn't even hear the door loudly close behind you. He had what looked like an arm in front of him, and he was attaching it to a body.
"Well, hello there, Mr. Scientist..." You said in a flirtatous tone. Herbert almost jumped when he heard you.
"Jesus, Y/N, can you not knock?" Herbert sighed, putting down the arm.
"Oops, my bad, Mr. West, Didn't mean to interrupt your work." You giggled. Herbert gave you a quick small smile and then turned around, rummaging through the various items on his desk. When the finally found what he was looking for, he turned around slowly and held it up in the air.
"The new serum." He called it. It was a syringe with green liquid, though it looked darker than the ones from before.
"Well, why don't you show me what this serum does?" You asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"But... Dan's not here yet." Herbert complained.
"So? Maybe that makes it... Better." You grinned.
"Yes... Perhaps you're right. You are, after all, way more supportive. And I could go without his useless whining today." Herbert agreed, nodding.
Herbert pointed out the feet of the body. "The feet of a ballerina." He pointed to the legs. "The legs of a stripper." The stomach... "The stomach of an anorexic..."
The arms and hands of a lawyer"
"The head of Dan's patiention"
"And the heart of Dan's dead girlfriend."
"And what made you want to make her?" You asked.
Herbert blushed. "Well... It started out as just an experiment, but... well, I guess I suster get lonely..." He confessed.
"You're kidding. You? Herbert West? Lonely?"
"Listen, Y/N, I do not appreciate the soke. I am human which means I have emotions just like do and although I do not believe in love I still like the feeling of caring for someone and being cared for."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Herbert. I didn't mean it..." You apologized profusely.
"It's alright, Y/N. Please just don't ever belittle my feelings." Herbert sighed, turning back to his experiment.
"If I'm being honest, Herbert, I feel the same way." You told him.
He ignored you.
This poor man was so oblivious, he must've never experienced love during his whole life. You felt bad for him.
"Oh my goodness, take a goddamn hint, Herbert!" You blurted out.
Herbert looked at you with a surprised and confused expression.
"What are you talking about?" He asked.
"I'm talking about the fact that you never notice the hints I practically throw at you." You explained.
"What hints?"
You rolled your eyes and cupped his face with your hands. "These hints."
Herbert blushed and stared up at you, your eyes locking. You adored him.
"Y/N, are you trying to tell me that you are attracted to me?" Herbert asked. You grinned and nodded your head, getting in front of him and sitting on his lap.
"You know, for someone so smart.. You can be really stupid sometimes." You giggled.
"Well.. I think I could make time for you in my schedule. I must say, I have always found you very attractive, Y/N."
"I know." You winked. "Im not as oblivious as you are." You smirked, moving in and kissing his lips.
