I read your LWJ birthday ficlet, which then lead to me re-reading the RP verse, and now I'm wondering what post-marriage drunk!LWJ would be like. Would he run around screaming platitudes to WWX? Cry because WWX is so good? Yell at JC because how could JC not take LWJ up on his offer to shelter WWX from YZY's rage? (JC: wtf IT'S YOUR FAULT SHE WAS ANGRY IN THE FIRST PLACE-) I really just think drunk!LWJ shenanigans are best shenanigans.

“Wei Ying.” There is no response. Perhaps Wei Wuxian hasn’t heard him? “Wei Ying.”

Wei Wuxian huffs out a laugh. “Mn, your Wei Ying is here,” he says. “Lan Zhan, you don’t have to keep checking.”

“Have to,” Lan Wangji says, and then presses himself closer to Wei Wuxian.  “The last time I wasn’t checking, you went to Qinghe.” He barely suppresses a shudder at the thought. 

“Aiyo, here you go again, getting all maudlin over one drink,” Wei Wuxian tells him. He sounds fond - Wei Wuxian might be fond of him! What a blessing! He is the luckiest man in Gusu! “Nobody is going to Qinghe anymore, least of all me. Look! We made it back to Hanguang-fu!”

Lan Wangji looks at Wei Wuxian. “You said we would go and watch the stars,” he says. 

Wei Wuxian nods. “We can do that at home.”

Lan Wangji frowns. They do that all the time at home already. He’d wanted to do something special. 

“Think of it this way,” Wei Wuxian murmurs, shifting closer so Lan Wangji can wrap his arms around Wei Wuxian. “It’s much safer at home. What if we go somewhere else, and I get kidnapped? What will you do, then?”

“Kidnap Wei Ying back,” Lan Wangji says.

Wei Wuxian laughs. “Aiyo, er-gege, I like you so much.” 

Lan Wangji feels his lips stretch up into a smile. “Good,” he declares, and lets Wei Wuxian gently guide him back into the manor. 

“Ah, Xie-momo,” Wei Wuxian says, when Xie-momo comes to greet them. “I think er-dianxia needs a hot bath.”

Xie-momo nods. “And some tea,” she says. “I’ll have the servants make preparations.” 

“Xie-momo,” Lan Wangji says, “have you met my husband?” 

Xie-momo smiles, just slightly. “I have met the junwang, yes.” 

Oh, yes! “My husband is a junwang!” Lan Wangji exclaims. 

He maybe sways a little on his feet, but Wei Wuxian is very dependable, and rights him in no time. Lan Wangji loves that about Wei Wuxian. He loves that a lot! Wei Wuxian is always there! Lan Wangji can always count on Wei Wuxian to be by his side! 

He continues speaking to Xie-momo, “He was conferred the title due to his courageous efforts in the war. My husband fights very well. He is good with... With...” The words escape him, so he makes a swooshing noise.

Wei Wuxian lets out a bright laugh at that. “Lan Zhan!” 

Xie-momo arches an eyebrow. “Arrows?” 

Lan Wangji nods. Ah! She must’ve heard about Wei Wuxian’s impeccable skills as well! “Yes,” he says gravely. “With arrows. Wei Ying was very brave in the war. He is very talent. He fought very well.”

“I can imagine,” Xie-momo murmurs. “Is there anything else, er-dianxia, or can I be dismissed so that I can have the servants arrange for your bath?”

“You don’t want to hear more about my husband?” Lan Wangji demands. 

“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian says, patting his arm, “let Xie-momo get to work. You can tell me about your husband!” 

Lan Wangji considers Wei Wuxian’s words, and eventually nods - telling Wei Wuxian how much Lan Wangji loves him is a favourite pastime of his, after all.

one of the classics. this is also the fic that got me into the whole mdzs fandom. i literally just searched up kid fic on ao3 and this one seemed promising... so i read it without knowing who tf lan wangji or wei wuxian are... fast forward a few months later and all i can think about is “wangxian are married and have a son.” THEY’RE MARRIED AND HAVE A SON. now take that knowledge and add in modern wangxian as university music students who get married to take care of a-yuan and you’ve got yourselves this brilliant fic. also, i did not know you can endlessly pine for your own husband but with wangxian, anything’s possible

hello again, I’ve missed you ^^ it’s been a while right? how have you been doing? am finally starting to head towards the holidays aka my stress is decreasing which is nice :’) ah, I absolutely adore the design of the ost, it feels and looks so luxurious! and the photobook I have now is the same ;; all the mdzs merch I’ve seen seems to be such high quality! I should just dig out some translations for the photobook at some point hmm and oh, I like that instrumental too! what have you named that? :’D those other names work so well haha. I don’t think I have any names for them tbh, it’s a bit of a struggle sometimes when talking about them with other ppl XD

and oh you’ve thought about this even a lot! that’s so nice of you :’) hmm, I haven’t actually read that many mdzs fics? all that I’ve read has been about xicheng which is only a few really. I could recommend this one by TheWanderingHeart (I have only read the first chapter bc am saving this fic for later but this seems something like a must read as a xicheng fan haha and it really does sound amazing!), this one by Christian_Richtown (have read maybe 4 or 5 chapters and I adore this?) and then this modern xicheng au by WinterDreams (very insightful and I love it how they’ve brought events from the mdzs to the modern setting?) but if you’re not into xicheng then just ignore all of this :’D otherwise, I could also recommend my friend’s @i-am-just-a-kiddo‘s amazing mdzs fics which vary with parings and characters but are all stunningly written and very insigtful! especially their niemo (nhs x mxy) fic is one of my favorites ever :’)  and ah yes, I write some myself! reasons why I have not read that many fics are that I don’t want all of that to affect my own writing too much or put me down! and I am also very particular about my tastes in fics, even more so with mdzs it seems ^^’ but I will look into your recommendations at some point when I have a moment :’) with uni going on, reading is just... a struggle sometimes so I apologize for that  then a shameless self-promo time: I have this (on my level) gigantic xicheng project going on which I will hopefully finish soon! I’ve loved writing it and seeing it slowly end is making me super emotional on a daily basis. with that, I’ve written some xicheng snippets for xicheng week this year, one au oneshot for them and then some random oneshots for varying relationships bc I wished to write through lwj and wwx too (and mdzs has given me a lot to think about in general). it has been very much fun to write all of this! and this fandom has been very generous with lovely comments ^^  have a nice wednesday! and hopefully, I get to hear your lost question at some point :’D am excited about the reveals, it’s not that long before that :o december has gone by so quickly! but if that ain’t a mood this year lbh :’D

besanii, you and sarah-yyy have so many verses between yourselves I am now confused as to who wrote what and which one I was last reading and how do I end up on the other's blog if I am on one of yours first?

uhhhh my main two AUs are Shattered Mirrors and Double Happiness, everything else is mainly one-shot ficlets. I write primarily WangXian and very few other pairings (mostly by choice, although I may start branching out soon by request).

@sarah-yyy‘s main (active) AUs are Willful Blindness and Rebuttable Presumption and she does a lot of non-WangXian pairings as well??

As for why you might end up on the other blog, well…we reblog each other’s stuff a lot. I’m a massive fan of Sarah’s work so you’ll find a lot of her stuff on my blog etc.

Are you staying home from work/home?

I don’t technically have a job... I’m a stay at home mum. But yeah, the schools are closed and we are staying home and, other than the occasional walk, I am going out once a week for grocery shopping and that’s it.

If you’re staying home, who’s with you?

My husband, my two daughters, and our Maine Coon cat, Elsa.

Are you a homebody?

Yeah. Tbh, we don’t go out much anyway. Two kids and no family nearby means we rarely have nights out cos it means sorting a babysitter and hubby works away from home alternate weeks so when he is home he likes to enjoy spending time at home rather than going out. 

That said, I am kinda missing the routine of getting out the house at least twice a day for the school run and being able to e.g. just pop out to the shops when needed.

What movies have you watched recently? What shows?

Almost nothing. I’ve been in a really weird, unsettled mood and just not able to settle to watching anything. I have a ton of shows to catch up on, but just can’t seem to get into the mood for it. Only thing I’ve really watched is hubby and I have started watching Brooklyn 99 (a show I’d been meaning to watch and which he’d never seen either) so I’ve watched a few eps of that.

An event you were looking forward to that got cancelled?

Oh god, so many. But mostly on behalf of the kids, rather than events for myself. My oldest is in her last year of primary school and chances are schools won’t go back at all for summer term. So she will be missing her leaver’s disco, the Year 6 theme park trip, the Year 6 play (I was SO looking forward to seeing her perform in the Year 6 play!! *cries*), transition day where they get to go spend the day at the high school they are going to next school year... school trips have been cancelled, Brownies/Guides trips and events, soooo much. It’s also my oldest’s birthday today and she’s not been able to have a birthday party with her school friends like she normally would.ed

What music are you listening to?

Not much tbh. Whatever random song I think to ask the Alexa to play, Although I did have a moment of genius whilst cooking the other night and rediscover the amazingly atmospheric soundtrack album to The Crow.

What are you reading?

Fanfic really. I’ve been half way through a book for months and just haven’t been in the mood to pick it up. I’m addicted to @sarah-yyy‘s Wilful Blindness and Rebuttable Presumption verses and @besanii’s Shattered Mirrors and Double Happiness verses, all of which are The Untamed/MDZS AUs posting on tumblr.

What are you doing for self-care?

Not much. I am vegetating. :lol: I haven’t been putting any pressure on myself or the kids to get stuff done, we’ve just been taking time to adjust to the new normal. I haven’t dived into homeschooling them, despite everybody else on Facebook apparently doing so. We might start doing some learning activities next week. We have been working together on a little crafting project, in fits and starts as the mood takes us, making plushie animals out of felt, which they have really enjoyed. I keep meaning to write some fic or make some art, but again have found myself struggling to get into the mindset for it.

What I’ve mostly been doing is playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I downloaded it for myself as a Mother’s Day present and I am *ahem* mildly addicted. The Switch tells me that I’ve played 120 hours in 10 days!! :lol:

Hi Sarah. Any WangXian and AYuan in the pipeline? I’m going through withdrawals! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

“Er-dianxia, junwang, there is a boy outside the manor,” a servant says, interrupting their dinner. She offers a familiar jade hair stick in her hands to Lan Wangji. “This was on the boy. He said the pretty gege told him to come to Hanguang-fu with it.”

“Ah!” Wei Wuxian says from beside Lan Wangji, surprised. “That’s mine! I gave it to a little boy on the streets yesterday, and told him to come to me if he needed help.” 

That Wei Wuxian would go around offering his help to commoners is not surprising in itself, but he has a habit of hoarding the gifts that Lan Wangji gets for him. The hair stick in question is one half of a matching pair that Lan Wangji commissioned specially for them, and Lan Wangji is surprised that Wei Wuxian would be willing to part with it.

Wei Wuxian must be able to read something from his face, because Wei Wuxian grins sheepishly at him, and says, “I would have given him some coin, but a kid lifted my pouch off me, and I was so impressed by his skills, I let him keep the money.” 

“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji says, letting out an exasperated huff.

“He was a smart child!” Wei Wuxian tells him. “And he fought well! I sent him to report to Jiang-fu for some martial arts training. He’ll do well in the army.”  

Lan Wangji shakes his head. No doubt Jiang Wanyin has yet to hear of this, or he would be making his way to Hanguang-fu to kick up a fuss over this.

But that is a problem to deal with another day. For now, Lan Wangji turns back to the servant still awaiting directions, and says, “Show the boy in.”

The servant comes back with the child who looks maybe all of four years old a few moments later. The boy takes one look at Wei Wuxian, and says, “Pretty gege!” 

“Watch your manners,” the servant chides gently, while Wei Wuxian laughs, clearly delighted. “You are in the presence of er-dianxia and the Yiling-junwang. You should address them appropriately.”

The boy turns back to the servant, and blinks at her, clearly confused. 

“It’s fine. He’s but a child,” Lan Wangji tells the servant. “Have a spare bowl and chopsticks brought in. I suspect our junwang will keep our little guest for dinner.”

At that, the boy turns to look at Lan Wangji. “Dinner?” he asks hopefully. He takes a few quick steps towards Lan Wangji. “Gege, A-Yuan can have some dinner? Really?” 

“Aiyo, A-Yuan,” Wei Wuxian says, pouting. “I thought I was your favourite pretty gege! All it takes is an offer of dinner for you to find a new favourite?” 

A-Yuan looks at Wei Wuxian consideringly, and then back at Lan Wangji. “This gege is prettier,” he declares. 

Wei Wuxian laughs. “A-Yuan ah, A-Yuan. I can already tell you’ll grow up to be a man of fine tastes!” he teases. “I agree with you. I find this gege to be prettier, too. This gege is the prettiest gege in all of Gusu!” 

“Mn!” A-Yuan agrees happily. 

“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji murmurs.

Wei Wuxian drapes himself across Lan Wangji’s back. “Shh,” he whispers, and drops a kiss to the tip of Lan Wangji’s ear, “I’m only speaking the truth.” 

“A-Yuan,” Lan Wangji says, instead of replying to Wei Wuxian, “why have you come here?”

At Lan Wangji’s question, A-Yuan sombres up, and sinks to his knees. “Gege, my popo is sick,” he says quietly, and will not budge when Lan Wangji tries to help him up. “She always wakes up to make dinner for A-Yuan, but today… I tried to wake her up, but popo won’t even reply!” His lips quiver, and his eyes well up slowly with tears. “Gege, will you help popo? A-Yuan won’t ask for dinner! A-Yuan just wants gege to help popo!” 

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian exchange a look. 

“A-Yuan,” Wei Wuxian says gently, “where is your house? We’ll send someone to your house to check on popo.”

Lan Wangji nods. “In the meantime, A-Yuan should have some dinner,” he says. “We have plenty to share.”

Wei Wuxian has just managed to distract A-Yuan with some sweet potato ginger soup when the guards and the physician Lan Wangji had sent earlier return. Lan Wangji signals to Wei Wuxian to keep the child occupied, and leaves the room to receive the news. 

“Er-dianxia,” the old physician says, bowing, “there was not much I could do for the old lady. She barely had breath in her when I was there.”

Lan Wangji’s heart sinks. “Is she still…”

The physician shakes his head. “I’m sorry, er-dianxia. There was little I could do to stop it from happening.”

Lan Wangji nods. 

When he returns to the dining room, Wei Wuxian takes a look at him, and swallows. 

“A-Yuan ah,” Wei Wuxian murmurs, “look at you. You’ve been playing on the streets all day haven’t you? Look at this dirt on you! Would you like to take a hot bath?”

A-Yuan’s mouth drops, surprised. “Hot bath?” he asks. “With hot water?” 

“Mn,” Lan Wangji agrees. “Scented water, if you would like.” When A-Yuan’s face scrunches up in confusion, Lan Wangji explains, “The water will smell like flowers.”

“What flowers?” A-Yuan asks, excited. 

“Any flower you want,” Wei Wuxian promises him. “Would you like that, A-Yuan?” 

A-Yuan nods eagerly, and they send for a servant to bring A-Yuan to have a bath in the guest room. 

“Ah, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian says, stepping into Lan Wangji’s arms, once A-Yuan has left the room. He rubs his cheek against Lan Wangji’s shoulder. “How are we supposed to break the news to him? He’ll be devastated.” 

“Gently,” Lan Wangji says, wrapping his arms around Wei Wuxian. “He will want to know.”

Wei Wuxian nods. “Funeral?” he asks.

“I’ve sent someone to take care of it,” he tells Wei Wuxian. 

“Ah, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian sighs, “you’re too good.”

“I’ve also sent some men to look into whether A-Yuan has any other relatives.”

Wei Wuxian stiffens. “Oh,” he murmurs. 

Lan Wangji kisses his brow. “We can’t just keep him without making arrangements, if he has other family who would want to take care of him,” he says quietly. “His parents could still be around. Perhaps they are just working elsewhere.” 

“I know, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian says. 

“But if he doesn’t have any family who would want him, and if A-Yuan himself wants to,” Lan Wangji says, “I wouldn’t mind, if you wanted us to adopt him. You seem to like him.”

Wei Wuxian peers up at him. “The elders will have a fit,” he whispers. 

“Since when have we cared about what the elders think of us?” Lan Wangji asks. 

Wei Wuxian smiles at that.
