Location art I did for the Black Market Brawl 2 OCT! The Arbor serves as a living cathedral to the sacred tree of the Arborist's worship. While it remains mournfully blighted with a hunger for the slain; in exchange for their sacrifice-made-supplication, it blesses them with divine fruit of flesh and blood. Curl at its roots and let it drink of your decay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was a lot of fun to work on! But really taught me that I need to do some studies and actually develop a coherent workflow for working on environments. Regardless, 10/10 I would gladly draw a flesh eating tree again. Sorry for not getting to this sooner! I had a long and busy week and I needed some time to scroll through my follower list and pick out the cool peeps to tag in this (because I don't want to go barging into everyone's DMs/askbox). Also hi! I recognize your username! Loved the little thing you wrote for Good Omens! :))

Anyway! To start! 5 things I like about myself:

I'm self-aware (weird flex but ok). Seriously though, I at least try to be aware of all my bad habits/quirks so I can try to work on them (or at least, keep them to a minimum). I fail at it sometimes, but that's alright.

I'm enthusiastic about everything I love, and don't let age stop me. I will ramble on about my OTPs fight me.

I enjoy my art, all of it, even if its not the best. Don't get me wrong, I'm frustrated with it a lot.

I try to enjoy/engage with everything, even if it isn't my genre or hobby. I think people should be allowed to enthusiastically ramble on about the things they love, even if they don't interest me personally.

I'm a realistic optimist. That is, I always consider the worst things that could happen, and plan for the worst, but always hope that things will turn out for the best regardless. Its important to stay grounded in reality, but that doesn't mean we can't wish for the otherwise. That's just how I feel, anyway!

Ok! Now onto the hard part, the tagging of people. I could do this in DMs or send them an ask, but I think this works just as well. I can also just make you go and check out their pages this way ;)

@lickthecowhappy - one of the first people I followed and generally interacted with after returning to Tumblr. A real cool person, always liking and reblogging real niche Good Omens stuff. They also write good poetry!

concept. you get pregnant, then convince me, another trans guy, to get pregnant too. then you bully me about it.

hmm... i'm imagining i convince you to get pregnant not long before i go into labor... maybe when im five months, and already huge because i'm having quints? i give birth at about 30 weeks, and 2 weeks later we find out you're 6 weeks pregnant. by the time you're 10 weeks, i'm pregnant again. but i'm showing before you are, so i make fun of you for that. turns out i'm having sextuplets this time, and you're having a singleton that turns out to be huge, though you're never quite as big as i am. you make it to 42 weeks, and i make it to 32 weeks, so we give birth at just about the same time.

but for your entire pregnancy, i make sure you're eating foods that will make your baby the most active. when we're in public i'll very discreetly shine my phone flashlight on your belly, or i'll draw attention to it by probing it with my fingers to get your baby to move around — the latter making you nervous helps too. and, maybe your baby already would have been an active one, but either way, ultimately my efforts pay off, and you end up with a belly that is moving almost constantly, the movement visible regardless of whether you're wearing a shirt that covers your whole belly or not.

and of course, more and more you go out wearing clothing that doesn't really fit. it's honestly shocking how much bigger it makes you look, when i'm standing there next to you in clothing that DOES fit. even with my belly always being bigger than yours, if you're wearing a shirt that doesn't fit, you always look nearly as big as i am at least. buttondowns that are barely holding together do a lot to emphasize your size, especially if some of the buttons accidentally pop off. the best that i found was when we went to the mall together in cute matching patterned buttondowns in our second trimester, mine fitting very well, despite my belly already looking like i was overdue with triplets at only 17 weeks, and yours fitting so poorly over your 26 week belly that of the buttons that we even managed to do, all but two burst open within about 45 minutes. the one remaining, of course, was the one between your belly and bust and the second one down starting at the collar, between which yawned your tender, engorged tits, which were basically one poorly timed step from spilling out the entire time. (you don't own any maternity bras, of course.)

also, as my body is more accustomed to pregnancy, you start waddling before i do, which i can't get enough of. i'll often use my larger belly as an excuse to have you bring me stuff, just to see your newly-massive ass wobbling over to it and your heavy steps as you slowly turn around. i also don't stop lactating between the last pregnancy and this one, and because i'm careful not to leak in public, i always have a breast pump in my bag... but when you start needing to pump (which i make sure is as early as possible) i say that i havent sterilized it, so it would be unsafe for you to use it. you waddle around with constantly engorged, leaky tits, leaving wet spots on all of your shirts.

don't worry, i'll make sure to talk just a little too loudly about how you're only having one when people ask how many you're having. i'll make sure to tell them you're two weeks overdue with a huge 15 pound baby, too. and don't worry about trying to hide it either, they'll be able to tell you're pregnant nice and early, since i'm make sure your baby is active all the time. and after that... you won't be empty for long, either 😈

Guess what I did last night, everyone? I performed stand-up in a club for the first time! I’d done five nights at pub open mics, which I can quickly summarize as:

- July 26: Go to a pub night with my brother, who’s been performing comedy for years. They have about eight scheduled comedians, plus a “lotto spot”, where literally anyone can put their name in a pitcher and they draw one out and that person can perform. The lotto is mostly used by comedians who aren’t on the bill, but turn up to watch, and throw their name in on the off chance that they’ll get stage time. It’s also sometimes used by new comedians who haven’t established themselves enough to get booked spots when they ask for them, but they can build up some cred by doing lotto spots. It is not generally used by random members of the audience, but it technically could be.

I wasn’t quite a completely random member of the audience. I’d been going to open mic comedy nights at a different pub, which ran every Thursday, for a few months. Just going to watch, but often enough so I had an idea of how they work and who performs at these things. And my brother’s been doing it for thirteen years, early in his career I used to go see him all the time. And I had written some stuff down, practiced saying it out loud a few times, thought maybe I’d try performing someday. But had no concrete plans to start at any specific time.

Then I went with my brother to a night at a different pub from the one where I normally went, he convinced me to put my name in the lotto, just to try, it probably won’t get picked. Obviously it did get picked. I think there were about ten names in that pitcher, I’m still not 100% convinced my name really did get picked, I think my brother might have told the comedians that this is his sister’s name, if they want to see his sister try comedy then just call that name out regardless of what paper is drawn. But I have no proof.

Anyway, I did it. I talked for about six minutes. I said the things I had written down and tried out in my bedroom. It was less terrifying than I’d expected. The crowd laughed quite a bit, but only because I’d said at the beginning that I have never done this before and didn’t expect my name to get picked so they were all being nice. But it was fun. It was a huge adrenaline rush. Afterward I got drunk with comedians.

- That was a Monday. Three days later, I go out to the regular pub open mic night that I’d been going to for ages on Thursdays. Turns out the guy who runs that night was at the other pub on Monday and saw me there. After the comedy show ends, he goes up to me at the bar and asks if I want to be on the bill in two weeks time. I say yes. Get very excited for my first time on an actual bill, not just going up with the lotto.

- August 10: I perform at the Thursday night. I’m incredibly nervous. I have spent two weeks refining my material, figuring I can do a better job if I actually properly write a set for a specific day, rather than just get up unexpectedly and say some stuff I’d only vaguely planned. It’s definitely better this way. It goes quite well.

- Some other day in late August: I go back to the Thursday comedy place just to watch. I put my name in the lotto, thinking there’s no way it’ll get called again, may as well just do that, but I’m just here to watch. My brother is hosting. He’s just had a breakup and is messing around with the crowd so much that it distracted me from doing any mental preparation. My name gets called from the lotto. I go up unexpectedly. I can’t remember most of what I was going to say. I panic and stutter a lot. It’s fucking horrible. I get off stage and want to hide under my bed forever. After, my brother tells me it wasn’t quite as bad as I thought. But still. Not great. I have just moved to the suburbs to housesit for a few months, making it hard to get downtown where the comedy venues are anyway, so I don’t go back for a while.

- Early October: I go back to the Thursday pub night, just to watch. It’s an exciting night and inspires me to try again. I go through the proper process this time, of going on their Facebook page to request a spot for the following Thursday. I get one.

- October 12: On this Thursday, I show up and try something slightly different. The previous nights, I had just told one story for six minutes. This time, I trim that story and add a separate bit at the beginning. I am, again, very nervous, with the fear that maybe I just happened to have only one funny story in me but can’t actually write good stuff generally so the other bit will fail.

It doesn’t. Both bits go great. This feels like my best one yet. I leave happy and excited and wanting to do it again. I go back on Facebook and request a spot at the other pub that runs on Monday nights for the next week. I get it.

I also email one a local comedy club. There are three comedy clubs in the city, and those are where the “proper comedy” happens. New and established comedians alike work out their material at pub nights like the Monday and Thursday ones, so that they can perform at clubs. At the club amateur nights, where no one gets paid but if you do enough of them then you’ll get noticed by the owners and maybe get to go on the pro nights, where people do get paid. Multiple people had told me I should sign up for a club amateur night, but I’d been too nervous until that point. Then, however, I send an email to the designated address requesting a spot in November (that’s how it works – you email the club on the fifteen of one month to see if they’ll give you a spot at any of the amateur Mondays the following month).

- October 23: I perform at the Monday night pub. Do the same two bits as before. They go okay. At this time I remember them, I’m not up there panicking and stuttering. They just don’t get as much from the crowd, and the more they go badly, the more I doubt myself and then don’t perform as well. Afterward, my brother tells me my stuff was good, and not to feel bad because the crowd didn’t laugh much at anyone who was on that night.

I am sufficiently demoralized to think maybe I won’t go back for a bit, at least not until December when I go back to living at my own place downtown and it’s easier to get to these places. However, this plan falls apart in November, when I receive an email telling me my request for a club spot has been granted, I can perform at the club’s amateur night on Monday, November 13. I am terrified.

- For about four days before the night of November 13, particularly all day at work on November 13: I am fucking terrified. Going to a club to perform material that didn’t go well last time.

- November 13: I arrive at the comedy club. See the sign that reminds me the audience has paid $10 to get in. None of the pub nights cost money for the audience. So this will be my first time performing to people who have paid money so if I’m terrible then I am personally wasting their money as well as their time. There is an actual stage (a very low one, but still). They turn out the lights and put a spotlight on the performer. They play entrance music and everything. It is much more intimidating than a pub night.

I’m on third. The host is a comedian I very much like, doing stuff that I think is funny, but the audience isn’t laughing. The first guy up is an established pro comedian whom I also like (and used to run a school wrestling team with him in 2015, actually, but that’s another story), he also doesn’t do great. I talk to my brother, who’s on later in the bill than I am. He warns me that this crowd seems quiet in general, so I shouldn’t feel bad if they don’t laugh much at me either, I should be mentally prepared for that. I pace around the back being very nervous.

- November 13: Guys it went so fucking well! I did my two bits, I remembered everything, I think I said it in all the right order and did it right. And it worked! They laughed! Afterward multiple came and told me I did well! I was not mentally prepared for how you can’t see the audience if you’re in a spotlight and they’re in the dark, that threw me off, also the light hurt my eyes a bit, but once I was used to it I realized that not seeing the audience is slightly easier. It was good! It was so good and I’m so happy.

I have to say thank you, again, to my Tumblr friends @my-excellent-bicycle, who listened to the stuff I'd recorded alone in bedroom early in the year and told me what was good in it, because the bit he said was good is what became the first bit I performed. The second bit I ran by @lastweeksshirttonight, who was also super kind and supportive and helpful with advice. And, you know, I never would have tried without having comedy Tumblr in general. I am still a bit high on the adrenaline of how exciting that was.

...I feel like I should clarify, again, that all I actually did was sign up for an amateur night and do six minutes. It was the bar area in the basement, not even the proper club room, which is upstairs. It was not particularly objectively impressive. But subjectively, I'm really fucking excited about it.

I tried combining the concept of the Ring being able to find anything with the idea of spirits being unable to move on, because they lost something important when they were alive.

Fun fact - This hatching-esque style is honestly really relaxing to do once you get the rythym down, which is probably why this was so high-effort lkajsd. It looks cool without you needing to do much, even w/o the effects. I suggest trying it if you have the time.

It's a toss-up between Carlando and Dando. Sometimes I need it to hurt a little, and Carlando is so precious and endgame to me that I can't bear the thought of Carlos hurting Lando, even for a few chapters. So I think it's gonna be Dando? Hey man, I'm using a throwaway because I've found a lot of the ofmd fandom really hostile lately and don't want anyone in my main's dms. I'm really not trying to like, be a coward or anything.

I really like your blog and you seem like a cool person, but I was honestly kind of disheartened when I noticed you dismissing the death threats and other awful messages a lot of people (particularly Izzy enjoyers, yes, but I know they're not the only ones) receive.

I understand that that kind of hostility existing might go against your view of this fandom and the world in general, or that maybe you even think these people deserve the things they're told, but I REALLY doubt the multiple people I've seen speak out about this issue are all lying about it or making things up. It just seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to assume that, when the simpler explanation would just be that at least most of them are real.

Hell, I have a screencap of a mutual of mine receiving their first anon hate telling them to kill themselves for liking Izzy, but since that person was cowardly enough to go on anon I guess to you that's fake too? Like, is it really so hard to accept that this stuff is happening? Or do you really think so lowly of people who like a fictional character that you think they're all liars and master manipulators making shit up for fun?

Even if you ignore the death threats, there's someone on multiple sites right now commenting really awful stuff on people's Izzy art, many of said artists being minors. This I do have proof of. Like I've seen this person tell a black gay man he was a racist and a fujoshi for liking Izzy and drawing art of him?? Seeing this kind of behavior, I have a hard time believing death threats or suicide baiting would be out of the question.

It just really hurts seeing you dismiss experiences like that. I'm probably coming off as unhinged writing all this to a single person, I guess I just think you seem cool and reasonable so this took me off guard. I'd like to apologise in advance if anything I said was upsetting, I'd just like to hear where you're coming from with this.

Just to get this out of the way, I fully doubt the veracity of this statement because you're a throwaway account. I haven't been on tumblr for 10+ years to be rocked by someone rolling up to me with a terrible sounding story without anyway to verify it. I'm just meant to trust you, an anonymous stranger, that all these horrible things are happening.

Now, do I think there are tons of hateful messages being sent out and about to various fans of various characters? Absolutely. Of course it is. My anons are closed because of the hateful messages I received, which racketed up to being told various ways I should be killed or that I should kill myself once I told the anon that I would not be sharing their messages. Of course that's happening to many other people.

What I personally doubt is that some of the people claiming to receive hate, are actually receiving hate. And frankly, when its anonymous, I have to maintain skepticism because 1) anyone can send themselve anons and 2) anyone can stop anonymous harassment by turning off anon. I'm an example of that. When someone is receiving tons of hateful anon asks and refuses to just turn off anon, I'm naturally skeptical.

But going back to what I said about doubting people - I am again confident that many people have received hateful messages. However, when I see, for example, a person with a total of less than ten posts, less than five of which are about OFMD, talking about the barrage of hateful anons they've received for liking Izzy, I'm doubtful. When I see artists talking about the hate they've received for their art, and then I look at their art and they've been whitewashing, I'm doubtful. When I see fanfic authors lamenting the hate that they've received, and I check the comments being made and they're about how the content of a chapter or story is racist, I'm doubtful.

Ultimately, do I believe this fanom has hateful anons? Yes. Do I think many people are making it up because they believe it strengthens their position? Yes. Do I think *anyone* who claims they and the people around them are uniquely bullied for liking a particular character is being obtuse? Yes. Some fans of Izzy are undoubtedly getting unwarranted and cruel comments. So are Stede and Ed fans, so are fans of the whole show, so are people who post about hating the show. Not to be flippant, but it's the internet. I'm not going to just believe someone because they said something on the internet, but while I have sympathy for people experiencing the distinctly shit feeling of "my inbox is full of hateful comments", I'm also not going to pretend I don't raise my brows when some of the people I see pushing that idea the most are people I see making racist ass commentary.

In short: I am a cool person, I'm glad you like my posts, because I do not know who you are and cannot investigate your claims I do not trust your account. I'm simply too cynical to not raise a brow when people start voicing that they're the most hated people within a fandom just because they like a character.

Getting hate sucks. Sending hate is shitty. Unfortunately, it's part and parcel of the experience of being active on the internet.

I apologize for my inactivity, I rarely write and I can only do so much, lots of requests have bene piling up and I’ll still keep it at my own pace. I apologize once again.

I don’t really know what prompt exactly what to give you but for now here are headcanons for a female reader who likes to paint!

TW: Suicidal tendencies

Ohse rarely goes out but let’s say he did just to get some fresh air (or because Terra just urged him to because he looks like he’s about to die after not getting that vitamin D of the sun lol). Unluckily, he was with Amahiko that day. He met you when you were sketching somewhere at a park, he was too afraid to come closer to you to take a peek at what you’re drawing but of course Amahiko notices him staring at you for too long and just nudges him to have a go.

You guys start talking about what you like to visualize before applying it into places. You could sometimes get confused and grim on what Ohse brings to the table; usually out of pocket remarks of his which made him think that he’d k!ll himself for saying horrid stuff to you, but you don’t faze. You just find it.. interesting.

It wasn’t long until both of you began meeting at the same spot, but this time Ohse slowly starts to get comfortable with you as he tries to join in on the small sketching session. He tends to sing tunes with a horrible background story in the lyrics, which disturbed you quite a bit but you didn’t mind regardless.

You know Amahiko got that ECSTASYYYYY radar going on so he probably knows about Ohse’s interest in you, and almost everyone in the shared house (but Fumiya, he probably knows but just doesn’t speak until he’s asked to) that Ohse has been acting a little… different. Rikai actually gets a little creeped out that Ohse does not only go out of his room, but out of the actual house to actually see you.

The confession from Ohse would be accidental, jumbling his words and putting a plastic bag over his head and just telling him to literally off himself, you oblige and return his feelings with a grin. The whole debacle of Ohse apologizing and announcing that he’ll k!ll himself went on for the next 10 minutes until you both just agreed to meet each other again tomorrow and went home. Ohse doesn’t know how to tell this whole scenario to the boys when he gets home.

At some point you had probably proposed to Ohse about doing each other’s portraits for fun. Of course Ohse shyly agrees, though he wouldn’t let you see his; it takes a lot of convincing.

Maybe one day, you ask Ohse about what his inspirations for his paintings are and you try to think of something similar to that yourself.

Ohse is the main reason why he doesn’t stay holed up in his room. The house is thankful for your service (lmao)

Ohse may not show it, but Ohse’s heart is so full to have someone like you. From that point on, you became his sole inspiration for everything he does. Of course the habit of suicidal tendencies don’t go away, but it guilts him a little when he thinks of you.

heishin for the ship bingo!

Them!! 😭

They are EVERYTHING to me: Okay, so, I've been familiar with Detective Conan for about a decade, yeah? Ten years ago is around the time that I first started watching the anime, and let me tell you: I don't remember caring for Heishin—or even Heiji!—like, at all back then. (The Reveal (Episodes 57-58) was fun, but I wouldn't say my feelings really went much deeper than that.)

But I've been rewatching, and getting way further than I ever got the first time around, and my fictional taste buds must have changed because these two have now absolutely destroyed me. I wrote my very first DCMK meta about them, and, well, I put this together for another post also about them that I've been working on, the intention being to highlight all the Heiji-Shinichi relationship analyses on my Ramblings page in order emphasize my utter infatuation with this duo, and... yeah.

Of all the Detective Conan essays listed here, 17/43 of them concern Heiji and Shinichi to some extent... and since I only update this page periodically, this list doesn't even include my last Heishin post, which would make the count 18/44.

So, nearly 41% of my writing about this series involves discussion on them... and one of these characters is only included in maybe 10% of the story.

They really, truly are so much to me.

They drive me crazy/insane /pos: Clearly! "Miss Mystery," Opening 33, has me screaming, crying, and throwing up with its depiction of their relationship...

And I flipped through the manga version of Episode 174 for the first time recently (Files 225-230), and the way that Conan imagines Heiji's smiling face when he fears that the worst happened to his friend utterly destroyed me (File 228)...

And one of my GIFs (from Episode 277) got passed around some more a bit ago, and I was once again reminded of how gently Heiji places Conan on the ground, how careful he is regardless of the minimal distance, and I once again felt like the pleading face emoji...

And have I mentioned "Conan's Dream Vacation" enough yet?

I could go on and on and on. (And considering that I've, uh, written a whole Heishin masterpost, I guess I kind of already have.)

Relationship goals <3: They've got problems, absolutely, but the way they just... sync? The way they Vibe? #Goals for sure.

They get each other. Immensely. They finish each other's sentences, come to the same conclusions at once—they both serve as a reminder to the other that they're not alone.

It's easy to meme on this panel of Shinichi in the manga (File 520), but it is beyond sweet to me that he's so eager and excited at the notion of someone just like him.

Heiji and Shinichi are genuinely a place of comfort for each other, and that is the definition of "relationship goals."

I need a 30k hurt/comfort fic on my desk by Monday: Detective Conan seems all but entirely disinterested in depicting its heroic men as vulnerable. Heck, if the "Murderer Shinichi Kudo" case (Episodes 521-523) is any indication, there's the message that a person like Shinichi would never do something like cry. He's too "strong" to.

Needless to say, the sentiment leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Relying on others and crying aren't "weak" things but human things, and one of the biggest draws of Heishin—for me, anyway!—is that Heiji and Shinichi do allow themselves to be vulnerable with each other. Shinichi admits to some of the trauma he's suffered in as soon as his third encounter with Heiji (Episodes 77-78); later, he completely opens up about the pain of hiding his identity from Ran, and he even asks Heiji for advice (Episode 189). Heiji, similarly, isn't too afraid to reveal that he cares deeply for Shinichi to Shinichi's face. He easily conveys how haunted he was by a nightmare in which Shinichi dies, with minimal prompting, in Episode 118. In Episode 479, he also lays his insecurity bare in Shinichi's presence and asks if all the criticism and mockery he's received is warranted.

Canon gives us these crumbs. Fanon can take it so much further. Shinichi spilling out details of how scared he is to Heiji, trying desperately not to freak out or cry, all while Heiji tells him that he can cry when he feels like it, just as Shinichi told Ran when they were in preschool (Episode 854). Heiji actually working through his unhealthy tendency to make everything a competition with Shinichi's help and support.

I think the focus of my last Heishin post, about how the nasty attitude Conan gives Heiji on occasion stems from his resentment that he can't be Shinichi when they're together, also lends itself well to hurt/comfort fic. What if Heiji calls out Conan's cold behavior, and he doesn't act like it's a joke or a minor nuisance for once but really communicates that it hurts to be treated like that, and Shinichi reveals the truth? Or what if Shinichi has a moment of self-reflection and regrets his cruelty when Heiji winds up seriously injured or dead on his behalf?

If you throw in potential romantic feelings, other possibilities open up. It kills Shinichi that he can't hold Ran in his arms (FUNimation's English dub for Episode 42), that he can't tell her he loves her with his own voice (Episode 3), but he doesn't think Ran's aware of his predicament. With Ran, Conan can put on an act and lie and pretend like none of his romantic feelings for her exist, and maybe that provides relief.

But Heiji is well aware of Shinichi's predicament. There's no playing a completely separate, unrelated child with Heiji; Heiji's already broken the illusion, and there's no going back to it. When Shinichi's by Heiji's side, he's by someone whom he can be himself around, whom he can't be anything but himself around, and that's got to make the impossibility of a romantic relationship a pain that festers like an open sore. There's no putting a Band-Aid on this one. No separating himself from the situation. No covering up the sting with an invented personality.

Okay, maybe that's more hurt no comfort, but there is so much potential here, I swear! Heiji isn't just the goofy, silly comic relief guy with the Osaka accent, and his relationship with Shinichi deserves more serious exploration and treatment. I think there's especially a lot that could be done with Heiji's jealousy, and—in my eyes, anyway—it stinks that canon plays Heiji's obsession with one-upping Shinichi's confession to Ran as a joke rather than the sad, insecure thing that it comes off to me as.

They're going to be the death of me: I bought a movie guidebook for The Crimson Love Letter, the 21st Conan film, which I haven't even seen yet, purely because I liked the cover art (and included poster) showing Conan and Heiji being unabashedly happy together...

And I am so tempted to get this Heishin mug set...

And I'm looking to add some Treasured Selection Blu-rays to my largely DVD-comprised DetCo collection, and while I don't believe the Treasured Selection Blu-rays for traditionally animated episodes really increase the quality that much, I'm still thinking I'll get #5 because it has The Boys on the cover (and also includes one of my favorite cases, Episodes 277-278)...

And there's also that merch from Carddass...

If nothing else, these two might be the death of my wallet!

(It's maybe also worth noting that I mostly store my DVDs for this series in 6-DVD cases, so only a select few covers are actually displayed. I purposely ordered things in a way to display the majority of the Heiji-and-Conan covers—5 out of the 7 that I own. I'm love them.)

They,,, kimss,, holde handss,,,,: I used to be like, "I don't really ship them; I just like their relationship!" And got, "Sure, Jan" in response.

But heck with it—while it's never, ever my intention to undervalue platonic bonds, I do like romance, and I'm tired of being ashamed of it! Shinichi and Heiji should open up their own detective agency and also kiss and hold hands, yes.

umm... every work that got feedback was more than i expected! especially for the rarepairs (which is most of what i write). the plant couple community was amazing! so to answer this question i'm gonna name Not Just Any Plant which is my first plant couple fic i wrote and which was so lovely received by the small community, but also Finally (also plant couple) and What Happens on the Mainland... Taking a Look at Bedivere's Outfits

Why not, I want to do something silly and fun :b

Long post so I'll put it all under the cut.

Gotta start with his default outfit, of course! 100/10, I do so love his overall look. The silver and green color scheme is just so pleasant to look at, and it really fits his personality, somehow.

One little detail I appreciate now after watching the Camelot movie adaptations is that Bedi's sword is actually positioned so that his left hand draws it - makes sense, his left hand is his actual flesh and bone arm! It's a shame that in the game he holds his sword in his right hand regardless, but in the movies they show Bedivere often holds his sword in his left hand.

Butler outfit! He looks so sharp and dapper in this one, 100/10 would keep him as my butler forever. I also appreciate that in this outfit, Bedi's default expression is to smile. He deserves to look happy! Also the character art details his eyelashes and that's a neat detail, not a lot of other illustrations give Bedivere eyelashes the same color as his hair. The teapot he's holding is different from what's actually used in the battle sprite though, he uses a silver one.

I do enjoy drawing this outfit since it's a bit simpler than his armor to draw, heh. Also it's good practice to think about how to draw suits.

The "I'm forever salty if they don't ever release this outfit" summer hoodie. I know since Bedi got his butler costume he probably won't get another one...but I can dream. Or just give us a summer version! Let Bedi have his fun, Gareth apparently has a summer version, why not Bedi... Ahem. Anyway, ranting over, I really do love this outfit! I know the summer KotR is shameless fanservice lol but at least Bedivere's is a really cool look. I wish I had this hoodie in real life, the colors are so cute. I won't be able to pull it off shirtless though lol.

Specific neat details - the sectioning of the colors on his hoodie and the x-shaped threads on the shorts are reminiscent of his armor. For a mischievous AI that's a bit out of wack, BB has pretty good taste when she gave this outfit to Bedi.

And idk why, but I find it cute that Bedi wears sandals. And let's not forget, we have shades Bedivere because of this, too.

Also I remember joking with friends that Bedivere Alter uses guns and then the Summer Fest rerun happened and I remembered Bedivere does practice on the shooting range with you...so Gun-ivere is actually a possibility lol.

Now for some CEs! This is Festive Outfit Bedivere for one of the anniversaries. 100/10, so cute!!! This is one of my favorites actually, and I'm biased as blue is my favorite color, but the blues and oranges are so cute and pop in a good way. Also that cap is just adorable. Everything about this outfit is so cute. Love it to bits!

One of the Camelot movie release celebrations CEs! Back to being dapper again. He looks rather scholarly, with these glasses.

90/10, it's a good look and a bit different with the hat and glasses! But man Bedi sure loves his suits and coats doesn't he, haha. Altria's outfit is also really good in this one, it might be my actual favorite outfit of hers.

I think this one is the 5th Anniversary celebration, the one that's titled like Under the Same Sky? Look, any CE with Bedivere smiling and enjoying his life gets a 100/10 from me. His smile here is especially precious!

The outfit itself looks so cozy. Same as the festive outfit one, his outfit here has little touches of orange, which I really like.

Oh hey....I just realized that in this one, Bedi doesn't have a metal arm. Did Ritsuka and co. do that to separate their manga Bedi from Chaldea Bedi?

The formal craft wear! I wasn't playing F/GO when this released so I'll never have it in game :'''''). But I spotted it in the 5th anniversary video! I posted about it before, but I just find it funny that in this video they made Bedi's hair super long, it reaches past his hip when normally his hair falls to around the middle of his back.

This one is pretty fancy, and looks a bit busy with the cape and tassels. It's a good look, don't get me wrong, but I don't like this as much as his other fancy outfits. Idk, it doesn't feel as cohesive to me, I guess? Lancelot wears a similar outfit but I think his looks more suited to him. Though I do like that the sleeve is cut out on Airgetlam's side, I think it's more practical to not have any cover on it.

This one is from one of the promotional images for the Solomon movie! I do like this one a lot, I just really like the colors of it (enough for me to draw it as a chibi). Seems even Bedi got tired of wearing a coat though lol, he's just holding it here.

Here's from one of the Chaldea Boys' Collection CEs! Though we don't really see much of his outfit here, so it's a bit hard to comment on. The cap looks a bit silly though, it's just awkwardly sitting on his head.

This one is from the earlier Chaldea Boys' Collection, which I also didn't get since I wasn't playing the game at the time. I am tempted to get it on the Rare Prisms exchange though...

I do actually like the colors of this one, and it's a bit similar to the butler costume he ended up getting, though this one is in white.

While I do want to get it since Bedi is in the CE and all, is it just me or something is a bit off with Bedi's faces in both of these Chaldea Boys's Collection CEs? Idk why, but the way Bedi's face looks in these comes off a bit...creepy. I hate to say it that way since it makes me sound like I'm picking on the illustrators - I'm not, these are beautifully detailed, the way Bedivere looks is just not up to my preference.

There's a bunch more I didn't get to, a couple of CEs and some more promotional and product images released during the Camelot movie (like the Wendy's one, that still floors me to think about, knowing art exists of the Camelot cast in Wendy's uniforms lol). A lot of it involves him in suits though, so I'm gonna be repeating a lot of points if I collect more of them.

My top favorites aside from his default look are the festive outfit one, the Solomon promo image and the summer outfit (I'm still begging the devs to release a playable version). Special shout out to a super cute acrylic I saw though, the Cafe and Diner one which was also released as Camelot movie merch? That is also super cute.

1 (the character everyone gets wrong) - well, as someone who doesn't interact with the fandom except for what i see on tumblr and doesn't read fl fanfiction or anything, i'd have no idea lmao, some of the stuff i've heard makes me think the answer to this might be mr veils (but not really) or actually potentially mr apples but i'm just not certain

9 (worst part of canon) - this isn't the worst part for me, but here's a fun opportunity to admit something: it's always annoyed me that curators have arms as well as wings. not just because the anatomy is annoying to get right when drawing (two sets of limbs! in the same space! what are your shoulders meant to be doing) but also because i just think any curator interpretation could be improved with hands on their wings. it just looks more balanced when they only have wings and not separate humanoid arms. and yet it seems like in canon the arms and wings are separate. tragic

anyway space bat limbs aside. i'm sure there's actual probably-the-worst things about canon that should actually be changed but i think any concerns have already been talked about with better wording by others? so i don't know what else i could say here

10 (worst part of fanon) - here's another opportunity for me to admit something that isn't precisely answering this question but i wanted to say it anyway: i don't get why people seem to hate the manager's design in motr. like that's less fanon and more fan reactions to canon but regardless. he seems... fairly alright? accurate enough to how he's described? visually makes me think "yeah that's him"? but apparently people hate the design, i haven't seen a single person talk about it in a positive way. i don't get it maybe there's just like. a fan design that the fandom decided was the only accurate one idk that seems to happen a lot with stuff like this where there's suddenly a canon design after so much time being relevant with no canon design

anyway again i must mention that i don't know anything about the fl fandom that doesn't appear on my tumblr dash. maybe there's a really popular bit of fanon elsewhere that everyone agrees on but i've never seen. maybe everyone agrees that [x character] is totally a snuffer or [y character] is actually a star in disguise or whatever and i had no idea.

i mean apparently there's december discourse and people have actual opinions on it but i didn't even know there was december discourse until recently. i mean yeah there's liberation of night discourse i get that but discourse about December specifically? december of the calendar council the twelfth month? we know like 3 facts about them. what would you even discourse over. about whether or not calling them a borzoi is actually even remotely accurate? (and for the record my view on that is that it totally isn't but i call them a borzoi anyway)

so anyway yeah i don't know enough about popular fanon to make any judgements here

16 (you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)) - why is candles so often drawn as specifically albino? i'm not sure if it's canon or not but i haven't heard of anything mentioning him (?) as albino or leucistic in canon. like yeah the colours fit with the themes i guess but i don't think i've ever seen a fan depiction of candles that didn't include pure white/pigmentless fur. obviously disclaimer that it's not necessarily a bad thing it's just like. wow that appears a lot

18 (it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…) - the grand devils. so aesthetic! so dead! so.... bugs! not even necessarily the canon ones, i think it'd be cool to see more grand devil ocs, or just devil ocs that don't follow the usual 'human with weird eyes' physical form (i know i don't really have any of those but. regardless i think it'd be very cool to see more of from others.)

21 (part of canon you think is overhyped) - would the masters of the bazaar be too obvious an answer for this one 💔 i just. think there's plenty of other interesting non-human species in the fl universe. yeah not much else to say for this one. i could also say seeking the name or mr eaten as a character in general for this one. but overall there isn't much overhyped in such a small fandom i think?

22 (your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores) - maybe the grand devils also fit as an answer to this question. i haven't really seen anyone talking much about them anywhere, which is fair given their crimes of being monarchs, but it's kind of surprising. i simply think that sometimes people should consider the dead or sort-of-dead bees.

also, maybe this is obvious from a few of my recent fl posts, but i think the god-eaters could be interesting (although there... isn't much to them in canon compared to the other important figures from past cities), and yet i've never really seen anyone acknowledging them (except for maybe, in some cases, mentioning them when talking about mr eaten)

Asterius was originally platonic but overtime his relationship with Dia started feeling more romantic :~) he's still not quite at the point where I'd call him a romantic f/o but he's inching there. And regardless I love him a lot... I wish I was better at drawing him tho! Hmm not necessarily THIS year but Theseus and Asterius basically reignited my interested in history and mythology and I've been invested in it ever since <3 20. are there any hopes and wishes you have regarding your own selfships and/or the selfship community as a whole for the coming year? There should be more content for bitches like me who prefer their babygirls to be cringefailures who can't do anything right. what are your top 10 favorite cartoons :?

this is such a difficult question i am both phenomenally indecisive and have a phenomenally bad memory so i don't think i can make a concise top ten but i Can randomly list off ten random ones i know i like in no particular order. or more than ten if i get extra indecisive

arcane genuinely is That Good regardless of the fact it's league of legends i don't care. it could do without the extended bureaucracy subplot but other than that everything else is Really Good especially the animation. i also never finished infinity train i only watched the first two seasons but one day i Need to finish it because that also is so so so so goddamn good genuinely

i also never finished rise of the TMNT just because of the "if i don't watch the last episode then it doesn't have to end" thing but while it was ongoing i rewatched the whole thing many many times it has i think, bar none, The Best fight choreography in animation except for maybe the barbershop gunfight in FLCL but rottmnt's animation is consistently so goddamn good that kind of motion is how i want to animate especially because i think(assume) it's combination puppet rigs and handdrawn which is A) a pretty standard animation technique these days and B) extremely good when done well (for example in rottmtn) also rottmnt is how i decided to start drawing square skulls i think it looks nice the art style is really fucking good. rottmnt might be the closest thing i have to a number one now that i think about it

the 2017 ducktales reboot is also very good my favorite character is boyd because he is a very good fun astroboy expy. futurama is also very good but again i never finished it despite how many times i have restarted from the beginning i am just bad at keeping up with shit i have to get VERY autistic about it. kipo was also very fun from what i watched of it but then i lost steam and never finished it

there are so goddamn many shows that i just have not gotten the momentum to watch yet because i need to be in a Very specific mindset to start a new series that i may or may not get attached to like i wish i could list off symbiotic titan too cuz i've been meaning to watch it since forever but i cannot vouch for something i have not seen yet. i have seen 2/3 seasons of transformers animated though which is A) very good and B) is exactly how i want to be able to draw mecha they look so Shaped and Streamlined and you can Tell Them Apart From A Distance it rules i still have the watchcartoononline tab for TFA open in this very firefox window since last july or whenever my ex told me to watch it one day i will finish it. motorcity from the one or two episodes i watched of it is also very good i ADORE the animation i need to finish that one day. there are lots of shows i have only watched the pilot episode of Literally for research purposes

i also really liked clone high + want that art style so bad you have no idea. moongirl and devil dinosaur is the most recent thing i have gotten around to watching and it is Very good and reminds me a lot of mlaatr which is a good thing i recommend watching moongirl it's fun the musical fight sequences are exactly some shit i have always wanted to do. also everyone needs to watch oddtaxi it's a strong contender for my favorite show ever it's SO goddamn well written i NEED to develop the ability to write something as intricately interwoven as oddtaxi my god. like at least give the first four episodes a shot cuz episode four is the marker point when it got so extremely good it skyrocketed to the top of my favorite animated whatever list
