Emerging in the 1990s alongside legendary shoegaze bands such as My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, RIDE distinguished themselves from their contemporaries with a more melodic and jangly sound that emerged on records such as Nowhere (1990) and Going Blank Again (1992).

After a near 20 year hiatus, Ride returned to touring in 2014 and in 2017 released their first new music since their return Weather Diaries and followed it up in 2019 with This Is Not A Safe Place.

They're back with a brand new 2024 studio album "Interplay" - their 3rd since reforming and first in 5 years.

Ride - This Is Not a Safe Place (2019)...Not your typical Ride material but definitely better than Weather Diaries. It’s a hard job to re-create what they’ve done in the past. The best they can do is stay on their own path while embracing the new ideas and creativeness. It usually doesn’t work for most bands who makes a return but these guys have made it work and maybe not to a perfection like Slowdive or MBV did with their return albums. This is still a good album not only for their old fans but for new audiences as well. On My Playlist #12 “Vapour Trail” - Ride (1990) Return to Lake Perris in 2019 would have filled the last piece of the big three. I was positive about it, and submitted a vacation request just to make it happen. But my time was someone else’s as much as mine. I ended up staying in NYC attending smaller gigs in local venues instead. It turned out as great as the return would have been, just leaving what was missing still missing. A month earlier, one of my colleagues asked me what to listen to. The answer was my first ever real shoegaze. A few weeks later, she was at their show in Brooklyn. I wasn’t.
