SessKik Weekend Day 3: Family / Guardians of Children
For the last one I wanted to give them some chill domestic family days + tired babysitter Jaken 🤠, with a cute little kiddo too! He’s a boy and his name is Hayataro, and there was a team effort of the discord members to decide on what he’d look like and his name, and this is more or less what we figured! Personally, I think any child of SessKik would be so darn beautiful they might look kinda androgynous, until they hit puberty and then it’s a bit more clear. But yeah, they’re gonna be ridiculously pretty either way.

If I did the math wrong in any way, I am going to slaughter something. Probably myself.
Sesshomaru/Irene: Sora, Hikaru and Akane, Airi, and Towa and Shion
Inuyasha/Kagome: Itsuki and Moroha
Miroku/Sango have way more kids than what I drew here, but the ones I did draw are: Hisui and Gyokuto.
Sesshomaru is very blue in the manga so I made him blue here. :3
Shion is very much the most no-nonsense of the group, and is the cousin that drives Itsuki the least crazy. Hikaru, on the other hand, is the wildest cousin, and often gets into a bunch of chaos alongside Moroha, so Itsuki frequently gets headaches and has to ask Sora to go save the duo before they get themselves killed. Akane spends most of her time in Kururugi Village, living there as a priestess, but that doesn't stop Moroha from trying to take her out to explore and being protective of her.
Irene being close friends with Sango, their kids naturally grew up alongside one another, so everyone is pretty friendly with Hisui, Gyokuto, Kin'u, and their various unnamed siblings. Hisui has a crush on Sora while Gyokuto is constantly flirting with Hikaru, to the half-demon's embarrassment because he doesn't know how to deal with it.
Towa and Airi basically grow up in modern day Japan. Towa flirts with Hojo/Ayumi's daughter.
I think Towa and Airi are already 14 and 16 in 2018??? Or maybe a year or two younger??? So Irene and Maria would meet them when they go to Japan to try the Bone Eater's Well to get back to the Feudal Era??? But my brain doesn't understand numbers and I've been jumping between numbers so freaking confused.
Are Towa/Shion/Moroha 14 in 2018 or 2020 I don’t knoooow

Any opinions on a soft yandere Sesshomaru? 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[🌸] ay mi ciela 🦅
warnings: yanderishhh— and thoughts
characters: sesshomaru;; some character mentions
haha :b… wHAT—
Tumblr media
- - -
-okwy, okay, okay, okay
-hear me out… 🔥
-I know I said I wasn't going to write anything about yandere or something similira bUT—
-a Sesshomaru soft yandere…
-woman, do you think the same as me???
-like????
-that would be our sesshomaru from the first season!
-*happy noises* okay imagine a demon lord being jealous of the slightest interaction you have with human men because-
-YOU don't deserve to be with those human garbage
-yes, he knows that you are human but you are different, you know?
-You're the only human being he can stand not cutting off their head (and then Rin arrived, so there would be two... no wait; there's Kagome, Kohaku and—)
-well at least he stand others BUT
-don't think that the man who looked at you in a seductive way and wanted to touch you will go unpunished.
-sesshomaru will growl with evil intentions when he sees another demon/human approaching you
-our man is ✨wild✨
-his level of protection towards you will rise to infinity
-his level of love and adoration for you will rise to infinity
-his level of jealous will rise to infinity
-but he won't hurt you!
-of course not!
-how can you think that? You are like a delicate flower that he must protect because he decided to make an exception for you when he decided to be with you
-The touches you will receive from other people other than him to you will be few.
-rin can hug you all day without suffering consequences or an annoying growl from your grumpy man
-Kagome is fine, she can hug you... for a limited time (he's counting time)
-with jaken it's an in-between... the demon goblin can feel your touch if YOU are touching him, which happens if the little demon goblin gets hurt and needs your help. although he prefers that Rin be the one to take care of him
-As for Inuyasha... please no
-just no…
-no :)
-sesshy is going to be the type of yandere who will tell you that he's doing it for your own good while hiding you in a cave or something similar when he's feeling particularly jealous of showing you to the world
-(If it were up to him he hides you underground so that the evil of the world will never touches you... but he discovered from the annoying girl called Kagome that humans need sun. AKA: vitamin c)
-sesshy sad because his plan is not going to work
-In the end, to keep you happy and let you go out more often, he decided to put a nice cloak on you with his scent so that at least others could smell him on you BECAUSE—
-he will not share your smell either, my dearest friend
-(he almost put out the eyes of the monk who accompanies his foolish younger brother when he discovered him looking at you)
-It was worse when Naraku decided to kidnap you... he almost sent the world and human existence to hell—
-Jaken vaguely concerned about how the good of living beings depends on your life and what you want
.
.
.
-Well, I hope this has been satisfactory ✌🏼 haha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that would be me if I met sesshy from the first season— like… dude pls calm down 😭

no but i need to scream into the void or i'll go mad. listen. kikyo wasn't a bitch. i don't think the way she was written did her any justice; it just makes her easy to hate. and don't get me wrong, this isn't about her relationship with inuyasha or kagome at all, i just want to talk about her as a character because she is one of the most complex of them and she needs to be looked at with more empathy.
i've said it before and i'll say it again: her whole thing is that she is tragedy personified. think about it. everything, and i mean every single thing that could have gone wrong in her life, HAS gone wrong. she had a difficult upbringing, having to raise her little sister and having to shoulder the burden of being the sole purifier of the shikon jewel (which constantly put her and her village under threat). she was never dealt an easy hand to begin with. then, she finds solace in love, tries her best to think of a way of unraveling herself from her duties to live a free life, while still caring for others selflessly: she took in onigumo, and he betrayed her. by pretending to be inuyasha, he had her think that her lover had betrayed her as well, and succumbed to wounds inflicted by him (or so she thought), while sealing him to the goshinboku.
the last wish she spoke of was to take the shikon jewel to the beyond with herself. later, kagome finds a way to actually destroy the jewel, which was what kikyo had intended to do but couldn't. in her heart, her last wish was to see inuyasha again. the jewel corrupts this wish and grants it in the most fucked up way possible.
her remains are robbed from her grave and she is brought back to life with NO agency on the matter, by someone who wanted only to exploit her powers. now, untethered from from her past duties, she is finally free to experience emotion. and that includes bad emotions. so anger, resentment, jealousy, contempt, loneliness, selfishness (and that's part of being human). every unfulfilled wish, the unfairness of it all. she spends the rest of the series navigating this undead existence, the duality of not belonging anywhere, constantly torn between doing what is right and what needs to be done to reach her goal, having no choice but to consume souls of recently departed girls to have the energy to fight her only fight (destroying naraku), all the while helping villagers and kids, and even the inugang, despite not wanting to align with their agenda at first. she contemplates sacrificing kohaku, yes, but ultimately her redemption is that she chose to save him instead of purifying the jewel in the end. she showed that she trusted the inugang to finish what she couldn't, and chose to spare another life, if possible (she says so herself in ch441)
Tumblr media
it is very difficult to relate to someone that doesn't give access to her vulnerable side very often. her and sango are the two characters who had it the hardest and were forced to make the most difficult decisions out of everyone. but we love sango, even when she chose to sacrifice rin, even when she contemplated killing kohaku then herself, because we know where sango's heart lies and how torn she is about all of it. kikyo, on the other hand, is stoic and hardened by her life (and also post-life), but ultimately her biggest trait was kindness. we don't get to see her cry and be like woe is me about it, something that could've made us more empathetic towards her like we are with sango.
my point is kikyo deserves to be looked at through kinder eyes. she is a complex character, and she requires a bit more analysis and compassion to actually see who she really is. my tragic girl

They all stared at you in shock, and confusion as they looked between you and Inuyasha. “Adoptive… Mother?” Sango asked as she looked at you with an owlish look. You nodded your head at her before you looked around at the others, Miroku spoke up next. “I never knew that Inuyasha even had any sort of living family.” He said as he looked back at Inuyasha who was still sitting with his eyes closed. Shippo, sitting next to Kagome added. “I didn’t either, I just sort of figured that he was alone.” He said, Kagome nodded.
You smiled gently at the lot, before you looked over at the cauldron, seeing the rice swell, you picked up the spoon and steered the rice in the cauldron some. “Yes, I took Inuyasha in when he was still just a boy. He was just wandering around in the forest when he stumbled upon my home.” You explained, they all sat quietly, as they listened to your tale. “He was dirty and hungry, yet fierce and frightened, he seemed to have been fighting for survival.” You continued, you gently tapped the spoon on the rim, knocking off any access rice from the spoon before you place it back on its resting stone.
You looked back at Inuyasha over your shoulder, a fond smile on your face as you stared at him lovingly. “He was distant yet so sweet. He always came back for either a snack or a warm bed. He wouldn’t stay long at first.” You said. “But the more he came, the longer he stayed, until one day, he just never left… He would follow me around the hut and the forest like a little duckling. He was ever so sweet.” You said in a sweet voice as you placed your hand on your cheek and you closed your eyes. Kagome smiled. “Wow, so he was a sweet kid huh?” She said a slightly teasing tone in her voice.
Shippo joined in, a smirk on his face. “Yeah, so big, bad Inuyasha was a mamma’s boy.” He said. Inuyasha growled lowly in warning but they ignored him. “It would only make a scene, seeing as how protective he is.” Miroku chimed in, his eyes closed but a teasing smirk placed on his lips. Sango nodded. Inuyasha's eyes opened and he glared at the lot. “Would you all stop picking at me!” He accused. They all gave him a kind yet knowing smile. He snatched his head off as he angrily glared at the wall next to him, but his glare fell and a thoughtful yet distant look crossed his face.
They all stared at him in wonder before they followed his gaze. Kagome blinked before she asked the question everyone was thinking. “What’s that?” she asked as she pointed. You looked up at her before you followed where she was pointing and a sweet smile graced your face. “Ohh, that was Inuyasha’s when he was just a small boy.” You said as you stared at the wall. Inuyasha stared at the wall a little longer, memories crossing his mind of when he was a young boy before he looked away from it. He stared down at his lap, a distant look in his eyes. “You still got all that old junk?” He asked in a soft voice.
You smiled at his words before you looked over at him. “It may be old, but it’s far from junk.” You said, your eyes warm with love. On the wall, there was a bamboo shelf, upon it was a pale, red ball. It was slightly worn but it still looked to be in good condition. Next to the red ball was a small wooden, handcrafted spinning top. It was painted with red and white stripes but it was faded much like the ball. Next to the spinning top was a small vase. It had a picture of a white dog, with a lady and a small boy.
The lady was wearing a blue like Kimono, while the child wore a white outfit similar to Inuyasha’s red one. There was one giant tree and one little hut. The painting was faded but was taken well care of. The last thing on the shelf was a white folded up cloth, it seemed to be two stacked upon one another, folded neatly. “Are those items...” Sango trailed off. “Inuyahsa’s?” Miroku finished. They all looked over at you, and you nodded.
“Those items were Inuyasha’s childhood toys. The little red ball was given to him by his mother, the spinning top was crafted by the nice old man who was always traveling by, the vase was created by the young girl from the village, and the white clothes were once Inuyasha’s when he was a child.” You explained. Kagome looked over at the items, a thoughtful look on her face. “They’re all gifts.” She said.
You nodded at her words. “Yes, he wasn’t usually accepted by villages or by demons, but travelers who were passing would give him gifts. He used to help them find their way through the thick forest that once surrounded these lands, most humans couldn’t always find their way out, the greenery was much too thick. Some were fearful of him, while others were fond of him, but they were always grateful.” You said, as you stared at the items once more.
Mirkou looked up at the shelf, he pointed with his staff towards the vase. “Earlier, you said that a young girl from a village gave you that vase. Who was she? Did she paint that picture?” He asked. Surprisingly, Inuyasha spoke up this time, his arms crossed as he angled his head upwards. “She was from a village that was beyond the forest. She got lost one day and I had to help her find her way back. The stupid girl was angry at something small and wandered off, she’s lucky I was there to help.” He explained in an annoyed voice. They all stared at him, listening to the memory.
You remained quiet, as you moved the cauldron from over the fire, seeing that the rice was done, you placed it on a large square resting stone. “She was angry? Why?” Shippo asked, everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing. Inuyasha huffed. “It was over something really dumb, but it doesn’t matter anymore, she’s long gone now.” He said, his annoyed voice slowly faded into a somber one. Kagome perked up. “Gone?” She questioned. Sango looked down, her brows creased in slight sadness. “She’s not of this world anymore.” She said. They all stayed silent.
You silently drank from your tea cup, allowing the group to talk among themselves. Inuyashas broke from his sudden saddened state and snatched his head off. “It doesn’t matter anyways, she was dumb and really annoying, she always came around and I’d always have to walk her back. How do you get lost on the way back home? It was a straight walk.” He ranted, an annoyed look on his face as he slapped his hand on his knee. ‘sounds like she really enjoyed your company.” Kagome said. Shippo nodded. “Mmhmm, and it sounds like you liked her too.” He said, Miroku nodded in agreement. “I agree with Shippo, it sounded like a young romance.” He said.
Inuyasha’s cheeks flushed a light pink as he glared at them. “Would you both shut it!! How would you know, you weren’t even there!!” He said, his voice a growling annoyance as he tried to defend himself. Shippo jumped on Miroku’s shoulder, a knowing look on his face. “I don’t know Inuyasha, from what we hear it sounded like you liked her.” He said in a teasing voice. “WHATEVER!!” He shouted as he turned away from the two. Everyone laughed at Inuyasha’s misfortune, mostly just happy to get a deeper look into his history.
You smiled fondly at the sound of their laughter, as you prepared their plates. “Her name was Ima. She was a sweet girl, she painted the vase for Inuyasha as a thank-you gift.” You explained, answering Miroku’s question and explaining a bit more. They all stared at you, listening silently to your words. “Ima was always running away from home, there was always great trouble from her village, the violence was rather high, and to get away from it all she’d come here.” You explained more.
Their eyes widen at your words. “A village shrouded in violence? But why?” Kagome asked. “It was a great famine among the land. In order to survive, many would sell their young. Preferably young girls, it was to make ends meet.” You somberly explained. Their breaths hitched at your words. “That’s awful.” Sango said. “They never even got a chance.” Kagome said. You nodded your head in agreement. “It was a different time, it was more rougher than it is now. She gave that vase, as a thank you, but also as a parting gift.” You explained as you looked up at the vase.
“A parting gift?” Mirkou asked. You nodded, but Inuyasha answered before you did. His back was facing the group as he looked down at his lap. ‘She died… she was sold away for money, but before she could be taken, she took her own life.” He quietly explained. A sadness fell over the group, before they all looked up at the vase, the small ceramic now holding more weight to it than it did at first.
She was a victim of domestic violence and famine, but she was Inuyasha’s first friend and her first real taste of relaxation. “How old was she?” Kagome asked. You placed a plate down, three of the plates were already made, and you had three more to go. “She was 7, and her birthday had just passed before she died. She knew she was being sold, so for her birthday gift, she gave Inuyasha the vase and she stayed here the whole day. Then, she just vanished.” You said.
A heavy silence weighed over the room, Mirkou stood up and he walked over to the shelf, they all watched him. He stopped in front of the shelf, his eyes trained on the vase, before he closed his eyes and bowed his head, his hand coming up for prayer. Before he could start, he heard movement, and he opened his eyes, he looked around and he could see his friends. Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Inuyasha, and yourself, all stood in front of the shelf, your head bowed in respect. Miroku smiled before he closed his eyes and he said his prayer.
“Ima, you were young yet kind, you showed the kindness you wished you could have to someone you saw as more unfortunate than yourself. You gave and you cherished, you no longer belong to the earth, but your memory remains strong. I do not know you, but your kindness will forever be with me. May you rest in peace.”
They all stood in silence for a while longer, they opened their eyes and they stared at the vase. “Poor Ima, she was so young.” Kagome finally spoke up. “She truly was.” Sango said. Shippo nodded. “There’s no point in being sad, she’s in a much more better place now, so instead of being sad we should be happy. She could’ve suffered far worst.” Inuyasha said, he was straightforward about it.
Kagome wanted to scold him for sounding insensitive but you spoke up. “He’s right, she could’ve been in a far worst place than where she was when she passed, so we must rejoice in her memory.” You said before you walked over to the plates, they all watched you, and one by one they all joined you around the fire.
Inuyasha was the last one left near the shelf, he looked at the group, he was about to step behind them, but he stopped and his eyes widen. “Thank you, Inuyasha.” Came a childlike voice. He quickly turned his head around and looked behind him. He stared in a bewildered daze before he looked up at the vase. He stared at it for a moment, before he gave a small but meaningful smile before he walked away from the shelf.
He joined the group around the fire, ready to raise hell with Shippo over his sashimi. You smiled at his never-ending childish ways, happy to have him home once more. The vase on the shelf glowed from the fire as their shadows danced over it, the happy laughter of a child echoed.

🎃 Live Reports & Behind the scenes Pt.2
According to the interview from some audiences after the reveal of 6th’s and 7th’s cast, they thought it’s funny that team Bad Boy felt oddly cool to them, while on the other hand, team Hero were also cool but with even more chaotic vibes than the previous one —Everyone did wonder in unison that what went through the organizer’s head when they decided to put them together. Well, Raiden and Saji were the only exceptions since both of them were naturally pretty dedicated to their team titles.
Raiden got a bit carried away as he started laughing like some maniac by the end of his show. And in consequence of that, his temporary teammates were just… letting him be before all left the scene like nothing happened.
Since the beginning of the 9th show, the ladies of team “SolaLune Fairies” were seen solemnly walking out of the backstage with a dark long veil covering most part of their face and their outfits. Each of them were also noted to hold a bouquet with different flowers. Lola were red tulips, Evelyn were blue roses, Moriko were sunflowers, and Miku were moon orchids. But once the first beat of the song dropped out, they suddenly changed their moods and threw their veils away ...showing off their party dresses which were delicately designed just for each of them (ultimate kudos were given to those from the costume team). Thus, the true catwalk showdown began!
After all the teasing to throw their bouquets to the audience like in the wedding, it was still unknown who those ladies decide to give their bouquets to at the end. Maybe it was their lover/ bestie or etc. Who knows anyway? But as the show title hinted, they might probably give it to their fairest…
Before the 10th show starts, the camera caught Kanade having a high-five with Lola in the same fashion as those two boys from the first half.
Despite not being much active around these days, Hana Izanami (@snowmantita) was spotted coming here in secret to cheer for her friends.
The 11th show was obviously one of the best highlights of this event, given 6 of them were actually the famed performers to begin with! In addition, Queen card was the one who planned most details of the performance herself. Besides, some of them were really going all-out to the point where they attempted to compete with each other even. No wonder this show received very loud applause as a result, just like their team’s name implied.
There was one funny moment getting leaked out from the backstage. It was the photo of two gentlemen who literally had no idea why they were put in the same line with other talented showmen in the 11th show. Saigo seemed to be deep in thought about how much the staff have spent on props and special effects, while Nishio… He was caught flirting with other participants —Well, let’s hope that he wasn’t flirting with the wrong person there.
Despite the chill and anti-climax vibe that was very contrast to the intense impression from the previous show, the final show performed by team Bakemono was unexpectedly the children’s most favorite! Why was that? The secret of success not only lied in the lyrics of the song, but also its cute and catchy choreography. Moreover, they had also brought in the massive number of candies to throw into the crowd.
And due to some interviews with the parents, they told that this show truly deserved to be the closing show as it was in fact spoke the moral of this spooky event…
Before the show started, it was a record of five of them chatting with each other. And although it was all according to the script, Asahi confessed that they had retaken it so many rounds he actually lost count of.
And just as the name of their team indicated, they were all wearing the yokāi costumes! For example, Asahi was the Oni, Kohaku was attempting to look like Kasa-obake (even if it came out rather funny), Taria was Karasu tengu, Honoka had animal ears so maybe she was bakeneko or kitsune, and Ayaka wore triangle headband with a kimono to represent the yurēi ghost.
From what live reports said, despite being the performers of the show, both Asahi & Kohaku were noted to really enjoy their time the most —These two spiritual(?) twins loved throwing candies like they’re playing with snow, while Honoka and Ayaka might seem a bit stiff due to their not so great experiences with people. However, Taria was the one making them warm up and enjoy the moment just like other children did —Who else would understand the kids best if not someone with a children’s heart?

Weekly Roundup: Prompts
FGO
Gudako want to find something in the room until she was attacked by a naked and drunk Saberlot.
can I request something like Faker getting summoned to Chaldea after the case files collab extra story? If it gets written I’ll give a thousand thanks to the author.
smut, Y-Yandere yan qing (NSFW please) 👉👈😳
Mandrcardo x Yan Qing! VA jokes and Kiribaku type of crackship.
Takeru x Aesc! Can be platonic, romantic or sexual, i just think the idea is neat
Summer BB x Summer Kiara! They're both Moon Cancer High Servants. BB has Pele and Nyarlathotep while Kiara has Shen and Yaobikuni (the mermaids).
Ritsuka has a bisexual harem (both guys and girls)
Ryouma and Oryou. That’s it, that’s the prompt. (Joking aside, I just really want to anything with Ryouma and Oryou. As lighthearted or as dark as the writer/artists want. If I get cavities from the sweetness or feel nauseous from the depravity, it doesn’t matter to me. As long as it’s Ryouma and Oryou.)
Crossover
Walter White from Breaking Bad takes part in the 4th Fuyuki Grail War instead of Ryuunosuke, summoning Paracelsus
Yiffy Lalonde-Harley is summoned into Chaldea (as a Foreigner, on account of possibly having First Guardian hax) and proceeds to be a terrible influence on Abby.
Fate Stay Night x Pokemon SV prompt: Basically FSN cast living in Paldea region. The pairings: Nemona x Shirou Emiya and Arven x Rin Tohsaka.
Fate Extra x BNHA crossover prompt: Hakunon x Shinsou. Hakuno and the Extra/Extra CCC cast (the students) are in the same class as Shinsou, Class 1-C.
Kohaku and Hisui are now the maids of the Todoroki family, how would they take care of Todoroki Shouto?

#1: golden
In the end, Rin says on an early summer day, just as the sun is about to set. It comes out wrong, too. “Kaede,” she says, “is unusually long-lived.”
It’s this exquisite moment in which sunshine drapes the world—the village and the grass and the people—in the gold of jewellery or fine kimonos, a shade so precious she, too, feels silk-fine. Lord Sesshomaru makes a short, low sound in acknowledgment, and Rin notices his eyes flick towards the village below, past the slope of the hill and the scintillating stream of water irrigating the rice fields.
Kaede, bright red trousers and a frown, trudges out of the hut they have shared for years—looking for her, calling her home. Not that Rin can see her expression from here, but she knows she’s frowning. She usually is, when Lord Sesshomaru is here.
His eyes are on her, now, and somehow the bark under the palms of her hands becomes rougher, the log uncomfortable. She stretches her legs, her kimono riding up her calves to show a patch of skin that she began to cover years ago. His gaze, at time inscrutable, feels like scrutiny. This is new.
She’s just told him, as she usually does when he visits, about her days, and the harvests, and the births she’s assisted with, and her progress with calligraphy and the—limited—training with Kohaku, and never once have his eyes shown—this.
“Have you and the priestess had a disagreement?” he asks eventually.
Kaede is unusually long-lived, she just said. She realises, awkwardly, that it sounded like a statement of ill-wish. Lord Sesshomaru is puzzled. He, too, is bathed in light, and perhaps her words came out wrong because she was too busy admiring how the sun caught in the silver strands of his hair. So, with renewed intent, she looks into his eyes, his beautiful, amber eyes, and she clarifies: “One should be so lucky to reach her age.”
He hums again, but the intensity of his gaze does not falter. “Indeed,” he says, the tone a question.
“One should be so lucky to reach her age,” Rin says again. And then: “I should be so lucky to reach her age.”
And his eyes widen.

@inuyashapridemonth
Rin’s father was a traditionalist. He had very little patience for things he considered to be nonsensical or ‘pointless’ and his disapproval was as cold and as cruel as winter itself. Just the other day he’d been up in arms over the concept of decaf coffee. It wasn’t how nature intended it, he’d grumbled, and in the end mom had groaned for him to throw it away if it was such an affront to nature.
And he had.
So when Kohaku told them over dinner that he was bringing home his partner for Christmas all eyes were soon on her. Surely if shy little Kohaku had found love then their lively daughter had come across a lover of her own—and she had. Technically. Technically, Shiori was not her first girlfriend either, but she’d been able to keep it under wraps until that moment.
“Do you have someone special?” Her mother’s dark eyes glittered with excitement at the prospect of a full house that Christmas, which, in turn made it even harder to keep her secret.
“I do.” But she hesitated to say much more. It was only when her father spoke that she wished she’d kept it to herself entirely.
“Invite him over.” He nibbled his chopsticks in that thoughtful way of his. “InuYasha and his brood will be joining us anyway, so it is as good of a time as any.”
Rin stabbed her dinner with her chopsticks, her stomach swirling uncomfortably.
“Yeah. I’ll ask… him.”
Pt 1 of… 🤷🏾‍♀️

UNTITLED WIP
This is just something that randomly popped in my head. I'm thinking I might continue this & make it a full story. Idk yet though. I'm posting it on a few platforms to see if there's any interest before I spend the time writing the rest.
Sweat ran down her face mixing with blood and tears. For once, the blood wasn't Kagomes. But that didn't make things any better. Naraku had finally made his move and she only managed to get through the toughest battle of her life by the skin of her teeth.
Her riki mixed with both Inuyasha and Sesshoumarus combined strength had managed to bring down the vile hanyu once and for all.
It should have been perfect. They should have been safe at last! But even though the world hadn't ended...the victorious group wasn't so lucky. Looking around the battlefield Kagome became distraught. The mangled and broken bodies of her friends littered the ground.
Sango and Miroku were huddled next to each other with a sword skewering them together. Kirara was torn in two while Jaken was a mere green smear on the ground. Ah-Un had been beheaded, and his body was torn to pieces. Kikyo was nowhere to be found and Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru lay with gaping holes in their chests, a final 'fuck you' from Naraku she supposed. Even the children weren't spared as Shippo, Rin, and Kohaku lay piled together in the bushes.
Unconsciously she wished with all her heart and soul for everyone to get another chance because none of them.deserved this. They fought too hard for too long to just end in their demise.
She watched as the jewels light slowly faded to nothingness leaving behind an empty shell, like the hollow eyes of her group staring back at her accusingly. There was no way that its magic could return to the land of the living after it left the physical realm.
But it just didn't feel right. Everything about this situation felt wrong. The smell of burnt flesh filled her nose. It reminded her too much of how she lost control over her powers.
'I did this' a voice in the back of her mind whispered. Her breathing became shallow and uneven. This couldn't be real! Tears began streaming down her face mixing with the blood trickling out from underneath her ear and down her neck. Kagome wanted to scream but found that she couldn't produce enough air to let loose.
They were dead, the jewel wasn't showing signs of magic, and she didn't know what to do.
All Kagome knew is the feeling of helplessness. She felt hopeless, like she was going to break down if she tried to speak and everything went black. A sharp pain ripped through her head making her fall to her knees as her vision blurred and then turned completely white.
xxx
She woke up hours later near the bone eaters well disoriented and confused. "What's going on? How did I get here?"
"I brought you here." The cold voice of kikyo broke through Kagomes daze and she stared in wonder at what she was seeing. Kikyo was now alive. Truly alive. She could sense her living spirit and aura, unfortunately they were both tainted with jealousy and bitterness.
"You don't belong here copy. It's time you returned to your era once and for all."
She said her voice filled with hatred.
"How are you still alive? I watched Naraku kill you!" Kagome replied. The question felt more desperate than anything else she'd said in quite some time.
She needed answers. The truth.
If she was alive, that meant something must have happened. Something that changed everything.
"You can't continue living in my time if i am.to live my life beside Inuyasha." Kikyo spat. "But, he's dead. Everyone is!"
"Foolish copy! The power of the shikon has brought them back, stronger than before. The battle has been won and your quest is done. You are no longer needed. Go home."
"No! I'm not going anywhere until I know what happened!" Kagome shouted, standing up abruptly. Despite her injuries she remained defiant and stood tall, despite shrinking under her previous incarnations narrow gaze.
"Don't be so foolish! If you remain here, I'll have no choice but to kill you. You'll just die alone and unwanted! Leave!"
"No! Why should I leave jist because you dont want me here?!"
But instead if replying Kikyo physically retaliated instead. With a shove and a scream, Kagome felt herself falling backwards into darkness. Once again, she was plunged into oblivion.
xxx
When she opened her eyes once more it was bright and noisy. She groaned as a wave of dizziness overwhelmed her. Slowly, she lifted her hand to shield her face. As she moved her hand away, however, a gasp left her lips when she saw someone standing over her. She was surprised when she recognized who it was but before she could say anything, the figure leaned closer towards her. Her breath caught in her throat. "Kagome? When did you get home?"

I was replaying the scene where Rin hugs Sakura, and...
Tumblr media
...she mentions how she suffered for the sake of her sister, thinking that as long as she took all the suffering she was taking, it made things better for Sakura.
One sister taking what she believes is all the pain, in the hopes it’ll let her other sister live a happier life, that sounds really...
Tumblr media
...familiar.
I feel like the parallels between Sakura and Kohaku are pretty clear, but I didn’t realize there was also a parallel between Rin and Kohaku.
With both of them feeling that as long as they continued suffering, their sister would have a better life. And both of them were wrong.
Rin suffering did nothing to ease Sakura’s pain, and the distance between them only made things worse. Just like how Kohaku’s suffering caused Hisui to suffer, just in a completely different way.

I'm going to add more events to this later, but I decided to make a timeline with the character ages included year-by-year. Inuyasha and Yashahime both have a "real-time" timeline that coincides with the year they were written/animated, so these dates are all the official dates according to the licensed material. See notes at the bottom for character ages.
Inuyasha Official Timeline
1996 - Middle school student Kagome (15) travels to feudal era, meets Inuyasha (emotionally about 15), Miroku (17), Sango (15)*, Shippo (emotionally about 7) and Kohaku (11). Sesshomaru (emotionally about 19) meets Rin (8) several months later. Kagome's brother Sota (8) is in 3rd grade.
1997 - Naraku is defeated. Kagome (16) is trapped in the modern era and starts high school. Miroku (18) and Sango (16) get married, have identical twin girls (Kin'u and Gyokuto) later that year/early the following year. Rin (9) moves in with Kaede (60?). Kohaku (12) continues working as a demon slayer on his own.
2000 - Final Act. Miroku (20) and Sango (19) have Hisui. Rin (12) helps Kaede (63) deliver Hisui. Kagome (19) returns to the feudal era and marries Inuyasha. Bone eaters well is sealed when Kagome returns, but 7 months later, Root Head enters tree of ages and gains power to establish a gate to the future.
2004 - Rin (16). Hisui (4).
2006 - Rin (18) gives birth to Towa and Setsuna. Kagome (25) gives birth to Moroha. Rin is trapped in the tree of ages to stop her curse from killing her. Inuyasha and Kagome also trapped (in tree of ages in the manga, in the gateway to the next world in anime...which also slows aging). All three Yashahime are hidden to protect them.
2010 - Towa (4) sent to modern Tokyo and meets Sota (22) and is adopted by him soon after. Setsuna (4) sent to live in hanyo sanctuary.
2020 - Sota (32) and his family meet Moroha (14). Miroku (41) and Sango (39) are expecting another child (in the manga). Towa (14) and Setsuna (14) break the curse on Rin (32, physically still 18). Kagome (39, physically still 25 in manga) and Inuyasha are set free and reunited with Moroha. Kohaku (35) and Hisui (20) continue working as demon slayers. Kaede (83?) is still kicking, probably thanks to her powers as a priestess.

*Rumiko-sensei gives a range of 15-16 for Sango and 17-18 for Miroku, and since the events of Inuyasha (excluding the last episode) take place over a year, I started at the lower year and ended on the higher year. Only Kagome and Kohaku are given specific ages in the original manga. All other ages are calculated from dialogue in both series that confirm the dates of these events (more sources to be added later).
In fedual era Japan (up until about 1950), birthdates are not kept track of, so people turn a year older on new year's day (lunar reckoning) regardless of what month they were born.
It shouldn't come as a shock that demons age and mature differently than humans. Though they live much longer, they mature at a much slower rate, especially because of their natural emotional handicaps. Demons who never learn to experience compassion or love usually remain the emotional equivalent of a human child - they are extremely self-centered. This is why Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, though much older than their human companions, are still like teenagers when it comes to their emotional maturity. However, once they open their hearts to humans, their maturity grows by leaps and bounds in a very short amount of time. The approximate emotional ages of the demon characters are based from Rumiko-sensei's interviews, though she has always left it more open to the readers. No, it's not an exact science. But this is a feudal fairy tale, so try not to get too hung up on ages and maturity levels.

Sesskik Weekend - Day 3: Family/Protectors of children
And here's my final entry, by far my favorite of the three days, both story-wise and art-wise. Hope you enjoy!
Read on FF.net//AO3
The whistling tune of the Soul Piper's call enveloped Kohaku when he regained some manner of corporeality and consciousness. He opened his eyes slowly, knowing all too well what its presence meant, prepared, deep in his heart, to obey that call, no matter if he was full of regrets, no matter if over the past months he had found himself truly wishing to live out his life as best as possible, in a world at peace, with those he treasured…
But he wasn't alone in that dark, spiritual space where the Piper's music echoed beautifully.
Kohaku gasped: Sesshomaru seemed to glow underneath ethereal spiritual lights with Tenseiga, the sword he seldom wielded, clasped firmly in his sole hand.
"You will not claim the boy's soul," his voice echoed firmly: Kohaku gasped again, raising a hand towards his stalwart protector.
"Lord Sesshomaru…!" he gasped.
"Stay back, Kohaku," Sesshomaru said: the words were harsh, but the tone of his voice was not unkind. Kohaku froze where he hovered, in the midst of that vast darkness.
The sword in Sesshomaru's hold seemed to shine: Kohaku frowned, identifying the source of that glow as… spiritual powers? How was that possible, in the hands of a demon lord like him…?
It wasn't just any spiritual power: it was the very same power that had purified the shard that no longer resided in the nape of Kohaku's neck. Lady Kikyo… what had she done?
Tenseiga continued to glow threateningly, and Sesshomaru raised the weapon towards the Soul Piper. It continued to play its flute, its eyes opening slowly… until they didn't.
The tune drifted into nothingness, and the spiritual energy pulsating from Tenseiga seemed to demand for Sesshomaru to take action in a new way, even as the Soul Piper drifted back into nothingness. Kohaku blinked, utterly perplexed by Sesshomaru's intervention… by whatever the demon lord's choice would mean, going forward.
"Lord Sesshomaru…" Kohaku said, shivering. "I didn't mean to burden you, or Lady Kikyo. I…"
Sesshomaru frowned as he drifted closer to Kohaku: he raised Tenseiga in Kohaku's direction and Kohaku briefly thought he had lost his patience, and that he'd chosen to cut Kohaku down himself.
The blade swung down upon him.
Kohaku awoke suddenly, in the very same cabin Sesshomaru and Kikyo had brought him to a few days ago, in order to remove the Jewel's shard for good.
"Kohaku!" Rin's voice broke the silence, and Kikyo's hand touched his cheek delicately.
"You've returned to us," she said, kindly. "It seems he was successful."
"W-what… what happened?" Kohaku asked, pushing himself up nervously: his hand moved towards his neck… where an unwanted, unsettling presence had once dwelled. He had noticed its absence when his soul had dwelled in that odd, spiritual plane: the shard was no longer there. "Lord Sesshomaru came to me, he… he scared the Soul Piper away! Lady Kikyo…!"
"That man is full of surprises," Kikyo smiled fondly at Kohaku as he sat up properly. "Over the past weeks we devised a way to preserve your life. As for the shard…"
She raised it: it was pristine, so much it almost seemed white rather than pink. Kohaku let out a soft laugh, a nervous one, as his eyes shifted towards the beaming, joyful Rin.
"Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Kikyo saved you!" she exclaimed, rushing in to hug Kohaku: for once, the boy didn't seem to hesitate to hug her back. "You're safe, Kohaku! You are!"
"T-thank you. Thank you…" Kohaku said, gazing at Kikyo with helpless, tearful eyes. She smiled fondly at him, nodding her head in his direction.
"If even I have found this life of mine may be worth living, after all… your soul, as well, deserved to be saved from a fate that was forced upon you," Kikyo said, earnestly. "The purity of preserving a life is far greater than the one in sacrificing it for the alleged right reasons, Kohaku."
"I… I don't know if I understand, but…" Kohaku admitted, hugging Rin still. "Thank you, Lady Kikyo. And Lord… Lord Sesshomaru?"
The demon lord was not present in the room just yet, and only then did Kohaku realize he had returned to this plane of existence far faster than Sesshomaru had. Kikyo smiled, shaking her head reassuringly.
"Tenseiga led him on a mysterious path to find you, but he will return to us when…"
It had only been five minutes since the shard's removal, if even that. Yet, in that moment, Sesshomaru's protection had faded from the world of the living while he traveled across lands of the dead to save Kohaku's soul. Kikyo had poured some of her spiritual powers into Tenseiga, and Sesshomaru had found greater potential in the weapon than ever before: no longer was it relegated to saving souls moments after their demise… but he could contest the souls that would be claimed by spirits, both wicked and good-natured alike: Kohaku, being a child, had been sought by the Soul Piper, and Sesshomaru, wielder of the sword of the Netherworld, had the power to ensure Kohaku's soul would be spared.
At the very beginning of their efforts to save Kohaku, the purified shard had been removed from the boy's neck. It rested in Kikyo's hand now… and as pure as it was, as distant from dark, evil thoughts as it might be, it still served as an unintentional beacon for the rest of the Jewel, in Naraku's possession.
The small hut suddenly was overcome by a suffocating miasma, its source unsurprising and utterly predictable. Kohaku fished for his face mask in his pocket, intending to offer it to Rin… only for the miasma to stop short of reaching them, once Kikyo rose to her feet.
"L-lady Kikyo! Lady Kikyo!" Jaken screeched and coughed, yanking the door of the hut open and sneaking inside it. "Outside, it's…!"
"He has come for the final shard," Kikyo said, serene and stern, her brow furrowed: the powers she wielded seemed revitalized somehow, Kohaku realized, for she kept the miasma at bay while betraying absolutely no effort to do so. "I had hoped Sesshomaru would have returned before this moment… but I may need to confront Naraku myself."
"Lady Kikyo…!" Kohaku gasped. Jaken winced, too.
"D-do not be reckless! Lord Sesshomaru will be cross if you jump into danger…!" Jaken squeaked. Despite herself, Kikyo smiled at the imp.
"You needn't worry for my safety, Jaken. Not today," Kikyo stated, closing her eyes:
She could feel the bond between them as Sesshomaru's sword guided him through the pathways beyond this world. He would return soon… but even if he didn't, he carried a part of her with him, the power she had infused his sword with. Just so, she carried him with her, in the emotions he had woken within her very soul, in the purpose he had granted her, in the strength she had found in his companionship.
He was with her, and she was with him. Together, they were everything Naraku had hoped to be and never would. Together, their power far outdid that of a Sacred Jewel.
Together, they would protect these children… their family.
Thus, she stepped forward, powering her barrier further and chasing away the dark energies Naraku had unleashed upon the small cabin.
She pushed the door open anew, finding Naraku's typical army of lesser demons waiting in the large plains before them, ready to attack. His newest creation, Byakuya, hovered near the very source of the festering demonic corruption, Naraku himself. The smug smirk that ever decorated his face was a most unpleasant sight… but Kikyo certainly hoped it would be the last time she would ever glimpse it.
"I see you have finally removed the shard from Kohaku's neck, Kikyo," Naraku said. "Yet his soul has not been claimed. Saving his life was a valiant effort… but one that is ultimately meaningless. I will take that shard today."
"You certainly shall," Kikyo declared, raising her bow and nocking an arrow to threaten Naraku away from her protegees.
"You cannot hope to maintain that barrier forever," Naraku declared. "Even one as powerful as you, Kikyo, would lose their strength over time. Is it you hope to recreate the past? The great priestess Midoriko and the demon that hunted her certainly created something beautiful. Is that what you hope to achieve by standing your ground against me today?"
"Trapping myself, and you, in an endless struggle of evil and purity?" Kikyo asked: a slight smirk tugged at the side of her mouth. "What a revolting notion."
Naraku let out a devious chuckle as he hovered closer. Kikyo's arrow gleamed with spiritual power: the fragment in her hand seemed to have a will of its own, wanting its power to infuse the arrow with which she would destroy Naraku… and yet she didn't loosen the arrow. The barrier around them remained as sturdy as ever.
"This is the fate you choose, however. Revolting as you may claim it is, we shall be entwined for eternity if your plan is what I've understood it to be," Naraku said. "A purified shard, is it? You trust the purity will cleanse away the corruption I have poured into the Sacred Jewel? Your arrogance knows no boundaries, Kikyo."
"No one is quite as boastful as you are. Do not pretend to lecture me about my shortcomings when you're smitten with your own," Kikyo snapped. Naraku laughed anew.
"Harsh words won't change the inevitable…"
"Kikyo! Kikyo!"
The familiar voice caused Kikyo's eyebrow to twitch: even so, the barrier didn't shift, although Naraku's attention shifted briefly.
"Ah. I see you've arrived, Inuyasha," Naraku said, smirking down at the half-demon and his entourage.
The half-demon and all his friends rushed into the scene at haste, and it was no surprise that the demon slayer would cry out in anguish upon realizing her younger brother was in danger. Only Kikyo stood between him and Naraku's reach… she didn't realize her brother was alive once again, by his own power, until Kagome gasped, revealing her realization in loudly:
"Kohaku's shard…! Kikyo is holding it!" she exclaimed. Sango, on Kirara's back, paled upon hearing those words. "Sango, Kohaku is still alive!"
"E-eh…?" Sango's lips parted: yes, her brother was there… she could see him, plain and clear, hugging Rin within that cabin. He wasn't dead… the shard was gone. Somehow, Kikyo and Sesshomaru had preserved his life.
At least, he was alive for the time being: Naraku certainly appeared determined to kill everyone here and now, going by the strength of his miasma, as well as the army of demons he commanded callously.
"Kikyo! We'll distract him: get away!" Inuyasha bellowed, drawing his sword and leaping towards Naraku and his minions.
Even so, Kikyo didn't move an inch.
Inuyasha, as ever, battled fiercely against Naraku: his friends took to doing the same thing, but their efforts were futile. Where one monster was slain, three would take its place. Naraku seemed amused, no doubt marveling over the sheer power the Sacred Jewel already granted him… the power he hoped would increase further once he had completed the Jewel. It was only a matter of time…
"Kikyo! Kikyo!" The demon slayer rode towards the barrier, and Kikyo gritted her teeth as she allowed it to weaken slightly, just so the woman could cross its boundaries. Sango leapt off Kirara's back as soon as she could do so, running towards the cabin at haste. "Kagome says…! Kohaku!"
"Sister!" Kohaku exclaimed, rushing up to hug the woman once she reached them. "Lady Kikyo and Lord Sesshomaru… they saved me. They took the shard and I lived anyway…!"
"They… t-they truly saved you?" Sango dropped to her knees, tears of relief pouring from her eyes.
Still hugging her brother, she turned towards Kikyo, whose position didn't change in the slightest so far. The barrier was back to its full power, now protecting Sango and Kirara as well.
"Thank you for what you've done. I can't imagine I could ever repay you for it, but… both Rin and Kohaku should be taken to safety," Sango said. Kikyo's brow furrowed as Jaken protested Sango's words, whether over outrage of her apparent dismissal of Kikyo's ability to protect them… or over believing he, too, should have been part of the group that deserved protection. "I can take them to…"
"It would be of no use. Keeping them in the battlefield is as irresponsible as removing them from our protection," Kikyo stated. "Perhaps the latter is even more so."
"But…! You can't fight as easily if you're protecting them, can you?" Sango said. "You would be of great help, Naraku is…!"
"I will fight him. His final moments are at hand. But first… I must wait."
"W-wait?" Sango repeated, blinking blankly.
Kikyo breathed deeply before a smile graced her smooth features.
"He's coming."
Sango didn't understand what Kikyo's words meant. She knelt where she did, still embracing Kohaku…
She gasped when the blade of a sword slashed across the air, within their barrier.
Slowly, a portal was crafted by that blade. It was similar to the Meido Zangetsuha technique, and yet… it evoked a different sensation. It connected to something else, something beyond most their understanding…
And out of that portal stepped Sesshomaru, his brow lightly furrowed as he sheathed Tenseiga once more.
Kikyo lowered her bow, at last. Her eyes softened as she gazed into those of the demon lord, who raised his sole hand to cup her cheek.
"It is time," Sesshomaru said. Kikyo nodded.
"Naraku has made his appearance. This is the moment to strike," she said. Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes before pulling his hand back.
He clasped Tenseiga by the sheath. Kikyo frowned as he placed the blade upon her hands, and the pulsating spiritual energies she had poured into the weapon before engulfed them both.
"Sesshomaru…" Kikyo called him.
"Wield this blade. I will provide the opening you seek," Sesshomaru declared.
He trusted her wholly, fully, as he stepped away and towards the enemy. Jaken, Kohaku and Rin called for him, but no words reached his ears as he dashed forward, into the fray where Inuyasha, Kagome and Miroku battled fiercely so far…
Before their eyes, Sesshomaru's body began to change. Clothes were replaced by fur, the stoic stern demeanor shifted into a wild snarl… and he grew in size abruptly, vastly, outdoing the largest of Naraku's demons, if not Naraku himself.
"Is that…?!" Sango gasped.
"Lord Sesshomaru's beautiful true form! He will not allow that vermin Naraku to get away with this!" Jaken roared fiercely, gazing at Sesshomaru with undeterred reverence.
Kikyo's brow furrowed: this was the final battle, and it would happen on their terms, not Naraku's. Sesshomaru rammed Naraku with his body, knocking him down, poisoning him with another kind of venom, different from Naraku's miasma. The battle between them was fierce and no less chaotic when the other three continued to fight as well, with Miroku reducing the crowd of demons with his wind tunnel, Kagome attacking Byakuya relentlessly, and Inuyasha with his wild, massive attacks with Tessaiga, aimed towards Naraku…
"I cannot take action from here. I… I must reach Naraku," Kikyo frowned, glancing at Sango. "Your nekomata…"
"You need us to get you closer?" Sango asked. Kikyo nodded firmly. Sango swallowed hard. "Can you… keep the children safe?"
It was an easy request to fulfill: she erected a new, static barrier upon the three under her and Sesshomaru's protection before joining Sango on the back of Kirara.
"Lady Kikyo…! Sister!" Kohaku shouted from within the barrier, gritting his teeth. "Go! Defeat Naraku!"
"Lady Kikyo!" Rin shouted too, hoping to encourage her along with Kohaku.
The priestess smiled kindly at the children before focusing on the battle anew: Sesshomaru had taken wounds, but he brushed them off carelessly. Her brow furrowed as they flew closer to the core of the conflict, finding that Inuyasha wasn't holding back his attacks… and neither was Sesshomaru, something that could result in both brothers injuring each other rather than their foe. Kikyo breathed deeply, watching as Kagome shot holy arrows in quick succession at Byakuya, who had taken some damage even if he had dodged most of the projectiles. She had to be pondering the weaknesses of Naraku and his incarnation, wanting to find anything her arrows could destroy that wouldn't regenerate immediately afterwards…
But Kikyo knew that Naraku, as he was now, had no greater weakness than the Sacred Jewel, corrupted and festering, in his grasp.
"And here comes the holy priestess…!" Naraku declared, upon glimpsing Kikyo on the back of Kirara. "The shard… it will be mine!"
"Not for an instant…" Kikyo whispered, drawing an arrow anew and aiming it towards Naraku. "Your rotting, festering evil will not strengthen any further, Naraku!"
"Your powers are no match against mine!" Naraku roared, but Kikyo released the arrow regardless of the monster's boast:
The holy light of her arrow gleamed brightly as it broke past multiple barriers of the demon's defenses. The glowing arrow tore into the corruption and reduced Naraku's strength with that sudden, surprising blast.
"That is…!" Kagome gasped, from the ground: she could sense that Kikyo's arrow had uncovered the Jewel's location if just briefly, and she aimed her next arrow in that direction as well.
Sesshomaru attacked him anew, attempting to tear at the rotting, reforming flesh that once again attempted to cover the weak spot in which the almost-complete Jewel nestled: twisted appendixes of the great demon conjunction continued to swirl around that weakness, and some of them rushed out towards Kikyo.
"You have done well," Kikyo told Sango, who had been steering Kirara away from the many threats that attempted to attack them.
"Hang on…!" Sango exclaimed, tossing her hiraikotsu to destroy the tendrils of evil that reached towards them.
A flash of yellow power cut across Naraku's body, next. The rotting chunks of corrupt beings were sucked away, into a void… and then, a burst of purity struck the area of the Jewel once more. All those attacks at once ensured that the regeneration of Naraku's shields and protections over the Jewel could not be achieved as fast as before. Sesshomaru's large demon form continued to tear and rip into every chunk of demon Naraku's body was comprised by, with no regard towards the miasma or the corruption, immobilizing his foe as best as possible.
"There!" Kagome shouted. "Kikyo, the Jewel…!"
"Kikyo!" Inuyasha roared as well. "Shoot now!"
They spoke with full trust in her abilities while not understanding, not truly, what she intended to do. But Kikyo had no time to explain, not anymore. She leapt off Kirara's back, to Sango's utter astonishment, diving fast, head-first, towards the now cleared spot in Naraku's wretched body, where the corrupted Jewel sought its final shard…
Her eyes closed as her hair came loose in the wind. Her hand, instead of reaching for a holy arrow, clasped the hilt of the beautiful sword Sesshomaru had entrusted to her.
In her control, Tenseiga gleamed brightly. In her grasp, the spirituality inherent to the demon's weapon seemed to burst into life.
It was everything the Sacred Jewel could never be. A perfect balance between demonic forces and spiritual ones.
Its power had been dormant for as long as Sesshomaru had failed to understand what he did now: he had granted Tenseiga to Kikyo willingly, trusting her as his equal, as the partner he had accepted by his side. The enemy he now fought against was no longer vermin to exterminate for the sake of remediating his slighted pride…
Now, Sesshomaru fought to protect those he had grown to care for, from the depths of his demon's heart.
Just so, Kikyo's quest for revenge against the monster responsible for her lifetime's tragedies had lost much of its former importance: she would protect this world, as well as the valuable lives of those she had met in her journey.
Together, they embodied an ideal union of spiritual and demonic. They were true balance, for that was what they had wanted to be. The trust between them bridged their souls together… and through that union, the birth of a new world would be within their reach.
Kikyo dropped the shard: it spun on its way down, drawn towards the Jewel that longed to be complete.
That single shard fell into place, and the pulse of spiritual energy shook Naraku: it would take his every effort to fight back against that purity, to corrupt it before it could purge the Jewel from his influence…
The tip of Tenseiga swung down, connecting with the Jewel on the very spot upon which the pure shard had fallen.
A blast of energies, demonic and pure alike, shot across the land, the oceans, the sky.
Most of those near Naraku were flung off with the power of that blast… most, save for Sesshomaru, whose claws tore across the crumbling body of the wretched being who could no longer sustain his own power… not without the Jewel, a crutch through which he had ensured his survival, constantly, for almost a full year.
He was but the weak, craven, dishonest Naraku once more. A blend of corrupt demons and a human soul even more corrupt than the fiends it had drawn to itself…
The power of Sesshomaru's unyielding fangs and talons, and the spiritual blade Kikyo stabbed into the spot where Onigumo's heart once beat, destroyed every remnant of the demon aberration that was once known as Naraku.
The overwhelming light surrounding her served to help her focus on her own shape, her own soul, once more. Slowly, she seemed to grow aware of the strange, spiritual space in which she drifted… a space that didn't appear all that unfamiliar. She couldn't seem to process what had happened just yet… but when the figure before her formed into a recognizable shape and presence, it became much easier to remember the events that had brought her into this plane of existence.
Before her stood a regal, beautiful priestess clad in armor, wielding a sword much like the one Kikyo had held earlier, in what had felt like moments ago but might have been a lifetime, instead. The priestess's serenity didn't hide the gratitude she felt, and she bowed her head towards Kikyo in a gesture of true respect.
It wasn't only gratitude for having saved the last remnants of her soul after so many years, she knew: it was gratitude for breaking the cycle of relentless violence between humans and demons. She had refused to prolong Midoriko's legacy any further, and Midoriko herself now thanked her for it: Kikyo had found a way to stop Naraku, to break apart his desire to lock himself with her in another endless battle, one where Kikyo's longing for a life of her own would never matter in the least. Their endless battle would have only been about him… his selfishness, his greed, his desperation for her acknowledgement through any means: if that acknowledgement came in the form of utmost hatred, he would welcome it gladly so long as she spared a glance in his direction.
Even now, adrift in that spiritual space, the concept sickened her. That her life could have become nothing but a single speck of goodness battling a sea of corruption, all be it because of that demon's wretched desires…
But she had been freed from such a fate. Another demon, to be precise, had offered her the means to attain actual freedom from those designs.
And in doing so, she had grown to feel something quite unexpected towards that very demon. Something she had never anticipated she would experience at all, not towards one of his kind… and yet the tears that surged in her eyes now could not have any other explanation.
She didn't want to follow Midoriko into ascendence and peace. She had failed to follow her example: she had crafted her own path… a path that had brought Kikyo closer to humanity than any priestess was supposed to be. Just so, the man who had accompanied her on this journey had, as well, drifted closer towards the barrier that was supposed to separate them as entirely different beings. A barrier that was knocked down and destroyed with ease by the blade they shared, by the children they had protected together…
She didn't want to go… not just yet. She knew she was supposed to, she knew her natural lifespan was well and truly spent… but she didn't wish to do so. Being a normal woman had been her dream, her deepmost, muffled wish… and he had told her she was extraordinary by nature. He couldn't understand that she had never felt more like a normal woman, with needs, desires and careless, innocent wishes, than she had while in his arms.
She wanted to be with him. Deep down, she wanted him and their small, odd, perhaps mismatched, family. Rin, Kohaku, Jaken, A-Un… she longed to see all of them again. If just the one more time, if just to say goodbye…
She wanted to go back. She wanted to go back. She wanted to…
"… she's waking up! She is!"
Warmth. A strong, comforting presence… and warmth, powerful, swirling warmth holding her tightly against something soft…
"Lady Kikyo!"
She had been in those arms before. She had heard those voices before.
"Lady Kikyo!"
She drew in a sharp breath, well before opening her eyes.
Her chest rose and fell. She shivered, and the embrace around her tightened further.
"She's… she's breathing!"
"I told you, she's different! Her scent is like… like the old Kikyo!"
That loud voice, terribly familiar, could only have belonged to one person. His words seemed to bounce back and forth within her mind as she struggled to come to terms with reality: she was breathing. She was breathing. She was…
Her heart was beating.
She had a heart, to begin with.
Her eyes opened gradually, taking in the sunlight she was shrouded from under the shade of an old tree. The breeze brushed against her face, the scent of spring drifted by… her stomach churned with hunger. Her joints ached from effort, it seemed. Her breaths kept coming and going, one after the other, in flowing succession…
And once her eyes focused, she found an intense golden stare upon her.
Sesshomaru held her. His stoic expression was unreadable for most, but not for her: he was concerned over her wellbeing. He held her tightly, unconcerned with whoever might see her in his arms. He had nothing to hide, nothing to feel shame for… not when his heart flooded him with emotions he finally had recognized as a source of strength rather than weakness. He held her so tightly…
Kikyo gasped: he held her with both arms.
"S-Sesshomaru…" she said. His eyes softened upon hearing his name from her lips.
"Kikyo!" Inuyasha exclaimed: she knew he was nearby, but she seemed entranced in Sesshomaru's hold, unable and unwilling to tear her eyes away from him.
"You have awoken," Sesshomaru said. How she had grown to recognize the subtleties in his voice, the small sprinkle of happiness that nobody else would be able to sense in his tone…
But she could, for she knew his heart just as well as he knew her newly beating own. She understood him and he understood her: that very mutual understanding had brought them to walk a path together, knowing not where it would lead them, but not needing to know, either: as long as they walked side by side, nothing would deter them, nothing would stand in their way…
Not even Naraku.
"Is he…?" Kikyo blurted out, struggling to regain his bearings. "Naraku, is he…"
"He is no more," Sesshomaru answered. Kikyo might have smiled upon hearing the news, but the shock of her circumstances prevented her from doing as much.
"Kikyo…" Kagome's voice reached her, and Kikyo gritted her teeth as she glanced to the side at last: Inuyasha's most faithful companion knelt beside her, eyes wide with amazement. "You purified him out of existence, somehow. When the light from Tenseiga faded… we only found you and Sesshomaru in the wreckage. The Sacred Jewel is… it's gone."
"Destroyed," Kikyo said, blinking weakly. Kagome nodded.
"And you were human, once more," she said.
Kikyo trembled upon hearing those words. Kagome offered her a tearful smile and a nod as Kikyo glanced at Sesshomaru next. His hands pulled her closer as she shivered, confused, grateful, astonished… the emotions she felt seemed to swell and threaten to burst at the same time. He pressed his brow to hers in a reassuring gesture, and Kikyo closed her eyes as her hand reached out… to touch his left. What hadn't been there, before…
"What happened?" she asked. "Sesshomaru, your arm…"
"When I returned to this form…" Sesshomaru said. Kikyo gazed at him in utmost confusion. "It was part of me once more."
Kikyo let her gaze drift down towards his hip… where a new sword sat, one she had never seen before. Sesshomaru nodded slowly at her perplexity.
"Bakusaiga. A weapon of my own," he explained.
Kikyo smiled slowly, her hand reaching up to his face. Her fingertips ever traced the lines across his cheeks until she cupped his face, in a gesture so intimate she could sense Kagome pulling back ever so slightly, no doubt feeling out of place upon witnessing their exchange. A choked gasp from Inuyasha followed, no matter if he had been aware, not only of the alliance between Sesshomaru and Kikyo for some time now, but of what the nature of their bond had become ever since they had begun searching for the method to save Kohaku's life.
"I… I wanted to return," she admitted. Sesshomaru frowned. "To Kohaku, to Rin… to you. I asked to return…"
She couldn't explain any further before his lips caught hers. Her hand slipped towards the back of his head, fingers sliding across his silver hair, and the passionately beating heart in her chest flooded her with every delightful, blissful emotion that assured her of her humanity, of the success in her strange, mysterious rebirth. She couldn't know what had happened, or how… but his warm breath, his smooth scent, the touch of his hands, the soft friction of their lips, all of it came together to remind her that she was alive… alive, free to live on by his side.
Tears spilled down her cheeks when they parted, as soft laughter left her lips. She pressed her brow to his, delighted to be held closely by his strong embrace: it seemed as though he was as unwilling to let go as she was to pull away…
The land upon which they'd fought against Naraku had been corrupted by his presence, then purified by Kikyo's actions. The beauty in their world suddenly seemed more real than ever before as she gazed around herself, as though seeing everything for what it was, for the very first time…
Rin, Kohaku and Jaken's smiles greeted her as she let her gaze travel across the three of them, sitting right beside them as she languished in Sesshomaru's arms. Both their group and Inuyasha's own had converged at this large tree, underneath which Sesshomaru held her so tightly. Inuyasha and Kagome were the ones standing closest to the tree, while the monk and the demon slayer stood further away, watching over the scene with small smiles: the monk remarked something Kikyo couldn't understand fully, and his companion laughed softly at his words just as the child fox leapt on his shoulder…
Everyone had survived? The Jewel and Naraku were gone. No trace of either of their presences had been left behind… and the world was infinitely better, far more beautiful, for it.
"Lady Kikyo!" Rin exclaimed: she and Kohaku crawled closer towards her once her kiss with Sesshomaru ended.
Even as she turned her head towards the children, Sesshomaru pressed his face to her neck: he breathed her in, so fully focused on her that he seemed not to know or care that he had taken injuries of his own while battling against Naraku. His broken breastplate, the damage upon his tunic… none of it meant anything, for Kikyo lived. It was a new opportunity at life… one where she would finally live for herself rather than to fulfill everyone else's demands and expectations. A life of freedom unlike any she had known before… a life unburdened with the Sacred Jewel's protection, or with Naraku's wretchedness.
"You're alive…" Kohaku smiled between tears, reaching for her hand as Kikyo raised it towards him. "You're alive, Lady Kikyo, I… t-thank you. Thank you. I… I wanted you to live on, and I wanted you to live, too…"
"Kohaku…" Kikyo smiled warmly, squeezing his fingers gently before her gaze drifted towards Rin. Her hand let go of Kohaku so she could caress the child's face delicately. Rin gasped happily upon feeling her warmth, clasping Kikyo's hand with her own.
"You're warm, Lady Kikyo," Rin said, closing her eyes. "Lord Sesshomaru… Lady Kikyo is warm!"
"Indeed she is, Rin," Sesshomaru responded, breathing in one more time as he sat upright, ensuring Kikyo's head would rest comfortably upon his chest.
"The children were safe, Lady Kikyo!" Jaken declared next: he stood between Kohaku and Rin, waving his staff proudly. "Your barrier stood around us until you fell, and by then, I, Jaken…!"
"He screamed and hid behind a rock," Rin giggled. Kikyo's smile warmed as Jaken squeaked, mortified by the girl's declaration.
"W-why you! Don't just spout such nonsense, Rin! I was right there, with you and Kohaku…!"
Kikyo laughed softly, pressing her face against Sesshomaru's collarbone. Their small family had survived the ordeal of Naraku's final battle… they were still here, together, smiling at each other as Jaken reacted explosively to Rin's childish teasing: they lived, and they would continue to do so for many more years, in a peaceful world unlike any they had known before.
Movement to her side revealed that Kohaku was raising something in their direction… Kikyo's eyes focused upon it to find it was Tenseiga, in its proper sheath.
"Your weapon… I picked it up before you woke," Kohaku explained, gazing at Sesshomaru.
Kikyo smiled fondly as Sesshomaru tightened his right arm around her body, using the left to take the weapon wordlessly. Kohaku smiled and bowed his head at Sesshomaru… as the demon lord brought the weapon to rest upon Kikyo's chest.
"Sesshomaru…?" she said, perplexed. He gazed at her as intensely as ever.
"Tenseiga… is our weapon," he said, simply.
Her smile warmed anew, and her hand came to rest upon his own, interlocked upon the blade they had shared. A blade that connected their energies, swirling within it as the ideal balance of spiritual and demonic power that had saved their world.
Kagome let out a happy sigh at the sight of the pair sitting underneath the tree, even if Inuyasha, beside her, twitched with discomfort.
"Inuyasha…" she raised an eyebrow, and he winced, scratching the back of his head.
"I know, I know, I've had time to wrap my head around it, Kagome," he said, grimacing. "But it's still hard to believe that bastard could be with her sometimes, y'know?"
"I'm not sure the Sesshomaru we used to know is… well, the one who's with her right now, if that makes any sense," Kagome said, with a weak smile. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow. "When you first severed his arm, he wanted to seize one of your father's swords against his designs. He wanted to use Tessaiga to destroy, while you chose to use it to protect a human life. Is it really that unreasonable that Tenseiga's potential only unlocked fully when Sesshomaru finally wanted to protect humans from the depths of his heart, rather than over prideful reasons?"
"You mean… he protected those two before to show everyone how powerful he was?" Inuyasha grimaced. "But ever since he met Kikyo…"
"There's a new purity to his heart that… to be frank, I didn't think was possible in someone like him," Kagome giggled, smiling at Inuyasha. "So… maybe this is for the best, isn't it?"
"Well… Naraku is finally gone," Inuyasha said, smiling much more earnestly. "And Kikyo was the one who did it. The one he wronged the most… I guess it's only fair, eh? Even Sesshomaru believed so."
"And now they get to live on together," Kagome smiled brightly. "She's reclaimed her human life… and their future will be even more beautiful now that Naraku is gone."
"All our futures, I think," Inuyasha said, smiling at Kagome as well. She grinned brightly.
"Yes! I always meant to help defeat Naraku, I did, but I have so many things I wanted to do still, like…!" she exclaimed… before her face's emotions froze over suddenly. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow.
"Kagome? What is it?" he asked. She blinked blankly once, then twice…
"I-Inuyasha…" she said, eyeing him warily. "The Jewel is… gone."
"It is."
"And… we can't get it back, can we?"
"Why would you want it back at all?" Inuyasha said, grimacing. "After all the trouble it caused…! I don't even want to be a full demon anymore, so why would you want to…?"
"Inuyasha, I can't go back to my time without the Sacred Jewel!"
It was his turn to freeze, much as everyone else froze when Kagome's so-far placid demeanor changed into her common, temperamental state. Inuyasha's jaw dropped, as Sango, Miroku and Shippo eyed them warily.
"So… does that mean Kagome gets to stay forever?" Shippo asked. Miroku shrugged.
"Oh, goodness…" Sango sighed, smiling weakly as Kagome and Inuyasha seemed moments away from losing their minds to panic.
"W-we have to…! There has to be a way!" Inuyasha squeaked, eyes shifting towards Sesshomaru and Kikyo. He leapt towards them, landing right behind Kohaku: "Kikyo! Sesshomaru! Use Tenseiga to help Kagome return to her time!"
"M-my high school dreams… I was finally about to start high school…!" Kagome whimpered, dropping on her knees as she stared hopelessly at the sky. Inuyasha winced upon hearing her words, gesturing at her again.
"Come on, Sesshomaru…!"
"Be quiet," Sesshomaru responded, curtly, his eyebrows twitching with plain annoyance.
"I can't be quiet! You have a sword that can do anything! K-Kikyo! Please…!"
"Do not speak to her so crudely. She is no servant you can command so callously," Sesshomaru growled: Kikyo, in his arms, couldn't hold back a soft laugh over her lover's harsh response and defense of her against his younger brother.
"Sesshomaru, you…!" Inuyasha growled, raising a fist in the demon lord's direction.
The others seemed to laugh at the silly exchange between the two siblings. Kagome continued to mourn her high school years, even after Kikyo intervened in the argument to promise to look into what Inuyasha was asking of them…
"It's hard to believe that Sesshomaru ever could become… such a family man, I suppose," Miroku said, smiling as he rubbed his palm gently: the disappearance of the wind tunnel still felt like a dream come true, one he wasn't sure he could give full credit to just yet.
"I suppose they do seem to be quite a big family… including Inuyasha and Kagome?" Sango remarked, laughing softly: Miroku and Shippo joined her laughter as Inuyasha rushed towards the disheartened Kagome, urging her to join him in begging Sesshomaru and Kikyo for their aid to resolve her predicament.
In the midst of all the strange rejoicing over Naraku's demise, a small, childish voice spoke to Jaken with undeniable mischief:
"Lord Jaken… do you think Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Kikyo will have more children?"
Jaken winced, and Rin grinned brightly at him. He cleared his throat, flustered visibly as he folded his arms across his chest.
"That… may be within the realm of possibility, but how should I know?! Pesky Rin, Lord Sesshomaru's plans are his, and his alone…!"
"Indeed they are, Jaken," Sesshomaru stated, and Jaken winced: of course he had heard his answer…
Rin giggled again, amused by the imp's flustered reaction. Once more, their small family shared a laugh, even if Sesshomaru hardly seemed amused, as opposed to the others. Kikyo, however, offered him a tender smile that echoed a sentiment he felt, deep in his heart: profound gratitude over the day their paths crossed, and over the peaceful future they had fought for and preserved, for their family's sake.

This might sound weird, but I always wanted to see some even the slightest of brother love between Seshomaru and Inuyasha. I understand both of their feelings and PoV. Seshomaru was not only mad at Inuyasha being half demon, he was more mad , because he felt like his own father cared more about Inuyasha and didn’t like him. Inuyasha was left alone on the cruel world, where neither demons and humans accepted him.
But as story continues, their behavior towards each other change and that’s also why Seshomaru was able to finally have Baksuiga. Because he no longer wanted to have Inuyasha sword. There was never shown that the both of them had even the slightest love for each other as brothers, which i feel like is the biggest waste.
I don’t say that I like to see something as Kohaku&Sango siblings relationship, because this would not just fit those two and that would be so out of character, but I wish they would add something like Inuyasha being put in serious danger and Seshomaru being worried, saving his dumb ass and then explaining it by something like “I only came here to finish this enemy” or something simmilar.
I don’t know if this make any sense, but I wish the author of Inuyasha would make some little brotherhood between them two, but on the other hand I understand why they didn’t do that.
This is not weird at all. I totally understand where you're coming from. I just can't relate, personally.
To me, the side of Sesshomaru that felt like his own father cared more about Inuyasha and didn't really like him was more alluded than properly explored.
I feel like the fandom gives him and Takahashi too much credit when it comes to his redemption arc, which maybe it wouldn't be the case if he wasn't so pretty.
The fact that Seshomaru adopted a little human girl, mastered Baksuiga, no longer wanted to have Inuyasha's sword and saved the Inugang members here and there doesn't mean much on that front when he doesn't actually puts on the effort to rebuild their relationship.
Even though he seems to have learned to somewhat respect Inuyasha and doesn't treat him as badly as he once did by the end of the show, there was still a lot of indifference between them and honestly? They both seemed to be fine with that.
Inuyasha doesn't want nor needs Sesshomaru's love and acceptance because he already got that from the family he found. Sesshomaru is the one who could benefit from making amendments in order to finish his redemption arc, but the story ended in a point where this couldn't be done without it feeling forced and out of character.
Sesshomaru was still low key racist, still thought himself above Inuyasha and still cared more about Rin and respected Kagome more than he did Inuyasha. And even if he had tried to reconect with his brother, it doesn't magically erases the bad stuff he did.
We're talking about a man who abandoned his kid brother to his own luck and used the memory of his dead mother to steal one of the few things his father managed to leave for him. If Sesshomaru had done the bare minimum, Inuyasha's life could have been completely different. Maybe Izayoi could even have lived longer, so there's just too much bad blood that.
Plus, I've said this before and I'll say it again: I actually like that Inuyasha wasn't lead to forgive and forget everything just because Sesshomaru is his biological family. He's entitled to his ressentment. Feeling like he doesn't have to cultivate a relationship with the man who caused him so much pain just because it's completely valid and I wish we saw more of that in media. I find it really refreshing.
That being said, I get why you wish we had gotten more brotherly little interactions between them, especially if you're a Sesshomaru stan. But to me, this itch was perfectly scratched with Inuyasha's interactions with Miroku, Shippo and Sota.
I see the appeal of Sesshomaru's character and a hypothetical relationship with Inuyasha. It just never did anything for me specifically, so in the end of the day I feel like this is something I can go without. You can always turn to fanfiction, though.

Me looking at the angst thing about baby Sora: Oh, oh, dear. How is RIN gonna handle Irene leaving? Because I feel like Irene being with her will have been a great help to her transitioning to village life after Kaede pushed for Sesshomaru to leave Rin in the village. And Rin’s terrified of losing people. Just oh, oh dear.
I wanna say they’d be in the village for about a year before it happens, seeing as Kin’u and Gyokuto are already born, so Rin would already be living with Kaede and learning medicine. She’d have already adjusted fairly well- especially since there are a lot of friendly demons in the village and Toran would have practically taken Rin under her wing since Irene is fond of her.
I think Rin wouldn’t know what’s going on until after Irene has already left to hide with the Wolf Demon Tribe, but once she does she gonna be looking at everyone (mostly Miroku, since he’s the one who planted the bad thought (however unintentional, since it was driven from concern) like they’re idiots.
Rin: “Why would Lord Sesshomaru ever hurt Big Sister? He loves her! Lord Sesshomaru always goes out of his way to take care of her!”
Inuyasha: “Yeah, he likes HER. Not to so much the half-demon growing inside of her right now.”
Rin: “…Wait, Big Sister and Lord Sesshomaru are having a baby!??? WHY WOULD SHE RUN AWAY, LORD SESSHOMARU WOULD BE REALLY HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT THIS.”
Miroku:
Sango:
Shippo:
Inuyasha:
Miroku: “Are we sure the Sesshomaru you’re thinking of is the same Sesshomaru we’re thinking of???”
Rin: “Lord Sesshomaru is much kinder than you know!!! Now where is Big Sister hiding!? Lord Sesshomaru needs to know!”
Inuyasha: “We ain’t tellin’ you squat, kid.”
(Alsjskskks okay now imagine Rin overhears them (probably MirSan) talking about the wolf demons and has Kohaku borrow Kirara so they can find Sesshomaru to let him know where Irene (and Sora) are.)

In your opinion, how to you think Setsuna got her mokomoko? Do you think it may have been apart of Sesshomaru's own mokomoko lol or he had one made for her? I like to think that she is able to make her own or it grew(don't know if its possible though), but was wondering what your thoughts behind the mystery of her mokomoko. Also wondering what your thoughts as to what a mokomoko is in general. Some say it's a live parasite.
Outoftomorrow:      I always figured the mokomoko on Sesshoumaru, Inukimi and the Inu no Taishou were all fur ruffs and part of them. Because they appeared on them in full dog form too-in the same places they are in their humanoid forms.

As for where Setsuna got hers---I haven’t the slightest clue. Clearly it’s NOT a part of her like it is for the other full inu youkai of her family...and I don’t even know why she wears it--seeing as she knows so very little about her father, or general family anyway.     Perhaps Kohaku gave her an actual boa--in honor of her father, since he traveled with Sesshoumaru and Rin for a while...?       Anyway--those are my thoughts on the mokomoko.
