From early on in DeSantis’s governorship, it was apparent that here was someone who took extreme pleasure in malice and cruelty. In him, the political is personal. Which is to say he has no politics beyond the reach of his shadow, neither care nor imagination nor interest. Here was someone who had witnessed and approved force-feeding at Guantánamo. He told asylum seekers there was something waiting for them, and flew them to the middle of nowhere (he alone had the pleasure of knowing it was the playground of the enemy, Martha’s Vineyard). He took funds away from schools that, against his wishes, kept mask regulations in force. He sacked a public prosecutor in Tampa who said he wouldn’t criminalise abortion, and another in Orange County who refused to turn a blind eye to police crimes. He fired a data scientist who collated coronavirus statistics. He seems to have special antennae attuned to the category ‘small opposition’. And these individuals – librarians! – he goes after with his thunderbolts, with the astonishing array of state power. Not bad for a party that claims to want to drown it in a bathtub.

First of all, I wish they would stop calling the Republican bigots, racists and haters “conservatives”.  A group of lame-ass, neo-fascist, white supremacists wave the Nazi flag outside Disney World along side a flag supporting Rhonda Santis but right wing-nuts and “conservative” Republicans throw a hissy over the Pride Flag at the White House.
These self-righteous, bigoted, racist, hypocritical haters need to pay attention to their own lives, do something positive and constructive, knock off the overblown, drama queen hysteria and shut the fuck up about everyone else.
Florida has become magnet for the people - Trumpsters, Fake Christians, Fake Patriots and Republicans - who thrive on the lies and bullshit from the LyinKing and the DoucheBag. Energized by hate, bigotry, racism (and meth) and ruining Florida for everyone else.   They thrive on the lies and bullshit from the DoucheBag DickTater who - like Trump - will use you on his way to get what he wants, then denies he ever heard of you, then insults you, dumps you and scrapes you off like shit on his shoe.  .

HI JD. Please give us an update as to how you and yours are fairing after the devastating hurricane Ian. It is heartbreaking seeing all the damage done to Florida and my prayers go out to all effected. I hope you are in a good situation and that our area was spared the worst. If you have some time, please let us, all your fans and followers, know that you are o.k. Bless.
It was incredibly devasting!
We were outside at our carport at the beginning checking it out. Our group yelled holy shit as we watched people's roofs and pink insulation fly above. Then suddenly, a carport roof landed and rapped itself to my metal upside patio table, which slammed against the carport for hours!
We tried to walk out onto the street, but we got slammed by cold salt water.
My neighbor and I witness a home lose its roof and fall to pieces. It imploded! Ken and I tried to save the man's big-screen TV, but we were pelted by debris going at least 50 miles an hour. I went inside after that one.
The men were getting drunk, yelling at the storm gods as homes fell apart around us. That was the front end of the storm, then the eye came (insert scary music). I was yelling get in the house, goobers! I was desperately closing windows when it came through.
Holy moly, it came through so strong we couldn't see the house next door, and you could feel the walls shaking. At the time, your trying to get hold of God, but his line was busy answering other requests.
Trees snapped in half, and power lines went down left and right.
We no longer had any means of communication.
The water was off. Thank god I made Lee gets 5-gallon buckets of water out of the pool to flush the toilets. It was disgusting! Irma, the water was on but not Ian for days! When they got the water back on, you had to boil it. You could shower, but don't swallow the water! What the hell.
If you have been reading the blog, I kept saying, Be prepared! We were with gas, solar generators, and propane. Two weeks without electricity, close to a month without cable and cell phone. We had rabbit ears for the TV and a hand crank radio.
Now comes the good part, America came through! We are so grateful to everyone who traveled to help us. They provided food, water, essentials, and gas for generators.
Even corporate stepped up. @walmart, @tyson, @elonmusk, @jimmiejohns, @redcross, and others.
Thank you, thank you, god bless America and the best governor on the planet, @RonDeSantis. Our barrier islands lost bridges, and this hero made them to within a week to Pine Island and to Sanibel within two weeks. We are coming back! #southwestfloridastrong
Our hearts are with the families who lost loved ones.
Love JD, and thanks for asking. 💋🤟🏻
PS: I'm breathing, and nerve damage and pain

Former President Donald Trump is set for two campaign stops in Iowa today. He'll first address Trump team volunteers at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Maquoketa at 11 am ET (10 am CT), followed by a public campaign rally at the Grand River Center in Dubuque at 4 pm ET (3 pm CT). Trump's increased presence in Iowa is part of a strategy to maintain his lead in the state and potentially undermine Ron DeSantis, a key rival, ahead of larger contests. Trump is aiming to solidify his position as the favorite in Iowa, as reflected in current poll numbers.

Florida übt Zensur und Überwachung
Five years in prison for reading banned books

Important to remember going into pride month - corporations want your money, but all the rainbows in the world doesn’t mean they care about your right to exist. @walgreens @draftkings @pepsi @att @anheuserbusch @zillow @amazon all donated to Florida’s shameful #DontSayGay Bill. Stop rainbow-washing hate and corporate greed, and remember that lgbtqia freedom comes from trans activists like #MarshaPJohnson, #SylviaRivera and #StorméDelarverie. From @staleypr, Larry Kramer, Vito Russo, Didier Lestrade and all the organizers from #ActUp back when Reagan was doing nothing about the AIDS epidemic. This year as much as any, our Pride should be about standing up and fighting back against the people trying to deny our existence. I definitely have privilege as a bi white woman in a hetero-passing marriage, but I’ll always stand with the LGBTQ+ community. #lgbtqia #lgbt #lgbtrights #lgbtqrights #gayrightsarehumanrights #humanrights #corporations #florida #rondesantis #bigotry #homophobia #transphobia #pride #pridemonth #respectexistenceorexpectresistance #nocorporationsatpride #gayrights #lgbtrightsarehumanrights #standupfightback https://www.instagram.com/p/CeHKELku8qO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

In this thought-provoking episode of "The Political Education For Freedom" podcast entitled "America in Racist: Unmasking the Legacy of Exclusion," host Nitra takes listeners deep within the often unspoken chapters of American history. The episode is part of a journey into the past as it reveals the origins and consequences of the systemic racism buried deep in policies and practices within the nation. From the Militia Act of 1792, whose provisions explicitly exempted anyone but “free able-bodied white male citizens” from military service, to the segregationist policies of the 20th century, Nitra shows how racial exclusion and discrimination have been sewn into the very fabric of American society. The episode puts a lot of historical context behind these policies, showing how easily they were not oversights, but actually things set up that way to move the country forward. Nitra humanizes the story, coupling these historical policies to real people whose lives were affected by it. She investigates individual and community personal challenges and triumphs in the face of structurally provided systems that kept them on the margins of society, thus illustrating the actual human toll of these exclusions. The episode also grapples with the thorny legacy of American presidents and elected officials ranging from Thomas Jefferson to Woodrow Wilson, whose policies and statements were reflective of their times' racial prejudices. Nitra never flinches from hard truths as even how some reputed leaders contributed towards the perpetuation of race inequality is explored. "America in Racist" is more than the expository piece of history but an exploration into the emotional and human awakenings brought about by racism in America. It's a call towards acknowledgment of, and understanding of that painful part of the nation's history, learn from it, and with these knowledge at heart forge a way toward a more inclusive and equitable future. Come along with Nitra in this enlightening episode as she peels back the layers of America's racist past and invites us all to reflect, feel empathy, and join the ongoing conversation about race, history, and justice.

Where Did It All Go Wrong for Ron DeSantis?
Tumblr media
Where Did It Start Going Wrong? Ron DeSantis, once hailed as "Trump 2.0," faced challenges in the 2024 election. Explore the turning points and unravel the reasons behind his unexpected exit.
Trump's Unwavering Support
DeSantis struggled against the formidable presence of Donald Trump, whose steadfast backing posed a significant hurdle. Trump's dominance in the political landscape created an uphill battle for DeSantis. https://twitter.com/RonDeSantis/status/1749159384112845285
Campaign Timing
A delayed official campaign launch gave Trump the opportunity to rebuild his image, overshadowing DeSantis's momentum. The late start and ineffective responses left the Florida governor at a disadvantage.
Navigating Trump's Legal Issues
While hoping for Trump's legal troubles to sway voters, DeSantis chose not to criticize his rival. Trump's ability to turn legal challenges into a "rally around the chief" effect further impacted DeSantis's chances.
Strategic Missteps
DeSantis's focus on culture wars, rather than key economic issues, left him out of touch with voters' concerns. Trump's domination in the Republican field required a more strategic approach, exposing DeSantis's limitations.
Personality Pitfalls
DeSantis's perceived lack of charisma and awkward interactions with voters became glaring weaknesses. His robotic personality struggled to resonate, especially in key states like Iowa and New Hampshire.
Hope in Iowa
Despite challenges, DeSantis secured second place in Iowa, briefly rekindling hope. Supporters believed he could be the alternative to Trump, but this momentum proved short-lived.
The Decision to Suspend
Realizing the challenges ahead, DeSantis suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump, avoiding potential damage to his standing with Trump's loyal followers. At 45, he looks toward the future, with supporters eyeing 2028. In the end, the question remains: where did it all go wrong for Ron DeSantis in the intricate landscape of the 2024 US election?
