So in the new Tales of the TMNT trailer, we see a scene of the boys all dressed up in costumes.
Tumblr media
My theory is that this is TOTTMNT’s Halloween episode. And with the boys attending high school and knowing how Seth Rogen wants to focus more on the “Teenage” part of their name, I’m gonna assume they are on their way to a Halloween costume party.
The trailer also kinda hints that this episode will focus on Raph cause this shot is about Raph with Mikey making a comment about him being aggressive and earlier showing another clip from that scene with Raph talking about he wants to beat someone up (showing that rage problem he has), probably wanting to go out and fight some bad guys rather than go to a lame party.
Tumblr media
Now this MIGHT be a massive stretch… but going with the theory that this episode is about Raph and his brothers going to a costume party (possibly on Halloween), and looking back at the 1987 series, there was also an episode where Raph attended a costume party.
And who did he meet at this costume party?
MONA LISA!

@midwesternvibes 's rottmnt villain leo au will never fail to haunt my brain so, hark! I bringeth tidings of fanfic!
I was really curious what it would take to drive Leo so apart from his family, so I tried to write it in a way that from right to me. This one really challenged me, so I hope yall like it!
To be clear, I feel like this would take place like before Leo is a villain. When the possibility it just. There.
TW: child abuse/emotional abuse, panic attacks/flashbacks, crying, murder, suicidal thoughts, ptsd
The anger started- well, no. It didn't really have a definitive start or finish. A collection of moments Leo could look back on and think, maybe this was it. Maybe this is when it all began, maybe this was when it gained momentum, maybe this was the point of no return.
And again, even the single moments he could pick out always had other ones tangled around them. Leo took the fall for, well, everything. Not that his brothers never got in trouble but, well, if the dish broke it was Leo who broke it. If an argument started it was Leo who crossed the line. If the chores weren't done then it was Leo's turn, even if it wasn't everyone else said it was and Dad believed them. Looking back, it was an easy thing to blame Leo. He was already labeled trouble, what was a little more?
The trouble stuck with him like his stripes, like yeah there was a mask there but come on dude, we can both see them peeking out the edges. Leo wasn't to be trusted. Leo was easy to blame. Leo was trouble.
“Why would you do that??”
“It was one mistake, Raph!” Raph seemed too flabbergasted to speak, only gesturing at the burning building behind him. So yeah, Leo had started an eensy-teensy little fire. He'd gotten everybody out!
Leo's mistakes were big. There were few, but they were big, and no one wanted to let him forget it.
“This is just like that time you broke the TV!” Mikey giggled as he brushed the plate shards into a dust pan. At least he didn't seem mad. Leo tilted his head at him,
“Uh, you broke that.”
“Did not!” Mikey protested.
“We were playing basketball and you tried to throw it to me!”
“You didn't catch it!” Leo felt his fingers twitch, wanting to flex, maybe a tic he picked up from Donnie. Frustrated. Angry. A start.
Leo couldn't remember what happened next, really. They got interrupted by some other brotherly shenanigan. It was just. Well. Leo loved Mikey. He shouldn't be mad! You weren't supposed to get mad at the people you loved, right? Right?
“Leonardo!” Yikes, full name treatment. Leo jumped, scrambling on 7 year old legs. “You did not help Red cook dinner!?”
“Uh..” Leo peered behind the looming figure of his Dad, where Raph was half hugging a sniffling Mikey with a bandage on his finger. “..no?”
“Your brother got hurt!” Oh, that made sense. Mikey was still learning. He had been clammering Raph for a chance to help in the kitchen, that's why Leo didn't today. But he couldn't say that because Splinter had that- that look. That clenched jaw that scared Leo more than anything. Dad didn't hit them, usually, not really. Maybe a small fwip behind the head if they were very bad, a sandal thrown by if they said something out of line. It wasn't that, really. Dad didn't like to do that, sometimes he even apologized for it. Usually to Donnie and Mikey, but whatever. But it wasn't that.
It was more the glaring, the teasing, the yelling, oh when Dad yelled at him Leo could do nothing but shake. It was his brothers watching. It was his brothers watching when it was Mikey who had thrown that basketball so it hit the TV, the TV Donnie was fixing as Dad screamed. Leo shook, he set his jaw and blinked and he didn't cry, he didn't cry. Leo wouldn't start crying. He didn't start. A start.
Once, when April came over after a fun mission, she did this announcer thing, where she gave everyone an intro as they entered the room. Leo was up to go last. Turned out he wouldn't go at all. And them everyone went to bed.
It overshadowed those little papers Leo kept in the drawer of his bedside. Notes and doodles and things his brothers had said to him, happy things. Like the time Donnie said he loved Leo, not “I love you guys”, he said “I love you”, just to Leo. The time Mikey made his favorite pizza because he was sad. A big hug from Raph, paper airplanes with good messages from April. That bedside table got crushed when the lair was, well, shredded, and Leo sat on his knees, seiza, picking up as many as he could before his brothers caught up.
“Come on, Leo.”
“Gimme a second.” He heard Raph shift impatiently,
“You're taking so long.”
“Can't rush perfection.” He could feel Raph's eye roll.
“You know bein’ down here makes Don upset.” Sure, this was about Donnie. Leo shoved a few more into his pouch.
“It's not a party for me either.”
“This isn't about you!” Raph snapped, and Leo felt like a scrap of paper as he trembled in the wind. That was the first time Raph had said it to him. The first time. The start.
On one of those scraps of paper was a time when his Dad lectured him, and Leo shook and he didn't cry and Dad sort of faded out and watched him. Leo stared at the floor next to Dad's feet, waiting to be told to bring his eyes up, waiting for the, “Look at me when I'm talking to you!”, but it didn't come. Dad just. Looked at him. Looked at him for longer than he might have ever before. Splinter never looked at him when Leo was talking. Or when he wasn't, really. Not really.
“...go to your room.” He said, and Leo just about ran. In his room, he was allowed to cry. Well, there was no rule against crying, not one written or said, but Leo could feel the pressure when he did it, eyes and expectations on his skin, and so he didn't cry. Except now he started to. Now he sobbed. He jumped at the knock at the door. He'd never heard that knock before. Mikey did the one from Frozen, knock knock kno-knock knock!, and Raph would bang twice, Knock! Knock!, and Donnie did morse code, something different every time. This was a simple knock, a tentative, knock knock knock against the door frame. Leo didn't answer, maybe couldn't. The curtain rippled as Splinter entered. He had a plate in his hand. He watched as Leo scrubbed his eyes before placing the plate, a plate of fruit, on the bedside. Then again, he watched. Stared.
Leo wanted a hug.
It wouldn't fix anything, and there was something inside of himself screaming, no! He didn't need it! He wouldn't mean it anyway! And maybe he wouldn't. But soft fur, warmth around him, a gentle hand against the dip of his shell. Splinter had this lullaby he would sing to a fussy Mikey, a sick Donnie, a sleepy Raph on the couch. Leo wanted to hear it. He wanted it so bad.
He and Splinter stared at each other. And then his father left the room. Leo ate the fruit. Oranges and strawberries.
He didn't write all of that. He wrote, “Dad cut fruit for me.” And that was all. That was all.
And then
And then there was the Krang.
Leo was a lot of things. He was a hero, he was a martyr, he was a brother, he was a son, he was dead, maybe, somewhere, and he was hurting and he was trouble.
His family loved him. They opened that portal for him, so they loved him. But Mikey loved Draxum too, because he was family. So yeah, his family loved him. They wouldn't be the same without him. But did they like him?
Dad avoided him for a while. So did Raph. They were mad at him, Leo thought, for starting this whole mess. Mikey was a whole mess. He cried a lot, happy and sad, and Donnie sat on the medbay chair, not spinning like he usually did, just sitting. No one would give Leo a straight answer about anything. Eggshells. Sometimes, everything got too much and darkness closed in and Leo lost control. Raph would help, when that happened, but when that happened Leo wasn't Leo, he was just scared and he didn't think, he only flinched away from the red and green above him. Raph started to cry. They all looked at him. Leo looked back. He couldn't speak. They looked away. A start, or maybe a finish, because Leo hadn't expected anything more.
Dad sang that lullaby to him.
That he didn't see coming. He was alone, still in the medbay, still still still, and his thoughts were pulling at his skin and dragging him down. Leo couldn't move. He couldn't speak. He couldn't talk. Small, clawed feet padded closer. Leo shook.
Stroking fingers on his forehead, a quiet hum, smooth Japanese, and Leo got everything he had been asking for.
It wasn't enough for him to calm down, no, not nearly, so after a while, a blessed, blessed while, Dad left, and Donnie appeared. He counted his breaths orderly, fingers flexing because he wanted to leave and get back to work. He was anxious. Leo couldn't help but catch it, his breathing ok but he couldn't stop shaking. Donnie didn't know what to do. He asked something and Leo nodded and then they left him alone. His breath began to catch. A beginning, a start. An end.
All alone. It was funny, how he felt that phrase with his whole soul. There was no one for miles. His chest was an empty bell. Leo swung his legs over the edge of the skyscraper. It was funny, when he tried to die, they didn't leave him alone for days.
It wasn't that he wanted to, it was just.
He wanted to know what they'd think, just a little. Maybe this could finally prove that they need him, just a bit. But Leo was all alone.
He shook it off. He was 16 years old, and he didn't want to die. He was 16 years old, and he had to start for home now if he wanted to get back before anyone noticed he left. Had to start for home. He had to start.
So naturally he sat right there and stared at the skyline.
They sent April after him, when he kept missing calls. He watched the text messages roll in, telling him that breakfast was ready, that they had training in an hour, that he better be back by tonight for patrol. That he was worrying them. His heart rate was steady, according to Donnie, but he was worrying them.
April was dropped off by a Genius Built something or other, Leo didn't turn around to check. She stepped forward and, oddly enough, stayed quiet as she sat next to him. She watched the city with him, rustling and bustling below, and then she bumped their shoulders together, arm against arm, and Leo was shaking and and and
He couldn't cry. He couldn't start. April pressed warm against his arm and she stayed there until his breaths were even, his face still dry.
He might have written that down on a scrap of paper, if he did that anymore. Maybe he should start, he thought, laying staring staring at the ceiling. His room was sound proof, but he could feel them talking about him. That was the only reason he was still alone. Probably. Maybe. It was just.
It was just.
Leo felt everything. It was like 16 years of feelings had all slammed together into a knotted mess in his chest. There was probably some logic to that, if he were to ask Mikey about it. Something about the connection between recent traumatic events and coping skills. He didn't care. Leo just curled up on his bed and imagined he was drifting. He imagined he was somewhere else.
When Leo was little, when he was trouble, more then usual, he would imagine he was a scrappy kid on a forgotten planet with lore only he knew. He pick pocketed Jupiter Jim, which was bad, but Jim saw he was just hungry and desperate and decided to take him with them. Red Fox was hesitant, but by the end of their adventure she trusted him completely. Which sucked because Leo was a spy for the planet leader the whole time. What was he supposed to do? There was something about Leo that was just fundamentally different then Red Fox and Jim. Why fight that?
But whenever Leo got that far he started getting tired, so he mentally skipped his redemption arc and right to the dramatic moment, where he was told everything would be ok. And 7 year old Leo fell asleep imagining he was held.
He stopped when he got older, well aware that self-insert JJ fanfiction, however G rated it may be, was still pretty weird. Leo was pretty weird. Yeah, his whole family was, but Leo was different from them, another category, walls and subway tracks between them.
It all came down to Leo wanting to be as close to his family as possible, but never actually succeeding. So he just ran away.
Maybe he could just. Run away.
It would be easy enough, right? With his portal swords and everything.
Run away. A fresh start.
Leo stared at the wall. He had some money from picking up shifts at Run of the Mill, but knowing his family he couldn't just go back there, so he would have to find a different job. Donnie had access to the whole city at the press of a button, so he would have to move out of New York. Maybe somewhere in the Hidden City, out of his families reach. Maybe-
Knock knock knock.
Tentative. He knew that knock.
“Blue? Your brothers say it is time for your patrol.” Right, that. What was he doing, getting all wrapped up in maybes? He wasn't running away. This was just a phase, he just had to wait out all of his tangled emotions and then everything would go back to how it used to.
“Coming!” He called, tieing on his mask. He straightened it in the mirror, pulling it a little wider to hide more of his stripes. His phone was dead, so he left it charging by his bed, snatched up his katanas and stepping into the hall.
Raph was mad-worried, Leo could smell it, literally and figuratively. April must have told him something. Leo would have to balance on his tightrope of being obnoxious enough to not cause worry, but not too much, or he would earn a lecture for missing the training he himself had scheduled. There may be a couple snide comments eitherway, but Leo would smile from his spot 50 feet in the air, dancing, daring.
But before he could leave, his father had looked at him.
“Have a good time, Blue,” He said. And then, “I love you.”
Oh.
Leo could have gone through at least 300 different memories, at least 600, at least 1000. Every moment of wanting and wishing and now he was here. And now.
Leo looked at his Dad, at Splinter. He looked at the super-star turned rat, celebrity turned father, and he just.
“Bye, Dad.” Leo said, and he didn't cry. He turned on his heel and he walked.
…it felt kind of good that he was the one walking this time. A kind of good he didn't want to think about.
Hypno and Warren.
Months ago, that wouldn't have sent a shudder up his spine. Months ago, that wouldn't make the room go cold and his heart started to thud. But months ago, Hypno and Warren hadn't made the biggest mistakes of their lives. And months ago, the simmering mass, the start in Leo's chest wasn't hell bent on proving it.
His brothers did their usual banter, if a little strained from nerves, but the two villains were as mediocre as ever.
The three of them kept trying to catch his eye, concerned because Leo wasn't talking. He didn't really know why. You'd think they'd like it better this way. Even Warren was making comments. Why should he have to pretend around them, anyway? Joke and smile to what, make them feel better? Leo loved his family, he loved them with all of his heart, but his chest was on fire and today he just. He couldn't.
And then Mikey went down.
It was just a sprained ankle. Just a sprained ankle. But Mikey yelped in pain and his eyes shone and he was about to start crying. About to start. Raph's eyes went white. Donnie bared his teeth. And Leo.
Leo.
He didn't really think about it too hard. Not really. He just opened a portal. Just a small one, right around Hypnos torso. He spoke, voice a little stilted, a little to the left,
“Will you grow back too?” Hypno looked at him with round eyes. Warren began to stutter, something high and pleading, but Leo couldn't hear.
“Let him go!” Raph commanded. Why did he care? These were the ones who started it all, who stole the key in the first place, who was Raph to protect them? Leo's brother had the worst kind of savior complex.
“Nardo, what are you doing?” Donnie asked. He already knew, he asked anyway. Wasn't he supposed to be the logical one? Emotional bad-boy? What a joke.
Hypno would cause nothing but danger for his family. Nothing but trouble. Why did they care?
“Leo.” Mikey said, soft. He met Leo's gaze, fierce, “Let him go, please. I'm alright.” Oh.
Oh no, no, what was he doing?
“Step out.” He whispered. Hypno scrambled away. Leo let the portal snap close.
Oh no, no no no no.
What was he
“Leo?”
Hate him. He had to go. Had to start.
Leo slashed in front of himself, stepping through without a second thought.
Maybe he should have just
No, no, don't think like that.
Maybe
Leo stumbled, landing heavily on the ground. He pressed his palms into the pavement, cement leaving indents into his skin, cold and damp. Grit coated itself on his knees, tremors working through them in waves.
No, no, no.
Maybe
He should have
Stop.
But he couldn't slow his thoughts, ringing through his bones like a bell.
He should have done it.
Maybe this was the point of no return, the end, it was over. Regret curling in his gut, a photo in his pocket that he didn't spare a glance. It hitched in his chest, and Leo felt his face grow hot. Burning eyes, burning burning, tears.
A start.

After Draxum had injected him with the ooze, there was only so much time Lou Jitsu.. no, Splinter had left. To escape, to grab the turtles and each one was in a different capsule. Splinter was weak, he didn’t have time, and had barely broken into the fourth’s when Draxum burst into his lab. Lights were flashing red, everything was so loud. Draxum was quick to block off the last cage, that held the fifth child, the final turtle. Splinter didn’t want to leave you. He hurt everyday knowing your fate was in the hands of the lunatic named Draxum. And yet he had hope, that someday, you would finally be reunited with your brothers. But they weren’t ready, none of them were. Splinter was too old now, he had run out of time. It would be up to them, Splinter decided, when they finally showed him they were ready, and capable of facing you. Because Splinter knew that whatever you had turned into, it would be something completely different than his sons. A powerful mutant under the influence of the mad scientist and manipulator, Draxum.
。・゜・(pov change: you)・゜・。
[the present]
You knelt before your creator. “I’ve got a mission for you,” you kept your head bowed, knowing the consequences of looking up too soon. You had been on the receiving end of many ‘lessons’ and you were too old to be beaten for anything other than failure. And that was something that only happened on rare occasion. “Get rid of the pests that keep interfering with my work.” Draxum sounded irritated. It was unusual, he normally didn’t seem phased by anything, and if he had a tone it was arrogant and full of smug confidence. “Yes Draxum,” you rose to your full height. Looking up into those cold, calculating eyes that had raised you. “Don’t disappoint me.” If you fail I will squeeze your shell until another crack forms. You could read between the lines, hear the underlying threat. “I won’t.” you muttered as you turned your back on him, leaving the Hidden City, going into the human realm. New York City is a real piece of work and that’s putting it politely, you thought as you emerged into an alleyway. The smell of trash flooding your senses. “Alright fellow turtles, prepare for your demise..”
。・゜・( pov change: everyone )・゜・。
“This is greatttt,” Leo said sarcastically. Waving his ōdachi around making little portals. He was utterly bored. “Sometimes Leo, heroes have to wait for crime to happen,” Raph was leaning down over the edge of the rooftop looking down at the streets below. “In any case, isn’t that a good thing! No crime means no bad guys,” Mikey said rocking back on his heels, nonexistent eyebrows waggling at Leo. His older brother rolled his eyes, “then what are we here for let’s go back to the lair!”
“Hold on I’m picking up something,” Donnie said looking down at his wrist tech. Leo waited a whole 5 seconds before complaining, “yeah a whole bunch of nothing!” Raph shot a look at Leo, telling him to shut up silently, the blue turtle only stuck out his tongue. “Bingo!” Donnie’s wrist tech flared up in a flash of color, “What was that Leo?? A bunch of what??” He goaded his twin, smiling smugly. “Let’s hear it Don,” Raph prompted not wanting to waste anymore time. “Two streets away, northwest, someone’s breaking into-“ “Bla, bla, bla time to goooo!” Leo cut Donnie off and waved his sword into a big circle. “Oh no no no, it’s only two streets awayyyyy~!” Donnie yelled out as they all fell into Leon’s portal.
“That was fun,” Donnie grumped, while Mikey snickered. The portal had put them 7 streets away from their target, and effectively ruining any sort of hero work that night. “Look if I don’t practice how am I gonna get better at it,” Leo said thinking he was being pretty logical. “How about practice before an actual patrol? Huh? Ever thought about that my dumb dumb of a brother?” Leo peered over at Mikey and started mimicking Donnie’s voice. Mikey had to hold in his laughter, hand slapping over his mouth loudly. “Enough you two,” Raph chided, “it’s already over with let’s just get back to the lair, we’ll try again tomorrow.” When Leo grabbed for his sword this time, Raph stopped him, shaking his head, “practice on your own time like Donnie said,”
“Tch,” was the only reply Leo could come up with. He wanted to say something like, you guys are just jealous my power is ten times awesome-er than everyone’s combined. But he held himself back, somehow, someway. Who was he kidding, “you guys are ju-“
Something whizzed past Leo’s face connecting into Mikey’s and slamming him back and onto the ground he skidded a couple of feet before coming to a stop. “OW!” Mikey groaned as his brothers came running, a collective “Mikey!” yelled out in worry. They formed a circle around the youngest, “What the fuck was that?!” Raph said as he looked around for any signs, any clues to what had just pummeled his little brother. “Felt like a fist to me,” Mikey coughed as Donnie knelt down over him, making sure he was okay and then helping him up. Leo was on guard too, “why don’t you pick on someone your own size!” he barked out. “You saw it??” Raph said still searching, only giving Leo a glance. “No but I’m guessing whatever it was chose Mikey for a reason,” Leo explained, eyes narrowing in on a billboard.
Raph nodded his head and they were off, both jumping up and weapons drawn for anything that was on the other side. “Huh, nothing,” Leo commented as Raph huffed in frustration. The moment they had left Mikey’s side, Donnie had a matter of milliseconds before he was thrown back on his shell. The air being knocked straight out of his lungs as Mikey’s eyes widened and yelled for his brothers as he threw out his mystic kusari-fundo hoping to wrap whatever it was that kept throwing them to the ground. But as the chain wrapped around its target Mikey hadn’t been prepared to be jolted forward at such speed, he was practically half-dragged, half-flying after whatever he had caught. “GUYS,” he screamed in panic as he zoomed forward, leaving his brothers in the dust as they called out for him to let go. But Mikey didn’t listen and when he finally landed on a rooftop, somehow on his feet, he was tense, and more than a little scared to be facing whatever this was without his brothers.
You looked down at the chains wrapped around your torso. Bright orange, your shell facing your opponent not worried in the slightest. “I see you’ve stolen something,” you commented and Mikey just held onto his weapon tighter. “Borrowed actually,” he corrected- a turtle?! Mikey blinked and his grip loosened immediately. He saw the state of your shell, his stomach rolled, his own shell tightened as if he could feel your pain. You felt the slack and turned only your face. Black bandana waving in the wind. “You” Mikey said stunned, “you’re like us!” He couldn’t help it, a smile of recognition replaced his frightened features. You scowled, not returning the sentiment. One second you were yards away from Mikey and the next you were throwing him onto the rooftop again. He cried out in pain, “I’m nothing like you.” And even though he was hurt, his innocence was too pure to be shot down. “But you’ve got a shell, and a bandana,” he groaned out as he forced himself up. Noticing you had released yourself from his binds the moment you had him on the ground.
“Get away from our brother,” Raph hollered as he came down as a huge red figure of power. You side stepped, letting the cement feel his wrath instead. So the orange wasn’t the only one who stole. A purple drill came next, you jumped into the air it missed your feet by centimeters as you came back down, your eyes widened in surprise for the first time this fight, as you didn’t touch the ground but went through a blue circle. Suddenly blue was all you could see, and you activated your power, a black shadow surrounding your body and time slowed, you watched as the portal ended and the blue one was ready and waiting with a sword held out. You landed with grace, crouching immediately but you didn’t need to, while in your power form you were faster than all of them combined. You kicked the blue straight in the groin, feeling somewhat irritated that he had gotten the best of you for a split second. He went down as you continued to move, not wanting to be caught off guard again, you went back to normal form after you put two rooftops in between you and the four.
It was a stare off. All but the Red had felt how powerful just your fists and feet were. It was his turn, and then you would destroy them completely. “What do you want!” Raph roared, angry that he hadn’t been able to protect his little brothers. “Nothing from you,” you let your voice be carried by the wind. Unable to find such passion like the Red one, no one but Draxum could make you howl like he just had. In fear and anger, in anguish and pain. You took a step forward, all but the Red flinched. You found that quite funny. “Then just leave us alone,” Raph begged, standing over Mikey and Leo while Donnie stood a little staggered next to him. “I’m afraid I can’t do that,” you said taking another step forward. Why were you wasting time like this? Answering his buffoon questions, for what? You gritted your teeth from your own condescending thoughts. “Why?!” The red exasperated. “Because,” you glared reaching for the sole tantō (short sword) behind your shell. You only unsheathed it when necessary, but all these questions were grating your nerves, “I was ordered to.” And maybe that was what pissed you off the most. As you lunged forward eyes seething with pitch black rage.
Raph braced himself calling onto his power to create a shield from the shadow that was hurtling towards him faster than anything he had ever seen. He tried to keep his eyes open, but at the last second he flinched closing them tightly hoping his shield would hold. “Boys?” Splinter said in confusion. They had all just been saved by Leo’s well-timed portal and if it wasn’t for the near death experience he would have boasted about it proudly. Raph fell back on his haunches, his weapons dropping limply from his hands. Mikey was the first to recover, “Dad you’ll never guess what just happened!” Bruised everywhere he exclaimed, “we met another turtle!” “Met?” Donnie shook his head, “that Michael, was not a meeting, that was a blindside!” He had to hold his side wincing when he raised his voice.
Splinter fell back into his recliner. “So you finally crossed paths,” it had been a weak whisper. Silence stretched on after that as Splinter relived that haunting night. Where time hadn’t been on his side, not enough to save everyone. “What do you mean dad?” Raph asked, breaking the silence. “The night I rescued you all and myself from Draxum’s lab, I hadn’t saved everyone that night,” his voice sounded far away. The brothers all looked at each other, shock and confusion written on their faces. “Are you saying, that we just met our sibling out there tonight?” Donnie expounded, eyes bugging out. Splinter nodded. Another collective silence. “Well, they wanna kill us,” Leo put plainly, trying to get up. “No they don’t!” Mikey said defensively. All three of his brothers turned on him with crazed expressions. “I’m serious! You heard them, they were ordered to come after us!” Mikey had his hands out as if it were obvious. Splinter kept silent, Leo looked doubtful, while Raph and Donnie both shook their heads.
“It doesn’t matter Mikey, if Leo hadn’t portaled us outta there, we would’ve been turtle soup.” Raph said, and he wasn’t joking. “Yeah but, maybe if we talked to them, showed them that Draxum isn’t their real family, then maybe-“ Mikey was cut off by Donnie, “No. Mikey listen to yourself! You wanna go back out there after three of us got pummeled and Raph was about to get sliced?!” Mikey’s cheeks puffed out in frustration, they weren’t listening to him. “…maybe Mikey’s right,” Leo pipped up looking at his little brother. “What if one of us had been left behind?” Splinter winced. Leo paused, continuing after awhile, “shouldn’t we at least try?” Donnie scoffed, “try what exactly, reason with the trained killer of a psychopath who wants us dead?!” Mikey nodded. Raph blew out a long breath. “Not anytime soon,” he said giving in, he couldn’t help it, looking at it the way Leo had put it. He’d try. “Once we are healed a hundred percent and Leo practices his portals more… then we can try talking,” Donnie glared at them all. “If this backfires I don’t care if it’s my last dying breath, I’m saying I told you so,” with that he was off to his lab. Mikey smiled to himself, hoping this would work, that you would listen, and see that they were your real family.
After Raph’s orders were carried out, all of them healed up to the max, and Leo did practice on his portaling, it was time. “So how’re we gonna find them??” Mikey questioned as they all exited the manhole, Raph the last out and covering it up. “The Hidden City,” Raph said, since they knew who was behind your strings aka Draxum. “Righttt,” Mikey agreed. “We’re breaking into Draxum’s,” Donnie explained further for his little brother to catch up to speed. They all knew he had zoned out when the plan was being discussed, Mikey was too excited. Which had all of his older brothers worried for the impending disappointment they all expected. “Alright, breaking into Draxy’s,” Mikey said rubbing his hands together in mischief, finally up to speed.
They went the same route they had came when April had been with them. It seemed like they were always trying to rescue someone from here, first Mayhem, now you. All the turtles peered down into what had been an exploded lab last they left it. Now it was fully refurbished and off to the side you came into view.
Horror. Raph tried reaching for Mikey to cover his eyes, but it was too late. He had seen, your limbs were spread far apart, vines wrapped tightly around your wrists and ankles. But what held all of the turtles stares was the thick vines that were in a vice-like grip around you torso, around your shell. Draxum appeared from a doorway. “Not tight enough?” He commented as your head hung to the floor, but as the grip tightened around your shell you gasped, head lurching up once more. This had been going on for days, ever since you had returned, since you had failed. “Why are you being punished,” Draxum questioned as you panted in pain, it was getting to the point where you would pass out. “ANSWER ME” his voice raised in authority and anger, “I-“ the vines tightened again and you finally screamed out in agony. New streams of tears flooded down your cheeks. “Say it.” He seethed, “I f-failed you,” you sobbed. Head falling in front of your body unable to keep it raised any longer. “You are pathetic and weak. You expect me to believe those pests outsmarted you?” He spat in disgust. “They had mystic weapons,” you tried to explain, you hadn’t realized how vital the blue one could be for escape. You were paying for it now. “Excuses,” Draxum shook his head, “I gave you a mystic weapon, I trained you and this is the result I get?” Your head was swimming in pain, it was becoming hard to breath and you knew what was coming next, the sound haunted you in your sleep. Crack! “Please!” You begged, knowing it was useless because you had been through this before, “I’ll do better, I’ll get them next time just give me one more chance!” You’d say anything, promise anything if it meant you could save yourself from the living nightmare you were experiencing.
An fiery orange chained whipped out of nowhere and snagged Draxum up and off the ground. “Leave them alone!” He cried out, tears pouring down his own face as he yanked his weapon backwards, continuing to pull Draxum away from you. Raph’s fist was three times its size, and punched the sheep yokai, slamming him to the floor of his lab. Donnie and Leo were quickly cutting away at the vines that held you hostage. Leo catching you before you fell to the ground. “Let’s go!” Leo called out as Donnie positioned himself defensively, his mystic tech aimed at Draxum’s figure that was still on the ground. He turned and faced the turtles he had created, his face pure fury, “Y/N!” He bellowed and that was the last thing you remembered before you slipped into unconsciousness.
[one week later]
“They should be waking up any moment now,” a not so familiar voice said informatively. “But when exactly??” someone whined. “They’ve been through a lot just give them time,” someone else chided. “Look” another voice said, and as your eyes moved underneath your eyelids, listening intently and very much awake, you realized they must’ve noticed you were up. “Hello?” you squinted open one eyelid, and orange was so close you could see down to his esophagus. “Mikey, give ‘em some space!” red said exasperated as if he had said it a million times already. “What did I tell you guys, any moment!” purple said as a matter-of-factly. “We get ittt,” sighed blue. All of them had curious eyes on you, the red had one weapon drawn, and purple had a finger hovering over a button. Blue had his arms crossed and orange was still in your face. “We saved you!” He explained, “from Draxum’s crazy” “psycho” “sadistic” “ass.” They all had a word for your creator. And they all seemed to be waiting for you to say something or do something. You slowly opened up both eyes, “please back away orange,” you phrased it as nicely as possible but the frown on his face couldn’t be missed. “Told ya,” Raph chuckled, silently putting away his weapon. “So how old are you?” “And what kind of turtle are you?” “What’s your mystic power exactly?” “Are you hungry?” Mikey pitched in last, recovering from your first sentence to him. It seemed to be the only question you would acknowledge as you nodded slightly. The rest looked at one another, with wary expressions. “Where am I?” you decided it was better to be the one who asked the questions. “In-“ a hand slapped over Mikey’s mouth. “Why don’t you go get them some pizza?” Raph said. “Oh right! Be right back!” He said bouncing away. The three older ones sighed in unison. “Look Y/n,” you blinked no one but Draxum had ever used your name. “You’ve gotta answer our questions first,” the red one claimed.
You wondered if you were fully recovered. Because if so, you’d rather just leave than have to sit through an interrogation like this. You could feel the unwelcomeness roll off these three. But as you did a mental check, you knew you would have trouble using your power and making a speedy escape. So you sighed, admitting defeat nonverbally. “I am 13 years old, a diamondback terrapin, and to put it shortly speed,” Donnie went to say he wanted the longer more detailed version because he obviously had gotten that. But Raph stopped him. You were Mikey’s age. Raph couldn’t believe it, how polar opposite the two of you were, and it crushed him to think how Mikey might have been in your place. “I see,” Raph murmured. “Now my turn?” You asked, prompting for an answer to your earlier question. “We’re in the sewers!” Mikey answered coming back into the room. Leo face palmed himself. “What?!” Mikey exclaimed, “they deserve to know!” and he handed you a plate stacked high with slices of pizza.
“Well I guess we’ve got a lot of catching up to do,” you gave Mikey an inquisitive glance as you stuffed your face. You hadn’t eaten in what felt like ages. Raph and Mikey both smiled at the sight of you eating heartily. “Because we’re family!” Mikey explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. And that had you swallowing, you looked around the room, these four were your brothers? “Draxum never told you?” Donnie asked quietly, and all you could do was shake your head. You kept looking all around, like suddenly everyone in the room looked different looked more familiar. And you hadn’t realized it when one tear streaked down your face. “Family?” You echoed. Draxum had never used familial terms between the two of you. He was your creator and you were his creation. Black and white, plain and simple. You always believed you were on your own. The thought of a family, it was too good to be true. “Yeah!” Mikey cried, the instant he saw the tear go down your cheek. And space bubbles be damned! He leapt on top of you hugging you close, “you’re our family!” Mikey said and the rest of the gang piled in, more tears were shed, even from Donnie. It was a miracle you thought, and maybe finally you could be happy, here with your family.

I cannot for the life of me decide on which of the three routes to go with for my rottmnt future au “Love and War”
Like there’s the OG plan where Donnie is Krangifed and Cass ends up having to kill him as he kills her and I love it because that scene would be so gut wrenching! And then in the last moments of life Donnie would come back to himself as his life flashes before his eyes and they die in each others arms, able to have just one last moment to love each other. I adore it and it’s so beautifully angsty.
But then there’s the second option I came up with later where instead of being Krangifed the Krang want to use Donnie for his brain but at this point the turtles have built up very good mental walls and they can’t get through them like they did Raph’s in the movie. Him being completely uncooperative they decide to throw him in the Prison Dimension for the time being while they wait to figure out a way to break through his mind or he goes insane and his walls crumble that way. Later Cass is on a mission to get the key and fails to do so, resulting in her ending up in the PD when a Krang (not sure which yet) shoves her in, only saying to say hello to her little friend and they hope he hasn’t lost his mind yet for her sake. Donnie has gone feral from his time in there but Cass is able to snap him out of it eventually even if he never really loses all of that savage aspect of him. Because of *insert PD hcs and random thoughts* they’re in there when present Leo is and play a hand in saving him and escape with him so Casey gets both parents back in the end after thinking both were dead for years.
The last one is Donnie still being Krangifed but he and Cass don’t kill each other like in the first one so they’re both alive when Casey is sent through the portal. A moment after he is Donnie comes in and tackles both accidentally sending them through the portal and because of the time that passes between Casey going in and them, no matter how brief, they get spit out a few weeks after the invasion and Casey and the present gang go to see what the random mystic energy surge was only to find an old Leo and Cass fighting and trying to subdue or kill a frankly terrifying looking Donnie. Maybe it’s a tranquilizer shot by present Dee or something else but F!Don is knocked out and they keep him under containment after that to see if they can cure him. Because he’s no longer flooded with the thoughts and orders of the future Krang hive mind and the one that exists in the present is so quiet and weak Don’s consciousness is able to actually fight back again and he occasionally has moments where he successfully breaks through for a moment to say something to his family. They can’t release him however because he’s still very much not cured. They do find a way to cure him eventually thanks to Draxum but it’s a very painful procedure where they basically burn the parasites, and consequently him, alive to get rid of them. It’s a gamble on if he’d live or not but it’s that or nothing and Cass refuses to let him live like this for any longer even at the risk of killing him. He wouldn’t want that and they all know it. They do it and he does live but it’s a long road to recovery and he’s never the same of course but really none of them are after all the trauma and at least they’re together again.
In the second and third options F!Don would find away to bring back all his brothers and April too. In the first everyone stays dead for simplicity’s sake.
They all have such good angst potential and I love them but I just can’t decide!!

Last of us, rottmnt
Part 1/? (Finally)
The year is 2041, and the infested are becoming a much more common thing. Even if the Krang failed to fully take over, the damage they've done can never be reversed. It feels like there's no longer a safe place in this world for anyone, humans, mutants, yokai, anyone.
Donatello is out looking for anything that could be useful to the resistance, If he can even manage to make it back to them, he had hopes of finding some old Krang tech. As Donatello was scavenging around he heard some yelling and someone was getting shoved into something, Donatello was already in a bad mood and this just made it worse, he held onto his tech bō, and went to check it out.
He saw some people harassing a kid around the age of 12 - 13, and Donatello stepped in. “Scoff, degenerates, harassing a child.” He said, his voice deep and monotone. The people who were harassing this child immediately run off at the sight of Donatello, I mean, he is a giant mutant turtle, so I can't really blame them. “Oh, well, that was much more effective than I thought it would be.” He said before he nodded to the child who was looking up at him in awe.
“My work here is done now, goodbye child.” Donatello said as he went to walk away, but then the child clung onto his jacket, he cringed at the thought of the child sticky fingers on his nice purple jacket. “W- wait! You can't leave! I still need your help!” The child said, sounding nervous.
“Sigh, fine, fine, what do you need, small human?” Donatello said as he gently ushered the child off him. “I need your help finding m- my dad. He's a mutant turtle like you!” the child said as he looks up at Donatello with big sad puppy dog eyes, the child almost looked like a wet cat in a way, small and gross but cute and you feel you need to help it.
Donatello didn't seem to think too much about it until the child mentioned his father being a mutant turtle, he immediately thinks of his brothers, he has been the resistance for quite some time… It is possible that one of his brothers took in the kid. “Your father is a mutant turtle..? So I take it that you were adopted by him?” Donatello questioned, and the child nodded. “Yes, He took me in after my mama… she..” The child shaked his head, trying to stop himself from crying. “After she passed… Can you help me?” The child asked softly, Donatello thought about it for a moment but nodded.
“Okay, small thing. I will help you. But tell me your name, at least.” Donatello said as he crouched down to the child's height. “I'm Casey, Casey Jr. Jones.” The child, Casey, said with a smile before he asked, “And what should I call you?”Donatello pauses for a moment before he answers “Well my name is Donatello. You may call me Donnie ….or Uncle Donnie if you must.” He said, and Casey Attempted to give him a hug but Donatello allowed them but didn't really hug him back, instead he gave him a hesitant pet on the head.
“Uncle Donnie… Yup! that sounds right!” Casey said with a chuckle and Donatello rolled his eyes but couldn't help but allow a small smile on his face.“Well, enough of this, we better start moving, I have an idea of who you're talking about and where they possibly might be, and we don't want to lose light.” Donatello said and Casey nodded, and they started to head off on their journey.

This is a bit of a strange ask, but I'm still confused over Usagi's last name. Some tell me that is Miyamoto his last name and that Usagi is his first name... but then others tell me that Usagi is the family name 😂
Just wanted to ask.
hi
Gelu. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this ask. I have been preparing for this very moment. I'm ready to answer this and I already know I'm going to fail miserably at explaining. Here goes.
Usagi Yojimbo. In the comics, "Miyamoto" is the surname / family name, we know this because his father is Magistrate Miyamoto. This makes our titular character Usagi, his first name.
Usagi Chronicles. In this animated series, we know that Yuichi is descended from Miyamoto. However, his name isn't "Miyamoto Yuichi", Yuichi is in fact his surname / family name. That means they both share the same first name, Usagi.
In Japanese fashion, the family name comes BEFORE the first / given name. Let's take George Washington for example. To do so properly, it would be "Washington George". So if we see "Miyamoto Usagi" and "Yuichi Usagi", that means their last names are in front of their first names. If you watch any Japanese shows or movies, they introduce themselves with their last name first and given name after, and people will call them by their last name. In TMNT 2003, he specifically introduces himself (and we will ignore the poor pronunciation of Japanese words including his own name) as "Usagi Miyamoto". This is so that the Western audience knows Usagi is his first name, Miyamoto last. (Also told the audience his last name was Miya-ma-to but uh. We're ignoring it, right?) This is not the proper way for him to introduce himself if he were being strictly Japanese… we say it's fine because it was for an English audience at the time, but this is the only time (that I can recall) his name being introduced in this way.
Typically in Japanese fashion, when you first meet someone or are on acquainted terms, you would only refer to them by their last name and add "-san" to the end, until you become closer and can use a different honorific or use their given name. However, all of the Usagi series have been adapted for western consumption, so they use their first names in all of this familiar media. The western version of "formal" or "polite" in a Japanese setting is taking the first name and adding "-san" to the end instead. So in 2003, Usagi calls Leo "Leonardo-san", and Leo calls him "Usagi-san" back. In 2012, the same thing. When you meet someone who is older than you in the west, you would usually say "Mr./Mrs./Mx. Lastname". That is the English equivalent of what "-san" is, loosely. I'm not sure why western media wants to flip names and add -san to it anyway, since we do use last names sometimes? Mr. Obama… Miyamoto-san. We can also chalk this up to relationships, as Leo and Usagi have been close in every iteration, perhaps they just went to the "first-name-basis" immediately. (copium)
I don't know if you've noticed, but there are a lot of Usagis! Even just 2 is too many, and I have 4! (Well, one was married in, but still.) In my case, I wanted to be able to have multiple samurai rabbits out in the world of Rise, but I couldn't have them all named "Usagi" unless that was all their last name-- which meant they all also had to be directly or indirectly related to each other. Which posed other problems, like… what about Magistrate Miyamoto?? Well.. he's still related, just differently. I know some important plot points get washed out when you move characters and their specific roles around, but that's exactly what ROTTMNT does, and excels in. So we do some problem solving, we write every idea down, and then we iron out the edges.
I am not an expert in the naming culture of Japan, though I can understand why people might be confused or spread misinformation as though they are correct. It takes just a little bit of reading and context to understand, which I hope I've been able to provide. TBH I still get confused, but that's because I am actively doing it differently by going against what it normally is.
TL;DR - Usagi is the first name in all published media, with Miyamoto and Yuichi both being family names. The proper way to introduce oneself in Japanese is [Last Name] [Given Name], which Miyamoto Usagi and Yuichi Usagi both follow this rule (and are both Japanese). In my fanon, I have too many Usagis in one time period, so Usagi is the family name and everyone can still keep their original name. Hope this helps!

{ROTTMNT Fanfic} - Insomnia
Tumblr media
(This Fanfic was inspired by @dovelydraws with their wonderful fanart they made of Rottmnt. Please go show them some support on their account!!)
( WARNING : This is not Turtle x Turtle related at all, this is purely just some family scenarios with no relationships at all what’s so ever. Just regular day in the life turtle stuff)
Leo would never admit it to anyone that he was starting to get Insomnia. His usual joyful and sarcastic self would never tell anyone about his sleepless nights he had been having. Ever since the fight with Draxum and Big Mama at her hotel about the ooze-squitos. He hasn’t been able to sleep at least a couple of hours. He could pin point why he wasn’t having any luck on one thing that came to mind every time he thought about it. Him falling from a skyscraper that had at least around 52 floors or more. He would say it could be PTSD, but he chose not to think about it and just ignored it for the time being. Pushing everything to the side in order to make it through the day with out being questioned over and over by his family. The turtle in blue would say the last time he had a decent sleep was last week or maybe the week before. The fight took place on what he thought was Tuesday. So 9 days he hasn’t been able to catch a few Z’s in order to function properly. It was getting to the egotistical turtle a lot, taking a toll on how he acted and functioned during the day. His reflexes a lot slower then normal and barely any comebacks and puns left his mouth as the days went by. Yet he couldn’t tell his brothers what was going on with him, feeling as though he would just be bothering them at this point. But the looks they give him during the day make him realize that they are on to him more then he thought.
Leonardo walked out of his bedroom, covering his mouth as he let out a small yawn before returning to the front area. His brothers had just woken up at their regular times of the day. At least from what he thought since he could hear some of their voices in different rooms when he first decided to leave his dark room. Yet here he was not a wink of sleep, walking out like a zombie that rises fresh from the grave. Did he want to make a joke about himself, yeah, but he had to keep his personal issues a secret. At this point in time he was sure his brother’s had noticed a change in his body and the way he has looked. It was one of the things the turtle in blue didn’t want to deal with or talk about at the moment. He just wanted a calm day, maybe by himself if he was feeling up to it. As the laid back turtle walked in to the kitchen area his brother glanced at him in confusion. Mikey quickly glanced around the corner to make sure Leo was in there before going to his brothers in Donnie’s lab. As he walked in they both gave him the same look he thought they would give him before he fully entered.
“What’s up with Leo guys, he looks so tired and sad all of a sudden....do you think something happen to him?” Mikey asked as he hugged himself thinking about how he has been looking the past couple of days. He’s been wanting to ask him about it for a while now, but knowing Leo he would just tell him he’s fine and brush it off. Leo has always never really wanted to talk about his true feelings with things. They were all almost used to that aspect of him by now from previous times. But the state his brother was in was starting to worry Mikey greatly. He would do anything for his brother to make sure he was okay. The youngest of the three turtles glanced to the oldest for answers, watching his tense and anxious nature was not helping him at all.
“I don’t know but he keeps stealing my coffee in the morning and it’s starting to annoy me. That’s one of the main things that keeps me going and not having all of it is taking me down a notch” Donnie replied as he turned in his chair to face his younger brother standing behind him. The words that left his mouth seemed like he was more annoyed hen worried at the moment. Even though they were very serious about their brother’s condition and state of mind. Taking note on his worried face he had at the moment like it was a surprise to him. Donnie wouldn’t admit it but he has noticed his brother’s sudden change in behavior lately. His usual annoying self has died down a bit which he would say was good. But it was so weird not hearing his sarcastic come backs and his puns he always says through out the day. He also didn’t want to admit it but he did kind of miss his sarcastic attitude he had in certain situations. Realizing this is what it would have been like if he made his gift to him permanent. He wasn’t even sure if he wanted things to be like that now that he got a small taste of this attitude.
“Do you think something is bothering him?”
“Of course there is Raph other wise why would he look like a zombie coming out of his room every morning the past couple of days then?”
“Nightmares?”
“I don’t think Nardo would get that scared of nightmares like you and Mikey do when you both have them” Donnie replied, a frustrated sigh followed as he rested his head on his palm. Not wanting to continue his sentence in worry that his brother’s would get offended by his words, which they would have. But his main thought was trying to think of a possible way his brother could be acting so different then normal. He felt as though he would be the only one to find out why especially with his scientific skills on board. The overly smart turtle over heard his older brother sigh as he glanced out of the lab. Watching their brother in need walk out of the kitchen with a coffee cup and a cookie in his hand for his so called breakfast. You could smell how strong the coffee was from where they were standing. Raph couldn’t unseen the look on his brother’s face, the tired, emotionless look he was giving like he was in thought all of the time. This wasn’t the Leo he knew no, there was defiantly something up with him and he was desperate to know what. He was supposed to know what was wrong and how to make things better. He was the older brother, this was his responsibility to know what was up. He felt like he was failing him in some way not officially knowing what was making him sad.
“I should just go and ask him-”
“No you’ll just annoy him by asking him Raph, I’ll handle this alright just give me some time.” Donnie replied as he turned back around to work on his bow staff. The simple taps of his foot hitting the ground showed he was in thought at the moment. Raphael bit his bottom lip as his brow knitted together. It didn’t look like he was trying to figure out what was wrong with their brother at all. It almost looked like he didn’t care that much if he was being quite honest. Maybe this was just Donnie’s version of tough love that he gave. But Raphael wasn’t having any of it, he needed to know what was up and now before things got worse. The eldest of the turtle’s in the room started to walk out. His gaze turned to Mikey who was following right behind him. Already knowing what his older brother was up to and wanted to help out like always. The duo of the lighter colored masked turtles made their way out of Donnie’s lab as quickly as they could. Making it to a point where they could actually speak to each other in private of their other brother’s in their home.
“What are we gonna do now Raph....what if Leo says nothing to us?” Mikey asked suddenly, doubting his skills to help his brother in need. Raph was honestly thinking the same thing at the moment. But he knew he couldn’t tell his younger brother he had the same doubts in mind. He needed to stay positive about this whole thing and hope for the best out come.
“Well we aren’t going to force him in to doing anything....we just need to make sure that he is alright....if he doesn’t want to tell us what is going on then he doesn’t have to if he isn’t comfortable enough.” Raphael replied, watching the ends of Mikey’s lips curl in to a small warming smile. The leader in red wasn’t to sure about his own skills in comforting his brother at the moment either. But he needed to try, he has vented to Leo in the past about some problems of his. So he needs to make sure he knows that he is there for him too. The turtle in red sighed slightly, covering his mouth with the end of his fist as he stood there in thought. Thinking of the best way for him to go in there and ask him what was up. His overthinking nature was taking over his mind at the moment, making him unsure of everything. Raph soon stopped himself, clearing his throat before walking over where his brother’s room was. His steps were quiet as he walking carefully over. Noticing the light was off that he usual turned on when he woke up. Raph’s gaze went back toward his little brother behind him. Getting a quick thumbs up with a small grin that followed for good luck. His hand raised and returned the gesture before walking in after knocking on the side of the cement in the doorway.
“Hey Leo what are you doing?” Raph asked calmly like any other normal day of the week. Watching Leo set his comic book down he seemed to reread over and over every once and a while. He took note on the look on his face, the bags underneath his eyes. Not to mention how slow he was really moving. The turtle in blue stretched slightly, hearing a small pop of his back before shrugging ever so slightly as a reply. Raphael soon walked in after, feeling like he was sort of welcomed in by his brother. The end of Leo’s bed sunk due to his weight being on the end compared to Leo’s in the middle. The awkward silence was very unsettling as they sat in the dark bedroom next to each other. Something neither of them were used to with their quite loud family they have.
“Nothing” Was the soft reply that was heard coming out of Leo’s mouth. His expressions were slow and his excitement was minimal then what his normal range was. Raph’s eyes darted around the room for something to talk about, feeling as though he shouldn’t get straight to the point of why he came in to his room.
“D-Did you need something? Wanting a training partner like you said yesterday?” Leo asked to try and lighten the mood. Faking acting like he was himself when Raph could see right through his brother’s charade. Raphael leaned forward and rested his hand on Leo’s shoulder. The laid back turtle glanced up in to his brother’s eyes questionably. Already bracing himself for the questions to come once he saw the worried look in his eyes. His gazed went to the side and found his much younger brother in the doorway as well. Acting as if he wasn’t there and Leo couldn’t see him. But right now he needed to pay attention to what his older brother was saying.
“Are you okay?”
“Define okay.....I think I’m fine why?”
“Like overthinking? Sleeping issues? Nightmares at all?”
“Why are you asking?”
“Leo don’t deny it, we have seen you coming out of your room the past few days looking like you haven’t slept at all. It’s starting to worry us even if you don’t see that. I’m speaking for all of us at the moment” Raphael replied as he moved closer to his brother on the bed. Taking note of his expression of thought he had at the moment. The turtle in blue was trying his best to make up an excuse, a lie of some sort to make it seem like he was fine. But the truth was screaming to be let out of him, hoping they could help him in some way. This whole no sleep act was getting to him in more ways then he could count. He couldn’t take this annoying pain away no matter how hard he tried, he just always seemed to wake himself up. Leo’s eyes darted around the room, finally locking with Raph’s as he stared down at him. He would never be able to lie to his face even if he tried. The turtle in blue bounced his leg out of anxiety, running his hand behind his head all the way down to his neck nervously.
A sigh left Leo’s lips as he leaned forward and rested his forehead on his brother’s muscular arm. Giving up on trying to lie to his brother trying to help him. Raph happily wrapped his arm around him to comfort his brother in need. Watching his eyes stare out at the wall as they screamed for help but no words came out of his mouth. This was his plead to him he felt almost with how quiet he got.
“Did you sleep at all last night?” Raph asked Leo in his arms, feeling him shake his head calmly and slowly up against him. This concerned Raphael greatly once he learned of that. He bit his bottom lip slightly as he glanced back at Mikey standing there nervously. His eyes went back down to his brother sitting there up against him. Things were now tying up together from what Raph assumed before hand.
“How long has it been since you have actually slept bro.....please be honest with me here?” The older brother in red asked calmly in a soothing tone. Hearing a small sigh as Leo shrugged his shoulder’s slightly in return. Worrying Raph even more so then before hand.
“I don’t remember the last time I had a really nice sleep if I’m being quite honest Raphie” Leo replied with a warn out grin on his face to hide away the pain. Raphael’s brow knitted together as he thought about what he had said more and more. Not being able to understand why his brother was suddenly having bad sleeping issues. Leonardo was one of the main turtles that got good sleep being as though he complained when not getting his usual hours when he woke up to early. Why hasn’t he even told him about this before hand, Leo was one to speak his mind about something he thought was off. He spoke his mind about Big Mama and here she was a villain after all.
“Why haven’t you been able to sleep.....is there something wrong? Something keeping you up at night Leo?” Raph asked softly, watching Leo’s eyes squint as he tried to think of something. Raphael waited patiently for him to answer, watching his expressions change as he rested against him. The turtle in red couldn’t really pin point anything on his bad sleeping issues at all. Not knowing what was bothering him made his heart ache, he should know after all. The guilt was rising in him that he didn’t know and wasn’t there for his brother when this first started to happen. Feeling idiotic for not realizing sooner and acting sooner then this.
“I-I don’t really know if I’m being quite honest..... the only thing I can really think of is when I was thrown off that roof top back when we were fighting Draxum on Big Mama’s hotel building....nothing comes to mind besides that moment and it’s the only thing that ties up to when I started not being able to sleep I think....I’m not sure other then that.” Leo replied as he glanced up at Raph in front of him. Raphael’s eyes widened in realization as he recalled that night clear as day. Draxum held him over the roof top and asked Raph either his brother or the bugs. Raph was sure he was bluffing, being that he thought every villain does. But once he saw his brother was thrown off the roof as soon as he said no to giving him the bugs. He dropped the jar of ooze-suitos immediately to go and save him. It was close he would admit and he wasn’t sure how he activated his powers. But he saved his brother from falling at the last second and made sure he was okay before they made it back to the others. He hadn’t even realized that fall had caused his brother trauma secretly. He had just assumed since they have been up on the roof tops for ages that he would have been used to the fall and the height. Raph’s eyes darted back down to Leo sitting there with his tired look. His arm keeping him up on the bed soon wrapped around his shell and pulled him in closer.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t see this before bro, I should have noticed this sooner then I did and maybe we could have helped you earlier then this....maybe I could have acted faster then I did back then and saved you quicker”
“no no Raph it’s not your fault bro come on, it’s okay....I’m okay....i forgive you if that’s what you want to hear....but it’s not your fault”
“I am really sorry though Leo....truly I am”
“Yeah we’re so sorry Leo” They both heard Mikey say from the door way with a guilty look on his face. Leo smiled softly as he held his hand out, motioning for him to come on to the bed. Which Mikey immediately did so and joined in on the group hug as soon as he could. For once Leo actually felt safe, he felt all the anxiety go away from him in their arms that held him tight. Comfortable like nothing could touch him like the times when they were little.
“It’s alright guys....I-I’m fine really....I just need to get this under control”
“Well we are here for you bro no matter what, we’ll always be here if you need us” Mikey replied lovingly as he hugged Leo tighter, making the laid back turtle chuckle softly.
“Well....we could try sleeping medication now that we have found the route of what has caused you such trauma and stress lately. Getting that off of your chest is the first step and if things don’t go back to normal sleeping medication is the next answer for now” The three turtles on the bed glanced toward the door way and found Donnie standing there propped up against the side. Arms crossed as he gazed inside with a small worried look on his face he hoped they couldn’t see. This was the “I try to cover up my worry” look as Leo likes to call it. The turtle in blue smiled softly at him as a thanks, not even daring to move away from his brothers holding him. He didn’t even notice sleep taking him over slowly as he sat there with him.
“Sounds like a plan then D” Leo replied with a small yawn, resting his head back against Raph’s arm tiredly. His eyes slowly shutting as a result of the lack of sleep he has been getting. Raph only smiled as he held a finger to his lips at his two other younger brothers in the room.
“Looks like we’re gonna have a day off today then guys” Raph soon said as he heard the small snores coming from his brother in blue in his arms at the moment. Realizing comfort was one of the things the turtle needed all along to help him get some shut eye. The eldest turtle slowly moved up against the wall in order to rest. Having Leo moved on to his plastron and Mikey right beside him. Noticing Mikey was falling slowly asleep too as he spoke. Raph’s eyes darted over toward Donnie walking in to the room slowly. His hands carefully grabbed a hold of the somewhat folded blanket on the edge of the bed sheets. For someone so loud in their lab he was moving extra carefully and quietly to not wake Leo up.
“His body has probably given up on the resistance of sleep due to the lack of it this whole time.....It seems like you both have helped him by comforting him” Donnie said as he carefully laid the blanket over his overly exhausted brother sleeping up against Raph. Noticing Mikey’s falling asleep as well.
“Do you want to join too D? I know you stayed up til 3 last night so don’t play games with me.”
“Well I do have some projects I would like to work on....but I am running low on sleep too soooo...” Donnie replied as he looked down upon them on the bed. Noticing Raph smirking since he knew what his answer was going to be. Donnie sighed as he took a step on to the bed and laid up against Raph’s other side. Taking his battle shell off since he wasn’t gong anywhere before laying down comfortably up against him as well. The turtle in red smiled softly to himself as he stared up at Leo’s ceiling. Getting nostalgia from when they were younger since this was how they used to sleep some days. The turtle in red’s eyes slowly started to shut. Glad that he could help his brother in need when he could at that Leo was finally getting some sleep.

A ROTTMNT Fanfiction: The Lucky One Chapter 1
Word Count: 4137
Summary: Leo has never considered himself to be unlucky, but when meets a young rabbit samurai wielding a bokken he wonders if luck is all its cracked up to be
Pairings: Whats zero times zero? MORE ZERO
[1]“Are you Miyamoto Usagi?”
Those were the first words Katsuichi had ever said to him. At the time he had been a small child just shy of five years and half drowned by a rain storm determined to finish him off. The tree he had found refuge under was barely doing its job of keeping him somewhat dry. The storm had drove him to seek out shelter after a puddle, one that had failed to drown him had taken his sandal as collateral.
Truth be told a wiser person wold of turned back, even a stupider person would of decided to go back. But there was nothing left for him back in the village. Except for his fathers grave and the pitying eyes of well meaning villagers.
Truth be told, any one fo them would of taken him in and he was sure he’d have a happy life with them.
But to be thought of as a burden, even as young as he was, was unbearable.
That was the reason he didn’t answer immediately. He thought maybe one of the villagers had sent the man after him, but at the moment he was too tired to lie. All he could do was nod before pulling his knees under his chin o help preserve some warmth
“There’s a lot of people worried about you little one.”
“I’m not going back.” Usagi had been sure of that just as he had been sure he’d never have a say in the matter. His numb body and spirit had nothing left in him.
There was a shuffling coming from the samurai in front of him,  but rather then drag him away by his ears, the samurai settled by his side ,sitting with his back to the tree. Curiosity got the better of Usagi and he finally glanced to the stranger.
He had seen samurai before, his father had been one, but none like this. A tall lion with long red hair and matching beard that barely gives room for his eyes and mouth, wearing a for black silk kimono and a dark blue happi. Both were finer then any clothing he had ever seen but well cared for.
For a moment the two sat in silence, with nothing but the rain to fill the silence. Then the samurai spoke “I am sorry about your father. When I received word of his passing,, I cam as quick as I could.”
At the time Usagi could only look at the lion samurai in confusion, he was sure he hand known all his fathers friends, “how did you know him?”
“I  knew him from many years ago, . I made a promise that if anything happened to him I would look after you.”
“I don’t want another father. I liked the one I had.”
“As you should. You are a faithful son. You will be my student. Nothing more nothing less.”
Usagi looked down to the ground. The rain had continued its onslaught since the samurai had joined him, and at this point it almost seemed like the world was drowning.
What chance did he have other wise?
What choice did he have?
Taking his silence as a answer ,the samurai  rose to his feet and Usagi with him. If he had known how far they’d be walking, he would of gone back for his sandal. But he kept silent. Through years of training, of living in isolation, and everything he kept silent.
He would never allow himself to become a burden

Ten years later
“Alright, you two, what are the rules?”
Leo rolled his eyes, “I don’t know, ask Don he was listening.” He could hear Hueso grinding his teeth together but couldn’t be bothered to look up from Miscord, “Right D?” His brother was now giving him the same unamused look but he made sure to give him a smile before looking back to his phone, “Right?”
“Yeah.”Don looked back to Hueso,” The rules are: Don’t’ leave Hueso’s side, don’t annoy Hueso, don’t’ say anything to anyone but Hueso. And don’t let Leo talk to anyone even Hueso.”
That brought him back, “What?! Hey!” Leo glared at the skeleton, “I don’t remember that one.”
“You didn’t remember any of them that’s the point.” Hueso jabbed a finer in his face,’ You didn’t even remember your portal sword. That I told you explicitly to bring”
Leo puffed up his cheeks before crossing his arms, trying to ignore Donnie smirking at him , “Look I just wont talk to anyone.” He clearly lied, Ok, so he had left his sword implanted in Dad’s armchair, it wasn’t’ because  it was huge, bulky and tired of carrying it around (who could be sick of carrying around a giant portal sword that was almost bigger then most of his friends)but for other reasons that he didn’t have to justify to anyone, “I didn’t know we’d be going to the Mystic City! You’re the ones who supposed to have those toppings! I figured the most dangerous thing we’d be doing is
“It is not my fault my restaurant ran out of those toppings hours ago and the only way to get more is front the market. And almost every time you go anywhere in the Mystic City you end up being chased by a mob.”
“I thought Karlos picked up your groceries from the Market?” Donnie asked from disinterest, “and wait on tables, and deliver food.”
“I need to get that kid a raise.” Hueso said to himself, “And apparently he’s got a weird form of rabies and tetanus  so he’s taking some time off. That is why if you REALLY want those toppings wer can only get them here, in the Mystic City Farmers Market. Now I will ask you two this ONCE. Is this all worth the hassle?”
Leo glanced at his brother, and this time Donnie actually made eye contact, albeit nervous eye contact , with him. Making a quick agreement  as Don held his phone up higher and switching over to Raph’s number. Leo ducked in closer to be in the video lens. “Um, Mabye its better to show you?” Don gave him clear ‘the hell are you thinking?!’ Look before rolling his eyes back at him and pulling up his phone and pressing on Raph’s number, their brothers phone only rang for a moment before Raph’s desperate face filled the screen, “Don thank god where are you?! Do you have the toppings!? Are you outside!? Are you coming in!? Are you calling to tell me you’re in the kitchen and you’re about the bring it out?!”
‘Heeeyyy buddy.”  Leo squished his face by Don’s so he could be in frame, “Just want to check in on you, hows our sick wittle brover?”
Raph’s face, which had been young and full of hope a week earlier fell further (Leo noted a plate going flying behind his head, “just checking in?!” Are you crazy?! Do you know what happens when I turn my back on Mikey-“ Raph gave a shriek and dropped the phone, in the background Leo could hear him yelling,” JUST PLAY DEAD POPS! MIKEY PUT THE FRIDGE DOWN!”  It took several seconds before Raph came back into view, judging by the wood behind Leo guessed he had crawled under a table, “Listen to me right NOW. Mikey’s already taken Dad hostage and is dominating the living room. He’s trying to conquer the kitchen next and I don’t know how much longer I can hold him off! My barricade isn’t  going to hold off forever!”
“Michelangelo is about as intimidating as a wet kitten,” Hueso paused, “Wait, he threw the fridge-“
Raph gave another shriek before he disappeared from sight followed by a dead tone.  Don put his phone away, “That’s why we need the toppings. Mikey has had a stomach flu all week and hasn’t been able to eat anything other then gluten free dry granola bars. If we don’t give him what he wants, he’s probably going to end up a orphan and a only child.”
Hueso pinched his brow taking a few steps away cursing in Spanish. Leo could only catch a few snippets, of what he was saying but he was pretty sure Hueso was cursing him out. He couldn’t help but sigh and drop his head on Don’s shoulder watching the Yokai passing by with disinterest. He had heard Hueso mention the Mystic City Farmers Market a few times, normally with scorn and a complaint about “the price of Basilisk Cheese” or something. Hueso finally straightedges, out brushed his hands down the front of his suit and turned to look at them with a deep breath,”alright, but again follow my rules, don’t annoy me and we’ll be out before blood worm hour in the Pizza Restaurant.”
Leo wasn’t sure he wanted to know what ‘blood worm’ hour was all about. But Hueso  was already walking into the crowd, (“don’t wander off!” Hueso yelled)  He gave his brother a shove on his battle shell to keep in him front , “Hey D?” He started, “I know I already asked you this, but are you going to be ok? If you can handle this I’ll just go with Hueso alone.”
“I’m not letting you go alone,I just.” Don took a deep meditative breath pressing his palms together, “We could of avoided this whole thing if we had just left the Lair on time.”
“I know, I’m sorry.” He could admit fault sometimes. He just did always like doing it, “We’ll do this as quick as possible. In, out, and I’ll make it up to you I promise. I’ll buy you...” Leo though for a moment, bribery really was the best wa to deal with a stressed Don, “Three Jupiter Jim comics of your choosing.”
Don gave him a long look, and for a sec Leo though this brother was too off with him to take his offer but Don sighed, ‘It’s fine I have my noise cancelling headphones, now immune to mystic energy, and three back ups. Plus my special noise canceling bandana Dad made me so I’m fine. Let’s just go.’”
“Great! That’s my man!” Leo did a half skip sideways through the portal for the usual flash of blue before he ended  up on th either side a second later in a crowd of Yokai with Donnie by his side a a second later. Thankfully it wasn’t crowded as he was used to, but like any other time he had gone to the Underground city it was  the sheer number of different Yokai caught him off guard. None of them gave a glance to the two turtles that appeared out of no where. Leo made sure to check on his brother for a moment, “Ready D? Are you ok for splitting up? Who can ever find the creeepy toppings first owes the other five comics!” Rather then wait for Don to verify (or rightly accuse him of trying to weasel out of paying his comics) Leo ducked off.
The last few times he had been here he didn’t really have the chance to look around stalls too closely. Now he could see that most of them held strange trinkets, like necklaces made necklaces out  of eyeballs and  flasks containing different swirling colors. And a crap ton of weapons that made him feel like he was in a ‘shop’ in a video game store.
There was a bump on his shoulder and for a moment his vision was filled with starkingly white fur, “Sumimasen,”said the slightly shorter figure before moving past. Leo barely gave it another thought until something white  hanging of its head pricked him in the eyes, “ow!” Leo rubbed his eyes before half glaring at the person who passed him, “Long ass ears. “ he cursed lightly, was that a rabbit? He glanced for a moment. Yup a bright white rabbit who was already giving him no second thought.
 “Looking for something Kappa?”
Leo drew his attention  to the vendor he had been getting ready to talk to, who somehow had more mouths then head, “Yeah buddy  my bone man, me and my bro are looking for some like weird worms with eyes that normally goes on pizza? You seen anyone who sells it?”
The Vendor twisted its mouths for a moment, “Uh, not sure what a pizza is.”
He narrowed his eyes, “You have a infinite amount of mouths and NONE of them have eaten pizza? You lead a. A sad life “ Don gave a half nod of agreement before going back to his wrist tablet. There was a yank on his mask and he found himself Stumbling back into Hueso’s face, “Why am I not surprised you ignored everything I said?”
“Because its my charm?”Leo said with a big smile. Hueso opened his mouth, probably to tell him off or to threaten to drag him before something behind Leo caught his eye, “oh boy.” He said with the same tone he’d use whenever Leo enter the pizza joint. Leo turned around, glancing around trying to find the source of his concern. There was a Pirate Puppy Yokai, a Cat Cavalier Yokai, that white rabbit looking at a booth, and a yokai that was just a eyeball wearing a fedora. He was about to ask who Hueso was talking about but his eyes were fixated on the rabbit, “You mean Bugs Bunny over there?”
“Karlos mentioned seeing a white rabbit the last few times he came here. He’s always here by himself which is not a good idea.”
“Why not? We’re here by ourselves, and we’re fine. And you just said Karlos comes here alone.”
“Its is not the same, you’re here with me. Trust me if you were alone you would of already had your shell stolen. And Karlos only comes down here on days I designate. As I said its not always safe here-“
“What are you looking at boy!?” A loud voice shouted over the already loud crowd.
The rabbit jumped nearly a foot in the air (literally and figuratively) not a that Leo could blame him, the yelling Yokai was some sort of Cyclops Octopus Yokai with fat arms and giant bat ears and looked as though he was the owner of the booth the rabbit had been standing at, “You’ve been here five times in the past two days, are you going to buy something or what?!”
“I-I-I um” the rabbit stuttered out before his arms magnetized to his side and he bowed in a Almost robotic manner,” I’m sorry please forgive me. I didn’t mean to cause you problems-“
“You’re causing me problems by taking up space!” The yokai suddenly grabbed the rabbit by the front of his shirt and yanked him close to his  face in a way Leo could tell he was very uncomfortable with, “Are you trying to steal from me boy!?It’d be the last thing you ever-“
“OI.” Hueso shouted, finally shoving past a Yokai made of Play-do, “Berbi quit acting like a thug.”
The Yokai, apparently Berbi, swung to look at him, “I know a thief when I see once Hueso. I’m not  a idiot.”
“You have glaucoma Berbi, you think everyone is a thief.  Now go eat a candy bar and quit scaring off your real costumers.”
Berbi glared hard Hueso with snarling broken teeth, but after a moment he flinch and  looked away with a snarl shoving the rabbit away  stomping back behind the curtain behind his booth. When Hueso started walking Leo followed him on autopilot. He was used to seeing Hueso dealing gang members and Big Mama he had almost forgot Hueso was capable of as much intimidation as anyone. Now that they were closer, he could see the the rabbit was his age, if a bit shorter. Wearing a short blue untucked kimono with a white obi and black pants (they were called hakamas right) and some sort of samurai sandals his ears tied back in a pony tail his fur was so fluffy that some of it stuck out on his scalp,  his bright pink eyes looking to them in concern as though he wasn’t sure what to do or expect from them. Instead he did as he did before and bowed, “Thank you, I’m sorry for causing you trouble as well.”He said with a soft Japanese accent
“Do not thank me, are you here alone? Where are your parents?”
The rabbit looked at him in surprise,”I-I’m not, I don’t-“ he looked away for a moment as though in shame
“If you don’t’ have parents, then I’ll take you to one of the shelters nearby.”
“I’m-“ the rabbit froze, “I have a home. I’m just not there.”
Hueso looked him hard,  causing the rabbit to avert his eyes. Leo could just remember that it was supposedly a sign of respect. Right? Atleast according to the Samurai Sam movies he had watched (not nearly as good as Jupiter Jim or Lou Jitsu but still enjoyable). He took a moment to glance around, don was no where in sight, hopefully finding the toppings they needed. They had a good enough signal  that Don would text him if he needed him-“
“Fine, go home boy. Before someone less pleasant then Berbi decides you’re a thief. You’re drawing too much attention to yourself and here that is dangers out. So go home rabbit,  go back to your family And I better not find you here again.” Hueso turned on his step and walked away. Leo turned after him, looking over his shoulder at the rabbit who was still staring at his feet, but the pain coming off him was enough even for him to notice, “dude, bone man wasn’t that a little mean?”
“No. Not mean. Just harsh. This isn’t a safe place for children to be hanging gout alone. Some yokai who come from neighboring villages like to make a bet out of coming here and seeing what they can get away with, I doubt he’s one of them but he needs to go where he belongs where he can be safe. IF my son were in this situation i would want someone to give him the same advice.’

Sometimes Leo forgot that Hueso was a dad, he had never actually met HUeso’s son, but in the few times he spoke of him and judging by the photo on the wall he loved his son dearly. Which was in no way a bad thing. But He looked back over his shoulder at the rabbit again. His whole body slumped as he turned and disappeared around the corner.
He wasn’t sure what drove him to do it, but Leo stopped long enough to duck behind a large platypus yokai. Hopping Hueso wouldn’t notice his disappearance for too long. He glanced at his phone, Donnie had sent him a picture of some Creepy Toppings, atleast he had found some. They’d be gone in a few minutes but he didn’t’ want to leave yet.
Leo ducked the way he had seen the rabbit go, with such a thick crowd he could only guess that the rabbit had ducked between two small buildings. The rabbit was ducked in the buildings shadow, leaning his forehead against the wall with a shadow cast over his face. Leo couldn’t tell if he was frowning or what, and a wiser person might of decided to leave it  be
 and yet
Leo waved “Hey! Bunny man!” grinning as the rabbit once again metaphorically and physically jumped a foot in the air, looking as though his fur was on end, looking at him as though he was a car insurance salesman and not a overly cheerful rabbit, “what do you want?!” the rabbit asked not rudely, “I’m leaving just please leave me alone-“
“Don’t let Bone man bother you, he’s a sweetheart. I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”
The rabbit blinked at him, momentarily stunned “Y-yes I’m fine thank you for your concern but I must go .”
“Oh come on don’t let Hueso scare you off, why don’t you come hang out with me and my bro-“his words were cut off by a sudden shove on his shell sent him hard  to the ground, his beak cracking against the ground and filing his mouth without blood, he went to raise his head again when something pressed hard on the back of his skull pressing his face hard on the ground
“I knew you stole something! I knew it! you and this fish kid are working together!”  Leo couldn’t help but groan loudly at Berbi’s voice, “ Aw you again?! Go take a vitamin man-“ before his mouth was full of ground again
“I- I haven’t stolen anything!” the rabbit said ,” Please don’t hurt him-“
 “Empty your pockets!”
Oh boy, Leo was starting to see why Hueso didn’t want him or Don  coming here alone. From the lid of his eye he could barely see the rabbit feel around ,”All-all I have is a onigiri and some water-“
“Then give me that thing you have at your waist!”
The rabbit hesitated, before reaching for his obi, because Leo had seen far too many samurai movies he had expected the rabbit to pull out a magic katana or a sword bigger then his, but instead he slid out a polished wooden sword, bowing and holding it out, “just please stop hurting him and you can have it.”
There was a pause, judging by the way the foot shifted on his  head he could guess Berbi was trying to get a better close at it before the Yokai burst out laughing,” That’s all?! a stick?!You run around all day with a stick playing samurai?! God” he snorted, “you’re just a nobody aren’t you?” his face leaned close to the rabbit who kept his gaze to the ground. a meaty fist grabbed him by ear and yanked hard, forcing his gaze up to his, “ I bet you wouldn’t last five seconds in then Nexus-“
The pressure was finally off his head enough that Leo rolled away, “Go eat a damn vitamin you bitch!” Leo swung his leg out and kicked Berbi hard on the side of the knee causing the large yokai to shout out in pain and stumble away, releasing the rabbit, Berbi grabbed his leg and glared at him, the rabbit suddenly grabbed him by hand, yanking him to his feet “Come on!” dashing down the opposite side badly giving Leo enough time to get on his feet. Berbi was already back on his feet, yanking out what looked like brass knuckles out from his pocket ,” You’re a bitch!” Leo yelled
Despite running the rabbit looked back on him with a surprised look, “I am not a bitch! My name is Usagi!”
“No not you, him!” Leo blinked, ignoring the Yokai yelling and running after them, “wait you’re a rabbit named Usagi? Did your parents hate you?!”
Usagi’s eyes widen,” WhA- no my parents hate-“ before nearly running smack dab into a wall. Leo, being closest to the turn, took the lead dragging Usagi after him before realizing they were at a dead end barely a second later Berbi slammed into the wall after them. He barely had time to shoulder Usagi behind him, “ You two are DEAD,-“ Berbi shouted, “I was going to sell you two to the Battle Nexus. but i think i’d rather keep you and beat some manners into you-“
“Would you stop talking like a anime villain for five seconds?!” Leo asked ,” Seriously you’re boring me!”  he managed to get his phone. Don had sent him a few messages asking him where he was. He had no doubt that Donnie was already tracking his location. So he  and Hueso would be here soon. Not soon enough though his head was hurting so bad he hadn’t noticed that Berbi was in face until his hand closed around his head before a shout came from behind him
 “Leave him alone!”
Before Leo could acknowledge what was going on, Usagi had charged forward slamming his wooden sword hard into Berbis stomach sending the Yokai hard into the wall. Any relief that Leo might of ,could of, felt disappeared when the building next to them began to tremble, larger cracks forming, “ah BEANS.” He had fallen of buildings plenty of times but he wasn’t sure he could survive one falling on him-
Suddenly a familiar blue lights formed behind him. Before he could turn and fully give a reaction, Usagi’s arm hooked around his neck and drug him back, filling Leo’s vision and world with familiar ring of a portal ring he himself had built many times
Not for the first time that day, he really wished that he had brought his portal sword
a/n
thats right! as a huge Usagi fan it was inevitable that I would write a Usagi fic.  design and certain aspects  for Usagi was inspired by the great and powerful @lesbianleonardo

I'm sorry but I am just DYING for your in-depth thoughts on the season finale
THIS IS LATE BECAUSE IRL STUFF GOT IN THE WAY, I’M HERE NOW THO.
first off and this is a must-comment thing for me, but i can count on one hand the number of finales that can measure up to rise’s. and most of those finales i speak of are series finales, not season finales. this is the First Season, and rottmnt didn’t just end strong, they ended spectacularly.  the dialogue, progression, and versus-versus match ups were all perfectly on point. the scene settings and fight coordination were Stunning, absolutely the best animation i’ve seen all of 2019. the color palette, soundtrack, and pov angles were fantastical as well. it was forty minutes of my life that i didn’t stop smiling even once.
moving on.
how the show’s team decided to end the first season is unusual. most times, younger audience geared shows will play it safe and resolve the Big Battle of the season, leaving the smaller plot threads on cliffhangers. (or at least wait until the second season, or longer.) rottmnt has made a daring move wherein they’ve left the true final boss undefeated while still engaged in combat against them. and it works, it doesn’t feel rushed or unfinished, it feels like we’ve reached the end of a novel and now we’re waiting for the next installment. the narrative has been building up to draxum succeeding in gaining the dark armor from the very start, as well as hinting at things not quite going according to plan for him, so it’s believable and natural to have the plotline come to a head when it did. the balance between satisfying your audience but leaving them hungry for more is a difficult one to strike, and the rise team has done so masterfully.
shifting topics again, but the major theme of being yourself was handled so well in this, and it doesn’t just apply to the boys. they’re very much their father’s sons. splinter and the brothers have both been grappling with their personal identities, both prior and during show canon. the boys, because they’re young and only just beginning to figure out who they are, and splinter because he walked away from his familial inheritance for a good length of his life.
the initial approach they collectively take is to shed their personal identities and conform to traditional clan ways. this fails, obviously. it’s only when they be themselves that they succeed.
i was overjoyed with splinter wearing the clothes of the person he chose to be, and the boys unabashedly showing off the wild streak of their personalities, being the people they choose to be. beyond the cliche of “always be yourself” at work here, these choices are them cementing who they are. they’re not just The Last Hamatos, they’re not just Lab Creations, they’re not just the expectations others have placed on them, They Are Themselves and they won’t pretend to be anything less than that anymore.
and that’s a season long character arc wrapped up, baby!! i’m proud of all of them for it. also that they’ve become an even tighter knit family than before, now that there’s an understanding of not trying to change something that’s already perfect. (it’s them, they’re perfect.)
theories for season 2:
- how the story plot will progress is something i’m actually enjoying having no predictions for! letting it come as it will makes me excited for what’s next, keeps me on the edge of my seat! cannot wait for the resolution to the cliffhanger, given there’s atm no obvious solution to the literal apocalypse happening.
- with so much character development for the boys + splinter, i can’t help but hope april and mayhem are given the same treatment in the next season! april has had a little bit- some semi-unresolved lessons on being herself around people she views as “normal” and letting go of her social anxiety. (hmmm, i’m seeing a pattern between the characters, aren’t you?) but beyond that, she’s been a relatively static character this season, albeit an extremely enjoyable one. same for mayhem. now that we know where they came from- spooky rockface gods in the hidden city? whoaaaa- let’s hope we get backstory for agent 64/mayhem alongside the april development.
- draxum redemption??? maybe??? his crusade against humans has a sympathetic origin. (cool motive, still genocide!) this one is a bit of an indulgent desire on my part. i just really, really want redeemed!draxum fumbling through how to be ““““nice”””” and integrate into the lives of the rise fam. (awkward estranged ex attempting to rejoin the family he chased away... getting to know his sons... using grey morals for noble purpose? any takers??)
- that’s everything lol. now i just wanna say i want more of the supporting characters cast, ((INCLUDING INTRO OF ONE CASEY JONES, PAGING CASEY JONES WHERE ARE YOU)), and lots and lots of worldbuilding for the hidden city.

RotTMNT/Baron Jitsu fanfiction: Dating… With Children - BONUS DRABBLE #5
(Also available to read on AO3)
Just something quick and silly based on something my dad used to do to me and my brother, lol. Enjoy!
Also, do you ever wonder what Lou would look like with the beard he grew once he became a rat? Because I do, all the time.
Dad-Dad-Dad-Dad-Dad-Dad-Dad-DAD!”
Lou smirked, setting his cup of tea down the moment he heard the boy’s excited voice. “Hello to you too, Donnie.” He caught his purple son with ease as Donnie all but launched himself at his father. Leo came in right behind him, slow enough to allow his twin to have his well-deserved spotlight but still smiling just as much.
Draxum was also smiling at the sight. “Well now, someone’s happy.” Despite remembering Donnie’s plan very well, he feigned ignorance. “I wonder what brought on such a good mood. What do you think, Lou?”
“No idea,” Lou shrugged, playing along, “Why don’t you tell us, Donnie? Why are you-?”
“My show and tell went GREAT!” Donnie yelled, still grinning ear-to-ear, “Everyone loved Shelldon an’ told me how cool he was! Everyone clapped, and all my new codes worked perfectly, and Mr. Suranio gave me a gold star! It was the best show and tell presentation EVER!” Noticing his dad and Draxum’s amused expression, Donnie cleared his throat and calmed himself down a bit. “So yeah, that’s why I’m so happy.”
“Aaaaand also ‘cause he’s the smartest kid in our class,” Leo commented, his tone genuine. He occasionally heard other kids in their second grade class complain about Donnie being a nerd and wondering when he’d take his annoying big brain to college already, but usually a glare from him or Raph or a calling out from April would shut them up. There was no denying that Donnie was a nerd and a smartie, but Leo didn’t mind. (Besides, he knew he was still the coolest kid in class.)
“Well, I for one am very happy for you, my son, and very VERY proud,” Lou said, pulling Donnie close. The purple-dressed boy happily accepted the hug. …Though only for a moment. Because only a second or two later, Donnie’s smile became a scowl, and he pushed his father away, hopping off his lap. “Huh?” Lou raised an eyebrow. He knew Donnie wasn’t always up for hugs, sometimes just feeling too sensitive for them and wanting his space, but he had seemed like he had been enjoying it a moment ago-
Figuring that he couldn’t just leave his father in the dark, Donnie said bluntly, “Your face ruined the hug.” Draxum nearly choked on his badly timed sip of tea while Lou just blinked, too confused to be offended.
“He means your face hair,” Leo flatly added, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Donnie nodded, still pouting slightly at his ruined hug.
At that, Lou got a bolt of realization. “Ohhh, you mean my stubble?” he asked, stroking his chin a bit.
“Yeah, that stuff! Like, geez Pop, it’s like trying to hug an itchy cactus or something!”
“Oh really now…?” Leo stiffened slightly, recognizing the mischievous glint in his father’s eyes. He tried to escape, but the Great Lou Jitsu was just too quick for him!
In one swift motion, Leo was picked up and hugged, with Lou’s seemingly-spiky cheeks rubbing right up against his face. “NOOOOO!” he yelled, squirming as he tried to push his father and his annoying, itchy stubble away. Lou could only laugh, letting the boy go after a couple seconds.  “Gah, you’re so weird!”
“Oh, let your father have a bit of fun,” Lou said, still chuckling to himself. Leo just stuck his tongue out at him before running out to the TV room to join his other brothers, with Donnie right behind him.
Draxum shook his head slightly at his prankster of a boyfriend. Lou might have been in his 40s, but he still acted like a big kid sometimes. Still, at the very least, it was endearing. “Guess you’ll have to shave again soon, lest you ‘ruin’ any more hugs.”
“Eh, we’ll see.” Lou stroked his chin again. “I really do want to try and grow a beard…”
Draxum raised an eyebrow at this. He had noticed Lou’s stubble as well, but didn’t think it was a big enough deal to bring up, it most likely being caused by a lack of time to shave in the mornings or a broken and not yet replaced razor. “Seriously?”
“Yeah! Why not?” Lou shrugged, “I’ve always sort of wondered what I would look like with one.” He wasn’t too bothered by the prospect of aging, having simply put himself in the category of ‘distinguished’ actors once he found his first grey hair rather than freaking out about it. So, if a beard made him look older, so be it. He was curious, and shaving everyday was a pain anyway. “Don’t you think I’d look good with one?”
Draxum hummed, leaning forward a bit as he took a good, long look at his boyfriend’s face. “…I can’t see it,” he finally answered after several seconds of suspense.
Lou huffed, waving him off. “Maybe you can’t see it now, but trust me. When it grows out, it is going to look good.”
“If you say so,” Draxum conceded, giving neither approval or disapproval, “Though I doubt the boys are going to agree.”
“They can disagree if they want, but this-” Lou pointed at his chin- “is still happening.” With that, the subject was changed and subsequently dropped.
For the next week and a half, it seemed like Lou was sticking to his goal, his stubble getting longer each time Draxum visited - though he did try to at least try and keep his eventual beard from getting too scraggly, shaping it slightly and keeping it clean.
One Monday night, Draxum managed to make it over for supper after work kept him away for the whole weekend. He knocked on the door, just as he normally did… and a clean-shaven Lou opened the door. “Oh,” he said, slightly surprised, “Changed your mind on the beard?”
“No…” Lou mumbled, pouting as his eyes squinted in a scowl, “Those little punks of mine staged a ‘hug protest’.”
Draxum brought his hand to his mouth, trying and failing to hide his snickers. “I’m sorry, a hug protest?”
“Yeah! They told me they were doing it Friday night - no more hugs from me until I shaved.” At first, Lou had sort of smirked, accepting their ‘protest’ though not expecting it to last long. This expectation changed however after he had tried to tuck them in that night. Every single one of his son’s refused a good night hug, and then would overdramatically whine about how they had just gotten the ‘worst sleep ever’ the next morning, all because they hadn’t gotten their good night hug.
When the same thing happened the next night and day, Lou simply bit the bullet and shaved out of a mix of guilt and annoyance. At the very least, his boys all gave him a group hug the moment he stepped out of the master bathroom. “It was just too much of a hassle at that point to keep it,” Lou said, concluding the explanation with a bit of a sigh, “When they are all in their teenage rebellion ‘too cool for hugs from our dad’ phase, THAT is when I will grow my beard.”
Despite still being way too amused with the whole thing, Draxum just sympathetically patted his boyfriend’s shoulder, silently wishing him the best of luck with his goal. With it still being a while until supper and the boys upstairs playing, the two settled down on the couch, half-watching local afternoon talk shows as they talked about their day.
Lou snuggled up to Draxum’s side as his boyfriend wrapped an arm around him. With his smile softening a bit, Draxum kissed his cheek.
He would never try to control how Lou decided to look - boyfriend or no, that was Lou’s business, not his. Still, Draxun had to agree with the boys: he definitely preferred cuddling up next to a shaved Lou.
((I had been thinking about writing something based on ‘Jupiter Jim Ahoy!’ but uh… yeah the implications would’ve been wayyyyyyyyy too dark even if I was never planning on actually writing anything bad. So, silly drabble it is.
As for the next big chapter, it’s finally time to write two of the things I had been thinking about the most when I first started this fic: Christmas at the Jitsus, and TANG SHEN! Yep, Draxum finally gets to meet Shen and you’ll see the boys interacting with their auntie ^v^
So yeah, expect that probably sometime in December. …Also, with the finale three days away at the time of me writing this, just wanna say: If Draxum dies for real at the end of S1, thaaat’s probably gonna kill my inspiration to write anything after the Christmas chapter. So, yeah, just a heads up. Anyway, see ya’ll in December, and I hope you enjoyed the chapter!))

OC Backstory: Jitterbug
lmao ive been stressed lately so obviously i stress wrote 6 pages of drabble backstory. anyone here’s a look at my useless lesbian rottmnt oc, jitterbug, formerly known as a human named anais, becoming a mutant and ending up working for Big Mama. let’em rip
Oh fuck I forgot to mention but Marsha is @musekicker 's oc!
Anais shrugged on her coat with a huff, sharply pulling the tie at the waist tight. She was exhausted from the dance rehearsal and from the disappointment of another failed audition to move to the mainstage. She had been one of the background dancers for her company since she had signed on and it was starting to get boring. Scratch that, it became boring a year ago. But no matter what, the producers still hadn’t moved her up.
Before Anais could leave to make her way home to ice her feet and knees, she heard someone call out for her.
“Anais!”
She winced before turning around to face Stefan, one of the main dancers, abominable showboat, and annoyance to anyone in a skirt.
“Stefan,” Anais responded, forcing a grin and tugging her collar close together. “Is this going to take long? The L train won’t be running forever.”
“No no no,” Stefan said, stepping next to her and placing a hand on her shoulder. She scowled at that, but fortunately he didn’t notice as he walked her toward the door. “I just want to talk about your audition.”
“Oh,” she deadpanned.
“Now, we all know you have the performing chops and the look to match,” he continued. “It’s just…”
Anais looked up at him as he trailed off. “Just what? If I’m so good then why haven’t I been moved yet?”
“You need to come out of your shell,” Stefan said, pulling her closer. “Come out of your cocoon, to speak. The producers think you’re holding back, and personally, I agree.”
“I am not in my own cocoon!” Anais snapped. Sure, maybe she lacked confidence at times, but she was not in a shell!
“I’m just stating my opinion and what the producers said,” Stefan continued, stopping them next to the door. “I’m willing to offer you some advice - perhaps over a cocktail?”
Anais scoffed, pushing him away. “No thank you. Now if you excuse me, I’m going home!”
And with that, she stormed out of the building and onto the street, quickly weaving through the crowd to her subway. Anais stewed with her thoughts, angry as she rode the train to mid-town for her transfer. Stepping back onto the street, she tried to think of every possible way to prove them wrong the next day and next audition, unaware of the odd green mosquito barreling towards her neck.
Before she realized what was going on, Anais felt a sharp pain in her neck that spread through her body. Gasping for air, she ducked into an alley, leaning against a wall and trying to force down the bile in her throat. She squeezed her eyes shut, slowly slipping down the wall as the pain concentrated in her head, sides and back. Anais heard the shred of clothing and what sounded and felt like bone popping - and then it stopped, and she was finally able to breathe again.
She opened her eyes, staring at the grimy ground below her hands. Everything seemed too bright, too vivid. She sat back on her feet, trying to get her bearings, and felt something brush the ground. Looking back, she saw a set of two filmy wings coming out of her shoulder blades, still wet and shining. Anais choked and scrambled for a puddle on the ground - anything to see herself in and see if what she saw was real.
But the her reflection did not lie, and only revealed more truth.
Anais barely recognized herself. Her skin was a pale teal-blue, eyes were larger now, taking up most of her face. Her nose was pointed and snubbed, looking almost proboscis like, and two antennae curled out of her head. The wings were flared behind her in surprise. Anais reached a hand to her face, another to the antennae - then she noticed the second set of arms and hands jutting from her sides.
Anais jolted from the puddle and to a garbage can, dry heaving in a panic.
“Oh god...what happened to me…,” she gasped. Anais stumbled back, unused to the weight of the wings. “I got to get home…”
She looked down at her new form and winced. Just getting back without gaining unnecessary attention. Thinking quickly, she tucked her new arms into her jacket, and pressed her wings the best she could to her back. Pushing her antennae down flush to her hair, Anais out her head down and booked it out of the alley and down to the stop for her train, barreling past people onto the train and hiding in a corner of the car until her stop. She flew out of the car and up onto the street as fast as her feet would go, and then into her building and up the steps, not resting until the door was shut behind her.
Anais breathed a sigh of relief, tossing her coat to floor. The relief didn’t last long - she couldn’t exactly go back to work or walk freely out in the city or her apartment building. Eventually she would be found out, and she couldn’t stay in her apartment forever. For one of the first times in her life, she was unsure of what to do. There was only real option - run and abandon her life as Anais. It was either that or...well, she didn’t know. Glancing around her apartment, she sighed with quiet determination. Anais quickly grabbed a small carry-on bag, filling it with her clothing, some jewelry and money and some other valuables. She threw on a long wool poncho that hid most of her new limbs and a hat that covered her face and antennae. Looking at her apartment one last time, she slipped out her window and onto the fire escape, and then into the back alleys of the city.
She didn’t stop moving until it was late and she had gotten uptown. From the look and smell of it, she was behind some sort of hotel restaurant. Clutching her stomach in hunger, she ducked behind a trash can, and watched the back door for someone to bring out scraps - she hated that this is how her life had become in a matter of hours. So much for not becoming a starving dancer on the street-
The door opened and someone walked out - but they weren’t human. Anais watched as a bright white bat walked out, stretching and cooling off from the busy kitchen she could spot just through the door. Anais couldn’t help but gasp - stopping herself with a set of hands a moment too late. The bat’s ears twitched and angled immediately toward her.
“Hey! Who’s there?” the bat demanded, starting to walk over. “This is private property you know!”
Anais winced and came out of her hiding spot. The bat stopped.
“A mutant. Let me guess, just turned?”
“Yes,” Anais said, rubbing an arm. “I’m sorry for trespassing - I just wanted to grab something from the...from the trash before moving on-”
“That’s disgusting,” the bat winced.
“I am very aware, but I can’t exactly walk into a bodega and ask for a ham, egg, and potato on a roll,” she replied, gesturing to herself. “You know, being a mutant with extra limbs and all.”
“Fair enough,” the bat shrugged. “Well come along, little bug. Can’t have anyone digging through the Hotel Nexus trash - boss would hate that.”
Anais nodded, grabbing her bag and turning back to head back where she came before the bat stopped her - “I said come along, meaning come with me. I hope the mutation didn’t affect your brain.”
“What.” Anais said. “You want me to come with you? Inside?”
“Yeah,” the bat said, opening the door wide. “Don’t be ridiculous and get in.”
Anais grinned and quickly entered before the bat could change her mind. “Oh thank you! I won’t stay long, I promise!”
The bat shrugged. “Doesn’t matter much to me. Just don’t like the idea of someone rooting through garbage for their next meal.”
“Still, thank you,” Anais trailed off, looking at the rest of the kitchen staff and the random waiter. They were all non-human! “Are you all mutants too?”
“Ha, no, most of us are yokai,” the bat nudged her over to a folding chair and pressed a bread roll into her hands. “Spirits. We’ve been living in New York longer than any human. I’m Marsha, by the way.”
Anais hummed, biting into the roll. “Thank you again, Marsha. I really appreciate it.”
Marsha nodded and returned back to her station. Anais watched the her and the kitchen work, running to and fro across the floor and into the main rooms of the hotel. She finished her bread roll, shedding her poncho and folding it on her lap. Her new arms were still taking time to adjust, at least she was used to the wings. But she felt out of place there in the kitchen, dance shoes and torn outfit sitting in the corner.
“Marsha,” Anais began, “do you know if the hotel is hiring? I’m not a cook but I have the spare hands to waitress.”
Marsha spared her a glance, giving her a better once over. “Unfortunately no spots are open here. The wings might be an issue running around a kitchen.”
“Then housekeeping?”
“House staff is all yokai - gets done in a snap.”
Anais lowered her head, antennae drooping.“Shit.”
“Well, what did you do before? You look like a dancer, or did you do some other weird human job?”
“I am a dancer, actually. Sing too,” Anais looked up, alert. “And I can’t go back to my company either - Is there an opening for something like that here?”
“More or less,” Marsha responded, chopping a bar of chocolate with quick, repetitive motion. “Big Mama - our boss - is looking for some sort of entertainment out in the bar between Nexus battles and in general.”
“I can do that! All four hands down!” Anais chirped, standing up and throwing her poncho behind her. “Where can I go see her?”
Marsha laughed. “You can try to. But don’t get your hopes up, sweets. She’s an...odd one, but she is fond of dancers.”
“So...I have a slight chance?”
“Slight. Go to a security guard, tell them Marsha sent you and you want to talk to Big Mama.”
Anais smiled wide, grabbing her things. “Thank you again! I owe you, Marsha!”
The bat nodded at the fly who weaved her way through the kitchen and out the double doors. A security guard was easy to find - tall, imposing and in a suit. A quick mention of the name and the request led her to an elevator. The porter hit one of the buttons at the very top, and up they went. Anais fidgeted, nervous, excited, and suddenly self conscious about the rips in the fabric around her arms. Once the doors opened, however she pushed it all down. The guard led her down an ornate hallway to an equally ornate door.
“Stay here,” was the only thing he said before slipping into the office. Anais stood there, trying to smooth out her hair and outfit as well as she could before dropping her bag and poncho on the floor behind a potted plant. The guard appeared a moment later, and opened the door for her, gesturing into the room. Anais thanked him and entered, pushing her nerves down once more as the door clicked shut. The room was a rich purple and gold, but dimly lit, save from the large window at the opposite end behind an elegant mahogany desk and tall, lilac chair.
“Come in, come in! Don’t (made-up word instead of linger) at the door, dearie!” the chair spun around to face her, revealing who Anais, while boggled at the random word, figured was Big Mama. “I’m told you’re looking for employment opportunities?”
“Oh- oh yes! I am,” Anais stepped closer until she stopped in front of the desk proper. Big Mama’s gaze made her feel not only like she was under examination but also very much more akin to a fly near a web. But she had dealt with that feeling most of her life, so coming from her it was nothing if not vaguely attractive. “Marsha down in the kitchen told me you were looking for someone to do entertainment at the bar, and well, I’m your girl for it.”
Big Mama stood, walking around the desk and looking Anais up and down. “I see.”
“I was - I’m a dancer, most types, and I’m not too bad at singing either,” Anais continued as Big Mama walked around her, heels clicking and eyes going over her. “And since I mutated today, I can’t exactly go back to my old company - not that I was going places there anyway.”
“Not a place for pretty little bugaboos now, was it?” Big Mama came to a stop in front of her, pressing a finger against her chin to raise Anais’s head. The fly shook her head. “My hotel, however, might just be a perfect fit for you.”
“You’re giving me the job?” Anais couldn’t believe her ears! Big Mama laughed, stepping back around the desk.
“For now - there will be just a teensy-weensy probation period, of course, to make sure you do perform to my expectations,” she said, pulling out what appeared to be a contract. “But you won’t let me down, will you?”
“No! Not at all,” Anais sat down on one of the chairs, taking the contract and a pen with a flutter of her eyelashes. “I’m here for your entertainment.”
Anais quickly lowered her eyes down to the paper to avoid her boss’s amused gaze - of course, her new boss had to be her type and of course she had to make a casual advance. As she went to sign it, she became aware that she couldn’t sign Anais anymore. Part of her remained, but...there was a part that screamed of being entirely new. With steely resolve, her new self was newly named with a flourish of the pen. Big Mame took it back, scanning it over.
“Welcome to the Grand Nexus Hotel, Jitterbug,” Big Mama held out an elegant hand to shake. Jitterbug smiled and took it, and so the fly began to work for the spider.

{ROTTMNT Fanfic} - Burden
( WARNING : This is not Turtle x Turtle related at all, this is purely just some family scenarios with no relationships at all what’s so ever. Just regular day in the life turtle stuff)
[Also before you read this, I’m not very knowledgeable with ROTTMNT just yet. I just started binge watching the episodes recently so if I get any information wrong about the series I’m sorry. I hope you enjoy reading this though.]
It was around an hour before when he left the lair down below the surface. Not even bothering to tell his brother’s where he went off to before he had left. He was to much of a burden to them any way so why would they want to know where he went off to. It seemed like they were just all around annoyed with him to be fair. More then the usual annoyance of his sick puns he made through out the day to lighten the mood with his humor. Almost like he had done something wrong and didn’t even know about it. The blue masked turtle let out a sigh as he sat on top of on of the roof tops. Staring down at the light the shined in the city around him. His chin rested in the palms of his hands as he sat there in silence. Debating on what to do next in his little solo adventure by himself. The loneliness was hitting him hard, unlike Raph he could be alone for periods of time easy. But it was the fact that his brother’s didn’t want him around them, that made the feeling worse in the pit of his stomach. He just didn’t understand why, and that was his worst fear. That they didn’t want him around any more and that’s what it felt like at the moment.
--------------------------------------
“Hey......hey Donnie watcha doing!” Leo asked as he spun in the spare chair his brother had by his computer desk. The purple banded turtle seemed busy enough, coming up with new ideas and advancements with his past inventions. His brother groaned in annoyance as he hunched over his table yet again, ignoring his brother behind him. Continuing tinkering with his bow staff in his hand to fix the little problems he had using it last time. Leo’s brow raised as he pushed himself over using the end of the table against the wall. Pushing past his brother swiftly and glanced over his shoulder to see what he was working on at the moment.Curiosity was all he had at the moment and the saying goes curiosity killed the cat. He knew Donnie would get easily distracted by him moving so he tried to stop himself from moving any more. His plan was to get a good spot to look at his project behind him. Failing miserably as he fell back with a loud smack of the back of his shell hitting the floor along with the chair.
“Leo could you leave, you’re distracting me from my work to much. I can’t even think with you around causing all of this noise! Can’t you just go and bother someone else!” Donnie exclaimed as Leo laid there on the floor in pain as he looked at his brother looking down upon him. The small sound of a pop in his ribs filled the room as he sat up from the floor quickly. Donnie soon turned back to his bow staff as he sat there on the floor. The blue masked turtle sighed as he stood up from the ground quite quickly. Running his brother’s words through his head that pierced his heart somewhat. Leo sighed, his posture hunched over somewhat, his ego bruised by his brother’s words. the comedic turtle walked in to the front room. His head lifted up and found Mikey in the kitchen, humming a tune softly to himself as he stared at the cook book on the table. Leo smiled widely as he raced over and ducked in tot he kitchen, his younger brother seemed to be cooking a desert dish. One of the many things he liked to cook and practice in the kitchen on his days off. Leo glanced around the island in the kitchen and stood up fast.
“Hey Mikey, watcha cookin?” Leo asked as he stood up, frightening his brother somewhat as he stood there concentrating. Mikey screamed, dropping a little more then enough flour in to the mix. His brow knitted together as he glared at Leo standing there on the opposite side of him. Mikey was never one to be overly angry, but his face at the moment showed all.
“Leo could you NOT scare my in the kitchen like that bro, you made me pour a lot more flour then what I needed.....I have no clue what I’m gonna do now!” Mikey exclaimed as he glanced down in to his bowl he was using at the moment.
“I-I’m sorry Mikey.....I didn’t mean to scare you.....I’ll just go” Leo replied, his head hanging even lower then before. Now two of his brother’s hate him at the moment instead of one. What was up with him today? Why were they so easily annoyed and aggravated with him....He was getting in to his own head again like he always does. No reassurance to get him through this bad time. The turtle in blue just wanted to cry, he wanted to go to his brothers and just ask them why he was annoying them. Leo ran his hand down the back of his head and neck as he walked in to his room. Grabbing his sword placed on nails on his wall up above his bed. The comedic turtle carefully walked out of his room, his eyes darted toward the living room where his father sat. A small smile formed on his face as he walked closer. Noticing he was falling asleep in the chair in front of the TV. Leo bit his bottom lip slightly, not knowing if he should wake him up or not. The look on his father’s face meant he was falling asleep, but he wanted to tell him where he was going before heading out in to the world alone.
“dad......dad I-I’m-”
“Blue! Can’t you see I’m trying to watch my shows! Goodness you know it is on a marathon tonight. I have no time for your silly games, go bother your brothers right now.” Splinter somewhat yelled in an annoyed tone of voice as he fixed his sitting position on his chair. Having the cousins squeak loudly from the shift of weight. Leo glanced away from him, not even remembering that it was the marathon of his favorite show this afternoon. To be honest he didn’t really pay attention to him saying that earlier because of his selective hearing he had.
“Sorry dad......I’m just gonna head out” Leo replied as he walked away from him, even more depressed then ever. His whole family hated him, he didn’t even want to try with Raphael at this point. He scared him the most when he was angry because he normally isn’t at all. The blue masked turtle’s head hung low as he made his way over to the entrance of the lair. Glancing back in to it like he was waiting for one of his brothers to come and tell him not to leave. What was he thinking, they didn’t want him around at the moment anyway. Why would they stop him now?
--------------------------------
The blue masked turtle rubbed his eyes slightly, forgetting to blink as he stared off in to space while he sat there in silence. He lifted his legs up from the side of the building. Dusting his back of dust as he stood up from the roof. His mind was wondering in many places, the bad overruling the good at the moment more then anything. He hasn’t even gotten a call from his brother’s back at home to ask where he was. His eyes looked down in sadness at the cars slowly driving by.
“Well what do we have here, the turtle in blue all by himself up on the roof top....what A pleasant surprise” Leo turned around quickly and found the two villains with the foot like symbol on theirs heads. Standing there behind him with what seemed to be a brief case in the taller ones hands. Leo smirked, hiding away his emotions as he grabbed his sword with a snarky grin.
“Well well well looks like we meet again then you crooks, what have you stolen now.....let me guess some fancy colored paper for your minions that we fought and beat easily might I add not just because of my ego?”
“No! Why would we.....oh your the sarcastic one aren’t you....gotta be honest all I remember about you is that and your portals you create....other then that not really anything”
“Oh I can so promise you there is a lot more to me then you know about besides my dashing good looks and my charm”
“Come on we don’t have time for this, we need to get going”
“What you don’t have time for little old me? What’s wrong you afraid of Leon?” Leo asked with a sly smirk as he gazed at them standing there. The villains glanced over at each other, smiling devilishly as the smaller one brought out. Several pieces of paper. Making more minions as their escape route, they seemed to be bigger then before. Some had better weapons then others. Leo gazed over all of them, making it seem like he was confident in himself to take them all on but truth be told he wasn’t. Leonardo got his stance ready and launched himself forward. Cutting two of the closest ones in half with some ease as he tried to follow the two villains from earlier. They were quick as they ran on top of the roof tops together. One carried their stolen item the other created more minions for Leo to defeat on the way.
“You guys are really slacking, I just cut through like 6 of hem with ease. Come on, you would think fancy colored paper would do the trick this time” Leo called out to them as they ran, realizing that they were only ignoring him as he talked. The blue masked turtle sliced his way through the crowd, it seemed as he got closer the villains made even better minions as they traveled. Leonardo hated to admit it but he was getting really tired at this point. He tried his best to follow behind them but his stamina was running low.
“I guess you could say I’m giving them a paper cut huh? Come on and fight me already instead of putting your minions in the way. What ever you got in the brief case shouldn’t be that important. It’s just me, shouldn’t this be a treat to you guys?” Leo asked as he dodged another hit coming at his head swiftly. The comedic turtle formed a portal quickly and on to another building across the street where he saw them go. As he turned the next corner his body was slammed against a big hammer one of the minions was wielding. His body smacked against the closest wall with a loud thud. The air being knocked out out his lungs tremendously as he struggled to breath while laying there. Leo clutched his shell in pain as he sat up from the ground. He reached out and grabbed his sword from the ground next to him. Getting hit once more by another minion to his side, he didn’t know what to do. His mind was racing yet there was no plan of escape. He needed to act fast now, with the villains gone out of his sight and range. He needed to find a way to either defeat all of the minions and get back to them or portal himself out of there and fast. He just wasn’t sure what to do and that was the main problem.
-----------------------------
“Are you sure he didn’t tell you where he was going Donnie?”
“No he didn’t, I made him leave the lab because he was distracting me with my work” Donnie replied as he flipped his googles down to see if he could trace the energy of his brother’s sword. Raph sighed as he glanced over to Mikey, he seemed tense as he stood there. Almost like he was hiding something as he stood. Raph’s brow knitted together as he took a few steps closer to Mikey as he stood by the edge of the building. Getting his brother’s attention almost immediately.
“Mikey......did Leo tell you where he went?”
“N-no-”
“Mikey?”
“I yelled at him too okay, he scared me and I didn’t mean to....he left looking really sad and then I heard dad yell at him before he left in the other room....I really didn’t mean to yell at him he just scared him a lot and that was my reaction!” Mikey replied, letting everything out as he stood there with and upset look on his face. They all knew Leo’s issue with negative and overthinking, he never told anyone about it but they all knew he had that problem. He felt as though he could be annoying and a burden to them. Like he was useless and that his family hated him for some of the things he has done. Even through they reassurance he still has trouble coming to realize that they could never hate them. Donnie looked back at them in realization, knowing why he had left with out telling any of them now. Guilt was setting in on all of them now as they thought about their brother’s emotions and what would go through his mind at the moment. Raph stepped forward and hugged Mikey tightly. His eyes wondered around for any signs his brother could have left. He knew they didn’t mean to yell at him, but how was he gong to convince him about it when they see him next.
“Have you tried calling April, maybe she has seen him lately?” Raph suggested, watching his smarter brother nod his head as he grabbed his phone. Her number was soon dialed but no one answered after the rings had stopped and the voice said to leave a message. Making them all panic since April always answered her phone no matter what. Donnie soon tried again, his face of confusion said it all as he clicked her contact once more. Getting the same result soon afterward.
“We’re heading over to April’s then, it’s settled right now she never does this” Donnie replied as he stood up from his crouching position and jumped to the next roof top. Having his brother’s follow quickly behind. Their anxiety was through the roof as they traveled closely together. First their brother wasn’t answering and now their best friend wasn’t either. What was going on with the two of them, more importantly was something very wrong. They needed to think positively about this, maybe she just couldn’t reach the phone at the moment and they could try again soon enough. The trio of turtles traveled quickly through the night, coming closer and closer to April’s apartment building across the street. Mikey went first and landed on the ladder outside, hearing voices coming from inside. He waved his brothers over, having them be quiet as he slowly opened the window so they could hear better. As the sat they finally found April coming in to frame and their brother slowly limped behind her to the kitchen chair pulled out. He seemed bruised and cut but alright for now.
“Leo how did you even manage this and what’s inside the briefcase?” April asked as she brought out cleaning supplies and started to clean the cuts along his legs and arms. Hearing him wince as the alcohol touched with open cuts.
“Well.....I ran in to those guys with the *wince* foot symbols again and they carried this along with them.....I followed them and got beat up by their minions. But they weren’t the normal ones, they were like upgraded versions. So naturally I *wince* fought back against them. Just as I thought I wasn’t going to make it and stop them. I managed to- Ow hey be careful”
“Sorry Leo, you know I’m not good with this kind of thing”
“It’s fine....anyway where was I- Oh yeah....I managed to portal away just in time and actually portaled right where they ended up. I took the brief case and portaled my way out of there before they could do anything about it as easy as that.” Leo replied with a large grin on his face as April wrapped his arm slowly so she wouldn’t hurt him any more. April smiled back at him as she watched him fiddle with the case. Soon stopping as his expression faded and went blank. He slowly sat it on to the ground beside them both and glanced back at her cleaning the gash on his leg.
“You mind telling me why your brother’s weren’t with you fighting?” April asked as she looked up at him. Placing a butterfly bandage on his temple where a small cut lied. His gaze fell in to a quite depressed looking one, telling April all she needed to know. She knew about his anxiety and constant over thinking. He covered it up well she had to give him that, but nothing could get past her when it came to her best friends. Already getting an idea in to her head of what had happened.
“I left....I could tell I was being a burden so I figured I would just leave before I made things worse....I didn’t look for a fight the trouble just found me up here.....I came to you because you were the closest when it came to help and well I didn’t want to bother my brother’s and their work....but I’m okay, at least it wasn’t that bad injuries to be fair.” Leo replied with a small sad smile on his face to try and cover his real emotions. April leaned forward and hugged him tightly, trying not to hurt him even more since she noticed the bruising near his shell and the small crack on the right side of his plastron. Leo was in shock for a second, but he soon wrapped his arms as best he could around her with a small chuckle.
“I told you I’m fine-”
“Leo! I’m so sorry....I’m so sorry for yelling at you honest” Mikey broke the silence as he entered the apartment. Joining in on the hug they were having. Leo stared at him in confusion and found his brothers coming in as well from the same window. he laughed softly as April let go and had Mikey hug him tighter. He let out a groan of pain, signaling for Mikey to get off of him. his hand quickly went to the small crack in his shell. Shrugging slightly as he glanced down at it.
“What are you guys doing here?”
“We were searching for you.....when April wasn’t answering we figured something had happened to the both of you and came here to check out the place.....Are you okay Leo, where did you get hurt?” Raph asked, being over protective and caring as always. But as he was about ready to help Leo up his brother stood up himself with a small bit of pain in his eyes.
“I’m fine, April patched me up pretty good.....just gonna have bruising the next few days” Leo replied as he picked up the brief case and limped over to his brother standing there silently. The guilt in his eyes never faded as he glanced away to try and hide his fear. Leo smiled softly as he placed his bandages hand on his brother’s shoulder. Grabbing his attention and handed him the brief case he had took from the bad guys.
“Well since you guys were eavesdropping and doing it really badly might I add. Have a look at what those guys were stealing will ya....and probably away from April’s place just in case it’s something really bad in it like a bomb” Leo replied as he started to make his way to the window. He turned his head back as he felt his brother’s hand on his shoulder. As he looked back he was brought in to another hug. This one was less tight then Mikey’s but Leo could tell how worried Raph was and how much he cared for him at the moment. Leo smiled as he wrapped his arms around his brother, resting his head up against his chest. He felt his other brother’s arms wrap around him soon after like he had done before. Leo’s eyes darted over to Donnie, standing there like he wasn’t aloud to hug him at the moment. But as soon as he seen Leo’s smile he had he knew he was always welcomed. Wrapping his arms around him as well as tight as he could almost.
“Sorry I left guys....I didn’t know I would worry you this much jeez”
“No don’t be sorry....I shouldn’t have yelled at you for scaring be on accident”
“I shouldn’t have been so stern with you when I told you to leave......I-I’m s-so-”
“Save it Donnie.....I forgive you guys” Leo replied as they stayed in the group hug for another minute or so.
“But from now on at least leave a note before taking off like that okay, you scared the ever loving crap out of me!” Raph said as he picked his brother up with ease. Making him chuckle as he held him like a rag doll up in the air.
“I won’t I won’t okay scout’s honor, you want a pinky promise I’ll give you a pinky promise Raph”
“Yes I would like a pinky promise thank you very much”
“Fine pinky promise.....now could we head home....I’m kinda hungry after running around all night after those goons”
“Yes of course, I’ll make dinner as soon as we get back I promise”
“Sounds like a plan bro’s”
