Hey! Curious if you're currently into any great shows. If so, mind sharing your recommendations? Always on the lookout for some good TV suggestions!
I imagine you've seen everything I have. I spend more time gaming. Not into anything great at the moment, but I can dig deep and see if I can remember what shows I've watched since Hannibal aired and give my opinions. I binge TV series with my mom who is in her 80's and has Parkinson's and macular degeneration and can't really do activities or read anymore, so I rewatched some old ones with her here largely to torture her with them, so they'll be in here also.
S-Tier (Winners)
My Brilliant Friend. Probably the best thing I've watched since Hannibal. If S4 is out I haven't seen it yet, no spoilers.
Better Call Saul. Possibly tied with My Beautiful Friend. Better than Breaking Bad. Much better ending. So good, no complaints. Nailed the ending. Did I mention the ending?
A-Tier (Runners-up)
Black Sails: God, there were some parts of this that were so gratuitous and tedious, especially early on, and I hated Eleanor Guthrie and not in the kind of way that means good things for a show. Some of the dialogue was just really on the nose too. This sounds like a lot of complaints, but the things it did well, it did SO WELL that it really does make up for the negatives. The acting was sooooo good and the Flint and Silver dynamic was AMAZING and the show looked great, and over all that, it really had something thoughtful to say, and that stays with you when it's over.
Stranger Things: Some parts of this show hit better than others, but I'm squarely in the bullseye of the target audience and get the vast majority of the references and nostalgia, and I love David Harbour. I appreciate their exploration of various types of horror, attempting a new style each season, and I like the charm and humor and cheese, and it's a show that knows its voice and its tone and commits fully to those things. It's trying to be a fun show and it is, and it wants to deal with real fears and real grief, and it does.
The Handmaid's Tale: Speaking of shows that are committed to their tone, this one definitely is that. It's too heavy and relentless for most people, I think, but I don't mind that at all. Parts of it do drag, but it has a lot of the same qualities (for good or bad) as Black Sails: great acting, powerful character dynamics, the things that it does well it does so well it makes up for the shortcomings, imo.
Breaking Bad: Famous show, not much to say here. Rewatched it recently and don't think it's as good as Better Call Saul, so I put it here.
B-Tier (Can't complain but will anyway)
Good Omens: Can't get into it, can't find anything particularly wrong with it. I'm into the ship. I guffaw out loud while watching it yet am thoroughly bored most of the time. Love Michael Sheen and David Tennant on screen together. I know the show can't be that all the time but I wish it was. Aziraphale ftw. I feel like people missed the point of the ending of the last season.
Mad Men: Show could give Seinfeld a run for its money in terms of being about nothing, but definitely had its charm. Watched it with my mom so her nostalgia and appreciation for how historically authentic it felt went a long way. Good performances. God, it could be boring sometimes though.
Vikings: This one was a lot like Black Sails for me. They had a bit of a struggle for a season or two but once going, they really got going. Many great acting performances and characters. Loved Ecbert and Ivar especially. Didn't have Toby Stephens and Luke Arnold, so you know...can't quite make that tier. And didn't have as much to say, or didn't say it as well, and it doesn't stay with you.
C-Tier (Can complain and will, but were good enough to stick with)
LOST
The X-Files
His Dark Materials
Downton Abbey
BBC Sherlock
Game of Thrones (I think most people have misdiagnosed this show's problems, but it sure did have them)
D-Tier (Tried but could NOT, though many people will like these...they were just Not For Me)
Bridgerton
Dark
The Good Place
The Gilded Age
Outlander
The Crown
Outer Range (what even the fuck with this show)
I tried to think of more shows I've watched in this time, but this about sums it up. But here are a couple YouTube channels I really like:
Beau of the Fifth Column
Bistro Huddy

The Pronouns
Welcome to my new series, Transgender Seinfeld, an adaptation of Seinfeld where Jerry, George, and Kramer are transgenderfied
THE CAST:
JERRY SEINFELD: Pretty much the same, he’s a successful, rich and slightly slutty comedian living in NYC. He transitioned in sophomore year of high school. “Jerry’s closeness with George is occasionally mistaken for gayness” – literally a quote from Wikipedia. GEORGE COSTANZA: Has been best friends with Jerry since high school but transitioned later on. He’s still largely confused and befuddled about manhood and all its trappings. Currently trying out he/they pronouns.
ELAINE BENES: Cisgender, extremely bisexual lesbian. So again, basically the same.
COSIMA KRAMER: I’m replacing Cosmo with a trans woman who is very chaotic. It’s very Monster energy drink, V-Tuber career, T4T, how-are-you-not-dead, disaster vibes. We all love her and she actually deserves the extended applause from the audience when she crashes into the scene.
EPISODE 1: The Pronouns
George is exploring he/they pronouns but gets upset when someone they/thems him at the health center where he swims. Jerry and Elaine go to get their birth control updated at the clinic together. Kramer is selling bathwater, but the FDA comes to investigate when a twink drinks her bathwater and goes to the hospital for sepsis
INTERIOR: The Café, 5pm
George marches into the diner and throws down his cap and newspaper dramatically onto the counter. Jerry silently gesticulates confusion, annoyance.
GEORGE You won’t believe this one, Jerry! I got THEY/THEM’d at the Y.
JERRY They/them’d? By who?
GEORGE A complete, and utter stranger
JERRY
Isn’t that a good thing? I thought you were trying out he/they pronouns?
GEORGE
Look at me, Jerry. I’ve got the virility of a polar bear.
JERRY
Polar bears are known for their virility.
GEORGE
This chest. This is the chest of an Italian Strongman. You could lose a TV remote in these coils and not find it for weeks. Weeks.
JERRY
Is that so? Can I take a look in there? You know I actually can’t find my remote and I’ve been trying to change the channel. It’s been Judge Judy reruns for two weeks straight. Not that I don’t like the woman, but you can only handle so much second-hand stress.
GEORGE
Can you be serious?
JERRY
I can’t, actually. It’s a condition.
Elaine enters the café
ELAINE
Hey Jerry. Woah. I’m sensing a vibe here. What’s going on?
JERRY
George got they/them’d at the Y.
ELAINE
What is that supposed to mean.
GEORGE
I WAS THEY/THEM’D AT THE Y! Do I look like a they/them?
ELAINE
But I thought you were trying out he/they pronouns?
Jerry throws up his arms, as if to say “that’s what I said”
ELAINE (cont’d) It’s common courtesy to use they/them pronouns for someone you don’t know. And last week you were just telling us about how you wanted to start using they/them pronouns.
GEORGE
I was completely shirtless. Look at this chest. Manly. Hairy. Do I look like a they/them, Elaine? I’m at the peak masculine form. I’m virile.
ELAINE
You sure look viral.
GEORGE
VIRILE!
ELAINE
(sharing a laugh with Jerry) George, it’s the necklace.
George looks shocked, hurt, scared. He instinctively covers his necklace with his hand.
GEORGE
What about the it?
ELAINE
It’s very nonbinary, George.
GEORGE
What about a silver chain is nonbinary?
ELAINE
Look at you. You’re dressed like an Italian strong man from the 1920’s. You look like a Ringling brother [snort] The silver chain certainly doesn’t help.
JERRY
(changing the subject, suddenly) What’s up with you, Elaine?
GEORGE
Don’t change the subject.
ELAINE
Well, I just spent 2 HOURS in line at the pharmacy to pick up my PrEP prescription. I’m standing there between the stinkiest, largest, most annoying men New York City has ever seen. I finally get up to the counter, I ask “Can I pwease get my PwEP?” and the pharmacist types in my name and it’s as if they’ve never seen a keyboard I mean. One. Key. At. A. Time. And then FINALLY she tells me that I’ve traveled all the way here just so she could tell me my prescription is expired.
JERRY
Can PrEP prescriptions expire?
ELAINE
That’s what I said! So I tell them to check again, there must be a mistake or something. I just waited 2 hours for this!
GEORGE
(interjecting) How did you know they use they/them pronouns?
ELAINE
I don’t know them, George. It’s a courtesy. Plus, they kind of looked like you.
Elaine smiles mischievously and looks him up and down.
GEORGE
Check!
George looks around for the waitress.
ELAINE
So anyway, now I have to go back to the gay center and see the doctor to get a re-up on my PrEP before I run out.
The waitress approaches the table, she’s annoyed and chewing gum.
GEORGE
I’d like to check out please 
George hands his credit card to the waitress. She begins swiping it on her iPad.
JERRY
You know, I was thinking of going back to see about starting birth control. I think it may be time for me to dip my toe back into the dating pool again. Maybe even date a few cis gays.
ELAINE
Wow, Jerry. Cis gays? That’s so brave of you.
JERRY
Yeah, yeah. Anyway, we can go together.
ELAINE
Sure!
WAITRESS
Do either of you have another form of payment? Their card was declined.
Elaine and Jerry laugh. George slams his head on the table.

Imagine the confusion 616 Spiderman has seeing fictional characters as Spider people, since 616 is the most like our reality.
ATSV Miguel: And this is...The Masked Spider. *Pointing to a Spider-man who suspiciously looks just like King Dedede*
616: That's just King Dedede.
Miguel: Who?
616: King Dedede, from Kirby. Do you not have Kirby in your universe?
Miguel: I am not going to ask what "Kirby" is. I already caused the destruction of a universe by giving a 1930's Spider-man a smartphone. I don't need a fictional penguin being the reason I have to catch up on an infinite amount of pop-culture across the multi-verse to avoid bringing one here.
616: I also think I see Goku, Doomguy, and the ENTIRE cast of Seinfeld.
Miguel: ...You're going to give me an aneurysm. Lyla?
Lyla: Yes, Miguel?
Miguel: How fast can you watch TV?
Lyla: I can consume about... one 67-episode long series in about a half second.
Miguel: Thank god. How long do you think it would take for you to consume all of mainstream pop culture in the multiverse?
Lyla: 1 year, plus however long it would take for you to beat...600 video games? That's assuming I won't make you watch all those series with me, though.
Miguel: ...I hate this already. Peter, I am banning you from being 500 feet in my general vicinity.

i'm a nerd who was raised by television. one of my ultimate comfort shows growing up was Frasier.
Tumblr media
don't ask me how, don't ask me why but i was a young brown woman living in the south and yet, this show about two stuffy, pompous elitist intellectuals and their cranky policeman of a father and his home caregiver was one of my favorite shows. i watched it every night because reruns played on a local station.
if i could boil my humor down to two things its i love lucy and frasier. like, i'm sorry friends, i'm sorry seinfeld, in my opinion, frasier was the greatest sitcom of the 90's. all of that of course boils down to the caliber of writing and performance. it's a timeless kind of humor. to this day, when i need that extra something to end a hard day, i put on 'daphne does dinner' or any the maris murder episodes (''i was punched in the face by a man now dead!") and during the holidays i usually take a day to marathon all of the Christmas episodes.
Tumblr media
i have a lot of feelings about the revival. most of which can be summed up with, i don't want this. frasier was lightening in a bottle in terms of getting the perfect writing team and the perfect cast and i don't know if it can be replicated, especially because only kelsey grammar and a few original cast members will be reprising their role. of course i know the whole argument that frasier the show itself was a spin off of cheers and that worked so by that reasoning, this could work as well. i just don't feel like it will because it's an entirely different tv landscape now.
the revival trailer doesn't give me a lot of hope though. everything about it feels so stock. canned. i think there is a way to revive it, i just don't know if the route they're going is the way.
personally, if i was writing it this is how i would build it. break frasier down as a character. one of the easiest ways to endear a character to an audience is to make them struggle before reaching their goals. my idea: have frasier in a career slump. radio is dying and he's lost his show and due to this he's decided to bunker down with his son, the now adult freddy and wah-la, you get your odd couple dynamic right there.
that of course mirrors the original series and how frasier and his regular joe father martin had to navigate a relationship being two opposites.
Tumblr media
frasier has always had a particular, sophisticated taste for things, make adult freddy like his grandpa martin. freddy is your every man, who loves a good beer and a good football game. due to financial reasons on both ends, father and son have to live under the same roof as they both figure out new paths.
also: make freddy gay. the original frasier series had numerous jokes about heterosexual niles and frasier being a little gay, just because they liked the finer things. you can sort of play with that in the revival by making freddy, the beer loving, football playing average joe gay.
Tumblr media
by making the character of the now grown up freddy gay, it adds another layer to the story. but beyond that i think it would be a way to honor the actors who worked on the original series. because eighty-five percent of frasier's original cast was gay. it's not speculation or rumors, there is a very rich queer history to the behind the scenes of frasier the series. gay creatives brought frasier to life for 11 seasons. i think making a grown up freddy gay would be a way to honor them.
another thing i have issues with. why is frasier a college professor? it feels tired.
a better idea: with his radio show dead and buried, frasier bumbles around the apartment until freddy introduces him to this new, spiffy thing called podcasting! radio may be dying but every millennial and younger listens to about three podcasts a day. freddy shows his dad that he can still reach and help people and do it on a much more personal level.
frasier starts a tiny podcast that blooms into something bigger where he reaches a new generation of callers asking for help. this kickstarts something and it in turn opens a door for a new career that still feels organic. it's different from the radio show but, for original audiences, it scratches that nostalgic itch of listening to frasier talk to ridiculous callers.
if i were writing it those would be my two key points. make freddy gay, make a struggling frasier a podcaster. also find a way to have that cam winston guy make a cameo.

please dont be an asshole or a hater on my blog especially racists and anti-lgbtq, please fuck off
[also under 16 tread lightly / mostly dni cuz i talk about wild shit sometimes. plus my fave shows are rated tv-14]
this is my "stuff" blog. just everything i like that i also want to keep aside from my other more focused blogs.
i'm 18. i use she/her pronouns. i am bisexual. i have a masc nb partner of 5 years who is the light of my life. i am mixed white and ojibwe/odawa. i live in the very top of the pnw and love that fresh air. i am autistic and suffer from agoraphobia.
please follow me if u don't meet any of the prior criteria and are into this stuff :
american dad, king of the hill, futurama, bobs burgers, rick and morty, family guy, the simpsons, south park, dan vs., aqua teen hunger force, smiling friends, xavier renegade angel, my name is earl, trailer park boys, it's always sunny in philadelphia, seinfeld
[i do not partake in discourse about any media, my favorite shows can regularly make fun of marginalized groups or concepts and while i understand how harmful it can be and that it will make people uncomfortable - i am also part of some of those marginalized groups and i can still find the humor and/or ignorance within it. i see no reason to police the things that other people watch on tv]
[i take adult animation very seriously, i am deeply attached to american dad (and king of the hill/ family guy but to lesser degrees) and have been since childhood. it is my main special interest. i rewatch episodes literally every day of my life and have for about 4 years. i am in the process of writing my own fan episodes. my favorite characters are haley and roger, but i love the whole smith family.]
my little pony g4, adventure time, amazing world of gumball, craig of the creek, total drama, teen titans and teen titans go, chowder, regular show, victorious, icarly, the garfield show, most pokémon shows
aggretsuko, panty and stocking, mob psycho 100, one punch man, dr. stone. (i was a major anime and manga fan in 2014-2016 - blue exorcist, soul eater, the devil is a part timer, free!, ouran high school host club, food wars, sword art online, fruits basket, tokyo mew mew just to name a few). i have recently gotten into the precure series, with my favorites being tropical rouge, delicious party, and kirakira a la mode.
shopkins, squishmallows, tokidoki, rainbow high dolls , num noms (r.i.p) and other random cute toys and plush
casual to gourmet cooking / gastronomy (big fan of sweets of all kinds)
vampires (i am also a sanguinarian vampire and focus more on that at my blog @sanguinep0wer), gothic literature, gothic fashion genres, gothic horror, kawaii culture, visual kei
the sims 4, world of warcraft, tf2, minecraft, stardew valley, am overwatch 1 veteran, indie horror games. used to be into comic books but only DC (teen titans were my fave)
goth music aka darkwave, post punk, gothic/doom metal. also into numetal, experimental, and spooky sounding electro pop. (aural vampire, the cure, tiamat, to/die/for, cradle of filth, sisters of mercy , insane clown posse, aphex twin etc) some breakcore, and mid to late 2000's rap/pop music, sometimes nightcore'd. (akon, eminem, britney spears, rihanna, etc). i also used to be really really into vocaloid, i am still but much less so. my music taste is kinda all over the place honestly but i like what i like
i am interested in spirituality, specifically law of attraction and manifestation. i also am kinda starting to get back into ritual "witchcraft" worship of Dionysus but im trying to get as close to original/proper sources as possible before officially starting
i am also super into art specifically abstract and surrealism / dreamlike paintings, i use both dark harsh colors and softer pastel colors depending on what i'm trying to convey. i am planning a large project for april or may this year
[if i use improper terminology when talking about my interests pls be kind i am incredibly socially awkward and really don't get the chance to interact with fellow interest community members so i may not be up to date on everything. i am always looking for more friends! thank u for reading this far :) ]

Go see tick, tick... BOOM! if not for the musical aspect, just for Andrew Garfield's performance. He is wonderful and yes. He did learn to sing and play the piano for this role.

What do you think about Disney’s gargoyles, the tv show? I think it’s much better and mature and has some Batman the animated series vibes.
Hello Anon!
I was in the generation where I watched reruns of Gargoyles with my older siblings in the early/mid 2000's. We loved this show for the fact that it was much different than the animated shows Disney had at the time which were based on their IPs (Hercules, The Little Mermaid, and Goof Troop for example).
As for it was a better show, that depends on what you like to watch. It was diffidently influenced by BTAS (which ran from 1992-1995 but kept going on due to reruns) since that series took its audience seriously and knew it could still give its lessons but in a mature way.
The same could be said about Gargoyles. The creators took their audience seriously while also creating a show that was appropriate for kids and something parents could watch with them. It still had lessons but also characters who were more than comedic relief.
The villain is great, the cast of characters is memorable, and it's a series that may forget was a thing and is part of Disney Animation and storytelling.
Getting off track for a bit, but here is a video from NerdWire where they discuss the show and why it was so good and why people should watch it.

This. This is a great example why people want to become teachers.
That scene on KLAUS (2019) made me smile because that's what we want to see in our students. The simple joy and wonderment of learning. Even as simple as writing your name.
(Also you need to turn your phone if you want to watch the clip. Sorry desktop users....)

My #1 post of 2022
I've been sick for a few days so I can finally put my thoughts into words. I was in the middle of watching Infinity Train. Actually, I was on season 1 episode 3 and was going to continue watching the show when I had a chance.
But now I can't. I had to watch the news unfold by watching various TikTok users and reading Twitter threads. Then to realize that it was not only various animated shows that were taken off the HBO Max platform but also 200 episodes of Sesame Street.
And for what? A freaking tax credit? That's not how this works.
You see what Warner Brothers is doing is atrocious. Not only are they alienating an entire medium of entertainment, but they are also telling the animators, voice actors, editors, directors, and others that they don't matter.
Animation matters. The people who put their blood, sweat, and tears, and took time away from their families matter. The fans of these shows matter.
Warner Brothers is not going to save money, they are going to lose it in the worse way possible.

Come wear me out: Seinfeld (created by Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, 1989-1998)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seinfeld came into my life for the first time in 2015, when I semi-spontaneously decided to prolong my two-day summer visit in Warsaw and stay there until I organize the move of all my belongings to Vienna. This turned into two emotionally strenuous weeks of mailing, phone calling, waiting, and meeting the few of my friends who were not away for the summer, two weeks thickly peppered by Seinfeld's episodes. I'd heard of it earlier, I wasn't interested despite having developed love for Julia-Louis Dreyfus (Veep just started its fourth season, which could've been the year I cared about this series the most). At that time, Seinfeld became to me this weird combination of soothing and exhausting, one that cannot be replaced by anything potentially more exciting, as my brain would be too stressed to process and appreciate it otherwise. A few months ago, I revisited Seinfeld, having entered a similarly liminal phase of my life, and it has, again, dominated my watching experience until now, when I've just finished "The Betrayal," the eighth episode of the ninth (and last) season. Like the majority of the mainstream US TV productions of the 1990s, this one ticks all the familiar boxes, from casual homophobia and misanthropy to animal abuse, all of which are perpetuated even in the most recent seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm. At the same time, it's funny in self-deprecating, sarcastic, and witty ways, a quality that was either absent or diluted in the sitcoms of that time: this was paralleled only (maybe!) by the first four seasons of Newsradio, the last season of which displays erosion, which I am experiencing watching the last season of Seinfeld. I've recently had an idea of forming a band project that would perform a playlist of failed songs by The B-52's, most of which would come from their 1986's disjointed, heartbreaking, and touching Bouncing off the Satellites (completed after Ricky Wilson's death), as well as their least inspired musically (but most overtly political) Good Stuff. Seinfeld's season nine (Newsradio's fifth, Veep's and The Good Wife's sixth) feels similarly off: "The Betrayal," for instance, tries storytelling in reverse chronology, an annoying gimmick that fragments what could otherwise be a slightly funnier story. This is also a sign that this is coming to an end, that I am returning to films, not only those discussed at the illuminating Bad Romance and This Had Oscar Buzz podcasts.
