I saw your post about asoiaf character headcanons https://www.tumblr.com/hchollym/656295257177276416/who-are-some-of-your-head-cannons-for-characters and I’m begging for more Willas Tyrell headcanons! Anything you have! What is he into? You said he makes nerdy jokes. Whats his personality like?

How does he feel about the whole “potentially engaged to Sansa thing” and how did he feel when she was forced to marry Tyrion? (I cant imagine he would have been in love w her immediately if they married, bc she is 13 (3 years younger than Margery) and he is at least in his 24-27ish in current book canon)

It's been a while since I got an asoiaf ask, so this was fun! 😃

More Willas Tyrell Headcanons:

-He has brown curly hair and hazel eyes.

-He's definitely an introvert. He's very kind and genuine, and some people are drawn to that (like Oberyn), but he's not naturally charming or assertive, so he finds social situations a little more difficult to navigate.

-He enjoys astronomy (since he likes looking at the stars) and drawing/painting (since he drew pictures for Margaery when she was little).

-He's not great at expressing his feelings. He knows how to - he's very self-aware - but he has a tendency to hide his insecurities/sadness and keep things inside, because he already feels physically vulnerable due to his leg, and he's afraid to be emotionally vulnerable too.

-He loves all animals (including cats and dogs), and he always names them after historical figures.

-He can never admit it out loud (because he's a Tyrell), but he gets tired of the smell/sight of roses (they have far too strong of a floral scent). Because of this, he grows his own little garden of Iris Blue Rhythms (but he has it fenced off because they're toxic to dogs). These flowers are a pretty blue and lemon-scented (which is actually his favorite scent, because he loves how fresh it smells).

Headcanons About Willas' Thoughts on Sansa:

-I'm not sure he even knew about the plan until after it was ruined. Mace didn't know, and Olenna may very well have kept that secret close to her chest until after she arrived in King's Landing.

-Once he found out, he was definitely concerned by her age. Even by Westeros' standards, Sansa was still young for marriage, and since she was three years younger than Margaery (his baby sister), he saw her as a child.

-He protested an immediate wedding and argued for a long betrothal, and he only backed down when Margaery told him about the abuse Sansa suffered at Joffrey's hands. At that point, he realized that marrying her quickly was the only way to protect her, and he agreed because it was the chivalrous thing to do.

-He was horrified when he found out that she was married to Tyrion, because 1. Her age was still a factor, and he assumed that Tyrion would consummate the marriage; 2. Tyrion was a part of the family that killed Sansa's father, and he knew that would be traumatizing for her, especially because it meant that she would be stuck around the Lannisters for the rest of her life; and 3. He knew Sansa imagined a much "better" husband than a dwarf (and by Westeros' tradition, it was honestly an insult to marry her to Tyrion).

-He was also disappointed because he knew that Sansa was the best political match he could ever make, and even if she never loved him, he thought that she would at least enjoy Highgarden & he would keep her safe.

sansa/willas is a very nothingburger of a ship to me bc like. willas doesnt have a personality yet. BUT of all the straight sansa ships this one seems the most like. What If Sansa Was With A Man Who Was Nice. what if she still had to participate in westerosi patriarchy as a wife and a mother but it was with someone who was nice and loved her <3 and its like thats not quite what i personally am aiming for but i do like where your head is at

this is my thoughts!! its a cute what if where the tyrells arent QUITE as morally bleak and actually follow through with their promises to sansa<3 yeah its boring but thats clearly the point. like gun to my head i have to pick an adult man ship endgame for sansa. i pick willas<3

i dont like fanon niceguy willas and i especially find the way people visualise him as like a skinny fit hot guy lame but even if.... ok PAUSE imagine a rating scale with garlan on one side and olenna on the other title it 'tyrells ranked by how conniving they are'. UNPAUSE. so even if willas is more on the olenna side of conniving i still think he's a nice husband choice for sansa<3 also im a sansaery warrior first and foremost so if she marries willas she can cheat on him with her sister-in-law

How do you think an arranged marriage between Sansa and Willas would have been if she was betrothed to her not as she was in canon but if Ned had arranged a match between them while she was living in Winterfell with her family?

@esther-dot wrote a pretty good post on the subject of their compatibility.

I'm not a fan of the age gap, though. He's AT LEAST ten years older than she is, likely more.

We know Sansa is naturally more inclined to like boys closer in age to her (Waymar was probably 17 when they met and she was around 10, while 12-year-old Sansa considers Beric "awfully old" at 21-years-old.)

But an older Sansa might mind the age gap less, and marriage to an older husband was always going to be likely for her, in the normal course of things. Just like it is for Roslyn Frey and Edmure Tully. Sansa is very dutiful, and has a tendency to look for the best in the situation handed to her.

That said, we don't know how Willas would feel about marrying a girl younger than his own youngest sibling, his little sister Margaery. He might be open to it for the same reason everyone else is accepting of such unions, or he might be uncomfortable with the discrepancy in life experience. He seems like a mature, cerebral guy, so it might really matter to him. It's hard to predict. The older Sansa is, the likelier their chances of mutual happiness.

The age gap keeps me from shipping it, because it's a squick of mine, but from what we know on the surface, they have a lot in common and could make a very happy couple.

Sansa and Willas is intrinsically sad to me because he would’ve never let her name their children Eddard or Robb or Brandon, maybe Rickon but even then. They wouldn’t grow up to hate the Lannisters it be loyal through them because of them being their cousins.

It’d just be heartbreaking to witness the song Sansa built up shattering Like That. The only thing she might be able to have is the little girl who would not make Willas love her who looks exactly like Arya.
