I just mentioned this to @jerzwriter but in 2020 (before the world stood still) my husband turned 40 and we threw a big party that included a list of shots that you had to roll for.

So now that Elaine is confirmed to exist alongside the FRLG Kantrio (for the purposes of Masters, anyway), what are your thoughts? I don’t see anything in her interactions with Leaf that makes me think of Green, so I still think Green herself is on the table. Also, how old is Elaine in relation to the Kantrio? Like, are they teenagers by the time she sets out, or did she meet a 13-to-15-year-old Mina a few years before Alola happened? And now that Chase is on the table, do you think he’ll be portrayed as more of the Supporter function (the Co-Op in Let’s Go)?

Hi there @ether-gearhead! Great question! My thoughts are...I feel sorry for the let's go fans. I'm glad Masters is acknowledging Let's GO game in their universe but I feel like the characters are going to be under-served much like in their actual games. And this is all Gamefreak's fault by the way with them trying to have their cake and eat it too with the plot. "Oh yeah this takes place after the original Kantrio went on their own journey but we're going to reuse the same plot of RBGY on these new characters. People totally will love this and not call Chase/Elaine/Trace 'discount Red/Leaf-Green/Blue'" <- some genius at Gamefreak Because now we're stuck with the problem of these characters being in masters but more or less stripped of their own arc. They've already confirmed FRLG being the OG plot and Red having taken down Team Rocket in Kanto so what is there left for Chase and Elaine's story other than super cool Eevee and Pikachu? I do hope we get to see them interact more not just with the Kantrio (or fellow Eevee/Pikachu trainers) just so they can have a more concrete identity. They deserve more. It would be nice to see Elaine interacting with Mina to give a reference to her being in Let's Go and maybe expanding on her character that way, for example. As far as the possibility of Green being added, it is certainly possible now that we know they are willing to bring in Let's Go exclusive characters. Also if they can have both Kris and Lyra exist at the same time, then having Green and Leaf exist can work too. And about their ages...I'm guessing 11 for Elaine but the question really is how old are Red/Blue/Leaf because we know that their Pokemas sometime after HGSS so at least 14. With Chase being a supporter...it's possible. It wouldn't be the first time Pokemas introduced two counterparts with the same role (since Adaman and Irida are both master fair techs and Calem and Serena's base forms are also both techs). So him having a support Pikachu (to reference the co-op role) could work and it would round out the Pikachu squad of having at least one tech (SST Red), 2 strikes (Scottie/Bettie and Ash) and then a support.

“Bettie, what is this?” Paulo asks, exasperated.

Before him is a single picnic table, a colorful tablecloth adorning it. There’s a large cake in the center. A couple of balloons are tied to the table, and a small radio lays nearby in the sand.

“A party!” She shouts, spreading out her hands.

“A beach party, to be exact.” Her brother Scottie throws his arm around Paulo, a wide grin on his face.

“Seems a bit small for a party.” Paulo admits, “Where’s the rest of your team?”

“Maybe I just wanted to invite you, hm, ever think of that.” Bettie plops down her Pikachu on the table before grabbing a seat for herself. “Besides, this cake wouldn’t be enough for everyone.” 

Paulo’s a bit confused, but at this point he’s learned not to question the girl, so he lets Scottie cut him a piece of cake. It’s vanilla with colorful sprinkles baked into the cake, and the three devour the entire cake in record time. Then Bettie’s Pikachu turns on the radio, and Scottie drags him up from his seat to dance. Bettie joins in, and then Rockruff jumps out of his ball, and then all of them are up and moving to the upbeat song.

(Later, Scottie would pull Paulo aside and admit Bettie was worried about him after his battle with her, and decided to cheer him up. Later, Tina would arrive at Pasio and show how strong she has gotten in his absence. Later, Paulo would be standing in front of Team Rocket, about to make a choice.)

But all of that would happen later.

For now, the three can just dance to their hearts' content as the sun sets on the beach.
