my mother said she thought it was neat i was sewing myself a pair of trousers even if i had never been formally taught how to sew and my immediate response was to downplay saying that there were plenty of other people making their own garments but my second thought was wait! it is actually really cool what those people are doing therefore what i am doing is also neat i am always impressed by other people's projects yet i can't fully appreciate my own accomplishments

yknow what . i like you . shows you my exe ocs and also gives you little summaries of them underneath the read more cut and in the tags :3 ( desc in alt text 4 the 1st img ! ) - Nicky 🌊
in order: Rawr.EX3/EXD (any) imagine sonic.exe + 2010s sparkledog raver culture . that's Rawr. she likes waffles and is a virus exe who lives in a bootleg rom pack of the first 3 sonic games & a sonic crackers prototype Itazura, Guardian of Mischief (she/they/it/plush) first ever pc port oc!!! what it says on the tin. secret 8th guardian who loves nothing more than causing problems and playing life-threatening pranks on people. you can tell they're after you if you hear what sounds like jingling bells and giggling around your house in the dead of night. oh and plush's kyofu's kid 👍
Sew (any, no she/her) amorphous dimension travelling critter that uses sewing / crafting to make it's "skin" , typically based off of pre-existing people in the dimension. saw sonic and his super form and thought he was the COOLEST thing alive, so it chooses to resemble him :] Sink/Waterhog/Nicky (we use he/it but it doesn't rlly care /ref) literally just me lol , but from a 3rd person perspective he's a personal take on Mr. DJ's "Sink Sonic" concept . he's like 12-13ish and has way too much lore for me to summarise but fun fact : worldbuilding wise, he's a mish-mosh of the games, the Shogakukan sonic manga and a little bit of sonic x sprinkled in. :3
#scary / weird sonic tag 🩸🌭#sonic.exe#creepypasta#exe community#exe oc#sonic pc port#sink fnf#below the depths#chaos nightmare#scene kid#scenecore#scene oc#fun fact . that sweater i drew sink wearing is NOT the only one he has and every time i draw him he's wearing a different one. always#he never really has the same one on twice in my drawings unless im feeling a vibe and if you ever want to draw him you can also#make up a sweater for him to wear!!! just know he always has on long sleeves so youre free to give him a tshirt layered over a long sleeved#shirt too . you dont gotta limit yourselves like i do i just default to sweaters lmao#you can also do this with rawr but with like. ALL of her parts except the teeth (theyre consistently neon yellow or neon green)#so feel free to go nuts if you draw rawr. like actually. give them cool hoodies or clothes or new bang patterns idc go OFF that's the point#ita and sew are meant to be consistent as possible but tbh you could draw sew with different patch patterns and ita with a different bow#tl;dr I Love Customising My Little Guys and therefore everyone who wants to draw them should also give themselves that joy#also also. please tell me if the alt text is good. im not very good at IDs and i am chronically low on spoons so i never write them#this is to say that if you have the spoons and better descriptive vocab PLEASE write img ids for my art if you feel the need to#i want my art to be as accessible as possible and that includes allowing those with low visibility to be able to visualize my work

There is exactly zero photographic evidence of the dress I made for my senior ball back in 2001, and honestly I'm kinda grateful for that.
It was a choice. I had a very distinct vision, and I did not execute it well, but I did come up with something wearable and all the "this is homemade by a person who has taken exactly one home ec course" weirdness was hidden.
It was a floor length princess-seamed yellow satin gown.
Yes, yellow. Like.
Tumblr media
Sparkly golden yellow.
(like that gif? The fabric I got was exactly that color.)
Now. A yellow gown is not a bad thing. It was a very pretty color. But there were some odd choices made.
Ok, so first of all I had been struggling for 4 years to find formal gowns for various dances that I could wear a bra with. Because hello double Ds in freshman year, I was BUSTY. Strapless bras did not work for me (although I find myself wondering if bra tech has advanced since then). So what was my solution? I said "fuck it, I'm sewing a bra into this dress." And I did.
It worked really well, but then I had old tatty bra straps sticking out of my pretty satin dress.
So... trim to the rescue!
What did I use for trim? I'm so glad you asked.
I used a black feather boa for trim.
I whipstitched it all along the neckline, and made it into straps. Fluffy black feathers. On my pretty yellow dress. One like this:
Tumblr media
Just so you have an idea.
And then. I put one around the hem, too. For balance. Look, I don't have a sane explanation, I just really liked the color combo for some reason. It was 2001, I lived in wide-leg overalls with pockets big enough to fit several paperbacks, my fashion sense was non-existent.
I paired this dress with black suede pumps and black satin opera gloves, by the way.
Because of course I did.
Um. I don't know if I've really painted the right picture here.
You gotta picture Kate Hudson's "How To Lose A Guy" dress
Tumblr media
But like... cheaper fabric, poorly tailored, and trimmed with BLACK MARABOU FEATHER BOAS. I cannot emphasize that enough.

that little scene of Kabbu giving away the green ranger plushie was so cute
...but now I do kinda want a thing of Leif and Vi making him a new one (either collaborationally or independently). They are Not Very Good At It, but, Kabbu being Kabbu, among other things, means that that doesn’t matter much

Do you wear dresses? Do you have a physical form? If you answered yes to both, you're exactly who I'm looking for! If you answered no to either one, have a great day. :)
I'm collecting what i hope will be a wide variety of human measurements for a project! The very short of it is that i am trying to create a one-size-fits-all dress that actually delivers on its promise for once.
I am more than happy to share details of my scheme if you're interested, but the point I'm currently trying to make is please give me your measurements! Can't have a database without data :)

I will say, I am impressed with my Duluth Trading Company Flexpedition pants that I have been wearing consistently for work for 2 years. They are only now starting to give out in the thighs. And really just the seams letting loose. The fabric is thinned, yes, but still sturdy. So far the black pair I have went first, but like all black pants, they seemed to fit tighter in general, so that was bound to happen. The lavender/heather colored ones have been doing really well, and I just noticed a hole in one today.
Yes, DTC stuff is expensive and I don't shop there often, but when I do, it LASTS. These pants were WELL worth the money (plus they were on sale!) to stand up to the abuse they get. They don't get snagged on equipment or boxes, they are flexible and light, comfy in all weathers, with multiple deep pockets. Once I can't repair them anymore, I will get more. It is just nice not to have pants that immediately get destroyed to satisfy the Thick Thigh Goddess.

#so like i dug deeper bc i remembered this one post from like. a couple pf years ago before i had seen the work it was on#and i finally found it#and these people had said that the actual translation to this one thing#would be this guy calling these two martial brothers childhood sweethearts#and like. they were saying that this was the proof that they didnt count themselves as family in any way#and saying how everyone in the original language must sew it this way#and that were not reading into it enough and calling them actual brothers isnt right#when like. the Actual author has said that specifically for this work people just dont read into it the right way#like this guy that literally kills this guys lover and is the reason he cant see and winds up killing himself#is one of the most popular ships (according to this one person)#and she has made a comment that people took as her saying its weird to ship gay people (when hee novel is gay ....)#when in actuality shes saying that they put their shipping goggles on for every little thing#like. shes even said she doesnt want these two shipped together#(and keep in mind the actual translation may be someone calling them 'sweethearts'#but if you look further its 1 never mentioned again by any party#2 its used for a straight pairing. the speaker isnt saying theyre actually sweethearts.#hes saying theyre acting like schoolgirls in how they dont want to fight each other)#like. they use the fact its a big ship (though its below the actual couple and a fanon couple for the other guy)#....when Literally higher than that (still according to this one person) an actual adopted sibling pair are shipped together#(even translated to their language theyre still called adopted siblings. they know what theyre referencing)#like. idk. its also the fact they use a mistranslated character for one of their names#when the Actual translation is 'chant' they said it was 'moaning'#.they also self identify as a problematic rpf stan so idk whats going on There#its also noted that this isnt actually translated to it in the official translation#like. im not saying those people cant lie. but mame a note if something isnt understandable or in place#which. they dont do#its just the fact its mentioned by one guy in such a way while the actual siblings call each other siblings#and are canonically disgusted by people saying theyll be together#one even offers one his belt and he instantly said he didnt want it even if he couldnt have his li ribbon#this is all over the place ik but the actual work is about how one is purposefully lied about by everyone. taking a strangers word is. yea

WOF tribe Merchant/Trading booth concepts:
Hey folks! This one was the recent winner of this WOF poll, so here’s my concept art that headcannons trading in Pyyria.
Read below cut for close-ups of the individual booths + the thought process / headcannons behind the design choices: 👇
Tumblr media
Skywings: The Sky Kingdom’s mountain ranges provide plenty of pasture for raising sheep. As such, Skywing shepherds benefit from traveling to sell their wool, dyes, fabric, and woven tapestries. Many of these merchant tables also include herbs grown exclusively in the mountains, or ibex drinking horns that can be strapped on a dragon’s shoulder & carried in flight.
Along with goods, Skywing merchants may offer sewing services to fix tears, burn marks, or other fabric damage. They are sought out for their quality clothing, and most fabric across Pyyria originated from a Skywing’s talons.
Tumblr media
Mudwings: Mudwings’ abundant food & cooking skills are envied almost anywhere in Pyrria. Their swamps have fertile soil, responsible for hosting diverse crops which can be purchased as produce at merchant stalls. For those lucky enough to find a traveling Mudwing merchant, the promise of a delicious dish can be whipped up and served at the stall in no time. Along with produce goods, Mudwings sell weaved baskets, spices, and cooking ware.
Tumblr media
Sandwings: Sandwing booths offer luxuries of the desert: It’s most common to find accessories such as gold carved jewelry or musical instruments such as drums, lyres, & mandolins for sale. Though, even more sought out across Pyrria is Sandwing tattoos/piercings, which are done within the merchant areas. Ink etchings on papyrus paper are stationed outside their tents to showcase designs. All which can be selected, and poked into the skin with a tapping stick and plant dye ink by a trained talon.
Tumblr media
Seawings: SeaWings sell a variety of ocean related goods; taking a share in the fish market with Icewings. Outside of food, there are den decorations like driftwood carvings, accessories such as seashell & pearl jewelry, and rope nets weaved by expert Seawing sailors. Some Seawings even sell fishing equipment, canoes, or offer sailor knot tying instructions to curious dragon buyers.
Tumblr media
Nightwings: During the war, it was near impossible to find a Nightwing merchant. Most refused to participate in merchant territory, mostly as a way to keep up with their tribe’s mysterious nature.
Though in the more shady, unground parts of the market you can buy from a huge selection of obsidian weaponry, the sharpest in Pyyria. No one knew initially how Nightwings smithed so many weapons, or why, until their secret volcano kingdom and the intention to invade the rainforest was discovered. Then forging armor & weapons became clear. Along with a vast armory, for the right price, some Nightwing merchants offer Prophecies & Nightwing Literature (not always guaranteed to always be reliable) and assassin services as well (very reliable).
Tumblr media
Rainwings: Though Rainwings haven’t been part of Pyyria’s trading for years, they have a vast hold on dragon medicine. An apothecary of herbs, salves, and remedies are all offered for various ailments due to the rainforest’s abundant resources. Along with medicinal goods, many Rainwings are fruit vendors, promising to any hesitant meat-eating dragons that such an array of flavors isn’t to be missed. Though, their fruit selling pitches often fall flat to most other predominantly meat-eating tribes.
Tumblr media
Icewings: Icewings have everything a dragon could need to brace the cold, with a selection of goods only found in the most frigid regions of Pyyria. Furs, bone jewelry, and fresh fish (thanks to frost breath) are served on ice. Though Icewings themselves don’t require fur to withstand the cold, it’s considered fashionable and common in upper ranks to wear fur as a status symbol. Since metal is hard to smith without fire & in cold temperatures, fur and bone are more accessible to Icewings for clothing statements.

Tbh thrifting would be a lot more fun if skinny ppl weren't already insentivised to buy and throw away clothes willy nilly
Bc i promisse that there is not a single piece of clothing that will fit me at a thrift shop
Everything stops at a size xl if im lucky. Mostly it's all size small or medium.

I'm seeing a lot of people say that punk fashion is expensive and inaccessible, which is very wrong. here is a list of some ways you can make punk fashion easier, cheaper and more accessible for you, since that's... kinda the whole point.
others are encouraged to add onto this!! (just don't recommend corporations like amazon. not cool.)
1. patches!! you don't need to buy them. DIY patches are not ugly or boring. in fact, they are encouraged here!! DIY, in my opinion, is always the best thing to do when it is an option and is safe to do so.
2. speaking of DIY, spikes!! you can make them!!
cut the top and bottom off of an empty can. cut down the middle of the cylinder and flatten it, so it's just a flat rectangle of metal.
cut out a shape that is kind of a third of a circle, but around 3/4 of the curved edge is taken up by triangle shapes. (I'm not very good at describing, so here's a badly drawn picture)
Tumblr media
roll it into a cone, leaving the 4 triangles sticking out at the bottom. this bit is optional, but you can fill it with hot glue to make it more sturdy, just be careful touching the hot metal. I tend to hold the cone by one of the triangles with a bit of fabric wrapped around my fingers for this bit. cut 4 small holes in your fabric in this kind of shape:
Tumblr media
and put the spiky bits of triangle through the holes. fold the triangles in on themselves to secure the spike in place. boom. spike obtained. this is one I made and attached to a little piece of fabric to test this method out:
Tumblr media
3. battle vests!! (like the base jackets). the best places to buy these are charity shops and second hand websites in my opinion, but if anyone else knows any better options, please reblog with those!!
a good trick I find works well on eBay is to filter search results to your country (or state? can you do that in the US? idk) so that a: fast delivery because local, and b: all the sellers of everything that shows up are in YOUR TIME ZONE.
why is this important? when people sell something for really cheap, it goes FAST. check eBay at like, 2am or something. all the scalpers in your area are asleep. grab the cheap stuff while they can't.
4. sewing!! want patches, but can't sew for whatever reason? I've heard of a lot of people with joint conditions like arthritis complain about the inaccessibility of patch stuff, and that does sound extremely annoying, however:
safety pins!! while they are still a little fiddly, they're much less work so you don't have to fiddle about for long. if you can, you could even ask a friend to help, since it doesn't take long at all I'm sure someone will be willing to help out!! (I know I would, but that's just me, and I love this kind of thing). safety pins on clothes are also widely considered to be a symbol of solidarity, so if anything, you're adding some extra love and meaning to your patch pants/battle jacket.
if that's still too fiddly, fabric glue is always an option. unfortunately this means you won't be able to remove/reposition patches, at least without leaving a massive patch of residue, but if you're ok with that then fabric glue is probably your best bet.
for people who prefer sewing: as for where to get the thread, I've heard a lot of people recommending dental floss, as it's apparently much cheaper and works just as well. I haven't tried this myself so can't confirm that, but I thought I'd share it regardless.
5. where to get fabric!! old clothes. rip em up. you don't need any kind of fancy fabric from the craft store. my patches are made of old jeans that I grew out of.
don't have any old clothes and you don't want to waste any good ones? I'm not sure about other countries, but in the UK, as long as you're not on private property (trespassing), dumpster diving is perfectly legal.
I definitely ;) do NOT encourage ;) trespassing rich people's land ;) to steal from their dumpsters ;)
or tbh it doesn't matter too much how rich the person is, since it's all going to landfill anyway. if it's in the bin, it's free game, but you didn't hear that from me. ;)
please add onto this where you can!! and if I missed something or got anything wrong, add that on too!!
