#she's living she's serving

jackieshauna and sainthood is such a rich topic and it's been stuck in my head for a while now. jackie definitely has saint vibes, but i think there's an argument to be made that shauna is the saint and jackie is the god she devotes her life to. shauna constructs this elaborate shrine of punishment and shame that at it's core is a twisted form of worship. she suffers because of jackie and she suffers for jackie and that suffering defines her entire existence. the saints are all tragic, after all. and it adds another layer to their connection if shauna sees jackie as her saint but shauna has actually become the saint, just like she tried to become jackie. it's yet another form of consumption and jackie's actual body was the communion that started it all
i also love the idea of saints having visions of god while shauna gets visions of jackie

…and another thing:
If we’re removing Sokka’s sexism from the live action show, what point does even introducing the Kyoshi warriors and/or Suki serve?
The whole purpose of that episode is for Sokka to learn a lesson about his narrow worldview. There’s a small bit of Kataang jealousy stuff and a generic action scene towards the end. The Kyoshi warriors exist in that episode narratively to prove Sokka’s sexism wrong, and Suki is the forefront of that. It’s her actions towards bettering Sokka that even make her relevant to him and the rest of the story.
If she’s just gonna be there as a love interest that they encounter, then the weight of her purpose that makes the relationship feel valuable is lost. She’s just another pretty girl Sokka likes. She’s redundant when Yue is thrown in the mix later. The reason she continues to be important is that impression she made on him. Without that, there’s not much (not saying she isn’t compelling on her own, mind you).
And the Kyoshi warriors, while cool in concept, now only serve a singular purpose of just being another force on Aang’s side, whereas again they serve to strengthen the idea of women empowerment in the cartoon along with that. That feeds into Kyoshi’s vision of why she even started the group. Now they’re just some task force. Cool. Why even have them there?
Any adaptation that reduces characters’ importance in the story to nothing, then throws them in anyway because they want the nostalgia jerkers to clap is NOT a good adaptation. Unless they somehow develop some other motivation for Suki to bring and maintain her value to the story, removing her importance to Sokka renders her useless to the plot.

rod makes me so so insane even all these years later. logan who believes the lie that he’s more cutthroat than he is, lying to himself that he’d cut and run when it was time, only to cling to scraps of affection. mona who doesnt carry the same defensiveness about trust that colt and logan do, who refused to let herself be tied down, taking the fall for a pretty girl once more, finally finding someone worth trusting. colt watching his father burn up and wish only that his son escapes a life he never knew any differently from, only for his death to solidify colt’s reclamation of it.

Jinshi told Maomao to refrain from such a bet [the one with Lakan] from now on because if she loses, she lives with someone else.
Maomao was like she would only serve alcohol to Lakan & nobody else but Jinshi was like [nope not even that].
Maomao: "What's the matter….."

do you ever think about how harrows curse is to keep living. to live in a house destined to die, with dead parents, in an empire built on death. to live as a grave, a memorial, an avenging. how everything she has ever loved or even known at all slipped between her fingers just so she could keep standing. the children of the ninth, her parents, mortus, ortus, gideon, nona. harrow is a walking tombstone and it is the thing that keeps her going and it is still not enough. it is not enough to bring them back and it is not enough to give their deaths meaning

I'm suffering Fates Brain Rot so I drew OCs? Logical!
Nytis (blondie) is a demon cleric who hates feeling any form of pain but lives to cause others pain (he does indeed see the irony of becoming a cleric). In order to help protect himself he forms a pact with Elnae (red gal) and she basically fights in his place if there is a threat of injury. She also does little errands like info-getting and sneaking around for him.
The thing is, while he can hurt others no problem and it's satisfying, he was granted the ability to heal others after he swore allegiance to a deity he holds no respect nor regard for. He honestly doesn't care about whatever gods exist. HOWEVER. As a demon, simply using holy magic actually hurts him so he's a pretty stingy healer and has a sword "just in case" he has to fight.
That said, he does actually have one thing he refuses to let go unpunished: a kid being injured/cursed. He might be a messed up demon but he draws the lines at letting kids suffer. When El asks about it and is like "haha what, did you have a bad childhood too, buddy?" he's like "???? How else would I end up like this? As a cleric? Hurting myself to heal? What the hell is wrong with you YES I had a bad childhood."
