Small choices matter. They help us. And they can hurt us.
I remind myself of this a lot.
Because in my lifetime, I’ve been down a lot of slippery slopes I never even realized I had started sliding down until I was near the bottom.
The addict doesn’t wake up one morning with the goal of being an addict. It’s one drink. One hit. One line. Just one. And then – just one more and just one more.…
Top page features Pat, the Bard turned King- he was just here to look pretty and sing songs for The Queen and be a good dad to Dimi ;w; It's not his fault the world took her too soon by illness leaving him unprepared to run a kingdom and fight off an Orc invasion (Thats the enemy ruler's daughter Mayari, whom starts to visit him in the dungeon and ends up considering him her best friend ;C; hOW CUTE IS THAT)
The second is Veronica, an Older Gorgan woman, an irredeemable, self serving and scheming villain of Royal Punch, and god I love her- the very reason Ivan the Minotaur has to hide away in a small village and keep his head down, He cost her big time when he brought down her illegal boxing operation and by gosh does she want revenge ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courier’s part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it could’ve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they don’t). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.
It’s so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it could’ve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.
Trying to look up romance games I can get on the switch because stardew valley isn’t scratching that itch (love everything else, the romance part leaves so much to be desired for me tho) but apparently my standards are too high 😔
To be clear this is not a prediction of a queer romance in the show because I'd never put my hope in a Disney/Marvel production like that but.
I don't know whether to side-eye Loki S2 or myself for the fact that my genuine read on it four episodes in is that the natural culmination is Loki having to choose between Mobius and Sylvie. And choosing Mobius
the amount of time i spend thinking about Even carrying the metacrisis doctor’s fob watch is really quite disproportionate to how much ive fleshed out that part of the story in my head
A lot of people see Ravenous’ ending as grim and futile since General Slauson eats the stew despite Boyd’s victory against Ives but, respectfully, I disagree with that.
Here is the thing about Slauson eating the stew: Slauson was ALWAYS going to eat the stew. If cannibalism in Ravenous is a metaphorical extension of American imperialism/expansionism then, symbolically, Slauson has been eating the stew since the day he was born and will keep doing so until the day he dies.
So no, Boyd, as an individual, cannot take down the system, but he can still do SOMETHING. And the choice to resist the system rather than continue to perpetrate it once you’ve realized its evil is still a meaningful one.
To me, that’s the point of the ending: Slauson was always going to eat the stew, but Martha getting to walk away and save herself because Boyd finally made the right choice (a choice he couldn’t have made without her, I should add) still matters.
Willow you are absolutely right there are some incredibly nasty people in healthcare—especially as providers/workers.. maybe it’s the prestige or the power trip that attracts the most self centered cruel two faced gunner personalities sometimes but it’s so messed up I hate it… it also attracts some truly caring and hardworking people as well like you!! So I guess like nature it seeks a balance 🤷🏽♀️
you know, i originally wanted to respond to this with a voice note of a little rant that brought this discussion on—but it's only so disheartening and sickening and i don't even want to spread more of that into the world ! 😔
but you're so sweet to bring some positivity along with your message 🥹 the world needs it 🥹 and i'm so pleased to have it right here in our lil corner of the internet 🥹
I am still doing my analysis/character study writeups on Trahearne (and Mordy!), I'm just having some trouble accurately articulating some of my thoughts... But I'm sitting here re-reading a section I wrote about Trahearne's life mostly being one of having no agency, and how the Commander is one of the few if not the only person that ever seemed to actually give him a choice regarding a major direction of his life, even if it wasn't really a choice he could refuse, and how that's likely why he valued the Commander so closely to himself.
been going back and forth on edits with an editor and was initially frustrated with the cuts he wanted to make. Eventually I straight up told him "this was my inspiration for the piece. These are the feelings that need to come through" and guess what? He didn't realize that and two more rounds of edits later, we landed on a really awesome piece that made me tear up. Moral of the story: your editor wants to help you make the best story you can . Be open to changes, but also if it seems like your editor doesn't understand the piece, speak up!
"My body, my choice" also stands for trans people's access to healthcare and medical transition, by the way.
If you think bodily autonomy should be only accessible for cis women, then spoiler: you're not defending bodily autonomy.
Bodily autonomy is for everyone. Not just the few categories of people that you judge acceptable. Because you need to be reminded that cis males make the rules and to them, women will never be acceptable.
Live now - with as many acts of compassion, sacrifice, courage, and kindness - that you can muster. Large, small, doesn’t matter, just keep at it. Even if you don’t see the reward yourself, know that it makes a difference. ♥️
