A note for the fellow strugglers in TS1

Hey, it's Seth! I know how frustrating TS1 can be (considering it's age and being the first game in the franchise), so I am here to introduce a list of personal must have mods and programs, which I always use whenever I re-install the game to make it more user-friendly. The list itself is quite short, actually, since it only consists of my personal gameplay choice mods. So there's no building objects, deco, skins and heads there.

MODS AND CC

This calendar will report the day of the month to your sims and -- and this is amazing -- even introduce a concept of days off. Sims should have about every 6th and 7th day off. - THE ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE. It's in the painting section and costs 15 simoleons. Works a bit wonky with children, but otherwise a very useful mod to have.

Call work/give interview job phone plugins to give your sim a day off. - I use those mostly when sims have to take care of the baby.

A family mod by Gothi_family_4ever. - another must have in my collection, introduces the familial relationships in game! No more inappropriate relationships between relatives. It's a 0 simoleon painting, which you can delete once you've done.

A hacked frigde mod by the same author. - allows your sims to put their food into the refrigirator, call the household members for the meal, and requires the usage of products (like meat and in-game vegetables) in order to cook a dish instead of insta-paying. You kinda have to build a grocery shop for your sims, so they could buy the required products, I prefer to install the stalls into the pre-existing farm shop in Old Town area. P.S DON'T FORGET TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INSTALLING BEFORE DRAGGING ANY FILE. As much as I love this mod, I don't, for example, use their cereal add-on.

The Elixir ExpressiBuy Computer. - a computer that allows you to buy any in-game buyable product (like vacation gifts, grocery, tonics, etc etc) in stock. They won't magically appear overnight but would be brought by a special courier npc. It also allows your sim to research logic, creativity, culinary and mechanical skills. I'd also recommend diving further into their site, since they have a lot of cool and unique gameplay content as well!

MagiCo's Bookshelf of Dimensional Storage - the official Maxis item, that was in the 'Get Cool Stuff' section. Allows your sims to keep their magic coins and ingrediends in special bookshelf storage, I mostly use it so the kids could get the ingredients for their spells from the adults. It is in the Magic section, btw

The Magic Mirror - the only outright cheat object that I have in my possesion. This mirror refreshes your sims needs, builds skills, friends, stardom, etc. Saves headaches when you are not in the mood to fullfill your sims' mood, ha-ha.

PROGRAMS

SimEnchancer 3D - basically a program that allows you to change the basic sim's attributes, including their heads and bodytypes. If you are familiar with TS2's SimPE, you'd have the idea how it works. NOTE: if you have to run your TS1 game as an administrator, you'd have to open it up in the same vein as well. And don't forget to backup your UserData files when you are working with it, just in case!

The Sims Creator - the official Maxis program for players to create some basic skins content. The program is only suitable to work with head and skins textures and not the meshes! Likewise, if you have to open the game as an administrator, you'd have to do the same with that program.

NEIGHBORHOODS

This section for the fellow premade enjoyers out there, who mostly played TS2 before and decided to give the local premades a chance as well

Here you can download the original UserData 1 and 2 if you want to reset your neigborhoods as they were if you had already played the neighborhood before and want to start anew. The Sims Wiki also gives you an instruction for how to do so.

And here you can download the additional Maxis families like The Hatfield, The Maximus, The Mashuga, The Snooty, The Jones and that weird agent White House familes. For some reasons, some of them refused to function in my game, so I had to install the empty houses and recreate them by hand, using the SimEnchancer and Wikia to give them appropriate skills and careers.

OTHER

Sims 1 Alternative UI - refreshes your game by a margin. I really recomend this one!

THE MISSING SIMS FROM 1 and 4 (Custom Stealth Hood)

This has been a long time in the works. @profesionalpartyguest​ has probably stopped talking to me over it; @justwierzba​ has probably forgotten about it (and me); and @knut-rocketman​ has probably stopped caring about it, if they ever did.

This is a custom Stealth hood, with some townies, and a lot of ancestors, containing sims from The Sims, and The Sims 4. It also has lots for 7/9 families, including the families which you care about the most. For myself I call it Caldera Lessaules.

Continued below the cut: 

From Neighborhood 1 we have the Roomies (bless their sapphic souls). From Old Town we have Claire Charming, and the Hicks. We also have the Snooty Patooties, because they’re iconic and someone had a headcanon.

From The Sims 4 we introduce 3 families from my Willow Creek - Pancakes, BFFs, and Spencer-Kim-Lewis - including the all important Lydia Spencer (she’s a townie). Also say hi to the Sims 4 Roomies (the New Girl spoofs), the only original family in Oasis Springs (unless you count Johnny Zest, but he’s all tied up with the Landgraabs). We also have the Harris family from Eco Living Newcrest Harbour whatever that pack and town are called.

But don’t just think I’ve left you with families with nowhere to live, there's lots too!

The Pancakes, BFFs, SKLs, and Sims 4 Roomies have the strict recreations-within-limitations - without CC - you know and love from Willow Creek. The Cacti Casa is a new recreation for this hood, the others are cleaned exports from Willow Creek.

For the Sim Lane Roomies, say hello to my labour of love ✨inspired✨ recreation of 10 Sim Lane. It has Foundations! The floor and wall coverings are close calls to the original. Claire Charming and the Hicks have their houses also recreated with Foundations. I found all three Sims 1 recreations really fun to build, and I love how their energies have translated across, especially for the Hicks’ Trailer and 10 Sim Lane. There is also an additional variant of Claire’s House I made for personal reasons.

The Snooty Patooties and the Harris family’s houses haven't been recreated - the latter because I don’t actually own the EP, the former because I would have to base it off of Marka93’s as I have no clue how to get the Downloadable Sims into my Sims 1 game. Besides, they’re added extras, just slip them into your Main Hood, Viper Canyon, Downtown, Bin Lots, it's up to your imagination! Feel free to export the lots and plop them in your main hoods, or just delete the subhood, its fine, I guess…

I hope you enjoy this labour of hate and love. Its an essential ingredient in my own Uberhoods. I genuinely miss these sims - especially the Sims 1 ones - so much in my games otherwise.

Special Thanks :

This version of “Caldera Lessaules” is officially a testing version, however nothing core is expected to change. That said, make a backup before adding it to your game. I am not responsible if your savefile becomes a BFBVFS and you don't have a backup. I may decide to add or tweak things in the hood, like ancestors, additional townies, etc, or roll-out fixes if people find errors which I haven’t picked up, but please do not hold off downloading if this is something which you'd think you'd love!

The creators mentioned in the first paragraph made most of the ancestors between them. ProfesionalPartyGuest also made the Harrises. Without them my hood would be ancestorless, which depending on if you care about Character File Count, is a good or a bad thing.

Howling Wolf Tattoos

So, you all probably thought that I’d gotten tired of my current project and moved on to greener pastures. Not yet. I’m still liking how this city looks at night. So, I’ve been adding stuff that my stupid Sims say they need.

And apparently, they “need” someplace to get a tattoo. Who knew! I already had a fancy-smancy salon for all my snooty Sims to go to, to get all beautified, but nothing for my run-of-the-mill Sims to get all inked up with “Sorry, Wanda! You were the love of my miserable life!” or “Mom, never knew ya, but I’m thinkin we must have met once” messages. To commemorate all those forgettable life milestones, doncha know. So, today I built them a place they’ll feel comfortable visiting. And it won’t break the bank!

I wanted something a tad different form all those other tattoo lots you see online, so I built this derelict gas station - which is owned my town tattoo artist. When he’s not pumping gas - or trying to con Sims into getting their perfectly fine cars “fixed” by him - he supplements his income by doing tattoos. And so what if he’s blind in one eye and has cataracts on the other! He gets the job partially done. Most of the time.

So, this is the main level, where he tries to weasel his way into my gullible Sims’s pockets, by assuring them that their perfectly fine car is on its last legs. But he can save the day and get them back on the road in no time! And while they wait, they can relax in his lovely, over-priced cafe eating expired items from the vending machines. For those Sims who’ve only dropped in to get a tattoo, he tells them to “follow the wolf!” up the stairs.

Upstairs is the place where all the tattoo magic takes place. I have never actually had a tattoo and never been in a tattoo parlor, so I’m guessing that real ones don’t look anything like this one. But it was fun to do. And I got to use a lot of grungy CC - which is my favorite kind. So, thank you to cyclonesue for her factory sets, @bioniczombie and Sandy for their CC, and @grandelama for your curbing. I swear, I use it on almost every lot. And everyone else, whose CC I’ve used. I still have to add some resident “rats” with fog emitters, but I’ll do that when I place this lot in my “play” town. 

I did do some nice lots, but this one was the one I had the most fun making.

Snooty Patooty House

You were supposed to put this house originally at 2 Sim Lane, but I always put it at 8 Sim Lane since it already has a big house. Didn't wan to bulldoze it because @grandelama did a great job with it. Needs to be furnished I think, but it looks good in the neighborhood ground view.

The landscaping on this lot is a bit crap. I'm going to go back and detail the flower beds with edging like the rest of the builds. And maybe switch out some of the items later on. Had to compromise on the ts1 version of something that's completely different in ts3. Trying to keep my CC to just game mods and CAS stuff. Including my stuff lol It's so haaarrrd because I want to cram 400 patterns in the game. :P

I can’t draw to save my life, so I’m cheating by using a Sims version of my Marvin, but I’m throwing my asshole into the pile.

Marvin O’Hare - Heterochromia. Left blue eye, right brown eye -Blue diamond tattoo on his forehead because why not? -Hates dressing down, is always in something fancy because he a bitch -His hair is actually shaved on both sides but Sims sucks for hairstyles and so does CC.  -Doesn’t have a cat mask, because he’s not a cat. Marvin wears a deer mask that almost always is pushed up on his head to keep his hair out of his face. Rarely ever actually on his face -full sleeve tattoo on his right arm -cernunnos on his left forearm -have I mentioned how much of an asshole he is? -loves wearing dangly earrings, always wearing them in both ears.  -10 holes in each ear, never matches anything or is symmetrical. Could be 5 in one ear and one in the other it depends on his mood- -Arrogant and snooty bitch. -Always striving to be more powerful than he really is. -Is already really powerful.

Some sim downloads

I don’t usually put sims up for download, mostly because, well... I’m not very skilled when it comes to sim-making. But I saw @dramallamadingdang‘s post here and the thought of having one of my failed founders (tbh all my founders are failures because I have no attention-span...) walking around sounded fun! 

So I extracted some of my favourites with simPE and uploaded them :) No CC because half of it has been deleted and the rest might have been subject to simPE flag experiments so it’s better to be on the safe side :( But I included some pictures of what they used to look like down below!

If anyone wants to download them, feel free! (I don’t think anyone will, but just in case!) You can do whatever you want with them, so change as much as you like (features/names/personality/use as a base/etc)!

First up is Frederick Bixby, a quite snooty and sheltered “aristocrat”! Be warned: his genes produce very... awkward... looking children

Her sister has no name because I kept changing my mind and was only decisive enough to settle on one name >__> Two options it’s really just one option since they’re identical without CC but shhhh... in one download!

Nautical Nantucket v.2 - CC FREE

I first built this estate before the Cat & Dogs expansion pack came out so I revamped it a little, and now I like this version much better. If you have rich snooty sims in need of a home, here you have it. It was inspired by an actual home in Nantucket so if that doesn't say snooty booty then ..
