#kingdom hearts 0.2 birth by sleep a fragmentary passage #kh0.2 #the world within #dwarf woodlands #realm of darkness #scenery #my gif #this world is interesting because it's so different from the rest #the sky looks like some sort of dome with triangular screens that project a broken glitchy sky #almost as if it takes place in some kind of data simulation #which i don't think is the case but it adds to the feeling of aqua's experiences here not feeling ''real'' #i mean this place hardly even resembles what the original world is supposed to look like #like it changed to match aqua's psyche. forcing her to look at her own reflection and confront her own fears; doubts; guilt; and sadness #actually now that i think about it this feels extremely fitting for this world #it's like when snow white was running through the forest and was so afraid that it made the trees around her look alive and dangerous #except aqua has to wander this broken world and face her dark thoughts that take shape by looking exactly like her #she's constantly running in and out of mirrors into rooms that make no logical sense like the endless staircase and the pillar maze #there are ghostly echoes spoken in her own voice that mock her by saying no one can save her and no one wants to. it's chilling #i can't even say for sure if the phantom aquas are actually physically there or if it's all in her head #similar to how she'd see visions of terra and ven #she's such a tragic character

#luffy is a character that i feel everybody including the viewer is meant to kind of underestimate at first #to chalk him up to a naive fucking idiot that's gonna get himself killed by something more powerful because he overestimated himself #you keep waiting until he bites off more than he can chew #yknow you wait until he finally meets that match that makes him hesitate and think ''i'm not strong enough‚ i need to improve'' #like so many shonen do nowadays where the main character gets humbled by someone more powerful than the level they're at #but with luffy that just.... doesnt happen #no matter how fucking awful and horrifying the series gets sometimes and how high the stakes rise with more genocidal villains #luffy acts as the humanized force of unshakable freedom that cant be silenced for good #luffy is a protagonist but he is also an all-encompassing metaphor that seeps from every pore of the series #and i feel extremely strongly about what he represents and the way he can change YOU and make u feel the hope u thought u lost #he is a character but he is most importantly a vessel for a story that‚ at heart‚ wants you to laugh and dream and love unabashedly #he is not a mascot lil shonen protag created for the sake of telling the viewer ''killing bad! friendship important!'' #that motherfucker is built to inspire you to be shamelessly happy to fucking live and laugh and dream big idiot dreams #its hard to describe what he fucking Does to your brain to people used to consuming trash anime with basic niceguy protags #but luffy isnt just a protag. he is a feeling that you learn to adopt. but the depth of that cant be described until you feel it #its a shame people get so scared of the episode count because theyll never experience one of the most soul-changing series ever made #luffy is just one guy in a series full of characters so nuanced and fleshed out they could have their own damn shows

the reonagisagi dynamic is so fascinating to watch. reo, who used to be jealous but got over it pretty quick, is actually in pretty good terms with isagi. he would go bowling with him, invite him to karaoke, tease him, talk about what path they both will take for their individual futures in bllk.

but there's also this unspoken situation of how reo is still chasing nagi, who is chasing isagi, and all the while isagi is just here greeting his friends not really thinking about chasing or surpassing either of them specifically lol.

the reokunigiri trio is so fun to watch too, because here we have three boys who banded together because they got left behind. reo and kunigami bonded through their loss in the second selection. and now they're reuniting again with reo and chigiri happy to see an old friend back. all the while, kunigami is still in his "don't talk to me, I'm not the person I once was" phase, which nobody in bllk honestly cares for lmaooo. chigiri is NOT having it.

love how nobody really gives a shit about this new kunigami. oh he's a noel noa copy now? so what, reo's also a copycat. he has a mean right kick? pfft isagi still relied on his left kick in the last match. ooooh he's all edgy now? cool, whatever, chigiri doesn't give a fuck

there's sooooo many things that's simmering in the air with these five that they're quietly acknowledging without fussing over too much about it. so fascinating to watch them interact.
