I hope people know that it is not their fault for deciding to consume the content of someone who seemed to be a genuinely good person. It was not a waste of time to be genuinely happy and interested in a content creator that probably helped take your mind off of issues that might have been happening in your life. It is also okay to feel betrayed and hurt, to let yourself feel these very valid emotions because as much as these content creators can positively impact your health they can also negatively impact it. At the end of the day only your own health matters so make sure you're taking care of yourself as best as you can.

Very long post and a lot of across the Spiderverse spoilers incoming:

I finally watched across the spider-verse yesterday and I couldn’t stop thinking about the Miles & Gwen and Percy & Annabeth parallels in that movie.

Starting with Gwen and Annabeth because they are not as similar as Miles and Percy but there’s still things to talk about. Gwen being Spiderman ending with her friend dying and getting blamed for it by her dad making her run away reminded me a lot of Annabeth being a demigod ending with monsters attacking her family a lot and getting blamed for it by her dad making her run away. Running away to a place where people have special abilities like you and fitting in and learning about it, thinking you can never go back to where you came from. Both had one of their only friends die (Peter) or at least be dead-adjacent (Thalia) which made them closed off and felt guilty even though it wasn’t their fault. And on a lighter note how Gwen was talking to the Vulture that didn’t belong to her universe and then Miguel just screamed Annabeth to me, like her clear pride that she wasn’t confused actually and knew about the multiverses and was trying to show what she was made off was peak Annabeth to me. Personality wise I just feel like their confidence and maturity for their age due to their experiences are really really similar. Also both of them eventually going back to their dads who have learnt to accept them for their abilities and they decide to make another try.

Miles and Percy have a lot of differences, main ones being their upbringing, school-lives and also Mile’s artistic side and being a bit of a genius (Percy is still really smart though just in a different way). BUT COME ON THEYRE ALSO SUPER SIMILAR!! A kid from New York with got special abilities they can use to defeat monsters. Having to balance being a normal teenager and having to fight monsters with no control over when and where (the school meeting scene in the movie reminded me of Percy so much). Not being able to tell normal people about their abilities. Discovering that there are more people like them with these abilities shortly after discovering said abilities. Finding a new sense of belonging with these people like you but not quite being like them either. Being betrayed by one of the few people you felt close to (Aaron and Luke). Being one of the most powerful of the people like you but still treated like a kid and not being let known as much as you want to know. It turning out you’re actually not meant to be who you are at all (Miles being an anomaly and Percy being a child of a big three despite them having an oath to not have kids). Having a horrible destiny you’re told you can’t do anything about (Percy’s prophecy they thought meant he was going to die and Mile’s canon events). Their loyalty to the people closest to them and their family. Miles in the entire latter of half of the movie screamed Percy. AND THEIR SENSES OF HUMOR!!!! You could give Mile’s jokes to Percy and vice versa and it would sound perfectly in character and they both use it as a way to break the tension and shows the really quick-witted way they look at the world.

Now their dynamic together. They both got that sweet awkward teenagers that care a lot about each other and are clearly in love but won’t admit it. They miss each other a lot and understand each other in a way nobody else does. They trust each other with their lives. Gwen and Annabeth always trusting Miles and Percy despite being hurt and betrayed by others before. Gwen joining the spider-society before Miles and having to keep secrets just like Annabeth has been at camp half-blood for a lot longer than Percy and not being able to tell him everything. Both Gwen and Annabeth are therefore put in a position of more experience and trust from the leaders in juxtaposition to Miles and Percy who know the least out of everyone and is constantly trying to gain the trust Gwen/Annabeth already have. Annabeth and Gwen also know something about Percy and Miles they can’t tell him (Gwen knowing Miles is an anomaly and Annabeth knowing Percy’s prophecy that heavily implies he’s gonna die). Percy and Miles as someone with a good parent/parents talks to Annabeth/Gwen about their dads and they open up about it. The slight jealousy element with Hobie and Gwen reminded me of the jealousy elements within Percabeth, both a tiny bit with Luke but also Rachel if Rachel would’ve been Annabeth’s friend/potential love interest and not Percy’s (the Hobie thing is a bit less intense than the Rachel thing though but still the roles Hobie and Rachel fulfill in regards to the main relationship is similar in that also Rachel was someone for Percy to feel normal around and being in Hobie’s dimension was a place Gwen could stay that wasn’t just headquarters also Rachel and Hobie would get extremely well along you can’t change my mind).

I ALSO NEED TO POINT OUT BECAUSE I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT PERCY PRINTING OUT A PICTURE OF ANNABETH TO HAVE IN HIS NOTEBOOK BECAUSE HE MISSES HER IS THE NON-ARTIST EQUIVALENT OF MILES DRAWING A MILLION SKETCHES OF GWEN!!

a video of mine on tiktok blew up about how tiring fandom culture can be and 99% of the 1k plus comments are people saying they didn't know other people thought the same or thanking me for saying it. how did we lose the plot??? fandom is and has always been supposed to be fun. this kind of response makes me think that there's a significant population of people out there bored or even truly miserable forcing themselves to consume content that doesn't excite them so they're a "true fan."

#there are literally no rules besides being a nice respectful person #your participation level doesn't dictate how “good” of a fan you are #jfc you can't get a good grade in fandom #this is supposed to be a fun distraction from the slog of daily life not a chore or job #while i like people found it relatable it kind of makes me sad so many people thought so negatively of their participation in fandom #fandom discourse #fandom culture #nikki speaks

i will say this tho… the reason why most kpop groups don’t come to europe is because in comparison to maybe the usa, the market for kpop music there is better than in europe and also since companies nowadays are obsessed with making groups international (promoting them in the us basically) they know it’s easy money over there honestly that’s what i think

#not saying that in europe there aren’t kpop fans #which there are #i would say there are a lot in france and spain and perhaps italy??#but like when they quote on quote tour europe they only go to those countries #and in hindsight the tour ends up being small and there’s not that much profit #compared to what the us brings tbh #i hate to admit it but it’s true lol #the music industry like the western one mainly happens in america #and when groups tour there’s no doubt they will go there #there’s also that guarantee #but also what i don’t get is how they don’t go to south america #when especially brazil has a lot of kpop fans???#i feel like south america has a lot of kpop stans especially in recent years #but all of this to say that yes it’s a good decision #i don’t think it is lmao #i never went to a concert bc of travel costs #when tours happen in europe is never in portugal so #the closest thing i have is spain or france #but that’s too much money for an average person like me #so i am not abt to make that awful financial decision #as much i want to see my fave groups #but it’s true that kpop is international #and is getting more and more international #and companies don’t do tours outside of the us #and i’m not talk about asia bc of they tour in asia that is a given #i mean outside of asia they only go to america #and MAYBE … very rarely… five european countries #anyways this is getting long but you get what i mean #it’s sad that a lot of people don’t get opportunities for many reasons #tris.txt

Saw op red film today and firstly, I enjoyed the movie, really did. Secondly tho, why do I feel there was so much, so much, potential lost?? Can I trust fanfiction will fix this?

Considering how much focus Holly got on the soft rebrand era, its crazy to me that she doesnt have much going on in the show. Like, aside from her side appearences and such she is never given any sort of storyline or major appearance idk, like not even an episode centered around her (her introduction episode doesnt really count cause again, intro episode) you'd think that giving her focus on merchandise would make us have more lot content of her in the show.. (yeah ik she has a book abt her and poppy but its not enough idk...)

I broadly think the majority of content you find in "X critical" tags tends to be a bit. Uh. Garbage in terms of legit media criticism, but I cannot overstate their importance in terms of being easily filterable for people who actually like X, and idk if it's the recent migrations from other social media platforms or (more likely) if I'm just having an off week and reading into things too much but like. Can we keep it going/bring it back??? If I have to see one more post about how ppl hate a certain thing in that certain things tag (where fans congregate to find content of the thing), with no filterable critical tag. I might actually kill ppl

#coming up and having such a bond with a club and making it to some sort of involvement with the first team only to never cement your place #and how that must feel especially in an era with harry kane being the poster boy for the academy system knowing so many of our academy #get scraps until we get to maybe skippy?????#i mean winks did get a lot of game time but still #and the vitriol towards some of them? like winks who adores the club but was treated like shit by fans #and the way it's like skippy is spurs in the blood and then fans wanted him out after like 2 performances where he was coming back from #injuries and no game time #like the pressure on academy players and being a young player in general?????? insane to me actually #and it's not even that many of them are bad at football. i mean some of them are don't get me wrong but like kwp was GOOD #and he STILL both did and didn't get his big MOMENT his big SUCCESS with his boyhood club #makes me sad

Also I wish I could ignore Twitter bylers (I use Twitter a lot and I follow some byler artists there) bc sometimes I find tweets there and they're so dramatic Or pessimist about byler endgame, and I understand them I fear too bc many shows have burnt me and I'm too afraid of the show not delivering, but at the same time I am riveting, living my best life on the Tumblr byler tag where ppl truly see that byler can totally happen and I want to live on that high until s5 drops and then the show will speak for itself.
