WHAT IF THE SHINAZUGAWA BROTHERS DIDN'T SPLIT APART?

Here's a thought: what if Sanemi didn't constantly try to push away Genya and “hate” him?

Personally I think the only way this would work out is if Genya never accused Sanemi of being a murderer, which means that he had to see his mother Shizu as a feral demon before Sanemi killed her.

Going with this, let's say that everything went as the manga said, up until the point their siblings were murdered. Say Genya immediately ran after Sanemi after he showed up shoving their mother away, followed them all the way to the road and see his mother attempt to eat Sanemi for his marechi blood.

Obviously he would be horrified, but in this scenario he would be able to fully realize that this was not his mother, especially not when she turned her attention to him and lunged.

Skipping the gory details, this will then play out as Sanemi and Genya being forced to kill their mother together, and therefore no argument or accusations.

Later on, I feel that when Sanemi joined the Corps, Genya would attempt to follow too but like canon Sanemi would try to discourage him, albeit less “I have no brother” harsh and more “I'm not losing anyone else, brat”.

To follow the actual storyline as close as possible, Genya would somehow manage to convince his brother to be able to fight alongside him and eventually become Sanemi’s tsugoku instead of training under Gyomei Himejima. In the original storyline, Genya is motivated to become a Slayer in order to become a Hashira and apologize, but in this theory he's probably motivated to not let his brother down or die.

How would they find out Genya can eat demons? Let's say they found out Genya couldn't do any Breathing Techniques, but Sanemi decided that nonetheless he can still be a great swordsman...or gunman. Battling a demon together on a mission, say that somehow Genya’s hands get pinned down, forcing him to attempt to catch the sword Sanemi threw at him with his mouth (weird, but roll with me now). Somehow at the same time, maybe a part of the demon gets chopped off by Aniki or its blood sprays into the air, landing in Genya’s mouth instead and he…you get the point.

Moving on to the juiciest part: how would the brothers’ close relationship now impact the storyline?

We first meet Genya in the Swordsmith Village Arc, getting new weapons made. He and Sanemi aren't at each others throats here, so it would make sense that Sanemi too would be there getting his swords reforged or working off his perpetual crankiness in the hot springs.

SO, when the battle with Hantengu and Gyokko begins, we have not one, not two, but THREE Hashiras in the village.

Clearly Sanemi would be able to whoop some vase otaku or crybaby demon's ass with his usual sass, swords and screaming, but the Shinazugawa duo combined? The Upper Moons would've lost before they've even known it.

And to conclude, there would be no mark manifesting on either Muichiro or Mitsuri!

So I read your last post and I noticed you mentioning an AU where Nezuko regains her human personality and memories early and recently I had a similiar idea, but with Nezuko only having vague recolections instead of her full memory. If I ever decided to write it (extremely unlikely as it is), it would be mostly cannon complaint, with few exceptions, like Nezuko getting a mask from Urodaki to replace her muzzle (so she can still talk), Nezuko staying with Tamayo and reuniting with Tanjiro before/during the forest arc, Nezuko teaching Genya how to demon in the Swordsmith Village (he would also have a big moment when he uses Aizetsu BDA) and during pillair training. At least until the last arc, because as I mentioned on ao3, I really want to see Nezuko vs Kokushibo. There would also be some other self indulgent stuff in the last arc, such as different characters surviving and few different match ups in the infinity fortress arc (most notably Obonai & Mitsuri participating in the Akaza fight).

Sorry for throwing all of this at you, I originaly wanted to just ask you how does your Nezuko regains her self early AU, differs from cannon (beyond the obviuos), but I kinda ended up ranting about mine.

Ooh! Your version sounds pretty fun! And trust me, I do not mind fun story rambling, I would be a hypocrite if I did. I a hundred percent support you writing that, if you decide to do so!

Now buckle in, we got a long one!

My version is basically Nezuko wakes up after her coma, and is pretty much her human self. There is still some stuff missing, but she managed to get most of herself back. And she also decides the muzzle is BS and yanks it off at the exact moment Urokodaki comes in the check on her.

After that, Tanjirou comes back and he and Nezuko figure out what's missing and how to go about things. If Nezuko managed to conquer the sun shortly after her sleep, she would get a mask to hide her demonic features while she's hanging around humans. If not, she would still get the mask, but stay in her box during the day. This leads to fun Nezuko Box Commentary opportunities.

Aside from conversation abilities, Nezuko would also regularly fuss over Tanjirou, especially if he got hurt. He may be the eldest, but she's still got an obligation to worry about him as his sister. It also extends to his friends once she gets close to them too.

She would be quick to establish boundaries, especially around Zenitsu. No claiming her as his wife.

Also, Nezuko gets to rip some Hashira a new one during the trial. She would definitely tear into them for 1. not letting Tanjirou explain himself, 2. stabbing her repeatedly (Shinazugawa got the death stare, and suddenly remembered angry small people were, in fact, terrifying even without fangs), and 3. making a mess in the nice house and waving blood in her face. She also would NOT appreciate Himejima implying she possessed Tanjirou. Great offense would be taken at that, how dare he. She stays close to Tanjirou and any Hashira that didn't want her dead after then. Maybe she conquers the sun then, if she hasn't already, trying to protect Tanjirou. I read a fanfic with that premise, and it was really good.

Things go pretty similar for the Mugen Train Arc, but maybe Nezuko steps in against Akaza. Even if he doesn't fight women, all she has to do is get some of her blood on him and he's getting roasted. That might save Rengoku, then he can vouch for her personally!

RLD Arc still sees Nezuko go berserk, but maybe she manages to reign herself in a little until Tanjirou calms her down fully. When they get a moment, they absolutely talk about it and why Nezuko went as far as she did compared to fighting other demons. (My head canon is that Nezuko went so far then because she was, even if only subconsciously, terrified of losing the only family she had left.) Lots of crying, lots of hugs. Some apologies get tossed around. They probably also talk about seeing themselves in Gyutaro and Daki, because THAT would have gotten brought up and discussed if Nezuko wasn't brain fried!

Swordsmith Village, pretty much the same. If Nezuko already conquered the sun, I can imagine this epic scene of her just standing there while Hantengu burns, glaring at him as he begs for mercy or help. Kinda like Luz does to Belos in the Owl House finale, except Hantengu gets decapitated instead of stomped. And maybe hit with the blood arson.

I can see Nezuko participating in Hashira Training and insisting she take up the sword. Even if she didn't go to Final Selection. This would be for any number of reasons. She wants to help Tanjirou, she wants to be able to protect herself from demons that may try to capture her, she doesn't want everyone fighting and maybe dying to keep her safe, etc.

If she participated in the final battle, Yushiro would make sure she had one of his little eyes for invisibility. If she's gonna be sticking around and fighting, might as well limit her chances of getting spotted and captured. And I can definitely see her going after either Douma or Kokushibo. Probably Kokushibo because Douma is, well, Douma. Maybe she even goes after Nakime, burning the Biwa Demon so Yushiro can do his thing while Mitsuri and Obanai take the chance to provide backup to other Slayers(I like the idea of throwing them at Akaza). Once that's done, Nezuko goes to fight Kokushibo, possibly even saving Genya as she intervenes. Then Kokushibo would be confused because something just attacked him, but where tf is it? Honestly a BDA+Breath Style versus BDA+Breath Style fight sounds epic. And Nezuko would have an edge in that her BDA burns demons and slows their regen A LOT. You bet your bottom dollar she's using that!

Then we go to Muzan. He would definitely try to get her to come to him by threatening everyone else there, but ESPECIALLY Tanjirou. Muzan would be like "I killed everyone else in your family, you think I won't kill him? You think I won't draw it out and make it painful just to make you hurt?" Tanjirou still gets that hit to his eye and everyone gets the infection from canon. But not only does Chachamaru come in with some medicine, Nezuko can just burn the poison out! Which is good for Tanjirou, it'll mean he's no longer actively dying while fighting Muzan. From there, it would be awesome to see Nezuko and Tanjirou fighting Muzan together, and Nezuko burning Muzan while the sun does the same. He tries to devour her, but the remaining Hashira intervene. Tanjirou might still deliver the final blow, and then it's over.

If I were to do DKT in this AU, Nezuko would be the major fighter against her brother. Everyone is either too wounded or is emotionally unable to do it. And Nezuko, though she loves her brother and doesn't want to see him hurt or killed, understands that he isn't like she was. He can't control himself, and he could easily get someone killed if someone doesn't stop him. He promised to kill her and himself if she ate a human, she might as well return the favour and make sure his hands spill no human blood by any means necessary. So she throws herself at him, remembering Tamayo saying something about Nezuko's blood helping another demon regain themselves. She lets him bite her, using her BDA to try and burn out Muzan's influence while also trying to get through to Tanjirou verbally. He starts to slow down, and Kanao administers the booster shot of the antidote.

Once Tanjirou comes back, and they know it's over, Nezuko takes her own dose of the antidote. Even with the fever and pain it causes her, she refuses to leave her brother's side. Luckily, she's only transforming back for one night. The first thing Tanjirou sees when he wakes up is his little sister as a human again. Cue the tearful hugs. And from there, it goes as it did in canon. With a few more survivors, of course. Genya and Sanemi go travelling together, Mitsuri and Obanai get married, all that good stuff.

BONUS! Little Sibling Club! Nezuko, Muichiro, Senjurou, Genya, the entire Butterfly Team, Giyuu. They get together at least monthly, if not weekly. There's tea, and snacks, and chit-chat. This includes unintentional therapy sessions, all of them are horribly traumatized in some way or another. Some of them might have decided to gang up on Sanemi and dogpile him on sight.

Side note; this takes place LOOOOONG before the swordsmith village arc, like all the way back in season 1, so that's why Nezuko still has her iconic muzzle. Besides, I just miss seeing her with it as I'm sure everyone else does

Drawing Nezzy's face was really fun, she's so cute

So, Zakiko is out & about at night & spots the Kamado siblings heading back to their abode. They talk for a little bit, Nezzy is all sweet with her, & she eventually offers to go with them until they get back home as a means of protection since Nezuko can't help him out forever & Tanjiro is still very much a rookie as of when this takes place. I like to think that Nezuko grows on Zakiko pretty quickly & sees her as sorta a mom or big sister figure sometime after the hashira meeting. That's mostly due to Urokodaki's hypnosis & the fact she genuinely likes her & thinks she's a good person. Full-demons & half-demons gotta stick together, I guess. So, Mitsuri would be a big sister figure while Zakiko is the mom figure

Anyways, she eventually talks about Michi & Yorii since Tanjiro has no idea who they are, or were, & also no idea (not yet, anyways) that Zakiko is actually a half-demon. So, when she starts getting reminiscent, Tanjiro says how she's a good person for missing them that much & so she's reminded of Yoriichi in that moment. She even sees a vision of Tanj as Yoriichi after that for a second, too

Considering how, back at the meeting, their first interaction was a bit rough (Her gripping onto his hair while Obanai keeps him pinned down), this vision & his words & just overall love they, mostly Nezuko, have for her, her usual scary & intimidating demeanor does a complete 180 to soft & kind. That's when she just ruffles his hair as a way of showing her thanks

Bet you never seen Zakiko this gentle before, have ya? It just proves she IS capable of acting like it to anyone other than Kokushibo

can we see a colored drawing of your avatar or can you tell us what are its colors? is it called the same as you?

If you are referring to Fanfic Monster, she is based my inner ogre-ish self whom I've known for many years but my current way of drawing her is inspired by Nobuo-kun, the doodled little boy who asks Gotouge-sensei questions in the Taisho Secrets of Volume 11. She has been called this name ever since my first draft of I&H, which I wrote in ten very obsessive days.

Fanfic Monster is all colors; this makes her appear stark white with black outlines. If you look closely in the shadows, it's a myriad of colors like the skin of a soap bubble.

If you referring to my KnY-sona I developed as a joke while I was having fun with the Shonen Jump character generator (which sadly no longer appears to be live) and the "What Breath Should You Practice" quiz in the first fanbook, then...

I did have one colored version of the Corp member version, although I didn't have a colored pencil with a satisfyingly dark brown for the hair. It was colored very simply for cutting a new joke at my own expense for the Nichirin blade, which was designed in response to that Ask about what my own blade would look like. You can use that as a base, just squint and imagine a more chocolatey shade of brown. As for eyes, greenish-brownish-hazelish? There's a Kakushi in episode 1 of the Swordsmith Village arc who has a pretty and muted shade of green for eyes, I like those. Skin is pale, she is prone to low-blood pressure. Also, thanks to this Ask, my crow has more personality now too. As for the demon version, I don't have a colored version and was going to let that fall more blonde (because who doesn't want to have fun as a blonde once or twice?), but I was very flattered to receive a congratulatory drawing of my demon self from @avocodas. Since then I adopted the headcanon of black hair for her, because who doesn't want to have fun with jet black hair once or twice? But the other it hit me, this is KnY, I can even more fun!! And I've wished I could try deep magenta on my ends and let it fade to a champagne pink, so!!! To get the best of a couple different worlds, my demon self has shiny black hair!! The shiny parts up higher are a deep magenta, and the ends are a champagne pink!

The eyes are two-tone, so... white on the outside, but let's say the same muted shade of green for the centers, but with some magenta fading around the edges of the circle. That won't clash at all, I'm sure.

Outfit? I don't know. She'd probably work in a handful of different colors.

Demon Slayer Version! --Buri/Buriko is very serious. Very, very serious. So serious it's silly. --As a recap, she felt the call to slay demons because it is a noble purpose, and admired Flower Breath. However, she has a forceful and ungraceful style and wound up lopping all the heads off the flowers in her Cultivator's garden. Her kind and patience Cultivator suggested she switch to Wind Breath but gave her a bright and flowery haori anyway. Buri/Buriko lives in shame for having failed Flower Breath so badly, but her screaming and growling swordsmanship has suited Wind Breath well. --She uses a naginata. This would be a difficult weapon to hide in Taisho, which is why it is designed to be in two parts that quickly screw together, and one part is collapsible. One night while stopped by the Taisho Police and questioned for her weapon, she replied very seriously, "it's for gym class." They said, "you don't look like a high school girl." She replied, "I'm the teacher." "The... English teacher?" "The gym teacher." They gave up and let her go. --Buri tends to work alone, being so serious hasn't given her many friendships among the Corp because she doesn't relax around anyone. She doesn't deserve to show her face around Flower Breath users, after all. (No one cares. She's admired from a far for seeming demure but then people are shocked to see how wrathful her Wind Breath is. She has no calm in a fight, that's all.) --This lack of calm is her downfall. Although it's not usually the case that demon blood accidentally getting into a wound would cause a human to turn into a demon, but this happened this time. In her haste, she didn't put her naginata together property and the staff broke off, putting her in a close-range fight. She was injured to the point of probably dying anyway but she defeated the demon, and it fell on top of her, splat. Muzan, somewhere miles away, was vaguely aware and thought, "did I just make another Breath user into a demon? Eh, whatever," and then he promptly forgot about her.

Demon Version! --Demon!Buri/Buriko has no recollection of being human, but she maintains a very strong interest and admiration for the Corp. She's kind of like an obsessive fangirl. --But she's also so silly, it's serious. She ruthlessly makes fun of the Corp too. --She loves eating Corp members, they're her favorite. The more amazing their hard work, the more she just wants to eat them up! --When she's hungry she draws silly pictures poking fun at the Corp as bait. It's so cute how easily provoked they are! --However, this stems from her own perfection goals and ideals for the swordsman she wanted to become. If someone says something that hits a little too close to what she's sensitive about that, that's when she gets serious and loses her appetite. --According to the original canon of this self-insert, she dies of fangirling over an encounter with the Flame Pillar.

Giyuu is head over heels for you. He’ll want to protect you since you’re the most precious things he’s ever laid eyes on

Sparkles in his eyes whenever he sees you✨

He doesn’t want to lose you so he’s butting in on all of your missions. You get annoyed and you think he’s looking down on you.

You two get into a fight and doesn’t fix it since Giyuu’s communication is bad. It ends up in you walking away.

Nighttime and demons are lurking around in the forest as you take a stroll to clear your mind. Then a demon launches on you but thanks to your quick reflexes you dodge.

It’s a strong demon, close enough to become one of the lower moons. But nothing you can’t handle.

Giyuu senses a demon nearby and he frantically searches for you. *sim dads reaction when the mother goes into labor lmaooooo*

Lights fill up an area of the forest from the techniques you use. In like 2 strikes the demon dies.

He finally finds you as the demon’s ashes blow away. Your hair is dramatically blowing too.

He’s just staring at you then hugs you “I’m sorry. I’m not underestimating you…I just want to protect you.”  

Then all good. He’s amazed by how strong you are despite you’re short stature. You’re going to missions together and sometimes he just watches you finish off the demon. Just happy to see that satisfied smile you have when you kill a demon.

Muichiro Tokito

When he first met you at the pillar meeting, he muttered his thoughts, wondering how could someone be that small? You’re in the same age but you’re small.

Shinobu heard him since she was beside him and said “that’s rude to ask someone”. She’s lowkey offended.

Tengen retorts to Muichiro. “You’re small too…??”

Since it’s rude, he kept his mouth shut. You’re the same age as him when you entered the corps. He thinks you’ll grow up anyway. 

Surprise surprise you grew up, 2 inches. But still small. 

He gets nervous a bit around you since puberty did you good. Won’t admit it though.

Cue swordsmith village arc

He’s having trouble dealing with Gyokko. (I hate his face. It’s weird and ugly.)

Then minutes later, you show up out of nowhere, giving great damage to the demon.

“Are you okay?” you ask him with concern and you two fight off the fish demon.

He’s in awe because you actually took over the fight. Sure you have injuries but those are minor compared to his and you were very careful.

He’s injured so he couldn’t do much but you saved him and the civilians by defeating the demon. That’s when he realized how amazing you are and you earn his respect. 

Days pass by and you two along with the other demon slayers are commended by Oyakata-sama.

He thanks you when the both of you are walking together. He’s very grateful for what you did and you two become closer afterwards.

“Ah young love.” Mitsuri sighs blissfully as she watches you two leave the headquarters.

Kyojuro Rengoku 

Kyojuro knows you’re small and he knows you’re strong. You’re one of his trainees along with Mitsuri, so you’ve known each other for a long time now.

You rose to the ranks of the pillars with Kyojuro’s guidance. And now you’re looked up to by the whole organization because of your excellent swordsmanship despite your small figure. 

So you’re tasked to train 20 slayers ranked below Tsuchinoto. You take them to a clearing in the forest where training equipment are already placed. You train them by remembering what Kyojuro has taught you over the years. And you smile, seeing your past self in the struggling slayers.

You gave them a 10 minute break and after 10 minutes, you do a headcount to see if everyone is in your proximity. 

“18,19…?????” 

Oh no. A slayer is missing.

So you set off to find the missing one and there you found him. 

Hanging upside down from the arms of a large demon. The boy is muttering apologies for straying faraway and is begging for you to save him upon seeing you. 

You are annoyed at the fact that he has disobeyed your orders and is now at the hands of danger. But this was no time to be blaming someone for a boy’s life is at stake here. 

You jump into the air and you take down the demon pretty easily with one strike of your sword. And you catch the falling boy bridal style with your annoyed face. 

You put the boy down but suddenly a demon comes attacking you both. You kill it but more of it comes at you. They are easy to take down but it keeps coming, making you tired if you have to do this all night. It just won’t stop multiplying.

You think you’ve killed almost all of it but then the slayer screams “(L/N)-SAN!!!!!”. A monstrous looking demon bares its claws at you, but before you could react a flash of flames appears right in front of your eyes. 

“Kyojuro…” You whisper in relief as he slays the final demon. The bright flames sparkle in your eyes as you’re once again amazed at the man.

Kyojuro looks at you and comes over. “You’re so amazing.” You manage to say. 

He smiles and says. “No. You’re the amazing one.”. You always manage to face whatever challenge and it always ends up in you winning. Kyojuro knows how hard you proved others wrong by becoming a strong pillar. 

Super proud of you cause you’re strong. He actually watched you battle those before jumping in to save you.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

He doesn’t really care if you’re short or tall

The important things is that you’re useful to the organization

When someone teases you about your height, you end up feeling down and he’s there to beat that someone’s ass.

He doesn’t like to admit it but he’s a softie when it comes to you. You eventually break down his walls and now you can say you’re friends with the scary wind pillar.

You always tease him though and he’s always annoyed. But everyone thinks you’re both dumb since it’s very clear that you two like each other but you still deny it.

There’s this time where Sanemi is visibly struggling fighting demons as you watch him peacefully on a rooftop. He’s glaring at you and asks you “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”.

You just smile at him sweetly😊

Sanemi pretends his heart didn’t do a flip. But his heart stopped when he saw a demon behind you on the rooftop.

He was about to call your name when another blink and the demon’s head was cut off.

He was surprised since it all happened so fast. You go down to the ground, landing safely as you battle demons that the frozen Sanemi left.

It just took you 10 seconds to eliminate those demons and Sanemi’s mouth is left agape as he watched you.

You weren’t normally like this. So why the sudden surge of power?

“Sanemi hun. Close your mouth.” You say to him with a blank face, but before you could go past him, he gripped your wrist tightly and placed your small body in front of him.

He dragged you so easily lol.

He hugged you with your faced buried on his chest.

It was the comforting kind of silence. Sanemi was scared losing you to that demon but deep inside he knows that you’re strong.

Won’t admit that your moves are amazing.

Gyomei Himejima

This man is the strongest in the demon slayer corps and the tallest

Gyomei actually gets out of tricky situations easily because he’s that strong

You’re a fairly new pillar who earned her spot 3 months ago. You two were assigned on a mission together. A gigantic demon appeared throughout the village that was between the regions you and the stone pillar were assigned in.

Then he sees you fighting off demons very easily. A determined look is seen across your face. Gyomei feels he’s tearing up because he’s so proud of you. Proud boyfriend here somethin.

You were just a weak mizunoto years ago and now you’re a strong pillar who can fight with him side by side.

When you finish off the demons, you look to see Gyomei smiling at you. This were the fruits of the harsh trainings you went through, it made an excellent swordswoman.

Among the pillars, you stand beside Gyomei in rankings. So you’re powerful like wow. O_O

Obanai Iguro

He’s small but have you seen him fight? He’s a demon slayer with remarkable speed and you won’t know he’s attacking you because his moves slithers secretly like a snake.

You’ve always admired Obanai even you’re now both pillars. And that admiration bloomed into something more.  

He’s a strong pillar despite his small stature and that’s what you aim for to be like.

You’re trying to show off your moves to him every time you’re in battle together, to show him what you can do. To which he’s just “meh”.

So you give up on trying to show off and just do it for the sake of the people you’re saving.

You really gave up on showing off, but you can’t help it cause your breathing forms are flashy. Obanai doesn’t show it but he loves that display of power you have when you’re fighting.

Poor man doesn’t realize he’s in love with you even though others point it out.

He’s having trouble dividing his attention on protecting the civilians or fighting the demons. Luckily you were near the area so you came to his aid.

You slay the demons with your sharp and precise movements in just a short amount of time.

He’s like 😲 but when you turn he’s back to 😐😷

He’s one of the guys who won’t admit that you’re amazing and won’t admit that he likes you. You force him to confess though.

Tengen Uzui

If Obanai doesn’t admit he likes you, this guy would shout that he likes you

Would openly flirt with you because why not? There’s nothing to be shy about.

Always takes the chance to compliment and flirt with you.

“You’re cute (y/n)” “Thanks” Tengen finds your height cute because the height difference is HUGE.

He knows you’re strong so he likes to train with you. Always ends up letting you win because he just likes it when he’s pinned down by your smaller figure.

When a demon invasion came in your area,, you fight them off while Tengen is called for backup.

He slays the lesser demons easily and found you fighting a stronger demon while protecting some children behind your back.

He smirks and leans against a tree, arms folded while watching you fight off the demon. 

You did it so easily making Tengen’s eyebrows rise.

Then you see him and ask him “what are you doing?”.

“watching you.” He finds you hot and sexy when you have that focused look in the middle of a battle. He won’t say it out loud because you might smack him in the face.

Super amazed at the fact that you’re stronger than the other pillars despite your small figure.(he thinks you’re stronger than him but dismisses that because pshhhhhh).

Will throw you over his shoulder at random times. Thinking that his antics will make you fall in love with him.

in my perfect au where nothing goes wrong, iguro obanai gets an arc after the swordsmith village.

idk what they do in it yet, maybe they kill akaza. but, i'd like akaza do be killed by shinjuro and tanjiro — but it wouldn't suit my au, because kyojuro doesn't die, and the whole point of shinjuro fighting akaza is avenging his son — because not only shinjuro would show his strength, since he's a former hashira, probably middle-aged so he still can fight and is maybe stronger than kyojuro, since it's stated that he had more books about the fire breathing AND he was probably trained by his father, while he himself didn't finish kyojuro's training, BUT ALSO, he'd have a proper arc of redemption.

i really like shinjuro despite the way he treated his children. i think he's human. he's a character full of defects, but he turned into this after his wife's death. that makes me think that he was just like kyojuro when he was young. a good, fair and noble man with a heart of gold, looking for justice and honoring the name of the rengoku clan. it makes me depressed to see how he is now. after seeing the way he cried over kyojuro's death, my heart broke. he changed after that. he recognized he was wrong. he deserved an arc of redemption.

but, back to obanai.

his backstory was shown only in the last chapters of the story. such a depressing story that tells us who's obanai and why he is who he is, but it's shown IN THE END (it also shows shinjuro and a little bit of how he was and the way he worked, since he saved obanai).

if he had his own arc, with more details on his backstory, a fight with an upper moon before the sunrise countdown, more people would like him, he would be more understandable, and it would be nice to see more of him and make him like tanjiro like giyu, shinobu, kyojuro, uzui, mitsuri and muichiro, the ones he had already befriended.

maybe he could be with mitsuri in an arc instead of muichiro? because, like, muichiro's fight with gyokko and his moments with kotetsu were fundamental to his character development, so i can't see how to change or replace that, actually everything in that arc requires muichiro's presence.

but i wish obanai and mitsuri were put in a almost death situation before the final battle. because that was the trigger for them to confess. so i can see a thing where they're severely injured and confess, thinking they'll die, but tanjiro and friends can finally kill the enemy and the two of them are rescued. then they survive and fight the final battle too, already as a couple.

i think maybe they fight akaza and tanjiro and his gang fight that upper moon 5 replacement we were robbed? because,,, mrs. gotouge,,, daki and gyutaro were replaced by kaigaku, then he plays a major role in zenitsu's development. hantengu was replaced by nakime and she is the pillar of the infinity castle.

gyokko was replaced by WHO? y'all forgot my boy??? we. deserve. upper moon 5 replacement. even if they're not at the final battle. just a "oh shit another upper moon 5, aND THEY'RE WITH UPPER MOON 3 NOW THE MFS WORK IN DUO" is ok for me.

but UGHHHH. SHINJURO. WE NEED SHINJURO VS AKAZA. so no them vs akaza.

ok, new upper moon 5 being super strong doesn't work, so maybe hantengu's clones are stronger and obanai and mitsuri are the first ones to be knocked out. mitsuri's backstory plays. more hantengu fight, gyokko vs muichiro, etc. later on the fight, they're fucked up, everything is going south, and then obanai and mitsuri show up and obanai's backstory plays.

i think that's ok, finally.

so.

upper moon 6 > uzui

upper moon 5 > muichiro

upper moon 4 > mitsuri and obanai

upper moon 3 > shinjuro, giyuu can show up to help and steal the spotlight since he also needs some fights for such an important character

upper moon 2 > shinobu

upper moon 1 > muichiro, gyomei, sanemi

then hashira training arc is longer and gives more depth to gyomei, sanemi and giyuu. it's already pretty focused on them but it would be nice to see even more.

kny wouldn't happen if it wasn't for him, he saved tanjiro and nezuko. he's their big brother, he deserves moments with them. could you imagine? tanjiro comparing his two brothers, kyojuro and giyuu. his sun and his moon.

maybe kyojuro loses an eye and retires like uzui. so shinjuro avenges the fact that his son can't fight anymore or whatever. or just decides to show up in his son's place to help them (and. redemption arc.) and to show tanjiro that he changed after thinking that his boy died.

but that's for another post.
