When did demanding for the next chapter become the norm? What happened to "I love your work!"? What happened to sending cute little asks yelling about how good the recent chapter is. If there is one thing that I know about writing is that rushed content will always be worse than a chapter that needed a little extra love.

this!!!! i promise this is the last time i'm going to complain about this stuff, but i think i speak for all writers when i say that if you send someone an ask or comment something along the lines of "when are you posting the next chapter?" "will there be another part?" "part 2???" you are going to burn. them. out. i think tiktok and other social media platforms have actually rotted some peoples brains into thinking that writers are content creators who can crank out 6k long works at the snap of your fingers. that's not at all how it works. the creative process takes time and can be draining for a lot of people!!!

i'm going to start deleting and potentially blocking (if it gets bad enough) people who send me asks wondering about the next part to soft spot. you guys, it is so exhausting. like i work full time. i work 10 hour shifts. i've had people send me asks THREE DAYS after i've posted a 10k long chapter asking when i was giving them another part. it's honestly childish and ridiculous. trust me i am trying. i write as often as i can. but please realize i am a human being. i haven't been very secretive about soft spot being a poorly hidden trauma fic, either. what that means is that i'm dumping a lot of my personal experiences into this story because therapy is honestly too damn expensive in this damn country lmao. so give me patience. this is all super personal to me. hounding me isn't going to make me write any faster. i have no schedule. i do not write full time. you're lucky i even post my stories at all. also i feel like i pretty regularly post updates about/sneak peeks of soft spot anyway? so if you guys would even just take a moment to go through my profile you'd probably figure out why the next chapter is taking a bit to be written lmao.

so just... keep that in mind before interacting with the authors of the stories you enjoy. writers do not owe you anything. like they mentioned in the ask, send encouragement. tell people your favorite parts about the story. ENGAGE with them for christs sake. and for all of you who do send me asks telling me what you enjoy about my work, please know i am forever grateful for you. you guys inspire and get me excited to write, and just know that it really helps so much <3

anyway how abt an AU where Reader finds the Mimic and, by sheer luck and/or an abundance of (endearing) stupidity, ends up befriending(?) it and decides to take them home!!!! (to the upper levels of the pizzaplex) Small problem, turns out the Mimic really dislikes other animatronics. And,, well, most things, it turns out. And we're talking some high levels of dislike like, 'willing to maim humans and machines without hesitation' kinda levels.

(Sun and Moon are trying very hard to be calm about this situation) (they r not doing a very good job tho)

the issue?? Well, Reader is convinced the Mimic is just a misunderstood, lonely animatronic that needs a little TLC to get back on the right track! And the Mimic knows that they think this. And takes full advantage, by only ever becoming menacing and violent when their back is turned. If they know Reader will see or notice them doing something, they refrain from acting out. As soon as you leave the room? Mask off, gloves tossed, this bitch boutta make interpretative art outta Monty's endoskeleton and Chica's leg warmers.

I find it interesting that your Marth mew was noticeably more anthro than your usual mews. Was that intentional? Or was it just a funny quirk of translating the design?

I was looking at Marth's Brawl image, so I might've just done it more one-to-one than I normally would.

Also have no idea how to translate that hair onto a cat without it looking human, lol. (Also gotta keep the boots and gloves~)

There's something really fascinating about how Athena treats Diomedes so differently from how treats Penelope and Odysseus (even Telemachus but that's a lil different too)

Athena has basically known Diomedes since he was born (some even say that she had a say in naming him) because of Tydeus. I don't think it's far-fetched to say that in a way, she possibly "molded" him. And Diomedes is kind of known for being the "perfect warrior king". He's respectful of the gods and most of his comrades, an incredibly skilled soldier, and has already achieved so many things despite being one of the youngest kings in the war.

I sadly think that's why Athena treats him so differently than Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus.

She cares for him, but it's still "distant" in a way. Or almost in an "I molded you. You will react the way I would want you to therefore I will not be surprised."

When it seems like she's known her other favored mortals for less long, she didn't get to "mold" them. They surprise and bring something "new" for her. She sees her little tricksters' scheme and plot and watches with intrigue but watching the perfect warrior is a "Yes, perfect form. That's what I'd do."

I mean even how her favored mortals pray to her tells you a lot about the relationships they have.

For example, in the Iliad, Odysseus doesn't need to really give as much reverence to her to "earn her favor" during book 10's Night Raid.

Odysseus rejoiced, and prayed to Pallas Athene: ‘Hear me, daughter of aegis-bearing Zeus, you who are with me in all my adventures, protecting me wherever I go. Show me your love, Athene, now, more than ever, and grant we return to the ships having won renown, with some brave act that will grieve the Trojans greatly.’ And Diomedes of the loud war-cry followed him in prayer: ‘Hear me also, Atrytone, daughter of Zeus. Diomedes brings up his dad and offers a young heifer (granted that could just be how Diomedes is with every immortal) while Odysseus doesn't and is basically like "Yo, help me out like you always do!". Odysseus is much more casual and personal with Athena. And with Penelope, Athena takes the form of one of her sisters to comfort her!

While Athena also most likely has known Telemachus since he was a baby, she's still closer to him than Diomedes.

Imagine that. You're basically molded by a goddess since birth, listen to her and other immortals dutifully, basically become her perfect warrior, and yet you can't seem to reach that familiarity with her. The same warmth she has for her other favored mortals.

I’m rereading Shugo Chara (it’s been years and the nostalgia I feel is immense) and I’ve got to be honest…

I think Amu and Ikuto is the funniest ship in the whole world.

Like, they just like each other. They like spending time with each other. Amu is genuinely comfortable around him until he starts flirting, then she’s mostly just kind of exasperated. All of Ikuto’s interactions with her are based on cats. He brings her food (human can not hunt for themself) and he lays on her (human is the most comfortable pillow) and he teases her (human must be kept on their toes). Like, he’s just a big ol’ cat and I love it.

But also, the manga is fucking hilarious.

When Kukai is graduating and everyone’s saying goodbye and Tadase asks “When I’m in trouble, can I talk to this picture I have of you?” When they’re all talking about what happens around springtime and Ikuto casually says “Being in heat. Because we’re cats.” and Amu’s respons is “Can he say that in this manga?” And Sensei… “Why are you still teaching here?” “I do have credentials.”

Ikuto is the funniest character. He brings cookies because he broke Amu’s tart. He brings ice cream because Utau dropped Kukai’s ice cream (and maybe Amu’s? I’m unclear) ((how did he even know that that happened? Does he have a sixth sense, “Someone just ruined my human’s meal. I have to fix this immediately.”)) He always shows up with a bag of food and just drops it on Amu, then leaves. He came here for one reason and one reason only, and it was to drop off food, bye.

My favourite part of the manga is Nadeshiko/Nagihiko. I love Amu’s comment early on “Nadeshiko changes so fast!” I love Temari, who just repeats “my kimono will get dirty.” And when they’re crawling through the vent or whatever, and Temari is crawling while still covering her face with her sleeve and says “my kimono is getting dirty.” Hilarious. I love Temari so much.

I love that Nadeshiko is Amu’s best friend. They are besties. The extra where Nagihiko breaks out of his house to spend time with Amu? Perfection. Nagihiko holding Amu’s hand, and when she points it out to him, he just goes “Oh yeah. I forgot I’m different today.” I love Nagihiko, he’s the best. The whole explanation is totally wild and honestly baffling, but I love Nagihiko and his weird ass family all the same.

I liked the show a lot as a kid, and I liked the manga even more. I think Amu and Ikuto are adorable. I think it’s funny that the characters don’t act like any elementary school students I’ve ever met (including the ones who were in elementary school with me). I like that Kukai is everyone’s favourite, and he’s just so chipper. I like Tadase’s wish being to conquer the world, and everyone agreeing to help him with it because “It’s fun :)” I especially like that Amu is consistently and constantly judging the capes.

Maybe it’s nostalgia colouring my view. Maybe I’m biased because it made me laugh a couple times. Maybe I just like Ikuto and Amu being comedic foils to each other. Whatever it may be, I really enjoy the manga. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I recommend it if you’re going to be pissed by the age gap? No.

carlos love language is definitely quality time and physical touch. he spends way too much time away from his so that when it’s finally the summer holidays all he wants is to be around them. and always be touching them in some way, it doesn’t have to be sexual like just an arm around your shoulders or playing with hair…

he’s SO touchy, i just know it. and it’s absentminded, he just seems to gravitate towards you no matter where you are. holding your hand is a favourite of his, thumb rubbing your skin, but he’s also a fan of a hand on the thigh or his arm draped over your shoulder. for quality time, carlos is the kind of bf to plan out his calendar very carefully, and always makes sure to slot time in to spend time with you. it sometimes seems a little appointment—esque, but you know how busy his job is and his dedication to making sure you don’t feel left out. and once again, ferrari drivers + words of affirmation is a MUST. carlos has been treated terribly since he left mclaren, constantly feeling like second best. but he has you, to tell him how important and loved he is. that he’s the first and only one in your life. and he’ll always let you know how much that, and you, mean to him

i feel a little like a failure with my writing lately but i'm at 4.6k words for the next part of soft spot now. how angry would you guys be if it hit close to 8k words because i think that's what we're working towards...

anyway, to make up for my... idk shit with writing lately, here's a(n unedited) peek into the next part for anyone who's interested.

Bitterly cold sand stung the palm of your hands as you looked away from that infuriating man. The ocean’s waves still crashed on the shore next to you, and you listened as the seagulls conversed on the rocks. Everything around you was perfect except that you were on the ground, knees in the sand, and Simon was not there to pick you up.

My brain is a mess atm so I'm gonna try to keep this as cohesive as possible but god. I saw Across the Spiderverse for the second time yesterday night and I had completely forgotten the opening with the Comics Code Authority seal. My first time watching me and my friends laughed at that scene, "Haha lmao they're spoofing on the comics code authority a bit, hell yeah" I had thought, and I moved on to the masterpiece that was ATSP. The second time though, after knowing all the themes and ideas of the movie, the comics code seal hit me like a truck. Because Miles's story could NEVER be approved by the comics code. Neither could Pavitr's, nor Gwen's and definitely not Hobie's for that matter. And this ties back exactly to the themes of the movie because Miles's story is about rejecting conventional storytelling and the norms of what a Spiderman story should be. In the same way that Miguel is so obsessed with maintaining canon, maintaining the status quo of the Spiderman mythos, the entire point of the comics code was to restrict stories with new perspectives that didn't fit a certain agenda. It was when comics were able to break free from the code that we got so much innovation and diversity and complexity. And I know that morally Miguel and the Comics Code are definitely not a 1 to 1 comparison but in a meta sense, viewing ATSV's themes as a commentary on storytelling conventions, it fits perfectly I think.
