Oh my gosh, reading this almost made me cry at work 😂 Thank you for the kind words! I’m so glad you enjoyed the comic! I had no idea it would reach so many people when I posted it two years ago.

I have...ideas...about a possible TROS epilogue. Just don’t know if I have the time in my schedule to make it happen. We shall see.

Reylo Story Time

Happy Saturday! The sun is shining and spring is in full swing and it’s time to share this week’s brilliant reads

First of all, I’d like to start with a shoutout to the incredIibly talented @solosheart, whose stories I’ve been quietly obsessing over for quite a bit now. If you haven’t yet, check out her beautiful, heart wrenching so that he may sleep without his fists clenched (E, 63K), which has one of the best devoted Reylo dynamics I’ve ever read (caution: you will probably cry, but in the best way) and then dip your toes into the most wonderful summer camp AU, for what it’s worth (it was worth all the while (E, WIP). Taylor’s words are exquisite, and full of feeling, and I promise you will love them.

One Last Thing (E, WIP) Celia graced us with this precious little story this week, and I’m on pins and needles to read chapter 2. Ben pines, Rey is allergic to bees and somehow the two things connect to form a wonderfully unconventional love story.

This reminds me that Upstairs (E, 20K) has just wrapped up, and those of you who haven’t should absolutely give it a read because it’s amaaaazing and perfect in every way. If I could marry Celia’s writing, I would. 

Waiting (for my real life to begin) (T, 16K) Can’t have merMay without a mermaid story! This one is cute as can be. Or: mermaid Rey finds an injured prince.

Kentaco Fried Chicken and a Pizza Heart (M, 2K) A fabulous little piece where Ben & Rey bond over a shared penchant for terrible fast food and an acerbic wit. I love, love, love it.

for reasons wretched and divine (E, WIP) Because I can never resist an arranged marriage AU, and this one is delicious. The author also took inspiration from The Swan Princess which is, in my opinion,a god tier move in every way. All in all, this is a must read!

chicken noodle soup, wine and other shenanigans (T, 12K) You guuuuuuys, this quarantine/sharing an apartment story is just as cute as the title would suggest. 

riding solo (E, 7K) Againt,the title says it all! The one where Rey makes a list... and Ben is happy help her cross of a particular item 🔥

And Closer Still is Never Enough (E, 15K) Another incredible arranged marriage AU. Don’t judge me. Do read it.

between two lives (E, WIP) Currently reading this one and I’m loving it so far. Rey is a model whose car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and Ben is the gruff but incredibly polite guy who offers her a place to stay.

Piece of Cake - A while ago I asked why there weren’t any stories where Rey ropes a stranger - Ben - into pretending to be her fake fiancé so they could get free wedding cake tastings and Celia delivered THE BEST, MOST WONDERFUL twitfic. You guys. I love it more than cake.

secret little rendezvous is the Reylo/1D AU you knew you needed if you were at any point in time a 1D stan. I’m so excited about this!!! Bookmark it now, loves!

Butterfly is the softest, most adorable High School AU. I smiled at the screen like an idiot the whole time I was reading it.

It’s nice to have a friend — another SOFT babies AU but this one features letters and when I tell you I melted, I mean I melted melted. My heart is a puddle on the floor. Please don’t step on it on your way over.

Speak Now is about ex high school sweethearts who are reunited when Ben announces his engagement. Ugh, I’m a sucker for this kind of story.

What I’m reading on A03

Since we are all under quarantine, I just thought I’d share some Reylo fics I’m currently reading on A03. 

Disparate Pieces by @space-trash-princess This was one of the first Reylo fics I read after TLJ came out. I’m a sucker for Kylo being redeemed because he finds out Rey is *redacted*. Currently rereading.

*Exile (Revised) by @agir1ukn0w I joined a Reylo group after TROS and met this amazing author. It’s a fix-it fic where Ben is exiled for his time as Kylo Ren. Rey is exiled as well and they are sent to the same planet. Domestic Reylo so it’s great. 

*Spark by Laylahcousland Your typical TROS fix it where Rey goes to the World Between Worlds to save Ben but with politics. I know it sounds bad in my summary but it’s great, believe me. 

*You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away by SpaceWaffleHouseTM Ben survives Exegol and Reylo sexy times happen. 

Above us, stars. Beneath us, constellations by crossingwinter Ben goes to Jakku instead of Snoke after Luke tries to kill him. He stays on the Falcon and meets a certain scavenger. Basically a retelling of the sequel trilogy but with more Ben Solo. 

*Pillow Talk by @themoonmoths The bond between Rey and Kylo Ren happens each night. They get to know each other better and yes more sexy times. 

So That He May Sleep Without His Fists Clenched by @solosheart A modern AU where Rey is an orphan in the care at the Skywalker orphanage where Ben helps out. Later Ben becomes a marine and has to leave Rey. Domestic and angst :) 

*Abilities Seemed Unnatural by BurntKloverfield Ben can’t save Rey on Exegol so he brings her back to the Resistance. Unnatural things ensue. 

*The Skywalker Actually Rises in this One by @shruggyben How TROS should have been

Hello!! I love binging all your recs in this quarantine. I was looking for any fics where someone thinks the other person is dead. But no actual character death! The Way to Tomorrow by @the-reylo-void

Complete. Post-TFA Divergent.  Exiled Ben.  Luke Lives.  Sometime after the events of TFA, the Resistance wins the war and sentences Ben to a year of exile.  Thanks to the Force Bond, Ben’s not as alone as his exile had been meant to be.  Somber mood, with Ben doing some heavy reflection and soul searching, even Rey does a good dose of internal reflection. Nicely written “conversation courtship”.  This doesn’t center around one character mistaken the other for dead, but there is a section I believe you would appreciate and it is one of my favorite Reylo fics in general.  

Icarus by @eirenare 

Complete. Canonverse Setting. Quick one-shot, but fits what you are looking for.  Ben has joined the Resistance and is on a mission with Rey. When suddenly it appears he goes all in, Rey has a tumult of emotions to sort through.  

Burn the Boats by @eek-a-tron

This is a WIP, but mostly complete and doesn’t end on a cliff hanger. Post-TLJ. The Force connects Ben and Rey when suddenly Rey’s ship appears to malfunction and be about to crash.  The Force, of course, disconnects them before Ben can figure out what happened.  But it doesn’t stop him from going on a mission to find her – unsure whether she is dead or alive.  Heavy on angst and misunderstandings.  

Caught Between Beats by @tazwren

WIP. Post-TLJ. During a Battle, Rey is struck by a bolt when trying to save Kylo. Using the Force he traps her life essence inside her – unsure how he even did it, but now is unsure if she is trapped in a state between life and death.  

First of the New by @praemonitor 

This is listed as a WIP, but is told in a series of “Minisodes” and the first five “minisodes” are complete.  In the first “Minisode”, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren appears to vanish. Rey and his Knights must team up to solve the mystery of his disappearance.  

One Last Thing by Celia_and 

WIP, Anticipated two chapters, first chapter was posted 05/13/2020. Modern Setting. Summary: What if, in the seconds before you die, you were allowed to know everyone who was secretly in love with you?

I’m sorry trashy ppl repost your beautiful gifs, I hope this doesn’t discourage you from making them 😔

My twitter account is small, I don’t have much of a platform, and I kinda like it that way — it provides a certain level of anonymity for me and intimacy for my relationships with my mutuals because I get to interact with people on one-to-one basis. However, it feel like the reposter — @/ReyloAwakens on twitter — is taking gross advantage of tumblr content creators because many of them don’t have twitter accounts or, like me, have a small presence. (Fran says god gives us ability to be good at only one social media, and I’m inclined to believe she’s right.)

Their entire account is composed solely of reposts and I haven’t seen a smidge of original content. It’s really frustrating and insulting to see tweet after tweet of your content being shamelessly reposted for retweets and likes. I’m not the only content creator they pillage — I’ve seen gifs from @hozierey @prideandprejudice @bennskywalker @logan-solo @zaneholtzwrites @sacrebee @bukaterswanscavenger @reylodaily @bb-8 @solosheart @reylocore and many, many others. The owner of that account clearly knows that what they’re doing is disrespectful because each time someone tries to talk to them, they block the person. I messaged them in DMs and got blocked, my friend commented on my tweet about them and got blocked for that (the reposter was previously following her, and the reposter also reposted her gifs after cropping out the watermark), and my other friend commented on the reposter’s tweets and asked for credit, and also got blocked. It’s very telling behaviour.

I don’t want to stop creating content just because of an unfortunate situation — antis weren’t able to make me stop creating things, so this person certainly won’t — but I also feel aggrieved and taken advantage of. It’s very disheartening. 😔

Adam Driver Tag Challenge!

When did/What was your first film in which you discovered Adam? The first movie I saw with him in it was Lincoln, but I didn’t recognize him, obviously. But when I DISCOVERED him, it was around 2013/2014 and my friend had propositioned me to watch Girls. So I binged the first two seasons and then waited impatiently for the third. So it wasn’t a film, but a television show.

Do you remember what your first impression was? What was it? In Lincoln? A super brief and passing thought, I’m pretty sure. Nothing profound. The moment I saw him in Girl’s however, I knew I was in trouble.

Favorite Adam Driver Movie? It really changes depending on my mood. Probably a tie between Marriage Story and Paterson.

Favorite Adam Driver character? Most of them are so damn good that it also depends on my mood, but I tend to fluctuate between Ben Solo and Pale.

Least favorite Adam Driver character? Toby...

Favorite SNL skit? B.K. Joe, maybe? I find myself watching it the most often. Not because it’s particularly funny, but because I think he’s so unironically handsome it. Lmao. Humor wise, obviously Career Day!

Least favorite SNL skit? Undercover Boss: Where Are They Now? In MY opinion, and I know other people enjoyed it so I’m glad they did, I thought it was a very pitiful attempt to reclaim some of Matt’s glory. Should have just brought back that character instead, somehow.

Favorite Adam Driver hairstyle? Adam’s short Canne’s hair to Adam’s medium Canne’s hair.

Least favorite Adam Driver movie? I instinctively wanna say TROS because I’m still bitter but, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was... something.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you like him? How much do I admire his worth ethic and as an actor? 10. As a person? I don’t know him as a person so I couldn’t really say, but from what he has shown us, I think he is as lovable of a person as he could be. Otherwise I wouldn’t have dedicated a blog to him! Lol.

Do you think he’s a good actor? Don’t take my word for it, take every director he’s ever worked with’s word for it. ;) His accent work isn’t great, though. Bless his heart. The man had to have a flaw somewhere.

Do you think he’ll ever win an Oscar? Honestly? It’s going to be awhile. Not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because I think he’s going to be another Leo in giving knock out performances for decades, or Joaquin in how he will ultimately win the award for a lesser role(not necessarily performance). If the Oscar’s were based on talent and talent ONLY, I would say ABSOLUTELY. If we’re lucky, hopefully Annette won’t fade into obscurity for being too surreal?

What is a role or character you would want to see him play? Period dramas of different varieties, mostly. I don’t really think in terms of what characters I’d want him to play, but who I’d like to see him work with and what genre. A psycho thriller most of all, because I know he’d knock it out of the park.

1. Rey with Ben’s lightsaber - One of the first gifsets I ever made. I definitely wasn’t expecting this gifset to blow up the way it did, but it motivated me to start editing, and making gifsets became my creative outlet. So i would say this is the one that started it all. 

2. This Love Is Worth The Fight - Can you tell I love Reylo with TSwift lyrics? I was listening to State of Grace and when she sang this lyric, I knew it captured Reylo’s dynamic perfectly. A lot of Taylor’s songs are pretty much spot on in terms of Rey and Ben’s relationship, and I always feel so inspired when I listen to her music. 

3. Inspired by a Dramione Edit - Someone reblogged this on my timeline and while I was scrolling through it, I could already piece together the scenes that I would use if it were a Reylo edit, so I decided to make it a Reylo edit. I really like how each gif encapsulated the words that were on them. 

4. The Planets of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - I was actually surprised that no one had already made this gifset, considering the fact that there were so many landscape shots in Star Wars. This gifset literally took me hours because I had to research every planet that appeared in the movies, go through the movies and capture multiple scenes if possible, and determine which one was the best. But I’m super proud of the way each gif turned out and how HQ they were. 

5. Gifset inspired by Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves - This edit wasn’t as successful as I hoped it would be considering the amount of work I put into it, but I’m still super proud of it. Rainbow is a perfect song for Ben, because his life has been an endless cycle of trials and tribulations, but there has always been a rainbow hanging over his head 🌈
