Things I noticed during my Sonic Movie rewatch:

- Sonic was so small and cute I'm gonna cry

- This is genuinely a really beautiful movie, has plenty of gorgeous shots. Great cinematography.

- Tom and Maddie's relationship was handled really well. They written like a strong couple who are very supportive of each other.

- love this version of Robotnik more than the one in the sequel tbh. It's more removed from his game counterpart but he's more true to the doctor's core traits (his ego, love for machines and dislike for humanity).

- James Marsden has unparalleled dad energy. Could you imagine if they got someone like Chris Pratt to play Tom?

-The CGI and effects aged really well, it genuinely looks better than a lot of current superhero movies despite being four years old.

- Jim Carrey and Lee Majdoub changed lives.

- I understand the complaints regarding the soundtrack in Sonic 2, but the one in this movie was really memorable. My favorite tracks are "Welcome to Green Hills", "Dr. Robotnik" and "He is my Friend".

Kon, Tim, Cassie, and Bart go to a haunted house (you know, the normal kind, with actors in costumes and spooky effects) for a bit of Halloween fun. All is well, until it isn't. Kon, Tim, Cassie, and Bart end up in a house that's haunted, alright. And it's not inclined to let them go.

“Ohmygod this is taking so loooong.” Bart latches onto Kon’s arm and hangs off his shoulder, swinging himself back and forth like Kon’s just a piece of playground equipment. “Ugghhh! Conner, make them hurry up.”

“We’re literally next up,” Cassie laughs. She hefts her little plastic axe, spins it between her fingers, and slots it neatly back into the holster on her belt; the keys on the heart-shaped carabiner clip next to it jingle merrily.

Yeah, Kon thinks. Cassie pulls off butch lumberjack chic quite well.

Bart slams his face into Kon’s shoulder in consternation. “That’s still taking too long! We’ve been in line forever…”

“Hey!” Kon pries him off. “Don’t get Sonic juice on my yellow shirt. It’ll stain!”

I really want to give a shout-out to the Mobile Frame Zero community for the really, really cool work they’ve done since the following work was made possible by their efforts.

So, I watched all of Evangelion and was like “wow, mechs vs monsters is so sick like for real”

So my next Lego project is going to be mechs vs monsters in a micro city, thus continuing my trend of projects that stretch my collection instead of building on it.

While Brikwars shenanigans continue I have been building the mechs.

Here they are, a handsome little collection.

I wanted to write this post to expand on the lore of each machine but also to give credit to the excellent mech and frame builders I copied from. I think I have a real talent for castles and landscapes but machines and space builds still don’t feel right, so I’m thankful for others who have paved the way.

W-024 “Ancient Ode” is one of the original War Class mechs before the expansion of their battlefield roles, and is now one of the last to operate. It owes its longevity to numerous upgrades given its stellar combat record across conflicts and operators. It keeps its original colors, an homage to the Army it used to serve.

This one is based on principles from Josh's Super Chub Marines, though I've multiplied the legs and made some significant changes to the arms and shoulders. This mech was originally going to be a melee focused machine, but the super chub legs have some balance problems when posing, and I was frustrated by the lack of articulation in the ankles.

The solution came to me in a dream (Armored Core VI). I doubled the legs for a quadrupedal design, inspired by the success I had using them against Sea Spider. Now it stays upright effortlessly and I could also use more sand green (one of the best Lego colors). In general, the four legs allow for beefier body parts and the back-mounted rocket launcher.

“W-class” refers to a time when mechs were first used for warfare instead of construction or manufacturing. Today, Ancient Ode would be referred to a BL-Class (Battleline), but owing to its service record the original classification sticks. Ancient Ode is the Ma Deuce of battle mechs. I enhanced the build with stickers from the Avatar sets, though I was disappointed when the sand green on the stickers clashes with the brick color.

A-094 "Distant Oath" was one of the first artillery class mechs produced, as such the it was outfitted with a now-obsolete shoulder-mounted heavy cannon. While heavy cannon mounted in this manner such as the LM-15 Ultra Sonic have gone out of fashion in favor of much larger cannon or shorter range missile pods (a precursor of which is mounted on the right shoulder), it has been impractical to repurpose A-class mechs like Distant Oath.

Distant Oath is heavily based on the MF0 frame Uhlan Marine by skroberto on Flickr. I had to figure out most of it from his photos and other resources on the MF0 Facebook page. It's a great frame, but I made some internal changes to make it suitable for physical construction. Unfortunately, it is the least stable mech in the collection because the “knee” joint is a round tile using opposite anti-studs to hold the legs together.

Given the stability problems and its size I decided it would be an artillery piece. I added some stickers from a Mindstorms set, and the “A” in “A-class” was derived from the stickers. The cannon has one that says “Ultra Sonic” so that’s the name of the cannon. Distant Oath was almost a shade of blue, but I was using Orange while I designed it and decided I loved it too much to change.

S-62-2 “Wild Eyes” is a strike/support class mech designed for air superiority missions. These machines are among the newest frames produced, with boosted legs for softer landings and a lighter exoskeleton to let the booster engines really shine. They are useful for sustained flight and boosting directly into engagements.

This is a combination of concepts from -SuspendedAnimation-'s Rigel II and Andromeda MFO frames that use their X-11 core.

Wild Eyes is a strike/support class because I’ve decided that machines that are smaller and more mobile can have so many different roles that it would be impractical to classify them all different. The color chosen for the only soft blue that includes the chest piece and the shoulder bricks. Wild Eyes is a little lanky after I modified the arms to be more posable and it looked very “flight” to me so I gave them a real set of boost engines designed to fly around and harass.

I used more mindstorms stickers since they are transparent, but I was able to find some for the fund that say “Danger, Jet Blast” in a Marvel jet I could cut apart to fit.

S-973 No Survivors is a strike/support class mech designed for sustained ground operations. It's outfitted with stronger than standard armor and a booster engine for mobility to offset the additional weight. Additionally, it's equipped with a utility launcher for tactical munitions or a short range pile driver. Often, this style of S-class mechs carries a melee weapon, and No Survivors wields an RES (Rapid Energy Sword).

This one is a modified version of -SuspendedAnimation-'s Comanche core. I changed the shoulder and elbow assembly because I don't like how fragile modified tiles and taps are, something I also did for Wild Eyes and Ancient Ode. The rifle is their design as well.

Once again, the mech’s numerical designation is derived from the stickers. This one uses several unmodified from a Marvel jet. Like Distant Oath, No Survivors has last resort munitions in the chest. The RES isn’t a static blade like a lot of other mech settings, as that would be impractical when trying to fight in between buildings. It operates a little bit like a lightsaber, activating when necessary, and the energy isn’t all that stable. It explodes out from the handle and is closer to a giant lighter than a true sword.

I’m excited to get the city built for the mechs to romp around in. I have a few buildings mocked up already, but I don’t have space for more until I can block out the roadways. I love how AC6 cities are laid out and will be taking lots of inspiration from there. I also want to do some retractable structures like Tokyo-3.

Okay so; another little one punch man ramble. {SPOILERS! :D}

This is for the non revised lastest chapters in specific, and the monster association arc.

The parallels between Saitama and Flash,

Originaly from a conversation with my friend @kachikirby , it might be extremly obvious to everyone but id like to speak about it anyways! :D

To elaborate a tiny bit more on this and mostly rephrase ; So both have their own foe to defeat; Saitama with Garou and Flash with Emtpy void (motivated to fight god himself).

Both of their enemies is possessed by said god. And both wanted something out of the other party. Garou wanted to fight Saitama at his best and Empty Void deemed Flash worthy enough to be gifted the same "possession". So to throw both off they needed to get a reaction, something that'd break something inside of them.

Both don't have all that much to look to, even if we know less about Flash, i think it's safe to assume he's lonely and focuses on his strenght. Saitama is simillar, a man so bored with his own strenght.

But, both have someone, now you might add that Garou also managed to kill all other heroes (and more) present near him which certainly did not help Saitama feel better, which i will agree with! But the main factor for the whole state he gets into after stays Genos. (It's also heavily heavily implied/basicaly said that Saitama relies Genos for support and all of that) Saitama recieves Genos' core- his heart.

Now Flash on the other hand, despite his messy fall out with Sonic, said Sonic is really the only one he has. They both were each other's only source of "happiness" during the times when they were in the ninja training thing. They both relied on each other and had a whole dream with each other. They both have a very strong history despite their falling out. And even after that they do still care for one another. So, even with what Flash says to Blast about being soft in the revised version, he too, has a weakness in the form of someone else. Flash receives Sonic's head as his dismembered remains falls in the back. His head is even cut in half. In the middle, horizontaly.

Now, hear me out, im pretty sure there's a connection between God and the brain (as well as psychic powers and the moon but anyways,) and Sonic's head was cut in a way that kept said brain intact. I don't have much on this part right now but i do believe theres a link between all of those things---

Also could it be said that there was Heart and Mind (Reason and feelings) parallels

SO

Sonic's dead was false. It's a projection made from Empty Void to Flash, an illusion to break his spirit. WHICH SUCCEEDED. And broke Flash for long enough to able Empty Void to get the cube to touch him.

Meanwhile, Genos' death was fully real. He was really dead when Saitama fought with Garou.

But all turned out alright for the four of them. Flash got saved by Sonic, who was fully alive and well. And Saitama turned back time which allowed Genos to be alive again (and all the other heroes but you know)

So; both also had similar expressions at simmilar time. Faces shadowed out except for eyes. (Saitama's eyes don't appear on most of the pannels however) But both were clearly in a form of distress over someone they care about dying. They're both well aquainted with Death. They're heroes who kill monsters. And Flash also is an assassin.

It can also be said that they would not really have made it out on their own in some ways. Genos' core being there managed, in some ways, to keep Saitama's brain mostly in check (if you get what i mean). Saitama could probably have been way more dangerous otherwise. And Sonic managed to snap Flash out of the possession before God took a hold of him.

Because in the end, God is a convincing little meanie. Taking the form of someone you trust. (Except in psychos case where she fused with someone already gifted by god i believe) (and that homeless emporor who i believe saw a version of god because he perhaps didn't have anyone close to him.) So Flash did see Sonic, like if all his life and troubles were just a bad dream, he was in front of his childhood friend, in a vast field, being reassured by the other he just saw being cut apart seconds earlier.

And both Flash and Saitama know each other. And both lived trough their first encounter with God next to each other (along Manako)

All of this to say that both their parallels are very dear to me. I wonder what we'll see of it in the revised version!

I originally got really into Prime because of the Sonadow fodder but now it’s cuz of Nine and Sails and Mangey. I think Tails is my fav Sonic character now lol. Nine is my /absolute/ favorite but in other media I’ve started favoring Tails. I, of course, have my own silly little headcanons for all the foxes. I’ll probably talk abt them more when I post this canvas of just doodles I’ve been slowly filling up, but here’s some rn:

All four foxes are autistic

Nine is nonbinary and uses they/them

Nine is a self-harmer, hence the reason they wear knee-length shorts

Mangey is mostly non-speaking, but can talk/learn to talk. He just communicates using more animal-like behavior because he likes it more (also cuz autism).

Nine is 13 y/o, Tails and Sails are 12 y/o, and Mangey is 11 y/o

I really like a lot of @/000marie198’s ideas abt the fox boys (gender neutral), but the one abt Sails liking metal music is one that I think about a lot. Slipknot is one of my favorite bands lmao

Mangey is TERRIFIED of thunder storms and starts freaking out before they are even overhead cuz he can feel one coming. He tries to get everyone to somewhere he deems safe and they’re all confused cuz a storm is no where in sight.

• these silly guys are the cores of every being. which means you got a bean deep down in there too.

• beans show a person’s true feelings and thoughts about smth. so if you really want to eat that bento then your bean will waddle eagerly towards it.

• beans have significantly lower powers compared to their full selves. for example urogi’s bean (BUROGI 🔥🔥) can do sonic screech but he’ll sound like a moderately loud squeak toy.

• the only actual way they can harm you is if they bite you real hard. (cough sekido bean cough)

• beans ruffle their fluff when they’re scared, but puff up when they’re content. ruffling makes their fluff spiky while puffing makes them look rounder.

• beans’ legs tense up and become sharp when they’re hostile. they can’t really scratch you though.

• conversely, beans lump when they’re super relaxed. basically they “melt” till you can’t see their legs anymore, or their legs are barely defined.

So I’ve been going through all of The Bumblekast, Ian Flynn’s and Kyle “KyleJCrb” Crouse’s podcast, and cherry-picking the questions that interest me (as it’s a QnA podcast). One question answered in the April 24th, 2023 episode (source) was the following:

“The IDW original cast are all great characters, but it feels like they haven't had a lot of chances to have their relationships with the main game cast explored much so far. So to keep it fairly concise, let's stick with the core four for now(Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles). Which member (s) of the IDW cast would you personally like to explore their relationships with and what kind of dynamic do you think they would have with them? For example, I think Tails and Tangle would have a really fun dynamic.”

At timestamp 18:30, Kyle asks Ian, “What about Lanolin and Amy?” and Ian’s response was so validating:

Let’s just say that I’ve been cooking with someone in my DMs and I think we’re on to something based on Ian’s seeming intentions—and I think we’re gonna see it soon, too.

I’m not nearly as angry about Lanolin as a character existing in her current state if the intention is for her to be put in her place. Because that’s means there IS an intention for her and she IS meant to irritate the reader because she IS supposed to be in the wrong.

If the comic ultimately plans to make a statement against Lanolin’s behaviour to teach some lesson about how you shouldn’t impose yourself/your opinions on others, then I am all for it. And for all the reasons Ian notes, I think Amy to be the one to take that stand makes a lot of sense (and is something that I actually predicted).

Here’s hoping Lanolin gets the development she deserves and that she’s not just a wasted character.

How I imagine different Sonic characters would play Minecraft

Sonic:

Speedrunner, he speedruns everything that is possible to speedrun. He has 172 worlds and all of them have less than half an hour of play time. On multiplayer, he blows out two totems per session.

Shadow:

Refuses to play on Creative mode because it's 'cheating'. Will strip mine for about four hours at a time, build a giant deepslate fortress, and call it a starter base.

Espio:

Terrible at PVP despite having a worrying number of hours on Hypixel. Great at parkour, makes extremely pointless and convoluted redstone contraptions in Creative mode. Has a glass house filled with jeb_ sheep.

Silver:

Plays a bootleg version of pocket edition that still has the nether reactor core, only five hotbar slots, days that last twelve hours, diamonds on all y levels, and 1x1 dark oak trees.

Tails:

Built redstone so bad that he accidentally pioneered a whole new generation of redstone techniques (see: Mumbo). Once he masters these, he will be unstoppable.

Cream:

Makes flower gardens, bee houses, pretty castles, and brutally violent mob farms.

Vector:

u/ChaotixCrocV: Minecraft Bedrock Edition is the worst game ever made. Even worse than Sonic 06.

Charmy:

His entire creative world is filled with rainbow beacons, towers, and dangling mobs. For some reason, amidst the chaos, there is a rather impressive floating island build that he shows to every living (or dead) thing that enters the room.

Knuckles:

He plays Minecraft on a twelve year old HP laptop with a render distance of three chunks, but claims it's just for the "fog aesthetic" and not because his PC is permanently broken. For some reason, he's really good at renovating witch huts.

Amy:

Can kill anything and everything with anything and everything. Builds pixel art and map art.

Blaze:

Can build beautiful organic structures of any mythical creature you like, and create huge towns surrounding them. Exclusively plays on Creative mode with shaders and 32-bit texture packs.

Eggman:

Obviously Wally, Linda and the kids would go as the Incredibles for Halloween, right? They are literally a family of superpowered heroes who fight crime together. They have three kids, a boy, a girl and a baby. They would have to go as the Incredibles, right??? They only have so long until the baby isn't a baby anymore. They gotta seize their chances.

Meanwhile the core four should be the Powerpuff Girls + Tim as the Professor. Cassie as Bubbles, Kon as Buttercup, Bart as Blossom. Bart could even do the streaky zoom effect and Cassie&Kon can fly. It's perfect.

Barry and Iris go as Ghostbusters and their lil toddler twins go as lil tiny baby ghosts. (Hal can be a third Ghostbuster if he wants to)

Ace planned out a Pokemon couples costume with Emiko and they're going as Ash and Pikachu. Ace is Pikachu because of his lightning obviously.

Avery is going as Sonic the Hedgehog because Bart told her that it was a family tradition that someone goes as Sonic. She goes as the creepy OG CGI movie Sonic though.

Jesse goes as the Statue of Liberty. Her baby son is the torch and her husband is a tourist. Something, something, her son is the light of her life and Jesse is a queen.

Jay and Joan go as Popeye and Olive Oil because of course they would. They are old and in love. Let them be old and in love.

Max doesn't get Halloween so he doesn't go as anything.

I've decided I don't like the term "Team Sonic" as it's commonly used. I think it should just mean Sonic + his allies at this specific moment (for example, in Unleashed, "Team Sonic" would be Sonic, Chip, Amy, Tails, and maybe you can even add Pickle and other characters that assist Sonic), instead of carrying the implication of an organized unit, like Team Dark or the Chaotix.

Henceforth, I'm gonna be calling the

Knuckles + Sonic + Tails formation "The RYB trio" (Ik it used to be Triple Threat, but barely anyone uses it like that anymore, and it's not very descriptive on its own)

And the

Knuckles + Amy + Sonic + Tails formation "The Core Four" (which is what I've already been doing anyway)

Sonic would never be on an organized team, but he's still allowed to have best friends and people he prefers spending time with, it's not contradictory.
