It’s way too late at night for me to be posting something this stupid but I’m also very autistic rn and I need to talk about this. Which means I’m gonna need to make something clear before I say this, my blog is NOT for kids. I know I’ve been posting about Sonic recently because hyperfixation go brrrr but if you’re under, like, 15 I don’t consider my blog safe for you. This is primarily a mental health blog, focused around my bpd. I’m saying this all at the start because… this post is gonna tackle some pro-shipper stuff that I’m definitely thinking about due to my own trauma, and I don’t think this is a good post for a kid who loves Sonic to read.

About Surge and Kit. I see them like Ashley and Andrew from The Coffin Of Andy And Leyley. Deeply fucked up and codependent, to such a degree it becomes incestuous. Yeah, as I said, fucked up. The writers will obviously never confirm this (in fact they’ll vehemently deny it, and for good reason) but the evidence is in the text. Surge and Kit are simultaneously toxic sibling coded AND toxic couple coded. I don’t believe that’s a mistake (much like Rouge gives off some heavily uncomfy vibes in the early days of Flynn’s run on the Archie stuff). And I don’t at all think it’s there to be duplicated in real life. Flynn and Stanley, from what I’ve read from them, seem to have a solid grasp of the line, but that line is older (age-wise) than you might think. Take one look at the Metal Virus Saga and you’ll see what I mean. I think they wanted to depict a horrible toxic and fucked up sibling relationship, much like The Coffin Of Andy And Leyley, and the most powerful way to do that is to cross that relationship into something else. Something darker. And personally, I appreciate it. I think it’s important to show how trauma can twist relationships like this, and it’s particularly important for kids to know what abusive dynamics look like. That’s part of why Tangled is one of my favorite Disney Princess movies (feel free to silently judge me, I’m an emo alt girl who likes Disney, I’m used to it). Plus… it’s an interesting wrinkle on (particularly recent) Sonic and Tails stuff. I’m a firm believer that a big part of the reason Tails was so out of character in Lost World and Forces was there was a SonicxTails shipper on staff. This takes that to its logical extreme, and contrasts it phenomenally. Sonic and Tails are brothers in all but blood, they have a healthy distance, rag on each other a bit, but ultimately are always there for one another. It’s literally the dream sibling experience. Surge and Kit are… Surge is constantly dominating Kit, and Kit is more than willing to serve her however she needs. He has always loved her deeply and wanted the best for her (because of how Starline fucked with their brains), even once he’d learned he’d been brainwashed to feel that way. At first Surge had shown zero care for Kit, but now she seems to love him too. Wanting to actively involve him in her plans to rip apart Sonic and friends. She still constantly demonstrates her dominance over him, but no longer in a hostile way (most of the time). It’s more… loving. It’s fucked as hell but she gives off rough mommy domme vibes for him (as I said, this post is fucked up). I mean, there’s a reason Mimic made the “shared room” joke in the latest issue, it’s not subtle.

the most personal, soul exposing thing I think I could ever do, would be to let some one go through my ao3 bookmarks, even the private ones…. Like the amount of #asexual ♠️ 🐉🌌who kinda likes monsterfucking vibes but is also a depressed millennial who was into Harry Potter and anime and tumblr of yore. Yeesh, how cringe and vulnerable that would be.

Because I like to write when very high and used to write poetry as a moody teen. A good old internet rant into the void. This will get long and old school text formatting like the book House of Leaves is a thing I really love so weird punctuation and spacing ahead.

Also, also recently returned to tumblr… lured like a siren into this hell scape of super niche fandoms…. I blame @strange-aeons for making me nostalgic for this place.

On that note. I am actually editing this but mostly because my brain wanted to add things as I read this over for typos because cringe.

Nostalgia leads to reminiscing. I think it was @blackkatmagic who said in a note, that like some niche pairing of fandom like a ship no one asked for but one person dreamed of and a handful of other people liked, is like being in a little boat with them.

(And I had to go find that post so here it is)

And I really like that idea and I like writing stream of consciousness rants when high and also graphs, like data visualization, because I’m an engineer. So a nerd for Venn diagrams that are cool. Like can I make a web diagram bubble graph combo with bubble size for intensity of interest and lines to show how one community spawned an interest in another community? Maybe throw in a color scale for vibes? Like who are the landmarks I use to remember my internet past. Is this what mark zuckerburg is aiming to make for all of us? Can someone build this digital map of my psyche?

Let’s start listing citations to make this glorious journal paper of a post. Giving @strange-aeons or @danielhowell vibes but also @somemorenews and also @scishow and @fishingboatprocceeds energy.

This is like just feeling the need to give a good old trying to describe a very specific mood rant that live journal used to be for.….

Do I have the energy? No.

Is this stream of consciousness prose that I am writing while very high and curled in a blanket on my couch while having been overcome by emotion from a fanfic I was reading about a super random cross over of two media from my childhood? Then yes this is me. I am a garbage gremlin of a person who is shockingly successful in life despite my very fun depression and health issues who has way too many parasocial relationships in proportion to real world actual humans I see and interact with on a daily basis.

Is it not the human experience to try and communicate who we are to the world? The innate desire to be seen and known?

Or is that way to high brow for me just wanting to list a bunch of things I like so when I’m having a bad day I can come to this post and just be like…. Oh yeah I did like that one thing.

Like that one video by Drew/Danny/Kurtis that somehow always makes me laugh. Like that friend I had who I could also make laugh by playing the look at this graph vine? 📊. Yes like that. So this my reminder that hey stuff is good and joyful and cringe sometimes, so on the bad days go look at this stuff. I feel @danielhowell has thoughts on this.

That’s it. I should go to sleep. It’s midnight and I have work tomorrow and my cat is glaring at me because we are not snuggling yet.

Announcing of Dropping DIABOLIK LOVERS MORE;BLOOD

To sum things up:

Someone leaked the Diabolik Lovers Limited V Edition patch, posting it publicly despite all our warnings and requests. Thus we are following through with our original policy.

We’re stopping every projects related to Diabolik Lovers, including further support for Limited V Edition, and there won’t be a patch for More;Blood.

Collar x Malice Unlimited will still be released, but privately. After all, you guys will get the English version of it from Aksys for the switch next year!

I (the leader of otogetranslations) will still be helping other translators with their projects: Brothers Conflict, Hakuoki SSL. How the patch is gonna be distributed is up to their respective leaders (coquettishcat for Hakuoki SSL, and PassionandBrilliance for Brothers Conflict).

No more Black Wolves Saga. This project I (Reishiki) started by asking permission to use existing translation from orlandoblue @tumblr, Siberia (twitter.com/bakemeatz). The patch of Black Wolves Saga Bloody Nightmare is to be completed soon. But it’s no more.

Read on if you wanted to know what really happened:

As you all know, we released DIABOLIK LOVERS LIMITED V EDITION fan translation patch this August 16th, 2019 for homebrew enabled/hacked Playstation vita, and only for people that have proof or purchasing the game.

There are over 50 people who showed us the proof of purchasing the game and they received the patch for free. All we asked was for you to actually buy the game before you can play it with a hacked playstation vita.

Our 30-people team worked on the patch for 10 months. We only used outsource translation for 8/277 total scripts. Our in-house hacker did the romhacking process, our in-house proofreaders proofed the translation, our recruited translators worked on the translation. Everything was done by us and it’s our team effort. So we have the right to decide how we’re gonna distribute it.

However, on August 20th, 2019. Rojaaalice on reddit r/vitapiracy posted a thread, asking the patch to be given to them for free (without purchasing the game). A lot of people who frequent this subreddit accused us of being Gatekeepers, while all we’re doing is asking for proof of purchasing the game (not the patch, the patch is 100% free). Is buying the game you play wrong? Is asking for a proof of purchasing something you play gatekeeping, when we could have chosen to not share the patch at all in the first place?

I don’t think so.

But, this person, SilicaAndPina (https://twitter.com/SiliCart) is not happy with how we distribute our patch. He said that we should keep the vita hacking scene free, we can’t ask for people to buy anything to be able to get the PATCH that we worked on. He doesn’t play otome games in general, and he doesn’t even know what otome games is.

He started to trick me into giving the patch to him, by making a fake proof of purchase with a cloned gmail account. I noticed the proof was fake and didn’t give it to him. Then he got mad and sent this (WARNING: GORE IMAGE) to me. He stated that he will leak the patch eventually.

He attempted to acquire the patch once again with a different fake proof this time. I also noticed this and we trolled him by sending him a FAKE patch. We left the prologue in English and put ridiculous/crack fanfiction in other parts. He thought it was real and distributed it, declared he has won over us.

He thought he tricked us but no, we weren’t being tricked by his half-assed effort.

Today, August 22nd, there is someone from the DiaLover Fandom that received the real patch sent it over to him. I’m sorry to say that the patch would be leaked eventually, one way or another, because if someone really wants to leak it, they could buy the physical copy, take a photo with it and send it to us. Then they can sell the game to get the money back.

So, we lost.

But to the one that sent the patch to him, lost to the malice of this world, and not to him.

I had envisioned this would happen when I first started the project. So I’m not surprised. I had a small ray of hope this wouldn’t happen so soon, but I was wrong.

As we’ve stated before, we will cease every project translation related to DIABOLIK LOVERS.

No more patches of DIABOLIK LOVERS will be made from us, at least when I’m the leader of that project (as well as the leader of otogetranslations): Reishiki.

I’m proud to say our patch was enjoyed and praised by people that bought the game and received the patch.

I (Reishiki) will still be supporting other translators if they need it, but I won’t start any new project from now on (in which could be AMNESIA LATER/CROWD/WORLD, VARIABLE BARRICADE - these games I completed extracting the texts with our inhouse hacker’s help, and I planned to announce we would start one of these projects soon. But… I’m sorry to say that it’s no more. At least it won’t be made available to the public.)

JokerTrap-Ran: I think I just lost faith in the community as a whole again, coming back after 4 years. I hope you’re happy! This was really demoralising and I hope ya’ll had fun putting us down like that. I’m not one for drama and honestly I’d very much like to stay out of it considering the bad medicine bashing that happened on otome reddit about 3 years ago. I’ll continue releasing translations for blog’s followers but that’s it. I’m whimsical, and most of my followers know it. I pick things and I drop it all the same.

Khikari: For those who thinks that what we have committed is blasphemy and should be shut down for this, great, please take the time to learn Japanese yourself. Or learn to care about other people with emotions for once in you life. Demoralising people who were willing to work endless hours for free with just one condition sure is satisfying, isn’t it? It really hurt all of us. For those who genuinely cared and are saddened by this post, I am sorry and I wish the best for you all. I know that the few doesn’t represent all but this is a massive motivation killer, and I don’t need this drama in my life. From now on, private translations all the way! Also, Silica, attacking an idea is fine, but attacking people with malicious intent is stepping out of line. Enjoy being a rock specimen.

LoliChan195: I hope you are happy with what you have done! We only wanted to bring this out for people that had difficulties playing the game, and also help support Rejet by having more people buy their games. Its people like you that cause all these game companies to go bankrupt! (Also SiliCar, you sick fuck. Who sends pictures like that!? XD you’re probably just some edgy 12yr old XD Besides, who says WE WILL NOT FORGIVE XD what a dumbass! And is it that hard to search on google about the game? Why would we make it so it specifically needs to be the limited edition?!?! ) Seriously, the people who attacked us for putting the rule out are just as bad, like can’t you just wait and buy the game? Or even if u just pirate it, read online translations. Its not that hard!

Hermy: Nothing much to say, except, ya’ll could have totes pirated the game and played it along the translations available on the net. Welp, I hope you don’t dislike that idea too much because that’s what ya’ll gonna need to do if ya’ll wanna play the sequels.

PS: the MB translations available on the net are riddled with errors, but by all means have fun with them :)

Anon: Oh yes, silica? Perhaps you should just lead on with your true intentions next time instead of trying to honey your words and do some "re-con" for dots, yeah?

Marzi: I'm a bit numb to this situation at this point, but it is disheartening to know Silica was so intent on distributing our translations that he didn't stop even when we threatened to cease all translations. It wasn't like he was ever going to play the game - he just felt so personally offended by the fact that we were "gatekeeping" for some reason - which, in my opinion, is a bit of an immature reason to ruin a translation group. You can't argue that we're "unrightfully holding something when we don't have the intellectual rights," when you're bypassing all copyright laws as well in wanting to post it PUBLICALLY. But what's done is done - whoever manages to get a copy of this, I hope you enjoy it. Please know so much effort and passion went into these translations, and that we loved working on this project every bit of the way. If the game leaves you antsy for More Blood well LOL you know who prevented that from happening.

Sonic-nancy-fan: I never knew someone could have such an illogical mindset. Silica/PSSDude made the original base repatch program, and we used one that someone had edited and added to (which Silica was fine with). But, because he made the original one, that means he feels like HE can getekeep all uses of variations of it. This would be like saying people can’t use paper to make a paper airplane because the original creator of paper said no, or you can’t print manga because Gutenberg said no. Also, who in the world thinks they can take a moral high-ground by telling us to promote piracy? Patches are already a sort of grey area, so we were trying to take the most legal method available while still making a patch. I know in modern society, piracy is very common, but I can’t imagine your average person would call us in the wrong for trying to hinder piracy. God forbid we try to get people to buy Diabolik Lovers. I can’t say I’m shocked as I expected it to get leaked sometime. I’m just saddened at certain people’s general hate and unyielding desire to leak it. So, I don’t blame the community as a whole, nor do I feel any malice toward the community (we had a lot of people buy the game and get excited). I’m just mad at very specific spiteful people. Also, if I ever hear someone say “the scene” as much as Silica, I’m going to go nuts. It sounds like something the “cool guy” in an 80’s show would say.

My Thoughts on Star Wars Episode VIII

Opinions, observations on The Last Jedi and predictions for episode 9 below the cut. Naturally there are spoilers ahead.

Before I start, please be aware that whilst this post is not at all focussed on shipping, there are anti-reylo sentiments at a couple of points and the post is generally anti-Kylo.

So, I saw Star Wars last night. Before we went, my friend and I were discussing some of the things we had predicted, or had seen predicted online, that would happen in this episode, our main theories being:

Kylo and Rey would swap places, with Rey being seduced by the dark side and Kylo moving back towards the light. It nearly happened and I’m incredibly relieved it didn’t.

Reveal of Rey’s parents as Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker, with Kylo having killed Mara Jade in the massacre at the Skywalker training temple, and Luke having rescued Rey and taken her to Jakku for her own protection. I don’t know anything about the expanded Star Wars universe so I leave this one in Miran’s hands.

Since neither of these actually came to pass, I’ll move on quickly to my thoughts on the film.

I think this film can be summed up thus: “The Resistance spends 2.75 hours running away from the First Order in the universe’s slowest space chase.”

OH MY GOD THIS HAS TO BE THE LONGEST FILM I’VE EVER SEEN. Seriously the film was great but it was just too long. Every time I thought that they were coming to a logical ending point and thought I could foresee an ending taking shape, they tacked on another climax point. This film could have ended sensibly five times before it actually did.

Five possible alternate ending points were:

Finn and Rose’s mission to turn off the tracking string is successful with various other mishaps along the way; Poe has to perform incredible feats of flight to make sure they get back on the resistance ship before it jumps to light speed and leaves them behind, as well as the three of them getting Rey from Snoke’s ship and getting her back as well.

Everything proceeds as with the film, but the evacuation to the mine planet is done successfully and the film ends with them in hiding on the mine planet.

Everything proceeds with the film as expected until the sonic boom cannon thing makes an appearance; I was honestly expecting Rose to shove Finn’s speeder out of the way and take the suicidal run to blow up the cannon herself. I didn’t want her to because I like Rose and want to see her in future films, but considering she’d already lost everything, it seemed like it was going that way.

Resistance allies arrive and deal with First Order ground troops either before or after the cannon fires.

End on a cliffhanger with Luke appearing in the base and/or going out to meet Kylo.

It just felt that every time they could have ended the film, they decided to add more on.

Other observations:

- ALL OF THEIR PROBLEMS (well most of them) COULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED IF POE AND HOLDO HAD JUST FUCKING TALKED TO EACH OTHER!!!!! If they had actually talked to each other about their plans, then everything would have been solved.

- I loved how anticlimactic and ignominious Snoke’s death was.

- I am incredibly, incredibly glad that they decided to completely subvert Kylo’s redemption arc and not fall into the trope of ‘pretty white girl’s tender affection is what redeems problematic white boy’. They came so close and I was there with head in hands fully expecting it to go that way, but they didn’t.

- I almost feel sorry for Hux in that his leader is now basically a whiny teenager, only this whiny teenager has the ability to force-choke him whenever he gets angry.

- Does Kylo even have a plan moving forward? His only plan seems to be ‘wipe out the resistance’, but if he doesn’t have a plan for the resistance to resist... What’s the point?

- Finn v. Phasma = two thumbs up from me. One of the best fights of the film.

- The entire thing with the codebreaker just jarred me. Maz told them to find the guy with the red buttonhole. They found the guy, and randomly decided to go off with another guy whom they had no idea who he was and who had not been vouched for by Maz instead. Sure, he got them out of jail, but they had no proof that he could do any of what he said he could, they literally met him two minutes before, and they were discussing delicate military tactics in front of him which ultimately cost them hundreds of lives. It just felt like the characters were making stupid decisions for plot purposes. They could have easily broken out, found the buttonhole guy they were meant to find, and still run into a whole ton of problems and ended up the same position, but it would not have been as a result of blindly trusting the wrong people.

- I am sure that there is more to Rey’s story than meets the eye, because why did she see her younger self being left on Jakku when she touched Luke’s lightsaber in Force Awakens? All the other images she saw were through Luke’s eyes, which is why I assumed that Luke had been there when she was left on Jakku for some reason. WE HAVE TO GO BACK TO JAKKU!

- At first I thought they were setting it up for Poe to be the new Han, Rey and Finn together to be the new Luke, Kylo to be the new Vader and Snoke to be the new Palpatine. Now it looks like they’re setting up Poe to be the new Leia, Rey to be the new Luke, Finn to be the new Han and Kylo to be the new Palpatine, with Snoke as a red herring.

Major theories and predictions for episode nine.

Miran and I came up with the theory that the final trilogy is mirroring the original trilogy, but in sort of in reverse, thus ending up where the series began (in chronological order of film release, not in actual film order) and bringing the films full circle, with the prequels standing alone as a history. Fantasy and sci-fi sagas very often move in cycles (it’s a major plot of the Belgariad and Mallereon), and it’s not too much of a stretch to believe that Star Wars is moving likewise and is on its second cycle now.

As such we’re predicting various events of episode nine based on events of episode four.

This is just our personal theory and we’re probably reading way, way too much into it, but we’re having a lot of fun with it. Also, it made us see just how similar in plot New Hope and Return of the Jedi are.

So far, Force Awakens mirrors New Hope in various ways (find a jedi on a desert planet, escape in the Falcon, droid in charge of delicate information vital to rebellion etc), but also mirrors Return of the Jedi thus:

- Junkyard/scavenger society on Jakku sort of mirrors Hutt society on Tattooine.

- Resistance base in TFA is on a planet very similar to Endor in RotJ.

- In TFA they know what they’re up against (Starkiller) and pretty much know already how they’re going to defeat it. It’s a huge space station that destroys planets. In ANH, the Death Star was something new, the likes of which they had not seen before. By RotJ, they know what they’re up against and how to defeat it: It’s a huge space station that destroys planets.

- A very well-known and pivotal character dies - Vader in RotJ and Han in TFA. Arguably Han’s death mirrors Obi-Wan’s in ANH, but at the time of release, Obi-Wan was not as well-known and pivotal as he later became.

The Last Jedi mirrors Empire Strikes Back thus:

- Ahch-To mirrors Dagobah. Complete with sunken x-wings!

- Rey learns from Luke mirroring Luke learning from Yoda.

- In both, the hero (Luke/Rey) is tempted by the dark side but chooses the light (Luke throws himself off a radio tower, Rey chooses to fight Kylo).

- In both we meet the big bad and find he’s not actually all that impressive close-up.

- Both begin with an evacuation and end with the rebels on the back foot.

- Both have major parentage reveals, but here’s where the reversal starts coming in - Luke’s parent who was assumed to be no-one particularly special turns out to be Vader. Rey’s parents who were assumed to be important are revealed not to be.

- ESB starts with the rebels escaping a white planet and ends with them drifting in space. TLJ starts with them drifting in space and ends with them escaping a white planet.

So based on these parallels and reversals, our predictions for episode 9 mirroring and reversing New Hope.

- Mentor figure will die - Obi-Wan in ANH, naturally this will be Leia in Ep9. I think it likely that she will die off screen between the two films and her passing will be referred to in the opening text scroll.

- They will face something they have not faced before. The Death Star was something new in ANH; they were ready for it by RotJ. They were ready for Starkiller in TFA, so they’ll face something brand new and even deadlier in Ep9.

- We’ll end up back on Tattooine, where it all started. Or, if Jakku is now standing in as resident desert planet, we’ll end up back on Jakku, where this particular story cycle started.

- ANH begins with Luke losing his family; we predict Ep9 will end with Rey getting closure about her own, I am sure that we’ve not heard the full story.

- ANH opens with the government being disbanded, we predict Ep9 will end with government and democracy being restored.

Unrelated to the story cycle:

- We also think that the distress signal that went out to the resistance allies that was ignored was not in fact ignored - the resistance allies knew that if Leia was using her personal call then pretty much all hope was lost to the main resistance band, and instead of helping that little core group that would most likely be lost by the time they arrived, they used Leia’s signal as a rallying cry for the rest of them to come together and form a much larger resistance elsewhere.

- Linked to this, I like the idea of the Resistance not having a major base somewhere but actually being based out of the Falcon, able to pack up and move on at a moment’s notice, but just with little outposts here and there where they store munitions, supplies, fighters, fuel etc. I also like the idea of the Falcon being a decoy figurehead, with the Resistance still mobile on a different ship, but Chewey flying the Falcon all over the galaxy sending Kylo on a wild goose chase, whilst the Resistance move on in another direction.

Only another couple of years to wait to see if we’re right!
