i don’t know what’s funnier: spidernoir and spider-ham being invited to the spider society and them turning it down, or just straight up not being invited to join lmao

My headcanon is that since Miguel's lab is like the darkest and quietest part of the HQ it kinda doubles as best communal napping spot.
It makes it really hard to be all brooding when spider-werewolf-man is snoring in the background XD cue the silly platform.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
So we're just supposed to let people die because some algorithm says that that's supposed to happen? You realize how messed up that sounds, right?

The way Spider-verse inspires.
I was thinking about the meaning of mirrors, reflections and being upside down in this movie. I love how the Spot is never reversed in relation to Miles, almost as if they... mirrored each other 👀
Tumblr media
hey, look! now its upside down! just like in Spiderve- *gunshot sound*

Across the Spider-verse is 10/10 in animation, story, voice acting, and soundtrack (MILD spoilers)
To all the people who “Spider-Man can’t be black!” in 2018, Imma need y’all to hold that L indefinitely. Due to the concept of the multiverse, Spider-Man is literally all races, creeds, and backgrounds and it’s canon. There’s Indian, Muslima, paraplegic, Latino, and 4 different black Spider-people. The movie is 2hrs and 20-ish minutes, so PLEASE don’t bring your toddler cuz their attention span is gonna plummet an hour in. The plot of this movie is for the people who saw the first movie, so it’s matured with the original audience. Miguel O’Hara wants to preserve the multiverse (saving billions of lives), meaning each Spider-person’s story has to play out the same (get bit by a spider, your uncle dies, police captain dies). Miles Morales was NEVER supposed to be Spider-man (remember his spider came from Universe 42). Miguel’s all like “you’re not supposed to be Spider-Man but since you ARE Spider-Man, your police captain dad needs to die to keep your story consistent with the rest of us.” Miles response is “Hol’ up, you want me to sit back and let my dad die? I know these deaths make us who we are, but if we have the power to save people, then we should do the responsible thing and save them.” Both Miguel and Miles think they’re doing the responsible thing (letting canon play out vs saving lives regardless of canon). Miguel is lawful evil, believing the needs of the many outweigh the few. Miles’s very existence disrupts Spider-man canon, but he IS Spider-Man, whether he was fated to be or not. Also, Miguel keeps saying that the Spot is the huge threat to the multiverse then spends 15 minutes chasing down Miles, diverting a good portion of his resources to capturing him. HELLO, I thought you said the Spot >> Miles so why are you focusing on one kid and not the multiverse-ending superbeing?

Spiderverse au where Miles and The Spot actually team up as Miles is so betrayed and hurt by how everyone wanted him to accept his dad’s fate and don’t take him seriously or treat him like a mistake that he confides in the only other person that truly gets that in a fucked up way.
They plan to get rid of all the other Spiderverses so his universe is technically the focal point and universe that everything branches from so he can effectively decide what is canon in the Spiderverse and what isn’t.

thinking about how Miles's whole vibe when it comes to being spiderman and being a hero is that he does it for his people. he tries his hardest to save others, not just cause they're people with their own lives to lead, but because they're his people. he protects them like they're family.
but the second layer to him, is that anyone and everyone he interacts with on any level, are part of his people. it doesn't matter if he knows them or not, if they're even from his universe or not, because he's so kind and selfless and people-oriented.
he refuses to be lonely, he refuses to be this loner hero no one knows nothing about, that comes in, saves the day and disappears. he doesn't protect people because its his job, but because he wants to on such a deep and meaningful level. it sets him apart from other spider people we see (outside of pav and maybe some of the other teens, we don't see enough for me to judge them completely just yet), what makes him one of the best Spidermen.
saving people isn't a job, its a need for Miles. saving people isn't something he does cause they're innocent and its the right thing to do, its cause they're his people and he values them as not only living beings, but also as people with lives that are strands in the web of his life, and he doesn't want to lost them, even if they're technically a stranger or from a different universe.
life is something Miles can't put a price or stake on, he will always try to save everyone, because life is never a factor in a "greater good" situation. he won't pick who lives and dies, because that's not a decision he will make, be able to make, nor one he should be able to make.
Miles doesn't have a god complex; he just sees himself as a kid who was given the ability to help people (he gets a little cocky sometimes, cause he's a teenage boy, sue him, but deep down he is just so good).
there's just so many layers to why I think he is one of the best spidermen out there and I can't stop thinking about it, but I also can't get the words out of my brain right, please, someone indulge me, discourse (? that word always feels negative, but I'm blanking on the actual word I'm looking for) on this with me so I can finally get this shit out of my skull.

I've been thinking about Ben Reilly's portrayal in Across the Spiderverse again, and the more I think about it and try to make sense of it the more I find him to be a product of the knowledge of canon events "absolving" those they effect from responsibility. Now I'll admit there's not alot going on for this theory, it's built off a headcanon or two and I've only really thought about this for like half an hour but who cares anyway. So my headcanon is that not everybody knows about canon events, cause that shit would fuck up a lot of people, I think Miguel only told those that he could trust with it, and that's why only so many Spider-people show up at the intervention with Miles and the rest have to be told to go after him without knowing why. I'm pretty sure Miguel prefers to work with Ben when he's out in the field, choosing both him and Jessica Drew when he stressed out and trying to deal with something that could be a huge multiversal threat, and we know that Ben is aware of the existence of canon events. Which he doesn't seem to be handling very well. Ben has had a pretty tortured existence in the mainline comics, and as far as we know, this variant of him isn't very different. He's suffered abuse at the hands of the Jackal screwing with his mind and giving him one of the worst cases of imposter syndrome known to man, he's had to rebuild his life from the ground up and god knows what else.
So I think that with the knowledge of that all of this stuff and worse was going to happen to him, which might even include his own death at some point in the future, I think he regressed into that sadboy edgelord personal we see him take on throughout the movie. What's the point of it all if he's going to die in a canon event soon?
I really hope we get to see more of him in BTSV, and maybe see him without the "mask" on and acting alot more like the selfless dude we know and love.
