I started playing SSX 3 (2003) on the PCSX2 (PS2 emulator) and I found out that Kaori Nishidake (who lives in Mt Komorebi) is a playable character there. Turns out it was on purpose, Kaori in SSX and Sims 4 is the same person! Nice throwback, EA.

Since she looks completely different in TS4, I gave her a complete makeover to resemble her SSX 3 looks!

I’m currently playing Sims 4 on a Mac so I’m not using Reshade at the moment, hence the unedited screenshots, do expect more of these! May take a while to return back to Windows as I need to remove GShade and return to Reshade.

New start

Hi to everyone reading this.

I don't quite know what this blog is going to be about or what I'm trying to achieve with it.

I find myself in the midst of some sort of mental breakdown and life crisis, and I thought, why not start some kind of video game blog?

So here we are, attempting to start something that could help me express myself. I'm not exactly sure what that will entail, but perhaps we'll find out soon enough.

So about me: I'm 23-year-old girl from Finland. I'm student and I also work alongside my studies. In my free time, I enjoy playing different video games, watching livestreams, doing anything with my hands, and of course, sleeping.

I'm stydying Information and Communication Technology (nerdy, right?) in University of Applied Sciences. Right now, I am on the verge of despair regarding my sudies. I do want to do this stuff in the future, but my mindis telling me that I'm not capable. It's not like I'm not interested enough, but rather I feel I haven't learned enough.

That's it about the boring stuff! Let's move on to the good stuff: video games.

I've been playing video games my whole life, thanks to my parents for making it happen. I have so many memories from my childhood playing video games. We had this old pc at home, which we used to play different video games with my big sister. One of them was The Sims 2. Mostly, my sister played while I watched, being the younger one and all, she bossed me around, lol.

We also had few Moomin games (of course because we're from Finland and we were obsessed with Moomins). More specifically, we had five Moomin games: Muumit piilosilla (1995), Suuri Muumijuhla (1996) - The Geat Moomin party, Muumit ja taikurinhattu (1997) - The Quest for the Hobgobling's Ruby, Muumit ja näkymätön lapsi (1999) - The Invisible Child and Muumit ja salaperäiset huudot (2006) - The Mysterious Howling.

Those were the most played games on PC when I was kid. Of course, later, I had this obsession with Horse games (Starshine and Springdale Horse Mystery).

Our first console was the PlayStation2 which unfortunately broke down about a year ago (luckly, my boyfriend got one and I "borrowed" it and still have it). The most played games were SSX Tricky, a snowboarding game, and The Incredibles story game. I still love playing those games.

I've also had other consoles when I was young: Nintendo DS and Xbox 360, and I also even had my own computer! The best games on my Nintendo DS were Mario Games! Mario Kart DS was the most played one, and good runner-up was New Super Mario Bros. I also had other games: Littlest Pet Shop Country Friends, Lego Star Wars III, Crash: Mind over mutant, and The Sims 3 (which I didn't like because the controls were bad after playing on PC).

Okay, that's a lot about my game habits in the past! I think there shoud be a separate post where I talk about my current gaming experiences...

This felt very therapeutic to write about these things because I don't have many who share these kind of interests with me. Except my boyfriend, but we've played such different games in the past that it's not quite the same thing!

Also, thanks to ChatGPT for correcting my mistakes, because English isn't my first language! I also have dyslexia...

Now that I've been playing for a few weeks (and the first generation are nearly elders -- hey, I had to make sure it would stick!) I figured I would start posting about my new neighborhood, Windflower Bay!

I'm not following BACC rules or doing any particular challenge -- just slowly building up the neighborhood in a way that feels natural and fun to me and playing in rounds (something I usually struggle with).

I'm trying to lean more into wants-based without just letting my sims stay home from work and play SSX 3 all day. There are so many features of this game I've never experienced, so I'm just trying to have fun with it and cast a wide net!

If I don't get too intimidated by my gigantic backlog of screenshots, I'll be sharing gameplay pictures!

Happy weekend everyone! 💖 The next batch of Freetime Posters is ready to go -- this week's hobby is games! Swatch, details and download beneath thy cut! ♕

These are on @linacheries’ excellent 4t2 conversion of Simsza’s National Park Prints (mesh is included), and they feature another 12 designs made with Flaticon elements + lots of Simlish fonts. They’re all inspired by locations, items and features from the game.

hi! i can't seem to get the ssx to valorant default replacement to work :) in game, the option shows "Play Valorant" instead of "Play SSX" but the video and sounds are still SSX. i transferred the necessary files in C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Starter Pack\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\Movies\Games\INI and \SSX. i installed my game using osab's starter pack if that helps

Hi! I wish I could help, but I have an Origin installation myself and I have no idea how other installation methods could differ, and no way to test them myself either :/

The problem is def those installation directory files, as the one that goes to Downloads changes the game's name. Are you sure that the correct ssx.ini overwrote the previous ini file? You can double check by opening the file and looking for this kind of line:

[vgs_ssx_attract] IsGames=1 Folder=Games/ssx File=Epi_ValorantDefault_Attract.avi

If the last bit is there, then I don't really know what's going on. You could test if doing the installation for EP directories would change anything.

Does anyone else use this default with the starter pack installation?

Captain Harlock characters in The Sims 3! I'm gonna need to find good alien eyes for Miime and either a better hairstyle for Tochiro or a better texture for the hair, but I'm happy with the results so far. ^_^

bioshock, dead island series, left for dead series, borderlands series, infamous series, any call duty game, fortnite, elden ring (got a platinum trophy for it), overwatch, pubg, apex legends (only on mobile rip), and genshin impact. oh and sims lmao

honorable mention to a dead game series would be ssx, i loved that silly snowboarding game

(honestly one of my biggest achievements in gaming cause i suck at games like this)

It seems like sequels and games in similar genres are usually, if not most of the time improving on the games that came before. In longer terms at least it seems reliable. Is there a limit, do you think? Will we ever reach a point where a sequel can't reliably be "better" than the last entry?

We can look at history for the answer to your question. Some franchises have been running for decades and remain extremely strong today - Call of Duty, FIFA, Madden, the Sims, and Grand Theft Auto all span decades, lots of installments, and multiple millions of players. Some franchises have been relegated to specific niches - no longer the headliners they once were but still remain reliable, like Mega Man, Street Fighter, Battlefield, Civilization, and Just Dance. And finally, we must consider the franchises that have essentially been relegated to the dust bin of history. They've had their day in the sun, but a new game announcement in the series won't really generate a significant amount of interest - Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Turok, Castlevania, SSX, Medal of Honor, Prince of Persia, Wing Commander, Ultima, Unreal Tournament, Command and Conquer, and Twisted Metal.

If you consider the context, it should be clear that franchise games that are able to find an audience consistently, even if that audience isn't massive in size, can carve out a sustainable niche for themselves. The dead franchises are those that were unable to find sustainability with their audiences and generally fielded more than one failed game. In each of those cases, the publishers looked at the total costs they thought would be necessary to create a game within that respective franchise and compared that to the expected return on that game and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

That said, hope springs eternal. A lot of publishers will leave a franchise fallow for a long time. The longer a franchise is dormant, the lower the bar for a revival success. As we've seen with the revival of formerly-dormant IPs like Crash Bandicoot and Killer Instinct, fans can always hope that maybe someday Golden Sun will rise again.
