On the whole I was very satisfied with Picard S3. It wasn’t perfect by any means but I wasn’t mad about it. I do wish they had given Seven some actual “let’s go” words instead of open mouth, cut to exterior. Letting her use Picard’s “Let’s see what’s out there” would have been a nice nod.

It surely has been said before, but really tragic thought about Data in Star Trek: Picard:

You know, a part of me was happy that he was dead by that time, because at least he had not had to witness how people literally created from his blueprints were made into slaves just like Guinan had prophesized. Yes, Federation promised they are not sentient, but they promized the same thing about their holograms too, and really, how good can you judge if someone is sentient when that someone is sentient in a very different way from how you are sentient?

He says again and again that he can’t feel, but he also showed so often how compassionate and kind he is, and that it hurts him when people he is close to or people similiar to him get hurt. It would have hurt him so much. Likely also make him think the way he is is not right and real and he needs to be more human even more than he already thought before.

I am pretty sure he would have fought, and that Geordi and Picard and all the others actually did fight, but how much can a single person do?

I am also kind of glad for his sake that Lore was dead at that point too, because he would have hurt even more about this, and probably tried to “help” these androids by doing a bunch of terrorist attacks that actually only make the general public more against them.

Rewatching “Measure of a Man” feels so much darker now

kiscon happened late oct-nov!! it was great!!!! it was a 3 day online event, very cool w cool gift bags, people, auctions, panels, and such

there’s some star trek zines that released! i rec checking out the termsofservicezine, the aosrenaissance zine, the tng little treasures zine, oh and the stat trek swimsuit special!

(please check out also the spirk fiveguys meme. its just a fandom joke that came to life last year)

theres 3 ongoing star trek rn: Strange New Worlds (SNW), Picard (PCD), and Lower Decks (LWD). SNW is a prequel series, focusing on pike as captain, loosely related to DISCO. The show’s style, esp the settings are beautiful bec it combines TOS-era designs with modern flair, and some eps are genuinely good!. Lower Decks is loosely set in the TNG/DS9/VOY era, made by fans for fans, so there’s a lot of callbacks and jokes bec its mostly a sitcom. It’s mostly chill and cute, and there’s a great crossover episode with SNW.

PCD is Patrick Stewart’s whole thing (i havent watched it, but afaik a lot of TNG characters and also 7 of 9 is there)

Soji, my poor, pitiful Soji, who is almost certainly doomed to never see screentime again because season 2 wrote her out for next to no reason and season 3 decided the dust from the shriveled corpse of tng was more important than the show's actual characters

Trekkies, I gotta know something. I’m writing a Star Trek fic and I offhandedly mentioned something about Sybok’s exile without really explaining it, kind of assuming it was common knowledge. But I realized that it might not be? So how many of y’all were/are aware, even vaguely, of Sybok’s banishment? You don’t need to know a lot about it, just that it happened I guess.
