Warning: A long Rant
Okay, so I've spent the whole span of AoS season 2 seeing people criticize Jang Uk for not recognising Naksu.
And I can't take it anymore.
Yes it is a bit of a lazy writing on the writers part. But this is not wrong in any way. See the biggest mistake they did was show us Jang Uk 3 yrs later, but there's just one flashback scene. Only one. We don't see him building into a dark character. That was definitely lazy writing.
But have you gone through a dark patch in your life? It takes so much away from you. It makes your mind foggy. It hampers with your thinking. You behave weirdly. So much so that people around you tell you're not you anymore. Which just adds on to the misery.
Which is exactly what happened to Jang Uk. He died guys. Protecting the woman he loved. But he came back alive. And he couldn't save her. And then he finds out that in some f**ked up way he's responsible for her death.
The 1st season was very clearly showed how smart Jang Uk was. Witty, edgy, sharp, spontaneous. A genius. He had to be. He had been judged and humiliated all his life, left with no speck of power. His wit was all he had.
He had read, understood and memorized books far over his level.
He had recognised Naksu by looking at the blue marks in her eyes and the way she held the crab leg to his neck.
Remember he copied Heo Yeom's breathing technique even when he knew nothing about energy usage.
He had figured out they were trapped in the ice stone and was already finding solutions even before Mudeok mentioned it. He was also the one who came up with the solution.
When Naksu stabbed him, before the pain the surprise registers. You can actually see the wheels turning in his head. Which is why he pulls her in. He knows she didn't do it. Even to the very end he was the smartest. Jin Mu managed to fool the entire kingdom, but not him.
So what changed?
Do you remember that flashback scene. It was sometime after he'd come back to life. And in that short span of time he'd completely figured out that she was not responsible for those crimes and who were. Till that moment Jang Uk was still sharp. But Park Jin telling him he's responsible for her death is the point of no return. You see in his eyes the moment he breaks apart (Lee Jae Wook deserves all the awards for this). For the first time in his life there is something, that with all his intelligence, he can't wrap his head around. That not only could he not save the love of his life, but he was responsible for her death.
After that Jang Uk changes. He doesn't see and notice things like before, because he's not like before. He's not bright and witty anymore. He considers himself dead, which is why he says he's not going to do anything. He wants to die. Do you think he's seeing things straight when he's suicidal?
We do see some semblance of the old Jang Uk when he's with his close ones. When he meets Yul and Dangu. When he's with Park Jin or Kim Doju. When Yul is sad he understands. He is genuinely happy Jin Bu-Yeon lights up the lamp.
When Park Jin asks Jang Uk who he would save between him and Kim Doju, he says Kim Doju. Which was a funny scene. But this not what season 1 Jang Uk would have said. Remember Jang Uk sacrificed his own powers to save everybody trapped in the ice stone. And when Park Jin says that he should save both, you see realisation hit his eyes. He was not given a scenario where he could only save one. He can save both, but this didn't occur to him. Season 1 Jang Uk would have answered that he would try to save both.
He saves Jin Bu-Yeon only because she can kill him. But you see he does recognise her. He looks deep into her eyes. Searching... But he doesn't find what he's looking for. Her actions confuse him. But at that point he's to scared to be hopeful. Because it's too good to be true. Which is why he outright says to Jin Bu-Yeon that she could be a replacement for Naksu since she reminded him so much of her. But she retaliates. Everytime. She repeatedly tells him she's not that woman. That she is herself. That he should see her for who she is. Which is how he is finally able to mourn and heal. He's finally able to be happy again.
Also him finding out who she was would have made him happy and relieved that she was alive. But it wouldn't have brought him out his guilt or his darkness. He would still be haunted by events of his past. He wouldn't have been able to mourn or heal.
And you see Jang Uk come back. He's accepted the fact that sometimes his wife might remember things from his past because she has the blue jade egg. He knows that she reminds him of his lover, but that's okay, he can love again. He's made peace with his past. And just when he is happy, she leaves, again. But this time he's not confused. He tells her that he doesn't care about her past. Or that he fell for her over some confusion. He also knows that she does like him, but also is only lying to him. But he doesn't pry. He only says that he'll wait for her.
Yes, I see the problem with him finding out about her so late. Or prolonging the amnesia plot. Because there's only 2 episodes left. And there's your problem. Only 10 episodes. If season 2 was also 20 episodes that wouldn't be a problem. Moving at this pace is not actually wrong. But leaving only 2 episodes to solve the rest of the problems is.
If you've read this far, you do see my point. Don't you?
P.S. I knew they weren't going to let them find out before they fell in love again. I knew that they were going to find out just when they were happy again. Because for some reason Hong Sisters don't like happy couples.

I must know what they do to Connor to make him depressed afterwards :(
You will pay for making me cry so much everytime I reread your comics
The answer is probably what DIDN’T they do 😅 Connor’s the first known merman in captivity and Kamski and Co. aren’t held back by scientific or medical ethics. You can fill in the blanks :’)
I will say that Kamski’s favourite experiments are those involving Connor’s rapid healing abilities. He’s had more than a few incisions/excisions, some of which have been less…anesthetized. Just to measure stress response and its relation to healing rate, of course.
He hides his spiraling as best he can, but he’s been cracked open and violated so many times, in so many ways, that on his bad days he often feels like nothing more than an empty shell. That he has nothing left to offer; to himself, to his family, to Hank.
He hates Kamski, but he did this to himself, after all. If only he had been faster, stronger…more resilient.

” #they all look submissive but some of them look submissiver than the others 😌 ”
Wanna elaborate who do you think looks the most submissive? 👀
I mean
look at this absolute dirty napkin of a man <3 he's just waiting for you to boss him around
although ngl I was as surprised as the rest of you to notice how good Tommi looks on his knees 😳
he looks like a man full of regret about his life decisions and is ready for the inevitable punishment 😔
Joonas, on the other hand, looks like if they made a limited edition Dance Moves Barbie™ but instead of dancing, all the kids make him do this:
Niko just looks like a rejected character from a Magic Mike sequel
...and then we have these fuckers who are probably just experiencing a normal Tuesday

don’t mind me, being cringe on main (there are some dlc spoilers here)
...this is. an outer wilds taco truck au
why? Brain is Bad
It’s Outer Wilds Tacos and Outer Wilds Mechanics- despite the names on paper they’re unrelated businesses. Slate owns/is the primary mechanic for the Mechanics. They’re usually pretty busy, but they do all the work on the taco trucks. Esker is their secondary mechanic (when that gets too busy) or the cashier/phones/general ‘I’m here what do you want’ person. They used to help out with the taco trucks, but since the trucks have gotten more people they’re not called on to help as much anymore they’re not lonely sh
Feldspar and Gossan co-founded Outer Wilds Tacos and generally run a truck together. They’ve gotten a lot more popular than they planned, so they’ve expanded a little- they have a few trucks now a days. Gabbro was the first helper- they’re a professor at Local University (...college town) (Physics and philosophy, both) and they’re part time with the trucks for weed money. You cannot call Gabbro to come in on a day off. They are either at their day job or probably stoned.
Chert was next- they work at the local observatory outside of town, and they’re part time for extra cash. Riebeck is a full time archeology student at Local University and full time with the trucks to help pay for that. Hatchling is newest hire, they’re full time while they figure their life out.
Hornfels is a part time astronomy professor, but also is kinda the manager for both Outer Wilds businesses- they do all the payrolls, orders, shifts, booking appointments for everything, all that. Slate Esker and Gossan can (and will) handle that but Hornfels is good with numbers and they’re happy to let them do most of the heavy lifting.
Hal is at Local University and working at a library both; they start frequenting the taco trucks when Hatchling starts working.
Porphy runs ‘Sap,’ a brewery with a huge wine list, and a frequent Outer Wilds Tacos spot; the truck’s there four days out of the week generally, and Gossan’s always there. Both of them think no one has noticed them flirting. Everyone has noticed they’re flirting. No one wants to say anything. Someone put together a ‘this taco goes best with this wine’ menu specifically for Sap days.
(After talking about it with Friend Feef on and off all day)
The Nomai run franchised food trucks- I do think their name would just be ‘Greek Food’ but that’s what they sell. It’s really good, though, and they tend to have a bunch of vegetarian options. And really good baklava. One of their more popular items is ‘Eye of the gyro-verse’ which, among the normal ingredients, has whole olives on it. If there’s an even with a bunch of food trucks someone from Outer Wilds will be sent over to the Nomai truck with tacos to trade for a gyro and baklava.
The Owlks (mostly) run hot dog carts with tons of available toppings- Stranger Sausages- that people think is a front for something. They never go under, despite never making a lot of visible sales. They also seem to take ‘vegetarian options’ as a threat, but they do generally have something. Despite the name and overall demeanor, the sausages are high quality.
The Prisoner runs their own buisness- like, a drive in movie theater type thing. It started perking up once Outer Wilds Tacos started working there once a week- they’re doing better than the hot dog carts now.
Finally, Outer Wilds Tacos has a signature dessert taco- waffle cone shaped like a taco shell, chocolate, toasted marshmallows. Optionally ice cream (...Feef is gonna make that, and tell me how it tastes). Getting those is Porphy’s excuse for wandering over every half hour when it’s slow.

As I have somehow become entangled in the Ensemble Stars fandom (I hate it here. Don't follow me to these waters, you guys) and am slowly reading the stories after the main one of music (and after watching the anime), I have come to the conclusion that Nito Nazuna is (probably unintentionally) Velveteen Rabbit coded.
If you don't know the story (spoilers for it ahead, you can read the short story here), it's basically about how a stuffed rabbit given to a boy as a Christmas present gets neglected in favour of newer mechanical toys. During his neglect, an older toy tells him a story about how the love of children to their toys can make them real, which the rabbit desperately wants but has little hope for. But by chance, a nanny gives the boy the rabbit to sleep with, cementing it as the boy's favourite toy. Sure, it gets more worn and other rabbits point out how it can't hop, but at least its loved...until the boy contracts scarlet fever and, for disinfecting reasons, the rabbit has to be taken out to be burned. Yeah, messed up...but as it waits for its fate, the stuffed rabbit sheds a tear where a flower with a fairy grows. The fairy proceeds to tell him that the boy's love made him real and takes him to the forest where he's able to finally hop away with the other rabbits.
I know it's a stretch. But a former toy/doll, incredibly loved but not really seen as real and that destroying him even if he's fine with it...then neglected when his "owner" contracts a sickness...then finding a spark of life that frees him from his inability to move...a transformation from loved doll to a real something that learns to love himself. Tell me that isn't Nazuna, and the rabbit imagery even fits. He breaks free from his constraints not to be alone but to be with others of his kind, to move of his own will with others! It's just so...we are all human and our relationships are so complex and someone else's tragedy that also makes you hurt for them can also be the reason you find your own self -
Honestly, I'm not sure if this is actually Velveteen Rabbit coded since I've only seen that story in the anime, but like...if you squint, it fits?
