it has been days and i haven't seen ANYONE mention this so fine, FINE, i will be the one to do it
"We'll see how tough this Mario is when he watches me KILL HIS BROTHER!"
THIS LINE ALL BY ITSELF FELT VERY SCARY AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WAS NEVER A MOMENT WHERE BOWSER COULD ACTUALLY TRY TO MAKE GOOD ON THIS THREAT, THAT'D BE TOO INTENSE FOR THE TONE THEY WERE GOING FOR, BUT...
WHAT IF...
(look, all i'm saying is the angst gremlin inside of me came ALIVE for a hot second and started imagining scenes playing out in different ways where Bowser DOES have this opportunity with both brothers together before the final battle and it is extremely heartwrenching stuff, OKAY)
I was originally gonna end this post here but welp, now I brainstormed a whole alternative scene under the cut
Imagine this: we're on the Rainbow Road. The blue shell hits! DK does still fall into the ocean (maybe yelling "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAUUUUULT" at Mario as he goes down) but Mario is thrown back by the explosion onto the side of Rainbow Road with Cranky Kong and the other Kongs (he is definitely injured, though) and lands there as they freak out about DK. Peach and Toad are still safely on the other side.
Mario is thus captured with all the other Kongs and taken to Bowser's airship (Peach and Mario call out to each other worriedly but there's nothing she can do and the flying Koopas are coming after her too so Mario yells for her to run and her and Toad have to flee, waaah)
(This would also let Bowser and Mario actually get to meet before the end, which I think would have been nice! Not absolutely necessary, I think the movie works fine without it, but it would have really driven home the threat/stakes a little harder and created a stronger Darkest Moment, I think)
Bowser, seeing that Mario is captured, is just FILLED with hateful glee and wants to break this little man down so badly after he DARED to get close to HIS princess, and he asks Kamek to bring out Luigi from the prison
Mario, now in the airship and restrained, gets to actually SEE Bowser and register how big/menacing he is and they have some banter where Bowser is FURIOUS and Mario is honestly just kind of confused, like, "dude, what is your problem with me??? I just came to this world two days ago???" (He's scared, of course, he's never seen anyone quite like Bowser before, but he also knows his type right away - he's a bully, and Mario's dealt with his fair share of bullies, that's for sure)
But then of course the conversation comes around to "WHERE IS MY BROTHER, LET MY BROTHER GO" and then Luigi is brought in, hands bound, and the brothers can't help but have big, teary smiles and call out happily for each other
But that happiness ends QUICKLY because Bowser advances on Luigi and Mario realizes all at once what's going to happen and he tries to run at him but Kamek drags him back with the magic
And like...I am not one for anything TOO excessive here, I wouldn't want it to be TOO far outside what a movie like this would include, but Bowser does start to hurt Luigi - picking him up and throwing him down, kicking him, scratching him up, and Mario is just in AGONY and desperately struggling to pull free from the magic and begging Bowser to stop, please, if he's mad at someone, hurt HIM, beat HIM up, whatever he wants, but please, don't take it out on his brother, PLEASE, he'll do ANYTHING
But of course, that just makes Bowser taunt Mario more, because he CAN'T do anything. He wants to see Mario broken down and a pathetic mess and begging HIM, the great Koopa King, for mercy because the princess would never be attracted to someone like THAT, how could she, how shameful! Bowser will be sure to tell her ALL about it when he proposes, he is delighted
(oh man, Bowser could even say something like that "whatever happens to him is YOUR fault, you brought your dear brother down with you when you dared to meddle in my fairytale wedding!!!" And it's a ~*~THEMATIC CALLBACK~*~ to Mario's dad, waaaah)
And finally, it looks like Bowser is going to strike a BIG blow but Kamek gets distracted or Mario just becomes desperate enough to pull free of the magic's influence with the power of BROTHERLY LOVE and he gets a punch in on Bowser that knocks him back!!!
And then Mario is helping Luigi up, holding his bruised face sweetly and reassuring him that it's gonna be okay, they're gonna get out of here and go home, and they try to run but they get dragged apart by guards/Kamek/etc again
Bowser is EXTREMELY MAD but manages to calm down and says that he actually appreciates Mario interrupting him with his pathetic little punch because he almost acted too rashly. After all, if he kills Luigi now, he'll be one prisoner short for his ritualistic sacrifice for him and Peach's wedding! Can't have that! Too bad Mario's gonna miss it! And then he grabs Mario and carries him out while Luigi is being carried/dragged back to prison and they're both horrified and crying out each other's names desperately as they're separated AGAIN
Mario gets thrown off the airship by Bowser into the ocean and left for dead (Mario probably gets one more defiant line where he swears he's gonna stop Bowser and Bowser tells Mario that'll never happen but not to worry, him and Peach are going to be very happy together and Mario and his brother will be reunited soon enough - in DEATH [evil laughter])
And then Mario gets swallowed by the eel and DK is already there and things start to play out the same way as the movie from there EXCEPT that when him and DK snipe at each other, Mario starts to break down a little and the line "Well, at least your brother's not gonna die because of you!" has a LOT more emotional weight to it and it's just a longer, more heartwrenching Darkest Moment scene in general, sob)
(and you could also have a scene with Luigi back in prison where he is obviously extremely shaken up and hurt and not knowing what happened to Mario, what did Bowser do with him, is his brother even still ALIVE, why was he so WEAK and unable to do anything, unable to even protect himself or help Mario, etc etc and that helps him have a character beat that maybeeeee makes his surprise rescue of Mario at the end feel more earned????? HMM)
I'M SORRY, I LOVE ANGST (that eventually ends happily) AND IT COMPELS ME
i'm gonna have to write this as an actual, full-fledged fic, aren't I, lolol

Here's my Pitch for a Luigi's Mansion movie
Opening scene is King Boo getting word of the Mario Brothers, and sending Boos to spy on them.
By now, the brothers are firmly established in the Mushroom Kingdom as the Mario Brothers, and when we first see them now, they’re putting up fliers offering their services.
But immediately, we can see that when someone stops to talk to them, everyone seems to be gravitating towards Mario. Which is fine, and even expected, as people know him as the guy that saved the Kingdom.
But it’s not long before Luigi’s insecurities rear up their ugly heads, to the point where he feels like he can’t even tell Mario about them.
What insecurities exactly? The one’s you’d expect: only being known as Mario’s brother, or the guy that got trapped in a cage that needed Mario to rescue him. Which get worse when someone makes an offhand comment that gets under his skin. It’s essentially a parallel to what their dad said to Mario: about holding Mario back now that he’s a hero.
But here’s the secret: those comments don’t really bother him. It’s already been established that Luigi has been Mario’s #1 fan since before they even knew the Mushroom Kingdom existed. If people gush over Mario more, they’re just repeating what he’s known since they were babies. Why would that kind of talk start to bother him now?
No. For Luigi’s insecurities to be as bad as we’re being shown, it has to go deeper than that.
The real fear is that one day MARIO will see that, and just decide he’s done looking out for him. You thought he was heartbroken when trapped in the cage? NOTHING compared to what happens upon thinking of that.
However long that takes, everything comes to a head when Luigi gets the notice about winning the mansion in the mail, and he decides to go check it out.
Whether it’s because he suspects something is up or he’s too distracted by his insecurities, does not matter. What does is that he decides to go alone to prove he’s not just Mario’s little brother.
And I will emphasize this right here and now: Luigi does not blame Mario for ANY of this. He loves Mario the same as he always has, if not more, and it’s that exact love why he’s so scared of losing him.
He shrugs off Mario’s questions as to why he’s going alone, and leaves. Which then prompts Mario to check out the notice himself, and after some research, realizes Luigi’s about to walk into a trap, and runs off to try and stop him.
While all this is happening, we need two different sets of flashbacks, wherever they make sense: flashbacks of them growing up, to show how their relationship changes into what it is now. And snippets of a more recent one, with Mario telling him he’s moving to the Mushroom Kingdom, offering him a chance to come with; Luigi panicking because a) he’s still traumatized by what happened, and b) he’s scared of losing his brother again if he says no.
Eventually Luigi makes it to the mansion, and it plays out like it did in the game. I trust Nintendo’s ability to make sure it stays as true to the game as it can be. It’s still about getting rid of the painting ghosts and all that, but keeps coming back to the insecurities.
And if there's a way to add their Twin Sense to the story, preferably when Luigi finds something of Mario's, that would be AWESOME.
Mario, on his side, is not just trapped in a painting. The painting itself is essentially a pocket dimension where he can see everything that’s going on, as one of King Boo’s cruel torture tactics, but no matter how loud he screams or yells, Luigi can’t see or hear him unless in the throne room, because that’s where the physical painting actually is.
It's revealed the Boos had been observing Luigi for weeks to figure out the best way to mess with him, and while they usually just do what we’ve seen them do in the games, they tried something different because Luigi essentially did all the work for them, and enhanced his insecurities to lure him to the mansion to trap him there.
And of course, when he faces King Boo, he gets hit where it really hurts: the fallout of all those flashbacks: every time Luigi got hurt or was picked on, and Mario stepped in. Or only Moving to the Mushroom Kingdom to make Mario happy. King Boo laughing at him and saying how he’s so weak he can’t even fight his own battles, no wonder Mario got taken so easily.
Luigi starts to believe it, maybe even starts crying, I won’t object, but then he hears Mario banging on the painting, making him look up.
Whatever Mario says here is meant to get Luigi to look back again, and we see a flashback montage. Sure, Mario stepped in at first, but when Luigi got older, he started doing the same. And even had Mario teach him to defend himself, despite the fact that it scared the shit out of Mario every time he fell or got hurt. The very last flashback is of when Mario finally made him talk about moving to the Mushroom Kingdom, and Luigi admitted how scared he was about the whole idea. And you guessed it, Mario gives a bona fide Good Big Brother speech that ends with another Bro Hug.
And THAT is what gives Luigi the strength to get back up and kick King Boo’s ass straight back into the painting where he belongs.
Keep the game’s ending in there, or the fans will riot, then give us a Proud Big Brother moment after they’re home safe.
Then it ends with them hanging up more fliers all over the Mushroom Kingdom, but now we see there’s a new thing added to their services: Boo Hunting.
Oh yeah. And to keep with the first movie's continuity: soundtrack only has music from or before the year the game came out.
This would be November 2001, so use your imagination.

Do you think the Mario movie sequel should show conflict in the bros' relationship? I know you've said before that you do not like the idea of them having a cliche argument that ends up in them splitting up in anger but their relationship isn't without problems.
See, Mario is someone who will jump headfirst into any situation with reckless abandon and that causes problems if he's picking fights with people who are much stronger than he is, and he was lucky enough to have access to power ups to increase his strength.
But what if he jumps headfirst into a situation he cannot easily get out of? Luigi seems to be more of the voice of reason and he probably doesn't speak up as much as he should so I could see a situation where he's getting increasingly frustrated with Mario's recklessness and that could definitely cause problems.
I definitely think conflict could be in the cards, but I'd be interested in seeing it play out in a way that doesn't involve a fight or a third act breakup.
Actually, this bit of concept art by Joe Pitt comes to mind:
Tumblr media
The thing is Luigi does speak up! It's just that Mario doesn't really listen all that much– not because he doesn't value his brother's opinion, but because he gets too wrapped up in his own impulses to listen to anyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way I see it playing out is that, while the first movie was about Mario learning what he was capable of and coming into his own, the second movie could be him figuring out how to temper his reckless, because he definitely didn't learn that in the first movie.
Tumblr media
And I imagine, with victories under his belt and Luigi at his side, Mario feels more inclined to feed his impulses than ever before.
In the meantime, Luigi is trying desperately to keep up with his brother without getting overwhelmed. While he was able to put up with Mario's shenanigans with saintly patience when they were plumbers, the constant threat of death is too much.
It comes to a head in one of two ways: 1. Mario finally bites off more than he can chew and barely gets out alive. Luigi drags him to safety, and once they're in a place where they can talk Luigi lets loose his pent-up frustration, ranting to Mario about how he never listens and nearly got himself killed. This time, however, Mario does listen. He apologizes to his brother, and continuing forward he does what he can to give Luigi agency over what they do and what battles they undertake.
2. Mario finally bites off more than he can chew, but Luigi pays the price for it, and that is enough of a lesson in and of itself for Mario to snap out of it and realize what he's been doing.

Little fic drabble I thought of (will have a part 2) some eventual Bowuigi
******************
Luigi in the Fungeon
(Taking place during the movie that I haven't seen yet so prepare for speculation)
From his cage dangling above the lava pit, its hot glow emanating with the heat to throw everything into red light, Luigi could see several of the neighboring cages swinging wildly, spinning, and some dropping down too close to the lava for comfort, only to be lifted back up while the prisoner inside screamed
It happened with the penguin king and his subjects, and the little talking star, and then Luigi's stomach dropped as he felt his own cage lowering.
It swung around and lowered much more slowly than he'd seen the others' do. It didn't stop him from giving an involuntary shriek as the chains clanked, causing him to sway.
As his cage finally halted, he heard a high, childlike giggle from just behind him. It almost sounded like the little star, but perhaps a bit younger.
His cage spun around and around before abruptly halting before a miniature sized version of that hulking dragon-turtle man that had interrogated him about Mario.
"Hi new prisoner, I'm Junior!"
Luigi blinked at him, at a complete loss for words but unable to forget his manners so he was able to give a small wave.
The mini-dragon-turtle - Junior-  tilted his head in curiosity. He gave Luigi a long, appraising look followed by a series of sniffs through the bars all over his body.
"You smell funny," he concluded, his little mouth curving upwards to reveal rows of small but sharp teeth. "But good too. You must worry a lot."
Luigi quirked an eyebrow. "How can you tell?" He asked. Now that he surmised he wasn't in any immediate danger, he was finding the young creature as interesting as he was finding Luigi.
"I can smell it," Junior said. "You kinda smell like my Mama. She used to worry a lot, too."
"Really?" Luigi found it hard to believe that the mother of this kid - if she looked anything like him - would worry about anything.
Junior nodded. "Yeah, about me, about Papa, about the other Koopas. She tried not to let me see but I could smell it."
Luigi removed his cap to wipe away the sweat from his forehead, fanning himself with it while he had it in his hand.
Junior didn't seem to be effected by the heat at all, but he did notice the kid's smile had slowly disappeared upon the mention of his mother. It hadn't escaped Luigi that he'd been using past tense to talk about her.
"May I ask, is your Mama around now?"
He blinked at Luigi, his gaze lowering and he shook his head.
"The bad king got her."
Bad king? Luigi hadn't seen much of this world before he was captured, but the idea of a king worse than Junior's papa gave him even more reason to sweat.
When he didn't respond, Junior continued.
"But it's okay. Papa's gonna destroy the bad Mushroom Kingdom so nobody will be hurt by them again."
Replacing his hat to his head, Luigi grasped the bars of his still-dangling cage.
"I'm sorry about that--- your mama."
Junior had been avoiding his gaze, but he looked at him then.
"Everybody says that, I mean, all the Koopas anyway. But they knew her, you didn't. Why are you sorry?"
"I don't have to have known her to be sorry for you," he answered. "I can imagine it being tough for you."
Junior sniffed, wiping his face and trying to make it look like Luigi's words hadn't made him tear up.
A pang of guilt hit him in the stomach. He hadn't meant to make the boy cry. He decided to change the subject.
"And your Papa, he's the one who put me in here?"
Junior nodded again. "Uh huh. But if he comes don't tell him I was here, okay? Papa doesn't like me coming to the dungeon by myself."
"I wanted to play 'torture' though and I don't have anyone to play with."
"So that's why you were shaking the cages around," Luigi concluded.
"It's fun!" Junior exclaimed.
"Not for the one in the cage," he mumbled.
Junior scoffed. "Come on, they love it, right?" He gestured to the other prisoners who all jumped to attention and gave various hurried, fearful exclamations of agreement.
"See?"
Junior appeared to notice Luigi's skepticism, for he pulled out a remote control with several large red buttons, mashing one and lowering Luigi's cage to the floor of whatever Junior was standing on.
Another button pressed and the door to his cage sprang open, Junior waving him out enthusiastically.
"Here," he shoved the remote into Luigi's hands and nearly leaped into the cage, slamming the door shut and pointing back to Luigi.
"You use the remote and fly me around some. I'll show you how fun it is!"
Luigi blinked again, flabbergasted that it was this easy to be let out like this. He could escape now, easy. All he had to do was use this remote to lift Junior high enough that he couldn't follow him and boom, he was free.
His eyes flicked from the remote in his hands to the entryway Junior must have come from. It *would* be easy...
"Let's go already!" He heard Junior whine impatiently from the cage. Luigi turned back to see the boy bouncing and swinging the cage himself, anxiously waiting Luigi to start the game.
It would be easy, but then what? Where would he go, where could he go? And how would he get there?
It wouldn't be fair of him - even if he did manage to get out of this Darkland place - to leave all of these others behind.
And this Junior kid--- whatever his papa had done to him, Luigi truly felt a kind of sympathy for him. He was just a kid, a kid who'd lost his mom. It wouldn't be right to trick him or betray his trust however misguided.
So, feeling like he might regret not taking the chance later, Luigi pressed several buttons in succession and flung Junior about the dungeon, spinning and dropping him in the same way he had been doing.
He probably should not have been surprised when all of the screaming the boy did was of delight, interspersed with wild, high pitched squeals of laughter.
After a few minutes of watching Junior fly and dive and scream with joy, Luigi almost forgot where he was.
Almost.
He was reminded quite abruptly when a large yellow Koopa guard took hold of him and wrenched the remote from his hands.
"What are you doing?" The Koopa barked at him, Luigi instinctively cowering in his grip. "What do you think you were doing to the prince?"
Junior's sounds of enjoyment slowly died as he became aware of what was happening.
One of the flying Koopas zoomed up to stop the cage from spinning, aiding its descent back onto solid ground.
"It's okay, Junior," the flying guard tried to comfort the boy who only whined and rolled his eyes. "We'll get you out of there and this human will be swiftly dealt with."
"But we were just playing," Junior whined. "He was gonna go back in the cage when we were done, honest."
Luigi made to speak up and agree with him, but the guard holding him smacked him across the back of his head, knocking off his hat.
"Quiet you!" The guard said. "Junior, you're lucky we got here when we did. Who knows what this human was planning?"
The flying guard came up beside his fellow, taking hold of one of Luigi's arms. "Yeah. We'll have to take him to your papa now and see what's to be done with him."
As the two koopas began to drag him away, Luigi saw Junior pick up his hat, scrunching it in his claws as tears filled his eyes.
Luigi wasn't sure if Junior was fearing for him or for himself, but he did know that he was about to come face to face with this koopa king once again.

You know I don’t think we make big enough of a deal about in the pilot episode when Patricia is talking about how Joy’s disappeared and hasn’t called her, and Jerome says to her, “Patricia, you’ve disappeared more than enough times.”
What does that mean????? Has she run away from school a bunch before??? Not shown up to dinners?? Dodged her friends’ calls?? Jerome just says this pretty casually without any additional explanation and it’s never addressed again. Bro literally what does he mean that Patricia’s disappeared a bunch of times?? That feels like something significant that there’s a story behind. What does this mean. What happened. I need answers!!!

So I don't know if it was ever revealed how Duncan felt when we killed Malistaire all three times but I'm wondering if maybe some part of him could hate us for that too. Like you hear that and you go "but why. Malistaire was terrible and even Duncan knew that(?). Why would he hate you for getting rid of him."
But like I think it's so....... interesting in a very, very, very sad way how Duncan so easily latches onto anyone who directly feeds into his delusions of grandeur. And that's no fault of his own that he was manipulated by the nasty Schism but when you think about how desperately clung to the idea that Malistaire, easily one of the greatest necromancers any of us had ever heard of (at that time), somehow actually recognized Duncan's talents (even when canon supports that Duncan wasn't all that talented, at least no more than the next necromancer) and then praised him for it so often that Duncan believed that he would be the next Death Professor is. I mean ☹️
So like with that mindset I unfortunately feel like it would be quite easy to twist even Malistaire's death as something that's horrible and awful and all our fault. ESPECIALLY if the Schism was feeding into Duncan's already broken mind and shattered ego and was constantly telling him that everything bad that ever happened to him ever in his life was Our Fault. That's like a realistic conclusion that someone like Duncan could come to
And like, at this point in time, are Malistaire's crimes even a factor in how he thinks????? Was Duncan ever able to separate Malistaire's talent and skills and prowess from the terrible and awful things he did? If Duncan wasn't able to consciously tell that distinction in the first place I can't imagine it would be any better during the years he was being manipulated and isolated and lied to
Like in Duncan's mind it probably isn't, "maybe I shouldn't idolize a national criminal, or idolize anyone at all for that matter, and aspire to be like someone so harmful when I can recognize my own talent and build from there" it's probably more like, "you (the wizard) permanently got rid of a brilliant mind, an innocent person who just made a few mistakes, and someone who believed in me no matter what just so that you could be the better than me and loved by everyone else" and that's! very sad actually!
#this is all speculation btw idk if any of this is canon. how duncan feels about all this#i know i keep saying the exact same shit over and over but.... really not a fan of how the game handled duncan! sorry!#i know wizard101 isnt supposed to be about every single character gets a satisfying ending to their arc-#-meaning not everyone in the story will face consequences and/or find a happy ending and like thats fine they dont need to#but idkkkk its just imo really sad how essentially a kid suffers frrom something he cant control by himself (his ego)-#and then instead of getting help he is instead ignored (ambrose) and then manipulated and brought up by a cult#and then when it becomes super apparent how... TERRIBLE his life really is and we defeat him he just... goes back??????#we.... we LET him go back???? i mean we're not responsible for other people's bad decisions or mental health but bro....#and then when we tell ambrose he's just like “oh. too bad. well anyways-” AND IM LIKE WELL THATS THE REASON!!!!! NO WONDER HE'S FUCKED UP#NONE OF THIS IS ADDRESSED. NONE OF IT. WE KICK DUNCAN'S ASS AND THEN HE.... GOES BACK TO THE CABAL#i literally just got so desolate when (wallaru spoilers) because. okay. all that for nothing i guess#this isnt me being mad btw LMAO i know the tone probably reads as angry but im not im just disappointed#and tired. what is it with wizard101 in particular and just people suffering with no end. (me as i make my main suffer with no end)#but anyways yeah duncan has been in my head for a while. he's one of the guys that i love a lot BDKSNSKAJ#he's like a son to me and HE NEEDS A HEALTHY PARENT. HE NEEDS IT#not excusing his actions btw. he still committed crimes JRKDJSIEJ#i just have a soft spot for those villains in media who are doomed from the start yknow. (stares tearfully at morganthe and gf spider)#wizard101#wiz101#w101#text posts#duncan grimwater#im not normal about duncan at all he's probably the wozard oc i feel for the most other than malorn and us

Me making a Mario species/oc based on the question "what if Belly Blech Worms were larva or caterpillars"? It's more likely than you think!
more information about the Belly Blech Moths and Hanky beneath the cut 👇:
Belly Blech Moths are rare to come by, as requirements for a Belly Blech Worm to actually pupate are absurdly hard to meet especially in today's era. They are considered pests in Beanish culture because of the mass amounts of produce they infest with spawn, the barbaric nature anyone infested with one resorts too, and the potential health problems that come with it. The only saving grace that prevents them from going completely extinct through the thorough combing of mass produced bean fruits and natural pesticides is that they can produce eggs asexually and in very large quantities.
A host is required for a Belly Blech Worm to pupate they need a host of suitable size. This is one reasons it is hard for them to pupate, as most Beanish have gotten smaller and smaller over the years, and bigger built Beanish have gotten scarcer. Should they try to use a common garden variety Beanish they will usually evacuate the host themselves, as it becomes too cramped for them as well as their instinctual drive not to bring harm to the one that is housing them. They will search for a better host like a hermit crab trying to find a bigger shell, usually wandering and reproducing until they cease.
However, to those that ARE a suitable host and don't immediately find a way to discard of them, they produce a chemical that acts as a steroid for their host to act as a protective guard. The wild behaviors usually come from the wild mindset and lack of understanding from the worm, as they gain some control over the body. It is there that they spend much time learning how to be a Beanish, scouring through the memories of their host while keeping them protected and safe. The Beanish may eat more and act unusually aggressive for some period of time since the worm eats their share of food until they're ready to cocoon themselves in the lining of their stomach.
When they're ready to emerge a beautiful moth they will usually try to escape through the mouth or the other end, but if neither options are available they will have to use the last resort of breaking free from the host. Once they emerge they have full coherence on how to speak, walk, and the like. They will tend to pick up the personality of the Beanish they were residing in and in some cases pick up on certain physical traits too such as tufts of hair or markings on the body. It's from there that they will try to blend in as much as possible to benefit from being able to live in a society with intelligence that isn't as low as a worm's, using clothes and whatnot to do so. They may just look strange for Beanish standards. They do, however, come to about the average Beanish height of 3ft.
It's quite easy for them to do having learned from their host, but one wrong slip could land them in trouble. Being distant cousins to fighter flies, they can be quite jittery and excitable, showing intense emotions through high jumps and frantic fluttering of the wings.
While Beanish hosts are preferred other methods are available, such as taking up residency withing a Dragohoho, Clumph, or Bean Piranha with the latter being a much more difficult option. Should they survive any of these methods their appearance tends to be drastically different from the norm, having more vibrant colors and bigger wingspans. They also tend to be more wild in nature. The Bean Moth species stems from ancient times, which is why they need much bigger host. They have evolved over the years to sacrifice survivability for quantity.
Because of where they typically reside and grow in their youth, Belly Blech Moths have the ability to secrete oil from their wings if they feel threatened. The smell causes anyone nearby to tear up and start laughing uncontrollably. Should they be eaten and digested it will result in the one that consumed them potentially dying of laughter.
They are not male or female, rather they are what they choose given they have reproductive organs that apply to both. A side note that doesn't necessarily have to do with anything, but they were inspired by both Mexican jumping beans and bean leafrollers.
Hanky: Comic Sick
In the events of Comic Sick Hanky is spared by Clawdy ( @6clawdy6 ) and housed with the group after attacking from within a very discomforted Pest Nut. initially being watched over by Cackletta (aka the one who sicced Hanky on Queen Bean during the events of the game and hand raised Hanky before then). It was then that Gera took on the responsibility of acting as a host, shifting into his Beanish look to do so. Although he was small he was plenty durable enough for the job. Hanky's altered appearance stems from Geragera's odd magic energies and the rowdier living environment. He's also very chaotic in nature, and somewhat aggressive still. He later gets his signature handkerchief from Popple, who had a run in with the very same Piranha Bean that swallowed Peasley. He initially kept it in hopes of lying about being in cahoots with the prince and gaining access to pvp areas, but having no use for it being off planet and seeking new opportunities.
Hanky: Hooniversity Crew Verse
Turns out after he was spat out by Queen Bean he started relentlessly hunting the prince instead, only to be swallowed up by the Piranha Bean that had attacked Prince Peasley beforehand. He ended up finding a handkerchief that had been lost within the belly of the beast and using it to protect himself against the acids within the Piranha Bean's stomach, as it is slow acting and the handkerchief would absorb it and dry before it had the chance to dissolve. He managed to survive by sticking to the stomach lining and away from the acids that consume until he was ready to pupate. He took the handkerchief as a trophy and made his grand escape. His hosting situation is the reason why he may seem a bit more eccentric in nature and have a general lack of understanding as to why or how things work, still doing his best to learn every day. His alternative appearance also has to do with his harsher living environment and characteristics of the Piranha Bean.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking about Smash Ultimate and the extent of Galeem's attack. Like, the universes of the playable characters got affected, that much's obvious. But then you look at the spirits, and there are several characters there who aren't from games represented by playable characters. Then there are those spirits from games that are not even by Nintendo, and the crossover Mii costumes...
Then you think a bit more and you realize, that if Galeem's attack did spread by association, then... that dooms games that have had previous crossovers with other universes, including those in games like Fortnite, Brawlhalla and Dead by Daylight, like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Left 4 Dead - but not just games. Films and shows, too. DC, Marvel, Stranger Things, Ringu, Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Hellraiser, Saw, Star Wars, Steven Universe, Kung Fu Panda, and many more; all fucked.
It doesn't stop there. Sora is in the game. From Kingdom Hearts. Which is, by itself, a giant Disney/Final Fantasy crossover. So, every single fictional universe from every Disney property is done for, including the ones from Fox. Does this work for Netflix properties, too? If Stranger Things was hit, does that mean other shows like Wednesday, La Casa de Papel, Cidade Invisível, Sense 8, were also affected?
What about shared actors? Does that mean otherwise unrelated universes with the same cast were hit, too? What about real life people who appear in Fortnite and Brawlhalla, like WWE superstars and professional athletes and YouTubers? Was this enough to connect Galeem to entirely unrelated fictional universes via the real world, like, say, a Mexican or Brazilian telenovela?
But that's not all! Galeem has brought back characters who died in their respective universes as evidenced by their spirits being in the game, such as Tabuu.
As the cherry on the cake? During the credits, those souls being freed? There seem to be BILLIONS of them, MANY more than there are in the game.
Galeem might have very well single-handedly murdered every single fictional character ever created, obliterated every fictional universe ever made, even bringing back those who had died in their original universes to serve as his thralls, villains, heroes and neutral characters alike, except for Kirby. He was literally the ONLY ONE LEFT.
Forget Thanos' snap and the Death Star, this motherfucker has commited the biggest mass genocide in the history of fiction. When Lifelight says "everyone caught in the struggle," it really does fucking mean EVERYONE.

Maybe that Mario & Luigi warping footage has driven me mad and now I'm just terminally stuck on MAXIMUM BROTHERLY ANGST but the fact that the Mario movie seems willing to go to a very emotional and sweet place with their relationship is killing me!!! Here are some Mario and Luigi-specific theories/possible moments I've been thinking about for the movie, all nicely compiled (and not just tossed into other people's inboxes, haha) - maybe they'll happen in some way, maybe they won't, but if they DO, oh man, I will be a puddle of goo in the movie theater they'll have to sweep up afterwards:
Mario opening up to Peach and Toad about Luigi, what their life was like in the past, their closeness, and his fears/anxieties about the possibility of not being able to save his brother (some version of this seems EXTREMELY likely in the fire flower scene) (and likewise, Luigi talking to his fellow prisoners about Mario and how much he misses his brother!)
Both brothers taking moments throughout the movie to think of each other and draw inner strength/resolve from that - for instance, Mario struggling with his training, feeling exhausted and hopeless, but thinking of Luigi in danger and how much his brother needs him and that giving him the burst of strength and determination he needs to finally complete the course
LIKEWISE, Luigi panicking or struggling to act in his scary predicaments but thinking of Mario and what he would do/say in situations like this and being able to keep going/stay brave because of that memory
BOWSER FIGURING OUT THE RELATION AND USING LUIGI AGAINST MARIO AT A CRITICAL MOMENT??? (I'm sorry, but it feels like the interrogation stuff has to lead SOMEWHERE) (Bowser clearly is looking for info/weak points he can use against Mario, and Luigi himself ultimately IS that weak point!!!)
This could play out in a lot of different ways - using an in-danger Luigi as bait for a trap, maybe there's some Magic Shenanigans where Kamek throws Luigi's voice to lure Mario away from the group during a battle, or maybe Bowser just taunts Mario about his brother and how Mario's too weak to save him from the torture he's endured/will endure. Whatever the case is, Mario's anger and Ultra Big Brother Instincts overriding all other common sense could cause him to act too rashly or make some serious mistakes in the heat of the moment. :(
Either brother thinking that the other is dead for any period of time and just being BROKEN but also FULL OF FIERY VENGEANCE because of it!!! I know, I know, put me in Angst Jail but Mario could get blown off Rainbow Road and presumed dead for a little while, which could get back to Luigi through Bowser or his minions, OR maybe Luigi escapes but Bowser lies to Mario and tells that he disposed of his brother already and he's too late. I could just see both of them breaking down at first but ultimately being ANGRY above all else and resolving to avenge the other, no matter what ;___; (and this would also make their eventual reunion even MORE emotional and impactful)
Speaking of, the brothers reuniting with the BIGGEST, MOST DESPERATE, CLINGING HUG YOU'VE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE (this is truly all I care about, I just need the movie to get this right, PLEASE)
Bonus points if there's a big lead-up to it where they maybe they just hear each other at first, or they see one another from a far-away distance and they're just RUNNING and FIGHTING and SCRAMBLING to reach each other, calling out all the while, to the point that they can't even stop, they just TACKLE each other at full speed
(They've never been apart this long before! Ever since they can remember, they've been joined at the hip, and this whole time, it's felt like they were missing a limb, but now THEY'RE BOTH HERE and THEY'RE OKAY and there's a lot of fussing over injuries and frantic questions and THE BIGGEST, TEARIEST SMILES EVER and it finally feels like everything's really gonna be okay, even though there might still be an ongoing invasion/final battle to take care of)
After reuniting, there being a situation where they need to split up again temporarily to accomplish different goals in the name of stopping Bowser and Mario is actually the more anxious one for once who really doesn't want to let Luigi out of his sight after they've just found each other again, but Luigi takes a turn reassuring him that it's gonna be okay (and Mario is quietly impressed by how his brother seems a little braver after his ordeal)
ALSO after reuniting, there being a moment before the final battle with Bowser where Mario is self-doubting and isn't sure he can win, but Luigi doesn't understand that because ever since they were little and dealing with playground bullies, he's ALWAYS thought of Mario as a hero - this new role just fits him so well, at least in Luigi's eyes, and he knows that Mario can do this (I KNOW, I KNOW, A LITTLE CHEESY, but!! i just love the idea of Luigi hearing about/seeing his brother as The Hero and being like "yep, my big bro IS amazing and brave and the absolute best, this makes sense!")
At any point, Mario actually seeing Bowser hurt/threaten Luigi and just going ABSOLUTELY BALLISTIC because of it. RIP BOWSER, YA IDIOT
Possibly related to the above, but it feels like a pretty sure thing that the final battle has to be Bowser VS Mario all the way, that's how so many games end, but! I do think Luigi could provide important assistance at one or two moments. Like maybe Bowser is startling to struggle and goes for the power star, but Luigi has already beaten him to it and manages to throw it to Mario before Bowser reaches him - but then he gets STRUCK HARD or even knocked out by Bowser and Mario's anguished reaction sets off the star's power! (I did see that somewhere else, not my original idea - the concept that the star can only be activated by an intense, pure-hearted emotion - but I love it <3)
That's all I got for now - again, even a FRACTION of these happening would be officially Too Much for my little, feeble heart. I'm just so grateful that from everything we've seen so far, the movie really does seem to be centering the brothers' relationship (even if they're not physically together for most of it) and how much they mean to each other and that is everything!

I shared some Piranha Plant biology HCs the other day on a Discord server with some friends so I think I'll share em here too!
The spots on Piranha Plants act as sensory organs. They see via heat (kinda like Wildmutt in Ben 10 or the Predator). They are more sensitive than most parts of its body. If you get snapped up by one and are still able to reach your best bet to get loose is to hit the spots.
They have a very slow digestion time but their stems (and in some cases, bodies) are very elastic. This means they can potentially store stuff that they want to keep safe for a temporary amount of time in their gullets or stomach (ei. Their young, small object, etc). They spit items out when they're done storing them.
They are seen in packs like a garden, but are also somewhat cannibalistic… only to withered and dead Piranha Plants, as they eat the fallen to regain what little nutrients is left and also make way for new generations. Essentially, derooting a dead plant.
Piranha Plants are Asexual and only germinate when they need to increase numbers. They are born from pods that turn into Nippits. The Nippits are very quick to grow, only taking about a few days to a week to turn into a juvenile Piranha Plant. The pods sprout almost instantly when the right conditions are met.
Piranha Plants mostly speak in grunts, growls, and chirps, but can mimic the sounds of short phrases and words such as "hi" "yes" "no" "ouch" and so on. They are fully aware of what these phrases mean and use it to their advantage as ambush Predators. They've managed to lure in sentient speaking creatures by mimicking the sounds of panic and saying things like "help" while hiding amongst things like shrubbery or old pipes.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk I hope you enjoyed my ramblings of Piranha Plant speculative biology

I know there's some speculation that the next Mario movie is going to be a spinoff rather than a sequel since Shigeru Miyamoto worded the announcement as "a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros."
Tumblr media
However, in that same announcement, the CEO of Illumnation said the movie will be "a return to The Super Mario Brothers," so consider this:
The specific wording wasn't a hint that the movie's going to be a spinoff, but a hint that it is going to be loosely based on "Super Mario World."

just an observation to share, maybe my hearing is awful and this is not true, but I have listened to the Mario & Luigi clip probably north of 50 times at this point (i'm TOTALLY normal about this movie, i am NOT drowning in a sea of emotion at all times about the sweetest brothers of all time, I SWEAR) and I feel very convinced that Mario doesn't actually say "It's gonna be ok/all right as long as we're together." I believe he says: "I've got you! Nothing can hurt us as long as we're together." Which honestly, I like better and even has a slightly stronger vibe of "we've been treated badly by people in the past but we've always had each other to turn to and lean on no matter what and that's made all the difference." And now, for the first time in their lives, they suddenly won't have that and i cry and cry and CRY
I really hope this clip is the one being shared over the weekend too because 1) pls don't release any more footage, MY FEEBLE HEART CAN'T TAKE IT AND I JUST WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE AT THIS POINT, and 2) I just want to know what the actual lines are for 100% certain, my brain is rattled from trying to tune out the much louder talking, haha.
We're all totally normal about this movie 8D Nothing abnormal whatsoever here.
Ok, so I went back to listen to it again, and someone has managed to subtitle the whole thing, and it looks like it's the correct lines!
(bold text is the 'new' lines)
"We'll be fine! We'll be ok!"
"How is it gonna be ok?!"
"I'm telling you, everything's gonna be alright as long as we're together!"
So yeah I'll admit I've had a feeling that I got the line wrong. Other people have been adding their own ideas, but yeah this one seems to be the official version.
At the time my ears picked up what I thought it was saying (difficult trying to hear past loud talking, as you are aware!) And since then my brain had been getting mixed up with what I thought I heard, and what other people were suggesting they heard.
Oh but my heart if it had been "Nothing can hurt us" 😭 It just fits. Maybe it will appear later in a different way.
I do hope this is the clip being shown on Saturday. I've heard some speculation that it will be more of the DK fight, but I really hope it isn't. We've seen enough in my opinion to get us enticed. Why do they need to spoil even more of it? Just let us see it when the movie comes out.
