4 Greatest Teachers Who Redefined The Idea Of Education In Ancient India
Tumblr media
Summary: On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, let us celebrate the most celebrated teachers of India who have redefined the meaning of education.
“Knowledge gives us power, love gives us fullness."- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Every year on the 5th of September, India celebrates the teachers and the essence of their direct contribution to building the nation’s future. But do you know why we celebrate this day?
Though teacher’s day is celebrated across the globe on different dates, India celebrates it on the 5th of September every year as a tribute to the contribution of India’s former President- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was knighted in 1931 and was made an honorary member of the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5. He was a great philosopher and scholar and was conferred with Bharat Ratna. Born in a poor family in Andhra Pradesh’s Tiruttani, he was a bright student and continued to pursue his studies through scholarships.
When he became the President of India, his students approached him and requested him to celebrate his birthday. To this, he replied, “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege, if 5th September is observed as Teachers' day." From then onwards, India celebrates the 5th of September as Teacher’s day every year.
Along with Dr. Radhakrishnan, India has been blessed to have a lot of other legendary teachers who have given valuable lessons without being preachy. And their lessons can still be implemented in today’s world.
1.            Savitribai Phule
“Sit idle no more. Go get an education.”
Whenever education is mentioned, Savitribai Phule is the name that deserves to be known as one of the best teachers who has ever walked on Indian soil. Savitribai Phule is also known as India’s first female teacher. In 1848, when the country was under colonial rule and facing various caste issues, she along with her husband opened a school for girls who were tagged as “untouchable.”
It was not an easy decision as she faced extreme opposition and criticism from her community. But she did not give up on something she truly believed in and continued to teach girls in her school. Later, she even opened five more schools and her efforts were appreciated by the British Government. Throughout her life, she stood up for women’s rights and raised her voice against the atrocities inflicted upon women.
2.            Chanakya
The list of best teachers in India is incomplete without mentioning the name of Chanakya. Also known as Kautilya and Vishnugupta from the 4th century, he was an ancient Indian polymath who was active as a teacher, author, philosopher, strategist, jurist, economist, and royal advisor.
He was a royal advisor to the emperor Chandragupta Maurya of the Mauryan Dynasty. His two books Nitishastra which is popularly known as Chanakya Niti and Arthashashtra are still perceived as the best books of ancient times as they consist of thought-provoking ideas which are still applicable. Both books reflect his wisdom as it mentions a lot of experiential realities from his time.
3.            Swami Vivekanand
Swami Vivekanand needs no introduction. His unparalleled intellect has made him one of the great Indian reformers. Many people think he was just another spiritual leader. However, he was much more than that. He was a prolific thinker, a great orator, and a passionate patriot. Born on January 12, 1863, as Narendranath Dutta, into an affluent Bengali family in Calcutta, Vivekananda was one of the eight children of Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvaneshwari Devi.
He carried on the baton of the free-thinking philosophy of his guru- Ramakrishna Paramhansa and worked tirelessly towards  betterment of the society. His message of universal brotherhood and self-awakening remains relevant even today. His birthday is celebrated as the National Youth Day in India.
4.            Gautam Buddha
Born in 480 BC, Gautam Buddha was born as a prince to king Buddha. He was the founder of the greatest religion on earth. In a constant search for freedom, purpose, and peace, he renounced his kingdom and luxurious life. He followed a strict penance under a Bodhi tree and later founded Buddhism. He then went on to spread the teachings of Buddhism across the world and went on to educate humanity through his Eightfold Path.
Teachers are the pillar of strength and the guiding force in a student’s life. They are not only responsible for building their student’s future, but also contribute in a great way to building a nation and its society. Teachers pass on values to children and prepare them for further education. They influence students and students learn from them.

Swami Vivekananda, the pioneer of self-aggrandizement: His Thought, Education of Yoga and Vedanta.
Swami Vivekananda, the pioneer of self-aggrandizement: His Thought, Education of Yoga and Vedanta.
Indian knowledge has been omitted in the education of independent India. New generations have been deprived of many valuable lessons. On the contrary, misleading assumptions have been made about modern education. For example, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas etc. are called ‘Dharmagranth’. One such misleading assumption has been made about Swami Vivekananda. He is said to be a religious…

DAY 4677
Jalsa, Mumbai                   Dec 19/20,  2020               Sat/Sun 12:17 AM
Birthday - EF Binita Sarkar .. Sunday, December 20 .. and we wish you a very happy wala birthday aur greetings ki bharmaar .. 🤣🤣🙏

Desire, want, is the father of all misery.
                    Desires are bound
                                 by laws of success
                    and failure

पा सकते हो निर्वाण पुनीत

... in the end , for us all , the essence of life is the spread of grief and pain ; the basis of pain and grief be desire ; if you can be victorious over desire, then you could achieve salvation from grief and pain , you can achieve the purity of nirvana   ....
Babuji’s words are from his poem ‘Buddha aur Naachghar’.. the words of Swami Vivekanand the saint philosopher , are from a collection of his thoughts ‘life lessons‘ in his ‘Believe in Yourself ‘ ..
Buddha aur Naachghar .. Buddha and the Dancing Hall .. is the poem he wrote while he was doing his PhD in Cambridge, England on WB Yeats and Occultism .. a course normally taking 4 years in its completion but completed with honours and the PhD in just 2 years .. 1952 to 1954 ..
He studied relentlessly .. hours and hours of work and no respite .. when he got tired he would stand and work .. made a table from his own hand craft and some of the very meagre resources he had, where he could stand and write .. an image that remained with me , when I constructed a similar table here in Jalsa in my room to keep working if I got tired of sitting down ..
.. the few friends from India that were studying with him in Cambridge, one day decided to end his work monopoly and took him out for some leisure and relax to a ‘dancing Hall’ .. the equivalent of a Discotheque or a Club in todays time .. there Babuji saw at the far end of this dance hall, a large statue of Gautam Buddha, adorning the decoration of the venue , where couples were ball room dancing , to a band music and enjoying their evening drinks and eats ..
.. he came back somewhat disturbed and wrote one of his classics in the most delicious satire that has even to this day, brought the admiration and applause of the readers and listeners of his recitation ..
.. some may be aware of it .. some may have read it .. some may have had opportunity to hear me recite this poem - perhaps some of the Ef that travelled all the way to Paris to the Théâtre des Champs Elysées , for this stage recitation some years back .. a delight and a privilege for me .. and my most memorable interaction with the Ef .. as they expressed their admiration after the final poem was over and the strains of ‘Madhushala’ were being sung by me, with the most beautiful red roses that they threw on stage in appreciation and applauded ..
.. a most loved occasion for me .. and I would hope for the travelling Ef as well, that came together from different parts of the World to attend this event ..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.. the climax of the end .. that strain again .. in the timing of its completion on hand .. music the food of love .. music the rhythm of the heart beat .. that invisible thread that binds the ethereal with the real .. that binds the atma to the parmatma  .. the soul to the divine ..
.. and in its divinity the exuberance of completion , of our little mercies , of effort , of learning , of the deliverance , and the ultimate ultimatum .. nirvana ..  the Eden of the promised land  .. known to us all in belief and words, but never seen in its reality .. the symbolism breathes within us from the emergence of the human .. and its belief ..
.. long may its validity remain ..
.. and long may the validity of companionship and love .. of care and concern .. of association and admiration .. and the caress of softness be embodied in its personification ...

What is National Youth Day ?
National Youth Day is considered special Because the unity of youth is talked about on this day, India is the country of Youth and it's celebrated 12th January Every year.
Why National Youth Day is celebrated ?
Well, this is celebrated on the occasion of swami vivekananda Ji Birthday. This is 159th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Ji . And this is last long for 5 days, every year it's celebrated just to empower the youth of Our Country.
What is the aim of National Youth Day?
The main aim of this is to bring the positivity in youth just to empower them to give guidance about what is wrong and what is & right , social welfare etc etc. And to make the unity among youngsters for every good work.
Swami Vivekanand has taught many good things to our society and our youth which we have to follow, but is we are following their path correctly is we are doing the same thing which Swami Vivekananda has taught to us .!?
Well the answer is absolutely no today's young generation is just going on the wrong path they are totally on the wrong path and one of the biggest mistake of this generation is that they are not accepting their fault. Today's generation are not in the support of right things they are just promoting bad things which are harmful for society and this will lead to our destruction. Today's Young Generation is ahead in Doing Riots & consumption of intoxication.
Today's young generation is going away from God totally, they are not believing spirituality, going far away from god we are doing many crimes and collecting sins. They are not doing worship they are just wasting their time in watching films roaming here and there and doing very useless activities.
But What was the actual reason behind this ?
One of the biggest reason behind this is that we are for a from Supreme god we are not doing true worship which is based on Holy scripture of every religion we are not following the law and constitution of God and in the result we are just preparing our self to destroy need to understand the real essence of human life and why worship is necessary for human life.
So just think about this.

National Youth Day Celebrated at AAFT University
Tumblr media
New Delhi: National Youth Day is celebrated on 12 January being the birthday of Swami Vivekanand, one of India’s greatest spiritual and social leaders. In 1984 the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day and since 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year.
“Swami saw hope for the future in every child and believed that with “muscles of iron” and “nerves of steel” they could bring about social change. Swami himself personified the eternal energy of the youth and a restless quest for truth. Today, almost 50 percent of India’s population is under the age of 25. The future of the country rides on their shoulders- making celebrations that empower young people so important,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor of AAFT University of Media Arts in a webinar to celebrate National Youth Day in association with Scouts Guides Organisation.
“Swami Vivekananda propounded the importance of Education in building a nation. He believed that education was the primary means to empowering people. He specially emphasized on education being relevant to the common masses,” added Dr. Marwah who is also Chief Scout For India.
National Youth Day creates awareness and provides knowledge about the rights of people in India. It is a day to educate people to behave properly in the country. The main objective behind the celebration is to make a better future of the country by motivating the youths and spreading the ideas of the Swami Vivekananda. National Youth Day is also famous as Yuva Diwas.
