I am hereby peer-pressuring you to list which specific elves are which kind of vulture. :)

Since I mentioned that Fëanor seems especially vulture-y to me, let’s take a closer look at his family. The Vanyar tend more toward eagle characteristics than the Noldor anyway, which is reflected in the children of Indis. Fëanor is peak Noldo and therefore peak vulture.

He gets it from his mother. Silver-haired Míriel Therindë, the queenly and dignified Cinerous Vulture:

Fëanor himself is a King Vulture, since, hey, he’s meant to be king, naturally, and also those colours seem to fit his inventive spirit and complex personality:

Nerdanel would be a Bearded Vulture or Lämmergeier - red hair, able to eat bones, etc.:

Same for Maedhros, “well-shaped” “copper-top” indeed:

Maglor is a sternly goth White-rumped Vulture:

Since Curufin takes after his father, he’s a King Vulture too:

Celebrimbor, on the other hand, is a tragically beautiful Egyptian Vulture:

Caranthir is mentioned as being “red-faced” and angry-looking - that’s because he’s a Lappet-faced Vulture, seen here explaining tax law:

Re: the trashing the bathroom post that you reblogged from me--if it makes you feel any better, I really don't think op meant it was ok to do. I think they were just explaining why people do it. Even wrong actions have reasons behind them and analyzing or explaining them is not the same thing as excusing them.

Hmmmm... yeah, that might be, but it still leaves a bitter taste on my mouth. It sounds like we should be accepting of toxic behaviour because we don’t know from what kind of place these people come from. It could have been worded better, I guess.  Listen, I know how it is. I used to lash out at people who weren’t responsible for my bad mood. I was mad at my work, but I wasn’t allowed to scream at my boss, so I screamed at my husband instead. Until he told me that what I did was not ok. And he was absolutely right, it wasn’t. I stopped doing it. I found another outlet for my anger.  These people need to learn that “trashing the bathroom” won’t fix anything.

For the headcanon meme: Marlowe?

What they smell like: like righteousness 

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): sounds like a good boy so maybe sticks to a proper sleeping schedule, goes to bed early although sometimes will fall asleep with a book on his face. Sleeps either facing up or to the side (wondering if HItch is asleep too lmao)

What music they enjoy: hmm idk a lot about him but I’ll say new wave and derived styles because it kinda looks like he’d be into that hahaha

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: I think he’d take his time, but wake up very early for it.

Favorite sport: i associate him with water, calm but also tempestuous at times, so he might be a good diver and at snorkeling. Not so sure about surfing but maybe at skiing.

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): visit historical places but also go hiking to very high places and take breathtaking pics.

Favorite kind of weather: tempered

A weird/obscure fear they have: to absolute silence

I think that's because so many happy endings are written in a formulaic and often rushed manner that doesn't feel real or satisfying. All the problems mysteriously disappear or get wrapped up by deus ex machina, and every character gets quickly paired off, sometimes even to the point of multiple weddings.

Oh yes, those kinds of “happy endings” are absolutely the Worst (ahem, mockingjay epilogue).

I don’t even necessarily want HAPPY endings, but I like HOPEFUL endings, the kind where yes okay maybe everything is still shit but there’s a way out of the shit. It might involve free-climbing a brick wall and it might suck, but there’s a way out and that’s the direction we’re heading.

So, say, Rogue One? NOT A HAPPY ENDING. Everyone dies, for fuck’s sake. I cried a whole bunch! But it is a HOPEFUL ending. They won. I loved it.

I’m not here for cotton candy fluff--or well, I am, occasionally, but you’ve gotta EARN it (in a storytelling sense, not in a morality sense) or it’s just... boring, among other things.

When you say you "prefer" certain ships, does that mean you absolutely don't want submissions containing other pairings, or just that you like those ships better and want to encourage them?

The latter! I’ll still publish quotes with other pairings if they’re submitted, but I wanted to keep the content on the blog relatable to a greater amount of people and also make it so the quotes sound more like they could be actual quotes from the comic (hence why canon pairings like Abel/Cain and Helios/Selene are preferred over all).

I understand that a lot of incorrect quotes blogs are ship-free for the reason that ships are very subjective and not everyone can agree on them, but from what I’ve seen the ones I’ve listed are the more popular ones and I think they should be okay. The rule is subject to change however, if things become an issue I’ll cut it down to just the canon pairings.

I hope you don’t mind me answering this publicly, it’s a good question and I thought others might like to know! Hope this helps :)

Strange question I know, but could a spaceship have a domovoi? If so, would he have to be invited?

That’s a good question. Some people in the Russian segment of the Internet say that there must be a different kind of Domovoi - Bortovoi (Бортовой in Cyrillic, from борт - “board of spaceship"). The idea didn't go any further than a joke, anyway. Not a single picture of a space Domovoi!

Researchers suggest that once upon a time a Domovoi was invited to the house by a human sacrifice, aka building sacrifices/bilders’ rites (the remains of the human were placed in the foundations). Then, over time, people switched to animal sacrifice. After Christianization, the animal sacrifice also stopped being cool, and gradually people began to use food (bread, porridge, pies, good old alcohol) putting it next to the stove.

So, if we are talking about the most effective way to get a household spirit - a human/animal sacrifice - I’m afraid it won’t work for a spaceship. It doesn’t have foundations, and immuring of remains in the walls of the ship will worsen its aerodynamics (and who knows what else) and lead to a catastrophe. I’m sure that Domovoi doesn’t want to burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere that’s why he won’t come to live in such a place.

If we are talking about food attraction, then everything is much easier. Astronauts just need to put some delicious space food or drink next to the spaceship engine (it’s probably warm like a stove) or in the kitchen module (???) of the space station, if it has one. And maybe one day some spaceshiphold spirit will want to stay there forever.
