Get ready for some heady comparisons. While Jeanines (New York) have been posted about and mentioned before, this hasn't happened nearly enough.
Jeanines make indie-pop that hits the Goldilocks zone. Sweet, but not too sweet, jangly but not too jangly - you get the idea. They sound like a cross between Japanese and British/Scottish pop with a large dose of Aislers Set. So yes, this reminds one of bands like Dolly Mixture, The Pastels, Television Personalities, Look Blue Go Purple - again, you get the idea.
This is a joint release by Slumberland Records and Where It's At Is Where You Are (WIAIWYA).
By the way, I'm heading out for a two-week East Coast USA trip. Micah may post more often, but I'm sure postings will come less consistently.

I've been expecting this, even checking periodically, after her show went off the air, knowing of her ill health. But damn, it hits hard none the less, especially when you see she was really quite young. What a lovely person she was. How much joy she brought to people, and how fortunate we are to have her books and the archive of Neko no Shippo, Kaeru no Te.

Thought I'd check out Television Personalities, vaguely knowing the name in post-punk circles, and I gotta say a lo-fi discordant Billy Bragg is not what I was expecting

Tax day. Let's send some money to Slumberland. They're running a three-fer bundle and after today we'll have covered all three releases: lighthearted, Lunchbox, and this - the new LP from Oakland based Neutrals.
Allan McNaughton's (originally from Scotland) music (don't forget Giant Haystacks) has tended to the trebly/quick strum sound that you can hear on the lead single here - "Wish You Were Here". The sound reminds me of earlier Wedding Present. The songs also remind one of Television Personalities. A previous release on Bandcamp also mentioned Meat Whiplash - here is a link to Optic Nerve Recordings reissue of their "Don't Slip Up" 7".
