I'm so sorry it took so long for me to write this. I think I've started over more times than I can count :'). I feel like this is such a wonderful request, but it somehow felt like I couldn't do it justice. I hope you somewhat like it.
Hope everyone's doing fine 🤍✨

‘Have you ever had a girlfriend?’, Hange’s red cheeks gave away that she may have too much to drink.
‘No’, Levi let out an annoyed sigh.
‘Have you ever kissed a girl?’, she took another sip, a smirk on her face. ‘You’re even more of a pain in the ass when you’re drunk, you know that?’.
‘That’s a no. Right, Erwin? He’s never kissed a girl, I’m sure of it’.
‘Tell her to shut up, Erwin’, Levi’s cold eyes followed Hange’s drunk gestures. ‘You know… It’s Valentine's Day next month. Spending it in your office again?’.
He didn’t know why. He didn’t know why he felt the need to lie, but before he could even think about it …
‘No’, Levi sighed while looking at the ceiling, ‘I’m going on a date’.
‘Right’, Hange laughed while trying to keep herself from crying as she wrapped her arm around her stomach, ‘A date? With whom?’.
‘A date?’, Erwin frowned, his arms leaning on the table, ‘Why didn’t you tell me you were seeing someone?’.
Why did his heart start to race? Was he seriously panicking? Over something this petty?
‘Is it someone of the Corps? It has to be. You never go out!’ Hange leaned over the table, her nose almost touching Levi’s.
The Corps? It had to be someone from the Corps. She would never believe him if he told her it was someone from the city…
‘Y/N’.
‘What?’, Erwin’s eyes slightly widened, ‘Y/N? Squad leader Y/N?’.
‘Never’, Hange sat back down, ‘They would’ve told me’.
‘I told them not to’, his crescent-shaped eyes stared into Hange’s. He couldn’t look at Erwin, because Erwin would see right through his lies.
‘Fine, I’ll ask them’, Hange raised her hands as she stood up from the table, ‘They’re probably in their room right now so…’.
‘Don’t be childish’, Levi closed his eyes, trying to remain calm as his heart was racing, ‘You can ask them tomorrow, I don’t care’.
‘I will’, she narrowed her eyes. ‘Good’, Levi placed down his cup, ‘I’m going to my office. See you tomorrow’.
He lazily raised his hand in the air as he heard the ‘goodnights’ from his friends.
‘Shit’, his pace fastened as his mind started to race. Why did he get himself into this mess?
‘Just knock’, his fist hovered over your door, ‘Just ask. They don’t mind’.
He carefully knocked on your door, straightening his back while doing so.
‘L-Levi?’, you widened your eyes, ‘Is everything okay?’. ‘I did a stupid thing’, he sighed as he leaned against your doorframe. ‘Huh?’, you tried to ignore how close he was; how his scent made your cheeks burn. ‘I told Hange and Erwin you’re my date for Valentine. So, if you could pretend that we’re dating-’.
‘W-what?’, your eyes flew open, your teeth nervously nibbling on your bottom lip. ‘She kept teasing me, about how I’ve never been with someone and I…’, he took a deep breath before continuing, ‘I told her I had a date and when she asked with whom, I blurted out your name. Probably because you’re the only squad leader that’s-‘.
He frowned as he took in the sight in front of him. You were blushing, head turned towards the ground in shame. To be honest, you looked as if you were about to cry.
‘Are you alright?’, his cold gaze studying every part of your body, ‘Look. You don’t have to play along, but I would really appreciate it’.
‘Okay’, you shyly responded, eyes still fixed on the ground. ‘Really?’. ‘Hm’, you nodded in response. ‘Thanks’, a cold sigh before he turned around, ‘Goodnight’.
‘N-night’, a response too quiet for him to hear.
---
‘Morning’, Levi sat down next to you, ‘Done with interrogating them, Hange?’. ‘Can’t believe you didn’t tell me’, she pouted. ‘Did you sleep well?’, Levi placed his hand on your thigh, softly pinching it. ‘I-I did’, a nervous giggle, butterflies dancing in your stomach. ‘Good. ‘I’ll see you after training? Thought we could eat something together’. ‘S-sounds good’. ‘Perfect, I’ll see you tonight then’, a soft kiss on your cheek before he walked away.
He never did this before, but somehow it felt natural to him. His hand on your thigh, the feeling of your soft cheeks, your musky scent…
‘Levi?’, you ran behind him, trying to catch up. ‘What?’. ‘D-do we really see each other tonight or-‘, ‘Of course not. I have better things to do’.
But he wanted to. If he was being honest, he wanted to have dinner with you.
‘Sorry’, you tried to hide your disappointment, ‘I’ll see you at the meeting then’.
---
‘I’m going to bed’, you stretched yourself before getting up, ‘See you guys tomorrow’.
‘Aren’t you forgetting something?’.
‘I’m sorry?’, you nervously looked into his tired eyes.
‘Tsk’, Levi stood up from his chair as he walked towards you, ‘Goodnight kid’. Two rough hands met your soft cheeks, pulling you in for a swift kiss.
He didn’t want to do this. No, he only did this, so people really believed him. That’s what he told himself, but he couldn’t ignore the fact that your soft lips tasted like honey or that your little whimper sounded so sweet.
‘Night’, you hastily made your way to the door, too embarrassed to look at the others.
‘Aaaaaa’, Hange couldn’t hide her excitement anymore, ‘I never expected to see you kiss someone!!!’. ‘You’re not the only one’, a smirk on Erwin’s face. ‘Shut up’, Levi coldly looked at his friends, ‘I’ll be in my office’.
Why? Why was he suddenly standing in front of your door again? He was walking to his office, so why was it so hard to walk past your room?
‘Kid?’, a soft knock on your door.
No answer.
‘Y/N?’, his hand on your door, slowly opening it. He knew he couldn’t enter without you answering, but he had to check. He had to know that you were fine.
‘H-huh?’, two scared eyes looking into his.
Awkward. This was the most awkward moment he ever experienced.
‘L-levi?’, your bottom lip trembling in embarrassment as you clumsily tried to hold some sheets in front of your body, ‘Y-you-‘.
He wanted to look away. He even tried to, but the way you hastily grabbed the sheets, the way they were trying to cover up your perfect figure as you sat in your underwear in your bed… He couldn’t look away.
You, on the other hand, couldn’t look at him. Your eyes were fixed on your messy sheets as your shaking hands tried to hold them as close as possible to your body.
‘I’m sorry. I knocked but when you didn’t answer I was worried-‘. ‘I-it’s fine’, your voice shaking. ‘I should probably go. I’ll see you tomorrow’. ‘Hm’, a nervous hum in response.
With every step he took further away from you, the more his heart filled with regret.
---
Weeks passed, and he couldn’t deny it. He couldn’t deny the warm, tingly feeling he got every time his hand intertwined with yours, or the disappointment he felt when he didn’t kiss you goodnight because there was no one in the room to see. After all, this was still an act. He didn’t care about you; he wouldn’t allow himself that privilege. The privilege of caring about someone, of being cared for. He wouldn’t place such a burden on himself.
‘Valentine's Day is next week’, Levi sighed as he grabbed some tea from the cupboard. ‘I know’, you softly smiled as you took a bite from your apple, leaning against the kitchen counter, ‘Shouldn’t you be at Erwin’s meeting? Hange’s there’.
There it was again. Your smile. He loved, but hated it just as much.
‘Levi?’, you frowned as he kept staring at you, his lips tightly pressed together. ‘I’m sorry’, he cleared his throat, forcing his gaze away from you. ‘Can I ask you something?’, a shy step towards him, your head lowered towards the ground. ‘What?’, a forced, firm expression on his face. You didn’t know what you were thinking, but you clearly weren’t when you wrapped your arms around his waist, your head resting on his shoulder, ‘Do you-‘.
No. You couldn’t do this. He wouldn’t let this happen.
‘Don’t’, he interrupted you, his arms coldly resting next to his body, ‘Don’t do this. Don’t make it awkward between us. I only asked you this because there’s no one else in the Corps I could’ve asked’. His hand softly pinching your arm as he pushed you away, ‘There’s just one week left Y/N. I’ll never talk to you again if I don’t have to after this, so please don’t embarrass yourself’.
He pretended he didn’t notice your insecure stance, or the tears building up in the corner of your eyes. It was better like this. After Valentine’s Day, you two could be strangers again and everything he was feeling now would fade away.
---
‘What’s it like being in a relationship with the Captain? Is he romantic?’. ‘Sasha, you can’t ask something like that. Idiot!’, Jean softly smacked the back of her head. ‘It’s nice’, you smiled back at her, ‘He isn’t always an asshole’.
‘Who isn’t?’.
‘No one’, you quickly replied as he sat down next to you. ‘Go sit at another table, I have to discuss something’. ‘A-ai, Captain’, two nervous smiles as Jean and Sasha got up.
‘Which restaurant do you want to go to on Valentine’s Day?’. You chuckled, shaking your head in response, ‘None’. ‘I’ll choose then’.
Choose? He’d made the reservation weeks ago. He knew perfectly well where he was going to have dinner with you.
‘I don’t want to go. I’ll be happy once this shit-show is over’.
This wasn’t like you. You never acted so cold towards him.
‘I’m sorry-‘, ‘Don’t’, you interrupted him, ‘Just a couple of days’.
This is what he wanted, right? He wanted you to hate him, to be disgusted by him… So why did it feel so wrong? Why did he care?
‘Kiss me’. ‘Excuse me?’, you frowned. ‘Hange’s watching. Don’t want her to see through this’.
At this point, he didn’t understand what he was doing, or feeling for that matter. He knew Hange wasn’t watching. He knew no one was, but it’s been days since he felt your touch, and he needed it, more than anything.
‘F-fine’, cheeks already blushing.
He didn’t know why he pulled you closer, why he decided to kiss you like this during lunch, when everyone saw him. He didn’t care that his hand grabbed your waist as his other cupped your cheek. That he decided to kiss you with more passion than usual.
‘Sorry’, that’s all he could say when he saw how confused you felt as you quickly headed inside.
---
‘Got you this’, Levi let out a cold sigh as he handed you the bag, ‘Wear this tomorrow’. ‘W-what?’, your brows pulled together as you carefully grabbed the bag. ‘I already made a reservation in a nice restaurant at the beginning of this, so we’re going tomorrow’. ‘I-I don’t want to’.
‘I don’t care. We’re going. I want Hange to know I spent at least one Valentine’s Day with someone. Otherwise, she’ll bother me again next year’. ‘F-fine’, you turned your head to the side, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’, you closed the door of your room, not bothering to wish him goodnight.
---
‘We’re going to be late’, Levi sighed against your door, ‘Hurry’. ‘R-ready’, you slowly opened the door.
He couldn’t hide it. No one would’ve been able to. You looked stunning in the clothes he got you.
‘Finally’, he swallowed away his inappropriate – and unintended – thoughts. ‘Here’, he held out his arm, ‘Let’s do this properly’. ‘I don’t need to hold onto your arm’. ‘I know, but it’s a man’s way of showing he belongs with you, so please hold it’. You reluctantly placed your hand on his arm, walking through the hallways towards the carriage.
‘Hange didn’t see us’, you sighed as you looked out of the window. ‘No?’, he chuckled, ‘You didn’t see her staring out of the window when we were walking towards the carriage?’. ‘Tsk’, you smiled, ‘She doesn’t need to behave like a stalker’.
‘H-huh?’, you froze as you felt his hand on your leg. ‘It’s become a habit, sorry’.
He didn’t take his hand away from your leg, even though he apologized. It felt as if it was glued onto it.
‘How long before we get there?’, you tried to tear through the awkward atmosphere. ’15 minutes’.
---
‘Dinner was nice’, you slowly opened your door, ‘You didn’t have to pay for it though’. ‘I’m a man, not a boy’, his crescent-shaped eyes stared through yours, ‘A man pays for dinner-‘. ‘When he’s dating someone, not when he’s putting up an act’, you interrupted him.
Another silence.
‘Anyway’, you tried to hide the lump in your throat, ‘I hope the act went well. I’ll guess I see you around’.
His heart sank to his stomach when he saw you opening your door. What about Easter? Easter’s something you celebrate with someone, he could celebrate it with you, right? This didn’t have to end. He didn’t want it to. Not now.
‘Wait’, he placed his hand on yours, closing the door shut. ‘What?’, you lowered your eyes, ignoring the way his warm breath met your ears, his body leaning against yours.
‘Don’t leave me’, a broken whisper as he let his head rest in the space between your shoulder and neck, ‘Stay, please’.
‘W-what do you mean? I’m a squad leader, I’m not going anywhere’. ‘That’s not what I meant’, he gently grabbed your waist, ‘You know what I meant’. ‘B-but you said-‘, ‘I didn’t mean what I said back then, Y/N. I want you. I want you more than anything. You’re always on my mind, and I can’t even count how many times I’ve lied about Hange watching us so that I could kiss you. I ache for your taste, for you. I need you, always. I don’t want this to end, so please...’, a shaky sigh against your shoulder, ‘Please stay with me’.
He took a step backward as you turned around to look at him.
‘Okay’, you whispered, a tear streaming down your cheek.
He knew you wanted to say so much more, but you didn’t have to. He could see it in your eyes, despite the tears rolling down your cheeks, despite your insecure posture… He knew you cared about him, just as much as he cared about you.
‘I’m in love with you, Y/N. For quite a while now’, he gently wiped the tear from your cheek, ‘And I’ve been waiting too long to do this’.
He cupped your cheeks, like he did so many times by now, but he didn’t kiss you like usual. No, this time let all restraints go. He needed to taste you, to show you he wanted you more than anything else. He wanted you to know how addicted he was to you and how crazy he was about you.
‘Mine, you’re mine’, he whispered as he let his forehead rest against yours.
‘I’ve always been yours’.
