Wait aren’t Morgana and Arthur siblings

Yes, they are! Well. No but yes.

At least, they definitely are siblings in BBC Merlin’s canon. They share Uther as a father, which makes them half-siblings. They’re often half-siblings in many variations and retellings, too.

But they weren’t always, just like how Morgana wasn’t always an antagonist/villain. Originally, she was first a healer to Arthur and was one of nine sisters of Avalon (though her true origin likely dates back farther than arthuriana and was inspired by welsh mythology/folklore. You can blame Ol Geoff of Monmouth)

It was later on, in some variations, that she was re-established as Arthur’s half-sister and a morally-grey antagonist. (She was also Merlin’s apprentice in some of these versions too lol)

When it comes to more modern retellings, her portrayal’s become very conflated with her full sister’s depictions in legend - that full sister being Morgause. Basically, creators of modern retellings were like “omfg too many characters and the names of these two sound the same anyway, and people recognise morgan/morgana more than they do morgause… Splice them, Andy.”

If you had to pick, what is your favorite bl?

This is so hard because I am not a person who is good at being decisive and picking one thing as my favorite. I'd have to say in terms of current obsession, it's got to be My School President. However, overall, it's probably Manner of Death. But there's so many other good ones so it's so hard to narrow it down (for reference I think the lowest I've ever rated a drama i've seen in the past year and a half on mdl is 8 stars. I'm just one of those people who generally enjoys whatever I'm watching. Which is funny because like 5 years ago I was a super obnoxious pretentious film bro who only watched depressing movies that I hated). Arthur struggles to pick a favorite, and he may not have one. because every time he tries picking something, his list of favorites gets so long that it just kinda ceases to mean 'favorite' and starts being just a list of books he likes. but, the top of that list includes Beowulf, anything and everything by Shakespeare, and Tolkien. asking him for more than these top three is a bad idea because he'll never shut up.

Ivan's favorite author is Dostoevsky hands down. it's not even a contest. in particular he has a soft spot for The Idiot.

Alfred loves him some Edgar Allen Poe and has a love-hate relationship with the works of H. P. Lovecraft.

Francis is incredibly fond of old Medieval French works, but his favorite is La Chanson de Roland (Song of Roland). somewhat amusingly, he's just as into Arthurian romances as, well, Arthur. also can't forget about the Three Musketeers! and, of course, Le Petit Prince.

like Arthur, Herakles has such a stupidly long list of favorites that it kinda nullifies the word 'favorite.' unlike Arthur, he also has an even longer list of lost works that were among his favorites before, well, they were lost to history (his memory is only so good!). for works we still have, special mention goes to the Digenes Akritas, of course, and Song of Armouris. regarding specifically ancient literature, Homer is a given, but he also really, really loves Aristotle and Aeschylus.

i'm currently reading the wot books and i'm so sorry if you've already answered this but what's your favorite book in the series?

I REALLY love The Shadow Rising and Fires of Heaven. The Aiel arc is and will always be my favorite. Rand's arcs in there are just great as well as the intense lore that we get built up. I also really, really love the girls on the trail through Tanchico and the like.

But I really have a special place in my heart for Lord of Chaos. I love the buildup towards the climax of the book.

it should be noted that I do love all the characters and books (I don't believe in the slog but that's just me lol) but also I do look at my favorite books in the series through the frame of Rand's arcs because he's what gripped me from the beginning. SO !!!
