Oooh✨ do I, my friend!

There is the yona of the dawn au that I left a snippet for- Harry is the heir to the Kingdom and Tom Riddle, the contested Lord of Slytherin his betrothed. Yet, Albus Dumbledore, the current Lord of the kingdom never really agreed to this love match. One night Harry sneaks over to convince the old man of his love once again- only to see Tom kneeling next to the dead body of his mentor.

Much betrayal and angst and a wife-chasing story really.

And then there is one where Dursleys never got the baby Harry. No one knows what happened to him. But Lord Voldemort comes to know of a boy who has made Knockturn Alley his territory. He doesn't want the beasts to have their own leader.

But the boy turns out to be very interesting. Crueler than him, more soulless than the man who ripped away his own.

A story where LV is very happy to have a young prodigy of his own.

And, no- he doesn't know it is the boy-who-lived himself.

Squinting at the cheap shirts, every scrap of fabric appeared gaudier than the last and Oswald could barely contain his grimace as his fingers brushed over the rail to snatch up one of the offending items.

"I didn't know you liked to buy ethically. Is this the softer side of Oswald Cobblepot finally coming out to play?"

A short laugh, almost a squawk, escapes Ozzie as he hangs the shirt back where he plucked it from with clear disdain. Turning to face his partner, a smile splits his lips to expose sharpened teeth.

"I expect a certain level of quality that I don't think poor bastards who get paid a pittance are able to provide."

Checking for a sizing that wouldn't attempt to strangle his barrel-chest, Harvey's expression was fond.

"Tell the Gotham parole board that next time you get sent to Blackgate and they might cut you some slack."

"This has been a miserable shopping trip. I'm holding you responsible."

"You left our cases to be destroyed in that blasted fir-"

"Only because you lost your temper and tried to blow the guys brains out."

Grinning, Harvey dropped a heavy hand to Oswald's forearm as he indicated a nearby sign which hung over a dingy looking doorway.

"The changing rooms are unsupervised." He purred. "We could have some fun. Work out this tension."

"If you think, for a moment, that I'll let you lay a hand on me in those filthy changing rooms-"

"Okay, boss!" Harvey cut him off with a gruff chuckle. "Message read loud and clear."

As bad as the writing on st is I really thought that the intention behind Billy's line to max about Lucas was incredibly clear. We learn later that max living up to Neil's rulebook decides when Billy is abused. Neil doesn't take her misbehavior out on her yet. But Billy knows Neil's rules and consequences more than anyone. As much as Billy takes his anger and resentment out on her, I genuinely can't see that line as anything but a warning. Not about how black people are bad so you need to stay away from them. It's about how Neil is racist and Billy knows he's violent. Lucas and Max could be in physical danger if Neil found out about them. If Neil throws around the f slur you can't convince me he doesn't throw around the n word too. The line is so specific- there are some people in this world that you learn to stay away from. The given circumstances point directly to Neil as that teacher.

You could call it a headcanon but if I was playing Billy I would have come up with this backstory for him anyway. Lines like that imply history. It could be that Billy has had to listen to Neil's racist comments in general his whole life, or maybe he tried having black friends in California as a kid. Neil would have been furious and the lesson was probably punctuated with violence. (I find it even more interesting if the incident that brought them to Indiana involved Billy being caught with another boy. Maybe that boy was white, maybe he wasn't. It all makes for a more fleshed out story either way.)

So I genuinely don't think that Billy pushing Lucas against the wall was racially motivated. It is entirely valid for Lucas and the rest of the kids to have perceived it that way. I probably would too. So anyway, you're totally right. There's no way Neil knows who Lucas is, but I think Billy was very clearly trying to keep it that way for all of their sakes.

Sorry for the million word character analysis. I just think Billy is so interesting and he had so much potential if he was written better. One day I'm gonna shake dacres hand and thank him for loving Billy as much as we do.

(I deleted my story post because I delete everything nowadays, but I think you're right in that Billy was trying to stop Max x Lucas from happening before it could blow up into a real issue.)

But yeah, I've been really looking back on my life and realizing that the racial stuff in this show is so careless and really shows a lack of actual experience.

The thing that really gets my cylinders firing is that no one talks about Billy being the Oldest Sibling™ and Max being the Youngest Sibling™.

(For anyone who missed my story from last night, it was when my best friend had a crush on a Black boy and had to break up with him because she discovered her father and brother were a threat to him.)

But this brings me to my own brother, who had to learn racial stuff the hard way. That's what Oldest Siblings do, they face the world alone and get the worst of everything. My brother was making friends with two black boys in my grandparents' neighborhood, and as soon as my white, Christian/conservative grandmother got wind of it, she unveiled some really nasty character traits to my brother.

But not to me. I'm the baby of the family. I'm the precious baby girl (she/they) who could do no wrong (jokes on her because I've dated Black people lol).

Clearly, this entire issue isn't just racial, it's also sexist, because girls are treated differently than boys. That's a different rant entirely.

Billy Hargrove is such an accidental love letter to eldest siblings who get super messed up because of the adult figures in their life, and Max is the poster child for younger siblings who get to watch all the mistakes and promptly avoid them.

It infuriates me how this show manages to create very real and complex characters, only to then write the plot around them so carelessly and shitty.

Harry really is going through it right now huh. Another banger chapter truly. I was wondering how miserable is Harry going to get? Is he going to snap and try to do something foolish to stop feeling this way? Will Voldemort sense his horcrux’s emotions and intervene in any way shape or form?

Oh yeah.. this is the storm. I will be putting that baby through the wringer.

Ofc this is not about how horrific the nightmares can get. Harry is smart, maybe he will be upset in thr dreams but when he wakes up the choice is back to his hands. This is not me making him miserable.

This is me pushing him by and by to an abyss, pushing him to an isolation. The greatest treasure of our baby is his family and friends. The greatest pleasure of this author is to taint poison those things. Voldemort can take them away, but it won't break those bonds. Death will only fasten those memories.

Maybe he will snap, maybe he won't. That will be a bit of spoiler (sorry anon) .

And Voldemort, ofc he will be the knight riding in a white- er... flying in like a demented bat for the rescue. I have set up the stage for him, it will be really, really disappointing if our Dark Lord doesn't take the advantage. Horcrux or not, no one else will break Harry Potter.

I think I remember you mentioning previously that Crane pre-Witty girl didn’t actively seek out sex and didn’t care about going without it. If they were to break things off would Crane revert back to not craving it or would having had a consistent long-term sexual partner ruin things for him for a while and make him irritable? Hole-withdrawal?

He's very much an opportunist in that regard. He doesn't seek out hole but if hole becomes an option then he'll indulge if he's in the mood. That is technically how he and WG had their first encounter 👀💦

If his relationship with WG were to disappear then he would revert back to that attitude but there is a part of him that would miss the regular hole because it provides a nice release for him that he doesn't necessarily get from anything else.

25. Asking for a favorite quote is like asking for the right needle in a stack of needles, BUT...if I had to choose, I think I would say maybe "They are nice people, just not perfect people." I really feel like it's the thesis of the show. Also, I really love TK's proposal speech followed up by "Tyler, can I say yes now?"

39. My favorite headcanon: Oh wow...mm...I have so many. But I think my favorite is that TK doesn't like being called by his full name because calling TK "Tyler" made his dad flinch, and Owen has always called him TK. Additionally, Tyler Kennedy was reserved for times when he was in trouble with his mother, which is also not great. Carlos is allowed to full name him/use Tyler sparingly, only because Carlos's love for TK is like his mother's: strong, steady, constant.

Oh, other headcanon (it's the truth and we know it @typicaltk) is that Carlos Reyes is a Virgo. No I won't be taking questions. It's just facts.

67. I would kill for BOTH a Carlos Begins and a Mateo Begins style episodes. Here's why.

Carlos we know. We love. He's our sweet, slightly neruotic cop with a heart of gold who just loves completely and takes such responsibility for others onto his shoulders. I want to know more about him. I want him to know why he is the way he is.

AND I love our sweet, goofy Mateo. But there's a real fear of seperation with Mateo that keeps cropping up, starting in season 1 with the revelation that Owen has cancer, and continues through Marjan's fiance showing up. I think it's tied to him being a DREAMer and that his father is in Guadalajara.

And the reason I want both is because they're two very different stories of what it means to be Mexican-American in the USA. There's been a lot of talk about Carlos being Tejano which has become a term for all Mexican-decendant Texans, but was originally specifically referring to Texas families that were Mexican when it was Mexico and never left when the land was annexed by the USA. Which is a very different story and relationship to someone whose family came over illegally and had to deal with deportation. I would love for the show to play with this contrast and their relationships with their families and how it has turned Carlos and Mateo into the people they are with similar heratige, raised in the same place, but with two very different stories.
