Howl's Moving Castle! It just evokes such a feeling of nostalgia and contentment for me. I might watch it tonight tbh!

Hmmm I don't really have a lot of candles. Trying to change that. I think my favourite scent is something like vanilla.

13. what’s your comfort food?

Brigadeiro is like a staple comfort food in Brazil. 3 ingredients, easy to make, you can eat it hot and it's so good! But it's sweet. For actual food, probably pizza (either homemade or ordering in)

8. How did you discover Fellow Travelers?

Ashamed to admit but, via clips on TikTok🥹 it didn’t take a lot of convincing though, mid-century queer love stories are my JAM and this show hit literally ALL the right spots <3

9. What are your favourite headcanons?

Ok so I LOVE the idea that Tim got to live out all the little relationship things he wanted to do with Hawk, maybe during the 70s? Dancing, eating in a restaurant, going to the theatre. I just know in my heart that San Francisco gave him all of that

Oh and, I have a LOT about Bob (the little priest guy Tim had his first time with in university) but i won’t write them all here because it would be an endless scroll - I have maybe perhaps written a whole fic about them that I’m going to post soon though so💅

10. if the show had one more episode, what would it be about?

Hawk keeping Tim’s legacy going😤 Being true to himself, using his job to help activist causes, all that good shit. “You’re going to keep lying about yourself even after your dead” not anymore baby. New trauma new Hawk girls, this tragedy is finally gonna be what makes him break the cycle

11. What era did you like the most?(50s,60s,70s,80s)?

50s!!!! Not only because queer romances set during the 30s/40s/50s is my bread and butter and whatever else goes on bread BUT also because !!! Their happy little pillow talk moments GIRLS !!! Tim showing hawk his little family photo album. Tim’s little ‘It is I🤓’ when Hawk first rings him. How Roy Cohn was written/acted. Marcus pissing on that one man’s shoes in the Washington Post bathroom. MARY’S PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!. ‘I can’t bear being this happy.’ And then every single Hawk/Tim scene also as just a minor add on <3

1. What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out? Would you do it again?

I posted a lot of works under 1K words, which I've never really done in the past. It's been nice to write the small moments without having to make a big to-do about them. I'll probably keep doing them if the inspiration strikes!

8. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?

2. 5 favourites of your own work?

Oh this is difficult, and gonna be recent-creation focused, I believe.

So here is this one, which speaks for itself, I believe because I put a TON of work and detail into it and challenged myself to the maximum of my artistic abilities coming off of a pretty rough patch:

Then there is this one, my most recent pride and joy, where I most definitely outdid myself with painting and colour, and I still wonder if I really was the one who did it:

And I'm very proud of what I achieved with this Ciri (and 2/3 of my Ciri pose studies, really, I feel like I got that girl right in those witcher armour sets)

Also this was meant to be as a little something while I was waiting for a reply from one of my commissioners, but in the end I fell very much in love with the mood I managed to capture between these chracaters (and the angle of Din's helmet is a mystery to me, but I feel like I did get it right in the end!)

And the one I haven't posted because I'm too self conscious about it (mostly when I remember how silly and happy I felt when I finally gave in a drew it, int he hopes of getting this new obsession with The Mandalorian out of my system ^^; I wasn't very successful, obviously lol) It's from March, but I love it SOOO much. Also I stared at helmet details way too much for my own good, and still failed to work out certain little things X"D

11. Favorite comment you’ve ever recieved on your work?

The one I currently cherish the most is that someone's left an "it looks like concept art" (or the equivalent of this feeling) in a tag under that black and grey DinCobb work of mine - and that singlehandedly validated all my previous struggles and dreams I've never even dared to voice before. It was a really nice feeling, okay?

But getting HE!!! as a tag is also incredibly rewarding :D I love that :D

20. What works have you drawn fanart of?

I feel like this is a trick question, and I'm doomed to get the answer wrong ^^; Are we talking fics I've drawn fanart of? Because that's quite a list in itself (since they are my major source of inspiration), or are we talking shows and movies and books? Or paintings?

There is the above showcased one for Lessons in Idle Ecstasies with Cobb and his red scarf (space cowboys in an actual Western setting, heck yeah! I did not expect I'd get so into it, but here we are)

This one with Eskel and Geralt for Ubi Vedymin Ibi Domus I swear I'm going to finish one of these day!

And this vampire-witcher sandwich for Fact and Fantasy I love dearly still - and with this I think I've covered all my recent interests, unfairly not mentioning any of the drawings I did for @traumschwinge (<3) or various big bangs, or that one pre-wedding emralt sketch I did for you ^^;

The sad thing about my very extroverted and helpful lil peace cleric is that they never really had a true friend <333 They help a lot of people wherever they can but they don't have anyone close in their life.

i have so many answers, so i wont say this is my favorite, but i love love love wicked game by chris isaak. the line "the world was on fire and no-one could save me but you...i'd never dreamed i'd meet somebody like you / and i'd never dreamed that i'd lose someone like you / no, i don't wanna fall in love" but also "what a wicked way to say, you never felt this way"...jesus.

like, oof. its a great s5 apocalypse vibe and the emphasis on not wanting to feel this way, but still feeling so intensely. i can't explain it. the song is just so s5 byler.

i'm also gonna plug my s5 spec playlist the right-side up, which is my take on s5 and songs i'd like to see in the soundtrack! some are byler, some are just gen vibes 😎

11. What work took you the longest to write?

I had to think on this one because so many of my drafts are usually left alone for a long time before I revisit them and finally polish them off.

But from the works I shared this year, I think it has to be as the leaves are changing. This one actually went through a lot of versions, one with a bigger MJ presence, another with Foggy making an appearance, and another with the ending having a different setting.

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

Not gonna lie, I think this is why it took me so long to answer this ask hahaha. I went through this year's works and really didn't know what to think. I liked them all for very different reasons but I don't know why none really stood out.

I'll have to say by my own hand because I really do like the idea behind this narrative. There's also just so much packed into it that I personally love to read, from George Barnes being a father figure to Steve to WS!Steve in a roundabout way.

17. favourite character you wrote this year?

probably connor mckinley. writing wddl has been a ride. connor is such a fun and interesting character (im delusional) to write and i cant wait to write more wddl. i got a lot of enjoyment writing through kevin and arnold's pov in kevin's guide. since that fic has been more lighthearted so far its been silly.

18. character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

i would say trina from falsettos. not that she's hard to write, but trina is very complex in her feelings and how she portrays them throughout the story and writing her was a blast. there were a few lines i did with her in holding to the ground that i am very proud of. the other reason she was a bit tougher is that i was worrying all throughout me writing because the falsettos fandom is, one, a teeny bit scary sometimes and i dont want to mischaracterize someone and become hated, and two, there are already so many terrible falsettos fics i didnt want to contribute.

30. biggest surprise while writing this year?

oh this is a tricky one! i wrote something i never thought i would write, swore up and down i never would. i ALSO took another step out of what i usually write with kevin's guide, which is a crack/comedy vampire au and satire on shitty vampire stories like twilight (where all the vampires are hot, edgy teenagers) and my best friend is a vampire (where the protagonist gets turned into a vampire and has the time of his life sipping on juice boxes of pigs blood). the only other bigger surprise i can think of is the fact i didnt finish my first big fic this year. hyperfixations change.

Tell me about 5 of your tumblr crushes and why they’re so amazing to you.

Also, what kind of books do you like to read? Romance? Mystery? And do you have a book you love recommending to people?

to be completely honest i don't really understand the concept of a tumblr crush BUT if this is an opportunity to brag about how amazing my friends are i will happily oblige! i will endeavor to limit myself to only 5 people, and for those of you reading this whom i did NOT mention my sincere apologies and please know that i love you anyway. i am going to list them below a cut and put my book recs first just so this post isn't fifty miles long lol.

let's talk books! i will read just about anything i can get my hands on, but my favorite genres are urban fantasy, mystery, and historical. i don't read a lot of contemporary books that are only romance with nothing else, but i love jane austen and shakespeare. i also ADORE genre-melding, eg the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle by stuart turton, which is a sci-fi 1920s murder mystery.

my top 7 favorite books of all time- i originally was going to do five but realized i also would recommend 6 and 7 to literally everyone i know- which i would absolutely recommend to everyone, are:

the book thief by markus zusak (historical; coming-of-age of a german girl during wwii as her foster family hides a jewish man in their basement. this book should make you SOB)

the sweetness at the bottom of the pie by alan bradley (historical mystery; 11-year-old aspiring chemist solves murders in 1950s england)

murder on the orient express by agatha christie (historical mystery; a passenger is found dead on a snow-trapped train. basic premise but i am not exaggerating when i say that this book reinvented the murder mystery genre)

six of crows by leigh bardugo (high fantasy heist; six teenagers are recruited to break a chemist out of prison in order to stop- or maybe start- a magical war)

if we were villains by ml rio (mystery; a shakespeare student at a performing arts conservatory is found dead and his classmates try to decide if they want his killer to be caught)

code name verity by elizabeth wein (historical; a spy and a pilot during wwii are sent on a mission that only one returns from. holy SHIT this book is plot-twisty)

good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchett (urban fantasy; an angel and a demon team up to stop the 11yo antichrist from starting armaggedon)

@tellthemhowihope NINA MY SCIENCE SISTER MY RECENT OVERGRAD LIGHT OF MY LIFE!!! nina is one of the sweetest funniest and most brilliant people i know (she is a scientist!!!) and it always makes my day to exchange doctor who memes, cute animal pictures, and souffle recipes with her. throwback to the time she cut off a foot of her hair on impulse and one of our mutual mutuals thought she cut off her foot... the good old days...

@wespers aka tuser weepers... jamie is one of my oldest mutuals and i am so so grateful she's in my life! she has the market cornered on beautiful pale gifsets, is my go-to for book recs, has excellent opinions on just about everything, and actually gets around to consume all the content i bully her into consuming (see: knives out, hadestown, the book thief...). ily jamie you're not beating the theatre kid allegations any time soon. i am also planning to think of something else to bully you into reading/watching/listening to shortly. what about into the woods have you listened to into the woods before. or little shop of horrors. i think you'd vibe with both of them.

@gracelcdomas is another very old and dear friend and is my murdoch mysteries and knives out buddy for LIFE. milo is one of the most upbeat people i know, and i love chatting to them about just about anything. also am ETERNALLY grateful that they will always send me an ask if i rb an ask game. get yourself friends who will enable you to rant about yourself for fun online.

@jewish-mulder- hi anna! a relatively more recent mutual of mine but one who can always be counted on to have the most correct x-files opinions, and is also a very talented screenwriter! i hope my incoherent x-files liveblog as i watch the show for the first time brings them joy, because i always love reading their little replies to my comments.

and last but certainly not least @anakinskyiwalker, who might actually be my very first mutual? ashlyn has always been such a constant and kind presence in my fandom experience and i adore her to bits.

god I'm so fucking furious at the removal of Te Reo Māori names from organisations around Aotearoa. it's a complete non-issue, every organisation has the English name directly underneath the Māori name. I have never once as an English speaker been unable to understand what an organisation is for. Winston Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is literally Māori himself, said “Te Papa is a historic name but tell me this waka kotahi, how many boats have you seen going down the road?”. Waka does not just mean canoe. it means vessel, and waka kotahi (the transport agency of Aotearoa) explains this VERY SIMPLY on their official website. waka kotahi means to travel together as one. Can you see how fucking upsetting this is. A Māori person in power who is in agreement about banning his own language, being so cocky about something that he does not even understand due to the suppression of the language of his people. It makes me sick. I've seen reports from Māori people all over Aotearoa speaking out about how upset and furious they are, how decades of progress have been undone in the fight to restore the rights of their people who have for so long been oppressed and have suffered the effects of colonisation. Please share this if you can, I hate knowing how few people will hear about this, I know there is so much injustice in the world right now and it is so exhausting, I know. I love you all, keep it up.
