Okay, okay, I'm not sure how many people who look at my posts regularly have been here since October 4th, but if you remember this post, I sort of implied at the end that it was AU planning. SO.

I am here to share some concepts for my Storm Polycule AU, named such because I wanted to make an AU where Nya and Jay become the same species as Benthomaar and they end up in a polycule. Merlopia gets 2 kings and a queen. Basically, what if Water and Lightning were Wojira's elements instead of Water and Wind, and both masters of those respective elements had to merge with the sea to defeat Wojira?

So first and foremost, and as mentioned before, the elements of Lightning and Wind swap places (so Wind becomes an element of creation, Lightning becomes one of Wojira's elements). Wojira is powerful enough that both Jay and Nya have to merge with the sea in order for her to be subdued.

Unlike in canon, merging with the sea won't cause you to lose yourself. Instead, merging with the sea turns you into the same species Bentho is. While merging with the sea will grant the individual who merged with it and any of their offspring amphibious survival, it is limited, and as a result members of Bentho's species must return to water on a regular basis. They can survive with no issue for a maximum of 48 hours out of water, and while they won't die if they don't get to water, they will end up sick.

Bentho is a direct descendant of Nyad and the first Elemental Master of Lightning, but has no relation to Nya or Jay. This is why Bentho and Nyad look as similar as they do. Prior to merging with the sea, Nyad looked more like the Merlopian citizens.

Nya's facial markings are a lot like Bentho's, but with a more pronounced wave shape. Jay's look like lightning bolts.
