In Canada, I was raised from birth to be a warrior. My ancestors clashed in battle after battle, drawing blood to retrieve the best deals on home electronics and occasionally near-expiry panettone. Like my grandfather said on the first day he put a charge card in my hand, I was born to win at Boxing Day.

Perhaps you live in a country that does not have Boxing Day, or maybe you call it something else. If this is the case, I would like you to imagine going to the stores and finding a good discount. Traditionally, before the Americans came with their blackened Fridays and good-deal Aprils, going into combat on this day is how we would be able to afford a six-CD changer.

It was always the same sequence. Get up at the crack of dawn with the surviving family members. Drive to the asshole end of the city, after determining which of the stores are likely to have the least attendance and competition for the deal you want. Wait in line in the December morn for more than an hour, eyeing anyone who tries to cut in line. The doors open. There is blood. So much blood. And then, maybe if you were pure of heart and fleet of foot, a deal.

Things have changed now. The internet came from the heavens. The clouds above us sing of algorithmically determined deals that are determined computationally to be the exact discount that will trigger us to buy. 19% off? We scoff. 18.35% off with a free cookie? Some part of our protosimian neurological architecture jams its foot on the gas pedal and won't let go until we've destroyed one entire Bank of Montreal Platinum Reserve® Optimax® MasterCard® in exchange for something we don't need that might arrive at our home late next week by a hungover Purolator employee. There is no honour in this.

Which is why we're going to try out a new thing this year. The mall near us has been empty for decades, except for a short period of time where the CBC filmed a docudrama set in the 1990s there. What we're gonna do is set a bunch of Amazon gift cards down on the floor and let some folks my age kick the absolute shit out of each other in exchange for a chance to buy them for greater than the listed face value. It's gonna be just like the old days. I hope to see you there.

I just started at a new job today and bestie i am so _lost_ and everything is scary,, this is giving me such a new and profound appreciation of Tom taking Greg under his wing and showing him the ropes and taking care of him! Sure he's weird and intense about it but I'm sure part of Greg felt really grateful and just like,, safe because he had Tom from the beginning? 🥺🥺

oh yeah for Sure like i still remember when i started my very first [and only, lol] job back in the day and how it was scary and lost and unsure i felt and like outcast? you get used to it and it becomes second nature, but definitely at first it's hard so, i do hope that it becomes easier for you and that someone will help you/you'll settle in quickly! it'll be okay <3

and oh yeah absolutely i mean i think that is one of the reasons greg likes tom, among others. like he recognises that and appreciates it, and on top of that we have to remember people don't usually look out for him like that. if he's ever given anything it's always with terms and conditions or an expiry date. tom asks for very little in return, really, like when he ropes greg into corporate crime it's his own fear and clinging to greg, it's not because he requires it in exchange for his care of him. i mean when it comes to prison, tom outright says greg does not need to give him anything in exchange for giving up possibly literal years of his life for him, even though greg offers it. so, it means extra that tom makes the promise to take care of him and then keeps it.

and, they are each other's safe space, so. (:

I am gonna talk about what happened to me a bit ago during a few sessions.

The main reason I decided to talk about this openly is in hopes of this being a warning to epople sessioning to be more careful, aswell as maybe finding people with similar expiriences in hopes of being able to work through this.

I won't be naming anyone involved and I ask everyone to read this to not harrass or message anyone about this.

This is not a call out post, but instead me sharing something that has heavily inpacted me ever since it happened. I want this to serve as a reminder that even with friends session safety is important. Please keep that in mind before reading any further.

A bit ago I met up with some friends from the community, we had been talking for a while and where thinking about sessioning together. There were several conversations about teasing and boundaries long before the meetup, so I went into it thinking everyone was aware of boundaries etc.

I shouldn't have done that, I should have made sure to have another conversation beforehand but due to the previous conversation and just the amount of time we had known each other I assumed everyone was in the clear about everything.

Which again was a massive oversight on my part. I should have made sure there was a conversation beforehand.

There was no realy start or anything to the session, things just kinda turned into a playful ticklefight.

And things were okay for a bit, but then the ler went for the spot where the leg and lower part of the hip/genital area connect, due to the way everyone was placed the thumb was placed on the spot while the hand was placed between my legs and due to squirming the hand tocuhed my private parts.

Which is when I spoke up the first time about being uncomfortable to be touched in the area gesturing with my hand to the general area around my private parts.

Everyone nodded and things kinda went on. I assumed everyone understood the boundary bc I assumed people involved remembered past conversations about no no spots. But again I should have made sure that everyone did indeed understood what I meant.

So when a day or two later the next ticklefight happened the ler went for the same spot again and again due to squirmingtheir hand touched my private parts. So I put the boundary down again and again everyone agreed and things went on.

This circle repeated two more times when another person involved also decided to speak out and things were completely shut down with the person who overstepped that boundary.

All in all I let this happen 4 times until someone else stepped in for me.

I reached out to them a while later, explaning why this was really hard and triggering and I started genuinly struggeling mentally. They apologized and explained why they didn't completely understood what my boundary meant but also why due to private reasons they didn't have the energy to seek out conversation for clarification after the session was over.

I absolutely should have made sure after the session was over that there was a conversation about this. I don't know why I didn't seek a conversation after the session was over, I just assumed that everyone understood, so I didn't think to have an extra conversation.

At the end of the day I should have made sure all boundaries were set and understood, but I was so looking forward the tickling that I didn't really think about having a conversation to bring old boundaries back up just in case.

I have been dealing with the consequences, due to bad expiriences in the past old triggers came back up and I have just been trying to work through them and go on with my life. It's been incredebly hard in the first few months but things are slowly getting a bit better.

My main advice to everyone doing sessions with friends out there:

Please please make sure to have a conversationa bout boundaries before you dive into the action. We are all people and due to different reasons might not remember old conversations properly. And if you have to set a boundary during a session make sure that everyone understands it in a conversation afterwards.

I am trying to move on and just go back to normal, but it's... hard. Some days tickling triggers me, I am scared some days to get back into teasing with my friends bc I get randomly triggered by this. Ijust want to get back to feeling normal.

I know everyone is predicting stuff for GMMTV P2 but the majority of my "predictions" (that are probably a little tin-foil hat coded) are not from that.

Do not get me wrong I enjoy GMMTV BLs. But I am honestly not as exited about new stuff from them. Once we have it I will probably enjoy most of them (unleass they fuck up in a major way again). But I can't build enough anticipations for any of it (especially since what I really want is never going to happen).

My non GMMTV BL prediction of this year and early 2025 are as follows:

CHANGE 2561 would be very very stupid to not capitalized on how much the cast of Pit Babe is close to each other and is able to create "shippable" content with non "official" ships. Also they did a bit of BL history already with Pit Babe, and I think they can do more by announcing some projects that break up the official pairs after the next one (the long bean one)

FoureverYou is not filming, that leads me to believe that the Vampire Project might not be the only project they are shopping around for. Despite the fact they are doing promo photoshoots and have all the cast ready and they did the blessing event thing (sorry I am not sure how to call it at this time) there has been no filming. Half the cast is still being managed by Wabi Sabi despite the fact that they are obviously not looking to do that anymore. SO THEORY: This is also getting shopped around. I don't think that GMMTV is getting this one, because of how fast the part 2 is coming up now. But another studio might be getting, along with the rest of the Wabi Sabi actors that are not GMMTV and don't want to go indipendent.

Barcode being at all the promotional stuff with Ta (and Copper) makes me think they might be testing the water. JeffBarcode have Wuju Bakery but then nothing, and Copper is leaving soon, so no pairing with Ta is able to happen. They might be testing the waters to eventually pair Ta and Barcode as leads in a BL ---- I am not saying I 100% want this, I would be ok with them not having a pair braind. But BOC is short on bankable pairs. So far they have one. BibleJes is getting tested with 4 Minutes and all the other boys don't have a set pairing. A third pair for them would help them a lot.

---- CONTROVERSIAL THEORY UP HEAD (It's about Mame - putting under the read more so you don't have to engage with it If you don't want)

I am not saying you have to agree - I am not even saying I am correct - I am speculating only. This thoughts are colored by my expirience and I can only speak for myself.

The BossNouel Mame series (the one that is based off the Minor Side Couple in TharnType s2 - the neighboors with the jealous boyfriend and the younger uni guy) is not going to happen. Hear me out, not only did Nouel just cut his hair in a way that would totally clash with how the character he is supposed to play looks like. It would also be very bad for them. I have recently re-watched TharnType and it appears obvious to me (although again I might be wrong - this is just my opinion) that this ship is basically less bratty Rain and less bad boy Phayu. They are basically the same dynamic at their core. And if BossNoeul does this, they will get typecasted all the way to hell.

That is what killed OhmFluke (UWMA) and it is absolutely still hurting their job prospers even now. Fluke as expressed already that he wished to do a Mafia style BL, something where he played a criminal, but he is not getting that.

I think BossNouel should not play a dynamic that is so similar to their first one.

I know I don't know these people and I am just speculating, but that haircut is not something a naive and innocent babyfied character like the one is supposed to play should have. Love Sea finished filiming. They should be working on the BossNouel series soon. So why cut his hair now?

Plus Mame re-realesing TharnType and Don't Say No on YouTube full episodes and all, might have been a way to get people to recall the characters BossNouel are supposed to play, their are supposed to play in that universe.

That is why the series got re-released (I am guessing) which means they expect to shoot relatively soon. So again, why cut his hair in a way that that character wouldn't have. Because as it stands they would have to use a wig on him.

Unleass they are doing something very very different in which case why dragged the TharnType characters back, or they are not doing that anymore.

I don't know. I might be wrong.

Btw is it only me who's not at all surprised by this breakup ? I absolutely saw this coming for various reasons lol

1. Jennie isn't gonna wait for 1.5 years... and that too for a mid guy (I'm not talking about looks before someome jumps) she's young, rich and famous who travels a lot and got a ton of options to just wait for a guy who doesn't even have guts to confirm their relationship.

2. Majority of kpop idol × idol relationship lasts for few months- 2 years. 2 years is like their expiry date lol. I've seen ex idols saying after they date same guy for 2 years they get bored and as they got so many options they'll breakup with them before they'll cheat lol

3. I'm honestly so surprised they dated for this long... because from both of their dating history I know they don't even date the same person this long

4. He obviously don't wanna marry her, if he wanted.. if he treasured that woman so much he would've prioritized her like a real man and claimed her publicly lol. So he doesn't want her to wait for him even if she was ready to wait. He's not good but maybe he's not asshole for giving false promise to her.

5. They both want to get married and have kids in future but both of them aren't ready anywhere within 10 years. Tae is too coward for that and Jennie wants to explore lot more career wise. But then they don't wanna date the same person for that long too because they aren't each others person.

6. Tae wants a girl who'll be typical Asian housewife... someone who take care of him like her son, treat him like God and never hurts his ego whole Jennie is opposite of these lol. She's too big and successful to be just another ex idol housewife.

7. I saw few jkkrs saying they thought they'll get married be fr... we call him coward for a reason so he's definitely not gonna marry her lol

Winx S1 Rambles

Yep, I'm doing this again but with Season one this time cause it has been far too long since I've watched this era of the show plus @yantarnii promised some gold frames which should be fun. Now full disclosure I'm watching the 4kids dub as I've never watched this dub and I wanted to expirience it since some people seem to like it, so if I refer to a line that isn't in the dub your familar with, that's why. I'll only be doing the first episode for now, as a bit of a teaser till I can really get into it and such.

Starting off with a positive of the dub, the intros got a cool song, while the CONSTANT "We are the winx" get's old the sequence referring to each girl is cool "Magical Flowers, Digital Powers, Rhythms and Tunes, The Sun and The Moon, Keep on searching far and wide for the Fire burning deep inside" I like stuff like that, though the lack of Aisha is already making itself known unfortunately. This is gonna be so weird. :(

I know I'm not the only one to note this but Gardenia looks so much more unique in the first three seasons, a ton of warm greens and yellows, make it feel like, well a garden. It's cool.

Okay three things here, Kiko looks completely fine despite being terrified seconds prior, and Bloom brings her suddenly complete apple with her despite biting into it instead of putting it in her now empty bike basket. Good to see inconsistency was pretty common already

Not Stella making her debut by kicking a demon across a clearing, again OG Stella was so cool.

Also is it just me or were the winx more powerful in their base forms then they are after Enchantix, Stella clears half a dozen monsters in one spell and I'd love to see Sirenix do that and such.

Buff Kiko, that is all I will say.

Bloom is both floating and on the ground at the same, it's hard to see with all the light but it's there.

Bloom hitting the imp so hard it literally dissappears is hillarious but honestly this kinda makes me want the Winx to have some more physichal weaponry, it would avoid all the spamming of energy blasts we get in later seasons.

Stella already has her scepter, Maybe a sword for Bloom, classic fairytale and all. Not sure if Flora or Aisha for a whip, both could work. Musa could have like one of those harp bows that she also plays for spells and stuff. No idea for Tecna though, maybe like an arm blade? Idk I'd love to hear any ideas you may have in replies tho.

The lighting of this season is beautiful btw.

Either Blooms hair is absolutely sopping wet or she needs to get a new robe, there are drops going through her hood.

Oh right Mitzy. Who fun fact voices her, Icy, Musa AND Digit in season 2. Girl got range.

Oh and then the Hunter Troll, with a... very uncomfortable looking design. Who approved this, I know he's a monster and all but he's somewhat humanoid so this design still makes me feel weird everytime he's on screen, just give him pants or overalls like Knut has.

Is it gay to call the scantilly clad girl you met in the woods just yesterday amazing? Sorry but how Bloom is with Stella feels like a crush to me XP

*Cue Mario 64 level enter sound* But seriously, Where did these kinda portals go? Like seriously just make sure every winx has a copy and the Omega Dimension incident would have been a slight hiccup rather then us thinking Tecna was full on dead! if you have portals in your universe, just use them smartly, please. Also Bloom isn't even looking at her XP

I forgot how OG red fountaion looked, looks nice, fits in a lot better with the other schools.

Brandon would scream, but he has no mouth, and neither does Sky I think. Also I will be saying there real names throughout this despite the whole ruse they have going on.

Cloud Tower! Still the only school i'd probably attend. it's purple, how can i not love it.

Cannot wait for these queens to be threatening again, also these outfits slay, even if I would never wear them.

I did not appreciate Magic Winx my first go around, but it is gorgeous, still beats Sirenix, fight me.

Again on the "The Winx and Specialists cannot keep track of anything useful" What happened to Riven's... rope? I don't know what to call it but I like it. Would have been handy if he kept it. Also Sky's sheild, maybe you wouldn't have gotten amnesia if you had a good way to block attacks princey.

Not much to say, just thought this was pretty.

Went to SGCC a couple of days ago, and broke out my lazy Tseng cosplay. Lazy because it’s basically me throwing on a suit, tying my hair back, and putting on some eyeliner and a smirk. This one was a little less lazy than usual though because I needed a new shirt, and for some reason, it is actually really fucking difficult to find a plain white collared long sleeved shirt that is sized for skinny women. Ended up buying the smallest men’s shirt I could find, and then improvising some terrible sleeve garters out of velcro cable ties from Daiso. I also discovered on the day itself that my contact lenses were a year past expiry date, so Tseng ended up wearing glasses for a bit until he could get new lenses =P

I found a Reno and an Elena and promptly spoiled the picture with my derp face. I also found an amazing honeybee Cloud. There was a Tifa too, but she walked off before I could work up the courage to ask for a pic.

While I was heading to the main stage to take a look at the cosplay competition, I found a Hythlodaeus (FF14)! This was a very funny moment because I walked by, we looked at each other, did a simultaneous little gasp, and

Milo: I need to get a picture with you because my friend loves Tseng! Me: I was gonna ask for a picture with YOU cos I love Hythlodaeus!!!

Also, I follow Johanirae (the friend) on tumblr so I am absolutely delighted 💖

I ended the day with a lot of pokemon art. All the prints+stickers by @kelvin_trainerk, Lugia poster by @_RubyArt, Azem stone omamori by @saltska. Also a PangHu and Baby blind box cos I couldn't resist XD

Neurodegeneration

Skully up there might be nice and empty on his top floor, but us, we're occupied by a wet, squishy glob of some proteins, fat, salts and water, dying as we live on.

I shall elaborate.

Neurodegeneration is one of the most complex, undefinable phenomenon in neuroscience and scientists are always scrambling like moths to a light source whenever a new one surfaces. The general idea is that degeneration of neurons, equals neurodegeneration.

Degenerating neurons dysfunction first. This does not mean degeneration refers to a neurons losing its function, no. Degeneration could be a structural or functional loss on the cell's part. The only way we have insight into cellular damage of this kind is the overt symptoms it results into, which is usually disruption, then loss of function.

Depending upon the location of their cell bodies and synapses they've formed, functions impair as neurons go on with the damage. Like geographical terrains, researchers have chunked the brain into lobes for convenient navigating. Each lobe has its own signature function profiled in human behavior. Each sensation can solidly claim corresponding areas of our cortex. Unlike sensations, memory seems to me a bunch of really dissimilar ghosts, some haunting a close-knit network repeatedly, others splitting itself up to send each bit where it belongs.

When neurons in the visual cortex degenerate(occipital lobe), vision is first bothersome, then impaired, and eventually lost. This is the case of irreversible neural damage to the visual cortex, the part that turns electromagnetic light waves into a hallucination of the world we live in. Memory losses resulting from neurodegeneration are a tad multiplex. While hippocampus is responsible for processing episodic memory and indexing it for later use, it does not physically hold all your life's information there. The cortex is rich with both semantic and episodic memories, but it is not the absolute location. Certain nuclei embedded in white matter also play their part.

Some natural causes of neurodegeneration are concussions and certain edible substances, which might damage neurons but these will not whip up entire symptoms of their own and recovery is possible. Age, however, another natural cause of neurodegeneration, brings with itself a plethora of controversial musings, if you may.

Neurodegenerative diseases are events that include dysfunction or death of neural tissue, that normally accompany age, making them trickiest to study. Mind you, aging is natural and inevitable. The brain is also the body, thus has an expiry date, which is bound to arrive. Natural progression of age is slow loss of memory, and even as the body gives away the individual, at the time of their demise, take most memories with them. They recognize their family members, friends and hometown; they remember the recent years of their lives; their speech is intact; and so on.

Neurodegenerative diseases on the other hand, deprive the individual of the most basic functions such as speaking, walking, feeding themselves. Their memories, the memories essential for successfully carrying out daily life, such as their loved ones' names, streets of their town, how to use a TV remote, etc. all diminish one-by-one. As the damage gets severe, they stop walking, chewing, etc. and need a caretaker's assistance for 100% of their functioning. These are the overt symptoms. The symptoms, that are supposed to indicate illness, end up taking the patient's life before we could realize or even diagnose the progression.

Neurons are resilient. In fact, they are the kind of cells that will keep functioning despite considerable damage, just to keep the show going. Although not singularly, protein aggregates are highest bet on causes of neurodegenerative diseases. These protein aggregates start of as an abnormal monomer with sticky ends that make hooking on of other monomers very easy. Monomers become slightly larger oligomers, and eventually aggregates. These abnormal monomers, empirical evidence shows, sometimes an effect of problematic genetic variants. Monomers could also get altered due to adverse cell conditions, in stress, inflammation, hypoxia, etc.

Interestingly, normal monomers in healthy individuals and those prone to disease show effects beneficial to growth of neural tissue. Neurons themselves, being so versatile and enduring, can even compensate the loss of certain functions in the brain. If a synaptic connection is unhealthy or abnormal, the neuron might even disconnect its axon from the corresponding area. The neurons put up a fight so long and constrained, that symptoms do not become overt until all of the neurons have exhausted themselves. This process is excruciatingly slow, and the person has most likely reached old age. However, there are certain diseases that are just as likely to occur in the adult or even younger demographic.

This general rant about neurodegeneration was to explain both my fascination and agitation by it. Fascinated, because of how hard this weird semi-slime of an organ fights to keep us alive and functioning. Specific agents can hijack this resilience and get a free-ride to rendering a healthy human dysfunctional, while we watch with no cure at our disposal.

Lonely Aisles

Midnight at a grocery store, walking a mile in rusted shoes, finding angels in lonely aisles.

Modern AU. Pansy’s an ex cult member and Harry’s a war veteran.

Inspired by this amazing quote from “things i want to ask you” by Helga Floros.

“i always cry when i grocery shop. lingering in the produce aisle, turning every fruit over in my hands to find the ones unmarked. i want to ask you if you can love damaged goods. i want to ask you if you’re scared of your father.”

The gummy bears inside the packets look absolutely inviting. Ruby red, berry pink, ocean blue little figures stashed up against each other. Pansy tilts her head, inspects the little indentations on the figures, counts the number of colors in her head. Six in total, she picks up the packet to turn it back. Thirty gummy bears in total. Five in each color. But Pansy turns the packet again and counts—the insipid, lonely voice in her head tusks with each number—one, two, three, four, five, six. Six pink gummy bears, a neon, wildberry pink. She purses her lips, wonders about the missing color, returning the bundle to the shelf. Her hands are steady, at this moment. She can’t bet about the next, and the next and the hundred ones after them.

She picks up another packet and drops it almost instantly as a man slides beside her.

“Hey,” he says, and she gasps. Lets go off the candies. Trembles.

She turns back, heart rate picking up, stumbling, gasping in itself as she sees him. And she can’t say if it feels like a surprise or a premonition. Exhilarating or exasperating. Both. Maybe, both.

He bends down to pick it up. “I’m sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s OK.” She takes the package, places it back on the shelf.

A TIGHT SPOT - Secondary Role for Film Workshop

DESIGN PROCESS!!

The JollyBar!

Originally, when the name was ‘Scolly!’ I worked with using the colour palette to make the bar fit more with the films aesthetic - as seen below.

I would’ve had more information under the text but to be honest I really didn’t like this which is why I stopped working on it. The green and yellow just seemed fake and, even though it would match with the colour scheme, just felt bland and boring. Obviously this isn’t what I was going for as most chocolate brands are much bolder than this.

That’s when I decided on the yellow, red and blue colour palette as this was much more striking and classic. We’d also voted for the name JollyBar so I started working on my second mock-up, drawing out the text in an easily readable font before thinking about the details such as the chocolate company’s name + the type of chocolate bar.

Here is my second sketch!

Already, I was SO much happier with this, I just thought the colours worked really well together and looked like it would fit in perfectly at a corner shop!! I shows the Director and he was really really happy with the design too. This meant I was able to figure out the logistics of actually making it next! (Talked about in my next post).

Gribbons!

The Gribbons packet was much more of a task as I had no idea where to start. My initial sketch was pretty poor looking back now, but hey! I had to start somewhere.

So this was it… I was more experimenting with the design of the packet and trying to figure out where the text would be but it just didn’t look realistic at ALL. I liked the circles and kept them through to my final design, but I’m honestly a bit embarrassed looking back at this design. It was all a learning process for me and this was the first step I had to take to get to my final result which I am really happy with.

I knew where I wanted to go after this design and started sketching up my second attempt. More focus on font choices and adding more dimension to the background to make the condom packet feel more real. I also added a bit more text to see how that fit on the packet.

Here was my second attempt!

I was already a lot happier with this attempt. I changed the colouring slightly to feel more vibrant and stand out against each other as a lot of the condom packets I researched had more of a contrast to them. I also decided to make the text thinner, adding a much more sleek effect to the whole thing. This was still a work in progress but I could tell this was the direction I was heading in, showing the Director to see what he thought before doing anything more. He absolutely loved them!! And said he was completely happy with me to finish them off however I wanted to, and I got to work straight away.

So here is the final result.

Wow! I was just over the moon with how they turned out :) the addition of the bokeh effect to the green highlights in the background just pulled everything together and made the box look much more realistic. All of the contents on the side I also drew and came up with myself, keeping the font similar over the entire packaging. The instructions on the back I got off the internet as I knew we needed text on the back but there wasn’t going to be a close up of it.

I researched an ingredient list for condoms, added an expiry date and best before date to make the whole thing seem more realistic too.

The smaller details I added really pulled everything together and just made the box seem real to me. I was unbelievably happy with the work I put into it and it clearly showed in my final design.

Luca also asked if I could make a few different variations of the condom packets just to have next to the king size. I of course said yes and got to work on them too

Here’s the final designs for my alternate packets. I changed small information like the size and sides, everything else I kept pretty much the exact same as I knew these wouldn’t have a close up in the film.

I’m so happy with the variations I made too, the colour palettes all working well together and by themselves, and matching the aesthetic of generic condom packets.
