I DID THE THING!! I hate drawing The Demagogue, both because he's an awful garbage trashman, and I went and made his design/costumes so stupidly ornate X)
Fun fact: Metamorph is still around but with a different design in Parallels (I also wanted to hearken back to my Bruce Timm style days with the pic of her here, hence the more stylized approach)!

5, 18, 19, 26!
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?
Probably Ariadne?? She's got a really fun sense of style, and I love drawing all her outfits and hairdos. She's also the sort of heroine that I like seeing that doesn't compromise her femininity while also being a leader, and we need more of that tbh 😌
18. Any OC crackships?
The Demagogue and Xi. Let's just say it's a good thing that there's a couple hundred years separating their stories, otherwise they'd get together and burn the galaxy down 8'D
19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)
Lon started out as a very VERY side character in the WIP before I started to get to know him more, and entwined his story and goals with the main cast; he's more of a main character now because of that. He's pretty important to me since he's one of my most relatable characters--at least for myself!--who struggles with feelings of inadequacy and helplessness that can make him spiral if he doesn’t talk it out with people who care about him...which is true for me too :')
Tumblr media
26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?
Probably Taran/Tau, at least when I was redesigning the old character I was basing him off of! He was looking too much like a Corvan sibling at first, so I had to change his hair color from dark to copper. I was on the fence at first, but it's grown on me since! (initial design below, before I took the volume away from his hair too and nixed the scar LOL)

There needs to be a national level discussion about eviction and not one with millionaire politicians putting their two cents in. I’m not justifying some gun nut shooting it out with law enforcement by any means but if this were handled differently lives could have been saved. Forcibly making someone homeless is one of the top ten most traumatic things that can happen and people are going to resist it. If it was indeed just unpaid taxes then other less severe measures could have been taken. Community leaders, social workers, and activists could step in and help plan a course of action. Sending armed officers in to every conceivable social situation needs to stop. The guy probably owed thousands while billionaires who owe hundreds of millions never have law enforcement sent after them.
Further, the push by Republicans to evict everyone immediately needs to stop as does their relentless drive to criminalize the unhoused. Nobody wants to be homeless. Decades of tough guy bully talk from right wing Fox News, conservative talk radio, Neo-confederate racist Republican politicians, and oligarch controlled social media has turned this nation into a cruel heartless place with no compassion for the vulnerable.
Red state legislatures are turning their privatized penal systems into debtors prisons. Being poor shouldn’t be a crime, nor should homelessness. We need solutions to lift everyone up not trickle down schemes to keep transferring wealth to the billionaire class.
Finally you can no longer be a Christian and a conservative. The term “Christian conservative” has become a contradiction in terms. Conservatism once meant low taxes, military preparedness, and a robust foreign policy that protected our allies and our trade. Now it has degenerated into being hateful animals consumed with rage, petty jealousy, contempt for the vulnerable, and hatred to everyone not in the MAGA camp. It is an abomination. A vengeful mob of ignorant degenerates led by media savvy Neo-Nazi oligarchs and power hungry Republican demagogues. Demagogues who preach literal Nazism, often openly quoting Hitler himself, to a mob that thinks wrong is right, hate is right, and corruption is good.
We have become the French Revolution in reverse. The angry mob is propping up the oligarchy that oppresses them while tearing down American democracy which seeks to level the playing field and treat everyone with equality, decency, and respect.

i know that the biden administration is um severely mishandling the situation to say the least but given the deranged shit all the republican candidates are saying about palestinians i don’t think abstention from voting is the move

*twirling my hair and giggling and kicking my feet* Gosh, I could totally be a political provocateur. I should start writing pamphlets. The girlies love my inflammatory rhetoric.

A slightly vintage Strahd von Zarovich look, from his famous "Blue Pirate" period. Sadly, this look never quite took off.

going through Iphigenia at Aulis again for my final paper of the semester, and have an interesting passage that I came across while looking for quotes --
Achilles: When I witness the nobility of your soul I yearn all the more for your love. So listen, I long to help you. I long to win you for my home. Thetis is my witness, it will be my loss. if I do not check the Greeks and save you. Remember, death is a terrible thing. Iphigenia: Without misgiving, I must say this: Helen the Tyndarid has done enough harm by her beauty in whipping up strife and making men shed blood. Therefore, good stranger prince, do not die for me. Kill nobody. Allow me to save Greece if I can. Achilles: O illustrious one, what more can I say if that is your decision? Your whole attitude is wonderful. That is the truth. Nonetheless, should you change your mind, this I want you to know: I shall put my weapons at the ready by the altar to rescue you from dying. Perhaps you will take my offer up when you see the sword come near your throat. I shall never let you die for a ridiculous decision. I’ll take take these weapons of mine to the temple of Artemis and await you there.

Three main chars from a sci fi story I’ve started delving into!  I got the idea around 2020 and sort of left it alone to stew for a while (and seeing that there’s an increasing lack of interest in Dune fan ocs, why not dabble in some og stuff?), so I’ve been working on the characters, plot, and worlbuilding for the past two weeks.  There’s still SO MUCH I need to iron out in regards to the plot, but I’ve been really enjoying developing the characters and the universe!  Some information on the featured chars for those curious are beneath the cut
Thrust into the seat of power after her father was assassinated, Empress Ariadne Fenway II has to contend with a planet of people who have been under the heel of the Fenway Dynasty for far too long and are ready to revolt as she tries to enact reforms to help make reparations.  Ultimately she is forced to flee when a charismatic member from the Priest Sect who calls himself “The Demagogue” joins forces with a rival noble house on the planet and enacts a coup.
A longtime childhood friend of the Empress, Captain Judd Kaspar is the head of her Honor Guard and tasked with keeping her alive.  He’s one of the few that she’s comfortable speaking freely with due to their friendship (which has gone a little past being “just friends” as they’ve gotten older—they secretly wed about a year before the coup).  Judd’s job becomes harder when “The Demagogue” gains enough leverage to force the Empress out of power, and doesn’t stop there, but sends assassins after her even while she’s on the run.
The Demagogue is a priest who rose to power suddenly in the years leading up to Empress Ariadne II taking the throne.  No one knows who he really is or where he came from, but he and his followers refer to him as “The Demagogue.”  He militarizes the people to take over neighboring star systems and planets, further limiting the places of sanctuary where the Empress can flee.  He MAY have modeled himself as a savior figure…so killing him would only make his followers more fanatical.  He knows this and is betting on his enemies avoiding killing him to steer clear of that happening.
I may or may not post more--who knows! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"EWWW why would you feel empathy or compassion for the alien bugs that look gross and don't look relatable at all when you can identify with the super-cool military humans"
have you not considered the possibility that feeling compassion for something that looks dramatically different from you, or not having a bias in favor of blatantly evil or fascistic humans just because they're human, is a good thing
or that maybe some people don't particularly want to side with humans just because you assume everyone would automatically side with humans because you think that's supposed to be the team you pick, regardless of what they're actually doing?
It doesn't matter if the bugs look like actual literal giant bugs; if they're objectively sapient and being attacked by humans who won't shut up about PURGE THE XENOS or whatever the hardcore Imperium of Man fanatics are screaming about, they shouldn't NEED to look like me to have my empathy.

The demagogue is one who preaches doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots. The demaslave is one who listens to what these idiots have to say and pretends to believe it himself.

Hypotetical Silmarillion AU:
Let’s say the Noldor don’t commit the Kinslaying and instead get Finarfin and his kids and some of their friends to help them build boats, despite knowing that this will take a while. By the time the Sun and Moon rise, they’re ready to leave Valinor.
