I know absolutely nothing about Cobra Kai, but your Party Limo Revenge Posse tag is an absolutely EPIC one.
The best thing? I didn’t make it up, it’s canon :D (almost!)
See, three drunk idiots (Daniel, Johnny, Chozen) are having a great time, celebrating good news and rocking to “Eye of the Tiger”, until they become aware that a fourth drunk idiot (Mike Barnes) has hijacked the party limo because terrible things happened to him since he got dragged back into the plot after being the villain’s (now reformed) dragon over thirty years ago. So he stops the limo and attacks Daniel - who at this point is drunk and very, very confused, but who does manage to get through to him that he’s not responsible, the main villain is, and they are going to bring him down soon!
But Mike - on something probably a lot stronger than alcohol - says screw that, he’s done enough damage, he’s going down right now! Johnny (because he’s Like That, bless him) echoes the sentiment, Chozen (who never drinks anymore but made an exception tonight) unexpectedly agrees, and poor Daniel, finding himself holding the group’s sole braincell, exclaims “We’re not gonna ride for justice like some party limo posse!”
tl;dr the canon phrasing is just “party limo posse” but the fandom has come to embrace the “party limo revenge posse” for the four drunk idiots (or the three drunk idiots and the one drunk idiot who’s not being a total doofus) and I’m so glad it makes you laugh because honestly? me too, big time 😄
it seems that with both dracula daily and cobra kai season 5, 2022 has been the year of the polycule. with dracula daily featuring the Lucy-suitor squad polycule - Lucy Westenra, Jack Seward, Arthur Holmwood & Quincey Morris - and cobra kai featuring the Daniel LaRusso-karate rivals polycule (karatecule?) - Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence, Chozen Toguchi, and Mike Barnes (as of the end of S5).
Leaving aside the plausibility of all the Cobra Kai students suddenly being too honourable for a bit of light bribery in the service of victory (surely cheating is *at least* implicit in ‘no mercy’?) it still works for me as an ending because of the Themes. Most of the Eagle Fang/Miyagi Do kids were bullied for being nerds, and s1 & 2 was all about them improbably flipping the script and learning the incredible power of physical violence to stand up for themselves. Which is understandable and expected in a show about karate, but honestly such an unlikely real-world solution that even in universe it ends with serious injuries and criminal records.
But THIS time, they got to show off their sick karate moves while ALSO using their nerd skills and strategic thinking: they didn’t win the physical fight, they won the moral high ground by using their intelligence and the power of friendship! They won because Tory & Sam took a risk, did what they thought was right and trusted their enemy; because Dmitri, Hawk & Anthony stayed true to their geek roots; because they stuck together and worked as a TEAM! They won through the power of LOVE (and the power of SOCIAL MEDIA)! It’s so corny but I’m watching a Karate Kid spinoff here, I’m not too good for corny plots.
Daniel winning the final fight with a crane kick was poetic justice, but he didn’t only win with the crane kick; he won because of the kids, because he and Johnny and now Chozen with ‘protect the egg’ actually are good teachers, so their students came up with something brilliant. (No bad student, only bad teacher.) And he also won through the power of FRIENDSHIP and TRUSTING OTHER PEOPLE and GAY LOVE THAT LASTED 40 YEARS, ymmv! Because his wife trusts him despite Terry’s efforts to the contrary, because he stayed in touch with his old friend Jessica who knows the story, because he went over to Johnny’s and listened to him. But also he won because the party limo revenge posse of his former rivals had already weakened Silver. Daniel didn’t choose violence as his first solution, but if a trio of buff karate men love him enough to avenge him (abandon him drunk in some woods at night) and THEY choose violence, that’s not on him!
It's not *quite* a philosophical examination of male violence and the value of pacifism in a militarised society, but it’ll do
so it was nice and all that the kids got to hang out at the water park but we were robbed of some middle aged man tiddy laying back on those lounge chairs instead!!!
I want to see shirtless Chozen kicking back with his Yoohoos.🥤
shirtless sunburned Johnny trying to fix those large patio umbrellas over their space. ⛱
shirtless Mike Barnes bringing the drinks and promptly falling asleep when he sits down. 💤
while Daniel sits back and sips on his cocktail in his tight Hawaiian shirt bc he must be covered up at all times like a Victorian lady whose ankles alone drive men feral.🍹
but it's ok bc he's sitting between Carmen and Amanda and those three are the Hot Babe Squad™️. 🌺
Terry Silver glares at them from across the pool bc apparently there is a Cobra Kai Side of the park. but he stands the whole time trying to get their attention in his tight black swim shorts that hit at a classy mid thigh. 🕶
