Homestuck: Beyond Cannon January Upd8
Back to our cool boy! Look at him! Look at those buck teeth! Such serious feels~
Tumblr media
"As a well-know bard (NOT THAT ONE) . . ." XD I don't know if they're planning on doing anything with this, but Homestuck trained me to pay attention anytime I see color, particularly colors grouped together.
Tumblr media
Also, I'm sure I'm missing references in some of the discarded costume/fashion pieces.
Tumblr media
Okay. Now I know you're playing on my nostalgia! A bunny in a box is just a little on the nose.
Wait . . . why did the narration slip into Vriska's quirk?
Oh . . .
Oh no . . .
Let's put a pin in that and keep reading . . .
Dammit . . . take my nostalgia and twist like that? Mean . . .
"You begin to feel some pangs of nostalgia . . ."
Hah! See! They know exactly what they're doing!
"Sheriff Dry Hops!" XD
"You have a feeling it's going to be a long day."
Okay . . . I can't decide if laying it on this thick is hilarious, annoying, or, in proper Homestuck fashion, both!
Okay. I'm not even going to point out all these call backs at this point.
Yeah, um, Harry? I really don't think you get how much of a bad idea this might be. You're lucky if all that is happening is your messages aren't getting sent.
Hmm . . . Vrissy's attitude towards Vriska is interesting. It's clear she's not enamored or hero worshipping, she still very much wants to be her own person. But she still seems to be buying into Vriska's legend quite a bit.
Actually, it's interesting the references to the legends in these conversations. It can be hard to remember, from our perspective as readers for whom these were our beloved kids, that these characters are literal gods. They are venerated and even worshipped by the people of Earth C. Even our new set of kids, who were raised by them, can't help but grow up in their shadow. I hope they play more with that and the effect it has to have had on their development.
Oh! And we have a cliffhanger. Something is glowing red and ominous and has taken the kids by surprise.
My first idea is that I'm wondering if they've met Yiffy. We still don't know much about her past, other than that she was totally not taking any of Jane's shit. She seemed relieved to see her moms, but that doesn't mean thing are hunky dory there.
What else can be on that ship? Well it's possible Jane might have made a move, and they've got foes to face. It's also possible that one of or the collective moms are very much not happy, and this is their red-hot anger. I don't think this has anything to do with Karkat, it's the wrong red.
And, of course, since it's a new team with new ideas, this could be the introduction of a new concept, character, or other plot element.
Now! Back to that pin!
So one of the themes of post canon Homestuck is controlling the narrative, often depicted literally. The Epilogues were a battle in miniature between Dead Tier Calliope and Dirk. There was also a long running, unconfirmed theory that our Calliope might have been writing, intentionally or not, the Candy Timeline.
Now Dead Tier Calliope has supposedly sealed off the Candy Timeline and trapped it within her black hole. It is, in theory, beyond the reach of anyone's influence in the Meat Timeline.
But who else has been shown previously to be able to control the narrative? Who has demonstrated the power to wrench control away from the author, even when he's trying to scorn her, and bring it back to her. Who's classpect literally describes her tendency to "steal the spotlight."
And who is now running amok in the Candy Timeline, with the impression it's a fake universe she doesn't have to care about. A universe just waiting for someone to manipulate and play with it like prey in her web.
This could be bad . . .

if u are struggling with ideas for ur htryds manga how about we give you some? Would that help?
Nope lol. XD
Friend, ideas are not the problem. I am a cesspool of ideas. I am constantly drowning in ideas. Ideas are the reproducing bunnies and I am the trenchcoat they gather in.
The hiatus happened because I got burned out, because ideas jumping in my head does not equate to me having the energy or the braincells to put them to paper. Plus as I have said before, some irl stuff happened and I needed the emotional recovery time. Plus if you've ever experienced burnout, it has a fun side effect of being like a long-lasting statis-effect that shouldn't be as effective as it is. It sucks. Don't worry about me though, I'm letting the plot bunnies run amok and have fun in my head and enjoying my indulgent project so I am stockpiling dopamine I can use on command for creative purposes. Thus is the cycle of a creative. I appreciate the patience

Alt S5b Plot Bunny, Pt 4
Jack doesn't leave Lena's side for a moment. She recovers quickly, and when she finally retuens home, she quietly confirms that Supergirl knows the truth. It's small comfort though, as they still can't speak with their new allies, or know of any plan that may be brewing across the divide. Lex doesn't suspect a thing, especially when Lena suggests that they issue a press release condemning the vigilantes that run amok in their city.
Lena herself makes several appearances to address the images printed in the newspapers-- of Supergirl lifting her from the rubble like an ascendant god.
"Supergirl saved my life that day," Lena responds when one interviewer asks, "but thw fact remains that I wouldn't have been in danger at all if it weren't for her. The DEO has done its best in recent years to curb the worst of her carelessness, but I fear it only made the situation worse. These vigilantes can no longer act with impunity."
It divides the city, and to Lena's surprise and delight, a quiet majority supports the heroes. LuthorCorp's stocks dip, and Lex grows more and more livid with every day that passes. With his focus on the Superfriends, Lena and Jack finally have room to make a move.
"I don't feel right about this," Jack says. Lena is helping him pack, but she pauses at his heavy tone. Setting her shirts aside, she steps up to meet him, resting her hands against his chest.
"This is the only way," she reminds him quietly. She reaches up to press a kiss to his lips. "I have to keep you safe."
Resting one hand on her hip, Jack cups her cheek with the other, holding her close. "At least come with me."
Lena shakes her head. "You know I can't."
"This isn't your fight, Lena. Let Supergirl and her friends go at him--"
"It is my fight." Lena's voice is sure and firm. She knows what she needs to do. "It always has been."
Pulling the trigger all those months ago only sealed her fate-- she would always stand between Lex and the world. She's the only one who can.
"Please be careful," Jack breathes, wrapping her in a hug. "Promise me."
Lena sighs into the embrace, resting her head againsthis shoulder.
"I promise."
---
Jack leaves the following morning before the sun rises, paying cash for a flight to a location Lena doesn't know. The apartment feels cold without him, but Lena warms herself with the knowledge that he is safely out of the line of fire. Now, she can get to work.
It doesn't take long for Lex to corner her in her lab one night, entering on silent feet to smack Lena across the cheek when she turns around, so hard that she staggers and falls. Lex is on her in an instant.
"Where is he?" he snarls, hand gripping her hair to force her to look at him. Though his assault had been unexpected, Lena is no longer afraid.
"Out of your reach," she says, spitting blood in his face.
Lex releases her with a shove, pacing furiously as he seethes. Lena carefully withdraws the pistol she's kept in the pocket of her labcoat.
"And now it's over--"
Before she can pull the trigger, Lex presses a button on his watch. Electricity courses through Lena's body, searing pain and fire across her senses. She drops the gun as her muscles spasm, for long painful moments until Lex releases the button and the current stops.
As Lena gasps for breath, Lex leans over her with a smirk.
"Fool me once, shame on you," he says, "fool me twice... You didn't really think I'd let you live without having a failsafe, did you?"
He kicks the gun away from her sluggish, grasping fingers. "It was simple, really. Subcutaneous control device, adminstered by a single injection before you woke up."
Lex sets his foot against Lena's chest, slowly pressing. Lena whimpers under the building pressure, struggling to breathe. So this was how it ended.
"Oh, no, Lena," Lex delivers, seeing the defeat in her eyes. "We're not finished yet."
As Lena's vision starts to dim, rapidly losing consciousness, Lex's voice is the last thing she hears.
"We're only just getting started."

hello from a long-time lurker, absolutely loving the spooky!lads and thanks very muchly for bringing it into our lives 🙇 i've had plot bunnies running amok in my head for days and they keep stumbling upon brian and the company and i remember you saying that you know what happens once the lads realize what the company's up to, so im here to humbly ask if you might spare any morsels of plot for a hungry hungry daydreamer 👀
Hi there! Of course I can!
I can finally talk more about the Company
The Company is called “Novus”
Novus, in the public eye, is a robotics company
What they actually deal with is much more complicated
“Project Evolution”
They had been trying to create fully-functioning cyborgs for years, but had never made one that lasted for more than a few weeks
That was, until Brian
(Yes, they were the ones that caused the accident. Brian was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.)
One of the problems they’d had with the failed cyborgs was that their failsafes always backfired on them
So on Brian, they held back on the failsafes and left more of his original personality than they had with the others, making him a lot more self-aware
This, too, backfired when Brian woke up completely as his normal self, just now as a cyborg
So Novus had to make up a story about a medical miracle, pretend to be doctors for a few days, and teach Brian the workings of his new body
After those few days, however, Brian could tell something was wrong and he “accidentally” used his new laser eye to blow up the building’s servers, conveniently destroying a lot of their research
Now this facility was only one of the many owned by Novus, and the leader of this particular one knew she would get in trouble if their boss found out what the cyborg had done
So she decided to stage it like he had made a violent escape
(He would probably die in a few weeks, anyway)
They wiped nearly all memories of Novus and let him go
When they realised a few months later that Brian was still online, they started trying to remotely hack into him to shut him down
All they managed to do was delete a few memories
They have not managed to build a successful cyborg since, so trying to regain control of Brian is one of their main priorities
The fact that he had aligned himself with monsters was... unexpected
So now they are trying to get their cyborg back without incurring the wrath of the supernatural forces

I’m so sad that I don’t remember the specific details upon waking up but...
I just had a dream where there were three girls with special abilities fight with evil. And they’re all capable of transforming into Eastern Dragons. I was in the POV of one of the girls.  All three of them had their own skill set. I was in the POV of the girl whose skill set involved stealth. She can make things seem hidden because that was her master’s specialty. Her dragon colors are black and gold. I’ll just label her ‘Black’ because I don’t know her name.
I forgot what the deal of the monsters were, but one of the girls’ father is a scientist and due to a botched Science experiment, it produced multiple copies of a monster because it was capable of multiplying on its own. He’s been doing his best to contain them all while coming up with a serum to cancel whatever it was that created those monsters. [Oddly enough, they looked like slightly deformed and corrupted versions of Max from Max and Ruby. Yes. The monsters looked like bunnies.]
For some reason my older brother was there and he was the brother of the daughter of the scientist. lol. But anyway, the big bad boss was disguised as a teacher :0 And there was going to be a huge event at school and her intention was to wait for all the guests to gather then she’ll slaughter everyone and eat them.
So...the story also had my baby cousin for some reason. And she’s actually plot relevant. I forgot why though. Maybe the serum was developed based on her genetic make up or something.
Black was the one who was able to receive the serum from the scientist. The plan was to stab the teacher with the syringe so the serum would paralyze and weaken her, and they can take her out before she wrecked havoc.
But things didn’t turn out that way. The disguised teacher went nuts and then grew in size and kept destroying buildings as she pleased. Black was in the line of fire at the time, it was her vs. the disguised teacher. She didn’t have the chance to inject the serum in the teacher, so she was about to die when she was being overpowered. She didn’t have the time to transform into a dragon (it’s because of the magical girl-esque sequence. Before transforming into a dragon they had to ‘transform’ into a more durable set of clothes + body.)
The other two girls caught on and transformed into dragons to buy Black time to transform. She made herself hidden with her ability and hid inside an open tree and began ‘transforming’. The teacher was running amok but since she’s OP, she saw through the ‘hidden’ blanket and she stabbed Black’s right arm repeatedly to disturb her transformation.
Black’s transformation was incomplete, but she flew out out of the tree so the teacher wouldn’t be able to continue. She was bleeding badly, but after finishing her transformation in air, she instantly changed into a dragon, which would heal her wounds.
I forgot what else happened but all I know is that the teacher got beaten down by Black. Because of the three girls, Black had the most battle experience. The teacher got shrunk down and before she could go to another rampage, the serum was injected in her system, and Black repeatedly punched the teacher without remorse.
She had a ring on her right hand and she just kept punching the teacher--who was already reduced into an ordinary human being because of the serum :0 Blood was everywhere hgkjghg. And that’s when I woke up.

World Eater [Prologue]
First try at a multiverse fic. Posted over on Sufficient Velocity forums, but I’m not actually planning to post on FFN or AO3 until I get along far enough in the story. I have way too many plot bunnies running around already. orz
Title: World Eater Category: Multiverse (Multi-fandom) Summary: Rebirth in another world, and what it consists of: Second chances, defying destiny, shattering the chains of fate. Or at least, that’s how the story usually goes… but for Alice, things happen to be a little different. [OC, AU, Multiverse]
Warnings: Violence, gore, possibly disturbing content in the future? Again, I'm not too sure where this is headed yet, but I’ll post warnings here if/when they come up.
[Next]
. 0.0: Prologue
.
It begins with a question, and the question is this: “Do you want to live?” … It’s a simple question. The question is simple, and its answer is equally so. “Yes.”
Yes, she says. Yes, she wants to live. Why wouldn’t she? It was a freak accident. She had died young, so young, and it’s hardly fair that life was so cruelly snatched away from her, for no real fault of her own. Did she ask for this? Did she ever ask for any of this? No. No one ever wants to die. But she dies. Quietly, quietly. Quietly, but surely. … Hers is a death that no one will notice and no one will miss, because she is nothing. Quietly, quietly, she will pass ever so quietly and gently into the good night. Yet out of the darkness, there is a voice asks her if she wants to live. She says yes. Of course she does. Why wouldn’t she? Who doesn’t want to live? And so, here she sits. In an unrecognizable room lit only by dim candlelight, upon an ink-black chair behind an equally ink-black table, she sits facing an unfamiliar figure –someone who is her judge, jury, and executioner. But it’s alright. She has nothing left to lose. Nothing to lose, and everything to gain. “There will be conditions for this, you understand,” the masked man warns her. The words that fall from his lips are cautionary, but his voice is nothing if not sweet and lilting, so alluring and inviting and so very completely at odds with the ghastly skull of some great unrecognizable beast that sits atop his face, obscuring his eyes. Angel, devil, god. It doesn’t matter. “Nothing for nothing. Everything that is worth anything always comes with a price, sweetheart. That’s the way of the world.” Everything has a price. And some prices are too steep, too heavy to ever be paid. Yes, she understands what he’s saying. But she also thinks that, for the chance to escape death –nothing would be too high of a price to pay. I don’t want to die please don’t let me die please no. “Is that so? I see.” Gloved fingertips tap idly against themselves as the man folds his hands together and leans back in his seat. The half-mask covering the top half of his face makes it hard to discern his expression, but she thinks she can glean something akin to satisfaction from him in the slow curve of his lips. “Excellent, excellent. Then we have ourselves an accord, my dear Alice.” An agreement. A deal. We have ourselves an accord. Yes. Nothing is too high of a price to pay. “Mm, I do like seeing assertiveness in a confident young woman. No point in being wishy-washy when you know exactly what it is you want, right?” The man leans forward with a small huff of laughter, elbows rested against the tabletop. There is a vague sense of foreboding that crawls down her spine at his words, but she remains resolute. It’s either this or death, and she’ll take the former over the latter. “Clever. You’re a smart girl, aren’t you, Alice?” (Smart, perhaps. But not wise. Death is death, and if she were truly wise, she would’ve chosen to remain dead. But she is not.) “… May I ask what the price is?” What is the price to live? “Ah, the price,” he sighs. A soft intersperse of silence falls between them. “It’s quite simple, really. In exchange for another chance at living, I’ll have you help me with a little task.” Task? “See, I’m a regulator, and the World is currently in flux,” he explains. “This puts me in a bit of a bind. So many imbalances and aberrations running amok amongst all the parallel realities… Rules exist for a reason. There must be balance. Otherwise, we’re all just stuck on a slow march towards inevitable destruction. And we can’t have that now, can we?” Her only response to all of this is a slow, slow blink, because Okay, this sounds kind of serious and all, but if you’re expecting me, a plain vanilla human, to be able to do anything about this then you’ve got another thing coming– (She desperately wants to live, yes, and she’s willing to pay any price for it –any price that is within her abilities. She’s young, but she's not stupid.) Something of her innermost thoughts must come across on her face, because the man smiles. “Terrible, isn’t it? Just terrible.” He shakes his head, chuckling. “Oh, have a little more faith, sweetheart. I’d ask of you the difficult, the challenging, the improbable, but never the impossible. Tell me, does the term ‘transmigration’ mean anything to you?” … Rebirth? The man lets out a soft hum. “Something like that, yes. ‘Transmigration’ refers to the movement of the soul into another body after death. Reincarnation, in a manner of speaking. Distressingly enough, it’s currently happening on a massive scale between a large number of worlds with a disturbingly high frequency. There is an error I’m looking into right now which is the cause of that… but I’m afraid it’s not quite enough, at this rate. This is quite problematic, you see.” She tilts her head, “How so?” “Because it causes imbalance, of course. And imbalance always, always invites destruction.” The masked man makes an idle gesture with his hands. “Every world has its own path to follow, its own timeline to adhere to, and for that reason every being that exists within each world has a purpose from the moment of its conception. You might be familiar with some of the worlds I’m referring to –stories, I believe you know them as, but I assure you that they are all very much real. Now, what do you think happens to a story when a foreign element suddenly enters it? What happens when you forcibly insert into a story something that did not originally exist?” It takes several long seconds for her to realize that he is actually expecting an answer. “… The story changes?” “Yes, the story changes, of course it does. But what are the consequences?” A hint of impatience, the first real sign of agitation. It only lasts for a single heartbeat, before the man quickly recollects himself. “The world falls astray from its intended path, and perhaps it’s alright, because it’s only a minor alteration in a single thread in the tapestry, just a single loose thread. Nothing much to worry about, right?” A single moment of silence. Shadows swirl restlessly and leap across the tabletop, gnarled strands of darkness choking each other to death. “Now imagine what happens when all the threads in the tapestry spring loose.” The girl winces at the too-placid tone that the last line is delivered in. “That’s… not good?” “No, it’s not,” the masked man agrees calmly. “So here’s the deal: I’ll show you the path that a world is meant to take, and let you live in the place of one of the world’s key denizens. But you must ensure that in each world, certain significant events that are meant to happen must occur.” A note of finality. An order. “Al… Alright…” she pauses haltingly. “So basically, then, you want me to… make sure key events in a world will occur, regardless of… interference from… other people who’ve reincarnated into the world? Because it causes imbalance?” “That’s the gist of it.” It sounds crazy, she thinks. Ridiculous. Mad, even. It sounds just like the beginning of some badly-written fanfiction about saving the world, and the girl isn’t quite sure what to make of it. And really, why her? Of all people to offer another chance at living, in exchange for saving the world, why choose her? She's well aware that there's nothing that's special about her, nothing that makes her worth more than anyone else. Why, then, would someone like her be given a second chance at life? It's suspicious, and downright ludicrous. But… “… In exchange, I won’t die?” “Well, I wouldn’t go that far. But didn’t you hear what I just said? As you complete the tasks I assign you, you will have the opportunity to live again.” She closes her eyes. (Who knew that this was what would await her after death?) “There’s a pretty big mess with the whole infestation of transmigrated souls from across different worlds, so I’ll give you the ability to be able to tell between regular and transmigrated souls on sight. That’s all I have to offer you in terms of unique skills, though. Anything more would only be... detrimental.” ... Huh, she hadn’t even thought to ask for any special abilities. It was average of the whole 'die-and-be-reborn-in-another-world-via-ROB' trope in web novels, yes, but it just hadn't really... occurred to her? Or rather, it was more like... Getting another chance to live was already much more than she’d ever expected, so she hadn’t thought to ask for anything beyond that. Well, it's a bit of a moot point to think of it now, anyways. Invincibility and laser eyes would certainly be useful, but clearly there are limits to omnipotence. She's not blind. Evidently, she’s gone and gotten herself signed up for something dangerous, but… as long as she has another chance to live… Is it really so wrong to think this way? ... I just don’t want to die. ... It’s not everything, but it’s enough. It's enough, she repeats to herself. It must be. The Masked Man smiles. “Do your best and try not to die before completing your tasks, sweetheart. Who knows? It might be a little more permanent this time around.”

6 Plants and Shrubs That’ll Wreck Your Yard and Ruin Your Life
Ales-A/iStock
Flowering shrubs and lush greenery might seem like a bonus in the garden, but not every plant is desirable—and some are downright destructive. Yup, we’re talking about invasive species, including flora that grow too big, spread seemingly overnight, and push out native plants and ecosystems.
“The wrong plantings end up competing with local varieties for light, water, and nutrients—and some invasive shrubs even bully native bushes, preventing them from growing altogether,” explains Craig Jenkins-Sutton, president and co-founder of Topiarius, a landscape design firm.
Invasive plants are strong, adapting to a wide set of environmental conditions, which means they can thrive on poor plots of land.
“Some displace flora that native insects rely on, causing a cascade of ecological harm,” adds Kitty Connolly, executive director of the Theodore Payne Foundation, a California organization that advocates for native plants.
Think it can’t get any worse? There are shrubs and flowers that become invasive if their grower doesn’t control them (this is where you come in!). All in all, if you care about your yard, you’ll want to prune (or dig up) these six plants so they don’t run amok.
Wisteria
Photo by Creative Interiors by Kim
Pretty, isn’t it? This flowering vine is so popular that it’s been incorporated into some city logos in California, reports Cassy Aoyagi, president of FormLA Landscaping. But the Chinese and Japanese varieties are invasive, growing up to 60 feet tall. Pruning is the solution, says Jenkins-Sutton.
“Cut it back in July or August after the flowering ends, clipping all the side shoots and long tendrils to 3 or 4 inches, or six buds,” he recommends.
Next, chop the main stems to restrict the amount of space they take up. This will keep it from blocking light near the house, getting under roofs and gutters and tearing into drain pipes, he adds. Or plant something in a family of a similar color that won’t cause trouble. Aoyagi suggests lupine, pink currant, or California lilac, all of which have the same charms and have lavender blooms.
Bamboo
This exotic plant, often used as a privacy screen or hedgerow, brings invasive bugs and disease as it travels to the United States. Bamboo varieties can spread as much as 5 feet in a year and can leap to neighboring properties and damage underground utilities, reports Jenkins-Sutton.
“It’s extremely difficult to kill, as it easily survives winter’s cold, and deer tend to avoid it,” he adds.
If you already have this willowy wanderer on your property, follow the recommended containment measures, urge the pros.
“Make sure bamboo is surrounded by a sturdy barrier, such as sheet metal, concrete or polyethylene that’s been sunk 3 feet into the ground and at least 2 inches above the soil’s surface,” explains Jenkins-Sutton.
English ivy
Rats. Mortar damage. Tree death. Do you want to be responsible for these tragedies? Oh, and English ivy is boring to behold (Aoyagi prefers Silver Carpet). This invasive loves deep shade, spreads quickly and has no natural enemies.
“It establishes a monoculture, which means it dominates an area at the expense of all others, and left unchecked, will blanket forest floors, suffocate plant seedlings and smother trees,” laments Jenkins-Sutton.
Privet
It’s a nice looking hedge, we get it, but it can grow to 30 feet in height and forms an impenetrable thicket that can trap small mammals (poor bunny!). Aoyagi points out that it’s a single-plant hedge. Lacking biodiversity, it creates weakness and draws pests to the garden.
“Homeowners tend to mechanically shave it, rather than structurally prune it to a natural or desired shape, and this creates more vulnerability, along with noise and air pollution,” she notes.
Knotweed
Knotweed is hardcore.
“This plant can damage foundations, driveways, roads, invade and degrade streams, cause erosion, and collapse riverbanks,” says Jenkins-Sutton.
Think you can just pull it up by the roots and move on? Knotweed actually comes back from the dead, zombie-style, and it can regenerate—like a starfish that’s lost a limb.
“This plant requires proper disposal of its fragments over multiple years, because the pieces can remain dormant for up to two decades before sprouting again,” he notes.
Vinca
Home gardeners love vinca. It’s excellent ground cover that can spread over large expanses with its periwinkle flowers, rooting wherever it touches the ground. As a result, it reduces the need to weed or apply mulch. But this pick, similar to English ivy, is an aggressive little vine.
“Vinca major (with the blueish flowers) is incredibly invasive in sheltered, forested areas, and it’s on noxious weed lists in some states,” reports Jenkins-Sutton.
Instead, plant dwarf periwinkle (vinca minor), its kinder, gentler cousin.

“The wrong plantings end up competing with local varieties for light, water, and nutrients-and some invasive shrubs even bully native bushes, preventing them from growing altogether,” explains Craig Jenkins-Sutton, president and co-founder of Topiarius, a landscape design firm.
Think it can't get any worse? There are shrubs and flowers that become invasive if their grower doesn't control them (this is where you come in!). All in all, if you care about your yard, you'll want to prune (or dig up) these six plants so they don't run amok.

Pretty, isn't it? This flowering vine is so popular that it's been incorporated into some city logos in California, reports Cassy Aoyagi, president of FormLA Landscaping.
Or plant something in a family of a similar color that won't cause trouble.

“It's extremely difficult to kill, as it easily survives winter's cold, and deer tend to avoid it,” he adds.
If you already have this willowy wanderer on your property, follow the recommended containment measures, urge the pros.
“Make sure bamboo is surrounded by a sturdy barrier, such as sheet metal, concrete or polyethylene that's been sunk 3 feet into the ground and at least 2 inches above the soil's surface,” explains Jenkins-Sutton.
English ivy

Privet

It's a nice looking hedge, we get it, but it can grow to 30 feet in height and forms an impenetrable thicket that can trap small mammals (poor bunny!). Aoyagi points out that it's a single-plant hedge.

Knotweed actually comes back from the dead, zombie-style, and it can regenerate-like a starfish that's lost a limb.
“This plant requires proper disposal of its fragments over multiple years, because the pieces can remain dormant for up to two decades before sprouting again,” he notes.
Vinca

Home gardeners love vinca. It's excellent ground cover that can spread over large expanses with its periwinkle flowers, rooting wherever it touches the ground. As a result, it reduces the need to weed or apply mulch. But this pick, similar to English ivy, is an aggressive little vine.
“Vinca major (with the blueish flowers) is incredibly invasive in sheltered, forested areas, and it's on noxious weed lists in some states,” reports Jenkins-Sutton.
Instead, plant dwarf periwinkle (vinca minor), its kinder, gentler cousin.

Random plot bunnies run amok!

Okay, so this, once again is not actually a story; but it IS closer than anything I have yet (so, you know, progress, yay!) This is a very, totally, completely random collection of half formed story ideas, plotlines, sometime’s possibly even just random lines parts of dialogue that I really like that I just cannot seem to get worked out into an actual story (and I’m not cruel enough to post something that is part way done and abandon it, I’ve been disappointed like that too many times to do it to someone else). I figure if I post this, maybe someone with more follow through will run with them (who knows, maybe posting like this will get me to get something worked out enough to form a complete story by myself). I have a feeling that I will refine/add to this fairly frequently. ***Fair warning: I have nearly 30 different fandoms (many of which the source material has long since ended) and heaven only knows how many characters rattling around in my head ( I’m never board at least), so when I say random, I mean even I can’t always figure out where the idea came from, or how I even began to arrive at it.
