My favorite scenarios are ones involving curious giants and tinies that desperately want to run away but can’t

A tiny is trapped and a giant finds them, helping them out of the trap and offering safety, food, even letting them go. The tiny is suspicious— what could this giant possibly want? There’s no way that they’re just being kind for the sake of it, everything they’d ever been told suggested that all giants were evil and they should be dead or in a jar right now. The tentative curiosity and choice to stay of the tiny toasts my eggs and scrambles my bread. The initial terror turned confusion turned curiosity turned delight. Mwah, chef’s kiss.

Also the reverse, where a giant who hates tinies gets stuck with one and slowly comes to realize that they absolutely adore them. I love those equally as much.

Dying to know if this says anything about me, assuming you’re still doing these ^^ /nf

This is quite the interesting scenario to discect.

So the main theme of note would be subverted expectations- interestingly, this tends to crop up quite frequently in G/t media.

Typically, this can imply some sort of projection of the self, or some reframing of another.

The main thing I would suggest to consider are the traits associated with the giant, as well as what the tiny/and possibly others think of the giant.

Even if you are more tiny aligned, I would still take the time to consider what traits are shown, and ask yourself if any of those reflect personal feelings.

A regularly occurring theme is to project ones own attributes that we see as misunderstood or overlooked onto the giant. Being shy, or intimidating can lead to us feeling unapproachable, and plant that seed in our subconscious that "If only someone got to know me, they would see that I'm [Defining Trait]"

Though that is certainly not the only route. There is another common trend in G/t, and fantasy as a whole, to reframe negative emotions- even fantasizing a different resolution. Do the "scary" traits of the giant remind you of a time you were wronged by someone? It might be that your brain is trying to reframe it to help with coping. The reframing allows for fantastical leeway to suggest they were not actually wronging you- their intentions were just misunderstood. Those thoughts help the mind to feel more in control because it shifts the blame from someone not liking you or intentionally hurting you to being a misunderstanding- a far more comforting concept that being malicious.

Reframing doesn't have to just occur with the giant archetype either. The tiny holds bias and preconceived notions of how they anticipate someone "dangerous" to act. Does the tiny remind you of anyone? perhaps someone that judged you over something you could not change?

As weird as it may be to say, the brain likes metaphors. There is a great deal of meaning within our subconscious imagery. Peeling back the layers and trying to determine what each character represent is quite the peak into the inner workings of our psyches.

Theres also another very interesting projection that could be occurring on the tiny. Do they share any negative or mistaken traits? Are these traits mirroring traits of your own?

The fact the tiny cannot comprehend why someone would be nice for the sake of being nice to them could be very telling about our own internal self reflection- and its important to analyze what traits of our own we might see of as unworthy of unconditional love/kindness.

I hope this breakdown could offer you some insight into the inner workings of this dynamic trope!

a bit more serious/negative note on childes characterization and fandom perception, saw a post where the tone upset me quite a bit

i did do a whole vent/rant/cathartic 2.4k words of writeup on this yesterday which like did help clear my thoughts a lot but in hindsight is way too long to just release by itself so i suppose ill just summarize my thinking now

so i would really appreciate it if a certain subset of childe fans reading his character a specific way (the trauma, identity crisis, dark abyss experiences, etc. - you know the one) could stop acting as if its this like. superior canon proven hoyo intended most real and intellectual way to look at his character and interpret his narrative. as opposed to just one reading of the canon material among others. and im sure most people are civil but ive seen this tone enough to just need to get this off my chest rn.

like im not "missing" something or being "tricked" (what?) by childe or the narrative. its not some naive ignorance about this reading being a thing and the ways people argue for it. ive read his lore. p much memorized it rly. and i simply did not find the arguments that compelling or feel that inserting this additional layer of subjective interpretation atop my understanding of the canon text did much to enhance childes narrative potential or characterization for me.

simply put. applying this super strict irl psychology logic (bc yes a real 14 yo going thru some irl version of ajax' backstory would get severe psychological disturbances as p much given. i know what the DSM-V is) to fantasy game characters isnt how i enjoy engaging with childe or any character really.

genshin is a fantasy game and fantasy as a genre has always readily sidestepped things like realistic psychological consequences of various heavy experiences in favor of building a compelling narrative whenever necessary. i dont find arguments relating to irl psychology particularly relevant at all on the subject really. if you enjoy this approach, go on, have fun! but please understand that its an interpretation that people can disagree without being "wrong" or failing some arbitrary reading comprehension test.

like the dismissive tone i see from people who simply cannot comprehend that like no, this take isnt some universal truth of hoyos that every person will glean from reading up on childes lore and appearances if theyre big brain and intellectual enough is just... really fucking rude? and alienating.

im not going to go on a like whole ramble on all the things that i personally see very much as hinting towards childes characterization going quite a different direction than this popular heavy self-doubt, psychological angle would suggest. its my interpretation after all, and could be proven wrong the way any interpretation can. but for now ive read his lore for years and looked into every single tidbit that involves him and so far hoyos writing of him hasnt given me any convinving case for changing my view drastically anytime soon. and id just like to be allowed to exist in this fandom space without being randomly jumpscared by posts alleging im reducing his character to this or that just bc i see his greatest narrative potential elsewhere.

theres enough insane shit and incredibly interesting lore relating to his overall role in the story and the cosmic scale of teyvat as a whole to be invested in already. like taking childes character as depicted to us and how in-game content characterizes him at a relative face value as opposed to seeking an implied internal struggle of sth hidden and repressed is me simply finding that take the most unique, fascinating, horrifying, compelling and exciting way to see him instead. thats what i love about him and his character. like im sorry, in my eyes the dark past corrupting innocence and trauma angle has just been done to death already in media. childe can have something actually different and breaking those tropes is what makes him stand out for me!

anyway. this whole situation is not sth i wanna start flaming ppl for or make into some drama, i try my best to stay on my lane and let ppl live even if i disagree w these sorta takes on childe. and i just wish for that grace to be extended towards myself too.

This is trolling. No one assumes trans men are masculine. We get called boys even in our 30s, drawn as skinny white AFABs in layers of soft clothing, and reassured that it's okay if we want to kiss other boys. Actually, being assured that you're a cutie patootie fem uwu is really dysphoria inducing for a lot of trans men. I was on tumblr when I had just come out when I was 15 and it was incredibly discouraging to see the posts fawning over adorable wittle twans bois. I'm 25, I don't want to hold hands with a boy, I want to fuck a man. I don't want to change my hobbies and I don't care if people think it's toxic masculinity that makes me like "manly" things (way to assign the binary to activities, real progressive of you) and I don't get anything from "let boys be soft" with clapping emojis and sparkles inbetween every word with glittering font. "No actually it's good to not support part of a marginalized group!" no. Your trolling is shit and so are you.

And the idea that ace people are assumed to be against sex actually made me laugh out loud. I'm working on my doctorate and actually, on college campuses? I've heard from professors - not students, professors, adults old enough to have college-age kids - that ace people have sex at the same rate as straights but they need more foreplay, ace people just need more time to get to know you but after that they're sexually indistinguishable from heterosexuals, that asexuality isn't real, that asexuality is an internet label people use instead of admitting that they can't get laid, and my least favorite, that any man who says he's asexual is actually an incel/that asexuality is another term for incels and femcels. Then you hop online and the internet goes, "Ace people love sex! Ace people love kink! Ace people have just as much sexual attraction as other people! You'r'e valid if you're ace and fuck/do kink/are attracted to everyone!" and if there's positivity for people who are ace who aren't into sex, I've yet to see it. Hell, being not into sex gets you labeled "repulsed", like you're retreating from it the way the Wicked Witch of the West would from water and not just not into it. That happened even in OTNF's own comment section, and these are not uneducated people when it comes to queerness, we've just normalized that sex is a part of everyone's identity so much that even if you're asexual, it's weird and must be a repulsion thing if you're not into it. "Uh actually everyone assumes [__] so there's no need for positivity for [__]" fucking where?! Where are all these people who assume being asexual = not wanting sex?

For the record, I got my undergrad at two different universities due to a change of major, got my master's at another, and am getting my doctorate at a fourth, all in four different US states. One was in the Northeast, one was in the South, one was in the Midwest and now I'm on the West Coast. And I have never encountered people who assume trans men are manly or that asexual people don't have sex.

I have encountered sex negative asexuals, people who get so upset they leave the room if you make a joke involving them and sex, who interrupt the professor mid-lecture to say, "Ace people have sex!", though. That's how deeply this is ingrained in some people's minds, they will say it even when it does not apply to them, even when it's the opposite of themselves, so they can make sure they are Educating The Cishetallos and, more importantly, then share the moment they had to do so with their progressive friends for brownie points/in order to be seen as One Of The Good Queers who educates others.

As for the weird thing in the troll ask pretending anyone who talks about their lived experience believes in a conspiracy... do yourself a favor and get help bringing up your literacy before you take the SAT/ACT, kid. Not only is your trolling shit but you don't understand what the word conspiracy means. Someone saying, "[insert thing here] happened to me" is not a conspiracy and this is why your English teachers gave you C's - to get you out of their classroom and make your lack of comprehension someone else's problem.

In the event this wasn't a troll but was actually what you read, please get two tutors and possibly a screening for any latent anxiety or mental illnesses that would explain how you read people venting about shitty life experiences and thought they believed there was a conspiracy of some kind going on. Because that's the kind of making shit up out of thin air my dad, who has diagnosed Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Paranoid Personality Disorder, would do, and it's not a great sign if you read people going, "the people around me are shitty about this" and jumped to "the people who sent those asks are saying there's a conspiracy theory against them and I am the one sole person who can see the truth here!"

I really don't know how to explain this to people but if someone says something is shitty on their campus, they're saying something is shitty on their campus. It's not a personal attack or conspiracy. Sometimes shit fucking sucks and it's exactly that deep.

You wouldn't think "Someone had a stupid-ass opinion on my college campus" would be that hard to believe.

Now you listen to me SolarSparky. I am talking directly into your ear now. You will give us the Cricket lore of I am throwing you to the salmonids at Um’ami Ruins.

I shake your hand and give you the lore/rambling ideas for the Cricket So Cricket was raised by Salmonids, I think how I'm going to get it involved with them is they wander a little too close to a school (I'm just gonna call a settlement of salmonids that) of them (it's far off, Grizzco does not know about them/doesn't send workers to that specific location.). I don't know how Cricket ends up there, maybe they are just a wanderer, maybe their egg was left in the area and they just kinda frolic and live around there.

They do observe salmonids going in and out from a far at first, but realize they may be able to take them in. But before they can just show themselves, a smallfry comes around and seems interested in Cricket. This is Soggy Seaweed aka Soap. It comes around and gets called away but enough meets happen and Cricket is able to take on a salmonid form (either a Chum or Smallfry I'm having a hard time deciding.) So Soap takes Cricket in disguise and shows them to his mom, she just thinks Cricket is from another salmonid group but honestly the school doesn't mind so they are allowed to join.

They are most definitely given a job, they can't do front line field work/battling obviously, I think maybe they start off just as a tool and weapon cleaner, maybe they help build buildings/other things. I think I would like them to be part of the group that is in charge of/goes and trades with the Octarians. Cricket can be like "Oh there are other people like me…"

So at some point. Cricket decides that it may be time to leave, we have 3 options

Grizzco finds them and starts sending workers; Cricket and Soaps mom is unfortunately killed

Cricket and Soap leave but they lie about it being a trip to somewhere else (something something salmonid lore)

Maybe one of the Octarians noticed the "abnormalities" in Cricket disguise and one day ways just like "I'm getting you out of here bro I dont care where you go just. Go." (If we go with this option, Cricket later works for Grizzco. We could treat it as them looking for the school again)

So my idea for Cricket is that they end up down in Alterna before Solfish (first neo 3) gets down there, same with the NSS (depending on when they got down there). Grizzco gave Cricket a special offer due to Crickets excellent work and abilities, but whoopsies, it ended up leading them to almost being a subject for the fuzzy ooze. They get out mostly unscathed, they either get memory loss or they still can't speak. We have another set off options:

the test facility was in a layer above Alterna (there is a diagram of it and it shows theres something above) Cricket falls down but it's fine and conscious. The NSS catch them skittering around

the facility was in the rocket or one of the islands. Cricket superjumps away for the first time and lands on the first island; it's a rough landing and Cricket ends up unconscious for temperature and trauma reasons; the NSS find them partially covered in snow and out cold (literally, they are cold-blooded, I'd imagine if they get too cold their systems slow down. They help them out though.) Ye :]

Oh this is sooooo fun omg especially bc like…theres so many options ✨Ironically the answers are mostly like…each other. I’m so excited okay sooo

Cato’s is definitely Clove looking annoyed. Like giving him enough attitude in her face that you can see it in the picture. I don’t know exactly what she was doing IN the picture but she looks annoyed and he loves it. Thats the like outside lock screen picture, the INSIDE picture is absolutely one that should not be seen publicly. LIke…absolutely not for public consumption but for his yes indeed okay. He later becomes obsessed (and I mean obsessed) with pictures of Clove and their son so it’s an ever changing combo of pictures he takes of them. Not the inside picture. That one NEVER Changes (except to other pictures that should not see the light of day).

Clove’s is the two of them together probably looking at each other and not at the camera. She’s probably in his lap, they’re probably staring at each other, her arm over his shoulders kinda thing. Like taken candidly by one of their friends at a party or something, like Glimmer seems the type to just take random pictures of people and friends because love is all around her blah blah blah. So yeah. It’s them together. Looking hot. The usual. His giant hands on her waist is a focal point.

Finnick and Annie absolutely have the same exact picture, it’s each other and their son like a professional picture of the three of them probably on the beach. They do that thing where they’d both pick up each others phones and get so confused when they lock themselves out because they cant tell them apart.

Marvel’s is Glimmer. He’s in the picture too but the focus is very much Glimmer like he’s stand-in behind her with his arms around her shoulder and he’s Clearly saying something in her ear because she’s laughing and THATS why it’s his favorite because she’s laughing and smiling and there is literally nothing he likes better than Glimmer being happy enough to actually laugh at something. It later becomes ever changing pictures of Glimmer and the girls and they are definitely all three matching and have the same smile and eyes and hair and it’s everything and it changes like monthly because theres constantly new outfit updates.

Glimmer also I think has two. The like front lock screen is definitely her girls. All different variations of them but it is always them together. Usually in matching outfits. Or like snuggled up together. She is DEEPLY obsessed with them. The inside picture like barely ever changes it’s from when the girls were really little and they were exhausted with two little babies and it’s him asleep on like the recliner or something with both of them also sleeping onto of him. It’s a favorite of hers.

Enobaria’s is just Cashmere. Like at a wedding or something with her elbow on the table and her chin in her hand. Or like laying in bed. Or literally just any way shape or form of cashmere. But it’s not like the capitol/D1 glamour shots it’s her all excited in the winter bundled up holding her little peppermint coffee, or laying on the beach in 4 in a big sun hat. Or one specific moment in the like 6 weeks of whirlwind wedding planning of Glimmer which involved Cashmere literally laying in the living room covered in sparkly light pink tulle and flowers because it was literally covering the entire house. Like moments where she seems genuinely happy and genuinely smiling because thats the part of her she never got to be prewar ya know? Sometimes rarely it’s the two of them together but mostly it’s like..just little happy pictures of cash.

Cashmere’s is always people together. The like main one is usually her and Enobaria, like one of them looking at each other at one of the like 7890 parties they end up at post war and by that I mean dinner parties and weddings. Theres a picture of the two of them at Glimmer’s, Enobaria covered in a layer of Glitter from Cash’s dress just so so cute. I feel like theres a lot of beach gatherings because of Finnick so theres definitely pictures of the two of them extra tan that becomes a favorite of like…Cash practically sitting ontop of her. The inside picture is always like of her/gloss/glimmer I think. Sometimes the girls make the cut in the group picture, but it’s usually the three of them.

One time Marvel got so severely sunburned he couldn’t move and Finnick made him take a picture holding up a cooked lobster for comparison and that became like at least the group chat picture if not everyone’s contact picture for him en masse. It’s not a phone screen but it’s a funny thought.

so this got waaaaay out of my hands i'm sorry I just got so excited it was a lot of fun 😅 Thank you my friend this was SO so fun!!

Emilia for the asky thingy??

EMILIA :D i have so many thoughts on her (i will however preface this by saying emilia is one of my favorite characters of all time <3) so this is probably gonna veer into vaguely meta/analysis territory and it will be Long. (also i love ur emilia icon HAH) anyway without further ado...

Sexuality Headcanon: BI ACE. if not bi ace how come she has the color palette..???? that and i simply think emisuba are bi4bi fr fr. and more specifically i think emilia is demisexual!!

Gender Headcanon: ok so.... this one got unexpectedly long but T^T i do think that emilias relationship with femininity and her gender and her biological sex could be explored given she looks exactly like satella, and then theres puck's slight sexist remarks sometimes, and also her. apparently not knowing where babies come from. and like??? do half elves get periods?? how'd puck explain that one??? that and i do think the idea of trans emilia would be very interessting to explore yes (though i do think trans ftm or nonbinary emilia would be more interesting in terms of like. emilia is moving away from satella, but emilia would probably think about if that makes emilia themself a coward for doing so. but also i think id be eviscerated by 90% of the fandom if i explored those ideas in depth T^T). and like... in general, emilia's Whole Character is characterized by a loss of control over a lot of things in her life across so many routes in rezero. :((( which is not 100% specific to gender and biological sex of course but it could factor in a bit. because theres also. well. the implication that she probably was gonna be (trigger warning) a sex slave if that dude who tried to enslave her in frozen bonds succeeded. her whole character is all about being seen as Not Human by others, or being seen as an object, or being controlled, being infantilized, etc etc :(( which is sometimes by the narrative, sometimes by other characters, sometimes by tappei, and also sometimes by the fandom itself.

A ship I have with said character: emisuba 100%, even if i have some mixed feelings on it as of rn. like they are THE main ship of the series, and theyve been through all these ups and downs together. like subaru's earnest desire and determination to help her and save her Is Admirable, though of course he does go right into Obsession and Possessive Feelings, which was Brutally Rebuked in arc 3 and very well-written (though of course i hate some people's small brain takes on emisuba and emilia and arc 3 T^TT). like i LOVE seeing different sides to emilia and while subaru brings out her sweetness (she is SO SOFT with him... she DOES care about him so much!!!!) he's also brought out her rage and despair in arcs 3 and 4. kiss of death loop / greed if emilia is like giving subaru exactly what he wanted before - an emilia that only has eyes for Him. and Only Him. but it's all wrong T^TT and then theres like. all the other ifs too where emilias either dead or Generally Mentally Unwell - she of course has that distinct lack of control in wrath and pride if over a lot of things :((

though like. i LOVE emisuba's parallels - they were very lonely people, are connected by satella breathing down their necks (metaphorical or literal), and i think their personalities just click well together!! T^T that and like. theyre capable of bringing out either the best or the worst in each other, along with all the layers of what rbd does to their relationship (like. subaru dying way too many times to save her. puck killing subaru and the whole world bc of her death. emilia being unaware about rbd and the witch cult at first and how her previous parent figures are Now Archbishops. satellas involvement. and the question of does subarus rbd take away free will from other people when he can just reset? and the Loads of guilt emilia is gonna feel about this. etc etc.) all of which i think is fascinating.

and like. i love how they dont get together right away after arc 4. like it makes SENSE to me i dont get those people who complain that they didnt start dating and then they point fingers at emilia for not reciprocating. like they Clearly Like Like each other, you just get the sense that theyre saving more of a romantic pursuit for later, u know? and it makes sense to me!! like speaking as someone with some Serious Romantic Relationship experience - yeah going from friendship to like overt romance and then actually maintaining your relationship can be Very Tricky. especially when both emilia and subaru are mentally ill and not completely prepared for it bc there is just. different expectations. and theyve never been in a romantic relationship before. and theres also like All Their Trauma that they havent fully addressed or gotten over at all. like NEITHER of them are fully prepared yet and theres all the chaos of arcs 5-8 happening so theres no time to go right into that stuff right now either. and i love that tappei did that. and tbh i think all the people who think emisuba shouldve been in a romantic relationship post arc 4 are Media Illiterate. like guys. it is completely fine and Healthy for emisuba to take their time with pursuing a romantic relationship with each other. they LITERALLY have all the time in the world.

HOWEVER. tappei stop infantilizing emilia im so tired T^TT like all the stuff about how she doesnt know what sex is and all that.... and it almost feels like her not 100% knowing what romantic love is is kind of framed in the same way as her not knowing sex??? like the whole thing about emilia being pure and innocent (derogatory) - tappei pls im so tired T^TT it just feels like to me, arcs 3 and 4 did all this work of debunking the idea that emilia is this perfect angel who can do no wrong. she is Human. with flaws. and desires. and then tappei refuses to stop making her clueless about stuff like politics T^T let her develop!! bc by the time we get to arc 8 its like. it feels like emilia Still hasnt been through nearly as much development as subaru so narratively speaking they still feel unequal. like i know we had to focus on other people in arcs 5 and 6 and 7 and we still got some great emilia moments. but Still. like i do feel like emilia should have had a little more involvement starting from ARC 2 from the get go. like yes she already has her Moments. but like id love to see her be way more active in the plot, or at least see a bit more glimpses into her mental state. (which i think is partly whats added to some audiences missing the point and preferring rem over emilia and then all the rem vs emilia wars that have happened.) and she NEEDS development very badly. while its not impossible At All to be in a healthy relationship when both parties have a lot of trauma, even if one has more trauma than the other, its still like. narratively speaking emisuba is unbalanced. subarus had So Much Development and it feels like emilia is left by the wayside despite being like. the deuteragonist and female lead of the entire story? T^T it just feels like subarus allowed to be way more messy and human while emilia its like. shes not Allowed to be as messy and human despite the fact that arcs 3-4 was meant to showcase this. it just feels like it doesnt continue enough in later arcs. it feels like tappei just doesnt want to let emilia be more flawed T^T and by flawed i mean. flawed in a way that isnt just making her look very Stupid to Certain Audiences sometimes.

anywayyy this section is way too long but special shoutout to ramilia and reinhard/emilia. i think those ships have the potential to be very sweet or very unhinged. and i like the parallels that each ship has. and big shoutout to Canon Ramilia moments (them holding hands in season two of the anime. and also ramilia hugging in arc 8 ch14 <3). and i do think reinhard/emilia would be interesting in pride if particularly given how they both end up.....

A BROTP I have with said character: SPECIAL SHOUTOUT TO ANNEROSE AND EMILIA i love annerose's little crush on emilia and annerose's "emily" nickname (which emilia later uses as an alias in arcs 7-8). yes i do interpret annerose's crush as romantic in nature. but also iirc annerose was the one that taught emilia that babies come from kissing. which i absolutely Despise because GOD TAPPEI why are u having a nine year old teach a seventeen year old this........... BUT OTHER THAN THAT i love the annerose-emilia dynamic and the absolute sass annerose gives subaru. i think annerose and petra are super funny bc they have crushes on emilia and subaru respectively and then their little kid brains explode bc emisuba are so cute and lovey dovey together right in front of them. i think theyre hilarious.

A NOTP I have with said character: literally like..... almost any fanon version of emisuba. or like emisuba but emilia never finds out about rbd. thatd be my worst nightmare. like T^TT please. please no. like i know emilias a fictional character but the way people talk about her sometimes Literally makes me ill (metaphorical). like if you talk about a fictional person like that, how are you acting with real people...

General Opinion over said character: i LOVE EMILIA WITH MY WHOLE HEART. but i do think she deserves a lot better :(( both in terms of writing and in terms of. how shes seen by so much of the fandom. like both in and out of universe shes blamed for things out of her control. she barely knows shit about the witch cult. she has no idea about rbd. shes dealing with her own trauma regarding lying and others sacrificing herself for her (remember whats happened to fortuna and petelgeuse and archie? T^T) and hurting others on accident. shes been so dehumanized and lonely and alone that seeing someone like subaru care so much about her is Completely Foreign to her. hes like in pain and sticking his neck out So Much for her and its like??? shes got no say in that either hah... T^T like i feel like sometimes people forget that subaru made the choice to follow emilia. there are literal routes in this story where subaru does not follow emilia and has a better life (usually at the cost of. a lot of people dying though). hes chosen to follow emilia over and over again. emilia tries her best with the cards she's been dealt, and she has no control over all of these higher forces trying to destroy her for one reason or another. and with her upbringing its like T^T being told what to do and who you are and generally being Spoken Over your whole life does not make you remotely confident or competent at much. it teaches you helplessness. and that youre useless on your own. which is what i think has been happening with emilia T^T i just think its sad that even how audiences see her reflects how the rest of the world in universe sees her. like she is a victim here also. she is DOOMED by the narrative all the time as well. and post-arc 4, too, she IS MORE ACTIVE and also trying her best!!! pls!!! (special shoutout to her and the emilia camp IMMEDIATELY going "yes we NEED to get to subaru quickly LETS GO TO VOLLACHIA" in arc 7.) people forget all of this and blame her for every little thing instead.

and ALSO shes a great character!!! i adore her!!! she has EVEN MORE potential for further development!!!! and with how subarus been dealt with the quadruple whammy of arcs 5-8 happening LITERALLY back to back in the same time span... and the insane levels of trauma in arcs 6-7 ALONE, subaru is in desperate need of a break. and emilia is in desperate need of development and i am tired of tappei putting her on a pedestal in his mind. tappei pls i want to see emilia being challenged and going through insane subaru levels of development T^T

what i love about star struck the most is how characters are portrayed as humans, with flaws on BOTH sides because, a lot of times, both parties are struggling, with all kinds of emotions. and the series portrays exactly this but in two different types:

we have the socially drawn back, who appears more calm, hanjoon who keeps things to himself because he feels inferior (he thinks yoojae cares about how much money he has, he belittles himself). when he voices his thoughts, they are direct and polite, but they can also spit fire

and then we have the more open, who appears more lively, yoojae who keeps things to himself because he feels he would hurt hanjoon (the money thing especially). when he voices his thoughts, they are rude, thorny and hurtful.

they are both perfect potrayals of human beings. even the amount of stress, angst, anxiety and miscommunication they've got going on is real. even in close friendships, you'll find such situations from time to time - those situations do strengthen the bond, IF the people involved actually care for each other (and both do). theres no friendship without real fights.

and i do think that yoonjae is struggling with some type of internalized homophobia or just doesnt understand feelings at all- the possibility is high, if we look at his family (theres literally no love involved and i guess there is much strained emotions between him and his mom as well), and a lot of times it also feels like he has already given up on himself (when he says hes just like his parents). and hanjoon is the other side of the coin. there was no adult to guide him thought friendship or love either- yet, he tries his best, but fails ultimately. a beautiful depiction how growing up without parents can manifest within people.

but most importantly: both keep secrets from each other which means no one of them is perfect and both are kinda assholes to one another. both kept from each other how they'd move out/part ways with their parents. and both were mad at each other for exactly this reason.

while yes, yoojae may be an ass (as he shows it outright in some parts), hanjoon is one as well even if its not as visible and hidden under a layer of composure. no matter how often yoojae tells hanjoon he doesnt care about how much money he has, the latter one does not understand it and it hurts yj's feelings as well.

i really hope people will look at both characters in a nuanced way and not take any sides because neither hj nor yj is perfect. yes we can, and should criticize yj, but we should also do the same with hj.

quite literally every detail i could find on my own on the welcome home website that isnt explicitly related to any of the arg elements

keep in mind im on mobile, which we know causes some things to shift around, so if anyone who has access to a computer wants to add or correct anything, be my guest

- on the GIF of Frank's head rotating on the About Us page, there are these books that seem to say "HELLO. Its You Know Who?...... I'm Your Neighbor. Do you talk about me? You do. I see you." The red book at the bottom does not seem to have any legible text on it.

-In the about page, the question of what the owners favorite puppet is is as follows: "Everyone on our team has their favorite, but if you ask me, mine is Wally Darling! He is the most, as he would say." this implies that "__ is the most" or something similar is a catchphrase of sorts for Wally, which provides content for the "That's the most." image of him on Clown's website.

-as a lot of us know, the text in response to the "Why did you make this website?" question on the about page has some obscured text. if anyone wanted to know what was under this text, the passage is as follows:

"I hoped this website would grab the attention of someone who has seen this show before and could tell us about it. If this wasn't possible, then we wanted to be the first to showcase this lost piece of media to help spur on the search for its existence. Many of our guest book signatures have talked about seeing this show before, so this is a good sign. It mean it is inside of you too, then. Does it hurt?"

its worth noting that while the "it means it is inside of you" isnt hidden, the "does it hurt?" only shows up if you highlight the passage. also means is misspelled on the site but clown is 1 person doing all of this so dont be mean about it lol

-there is actually a good bit of hidden text in the about page. at the end of the "how many episodes are there?" portion, it reads "The numbers are so hard to read. Sometimes I can’t see them." and at the end of the "how did you begin your research into welcome home?" one, it reads "We are thankful to be the first to jump start this journey! But it hurts."

-on the first piece of restored and recovered materials, the newspaper clipping has some small text at the bottom. the most interesting thing to me is that wally comes with the Home playset

-in this drawing, you can see a painting of spirals (which we know wally loves to draw..) in the background, at Julies feet.

-this page has text on the side! while the majority of it is seemingly indescipherable (codebreakers please look at this), the bottom part does spell "Hello you," with a W at the end. almost like a signature. theres also a backwards "wait" in there but im not sure if that was intentional.

also, speaking of odd text, the way that "lovely eat" is spelled here feels off too.

-wallys hand (presumably) is present in this shot of a book page (which like. side note. who the hell is speaking in this. why does wallys response make no sense. wtf is up w that). similarly, on the page of wally reading a book and barnaby asking about it, the book wallys reading portrays the exact same scene currently taking place. somethings going on with wally and books! (theres also a weird layering effect with the text in the latter scene, and its worth noting that when barnaby asks if hes started reading books now, wally sas "no, just the one." maybe these are the same book??)

-on the links page, the banner that cycles thorough all the characters seems to linger on wallys for a moment longer.

-a lot of the content involving home and wally (particularly when hes staring right at you...) has home staring at Wally (i.e. the front page, the "There he is!" image) but it seems like home doesnt do the same for the other characters. pretty intriguing when you remember the "so below" page......

-also, ronald dorelaine is mentioned as the potential creator of the show. i just wanna point out that "dorelaine" sounds sort of similar to "darling," like its a bastardized form of the same word.

-the restored page displayed in the about section actually has text on it! it seems to say that Julie has two sisters and one brother, and it seems to imply that her family only consists of these siblings. theres more info about this in the news portion of the page, though. there is also a gloved hand, which i initially mistook for felt.

also, notice that the image has been destroyed primarily with paint, and with primary colors no less. i mean.. wally IS a painter, and his own colors seem to derive from the primaries, so i wonder if this implies that its him trying to destroy things? and if so, whos trying to bring them back? my moneys on eddie, since the about page says theyve been receiving materials in "brightly colored envelopes"

-Home seems to be in the windowsill of eddies post office.

-the file name for the front page image depicting wally is titled HELLO_edited.png, which might be another instance of wally reaching out to us through the file names.

-theres a counter at the bottom of the front page, too, which all the characters are looking at. if anyone can figure out wtf that means itd be appreciated. ((edit: its a view counter. <3))

1 - his character design it's basic, but i need somewhere to start. i LOVE phils character design, idk, maybe its just something to do with birds and green and me being a cosplayer. especially his new skin! it has details, anon, and they all have meaning. i love me some details with meaning. and bc its minecraft, and because minecraft is pixels, theres SO MUCH ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION. anyone can go COMPLETELY ham with the design if they want to and they all look SO COOL.

2 - EMERALD DUO okay so ill say it outright; im a qpr emduo sorta person. at the very least im an ‘old friends/war buddies/ex emperors emduo’ person. dont get me wrong, techno is the eldest child, but in the dsmp, he’s not phil’s kid, they’re just really old friends. AND OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM. ‘for you the world’ NEED I SAY MORE??? the emeralds, the phil risking his life to protect techno from the butcher army, the techno worrying about phil participating in doomsday, the complete and utter undying trust they have in each other. theyre not perfect, they still disagree and still have differing opinions but they sort it out and compromise and make sure each other is always okay!!! them!!!

3 - birb cphil is a bird we all know this. and this is leaning more into fanon not explicitly canon, but im including it because i can. phil is bird, he has bird brain. bird instincts and bird features, like hollow bones, chirping, nesting, preening, all the good stuff. it adds a layer of depth to his character thats so fun to play with when writing!! there’s so much potential for both angst and fluff and i love it so much. also i just love birds so yknow. win win situation for me.

4 - family, its messy phil is part of what i believe is the biggest canonical family on the dsmp. there’s four generations ffs. he has a son, a grandson, even a great-grandson. and it’s not perfect. wilbur is. wilbur, but even though he went mad and even though he lied in his letters he still cared enough to send letters in the first place, phil still cared enough to read them. phil still cared enough to drop everything for his son. it was messy and it was heartbreaking but that is what it is to be a father, i think. sometimes whats right is whats hardest and its phils love for wilbur that was forever just so clear. its the way fundy fucked up, its the way phil fucked up in return, its the way they made up without properly making up but phil was always, always there for fundy, always cared for him at least a little, because that’s his grandson.

5 - leading on from the above, kristin!! ANON DO YOU KNOW HOW COOL IT IS FOR PHIL TO BE MARRIED TO THE LITERAL GODDESS OF DEATH?? phil is a trophy husband and you cannot convince me otherwise. his wife is SO COOL and SO POWERFUL and he loves her SO VERY MUCH. yeah sure hes a het guy in a homonormative society but i can forgive him for that because his wife is amazing. also less cphil, more ccphil, but i think its SO FUCKING COOL AND/OR FUNNY that ccphil literally just. wrote his wife into the dsmp on a whim. THATS how much he loves her that even tho shes not involved in this thing hes doing she’s still there in some sense.

6 - immortality yeah cphil CAN die, but here’s the catch; he doesn’t. hes functionally immortal and godddd i love it so much. hes so fucked up from it, but i love that about him (more on that point later). cphil has lived through so much and he has known so much and he has gained and lost SO MUCH but he’s still going strong, hes still loving and living and trying. who knows when he’ll finally die, not him and certainly not us.

7 - WOO TRAUMA mans is SO FUCKED UP. god where to even START with this. phil has not processed a single emotion in 500 years and he does NOT plan on starting now thank you very much. his sons death? nah lets build a country instead. watching his best friend be executed? nope not processing THAT lets find somewhere else to live oh yeah also i almost died. phils favourite thing is avoiding emotions and busying himself with some Other Task for Someone Else (new lmanburg, training room, various farms for techno, just to name a couple) so he Doesnt Have To Think About Anything. also perception of time? hell no he’s gonna be working for days without realising it. this is not healthy. he does not intend to stop. he blames himself for so much and rarely ever accepts help from anyone at all.

8 - kindness dont get me wrong if you get on the wrong side of phil you will find out exactly why some know him as the angel of death, but if ur not on that side of him, hes just. so kind and so caring. that one time when ranboo was deliberately trying to trigger the enderwalk out, and phil ran in and got rid of all the splash water bottles because he thought ranboo was getting hurt? yeah. that. protecting tommy without hesitation or question when dream was chasing him? yeah. that. building new lmanburg because tubbo had enough on his plate and he needed something to do anything to do he needed to keep his hands busy then it would be okay it had to be okay he had to be okay? yeah. that. visiting techno even while he was under house arrest to make sure he was okay? yeah. that.

9 - hes such a chaotic little fuck this is something a LOT of the fandom seem to. ignore. phil is not this sophisticated, calm, rational father figure. he can be sometimes (at a push) but thats not who he is. he’s an absolute chaos machine, and a fucking deadly one at that. he’s bored and you’re in the general vicinity? bye living! i think its well summed up in that one clip of phil and techno in a village, and techno’s grabbing a couple supplies here and there, and phil is just fucking gutting the place even if he doesnt actually need those supplies. he will murder (for fun), he will explode shit (for fun), he will cause mass genocide (for fun), he will fucking. idk he’ll do it all for fun.

10 - history imo, phil and techno are some of the best—if not the most—fleshed out characters in the dsmp. part of this, i reckon, is because of the history they have. you cannot talk about dsmp cphil properly without acknowledging smp earth and hardcore at the very least. the antarctic empire is there, phil and techno carry its shields and wear its colours. the angel of death is familiar to most if not all, the love for fucking freezing temperatures is there too. phil did decanonise the connection to hardcore, but a) many people who care ignore that, b) i ignore that, and c) it was there for at least a little, it had influence for at least a little. cphil is and old character, he didn’t just blip into existence in the dsmp, he has real, solid, pre-established history.

1 - bad dad phil this one really gets me. i hate it, genuinely. phil was never and is not a bad dad. im not saying he was perfect, but he was not a bad dad. it is not his fault wilbur went mad, it is not his fault tommy was hurt so much in exile (more on that later), none of this is his fault. phil cares so much about his family and does everything he can for them, he was never neglectful or absent or anything of the sort.

so yeah, thats cphil for you! im more than happy to go into more detail about any of the above things, just ask! that goes for literally anyone btw. ill happily talk about fanon and more fandom characterisations, but ive tried to keep it as close to canon as i can so far. what’s great is that despite what he claims, ccphil is an excellent roleplayer and general storyteller, hes always adding little details and explaining reasoning behind things, so theres so much nuance and so much depth to cphil and the section of the world he inhabits. can you tell that cphil is my favourite character perhaps.

Tangents

okay, so heres that tangent I warned about

so for the last like 10 years I have had this fantasy of winning the lottery and starting a business.....that first part is mostly the fantasy, because without that theres no way I could afford to do the latter

basically it comes down to new technology that allows automation for small guys like me, stuff like these

basically with 3D printing and affordable cnc and laser cutting machines, a guy like me could have the man power of like 10 people, and if I hired maybe 10 people total to assist, I could easily do something on par with much bigger companies.

my initial fantasy just involved making guitars, granted more advanced guitars then I think the market insists upon, because they are locked in the habit of what has proven sellable to MOST people. fender scale length, bolt on neck, 2 humbuckers, faux les paul look and feel. every company does it, no shame. just not my thing.

I've had this idea, which I've experimented with and talked about in the past, the guitar of the future. Ive done mockups etc like this

but as I've grown older, honestly what I think it should really be is a cheap reliable guitar with a few tricks up its sleeve. so I have reimagined it as basically this

telecasters are simple, and on a cnc machine if you made it as layers that were later glued together, you could make it very easily. the 4x2 headstock is better for straight string pull, and helps eliminate tuning instability. replacing the old school pickups with active style pickups like emg would make it more versatile, and then adding the b bender, along with string drops a g bender, and maybe even a strap actuated bender, the guitar could cover a lot more roles then a standard electric guitar. plus I honestly think benders are cool and more people need to play them, so making them as cheap and accessable as possible is a good idea

just a simple guitar, maybe of paulownia or plywood, cut as 2 or 3 sections and glued together, and then maybe even using a circuit board instead of wire to speed up production, its a great idea.

but I started looking into what else I could do with this hypothetical company that basically 3D prints things, and cncs plywood

I guess bikes

I am a big fan of ebikes, mainly because I believe genuinely in the next 10 years they will begin to be a lot more common in most major cities, their prices will come down as there are more batteries in circulation for evs, and being able to make quick simple bikes like this to sell locally, it seems like a way to directy serve the market I want to live in.

I also looked into stereo equipment, as I am a big hifi guy, and I am a huge raspberry pi fan, so seeing stuff for hifi pi, again it would be a market i understand, and think shouldnt be so fuckin expensive

I also genuinely would love to make a cheap hammond organ clone

like sub $500, because when I was wanting to pickup the instrument it was very hard to get the $ together to do so, and I know if you could injection mold the keys, cnc the body print the circuit boards, and use an arduino or raspberry pi to run a soft synth hammond clone, you could easily hit that price point

more people need to play the organ

lastly is furniture

I love basic designs and furniture has always been something that I enjoy looking at, modern furniture designs, stuff from the last 50s early 60s, its so timeless and the open source furniture movement just scratches that itch. it's simple, but stylish, its utilitarian but it doesnt look bland

the idea of being able to make these things, locally, and just being able to put out into the world things I want and I know other people would too.....I think i'd like that

just wish I didnt have to win the lottery to do it
