the two of you sit there for a while while he comforts you when you tell him out of the blue that you're on your period

it takes him a minute but he eventually puts two and two together, and apologizes again. expect anything cute he saw at the store that reminded him of you piled on your bed tonight :)

he's probably the worst at handling that kind of thing, but he's great to turn to if you need a distraction

he once heard that if you're focused on something, you kind of forget about the pain?? he's not sure how true it is but he's willing to try. of course, your choice of game, movie, or show with as many breaks as needed

the two of you were gaming together in his room, and after you fell of a cliff in game, the waterworks started. he freaked out and wasn't sure what to do. was it out of frustration? or did you want to do something else?

he's suddenly apologizing over and over again about anytime he might have said something accidently insensitive, which was never as far as you remember. from time to time, he'll nervously thrust a gift into your hands and then scurry away, and after you open it you see gifts to help out during your period that look expensive. how sweet <3

as he's forever curious about humans, even before he gets close to you, he's been observing you

he hopes not in a creepy way but he started to pick up on the changes in behavior about once a month. he mentally noted it and tried to make an effort to avoid disturbing you during this time

until eventually one time he ran into you by accident in the library, and you started bawling. you weren't close at this point, so he was at a loss for what to do. after you had vanished, he wanted to make it up to you so he made you a cup of herbal tea hopefully the way you liked it and made his way to your room

it was at this point you sat and talked about things, which is when your first real conversation began. during that conversation you came out to him

from that point forward in your relationship, he made it a routine to bring you a cup of tea or hot chocolate, as well as some tips he thinks might help. it really helped bond the two of you :)

while around that time of month, you tried to make a better effort for self care, which asmo adores since that means you join him more often

at some point during one of these sessions, you accidently dropped a face mask, and while he was glad to get you a new one, you started to cry, which got more intense after he asked what was wrong

after he comforted you and gave you the time you needed to decompress, you come out to him and tell him you're on your period

he actually had an array of products on hand that he thought might help, so the two of you spent the rest of your evening trying them out so you could find your favorites

while he knows that anyone can own a heating pad, he did notice that you brought it out only once a month for a short period of time

he never guessed anything otherwise, he only knew because it would be warmer when he got into bed with you

you can often find him take advantage of this and you'll have to scoot him over so you can actually use it haha

one day in the middle of the night, he wakes up to an empty bed, so he moves into your spot and fell back asleep eventually. he woke up again to you sitting on a chair in your room, crying

he gets up, still half asleep to comfort you. after the two of you sit together for a while, he was able to help you fall back asleep

the next morning, while he was half asleep again, you told him and it took him a minute to process, but of course he accepts you. if you ever want, he can give you particularly sweet dream on nights when you have your period :)

Watching something as iconic as NGE is kinda funny because every now and then something happens and you're like "oh! that guy! from tumblr!"

General thoughts:

Poor Shinji. Dude keeps getting put in situations.

The Ender's Game comparison keeps coming up for me - child soldiers utterly essential to the cause. The big difference is that they are just completely flubbing their psychological management in NGE - in Ender's Game they had eyes on the kids 24/7 and maintained in-depth psychological profiles on all of them, whereas in NGE they have loads of money and manpower focused on maintaining the EVAs but their equally-essential pilots are just... going to school. Shinji got punched and they didn't know!

And what is Misato's deal, anyway? She's in her 20s and has a crazy amount of authority (she just requisitioned all of Japan's power) and they're just kinda... letting her manage Shinji? It's not her job, but she's just doing it? She's his commanding officer but also his mom/sister, which is a really bad combo. Also I don't think I'm imagining the grooming undertones, those seem intentional.

The real motivator for someone like Shinji is (of course) his social connections - the two schoolkids and Rei, and then maybe to some degree Misato, and then even more distantly his father. Kids don't put themselves through severe distress just for the abstract concept of "saving the world," especially a world that has thus far been very unkind to them. To bring back the Ender's Game comparison, this feels like a very deliberate point that Graff and friends were aware of (the way they used Valentine as a strategic resource) but in NGE it seems to be mostly happenstance that Shinji made some human connections before completely shutting down.

Rei thus far is an interesting foil to Shinji. Normally I get kind of put off by scenes like the one where he walks in on her, but it gives you a lot of important information about both of them. Shinji, underneath all the abandonment issues and repression, is still a pretty normal kid - awkward, horny in that embarrassing adolescent way, deeply self-conscious. Rei is alien (or perhaps just very autistic). She just doesn't clock 90% of the tension at all. She pilots the EVA without complaint (though perhaps with equal psychological distress, just heavily repressed). She also gets along very well with his shitass dad, which is revealing in its own way.

I'm told there is another child, a red haired one, named Asuka(?), the thus-far only implied Second Child. Wonder why she isn't here yet?

I heard that it was some kind of twist that the EVAs were alive in some sense, but doesn't that naturally follow from the first couple episodes? Unit 01 moves to save Rei without a pilot and then goes berserk to kill the angel. Maybe there's more to the twist that I don't know yet.

What's up with the angels? Why are they here, what do they want, what are they exactly? Who cares. They are a plot device in purest form - they enable the rest of the show, but the show is not meaningfully "about" them. They didn't half-ass it though - the designs are absolutely phenomenal.

Oh, and there's some second project NERV is working on, a human transformation thing that got mentioned once and never again. That will probably be important eventually.

Due to being a yandere centered around family, I feel AJ would be physically and verbally affectionate with her obsession. She nuzzles you, hugs you, and always makes sure to praise you. She's very determined and honest with you, often wanting to make sure you have every need fulfilled. I'd say there's times she gets carried away and smothers you, you're just too darn cute to her.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

I usually stay as canon as I can, but for this concept I want to delve darker for fun. I imagine due to AJ's competitive nature she may threaten other ponies. Although... She doesn't typically attack anypony.

However... What if she does it when you're not looking?

Maybe AJ does get rid of other ponies, perhaps after she locks you away at the farm, She takes care of other ponies who get too close to the truth. You'll never know, though... The farm mare is an expert at doing dirty work and you may just assume all the dirt is from farm work. Without a close look... You'll never notice the blood on her hooves.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

AJ is a very caring pony towards those she loves. Once she gives you your own space at the farm, Drugging you with a tampered baked good, She promises to take good care of you as her beloved.

She would never mock you, often asking if you're hungry or need anything as she sits beside you on the bed. She always tells you she loves you and makes sure you're comfortable. Well... as comfortable as you can be with a restraint wrapped around your leg.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

She tries not to, but AJ can be disciplinary, she's stern and if you end up "misbehaving" she won't tolerate such behavior.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

AJ is very honest and open due to being the Element of Honesty. She bares her heart to you and while she doesn't like being vulnerable, there's times she will be. She loves you and wants to show that as best as she can.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

AJ seems like she would not tolerate you trying to fight her. I imagine she'd quickly put an end to it, probably with her lasso if you're so insistent on leaving her family.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

No and she doesn't enjoy you trying to escape so often.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

I imagine eventually her punishments aren't going to be mild any more. If you keep running from her, she may just resort to restricting your movement. Imagine if you broke a leg... AJ will say it was due to doing farm work, but you both know the truth.

Perhaps she isn't incapable of lying if she tries hard enough.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Since this is romantic, she wants to have you as her spouse as she works on the farm. Her family would love you... she just knows it!

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

If she does, AJ does not usually show it. She usually keeps it out of your view, but if you talk to other ponies and she inserts herself into the conversation... that's a good sign she's irritated.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Determined/Persistent, Manipulative, Competitive, Controlling, Protective and Caring.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

She most likely met you as hired help on the farm or with one of the other Mane Six. Perhaps you originally just meant to offer a helping hoof and became friends with AJ.

This soon leads into a crush... she ends up following you around... and soon she doesn't want you to leave the farm.

As expected, she only seems to get worse before she's confessing and trapping you with her.

Yes, actually. Normally she's been so honest... but when she meets you, things appear to change.

Restraints, isolation, maybe even starvation.

Although, if you run away long enough, she may cripple one of your legs even if she hates it.

None if you're compliant, she only considers taking things away if you don't listen to her... as delusional as she is.

I'd say moderate patience when it comes to her, she has patience but she can lose it if she hits her limit.

She's determined and may go look for you if you ran off. If you died? Well... she'd take a really long time to get over that... if at all.

Not a worship yandere, but you can imagine she'd go to huge lengths to get you back... even if your relationship isn't healthy and she knows it would be better to let you go at times.

Hm... I'd say maybe years? She probably wants to try "courting" you normally first.

Vecna’s plan requiring Mike to leave for California means nothing. The number 1 following Mike cryptically at the airport means nothing. Them barely giving us Mike’s perspective the last two seasons (despite him being the original protagonist) means nothing and it isn’t setting up his POV to be revealed in s5 bc the entire audience is completely comfortable with where Mike stands as a character in regards to his deeper feelings/motives. No confusion there so no need to address that. Mike saying How will I survive a whole week without you guys at the start of s4 wasn't foreshadowing his fate at the end of said week. Mike standing in front of exit signs 3+ times in s4 is probably just a coincidence. Mike being associated with gaping mouths in multiple moments spanning the entire series, even going back to his very first line on the show, means nothing at all. Nancy’s vision about her family (Mike) dying was mentioned at the end of s4, but it didn’t happen so probably won’t ever happen, even though there’s still another season left set directly after the events of s4. Will calling Mike the heart and how without heart they’d all fall apart, was not in any shape form foreshadowing something happening to Mike and them all falling apart, bc Mike is definitely just a prop and everything in relation to his story only holds meaning on the surface or for other characters arcs and couldn’t possibly be hinting at something deeper that’s being saved as one of the many surprises for the last season.

trying to assign animal forms to sins pretty much went like "well, crocodiles eat a lot/swallow food whole and bulls get angry and lions laze around a lot" but there aren't really animals that are. Lacking In Traits, if that makes sense. trying to assign an animal to sinless would be a bit like. well... amoebas don't Do a lot, so. maybe them? but even then they're driven to consume and reproduce lmfao

sinless isn't a state of goodness or purity (which. can those things even be assigned to animals anyway, Who Knows), it's just a Lack of other sins ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

if i Absolutely Had to assign something i'd probably make it something plant-y, for plot reasons relating to. the balance between chaos and law lmfao. plants have a more complex interrelationship with each other and the rest of the world than we've really figured out yet so this still seems like a bit of a disservice to plants to assume they don't feel wrath or gluttony or whatever (anyone who has encountered honeysuckle and wisteria respectively knows they Absolutely Do) but for the sake of worldbuilding a distinctly non-human neutrality on something like this probably falls under the jurisdiction of The Warp, a sort of shadow mirror of the mortal world filled with endless forests where satyrs and fairies and creatures like that come from.

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

Red Son, from what I've seen, seems like a character who would often want attention and approval from his obsession. When it comes to affection, he isn't big on physical affection. However, I feel when he finds the right person, he just can't get enough of them.

Once he deems you as the person he loves and trusts most, Red Son comes off as clingy intense, and smothering.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

He's short tempered and I feel he'd threaten... but I'm not sure if he'd really enjoy killing someone. His parents are both villains, yes, but I think he'd hesitate on following through unless someone pushed him.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

Honestly, I can see Red Son kidnapping you and trying to play it off as some big villainous scheme... But in reality he just really likes you.

At first he has you tied to a chair in his room, acting like he's going to interrogate you. Then all of a sudden he's confessing... trying to hold your hand... and showing you around with a smile.

He would not mock you, he treats you with a surprising amount of care.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

He may seem like he will... but he actually tries not to as you're the only one he feels he can open up to.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

At first it doesn't seem like a lot. However, eventually you become the main person he can open up to. With his obsession, he's vulnerable and open with his heart as he really wants you to accept and validate him and his feelings.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

Disappointed, in denial, and upset. He confides in you... and you fight him???

He is completely ignoring the fact he has most likely kidnapped you.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

No and he wouldn't like it at all.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

Well, he's a Fire Demon... son of the infamous Bull King. As an inventor, he may create things to keep you in check or have an eye on you.

I imagine two worst things could either be him kidnapping you and forcing you to wear a tracker... or seeing him lose his temper on someone and nearly killing them.

He hates to scare you.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

He probably wants something like his parents as it's the only relationship he knows. He wants to love you, get married, and have you as his spouse.

It would help if his parents approve of you.

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

Yes he does. He will most likely lash out due to his temper. Usually he lashes at other people, although sometimes he accidentally yells at you.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Obsessive, Clingy, Manipulative, Controlling, Caring, Possessive, and probably also Protective.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

He probably met you through MK, as much as he hates to admit it. Ever since then he's found himself thinking about you, growing fond of you to the point of following you around or stalking your socials.

Eventually he drops his ego enough to try and be your friend. You're one of his only friends and you listen to him. He's never had such a connection with someone like this....

Then, he thinks this must be love! Clearly he can't stop thinking about you, so he must be in love! Which gets him plotting on how to go about this.

He gives gifts, attempts to be close to you, and it's safe to say... he has no idea what he's doing... and his emotions certainly aren't normal or healthy. Not like he knows that though.

Is this not how villains love?

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

Not really... although he is softer with you.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

I want to say burning but I'm not sure if he's that cruel? Branding does seem like something he could do... if not restraints and isolation.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

Originally he tries not to take any, but he'll take what he feels his "necessary."

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

Red Son falls under impatient more than patient. He has a temper issue so he has his limits.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

He probably wouldn't and would be desperate to find a way to bring you back to him.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

Not really, but he might. Also, he probably would not let you go without knowing exactly where you are.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

Probably a combination of curiosity and childhood.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

He feels upset and confused. He isn't the best at comfort, but since he loves you he should try, right? He does his best... for better or for worse.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

SKIPPED

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Reciprocate his affections, or at least play along... and you'll have some freedoms to work with.

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?

Not unless he has to punish you.

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

I feel there's times he can be a worship yandere when he looks past his own ego. He'd do anything to have you... he's the Demon Bull King's son. He should have you if he wants!

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

I'd say months to a year and a half, maybe?

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

Not intentionally.

“Why is Danny’s place still frozen?” Steve demanded as soon as he saw Duke. 

“Our water-benders are trying, but there is a limit to their ability,” Duke replied. 

Steve’s clarity was being disrupted by his worry over Danny, so he snapped, “Limit? It’s ice! They’re water-benders!” 

Duke often revered to Steve with the respect gained by his rank, in both military and as Avatar, as well as the respect he was born with as a McGarrett. But in that moment, he was an older Hawaiian native who gave a strict gaze as he reminded Steve of where they lived. “You have traveled far and seen many other places. Maybe it has escaped your memory that out of all the benders that live or visit our small islands, water is arguably the one with most restrictions and rules. Only a limited few water-bending masters exist here who are experienced with colder temperatures and ice or snow manipulation.”

Steve closed his eyes for a moment to collect himself before he opened them again and apologized. “Sorry, Duke. It’s...it’s Danny, y’know?” 

“I do. And I know that there’s no one else on this island who knows those ice bending restrictions better than him. Given how much flack he got in the early months of him being here. So I understand your concern...but these ice structures were created by Danny himself. They’re fortified with the strength that will take the Hawaiian August sun hours to melt. We can’t get inside yet.”

“Yeah, well...I’m here now. Let me work.” It was nearly a threat but it most certainly was a warning. Duke called off the benders and let Steve try. 

Steve has begun his water bending training but it was with the basics. Learning to alter the water’s temperature to make it freeze or unfreeze wasn’t anywhere near the curriculum. Didn’t mean he didn’t try. Except he was too angry because he didn’t want to be worried. 

So he stopped trying to water-bend the ice away and instead unleashed his fury with his fire-bending until he saw some of the ice give way before earth-bending a stalagmite to shatter it’s way through. 

I started thinking about world building rules and them being applied to different fandom. Implementing the Avatar bending to H50, and it made me think. Being surrounded by so much water, water benders are pretty dangerous. They always have a weapon, and if they’re mastered it enough the humidity in the air, even if there isn’t an obvious body of water, they still have access to it( never mind potential gangs and criminal organization potentially having Blood Benders). 

Then I was thinking, how much of the average tourist would a)not know a fuck shit about the proper water temperature a place, it’s plant life, and animal life need to remain stable? And b)would be assholes to try and make their own waves or bigger waves or retaliate against anyone or to show off? 

Beaches in an Avatar AU would have STRICT rules in place. Lifeguards might need to be specially trained to like a military level to secure the peace, ensure the safety of native plant and animal life.

Water benders, no matter the profession or life style they lead/live, if they’re in Hawaii they are limited to just water bending. Healing, yes...but when it comes to temperature control...there are like...two official water bending MASTERS who know how to turn water into snow or ice. And it’s become a thing where it’s just been like that for so long that no one really questions it unless they’re not from there. 

I made Danny a Water-Bender and with how winters are on the east coast, and because I personally headcanon Danny to just have a more affinity to colder climates, to him ice and snow are second nature. And because he came from a big city where younger water benders as young as 7-8 year olds make their first bit of chump change by offering to snow-bend the drive ways of little old ladies or get more allowance if they wake up and defrost their parent’s car...when Danny first came to Hawaii as he followed Grace, seen as an outsider with the element that may have the most restrictions, particularly in his specialty. It was hard but Danny learned to ‘control’ himself..aka adjust his mannerism. (He’s always in control. Just...things that were normal for him are a big deal on the island, but he has never been out of control of his element. Danny is also a Blood Bender and that’s why but it’s not knowledge anyone knows and he’s terrified of anyone learning)  

Steve has seen plenty of Danny’s power, potential, and most importantly his control. It’s why Steve chose Danny to be his Water bending master instead of the native Hawaiian born they wanted to assign him. There are also a lot of deeper feelings involved, so Steve hearing that Danny elsa fortressed himself means something is very wrong! 

but on like a lighter note, when they need something from Kamekona, Danny has bribed him with water-bending him x-lbs of shaved ice. 

#what is time anymore? #some time ago I think my darling cowandcalf tagged me in a wip tag game but I haven't really had the time #I have two other fics in the avatar au verses but they were on a whim of what I wanted #which is valid sure but I do want to tackle it again but with...a more serious hand #The weight of the Avatar resting on Steve's shoulders as he came into his powers late #he struggles with being fair when he was brought up in the American Navy when he now has to represent the spirits and elemental benders of #ALL four nations as 5-0 becomes a more international/global kind of task force #Danny's backstory is expanded as his powers and abilities are applied in ways that would really bond him and Steve #through a lot more angst and trauma and they keep coming into these situations where they keep ending up choosing the other #when they've either never been the one chosen or the one left behind #And Steve's hero status is questioned by his loyalty to Danny because rather than let Danny be sacrificed for the greater good #Steve taps into his Avatar State to save Danny(probably from Colombia and in the process make political waters muddy) #And eventually Danny blood bends to save Steve and they would break or rewrite the rules of nature EVERY time if it means they can save the #other...whom they love with all their hearts #so anyway yeah this is something I'm working on when the motivation and inspiration strike xD

ow2 PvE NEEDS to majorly knock it out of the park to bring back a large casual audience to overwatch. Many casual players that have stuck around seem to hate the existence of role queue and are potentially unaware that there’s a gamemode called “quickplay classic” and that there is a classic form of comp too which is surprising to me. But still. I have a shit ton of hope for them doing well because this glimpse into PvP direction for ow2 is just SO good that I think the game can thrive if they get enough time on the PvE aspects.

#I say it’s so good because it’s legitimately extremely fun! it may not look very different to many players #but good god it is answering all of my problems with the game and is so damn FUN that I’m hopeful #I genuinely have a lot of thoughts on this but I’m like. #sad that casual players simply don’t understand how much better the beta is even with the changes that seem very minor to them #I’ll probably make an actually long post abt it eventually but today I’m way too tired to share my thoughts about the importance of the #casual audience #the issue is finding the middle ground of #game MUST be balanced top down bc it’s competitive + fun for casual players so that it can continue to exist #but god I feel bad for devs. if you remember some of the walkouts discussing working conditions #suits coming in demanding things giving a shitty deadline them pulling it off and then they come back to say scrap it and do something else #like. I just hope they have major progress in the PvE. #I think they need to add a bunch of playable characters that like.. even if they aren’t immediately available in qp/comp #are able to be used in the story mode or custom games #because like… there’s not a ton of ways to get casual players in if it doesn’t feel like a new game #bc again suits wanted a sequel but devs knew it’d be an expansion #which means it’s nearly impossible to meet both expectations of fans and company higher ups #anyways my tags r long. this is a brief overview of the shit I will probably talk about tho #c talks
