My hot take is that I don’t like Hamilton. It’s a hot take because every time I say I don’t like Hamilton, someone says to give it a chance. My brother in Christ, it’s been years, you’re not going to change my mind.

What made you dislike Bucci Gang aside from them killing La Squadra, mostly your fave Illuso?
Didn't they also kill people to reach their goal, but the Bucci Gang doing it for the greater good, and the La Squadra doing it to overthrow the Boss and continue the drug trade by themselves.
To be honest, I think the fandom contributed pretty heavily to my dislike of the Bucci gang. I actually didn’t mind them all that much when I first watched part 5, but the way a lot of their fans (mostly on Twitter) tend to behave towards criticism or even just any slightly negative opinion of the characters is just… yikes. I feel like a lot of people tend to forget that even though the Bucci gang were the protagonists, they were still in the mafia and did just as many bad things as everyone else regardless of their reasoning behind it. No one in Passione had the moral high ground. There were no good guys and bad guys. Just a bunch of messed up people in unfortunate circumstances who all had their own reasoning for doing what they did. Some were worse than others, yes. But they were all criminals at the end of the day.
It’s easy to see La Squadra as the villains because they’re presented as such in the series, but their motives had very little to do with the drug trade. Yes, they were severely underpaid and jealous of the money that the drug peddlers were making, and it’s possible that this was the reason that Sorbet and Gelato attempted to find out Diavolo’s identity in the first place. But the reason that Risotto and the rest of La Squadra ended up going after him was ultimately more about revenge and getting their team the respect they deserved. This is mainly why I don’t like referring to them as villains. Because to me, their reasoning was just as valid as the Bucci gang’s.
Despite this though, their fans really like to try and villainize La Squadra, while making it seem as though the Bucci gang could do no wrong. When again, neither one was worse than the other. And they take this to the absolute extreme. Personally, I only have experience with the Fugo fans going after me. But I’ve seen and heard about similar things happening time and time again, and it’s just kind of ruined the characters and any enjoyment I might’ve had of them imo. I’m aware that not ALL Bucci gang fans are like this, and it’s mostly just on jojotwt which is a special kind of hell, but it’s definitely made me a little bitter.
The plot armor they were given in the series also drives me absolutely insane. It didn’t bother me too much the first time around, but rewatching part 5 really made me realize how stupid a majority of the fights were. There were SO MANY instances where La Squadra could’ve and should’ve won, but didn’t for the absolute dumbest reasons. This is admittedly a bit more of a petty reason for disliking the Bucci gang, but it’s just so frustrating to me watching those fights back- I also just kinda find some of them annoying but if I talk about that too much I fear I’ll be obliterated,

A LONG DAY | MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER
Tumblr media
At the end of a long day, your husband really is the best person to come home to.
Word Count: 2.9k
Warning/Includes: Husband!Matthew !!! Dad!Matthew !!! Delusional fluff!! Even more delusional smut!!
The worst part of getting home so late isn’t the body aches, it isn’t the exhaustion, it’s not even the dozens of bright headlights that blind you on the way home. It’s the darkness. Everything is so dark. You pull into the driveway and the porch light is out, the garage is pitch black. Shutting your car off, you take a moment to lean your head back and sigh, gaining the strength to grab all of your crap, open the door and stumble through the garage. You trip over your daughter’s bike, but you catch yourself and you think you’re going to burst into tears. Instead, you step into the basement where it is almost as dark, save for the soft light of TV where your husband sits on the couch, doing absolutely nothing but wait for you.
Matthew turns around and his face just instantly lights up, “Hey, mama,” he rises to his feet. He takes your bag, your lunchbox and sets them down so he can give you a big, tight, hug. Arms wrapped securely around your waist, face buried in your neck, he whispers, “I missed you.”
And your entire body melts into his, your hands gripping onto his shoulders as you sigh out, “I missed you.” Then he hugs you tighter, lifts you off your feet.
When he puts you down, you still don’t let go, and he chuckles under his breath, but he holds you until you’re ready to let go.
“How are the babies?” you ask him.
“Oh, they’re good,” he nods, and he takes your hand, guides you over to the monitors perched on the coffee table. “They’re asleep. Went down pretty easy.”
“Did they ask about me?” You ask, leaning down to caressing Leo’s face on the screen.
“C’mon, you know they did,” Matthew smiles. “I told them that you were at work but you love them and you’d see them first thing in the morning.”
Your fingertips trace Amelia’s face, and then slowly over Rhiannon’s and it makes you so very sad. Heavy weight on your shoulders, deep in your chest, sad. When you get home late and it’s pitch dark, bedtime has come and gone. The day has come and gone. And the guilt absolutely eats you alive.
Matthew rubs your back, running the heel of his hand up your spine, “Have you eaten?”
You sigh, “Not since lunch,” shaking your head, standing up straight.
“Oh god, babe, let me make you something.”
You release a sharp breath from your nose and instantly rest your forehead on his shoulder.
You are so tired.
“Hm?” he hums, holding you tight.
You give nothing more than a nod, but that’ll do.
“Yeah?” he whispers. “Okay, let’s go upstairs.”
He follows behind you with your stuff up and you close the door behind him, officially lock the house up for the night. Walking towards the stairs, you take a look around and comment, “It’s clean as hell in here.”
He laughs, “Well, thank you for noticing. Shout out to your kids for taking some good naps today so I could actually get some of their shit picked up.”
You give him a dry laugh. It would’ve been louder but you just simply lack the energy.
“Oh, baby, you’re tired,” he kisses your cheek. “Go ahead,” he nods towards the stairs. “I’ve got your food. Go lay down, mama.”
And you really don’t need to be told twice. So you give him a gentle kiss, a quiet, “Thank you,” and you drag yourself up the stairs. You hop in the shower with the pure intention of making it quick, but you take a seat on the floor, letting the water run over your body for much longer than you mean to. Still a bit damp, you throw on Matthew’s shirt and crawl into your bed on all fours, collapsing on the mattress when you reach your designated side. Snuggling into your pillow, you moan under your breath, the relief and comfort washing over you all at once.
Matthew steps into the room, quietly closing the door behind him. And with him is a small plate topped with a sub sandwich and a side of chips. “Is this okay, baby?”
You roll over to take a look, at the sandwich done up with your favorite meats and cheese, the chips you go to when you need a snack. And it is so obvious that someone who knows you and loves you put it together. “Yes, my love,” you smile. “Yes, it’s perfect. Thank you.” You take the plate from him and set it on your nightstand.
“You sure?” he asks as he crawls in beside you, plops down on the bed. “I packed you the same thing for lunch tomorrow, but if you’d prefer something else, I can do that for you.”
You look up at him, run your finger over his collarbone, hook it onto the collar of his shirt. You go to speak, but you lose your train of thought as you touch his hair and his chin, “…take your pants off.”
And you swear, he nearlys goes - what? - but he catches himself. He shuts himself up very quickly and nods, no questions asked. He slides his pants over his hips and down his legs, his briefs flying off the edge right along with them.
You push your panties down, kick them off like it’s what they were meant for all along. As you climb on top of Matthew, his breath catches in his chest and he moans at the soft touch of your lips on his. His arms take you in out of instinct, his hands work their way up your waist and grope your boobs. You hum, holding his face in your hands as you grind your hips on him, feel his cock come alive between your legs.
The warmth of it all has him struggling to keep sane, with him constantly groaning against your lips, digging his nails into your thighs.
“Wait, wait,” he huffs, pushing your hair out of your face. “Don’t…don’t you wanna eat first?”
“Mm-mm,” You shake your head, arch your back and tangle your hands in his hair, “After.”
He nods and opens his mouth just a bit so your tongue can slide between his lips. Your mouths gets slimy and slippery but the two of you cannot stop. You only part so you can spit into your own palm, which you proceed to rub over your pussy. Matthew watches you in astonishment, his eyes glistening as you purr and touch yourself so close to his cock. When you notice, you give him a slutty smile, bite down on your lip and it almost kills him.
He pulls you in for another kiss. This one, longer. Dirtier, all consuming. You grab onto his rock hard cock, covering him in your saliva, feeling him twitch in your palm. His breath shudders and he buckles underneath you, looking up at you with hooded and heavy eyes. You press your nose into his, aligning his cock so that you sink onto it just right.
The small whine you let out is eclipsed by his deep, “Oh!” and he quiets down, muttering, “Fuck…”
You brace yourself on his shoulders, your foreheads pressed together as you move yourself up and down. Slow at first, but then Matthew rests his head on the headboard, his jaw dropped and his forehead beading with sweat and he mumbles, “Oh my god…”
“Yeah?” you moan, caressing his face, and your hips pick up in speed. In intensity, landing on him with a loud, wet thump each time.
“Oh, fuck yes, baby,” he whimpers. “Come here,” he pulls you in by the back of your neck, kissing you with his other hand planted firmly on your ass.
You run your hands down his biceps, squeezing them as you whine from the back of your throat. Your body loses energy but can’t stop bouncing on him, grinding your clit into his tummy. Your breath is shaky, but strong enough to grow in volume, your jaw dropping against Matthew’s mouth as you release your incessant moans. He puts his open mouth on your neck, his tongue on your skin and you gasp, dropping your hips on him, “Fuck!”
“Mm…” he hums, taking a quick bite of your neck, “Oh god, I love you. I fucking love you.”
And instead of saying it back, you just wrap your arms around his shoulders, squeeze him in a hug. He knows.
You grind your teeth together but it’s not enough to keep you quiet. You cry out directly in his ear and claw at the headboard, the motion in your hips becoming careless and sloppy. But, oh, so perfect. Your eyes roll back as you sit up straight, his eyes trained on you and only you.
“You gonna come?” he whispers.
You nod, “I’m gonna come.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, I’m…f-fuck…” your eyes cross over one another and you focus all your energy on stimulating your clit, letting yourself get there.
“Fuck!” you shout. “Fu…Matthew…” you moan.
“What is it, baby?” he holds your waist. “Hm?”
You respond with a loud and sudden gasp, followed by a breathy groan that echoes off the walls. Matthew can practically feel the vibration and he can feel your thighs tight around his waist and your pussy tightening around his cock. You stutter and you mumble until it’s nothing more than his name coming out on constant and whiny loop.
“Matthew-“ you choke out. “F-fuck…” until you lose your breath. “Matthew. Oh god, Matthew. Matthew, Matthew…”
“I know, I know,” he whispers, tapping his finger to his lips, “Shhh, shhh, shhh…”
“Matth-mm…” he shuts you up with a kiss and your entire body tenses on contact. He mushes his face into yours but still, you will not stop. You will not shut up because it’s not possible. So he keeps his mouth on yours. He swallows every noise you make and muffles his own against your lips. His arms engulf your waist and you bury your face in his neck, helpless moans bursting from the back of your throat.
“Okay, okay…” he murmurs. “Shhh…just let it out for me, baby…c’mon…”
You gasp as you come down on his cock, your body weakening by the second, your arms draped over his shoulders. You lick his neck and he groans, “Shit.”
You grip onto him. Tighter, and even tighter, working your hips until you come with a long and loud groan, which would’ve been much louder if Matthew wasn’t holding the back of your head, pushing your face into his neck. You fall limp against him, grinding yourself on his lap to ride the wave.
“Oh, that’s my girl,” he purrs, peppering kisses on your shoulder.
You shudder and let out a small squeak, overstimulated as he starts to lift his hips, push his cock into you. “O-oh, fuck,” he stutters.
You hold his face, run your hands down his chest and watch his belly flex as he angles himself inside of you. You can hardly keep yourself up, keep your eyes open, but when he very suddenly chokes out a moan and lifts you off his cock, you gasp, “Oof!” and he shoots all over his stomach. He just didn’t want to make a mess on you. Or, in you. It’s been such a long day.
He trembles, his face twisted up as he finishes all over himself. And his muscles relax into this content smile, which widens once he gets a good look at you.
“Fuck…” he exhales, gives you a light slap on the cheek, “You’re loud, woman.”
You chuckle, covering your mouth, “And this is news to you?”
“Oh, no,” he shakes his head, laughing, “Definitely not.”
You lean down and catch him in a kiss. This one, gentle. Slow. Sweet. He pecks at your lips and promptly pats your ass, “Let me go get cleaned up, mama.”
You nod and roll right off of him, landing face first into your pillow. You feel the bed shift as he stands, but cannot muster the energy to watch him walk away. He returns to find you in the same position and because you are too lazy to look up, you don’t see it coming when he slaps your ass.
“Ow!” you shout and now you look at him.
“You still have to eat,” he grins, placing himself back in bed.
You bury your face in the pillow, whining, “But I’m so tired.”
“Doesn’t matter,” he reaches over you and grabs the plate from your nightstand. “You still gotta eat. C’mon, c’mon.”
You groan and roll over, sitting up to lay in the crook of his arm. He sets the plate in your lap and picks up a chip, holding it to your lips. You sigh and take it in your mouth, chewing it with your eyes half closed.
“Sandwich, too,” he holds it up for you.
You open your mouth to take a small bite and he pulls it away, “No, you can open your mouth wider than that, we both know it.”
You gasp and swat his arm, making him throw his head back and cackle. And just as you go to take a Matthew-approved sized bite, there’s a tired cry from the baby monitor and you both pause. Go absolutely silent. Still. You don’t breathe. Not until Rhiannon rolls over in her crib, grabs her lovey and goes right back to sleep. Then, and only then, do the two of you relax again.
“Phew,” Matthew says. “Okay, sandwich now.”
You roll your eyes at him and finally, you take a bite.
You fall asleep on his chest, but you wake up alone. You roll over to check the time, finding empty beds on every monitor and you grumble to yourself.
Just outside the door, Matthew is walking down the hall with Rhiannon in his arms, Leo holding his hand and Amelia at his side. The plan was, as always, to get them downstairs for breakfast. The plan, as always, does not go the way it should.
“Daddy?” Leo calls. “Where’s mommy?”
“That’s your favorite question, isn’t it?” Matthew laughs.
“Is she at our house?”
“Yeah, she’s sleeping, buddy. She had a long day at work yesterday.”
“But I want mommy.” Leo whines.
“Well, we don’t wanna wake her up. We gotta let her rest.”
“What if we just go look at mommy but we don’t wake her up?” Always, always Amelia with the bright and clever ideas.
Matthew purses his lips as they approach your bedroom door, “You guys have to be quiet, okay? Promise?”
The two of them nod, and they’ve got those satisfied grins on their face only reserved for when they get their way. Matthew quietly opens the door and they find you laid out on your stomach, your head facing the other direction.
“Mommy’s sleeping?” Leo asks.
“Yeah, buddy, I told you. She’s tired, but she’ll be up soon.”
“But-but-but-but…” he stammers. “Can we just give her a kiss?”
This question is what wakes you.
Matthew sighs and glances at your still frame, back down to Leo, “You can give her a kiss, but be gentle.”
He helps the two of them onto the bed and you feel the weight of them landing on the mattress, crawling over to you. You’re trying your best not to laugh, but you cannot keep yourself from smiling. Leo kneels at your side and just as he promised, very carefully and quietly kisses the top of your head. You poke your bottom lip out, melting from the act of love. Amelia places a soft kiss on your shoulder and you just. Can’t even.
“Who’s that kissing me?” you speak suddenly, reaching around to grab Leo’s leg, which makes him scream in excitement. “Who is that? Who is this?” you grab onto Amelia and she squeals.
You flop over and they burst into laughter, Leo instantly falling onto your chest. It knocks the air out of you but in the very best way possible. Amelia piles on top of him and you free yourself just enough to reveal your face to Rhiannon who kicks her feet once the realization hits. Matthew sets her on the bed, grinning like a mad man at the sight of you all. Rhiannon finds herself in the middle of a tight, tight, tight hug.
You kiss their heads, “Oh, hi, my babies,” you laugh. “Hello, hello, hello.”
“Um, mommy?” Amelia calls.
“Yes, my love?”
“Did you have to stay at work when it was nighttime?”
“Yeah, baby, I did. I know it’s hard when mommy works for so long, but I’m back now and I’m just so excited to see you!” you squeal, “Mwah!” and place another kiss on her forehead.
“Hey, do you think you guys can go help daddy with breakfast while mommy gets dressed?”
They nod and you whisper, “Thank youuu,” embracing them one last time.
Matthew smiles at you as they leave the room, and with a good orgasm, a good meal and a good night’s rest in your system, you hop right out of bed. You brush your teeth, change your clothes, fix your hair, until you have the perfect I’m-not-leaving-this-house-today look.
You step out of the bathroom and gasp as you see Matthew rushing towards you. Before you can react, he’s backing you against the wall and putting his mouth on yours, wide open, starving, with his hands gripping at your waist.
“Mm…” you hum when he suddenly pulls away. You giggle, shoving his chest, “Freak.”
He cackles and kisses you again. Again. Once more. Last one. He picks up your hand, places one single kiss on your knuckles, “C’mon, sexy lady, let’s go have some breakfast.”

PAIRING Idol Jake Sim x Fan Fem Reader
GENRE Zombie Apocalypse, Angst, Slow Burn, Romance/Strangers to Lovers, Suggestive (Maybe smut, not sure yet.), some fluff
WARNINGS 18+ MDNI, Descriptions of violence, death, blood, etc., All members except Jake died so keep that in mind (I'm sorry), Cursing, Crimes, Mental health talk and experiences, Death, Sickness (Throwing up), Making out, Smut(?), It's an apocalypse!au idk how else to warn about that LOL
SUMMARY The group Enhypen get on a plane to the US and when landing are met with the worst. Jake makes it out alive... but alone. Since the dead are attracted to areas where the population is saturated, your best bet is to stay low in the areas usually considered dangerous (alleyways, abandoned buildings, etc). He made his way into the country and found a nice cabin alongside a lake. His further inspection led him to believe it was abandoned for whatever reason, maybe it was a vacation home? Little did he know his inference was correct, and soon he was met face to face with a member of the family who owned it. How would she react to seeing her favorite artist rummaging through the cupboards of her new--hopefully permanent--home? And how would he be able to explain to a loyal fan of his that he was the only member left?

Endless walking while trying to find a suitable place to stay was slowly driving Jake insane. The exhaustion from travelling, fear of death, and anguish from the scene at the airport was weighing down on him heavier and heavier every second. Having watched his best friends, his brothers, his family all being taken away from him without being able to do anything but listen to the oldest’s words, “Run”.
Jake had not yet cried, there was no time for it. It’s been almost thirty six hours since then, he’d stolen a bike around a mile away from the airport. It’s helped him a lot on his journey to safety. He never stole, he wasn’t like that, not that type of person. But in the moment he didn’t have the time nor energy to feel guilty about it.
Jake didn’t know exactly what he was looking for, but he wanted quiet. Not knowing wether or not it’ll be safer in the city or the country side, he chose the latter. Cities are crowded with people, meaning they must be crowded with the dead by now, right? No matter; either way he knew he’d feel much better being in the middle of nowhere, or at least in the middle of what looked like nowhere. All alone in an abandoned farm house, maybe a lake house, any house on the country side would do. He was being too optimistic, he knew, but he couldn’t help it. Finding a safe home to live in alone with no one around for miles sounded comforting.
The Jake from two days ago would’ve shivered at the thought of being completely alone. Though no extrovert, he needed people. He needed that connection, that interaction. His reasons to smile and laugh were mostly based around the people around him or the entertainment he consumed. Entertainment was out of the question now, and it seemed like people were too. Most dead, and others probably too violent to give Jake a chance due to the circumstances.
All he held on him was his and Sunghoon’s carry-on bag from the flight. Note to self, don’t try to save your friend by holding onto their bag. Thoughts like this crossed his mind every few minutes, tragedies sentenced as jokes but he wasn’t laughing. What’s wrong with me? How could I think something like that? Maybe it was the dehydration, starvation, overall fatigue? He hadn’t eaten anything since the flight and was savoring the small amount of water he had on him. Either way, thinking of his beloved friends didn’t do much to help his mood. Trying to think of the good times? Those good times will never happen again, they’re gone forever and I’ll never get them back.
More days passed like this. With a stop at a gas station probably being the reason he’s even alive right now. It was abandoned, for the most part. It was the early morning, and he was literally starving now. The cashier was still there, but his neck was chained so tightly to the wall that it was on the edge of ripping his head clean off. Oh, he was a living corpse too. Jake could tell that much by just looking at him, muffled grunts and groans coming from the pale body every minute. Luckily, he didn’t seem to care much of Jake’s criminal activities there. Stuffing whatever foods and drinks he could into the bags he had on him. They were even heavier now, but he couldn’t feel anything. He was numb to all feeling, mentally and physically.
At day four he had started keeping track of how many days passed with a calendar he found on the wall of the gas station that morning. He didn’t stay there though, he didn’t have it in him to kill the cashier, and he knew that if he somehow got loose while he was sleeping it would all be over. The past few days he hadn’t slept or rested much at all actually. Napping for at most an hour at a time, waking up to the slightest noises and scurries of nearby wildlife. He knows he’s incredibly lucky to not have encountered any of the dead, besides the one at the gas station, but it’s a little stressful to not have seen any either. Where could they all be? He had made it out of the city, the once bustling streets on day two, he knew many people weren’t out here to begin with. But knowing there are creatures that could kill him in seconds lurking while having no idea where they are was terrifying.
It’s been six days. His legs started feeling numb just hours after finding his bike due to the frantic pedaling, now he felt like his legs were asleep all the time. The feeling of pins and needles covered his lower body as they worked on auto pilot to keep him going. His back felt horrible, slouched from his broken spirit. Endless cramping and soreness of his hands and fingers from gripping the bikes handles for hours at a time. His knuckles were white, and now so was his once tanned and alive skin.
His lack of proper meals, sleep, and rest was now obvious. Jake hasn’t seen himself since that day in the airport, but from looking at his now thinner, paler, vein visible arms, he could take a guess at what his face looked like. Hell, he could feel the bags under his eyes whenever he blinked now.
It’s been quiet and empty for a few miles. Nothing but grass, and a dirt trail he’s been following in sight. How long is this damn trail? he thought. Jake started following the trail at the sunset of day five; he remembers because of his calendar. It was coming to the end of day six, the sun starting to set in the distance behind him. He found a flashlight at the gas station and used it to find himself a place to “rest” for the nights he faced, it neared the time to find a spot to sleep.
Trees were all around him now, the area looked more alive here, not dried out and dead like the miles before. He must be getting close to some sort of building, forest trails usually have a building as a starting point, right? Unless this trail wasn’t made for hikers, in that case he was hoping in vain.
It was almost completely dark now. Jake had usually found somewhere to stay by this time, but something was telling him to keep going. Using the flashlight to illuminate the shadowed forest, he heard his friends voices cheering him on over and over again.
“Keep going Jake!”
“Just a little longer!”
“You’ll be okay!”
Tears were unconsciously streaming down his face now, though he still didn’t feel anything. His body just gave up on the effort of keeping them in.
Jake pedaled faster. He couldn’t hear anything but his heavy panting, it felt like someone had covered his ears with their hands and muted the sound of everything around him. He saw something in the distance, the roof of a building; he padaled faster. A house, the roof made of wood, looked like a cabin; he padaled faster. He could hear the muffled sound of streaming water; he pedaled faster.
Face to face with a cabin, going so fast he couldn’t stop himself from crashing into the wet grass below him. Still struck with adrenaline, he pulled himself up quickly and dragged his bike to the front door. His broken and unused voice sounded through his pants as he tried frantically to open the damned door.
The door handle had a key hole but was locked with a rusty padlock. He could turn the handle and wriggle the door, that padlock was what he needed to remove. He pulled a hammer out of his bag; he grabbed it from the gas station floor, it was covered in dried blood. Obviously used by someone prior to leaving it there. Jake slammed the hammer into the padlock, over and over again. The loud bangs from striking the lock were null to Jake’s ears, his desperation coating over all his sense.
Smash. The padlocks body is broken away from its handle and the door is free from it’s hold on the wooden frame.
Jake shoves his way inside, throwing the bike onto the hard floor of the entry way before turning to lock the door. It was locked from the outside but had a perfectly working lock on the inside, though he didn’t care to question it. He made it, he was safe, he felt like he could faint.
He had no time to think, let alone find a good source of light before he threw up. Keeling on the once clean floor, liquid from his stomach poured out from him. His throat burned and ached at the feeling, like his throat was made of sandpaper. Falling back he sat on the floor, staring at the door and the mess he made on the ground. He laid back and let his eyes rest for the first time in nineteen hours. Jake fell asleep there on the hard floor, knee propped up on the backside of a couch.
If he was thinking clearly, he would’ve checked the entire cabin, then scavenged for any foods that may be there. But he was broken, body and mind. Luck had been on his side since the beginning though. The home was completely vacant before he entered, and when he wakes up he’ll have found himself a place to live in safely. Away from the corpses living in the surrounding cities, and away from any still living people, all alone.

hmmmm maybe simmer eddie acting like rs puppy when girls try to talk to him , hes like 👀 to us
You could see Eddie from across the diner.
He’d come out from the safety of the kitchen only to help Jonathan plug in a new coffee machine behind the bar and before he could get back to his omelette mix, a girl from out of town had struck up a conversation.
It had been about something as normal as the coffee beans Jonathan had handed to him and you watched as Eddie showed the girl the packet. But then she was leaning in and tapping at his name badge and you could see the way her lips wrapped around his name even if you were too far away to hear.
She was touching his arm, fingers curled around his chefs jacket and from across the diner, Eddie looked around, eyes wide and searching, trying to find yours.
He looked like a trapped rabbit, something akin to a baby deer perhaps, caught in headlights. He stared at you, brows raised as if he were waiting on you doing something. What that something was, you were unsure, but it was rather funny to watch the blush rise over the boy’s cheeks as the girl stepped a little closer.
You would’ve went over to save him if it weren’t for the family of five that stole you to take their order, taking too long to decide between pizza and pasta and the loaded nachos. When you looked back up, scribbling down five glasses of lemonade on your pad, you saw Eddie shaking his head, frowning in that way he did and looking panicked. He was pointing to you and then looking back at the girl, his hands held up in surrender, making a show of not touching his new friend back.
As if you had any reason not to trust him. You smothered a grin and told your customers you’d be right back with drinks. By the time you reached the kitchen, Eddie had dipped back inside and he grabbed you on entry, a full bodied thing that felt more like you were his life raft than him hugging you.
“Did you see her!” He intoned, disbelief colouring his voice. “I told her, sweetheart, told her all about you and how pretty you were but she kept puttin’ her damn hand on me—”
Argyle was slicing peppers across the station and he shook his head in solidarity. “Women,” he agreed.
You snorted, sliding your order over to Argyle before giving Eddie your full attention. You grinned, slipping your arms around his neck to pull him down for a kiss, something sweet and quick for the sake of professionalism. “I saw,” you told him, nodding in faux seriousness, matching his tone. “Hope you let her down gently, chef.”
“What?” Eddie’s brow furrowed. “You aren’t mad?”
“Of course I’m not mad, handsome,” you laughed, moving away to pull out the giant containers of ketchup and mustard that you could never really lift. Eddie sighed and moved to help you, lifting both with ease. You peered at him, amused. “Should I have reason to be mad?”
“What? No,” Eddie said again, as serious as a heart attack. “But you could’ve come and fuckin’ saved me at least, I was being eaten alive.”
“Eddie, she touched your arm.”
“Yeah, like some kind of scarlet woman.”

“One more time.”
You gave Ellie a withering look from where you were sitting at the end of her bed.
“Please,” she said, drawing out the s. “Just once more. I promise.”
“Fine.” You rolled your eyes—a habit of hers that you were quickly picking up—and took in a deep breath. “Fuck.”
Ellie lost it, peals of laughter bouncing off the walls. “Another one. Say something else.”
“I don’t understand why you think this is so funny,” you said.
“You say it so weird.”
“I enunciate,” you clarified. “I don’t ‘sound weird’. It’s called pronouncing every letter in the word and not having a lazy mouth.”
“Please,” she gasped. “At least say bitch. You haven’t said that one yet.”
You looked her dead in the eye. “Bitch.”
If you weren’t already certain that Ellie was high out of her mind by the smell of her room and the general haze in the air, the way she howled with laughter and fell back on her bed would’ve made you entirely positive.
This was new. You’d begun to hang out with her in her room after dinner—that was normal—but when she’d knocked on your door smelling heavily of weed once you’d said goodnight to Joel, you were nothing less than shocked. Of course, she had none left for you. Which was probably good, because only a sober mind could navigate a night sitting on Ellie’s bed without doing something really, really stupid.
“I can’t believe you call me weird,” you said, tucking your feet under her and giving her a pointed look.
“You’re so lucky you didn’t grow up where I did,” Ellie said, wiping a tear away from her cheek as she tried (unsuccessfully) to rein in her giggles. “You would’ve been eaten alive, good lord.”
“What were you like as a kid?” you asked, resting your chin on your knees.
She considered for a moment, growing more somber. “Um…I don’t know if you would’ve liked me very much.”
“What do you mean? Of course I would’ve liked you.”
“No,” she said, swiping at her face so she pushed a strand of hair away. “I don’t think you would have.”
“Why not?”
“I was…” She paused, picking at her cuticles. “Back then I didn’t have anyone. I was an orphan, you know. My parents were never in the picture, so I was the only one I could count on.  I was really rough around the edges and could be nasty. But I probably would’ve ignored you like I did everyone else. “
“Everyone? You didn’t have anyone? No friends at all?”
Ellie blinked, and her gaze remained fixed on her hands. “Basically, yeah. I mean, there was one girl, but that’s…I don’t want to talk about that right now, actually.”
“That’s okay,” you said, reaching forward to touch her knee. She flinched at the contact but didn’t brush you away. The image of a young, scared Ellie living somewhere alone made your chest ache. “You don’t have to tell me.”
“What were you like?” she asked, tilting her head and meeting your eyes.
“Hmmm…” Mirth crept into your tone. “What do you think?”
“What do I think?” Ellie echoed, her eyes cloudy as she thought. Then a small smirk formed on her face. “Oh god, were you one of those spoiled brats? Were you a mean girl?”
“God, no,” you said, raising your eyebrows. “Not mean.”
“Then what?”
You paused. “I was really shy, I guess. And quiet, too. I didn’t do much but read for a good 10 years of my life. I used to have awful pronunciation because I would spend more time reading than talking to anyone. But I think I would’ve liked you.”
Ellie shook her head.
“Yes,” you said. “Maybe I would’ve been a little scared of you. I probably would’ve never had the courage to talk to you. But I would’ve liked you, I think.”
“Scared of me?”
“Yeah.”
“Why? I was a kid.”
“I was mostly going off of how I felt when I actually first met you,” you said, shrugging.
She gasped theatrically. “You’re scared of me?”
“No!” you said, smacking her knee. “That’s not what I mean. You’re just really intimidating.”
“Intimidating?” She looked at you incredulously.
“You’re so tough,” you explained, feeling heat grow in your cheeks. “You seem just—I don’t know, just so capable. There’s nothing you’re too afraid to face, nothing you’re too afraid to say.”
“That’s not true,” she said lightly.
“Well, of course I’m sure there are things that you’re afraid of,” you amended. “But you hide it so well. You just seem so…fearless.”
“Hm,” Ellie said, letting her head rest against the headboard. “I think you would’ve made me a nervous wreck. If we’d met when we were kids, I mean.”
“Why?”
She shrugged. “I’ve never met anyone quite like you before. You’re just so untouched.” She winced. “God, no. That sounds gross. I just mean…I dunno. I wouldn’t have known how to act around you. You haven’t had to harden up like everyone else I know.”
“Are you saying I should develop trust issues or something?” you asked, your voice a teasing lilt.
“You know,” she said, nodding seriously, “That is part of it. It was really off-putting how quickly you trusted me. But I guess that’s just a product of where you grew up.”
“Yeah,” you said softly. “I wonder how I would’ve turned out if I’d grown up like you.”
“Can I be honest?” Ellie asked.
“Sure.”
“I don’t think you’d still be here if you were me,” she said, her eyes crinkling. “No offense. You just have zero survival skills. I swear that shit has to be genetic. I’ve never met someone more averse to violence in my life.”
You sighed, pressed your hands deep into Ellie’s comforter as a thought hit you. “I think if you’d been born in my position, you would’ve been greater than anything either of us could ever dream of. Much greater than me.”
“Definitely not,” said Ellie. “There’s no fucking way I’m studying the way you apparently do. I honestly think I’d take being an orphan over the study schedule I saw in your bag.”
She was of course referencing the time table you’d roughly sketched up the morning before you’d ended up in Jackson. It was blocked to the minute, citing the study content and the location of said study session. She’d been beyond horrified to see it.
You laughed, nudging her socked food with yours.
“Is there music? In Terranova?”
“Oh,” you said, startled at the abrupt change of subject. “Uh, yeah. Of course. I listened to it all the time.”
“I used to have a Walkman,” she said, leaning back as she reminisced. She was lying flat on her back now. “It ended up breaking a while ago, but it was like my child.”
“Have you ever seen a movie before?” you asked, sitting up rigid straight as the thought occurred to you.
“Duh,” she said, giving you a weird look. “Do you think I live under a rock?”
“How many?”
“Hm.” Ellie began counting, ending on her second hand. “I think 6?”
“You’ve seen a total of 6 movies in your life?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you want to see more?”
She shrugged. “I mean, I guess. It’s just tough to find CDs that are still functional after so long.”
“Hold that thought,” you said, holding a finger in her direction as you stood up.
“Hey!” she called as you bolted out the door. “Where are you going?”
You came bounding back to her room in a matter of seconds, your laptop in your hands.
“What the fuck?” she said. “Isn’t that your homework thing?”
“Yes,” you said, feeling around for an outlet, “But I also have a ridiculous amount of movies downloaded on this. Our dorm wi-fi is shit and I have way too much storage on this thing, so I just download, like, every movie I’ve ever wanted to watch.”
“Your dorm what?”
You waved your hand. The last thing you wanted to do was explain to her how the 802.11 standard allowed wireless connections a few years after the outbreak. “Not important. Here, come look at this.”
Your laptop roared to light with the help of your charging cord. Quickly, you typed your password in and opened your downloads. Ellie hovered over your shoulder, squinting at the screen with confusion.
“Here,” you said, opening up the album that had everything you had seen for your entire university career and passing the laptop to Ellie. “Use the touchpad—there, yeah—to navigate. Press to click. These are all movie files that I’ve seen. We can watch them on my laptop. Some of them were filmed in Terranova, too, so they’re post-apocalypse.”
She perused the selection you had for quite some time, the glow of the screen lighting up her face against the dim room. “Okay. This one.”
And thus began a tradition. Each night after you’d finished showering and Joel retired to his room, Ellie would come knock on your door and ask if you wanted to come over. You’d talk for a while, then open your laptop and pick something out to watch. Ellie was never high after the first time, which was unsurprising considering that there definitely wasn’t a way to get any in Jackson. Where she found any the first time was still a mystery to you.
~
A week or so after your first patrol with Ellie, Joel had taken it upon himself to teach you how to shoot. You were surprisingly not as bad as you’d expected, but the rebound was tough to get used to, and you were still hung up over the whole “killing living things” part.
Your first patrol—first real one—came quickly, and before you knew it, Ellie was handing you the same gun you’d dropped the first time with a suspicious look.
“Don’t kill one of us with that thing,” she warned. “Be smart, okay?”
“Sure thing, boss,” you said to her, mock saluting as best you could while you were leading Japan to the mounting block.
She rolled her eyes. “Please act normal or I’ll make you carry around that glorified pocket knife instead again.”
The patrol began as usual, Ellie leading you down the same path you went last time. It was a beautiful day out, with the early spring sun filtering through the evergreen trees that populated the woods and birdsong filling the air.
Though conversations with Ellie were getting easier (given that it actually seemed like she wanted to talk to you now), you were still starstruck. Nothing that you did and nothing that you thought could get you to stop seeing her the way you did. You were routinely distracted by everything about her. It was a wonder that you could even function as a normal person around her, much less handle a weapon and a horse.
You two had nearly made the full rotation when your surroundings exploded in action.
“Fuck,” Ellie hissed as someone behind you two fired a shot that narrowly missed Shimmer.
You whipped around, gun in hand, to see two men—two normal men who weren’t infected. One held a bow, the other a gun.
The one who had fired the first shot never even stood a chance. He was down on the ground seconds after you’d seen him, Ellie’s aim taking him out before you could even ready your gun.
The second man notched an arrow and managed to draw it back and release into the air right as Ellie’s bullet struck him, sending him falling back.
“I don’t think there’s any more,” said Ellie, slightly breathless as she scanned the forest. “Sometimes outsiders pull this shit—try to kill us for our supplies. I’ve never seen them this close to the wall, though. I’ll have to tell Maria and Tommy.”
Normally, you would’ve felt up to making some sort of sarcastic comment about how that was a really unconcerning thing for her to tell you and that you actually felt so much more comfortable going on patrol knowing that there were also just run-of-the-mill people trying to kill you, but a twinge in your lower body distracted you.
Slowly, nervously, you looked down. Air immediately left your lungs.
“At least we’re done,” Ellie was saying, wiping her hands off on her thighs and slinging the gun over her shoulder. “What a crazy end for your first actual patrol, huh?”
When you didn’t answer, she turned to you and saw the arrow sticking out of your side,
“Shit,” said Ellie, jumping off Shimmer and reaching you in seconds. “Shit, shit, shit. Oh god.”
“Am I going to die?” you asked, staring starstruck at the blood escaping the outline of the arrowhead. You couldn’t feel anything anymore. Were you in shock?
“No,” said Ellie firmly. “Absolutely not. Do you need help getting off?”
Before you could answer, she was already helping you down, carefully avoiding the protruding arrow.
“Listen,” she said, back to being her unwavering self, “We’re right by the wall. I’m going to help you walk in, and then I’ll grab some supplies, okay? Don’t try to pull the arrow out. You hear me? Don’t.”
Swallowing hard, you nodded. She helped you walk the few steps to be carefully concealed by the wall, then grabbed the two horses and darted past you, making a break for Maria and Tommy’s cabin.
In a haze of confusion, you could see Maria running out, holding a box out to Ellie in exchange for the reins of the horses. Ellie said something that made Maria point towards you. She nodded, then ran back to you.
By the time that she’d reached you, the shock had begun to wear off, replaced by the stinging pain from the object that had impaled you. It was worse than anything you’d ever felt before in your life, and it took all you had not to keel over.
“Hey,” she said, reaching out to grab your face so you had to look at her. “Don’t be afraid. I’ve done this before, okay? I’m, like, the master. It’s going to be alright.”
“Done what before?” you managed to grind out.
Ellie let go of your face to dig through the box Maria had given her, producing a needle, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and what looked like a spool of thin thread.
Horror slowly trickled through you as you realized what was about to happen.
“It doesn’t look all that deep,” Ellie was saying as she examined the arrow. “So I don’t think it’s hit anything. It’s just going to be a nasty hole. I’m going to pull it out now, okay?”
You let out a strangled scream as she grasped the arrow’s end and yanked it out without warning.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry,” Ellie repeated. She threw the arrow over her shoulder and knelt so she was hovering over you. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you gasped. You were most certainly not. You couldn’t quite get your eyes to focus, and your heart was beating out of your chest.
“Alright,” she said firmly, grasping your shoulders and pulling you up so you were slumped against the wall. “Sit up straight, alright? Also, this is going to hurt.”
At first there were just snipping sounds as she cut part of your shirt away—then something cool and wet pressed to your wound. You cried out again as a fresh white hot pain bloomed in your middle.
“I know, I know.” Ellie’s voice was consoling as she reached up to brush away the sweaty strands of hair stuck to your forehead. “Just a few more seconds.”
“Fuck—off—” you gritted out from your teeth.
Ellie’s eyebrows shot up. “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. Just this once.”
She released the alcohol-saturated cotton pad, throwing it aside and fussing with the thread and needle until she was satisfied.
By the time her fingers were ghosting over your abdomen again, you couldn’t pull your eyes away from the puncture wound and the needle she was wielding.
“Don’t look,” said Ellie. “Pick something else. You don’t need to watch.”
“I hate needles,” you whispered, choosing the air over her shoulder to be your focal point.
There was a prodding at the top of your wound, and you hissed.
“I can’t say I’m a fan myself.”
Something pierced through your skin, and your midriff exploded in pain.
The edges of your sight went fuzzy, stars forming in the corners of your vision. Someone that sounded suspiciously like you cried out. Your cheek rammed up against something solid and warm.
Once the initial sting had faded, you realized that you’d slumped into Ellie, your face buried into her neck. She didn’t make any move to push you off, instead just taking one hand to brush up and down your arm with a feather light touch.
“You're fine," she said firmly. "Everything's going to be fine."
Your fingers curled around the hem of her shirt as the needle exited through the other end of your wound, pulling another whine from your throat. It was easier to not feel like you were about to pass out when you were crushed into Ellie, clinging onto her and just focusing on the way she felt against you.
“Hang on, I'm almost there,” she muttered a few stitches later. You’d quieted down, only letting out the occasional gasp as she pulled the thread through. “You're doing so well. Just one more.”
Now that you were more conscious, you had no idea how she was managing to stitch your side while you were nearly on her lap, but she continued to weave her needle through your skin, pulling it taut.
“And done,” said Ellie. You felt her take another cotton square to swipe against your skin.
You laid against her for a few more moments, panting as the shock slowly began to fade. She shifted, and for a moment you were sure that she was going to shove you away, but then the hand she’d lifted hesitantly rested on your head, her fingers parting to card through your hair.
“How did you learn how to do that?” you asked, your voice muffled from where you were pressed against her.
“Trial and error.”
Her joke was enough for you to finally let go, sitting back against the wall. Her hand slithered out of your hair, resting back in her lap.
“Shut up,” you said. “That’s awful.”
Ellie shrugged.
“I’m sorry,” you said, feeling the bumpiness of the stony wall press into your back. “I have a really low pain tolerance.”
“So I’ve noticed,” said Ellie, the side of her mouth quirking.
“I’ve never been hurt before,” you heard yourself saying. “Like, beyond the occasional splinter or bee sting or accidental scrape or ankle sprain. It’s just not something that happens.”
“Must be nice.”
You smiled sadly. “Yeah. It’s not nice being weak, though.”
Ellie looked away from you then, silent as she packed up the first-aid kit. Then: “I don’t think that’s true.”
She’d said it lightly, like it was meant to be an offhand comment, a throwaway addition that wouldn’t be remembered by either of you. But the sentiment still struck you, twisting your heart.
You were less capable because your survival had never required anything more. You were weak because you could be.
Her voice from the night she’d been high floated back to you. You haven't had to harden up like everyone else I know.
Out here, weakness was a luxury few could afford.
“Not so untouched anymore, huh?” you said, since you didn’t know how else to respond.
“I won’t tell anyone if you don’t,” quipped Ellie. “But if I were you, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I still consider needing to be held to get 4 stitches as being soft. You haven’t changed a bit. No offense.”
Your cheeks burned bright red. “I—”
“I’m teasing,” she said before you could defend yourself. “Arrow wounds suck. I get it.”
“Right.” You turned away, keeping your gaze fixed firmly on the ground beside you. With feeling more yourself came the inevitable shame at what you’d just done. What had you been thinking, touching her like that? Grabbing onto her like that?
This was going to haunt you for the rest of your life.
“Don’t make that face,” said Ellie. “I’m sorry for saying that. I didn’t mean to embarrass you. It really is fine.”
It was not fine. It would never be fine. You wanted the thugs to come back to life and finish you off, and then have the earth open up and swallow you for good measure.
Ellie probably thought of you as an overgrown child. You doubted that there was ever a point where she could see you as anything equal. If she ever knew how often she appeared in your imagination, she’d probably be disgusted.
She called you pretty a contrarian voice in your head reminded you. Don't you remember?
But maybe she hadn’t meant it. She hadn’t said it explicitly: “Y/N, I think you’re pretty.” She just hadn’t argued when you’d pointed it out. Maybe because she was being nice, or maybe because she was actually being sarcastic.
“You were really brave, okay?” said Ellie. “Your first armed confrontation and you did well.”
“I didn’t shoot anyone.”
“It could have gone worse,” said Ellie. “You could’ve accidentally shot me. Or died. And neither of those things happened, so that’s successful in my book.”
“That’s very glass half-full of you.”
“That’s me. Ever the optimist.”
You snorted.
~
That night, Ellie knocked on your door and asked you if you were up for another movie. You found yourself sitting on her comforter, plugging in your computer and booting it up minutes later.
Physically speaking, it had always been a little awkward to fit two people on her twin bed if they weren’t right next to each other, given that your laptop screen was a very unimpressive size. When you’d first started watching with her, Ellie would rest against the headboard, her legs stretched out in front of you while you would sit with your legs crossed, positioned sideways so you weren’t accidentally pushing her legs off.
But after the day you had had, your back was sore and your whole body ached. Sitting on something soft without any back support as you angled yourself to look at the screen was quickly proving unsustainable.
“Pause,” said Ellie about ten minutes in. You’d been watching an older sci-fi flick—Ellie’s choice.
You complied, leaning forward and pressing the spacebar. “What’s up?”
“Are you even comfortable sitting like that?”
“Yeah,” you said.
“Liar,” accused Ellie, crossing her arms over her chest. “Don’t think I don’t see you ‘discreetly’ cracking your back every 2 minutes. It’s ruining the movie.”
“Sorry,” you said, shaking your head and smiling in exasperation. “It’s from all the years I spent hunched over a textbook.”
“You know, you can sit up here,” she said, patting the space beside her. “I don’t bite.”
“Jury’s still out on that,” you said, though by the time Ellie let out a laugh you were already unfolding your legs and moving so you were next to her.
She leaned forward, grabbing the bottom half of the laptop and lifting it. “Hey, do you want a blanket?”
“Sure.”
Ellie’s other hand grabbed the edge of her comforter and held it up.
Hesitantly, you slid your legs under and watched as Ellie did the same, awkwardly holding the laptop in the air before you were both settled enough to rest it on your covered right thigh and her left.  “Better?”
When you nodded, she reached her tattooed arm out and pressed play. The audio picked back up, but you couldn’t for the life of you focus on the movie.
When Ellie had asked if you’d wanted a blanket, you were expecting her to toss the throw blanket that would really only fit one person at you, not invite you to get under the blankets with her. That was significantly more intimate.
You two were sitting close enough that your sides were touching, from shoulder to thigh. You could feel her chest lift with each breath, feel the heat coming off of her.
After a while, Ellie properly laid down, taking the laptop and hoisting it up so it rested on her lower abdomen as she settled into her pillow.
You gulped, your eyes flickering between her face and the screen. Ellie’s gaze was fixed intently on the screen, her eyes half lidded with exhaustion.
You could be tired too. You weren’t, of course—your heart was racing a thousand miles an hour. But she didn’t know that. It was normal to lay down next to her, right? You’d done that with Irena more times than you could count, and it was never weird. Yeah, you could do that.
Also, if you were totally horizontal, you would stop getting distracted by the sliver of her skin that her crooked shirt showed of her chest.
In a moment of blind courage, you scooted down so your head was lying right next to Ellie’s. She didn’t seem to react, just extending her hand from under the covers to steady the laptop as it wobbled from the movement.
Her sheets smelled like the soap that you used to wash your hair—a cottony freshness that had the slightest hint of lavender.
“Are you going to fall asleep on me?” asked Ellie after a while, her voice nothing more than a whisper.
“I could ask you the same thing,” you responded, equally quiet. Then, because you hadn’t made enough rash decisions for the night, you angled your head so it rested in the space right above her shoulder.
She inhaled sharply but didn’t move. On her next exhale a piece of her auburn hair tickled your forehead.
“How’re your stitches?” she asked suddenly, like she'd just remembered.
“They’re okay. I think. As stitches go.”
“After this is over, I’ll check on them,” she said. “Don’t let me forget, okay?”
“Okay,” you whispered, suddenly feeling shy. It was one thing for her to cut off your shirt and see your skin when she was trying to save your life while you were mentally gone. It was another thing altogether to pull up your shirt without adrenaline coursing through you.
You didn’t pay any attention to the rest of the movie, instead hyperfocused on the rhythm of Ellie’s breathing and the fact that if you moved just a little your chin would be on her shoulder.
Her mention of the stitches wasn’t helping at all, either. Now all you could think about was the embarrassing way you’d basically tried to crawl under her skin, burying your face into her and clutching at her clothes like you were a child.
A part of you was disappointed that you hadn’t been more lucid at the time. If you had, you would’ve been able to clearly remember the softness of her skin against yours. You would’ve been able to enjoy it for what it was—the only time you’d be able to touch her like that.
Because you couldn’t go around just grabbing onto her shirt and getting into her lap. That was a one-off, the only time that the rules were waived. You couldn’t touch her like that now, now that you didn’t have any excuse. It wasn’t allowed.
But sometimes you wanted to so badly that it hurt.
The movie ended abruptly, wrenching you out of your thoughts.
“Hey,” whispered Ellie. “Sit up so I can see.”
Reluctantly, you pressed yourself up from your back and began rolling up the hem of your shirt. Ellie twisted to face backwards, her thin top riding up and showing part of her back as she reached for the lamp.
Once golden light returned to the room, Ellie turned back and bumped your hands away. She bent over, tilting her head so that she was looking at the stitches straight on.
They didn’t look bad, you had to admit. Though you wouldn’t consider the actual experience of getting the stitches a 5-star experience, Ellie had clearly known what she was doing. The surrounding flesh didn’t look angry or irritated, and she’d pulled the stitches just tight enough without it puckering.
She prodded at the side, then gave a satisfied nod. “Looks good. What did I tell you? I’m really good at this sort of stuff.”
“I think you would’ve made a really good doctor,” you said once she’d sat up straight again. “Under different circumstances.”
“Is this you telling me that you don’t think I’m a good doctor now?” she teased.
“Your bedside manner could use some work,” you offered.
Ellie laughed then, shaking her head and crossing her arms over her chest. “Yeah, yeah. You lived. You'll get over it.”
“Did you go to school?” you found yourself asking, hung up on the thought of Ellie as a potential medical student. If she’d been in one of your intro biology classes, you never would’ve been able to pay attention. That was a fantasy you could shelve away for later.
“Sort of,” said Ellie, looking down at her arms. “I went to a military prep school run by FEDRA. I didn’t graduate though—obviously. I was long gone by then.”
“Right,” you said, remembering that she’d mentioned that she’d been 14 when she’d left Boston. “And what was it like?”
She paused, opening her mouth before closing it. “It was—unkind. Joel's told me about schools before the outbreak. It was nothing like that. There were some normal classes, but most of it was meant to prepare us to be soldiers.”
“Is that where you learned how to do sutures?”
“Among other things.”
Terranova had no military academies, given that there was hardly any military presence. The founder of Terranova had bodyguards and there was a police force that controlled the borders, but it was nothing like Ellie described. With invisible borders and a social order that valued peace and tranquility over all else, there was no real danger posed to any of the citizens.
But from what you had learned from movies and books and comments from older people, you had gathered a very dim picture of what a military academy looked like—harsh, strict, and cruel.
“I’m sorry you had to grow up like that,” you said.
“It’s okay.”
“Is there anything you would want to study? If you could?”
Ellie’s eyes closed. “Yeah. There are a couple things.”
She did not elaborate.
~
It didn’t take long for you two to settle back into your routine of meeting in her room each evening and watching one of your downloaded movies. Following the night after you’d gotten your stitches, you wouldn’t even have to ask—Ellie would pull up her comforter and let you slide in next to her without giving you a second glance.
You’d also gotten over the fear of touching her. Now, when you flopped back so your head was on her pillow, you’d adjust until you were nestled into the crook of her neck. She never once reacted to it, remaining perfectly still unless she was adjusting the laptop or messing with the sound.
Because it was normal, of course. You and Irena would rest your head on each other’s shoulders sometimes. That was something that friends did.
One night a week or so into April, you and Ellie made a harrowing discovery: there was only one movie left in your collection that you two hadn’t seen together.
“Damn,” said Ellie, furrowing her brow. “And there’s no way to get more on here?”
“I’m afraid not,” you said, frowning. “To download more or stream one, I’d need either an Ethernet cable or a wi-fi connection. Neither of which function out here anymore without cell towers and maintained cables.”
“Right,” said Ellie, though her face told you that she didn’t understand a word that had come out of your mouth. “So—this is it?”
“Yeah.” Your finger hovered over the play button. “Savor it, I guess.”
When you settled back and into her side, the heavy weight of dread settled into your stomach. Now that you’d finished showing her your entire collection, it’s not like she’d have a reason to invite you over every night. And there was especially no reason for you two to lie so closely together unless you were both trying to watch something on a small screen.
Once again, your excuse to touch her was gone.
You pressed closer to her as your mind raced. There was no way that Ellie didn’t see what you were doing as platonic, right? Was it possible that she was creeped out by how touchy you were but just tolerated it to be nice?
Maybe. You swallowed hard, keeping your eyes fixed on the screen. Ellie didn’t see you like…like that. She spoke to you like you were an obligation, a burden. Because you always had been. You’d been a responsibility thrust on her by a father figure who felt like he was indebted to you from that stupid bag of coffee you were lucky enough to bring.
Oh, god. Had Joel told her to befriend you? Had he asked for Ellie to pretend like she enjoyed spending time with you and to put up with your privileged, soft-hearted nonsense?
The knowledge that you were spiraling wasn’t enough to stop you. You did the best that you could—tried to remind yourself that it’d been a while since she’d looked disgusted with you, recall that she was outspoken enough to tell you to fuck off if you did something she didn’t like—but it was to no avail.
Ellie reached forward and hit pause on the movie, thrusting you both into silence.
“Is everything okay?” she asked after a moment.
“Yeah, why?”
“I can feel your heart going, like, crazy fast.”
You froze. “Oh. Uh, yeah. I was just thinking.”
Ellie pushed the laptop off of her, sitting up to give you an odd look. “About a near death experience or something? You running a marathon up there? That shit’s not normal.”
You laughed nervously. “It’s really nothing. Just an, uh, suspenseful movie.”
Which was actually really stupid of you to say, because you were watching some obscure Tarkovsky film that did nothing but pan over burning buildings and pensive men. For the past 5 minutes, there had been nothing on screen but the back of a car driving through traffic with minimal sound. Also, it was in Russian, and the English subtitles made zero sense.
There was a reason why this was the last movie you chose.
“This is the most boring fucking movie I’ve ever watched in my life, so you’re a dirty fucking liar,” said Ellie. Then her face pinched in worry. “Wait. Have you taken a look at your stitches lately?”
Before you could answer, she was grabbing a flashlight off her nightstand and yanking the comforter off you. She was pulling your shirt up when you finally found your voice.
“Wait!” you said, grabbing the bottom of your shirt and yanking it back in place. “It’s not—I don’t have an infection, okay? There’s nothing wrong with me. I really was just thinking, okay?”
“About what?” She reached back to place her flashlight back on the stand without taking her eyes off you.
“It’s nothing important.”
“If you say so.”
She picked the laptop up and placed it back on her thighs, lying back down. You followed suit, but this time you didn’t touch her, opting to keep as much distance as you could so she wouldn’t hear the stuttering of your heart.
Not even 5 minutes had passed before Ellie sat up to pause the video again.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
“No. Why?”
“You’re acting weird,” she accused, but there wasn’t much conviction behind her voice.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that you’re acting weird,” she repeated, shutting your laptop off and moving it to the bottom of her bed, despite the protests that left your lips.
“I don’t understand,” you said. “I’m just watching the movie. I’m not doing anything. “
“You’re not watching the movie,” she said. “You weren’t even looking at the screen. What’s got you so bothered? Did I do something?”
“Of course not.” You pulled your legs under you so your legs were crossed and your back was against the wall. “You don’t need to worry. It’s honestly fine. I’m sorry if I’ve done something to imply otherwise.”
Ellie rubbed the bridge of her nose, sighing. “You stress me out. You can just tell me, you know? No need to be so cagey. I promise I’ve heard worse.”
“Don’t be so quick to say that.”
“Okay, now you have to tell me,” she said. “I’m never going to know peace again with a hook like that.”
You were about to open your mouth to tell her that it was stupid and that it didn’t matter, but something stopped you.
That was the coward’s way out. That’s what you’d always done—hid your feelings and concealed your emotions. That’s how you’d been raised. That’s how you thought everyone was. But now that you’d spent 2 months in Jackson, you’d realized that some people actually just said what they thought. And that, in the grand scheme of things, it was a better system than the Terranovian culture of superficiality.
Just because the you 2 months ago would have shook her head and changed the subject didn’t mean the you now had to.
Maybe this you could be different. Maybe, for once, this you could be brave.
“I really—” You stopped yourself. Saying I really like you didn’t even begin to encompass what you felt for the girl sitting across from you. To distill the sheer magnitude of your feelings down to four words felt criminal. The swell in your chest that never went away whenever you were near her could never and would never be adequately represented in the puny offerings of the Latin alphabet and the English language, and if you were going to do this, you were going to do it right.
You dared to look up at her for a moment. She was completely still, her green eyes reflecting the dim moonlight from outside. Once you met her gaze, you couldn’t bring yourself to pull it away.
“I’m really sorry that I’m putting you in an uncomfortable position for saying this,” you began (because old habits ran deep, and you would rather die than be impolite), “And I totally understand if you don’t want to talk to me after this. And I’m sorry for not telling you earlier.”
“As much as I’m sure that this is some sort of cultural cornerstone for you, please spare me the 6 foot long disclaimer script,” Ellie drawled.
“Right.” You gulped. “Anyway. As I was saying.”
“Any day now.”
At that moment, she had never looked more perfect. Your eyes had adjusted to the dark lighting, so the weak moonlight that spilled in from the window above her created a halo around her head.
“It’s you.” Your voice came out tiny. “You’re all that I can think about, and I don’t know what to do.”
There. It was off your chest.
For a moment, it was as if you’d suspended time, stopping Earth on its axis as you both held your breaths. There was nothing but silence and the occasional wooden creak of the old house’s foundation in the wind.
Ellie’s face betrayed nothing, save for something in her eyes and the disappearance of the smirk that had been on her lips moments before.
Then she spoke, her response whispered.
“Come here, then.”

summary: Matt’s in love with you, but you’re too in love with someone else to realize it.
Heartbreak Girl PT.1, PT.2
Matt’s phone rings loudly on his bedside table, waking him from his sleep. His eyes jolt open, the loud ringing scaring him. He knows who’s calling, but hopes it’s someone else this time so he can hang up without being eaten alive by the guilt. A sigh leaves his lips as he checks the caller ID, your name shining brightly on his phone screen. He rubs the sleep out of his eyes as he answers, “y/n?” Your sobs immediately fill the room as they emit from his phone speaker, he grimaces slightly at the loud noise and holds the phone away from his face.
It was always the same thing with you, you’d call him late at night complaining and crying about something your boyfriend, Mike, did. Matt would comfort you time and time again, advising you to just break up with that loser and sometimes you’d listen. You and Mike would break up, sometimes for as long as a week, but you’d always end up welcoming him back into you life at the slightest apology.
“What did he do this time?” Matt asks, another sigh leaving his mouth. He’s propped up on an elbow, his head hanging forward with his eyes shut as he tries fighting sleep. If you were anyone else he would’ve stopped picking up your calls a long time ago, but you’re his best friend and he feels a sense of responsibility for you. “First, he called me annoying and then we got in this big fight and then he left. He said he’s going back to his ex,” you hiccup, barely sounding coherent through your sobs.
Matt wants to scream into his pillow, was this not the same fight you had with Mike last week? “Well-” Matt begins, but is quickly interrupted by you. “He accused me of cheating too! Doesn’t he know I love him? I’d never cheat!” you exclaim through the phone, your words coming out a mile a minute.
Love. Matt cringed at the word, how could you possible love a guy who’s favorite pass time was making you cry.
Matt could tell you were entering a stare of hysteria, your breathing was erratic and you wouldn’t stop crying. “Alright, y/n. Try to calm down,” he whispers sternly, trying to bring you back to reality. With every late night phone call Matt gained more and more reasons to hate your stupid boyfriend. “Okay… I’m calm,” you reply, bringing your voice down and attempting to steady your breathing. He knows you’re faking it, but he appreciates that you’re at least trying.
“Okay, now telling me what happened,” he instructs, a part of him wanting to hear all the details of your argument so his hatred for your boyfriend would be more justified. You retold the events in excruciating detail, mentioning everything that was said and done. So much of it repulsed Matt, how could two people treat each other like that? He felt his heart breaking with each word, but the anger he felt was much stronger, “he really called you that?!”
Matt’s jaw was clenched, his teeth grinding against each other in the process. He heard your sniffles on the other side of the phone, a part of him wished he could just hold you. “Yeah, but he’s not that bad,” your voice was hushed, almost like you were afraid. You sounded scared to admit it, mostly because you knew Matt would get mad. You, of course, guess correctly because Matt replies angrily, “He’s not THAT bad?!?”
If he had any common sense he’d just hang the phone up now because there was obviously no getting through to you. But, a part of him is praying that one day you’ll realize what a loser Mike is and then maybe you’ll realize that he’s been here all along. “Well, I mean, it takes two to fight,” you reply in an attempt to defend your last statement. Matt rubs his temples, trying to massage his growing headache away.
“Y/n, stop being so naive,” he says harshly. At this point his anger has completely consumed him but he bites his tongue to stop the venom from spilling.
“Don’t be mean,” you mumble. There was no excuse for Mike’s behavior, not that you were much better, but you couldn’t let this become your forever. “I’m not being mean. I’m being real,” he replies, his voice softening a bit when he realizes how harsh his words sounded.
A brief silence settles in the conversation, but Matt can hear soft mumbling in the background. Matt assumes you’re talking but somehow the audio got muffled. “I can’t hear you,” he says, turning the volume up on his phone. The mumbling gets a little louder and then suddenly he hears it, it’s Mike. He must’ve come back once he cooled off, he’s sure to reel you back in with broken promises and empty apologies.
“Matt, I have to go. Mike is here,” you whisper into the phone, clearly scared to be caught venting your problems to your best friend. Mike, Mike, Mike. What was so special about Mike anyways? Sometimes, if Matt repeated the name enough it almost sounded like his own name. Matt, Matt, Matt. He wished it was.
He wants to beg you to stay on the phone, but he knows there’s no use. All he can do is advise you to choose better and hope that this time you’ll listen, “y/n, don’t do anything stupid.” There’s a lot of shuffling coming from your end, if Matt closes his eyes he can imagine every single movement. “Okay, bye friend. Love you,” you say quickly.
Friend. That is a word Matt will be reduced to for the rest of his life. He wants to be more than that with you, but a part of him knows that you two will be stuck going in circles again and again. You fight Mike, you break up, you cry to Matt, you make up with Mike, and Matt’s lost his chance with you yet another time.
Before he can reply he hears the phone click, you hung up. He knows that you’re probably already reconciling with Mike and even though it makes him mad, it mostly makes him feel helpless. Matt tosses his phone back onto his bedside table before dramatically falling back onto the bed. He knows that if you just opened your eyes you’d realize that he was here all along, that he’d never hurt you.
But, despite his better judgement, Matt will keep picking up your phone calls because he’s a sucker when it comes to you.
The sound of arcade games echo around the building as Matt and his brothers walk around the arcade in an attempt to find the perfect game. They only had a few tokens left, so they had to spend them wisely. You were there too, but you were so immersed in Mike’s presence that it was like you weren’t. Matt had invited you in hopes to finally get you alone, away from Mike. But, that stupid guy followed you like his life depended on it. You were so enthralled by Mike that you hadn’t even played a single game, even Nick and Chris found it annoying.
“What about ski ball?” Chris suggests, the three of them had lapped around the arcade a billion times and still couldn’t find the right game. “No,” Nick says, peering around the arcade for a better game. “Bumper cars?” Chris suggests again, running out of options to say. “We don’t even have enough tokens for that,” Matt scoffs, joining Nick as he looks around the room.
“Fine you pick,” Chris grumbles, leaning against the nearest game as he waits for his brothers to choose. As they’re surveying the room, Nick and Matt see you in the corner talking with your boyfriend. You two seemed to be caught up in an argument like usual, earning an eye roll from Nick. “I don’t know what she sees in that guy,” he comments, trying to read your lips to see what the argument is about. “I hate that guy,” Chris chimes in, joining his brothers in their watch party.
Matt hums in agreement, not wanting to say too much in regard to the situation. He can only assume that you did something Mike didn’t like and now you’re getting in trouble for it. The conversation seems to get heated enough for you to storm off, making your way towards the triplets. “Oh shhh- she’s coming, she’s coming,” Chris warns, trying to act casual.
Nick does the same, leaning against the machine closest to him. Matt’s eyes widen, all he can think to do is turn quickly on his heel to face his brothers. They immediately engage in a fake conversation in attempt to convince you that they weren’t watching. It seems to work.
“Ah yes, McDonalds does have the best chicken nuggets. Good point, Chris,” Nick says as he looks towards his brothers expectantly, but you’re so mad you don’t even notice the ridiculous conversation topic. “Guys you can have my tokens, I’m leaving,” you say, not even introducing yourself with a hello. You pull the tokens out of your pocket, dumping them all in Chris’s hands. He was so excited to have more tokens that he didn’t even care you were leaving.
“Is everything okay?” Matt asks, watching as you hurriedly try to get rid of all your tokens. “No, bro. Stupid Mike, dude. He got mad that I wanted to play so he brought up his ex again, can you believe that?” you scoff, still fishing for more tokens in your pockets. Why was every argument you had with Mike about his ex?
“Gross. Why are you leaving though? You haven’t played a single game,” Nick asks, taking a few tokens from Chris for himself. He and Chris also disliked your boyfriend because you two were always fighting about stupid stuff. But, they weren’t as involved in your love life as Matt was, so they didn’t know how often you two were actually fighting. “Cause he’s my ride and he said he’s leaving,” you grumble, finally looking up from your pockets to look at your friends.
“We can take you home,” Matt suggests, not wanting you to leave just yet. He says it so quickly and eagerly that his brothers give him a weird look, he catches it and coughs awkwardly. “I mean, if you want to stay,” he mumbles in an attempt not to seem so desperate.
You look between your friends and the arcade entrance, trying to decide whether you should stay or go. Matt bites his tongue, trying to prevent himself from saying something he’ll later regret. He wants to grab you by the shoulders and scream that you should just leave that stupid loser.
“I don’t know, it’s getting late,” you attempt to reason as you check your phone for the time. It was only 5pm, but your heart really wanted to follow Mike before he decided he was done with you for real. Upon checking the time, you see a message from Mike that made your stomach turn.
Mike: I left. have fun with your friends. we’re done.
Matt watches as your expression completely drops, you look like you just got the life sucked out of you. “Did he leave?” Matt asks softly, not trying to upset you more than you already were. You shove your phone into you pocket and put on a fake smile, ignoring his question. “It’s only 5, we got time,” you say excitedly, trying to pretend like you didn’t just receive the most heart breaking message ever.
Nick and Chris don’t know any better, so they immediately perk up at this and drag you back into the arcade. Matt, on the other hand, can read you like the back of his hand. He sees how your shoulders slump and how a frown replaces your smile when you think no one’s looking.
Throughout the whole night he wants to scream out, ‘you can be with me now!’ But he knows that you’re not ready, maybe you’ll never be ready. And that, to Matt, is so frustrating.
For the rest of the night the boys work towards distracting you from Mike. They use your tokens to win as many games as possible. Matt is focused primarily on convincing you you should leave Mike for good this time. He watches as you attempt to get the basketball into the net as he says, “I’m just saying, you’d be much happier without that guy.”
You fumble with the basketballs in front of you, missing each shot terribly, but welcoming the distraction from the conversation Matt was trying to have. He watches as you roll your eyes and continuing trying to play the game, “tell me one good thing he’s done.” This statement catches you off guard, you’re sure that Mike is a good guy, but for some reason you can’t think of a single good thing he’s done.
You scoff at Matt, throwing the last basketball at the net only for it to hit the rim and fall out. “He does a lot of good things,” you reply annoyed, watching as the machine disperses your tickets. All you earned from this game was 8 tickets considering you missed more than half the shots. “Okay, then name one,” he retorts, ready to challenge you whether you liked it or not. Your mind is racing trying to think of one good thing Mike has done that Matt would find valid, but you still can’t think of one.
Annoyed, you snatch the tickets from the machine, accidentally tearing the last one in half in the process. Matt watches you, noticing how the frustration seems to get the best of you. He knows you won’t be able to think of a single good thing Mike has done, especially not after he ditched you here to fend for yourself. “See, you can’t even think of one. He treats you so bad, y/n. You don’t deserve that, you deserve someone who’ll treat you right,” Matt says, the both of you walking in the direction where you last saw Nick and Chris.
“Oh yeah? Who would that someone be?” you retort, looking around the entire arcade in search of Nick and Chris. You desperately needed to find them so they could serve as a buffer between you and Matt right now. He was asking too many uncomfortable questions and honestly was starting to push your buttons, he doesn’t know Mike like you do. “I mean, I’ve always treated you right,” Matt’s reply is so bold that it even catches him by surprise, what the hell was he even saying right now? He knew he was setting himself up for heartbreak and the friendzone, but he couldn’t stop himself from saying it.
You look at him briefly, a little shocked that he’d even say that. I mean, you two have been best friends for so long that a relationship with Matt would be like dating a brother. The thought is weird, but you don’t want to offend him, “yeah, but you’re my best friend. Friends are supposed to be nice to each other.” Each time you say friend it feels like a stab to the heart. He seemed to be stuck in the friendzone again and again.
“Y/n! Matt!” Nick calls out from the ticket machine, both he and Chris feeding their tickets into it. You perk up at the sight of them and walk over immediately You feel a wave of relief wash over you when you see them, finally you’ll be able to escape this awkward situation Matt put you in. Matt can’t help but feel sad, but he tries not to show it.
“We’re gonna get a remote control car!” Chris says excitedly, referring to the prize they were going to cash in for using all their tickets. Without another word he takes all yours and Matt’s tickets so he can feed them into the machine. You chuckle at this, finding it amusing.
Matt offers a small smile.
After redeeming your prizes, the four of you decided it was time to head home. You picked out a giant plushie while the three of them combined their tickets for Chris’s remote control car.
Matt pulled up to you house reluctantly, wishing he could kidnap you and take you to their house once he saw Mike’s car parked outside. “Mike’s home?” Chris asks you casually as soon as Matt places the car in park. “Yeah, guess so,” you reply as you unbuckle yourself, trying not to sound too excited. Deep down you were bubbling with emotions, mostly happiness because if Mike is home that means he’s definitely not done with your relationship.
“Bye guys, I had so much fun!” you dismiss yourself eagerly, all you want to do is go inside and reconcile with your boyfriend. Nick and Chris bid you goodbye but Matt stays silent, he doesn’t want you to leave. You hug Nick in the back seat and pat Chris’s shoulder as you open the car door. You offer Matt a small, awkward smile before grabbing your plushie and hopping out of the car.
Matt feels so defeated, if he weren’t such a pushover when it came to you he’d tell you the truth. The truth is that Mike is leading you on, playing with your feelings, abusing of emotions, and flaunting you around like a trophy when he feels like it. The truth is that Matt is in love with you and has been since the first time he saw you, but he’s too scared to ruin your friendship to admit it.
Matt watches as you walk up to your front door, plushie tucked under your arm. There’s an eager pep in your step that makes Matt want to throw up. Chris is scrolling through his phone, forgetting about you as soon as got off the car. Nick is watching Matt, confused as to why he looks so sad. “Are we gonna move? I’m fucking hungry, dude,” Chris groans from the passenger seat, throwing his head back dramatically against the car seat.
You were inside already, but Matt stayed outside your house and watched as the lights in your house turned on one by one. He knew you were searching the house like a madwoman for Mike. “Can you drive?!” Nick chimes in, grabbing Matt by the shoulder to break him from his daze. Matt’s eyes remain trained on your bedroom window, watching as the light turns on and your shadow comes into view as he responds, “yeah, sorry.”
He puts the car in drive, slowly letting the car roll down the street. Matt’s breath hitches as Mike’s shadow comes into view, he’s praying that you’ll just run out of the house and back into the car. The car is slowly rolling down the street, Matt’s foot hovering over the break in an attempt to slow the car down even more. Your shadow and Mike’s meet for a hug and soon enough you’re kissing. Matt’s foot slams on the break suddenly causing the car to jolt forward, he knew it was coming but it didn’t hurt any less.
“What the fuck Matt?!” Chris exclaims, looking up at Matt in bewilderment. The seatbelt was choking him slightly and his phone flew off his lap. Nick’s head hit the front seat headrest slightly, causing him to gasp in surprise. “Matt what the actual fuck are you doing?!” Nick yelled, meeting Matt’s eyes through the rearview mirror.
There was no way Matt was about to admit that he was watching you through your window. So, he made up the quickest lie he could think of, “Sorry. I got a cramp.” He offered both his brothers a fake smile in hopes that they’d believe his lie. It seemed to satisfy them seeing as they rolled their eyes and returned to their phones. Matt took his foot off the break, looking back at your house one last time.
The lights were off.
Matt doesn’t hear from you until two days later. You called him at 12pm, which was completely uncommon for you to do. You were usually calling him at 12am, breaking him from his deep sleep to rant about Mike.
“Hello?” Matt answers the phone immediately, if this is another call about Mike and his stupid actions he’s ready to be honest this time. “You busy?” You ask, propping the phone between your shoulder and your face so you can freely look through the racks of clothing in front of you.
Matt examines his surrounding, trying to decide whether he’s truly busy or not. He’s not. “Mmm not really. Why?” He asks, getting up from his spot on the couch and walking over to his room. He hears the metal hangers scraping against the clothings racks in the background before you reply, “wanted to see if you were down for lunch.”
This was the first time you’d asked him to hang out since dating Mike. He couldn’t fight the smile that grew on his face. “Just you and me or Nick and Chris too,” he needed to sound casual, but he was kicking himself for even mentioning Nick and Chris. What if you said yes to inviting them and his time alone with you turned into a group hangout?
“Up to you, I was hoping for it just to be us,” you reply, picking a shirt off the rack. You examine it carefully as you try imagining yourself in it. You decide you don’t like it and put it back. Matt is doing a silent happy dance on the other side of the phone, he feels like this is his chance to tell you the truth. Plus, you don’t seem to be upset with Mike which means that the conversation probably won’t revolve entirely around that loser.
Matt calms himself down, taking a deep breath before replying, “Cool yeah. Should I meet you somewhere?” He’s trying to act casual, but there is no such thing as casual for Matt when it involves you. “You can. Or I can pick you up?” You reply, walking out of the store and to your car. You walk the street cautiously, thanking the people who let you pass with a small hand wave. For you, this conversation really was normal. Just a friend asking another friend to go out to lunch.
For Matt, this conversation felt like the beginning of something new. A new relationship with you, a new attempt at admitting his feelings, even a new outlook on life. He felt positive. “Yeah that works. Are you close?” He has the biggest smile on his face as he looks through his closet for the perfect outfit.
“I’m like 10 minutes away,” you say mindlessly, pausing as you dig through your purse for your keys. “I’ll let you know when I’m there, okay? Love you, friend,” you finished saying once you found your keys and unlocking your car.
There was that word again. Friend. It made Matt shudder, but he tries ignoring it. He wasn’t going to let that sour his mood. “Alright, bye. Love you too,” he replies, but he means it. He intentionally doesn’t call you friend in hopes that you’ll take the hint.
All you do is hum in response and hang up. It breaks Matt’s heart, but he ignores it.
You pick Matt up, arriving to his house exactly 10 minutes later. The two of you decide on a restaurant, engaging in light conversation throughout your meal. Matt couldn’t find the courage to confess to you, especially not with the thought of Mike looming over him.
Matt felt incredibly anxious, his mind racing uncontrollably with all the possible outcomes of tonight. He could confess and it could go one of two ways, you could feel the same or you could reject him for Mike like all the times before. Or he could keep it to himself and remain in the friendzone forever.
The two of you are now walking back to your car, ready to call it a night. “Thanks for coming out with me,” you say with a smile as you hop into the drivers seat. Matt follows suit, getting into the passenger side before replying, “of course, anything for you.” The comment was simple, but it had so many underlying messages that he wished you’d pick up on. ‘Anything for you.’
You seem to pick up some sort of message because you reply with a chuckle, “you’re always saying sappy stuff like that Matt.” He gulps nervously, was this his chance? You start the car, the radio playing dully in the background. The noise replaces the previous silence, only adding to his own frustration, especially because he hated this song. He couldn’t decide whether to do it or not.
“I hate this song,” you mumble, changing the station to another song quickly. He takes this as a sign, a sign to just bite the bullet and spill it all. He needs to start off slow though, if he’s too abrasive it’ll scare you, “so, how are you and Mike doing?”
You two hadn’t spoken about Mike the entire night and for good reason too. The night you got back from the arcade he made a bunch of empty promises, adding in a bunch of fake apologies in between. You, of course, ended up forgiving him only for him to mess up again the next day. So, you decided you were finally done with him and broke up with him for good. Usually when you two would break up you’d allow him back into your life within hours, but this time you blocked him on everything and forced him to move out. Today was your first day as a truly single woman and it felt like a breath of fresh air. You were repulsed by men and decided you were going to be single for a while.
“We broke up actually,” you say calmly, making a long story short. Matt knew all the details of your previous arguments with Mike so there was no point in explaining the obvious. He’s in shock, actually in shock. This is the first time you’ve ‘broken’ up with Mike and weren’t completely hysterical about it.
“When did this happen?!”
You turn the corner onto Matt’s street, nearing his house slowly. “Yesterday morning. I kicked him out and he’s coming for the rest of his stuff tomorrow,” you say like it was the most normal thing ever. How were you so calm? So casual?
Mike moving out was the best news ever, that means that it’s real this time. “Wow. How are you?” he asks. He needs to test the waters before diving head first, especially if he’s going to confess something so important.
“I’m okay. Honestly, I’m not as sad as I thought I’d be. I’m just ready to be single,” you reply, placing the car in park in front of his house. He digests the information, trying to come to terms with the fact that you want to be single. “Right now I’m repulsed at the thought of men. I’m just so done crying over guys, you know? I’m ready to just hang out with my friends and be free.”
“I’m a man. Are you repulsed at the thought of me?” Matt asks in an attempt to make light of the information you just dumped on him. He’s trying not to freak out right now. “No, dude! I mean like men that I’d date. You’re my best friend, it’s different,” you reply, the words cutting into Matt. Everything you just said felt like an insult.
The car is filled with an awkward silence, neither of you know what to say after that. The same song from earlier plays, the song you hate and suddenly it feels more like a bad omen to Matt. You cough in an attempt to break the tension, but Matt remains silent, he feels like he can’t breathe right now.
“Well I had fun today, Matt,” you finally say, unlocking the car so he can use it as an excuse to escape this situation. You don’t know why the conversation suddenly became so awkward, all you know is that this felt weird and you didn’t want to sit in it for longer than you had to.
“Me too,” he replies meekly, struggling to unbuckle himself. “Here let me help,” you offer, reaching towards his seat to help him with the buckle. It all becomes too much as he pushes your hand away, “stop. I got it.” You look at him in shock. What was his problem?
Before you can comment on his behavior, he opens the car door and stumbles out. He can’t seem to leave this situation fast enough. You watch in confusion as he walks into his house without another word. You are worried, but decide he’s just being dramatic and drive off.
Once he’s inside he feels the emotions intensify as he immediately collapses onto the floor. He’s out of breath and his head is ringing with the words you said, ‘No dude! I mean like men that I’d date. You’re my best friend, it’s different.’ He’s hyperventilating at this point, the tears flowing uncontrollably down his face as heaves in an attempt to catch his breath.
Nick and Chris who were in the living room hear this and immediately bolt towards Matt. “Matt? What’s wrong?” Chris asks frantically, getting on his knees to be eye level with his brother. Matt doesn’t respond, instead he grabs onto his Chris and pulls him in for a hug and sobs into his shoulder. He’s desperate for comfort, but nothing seems like enough. Chris understands what his brother needs, holding him tightly in an attempt to console him.
“He’s having a panic attack, let’s take him to his room,” Nick says equally as frantic, squatting in front of his two brothers so he can rub Matt’s back. Chris and Nick attempt to pick Matt up, but he’s glued to the floor, still holding on to Chris for dear life.
“It’s okay buddy, I got you,” Chris says calmly, not wanting to escalate the situation any further. Matt continues to cry, allowing his brothers to comfort him. “Deep breaths, Matt. Deep breaths,” Chris instructs, pulling Matt off of him slightly so he can get it together. Matt nods his head, using all his will power to stop crying and focus on his breathing. Finally, he’s able to calm down and his sobbing is reduced to sniffles.
“Wanna talk about it?” Nick asks lovingly, sitting next to Matt on the floor and rubbing more circles onto his back. “No,” Matt replies, his voice hoarse from all the crying. He looks down at his hands and plays with his rings to occupy his mind. “That’s okay, we’re here for you when you’re ready,” Chris chimes in, taking a seat on the other side of Matt. He rests his head on Matt’s shoulder, patting his thigh to signify that he’s willing to sit here with him for as long as necessary.
“Thanks,” Matt replies sadly, resting his head against the wall behind him. He’s never felt as defeated as he does right now. He’s stuck in the friendzone again and again.
MASTERLIST
A/n:
Honestly such a great request, but I had to keep re-listening to the song to write a story as accurate as possible to it. That’s why there’s no happy ending because the song clearly states that he’s stuck in the friendzone again and again, but I’m willing to do a pt.2 with a happy ending or just a diff outcome. Hope you enjoy.
Also, I’ll be expecting the foot

Yandere Hollyberry, Cacao, Golden Cheese, and Pure Vanilla Cookies when Y/N tries to escape them by swimming through dangerous waters
Tumblr media
Dark Cacao Cookie would be PISSED, how can you be SO FOOLISH that you’d jump into the Licorice Sea. Didn’t you know that you could die!? Drowning, being eaten by a monster, stolen away by Mer-Cookies, anything bad could happen to you and this ancient king wouldn’t let that happen. Dark Cacao Cookie would take off the heavy pieces of his armor as well as his cape and dived in to get you. Unfortunately for you this king, being a bigger & taller cookie, quickly caught up to you and dragged a struggling you back to shore and then- back to your isolated room. When you were chained back into place, Dark Cacao would then let out a long berating session about why you ever would have thought to run away from him, and especially trying to swim in the Licorice Sea. But after the tangent, Dark Cacao Cookie kissed your forehead and cuddled you for the rest of the night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now HollyBerry Cookie understands why you were trying to leave. It really wasn’t right to keep another cookie locked in a place without access to the outside world, but it was for your own good. Other Cookies would have taken you away from her, and she could never handle that. So seeing you try to swim away from her was heartbreaking. But same as DCC, she would put her shield down and jump in to get you back. Once she got you and dragged you back to shore, she would have Wildberry Cookie take you back to her room, have you dry off (within the privacy of being alone in your room, Wildberry isn’t gonna watch you!-), and redressed into warm clothes. After which she would come in, locking the door behind her, and tuck you into your bed, then lightly scolding you for trying to run away, noting that you would’ve gotten seriously injured by doing that. But after she was done, she’d cuddle up to you and let drowsiness take over the two of you.
Tumblr media
“Y/N COOKIE! WHERE ARE YOU!” The guards shouted as they searched the floating kingdom, but it was no use, you had gotten out of the kingdom disguised as a Cacaoian merchant and were riding a horse away from the area. you had made it to a coastal gummy bear village and had sold the horse for a decent amount of coins before a few guards and Pure Vanilla found you, you quickly took the money and ran, thinking of how you could escape now. you then looked into the water while running and remembered and it would take awhile for the sogginess to harm you, so you secured the gold to you and jumped into the water and swam as fast as you could away from the guards. Pure Vanilla Cookie’s guards quickly ran in and swam after you, they quickly gained up on you, capturing you and dragging a thrashing Y/N Cookie back to the sickeningly sweet Ancient.
The same ancient who wrapped his robed arms around you so softly and took you back to the floating kingdom then to the shimmering white and light yellow castle. locking the both of you into a warm, SAFE room where you belong, warm…safe…alive….happy….and in his arms……
“Why must I be imprisoned by the cookies who love me so” Rang through Y/N cookie’s mind
((Hello EveryCookie! The author here, I just wanted to say that I don’t own any of these characters, the Ancient cookies belong to DevSisters and even Y/N Cookie belongs to you all! I
also wanted to thank you all for reading this first attempt at posting on Tumblr! I hope y’all enjoy it and I would love to write your guys’ requests if you have any! Have a great day/night!))

Daryl x Reader
Tumblr media
daryl x reader fic
requested by my mutual
this is my first time actually writing a one shot on tumblr and honestly i’m so exited. i’m still tryna figure out this app bc i literally downloaded it feb. 7th so plz forgive me i’m just a girl. also ignore that none of the “i”s are capitalized i really don’t care.
HOW DO YALL CHECK THAT WORD COUNT??
no warnings other than talking about eating sun disgusting ass food
if i do a part two there’ll be sm!t 🫣
I drew into the dirt absentmindedly with my fingers, bored out of my goddamn mind while Daryl cooks a snake over the fire. I didn’t look at it, because as queasy as i already was from hunger i wasn’t gonna make it worse. I had already eaten a few worms yesterday, something i’d never thought i would’ve done. To be honest, it was Daryl’s idea.
I had been doing everything to stay by his side after the prison fell, including silently obeying him and following him around like a lost puppy. I probably could survive on my own, but having someone by my side made it way easier. I got lucky being stuck with him, at least in the survival sense. Emotionally, or even socially, he was on airplane mode. He barely spoke, barely even looked at me. I didn’t mind it so much for a day or two, but it’s about to be day four. I couldn’t take it anymore.
He used his dirty knife to cut the snake in half, then peeled the skin off. It sorta reminded me of those giant gummy worms that you could get at a candy store, except pink and charred with visible bones.
“Here.” He reached across the small fire to hand me it. I looked up in disgust, hesitantly reaching out to eat the… thing.
It was chewy, like a well done steak. It didn’t taste like that though. It tasted pretty earthy, almost like a bug or something. The closest thing i can compare it too was grasshopper flavored fish. Wow, so appetizing.
I ate my entire half, and ripping off a small piece of rib bone from the spine to clean my teeth. I stared into the fire, like Daryl did. I used the back of my hand to wipe my mouth, unfortunately only spreading more dirt onto my face. Daryl looked about the same.
“What are we doing?” I blurted out, my voice a little hoarse from not talking all day.
Daryl looked up from the fire, staring at me blankly. His eyes practically glowed that pretty steel blue color, and I already felt slightly unnerved from his stare.
“Are we even gonna try to look for anyone, or are we just gonna keep running everyday?” I continued on, my voice growing stronger as I felt more emotions setting in.
“No point.” He grunted after a few seconds of silence.
“But there is. We need the rest of the group, they could all be still alive, together, maybe.”
“Look around, do ya see anyone waitin for us?” He spat, his voice getting a little louder.
“Your a tracker, so track.” I hissed, my eyes narrowed as i felt more and more frustrated with this man.
“Fine. Get yer ass up.” Before I could even think or retort back, He grabbed his crossbow and started kicking dirt into our little fire.
“Daryl, it’s dark…” I muttered, suddenly feeling small at the way he’s acting so pissed.
“This whatchu want, right?” He grabs my arm and yanks me upwards, and I stumble a little before tearing my arm back.
“Stop. Stop it right now.” I stare into his eyes, clenching my jaw a little in anger.
He starts pacing, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He’s trying to hide his face from me.
“There ain’t no point… what if- what if they’re all gone? I can’t… i won’t…” He wipes his eyes with the back of his arm, and i realize, he’s fucking crying. I can handle children crying, even other girls. But when a grown man cries… it makes me want to start sobbing.
My heart sinks and i feel an awful twinge in my stomach. I shouldn’t have pushed him. Fuck me…
“Hey…” My mouth has gone dry, i’m not totally sure what to do here. With the fire gone, and only the moonlight to allow me to see his face, im struggling.
“S’ not… I don’t know what to do.” He chokes a little, and that was my final straw. I pull him in towards me, grabbing his huge tan arms gently. I take the back of his head and put it against my neck, rubbing his back gently. His hands fall limply at his sides as he gives up.
“S’ gonna be alright. We can start lookin tomorrow, alright? You’ve got me. I’m here.” I speak softly and slowly as i reassure him. I’m hoping i’m saying all the right things. He wraps his arms around my waist tightly, restricting my breathing a little.
I hold him there for a long time, rubbing his back slowly as he silent cries into my shoulder. It felt right, comforting him. I was good at it. He needed this badly, and i hoped my optimism would rub off on him.
I pull his head off my shoulder, cupping his face in my hands. They look tiny here, holding him like this. I wipe some of the tears off his pretty face with my thumbs. His eyes bore into the ground, not meeting mine. I knew he felt embarrassed, but it was just the two of us. I wasn’t going to tell a single soul, nobody could make me spill his secrets even through torture.
I brush away some of his greasy brown hair, kissing his forehead gently. His eyes snapped up to meet mine. Shit… was that too much? I force myself to keep a calm expression, gazing at his puffy red eyes.
“M’ gonna start the fire again, okay?” I say gently. He nods, taking a step back and sitting down on the ground.
I fumble the lighter a little in my hands as i grab the kindling, and a small flame peeks through. i slowly start adding more fuel, until a steady flame is going. I scoot back to sit next to Daryl again, gently guiding his body down until his head is resting on my lap.
“C’mere.”
His huge body weighs down on my thigh, but I honestly didn’t care at all. I brushed my fingers through his messy hair, careful to not tug on any knots as i did so. He looked sorta beautiful like this.
Wait what the fuck. My mind started racing. This man was easily forty years old, covered in dirt and sweat and walker blood. Id known him and treated him like a friend for nearly two years now, but now… I treated him as if he was glass. He probably felt like it, broken after standing strong against all the hardship he’s faced his whole life. I knew bits and pieces, how he depended on Merle since he couldn’t rely on his shitty dad. His mom has been gone since he was a child.
I needed to be here for him. He’s become my protector, but I, a young woman, cared for him in a way i hadn’t for anyone else in a long time.
His chest rose and fell peacefully, and I knew he was starting to fall asleep. There wasn’t much to protect us from the elements other than a small wool blanket we’d been sharing for the past few days. I grabbed my bag, and carefully moved his head off my thighs to rest on the bag instead. I stepped around his body and curled up against his chest, making myself little spoon. I grabbed his crossbow, curling that close to my body just in case. I felt his arm swing around me, pulling me just a bit closer than i already was.
“Ya okay here?” He asked, speaking softly into my ear.
“Mhm.” His deep voice sent a shiver down my spine. I closed my eyes, smiling just a little. What a funny man.

~ The Plea ~
prompt: #33 “Are you going to talk to me?”
requested by: @chuyasthighs0
summary: Y/N seeks out Jin-Man after hearing about the loss in his family.
pairing: Y/N x Jeong Jin-Man
warnings: blood, torture, death, scars, ptsd, Bale’s just a dick man we’ve all seen the show
word count: 871
a/n: I tried to keep what Y/N looked like brief just in case it got a bit too much but if people do want a in depth description to what I imagine I can edit it <3 Requests are open! Prompt list is there if you guys want extra ideas
Master-List - Prompts
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long before Y/N caught word of what Bale had done. I mean she worked pretty much side by side with Honda so when she arrived back from holiday to find the shop burnt down she immediately went into panic mode. After searching in every safe house or apartment they had in the general area she finally decided to take a more direct approach.
Standing in the middle of Babylon was a questionable decision but frankly she was going to get answers. Luckily she was seen out of kindness but Yong-Han was not one to mince words. He thought he owed her the courtesy because of her blood that he kept her alive in the attack against Jeong Jin-Man. It took longer than it should’ve for her to pull herself together in front of him but luckily he did not question her. He simply let her leave with her life, a mistake he’d regret in the future.
Now she stands shrouded in darkness watching the movement inside the Jeong house. She could see at least 2 shadows move about the house; an adult and a toddler. As the toddler's shadow disappeared into a room with no windows, Y/N assumed that Ji-an was asleep now. Y/N already knew about Ji-an from Yong-Han so she had to go about this a different way. If it was going to be difficult to approach Jin-Man before it will be even harder now. But she has to and so she moves against the darkness but it wouldn’t have made a difference as Jin-Man already knew she was there.
She clocked the unlocked door, there was no way he was that stupid. However, she was stupid enough to go in despite what was probably waiting for her on the other side. As she pushed the door open slowly she put both hands up and walked in hands first to show she was unarmed, a smart choice really since as she fully entered the house she was met with a silenced pistol between the eyes. The cool barrel really took a moment to adjust too but it definitely got her on high alert.
“I’m here alone.” Was the first thing she could think to stutter out. Jin-Man scoffed behind the gun at the comment, of course she did he would’ve known otherwise. At least she was telling him the truth though.
“I didn’t know…I was away…Honda never told me…” It was almost like Y/N couldn’t fully decide on what point she was supposed to lead with. How was she supposed to convince a man not to kill her just like Bale killed his brother?
“I just… I just want to help. Whether it’s revenge or what, I want to help you.” As she spoke the barrel was still against her head but there was space between the door and her so she took the opportunity to take a step back to finally look at him instead of the gun. Jin-Man just continued to stare through her, it was a lifeless stare in his eyes, he’d never looked at her like that before.
“Are you going to talk to me?” She pleads. He keeps the gun level but takes a step back himself creating a bit more space between them. She couldn’t help but notice how tired he looked, he was thinner as well like he hadn’t eaten properly. The grief was killing him literally.
“You expect me,” The sound of his voice shocked her, he spoke with so much anger and venom, “to believe YOU want to help me?” The emphasis on you stung and he noticed. However, the sting quickly turned sour when faced with reality. Y/N finally stopped looking at Jin-Man with nothing, almost like the soul in the body had gone.
“Do you really think?” As Y/N spoke she took off the jacket covering her body, as she did all of the worry that was once written over Y/N’s face was now written over Jin-Man’s. It took him a few moments to fully register what she was telling him, “That all of this hasn’t been going on his entire life?”
It was hard for Y/N to fully hold eye contact with Jin-Man, She watched as his gaze towards her softened but they still stood there mere steps across the room from each other as Jin-Man still hadn’t dropped the gun. It was like everything was moving too slowly that by the time Jin-Man had finally dropped the gun Y/N’s skin was covered in goosebumps from the breeze. He dropped it in one quick movement that cut them out of the moment they were in and Y/N swiftly picked up her jacket and put it back on, she got her point across.
“Did you mean it?” Jin-Man thought maybe he was stupid for trusting her. How much can blood really be different? Something about her though, he didn’t pity her he was intrigued by the look in her eyes.
“Mean what?” She was trying to hide the surprise in her voice that she had gotten his far without being shot. She was willing to go along with whatever she asked at this point, there was something about the look in his eyes.
“About revenge?”

“With many words behind (I said I love you again)”
CHISHIYA X AFAB!READER
WARNINGS: SMUT. Jealous Chishiya.
Tumblr media
Chishiya Shuntaro is not a man you want to fuck with. He’s the smartest in The Beach executives, and can easily get you killed without anyone knowing that it was planned by him. But don’t get me wrong, he’s not that intense with everybody. Just to people who try to get close to what’s his.
You? Oh you were the new fucking annoying executive. He didn’t understand how a person can be so stupid, (because he prefers calling it like that rather than clumsy.) Most of the time you were talking with your “friends” who are his “friends” (More like Kuina’s friends) So both of you have come across and obviously “get along”
Or that’s what Kuina tells him. He always had to be next to you so you wouldn’t get hurt or make a mess. And he hated that.
Chishiya was waiting with other executives in the “reunion” room for you. You were late again.
“Oh my god Arisu! We finally found the room” You chuckled, you’ve been spending like 10 minutes looking for this “reunion” room. “Thank you for helping me finding it.”
They could hear you talking with Arisu behind the door, it’s not like he wanted to know what you were talking about, you were just too loud.
You entered the room a little embarrassed of your late entry. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t find the room, and I went with Arisu so he could-“
“This is an exclusive place for executives, leave the boyfriend in your room next time.”
“I’m sorry.” You murmured.
You were now here for enough time to know where the executives usually have their reunions. He’s been knowing you for months now and he doesn’t know why he still hasn’t made you quit or leave.Maybe because he didn’t wanted.
It’s just something about you that annoyed him so much. He was so mean and cold towards you and you still didn’t have anything against him like the others. You always kept that smile and sweet modals towards everybody. If it wasn’t for him, you would’ve been eaten alive by the horny man’s of The Beach. He’s a man too, he knows what they try to do. It’s not like he threatened them to stay away from you. Now… thinking about that, maybe he should do the same with Arisu.
The next day you were at the pool, you were just swimming around and talking with some people, it was a day off.
You decided to get something to drink, so you got to the bar next to the pool and just asked for some water. While you were waiting for it, you felt a hand touching your shoulder and making your turn to them.
“Oh Niragi, hi!” You said to him smiling with your eyes. Oh poor you… you didn’t know with who you were talking with.  You had known him for a while now, even though you never talked to him, you just didn’t feel like it or he doesn’t get near you. I ask myself why..
“Oh hey doll, whatcha’ doing?” He said, now moving his hand on your shoulder lower until he got into grabbing your hand.
You followed his movement with your eyes, you were confused, why is he doing this? “I’m just here for some water” You continued talking with him.
Chishiya was clenching his fists, nails digging into his palms that he swears now they had blood on them. He was seeing how Niragi was touching you. It’s like pretty obvious the reputation Niragi had around here, why are you talking with him?!
Just at this moment, Chishiya realized everything has changed. His heart towards you had a whole different meaning now.
Secretly, secretly, secretly.
So he couldn’t even think about what he was doing right now, he went to where both of you were, and then he had his arm around your waist grabbing you almost possessively. He had a forced smile looking at Niragi. “Oh wow, I didn’t know that you had plans to come here with y/n Niragi.. I might as well join both of you, haha..”
He slightly let go of your waist when he got closer to Niragi’s ear with a smirk.
“I will fucking end you if you don’t get your hands off y/n now. I don’t want this to repeat okay? Let’s not repeat what happened last time yeah?”
Niragi had a smirk on his face, but he just clicked his tongue and left with no explanation. Leaving you very confused.
“What’s wrong with you Chishiya? Why did you did that?” You asked him, you were not upset but genuinely confused.
He stayed quiet just looking at you. Wait. She’s right.. why did I did that? Like, why do I care so much for her? Shit. For some reason, the closer I get to you, I realize we’re really living under the same sky and i’ll never stop seeing you. Only because you are you.
“Chishiya! Answer me! I hate when you’re like this! You do things without any explanation and just doing whatever you want!” You said taking his hand out of your waist.
He finally talked when he felt the lost of your warm touch. “You know what I hate? Seeing you laughing with Niragi like he doesn’t want to fuck you. But oh… c’mon, we both know what he was trying to do when he was right here.”
“W-what?” You chuckled, “You’re really funny, why should I ever want to fuck with Niragi? I mean like I was just-“ He interrupted you now grabbing you by your arm and pulling you closer to him.
“Oh. So you think it’s funny to tease me with that fucker over there, huh?”
“Te-tease?! What? What the hell are you talking about Chishiya? Why you’re acting this way towards me now?”
“Why i’m acting this way? oh, maybe it’s because-“ Because I like you. And don’t want you to get with someone else. Shit, what? He stopped talking for a moment, with a frown on his face. “Y’know what? Never mind.” He didn’t even gave you time to process and complain or ask anything because he left as fast as possible.
The next day, everything was blurry. Chishiya couldn’t understand what’s going on between his heart and mind. Everything now tasted sweet as candy. Not even Kuina could understand what’s going on with him.
When the day started, Chishiya woke up to the sun which was so dazzling as always. But actually, this morning he didn’t hate this. He was kinda of hyped? It’s not like he shows it up, but you can see (barely, need to pay attention) that he seems more relaxed and open.
But, now you ruined his mood. He saw you talking to Arisu again, laughing with him, smiling with him, touching him. He doesn’t understand why he feels this way, it’s you have this power over him. For some reason, the closer he gets to you, he despises you more. But it’s not that he doesn’t love you, because it will change him.
Oh. Fuck. Now he understands why he’s feeling this way towards you.
Compared to other girls, you’re an illusion. You’re way too good to be in a plural of them “girls” You were prettier, more kind, funnier, and you were perfect. That’s what he hates about you. He seems himself shabbily trapped in the idea of having you by his side. He has hardened his heart for this not to happen, but someway you got through it.
And oh well… he was fucked.
He clenched his teeth at the sight of you being too close with Arisu for his liking.
fuck it.
He quickly went to grab you by the arm, and got you far away from Arisu until both of you were at his room.
“Ouch Chishiya! That hurts” You whined at the sudden action of him taking you away with no warning. “Let me go!”
He let you go with a cold haze but he started caressing your arm.
“I’m sorry.” He broke the silence now looking at you.
“What’s wrong with you Chishiya? You’ve been acting weird for days now! It’s getting really annoying.” You crossed your arms.
“Because you could be in danger with the others, who knows what they want to do with you.” Shit. Just confess you asshole.
“Why do you care so much?!” You raised your voice. “You’ve been treating me like a toy this days! Just doing whatever you want”
“I’m doing it so I can protect you.”
“PROTECT ME FOR WHAT? IM ALREADY AN ADULT CHISHIYA! JUST STOP GETTING IN MY WAY.”
“It’s for your own good y/n-“
“YOU DONT KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR ME CHISHIYA! YOU’RE NOT MY DAD! YOU DONT HAVE ANY REASON TO DO THIS!”
“IM DOING THIS BECAUSE I LOVE YOU Y/N”
Oh shit. He was so damned. This wasn’t the way he planned this. Why should he still be behind you taking care of you when he can be by your side? He prepared so far to say this (just to leave behind the words he prepared)
“W-what?”
“I’m in love with you Y/N”
You got closer to him, maybe you’re going to slap him? No. Maybe punch him?
“Kiss me.” Oh well. That wasn’t expected.
“Huh? y/n what- mmh!” He left a small groan at the sudden kiss.
His lips tasted as sweet as candy. They were soft and they were like they’re made for you.
Both of you let go for a moment to catch your breath “Kiss me again.”  He said. You let out a whine as he put an arm around your waist, squeezing almost too low.
You leaned forward, dragging the wetness of your lips across his cheek. You felt his breath hitch as you smoothed your palms over his chest, hooking one of your fingers into his swim trunks. You kissed his earlobe soft, your tongue barely grazing the cartilage. You felt his heart beat a little quicker against your hand.
“You’re such a tease, aren’t you?”
You gave him large, doe eyes as he rubbed soft circles over your hipbones with the pads of his thumbs. You nodded your head in agreement, giving him a stupid smile as you moved to break away from his touch.
“Sorry, Chishiya” you said, feigning sadness and giving him dramatic fake tears. “Maybe I should stop before you kill someone.” You chuckled at the thought.
You turned away from him, trying to leave him , but he reached for your waist again. You let out huff of annoyance as he pulled you flush against his front, his hands crossing in front of your body.
You turned your head as he lifted his eyes, his lips pink and wet as he let his eyes wander over your face, searching for any sign of how you were feeling. You spun to face him, pushing him back with forceful hands so he hit the wall behind him.
“With many words behind, I finally said I love you.” he whispered, his hands coming up your sides. You ignored the tickling sensation it gave you, shaking your head.
He chuckled a little, lowering his body a little until he was on his knees. Your eyes widened a little.
“I’m sometimes an asshole” he agreed, kissing your stomach as soon as he settled in front of you.
“If by a sometimes, you mean always, sure,” you struggled to breathe as his hands came down your bare legs, stroking the skin of your thighs as he kissed your stomach again. He watched as your eyes began to pool with a softness that hadn’t been there before, a relief he hadn’t seen yet.
You let out a gasp as he dipped his head, his lips wet against your inner thigh as he kissed. You were forced to lean forward, your palms flat against the wall as he continued to kiss your thighs from underneath you. You whimpered as he sat up on his knees, pulling your hips tight against him as he kissed the bare skin above the waistband of your underwear (bikini). A knot in the pit of your belly was growing rapidly now.
“If that means I can be your asshole always, then let me be it.” He moved one of your hands to rest on his shoulder as he hooked on of your legs around his neck.
You let out a whine as he kissed your heat, although still clothed, with a wetness that made your head fall back.
“Shut up Chishiya..”
You closed your leg around his head hard, forcing his lips onto your core. You let out a gasp as his tongue slowly emerged from between his lips, caressing your folds as he gathered your wetness into his mouth. His eyes fluttered shut just for a moment as he relished the taste of you.
Eyes rolled back in your head as you felt his tongue wrap around your sensitive bud. You were driven by adrenaline and that coil tightening in your stomach, the wet sounds that were produced by his skillful mouth had you crazy.
“Fuck, you’re so good,” he said huskily, his eyes wild as he quickened the darting of his tongue. “lemme hear you.”
You obliged, letting out soft whines of his name as he continued to suck on your bundle of nerves. You watched him through brown eyes as he let a few fingers slip into you, curling as soon as they bottomed out. You gripped his wrist, setting a quick pace as he lapped at your heat. Before long, your walls were clenching around his fingers as his wet muscle paid special attention to your aching, sensitive clit.
“That’s it, th’s my girl,” Mine. All mine now. he breathed, his fingers slowing their pace as you began to see stars. “Fuck, come for me, all over my fingers.”
Your senses on overdrive as you hit the most anticipated climax you had ever felt. He milked you through your moment of pleasure, collecting your excitement as he lapped at your folds. You panted a little, your cheeks flushed as he pulled away from you.
He got back on his feet. Licking your juices from his fingers looking straight at you.
“I will always be by your side. You’re never alone again. I am by your side.” He said grabbing you from the waist.
“I think you have a little problem there” You giggled at him, breaking his trance he had watching you.
“Huh? What?” You looked down to his crotch, and looked back at a flustered Chishiya looking at his ‘little’ problem. “Oh.”

(A/N: Okay, so I wanted to explain how I used this song for my fic (CANDY-NCT DREAM), Basically the song speaks about a break up, and going to a new “phase” leaving your loved person behind even though you still love them. So I interpreted this as Chishiya hiding his love with “hate” towards reader, since he didn’t wanted to go to the other “phase” of now loving them. I hope you understand it! And I hope you like it too, since this one is my favorite so far ♡)

Night at Lottie's
Tumblr media
“Where are you parents again? On a business trip” Nat asked from Lottie’s bed, Wannabe by the Spice Girls played in the bedroom, Natalie didn’t exactly enjoy that but whatever made her princess happy.
“They are at a funeral actually” Lottie answered from her spot in a rocking chair near the bed, lately she has been getting into reading, the current book she’s reading? Poems of Sappho, she told you and Nat multiple times that she would’ve loved to join a book club, if only those were real…
Nat frowned but before she could say anything Lottie continued “Uncle Joe passed away last night”.
After her affirmation Nat moved from the bed and got closer to Lottie, placing a hand on her knee “I’m so sorry Lottie…was it a peaceful death at least?”
“He was actually eaten alive by a dolphin-” Lottie couldn’t even finish her sentence, suddenly interrupted by the door slamming open, you were running for no apparent reason, maybe the writers just need a narrative expedient to make you end up sprawled on the bed…or maybe not…who knows? I definitely don’t.
Either way, Nat’s backpack, which was conventionally thrown on the floor, made you trip and not so gracefully fall on the bed, face planted in the mattress, bum in the air, emitting a little groan.
“Eager aren’t you?” Nat exclaims and without missing a bit she gets closer to you and just like you landed on the bed her hand lands on your ass, giving it a smack.
Lottie gasps still sitting comfortably on her chair, looking intensively at your interaction with Natalie “Little sapphics” she whispers with a hint of amusement.
“Hey!” you yell at the contact of Nat’s palm with your skin, but Nat doesn’t really seem to care since she has her hands already placed on your hips, flipping you around and manhandling you until your back was against the headboard, her body straddling yours and keeping your hands in hers. And even though you felt like a barbie being tossed around by a three year old kid you actually didn’t mind at all, and while you and Nat were clearly having the time of your life Lottie opened a package of organic rice cakes and munched on it while watching attentively “It’s just like national geographic” she mumbled to herself while chewing.
Nat leaned in for a kiss and who were you to comply after all, and as the smooching got more and more heated your bodies grew sweatier and sweatier, especially your hands, making Nat falter, causing your foreheads to collide in a painful crash.
“STOP STOP STOP!!!! CUT OFF THE CAMERAS CHAD! NATALIE, Y/N ARE YOU GUYS OKAY?”
“NO!”
“OH DAMN, MHHH, 20 MINUTE BREAK EVERYONE!”
*some time later*
As Natalie straddled you, with her hands on the wooden headboard this time, Lottie, finally may I add, got up from the rocking chair placing her rice cakes on in and walking to the bed sitting down on it next to Nat who was already aiming at your shirt pulling it off with ease, revealing your bra. Natalie shifts over to look for something in the drawer, rummaging through it and pulling out a quite peculiar object out of it.
“Is it a unicorn horn?” Lottie wonders as soon as she looks at it
“I’m pretty sure it’s a dildo Lottie” you said, still laying under Natalie, your affirmation made Lottie’s eyes squint “Then why is it rainbow?”
“I don’t know maybe it’s gay” you shrugged as Natalie kissed your neck not really caring about whatever conversation was going on between the two of you, raging hormones they say.
Slowly realising the destination of the gay allegated sparkly rainbow toy Lottie’s eyes widened  "NAT! NO.... IT'S NOT BIG ENOUGH!!" Lottie yanks it out of Nat's hand, and gets out her purple- "it's not purple its heliotrope, damn I’ve told this to the production so many times and nobody listens"... heliotrope dildo... it was bigger than the rainbow one “It kinda reminds me of an octopus” you said as you looked down at the thing “Did you know that one of the tentacles of an octopus is actually it’s dick?”
“Not now Lottie please” Nat brushed her off as she started undoing your pants, pulling them off she smirked at the sight of your undies...Peppa Pig printed underwear was really something...Natalie bit her lip she took off her own pants, as did Lottie. Nat was wearing her super special underwear, pink Hello kitty underwear, Lottie on the other end showed off her spiderman (writers care to specify it’s PS game spiderman) panties.
"So…my little gold digger…”
“Lottie, leave the dirty talk to me please-”
“SHUT UP...can I tie you up??" You look at Lottie... and shake your head, you already knew what was going to happen, she did it all the time, and you needed money for that one dinosaur pillow. As expected Lottie groaned and pulled out  her wallet which was conventionally already on the bed "I'll pay you"
"deal..!" You happily take the money shoving it inside Nat’s bra “Keep it safe baby” you gave her breasts a pat pat “Since when are my knockers a piggy bank” she mumbled but neither you or Lottie paid too much attention to that.
Lottie had already taken out the purple…no wait…heliotrope ropes she kept stored in a small box and tied your wrists up to the bedpost. So now that you’re stuck like a worm on a hook Nat and Lottie exchange a knowing look, as Natalie adjusts a harness to her hips
“Kinda looks like a bricklayer's belt”
“Shut up”
Then she immediately pulls off your panties and once they are discarded she lays her chin on the mattress to see your core "....mmph…" Nat hums in satisfaction once she sees the faucet was left running “While Lottie’s parents cry at the funeral I make this pussy cry”
“HEY UNCLE JOE WAS-” “DON’T THINK ABOUT UNCLE JOE RIGHT NOW LOTTIE”
Suddenly Lottie shoves Nat away, taking her turn to stare at you. Determined, Nat pushed Lottie down the bed, gracefully slapping her face with the glittery gay dildo, and just like that, after she regained her spot on top of you, the object found its home…once again.
After a couple of small thrusts Natalie really started going at it and you started moaning, in that exact moment, jealousy creeped inside Lottie and once again Nat was shoved away, this time ruthlessly shoved down the bed and onto the floor. Taking Nat’s out of you so she could insert the heliotrope toy. Your faucet kept running, until it broke and Lottie cheered, she broke it first.. and Natalie groaned still on the floor, annoyed.
Lottie carefully unties your wrists, placing little kisses on the small bruises the ropes caused.  "You want shoulder rubs?" Lottie asked, while pulling you on her chest to let you rest your back against her breasts "What about pussy rubs?" Nat smirked.
Before you could answer, Lottie shoved a rice cake in your mouth as Nat just groaned, unbuckling her harness and throwing it aside.
Lottie pampered you with little kisses on the top of your head while she rubbed both your shoulders and neck, slowly, Nat crawled back on the bed, giving a kiss to both you and Lottie, hugging the two of you and laying her head on your shoulder.
*later that night*
“Y/N? Are you still awake?”
“Yeah”
"I never got to fiddle with your riddle”
“Technically you-”
“LOTTIE ROBBED THE GLORY!!!"
If you've reached the end, here's your throphy 🏆

Bite-Sized (4) - A BG3 G/t fanfic
This contains g/t (giant/tiny content) so if that isn't your thing, then I suggest you stop reading. Thank you!
Read on ao3
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
Summary: Astarion, still persistently hungry, stalks off into the forest after feeling his control slip around Ria and the rest of his companions. Now, alone with his thoughts, he can't seem to shake the little borrower out of his brain.
Pairing: Astarion x borrower!oc (Tav) (slow-burn, Astarion is a complete ass but eventually comes round in future chapters)
Warnings: V*re mention, gore, mouthplay, fearplay, blood, swearing/course language, blood drinking, Astarion is a real asshole to little people/borrowers and doesn’t see them as people so be prepared for him being awful. Word count: 3.2k
The only feeling that was present in Astarion’s mind was the constant gnawing emptiness of his stomach. Hissing out a growl of frustration, he trudged through the undergrowth of the forest until he could no longer smell the others at the camp. He had used every shred of his willpower not to turn the camp into a bloody massacre right then and there. But he knew for a fact that if he wanted to rid himself of the mind flayer parasite in his brain, eating everyone at the camp was not the smartest move, as tempting as it was, it wouldn’t do him any favours. He glanced down at his hands and noticed that his left hand was shaking uncontrollably – a strong sign that he was in a desperate need of blood, if that wasn’t obvious enough already. He gripped his shaking hand with his right one to stop the jagged movement, but it didn’t do much to help.
The only other time when he had been this close to starvation was his time serving under his old master, Cazador. Granted, it wasn’t that bad yet, but it wouldn’t take much longer for him to reach that same state if he didn’t feed on something soon. He grimaced as he remembered how he felt back then, so hungry that he had lost control of every rational thought, adamant on biting anything with a pulse. Any trace of the elf that he used to be was gone, replaced with the uncontrollable thirst for blood. The only thing his vampire master had allowed him to feed on were rats and bugs – just enough to keep him alive and nothing more. He clenched his teeth in frustration. Now, after finally becoming free from the clutches of his vampiric master, he had free reign to bite whoever he wanted. He wasn’t shackled by Cazador’s rules and punishments anymore. But his newfound companions weren’t all that happy about him snacking on sentient creatures – which he couldn’t exactly fault them to, of course, especially when it came to humans and elves.
Except for him not being able to feed on lesser creatures – that made him upset.
Halflings, goblins, dwarves, gnomes, and now even borrowers were off the menu for him. His mind flickered back to the previous night when he had briefly tasted Ria’s blood. It had only been a mere few drops, but it had been enough to give him a taste – and she had tasted divine. His stomach clenched at the mere thought. It had only been a small taste, but it had just been enough to make him crave more. If Gale hadn’t interrupted, she would’ve been the perfect snack to give him just enough energy to hunt down a proper meal. He had never eaten a borrower before – in fact, he wasn’t sure if Cazador would’ve even permitted him to eat them if he was still under his master’s control.
Most likely not, Cazador would never allow me to eat something so delicious.
His mind darted back to Ria and how she had stood up to him that morning. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips at how she had pulled the middle finger at him and yelled right in his face. He couldn’t help but to admire her bravery, as stupid as it was, it was impressive that she even had the guts to do it to begin with given their obvious size differences. Admittedly, he had been very rude to her this morning – but being severely hungry often made him extra snappy. Not that he was particularly worried about whether he hurt the feelings of a borrower, though. They were lesser than gnomes, for gods’ sake.
Shaking his head, he attempted to distract his mind from the persistent hunger growling in his gut. It wasn’t doing him any good dwelling on Ria when he was starving. He hoped that it wouldn’t be too long until Gale and the others returned. Nostrils flared, he immediately picked up the scent of a nearby squirrel. Maybe, if he was lucky, he might just be able to catch it. It wasn’t as easy as catching a borrower, but he was so starved he was willing to try hunt something for the time being. Honing in on the scent of the squirrel, he kept low to the ground, his footsteps light as a feather as he followed the scent of the animal. His throat burned at the anticipation of tasting red hot blood on his tongue once more. He had hunted since the crash, and as a result the rest of his companions had then discovered his true vampiric nature one eventful night. But over the past few days, the group had barely slowed down enough to give him a proper chance to hunt again. Gale was mostly preoccupied in helping every stranger they came across, much to his annoyance, Lae’zel was adamant on reaching the gith creche, Karlach was desperate to find some infernal iron to fix her infernal engine (although he couldn’t fault her for that), and Wyll was just as bad as Gale – if not worse – when it came to helping random strangers. Shadowheart, on the other hand, was fixated on her Shar worship and the mysterious artifact that she had in her grasp.
Astarion didn’t expect any of his companions to understand his vampiric ailments, but he had at least hoped that they would provide him the opportunity to acquire some sustenance for himself every now and again. After all, he was far more useful to them when he had a full stomach, and clearly less of a threat to them. The sound of tiny paws scurrying across foliage returned his attention back to the squirrel and he paused in his tracks. Dappled in the morning sun as it filtered through the trees, a red squirrel sat next to a tree, completely unaware of the vampire stalking it. Licking his lips, Astarion slowly inched closer towards the squirrel, his stomach rumbling loudly with each careful footstep that he took.
Yes, that’s it, just a little closer.
The piercing pain in his abdomen increased, and very foolishly, Astarion lunged towards the squirrel with his teeth bared. The squirrel immediately heard Astarion’s clumsy footwork and hastily darted up the nearby tree before the vampire spawn could come any closer, much to his dismay. Growling loudly in frustration, Astarion watched as the potential morsel of food disappeared into the canopy of the vibrant tree. He had stupidly allowed his hunger to get the better of him and pounced far too soon – he was getting incredibly sloppy. If he couldn’t even catch a mere squirrel, he really must be losing it. Grinding his teeth, he kicked a nearby pinecone and slumped against the tree and exhaled loudly. Not like he needed to breathe, being undead he technically didn’t require oxygen, but his fatigue and frustration warranted it in that moment.
If only I could sink my teeth into that borrower…gods, it would be so easy.
His mind quickly returned to Ria, her miniature figure soon swirling persistently throughout his thoughts. He was grateful that he was away from the camp, thanks to the tadpole, it wouldn’t take much for his companions to pry into his thoughts and see that he was still intent on devouring their little guest. Wetting his lips, he imagined what it would be like to taste all of her, her blood running hot on his tongue, her tiny body snapping like a twig in between his formidable teeth. It wouldn’t be a lot of blood, given how small she was, but the moment of pleasure her taste would bring on his tongue still made the action worth it in his mind. Technically, Ria had been the first sentient creature that he had tasted during his entire vampiric life so far. He wondered if he could even settle for the taste of beasts again after he had been given a little taste test over what he could be eating instead.
I need to stop thinking about her…gods!
Shaking his head, he attempted to push the thoughts of the borrower out of his brain, but he wasn’t very successful. Just when exactly were Gale and the others coming back? They would need at least a bear to satiate him at this rate. Groaning softly, he sat cross legged against the trunk of the tree and closed his eyes.
The crunching of leaves against leather boots stirred his senses as he inhaled the familiar scent of the wizard. Too weak to bother standing up, Astarion remained in his spot against the tree, and opened his weary eyes. Gale was nowhere in sight, but thanks to his heightened senses, he could hear and smell the wizard well before he could see him.
“Astarion? Are you there?” Gale’s voice rang clearly throughout the forest.
“I’m over here,” Astarion responded, projecting his voice as loudly as he could in his weakened state. Attempting to hunt the squirrel earlier had been a very foolish move on his part as his body was becoming too weak to move or even stand.
“Alright, I’m coming.”
Several moments passed before Gale appeared in front of Astarion. A squealing boar was being held by a levitating blue hand beside the wizard, the remnants of magic sparking at his fingertips from most likely casting the spell, Mage Hand.
“You look like shit,” Gale said rather matter-of-factly.
“Thanks,” Astarion grumbled, his mouth salivating as he stared at the boar floating beside the wizard. “Are you here just to poke fun at me or can I actually eat the snack you’ve brought me?”
The glowing blue hand deposited the boar onto Astarion’s lap rather swiftly, and before the boar could even process what was even happening, he immediately sunk his fangs into the neck of the animal and it’s squealing ceased in a matter of seconds.
“Goodness gracious, you were hungry,” Gale remarked as he watched the vampire spawn drain the enormous boar in less than a minute.
Energy coursed through his veins as the blood from the boar quickly replenished his starved body. He licked the blood off his lips and staggered to his feet, now eye level with Gale. The stabbing sensation in his stomach had dissipated for the most part, and he felt significantly better than he had moments prior. The blood from the boar had eased his hunger, but it paled in comparison to the delicious taste of Ria’s blood. At least for now he had the strength to hunt again and to think clearly at last.
“Astarion,” Gale said, his gaze firm as he stared at the vampire spawn standing before him. “We need to have a talk before we go back to the camp.”
Astarion pressed his lips together thinly. “Please, Gale, stop talking to me like I’m a child that did something naughty. It’s quite insulting, really.”
“Sorry, it’s just – I’m dead serious, Astarion,” Gale replied, folding his arms over his chest. “I like to think of myself as an open-minded fellow, and I’m perfectly fine with your condition. You can’t help your nature, after all, and you are a true asset to our team.”
Astarion furrowed his brows at the wizard. “Where are you going with this, exactly?”
Gale heaved a sigh. “I was thinking about Ria and her situation.”
Astarion squinted his eyes at the wizard. He wasn’t sure he liked where this was going.
“I’d feel awful if we just left her to fend for herself out in the wilderness, after all, a borrower without a roof over their head might as well be dead given how small they are,” Gale continued, ignoring Astarion’s unhappy expression. “Not that I doubt Ria’s resilience, she’s done amazingly to survive this far, but it would be wrong if we didn’t at least offer to bring her along with us.”
“You want to bring the borrower with us?” Astarion clicked his tongue in annoyance. “Hm. That hardly seems like a good idea. She’s not exactly…helpful, with her size. Besides, I hardly doubt she’d want to stay with us anyway.”
“We don’t know that for certain,” Gale responded, waving his finger at Astarion. “Providing you promise to behave yourself; I think she would warm up to the idea at least. And she could be useful – borrowers can climb into tiny spaces that we cannot and easily get past areas unseen if they wish. I think she would fit in well with our group.”
The notion of Ria staying with them didn’t exactly fill Astarion with glee, if anything, having to look out for someone so tiny in the camp seemed like a hinderance more than anything. That’s if Ria even agreed to Gale’s proposition, after last night, he doubted she would even want to breathe the same air as him let alone traveling together.
“I suppose I can be on my best behaviour if there’s a little borrower around the camp,” Astarion answered rather dully. “Have you spoken to the others about this?”
“Karlach and Shadowheart are on board with the idea,” Gale said. “I haven’t asked Lae’zel or Wyll yet, but I’m sure they will be alright with it. And of course, if Ria isn’t open to it, then she’s free to go her own separate ways whenever she is ready.”
Astarion failed to understand why Gale was so intent on bringing the borrower along in their quest to free themselves of the tadpole. But he didn’t care enough to protest the idea, besides, it was highly unlikely that Ria would even accept to begin with.
“Do you have a little crush on the borrower, Gale?” Astarion said in a very teasing tone, cocking an eyebrow at the wizard. “Emphasis on little, hah! I didn’t take you to have a size kink-“
“Of course, you of all people would suggest that,” Gale interrupted, rolling his eyes at the pale elf. “I am simply extending some generosity to someone who may appreciate it, nothing more. Being kind to others is something that you could benefit to learn from.”
“Perish the thought,” Astarion snapped, a scowl painted across his angular features. “Being kind is only worth doing if there is some benefit to doing it.”
No one was ever kind to me, he thought silently to himself, hoping that Gale wasn’t utilising the tadpole’s abilities to peer into his mind at that very moment. Fortunately for him, Gale was none the wiser and just shook his head at the vampire spawn in a very disappointing manner.
“Perhaps in time you’ll understand, Astarion. I suppose for now we best get back to camp.” Gale quickly glanced at the drained boar resting beside Astarion’s feet. “It would be a shame to let all that meat go to waste. This will make for a fine dinner tonight.” Uttering an enchantment, the blue hand materialised itself once more and picked up the deceased boar with ease. The wizard began to turn away towards the camp before quickly glancing back at Astarion.
“Are you coming or shall I leave you to brood some more?” A hint of mockery laced through the wizard’s tone, and Astarion couldn’t help but to smirk at Gale’s attempt at teasing him.
“I’d rather brood than listen to your incessant ramblings of every book you’ve ever read,” Astarion snapped. “Besides, the boar was just a mere appetizer. I should really fill myself up before returning to camp. You go on ahead.”
Without another word, Gale gave Astarion a small nod and vanished into the thick of the forest with the boar levitating beside him, his purple robes flicking out behind him somewhat dramatically in the cool breeze as he turned away.
Alone once more, Astarion returned his attention to finding food – he needed to sink his teeth into something large and filling if he was going to face the others at camp.
***
“You want me to join your group?”
Astarion waltzed into the camp, his belly now full after the six deer and adult bear that he had eaten, and gazed over at Gale and the others who were gathered around the dwindling embers of the morning’s campfire. Ria was situated on a log on top of a pile of Gale’s books to help elevate her somewhat. Not that it did much, considering how small she was, but it was something.
“Only if you want to, of course,” Gale said, his gaze softened as he stared at the little borrower beside him on the log. “We could assist you in finding somewhere more permanent to live along the way, if you find somewhere to your liking. It’s up to you.”
Ria opened and closed her mouth, attempting to form words, but she was too stunned to speak.
“I-I don’t know what to say,” Ria stammered after a moment of silence. “That is very generous of you to offer, truly, I…” Her voice trailed off and Astarion watched as her gaze fell onto his.
A small smirk spread across his features as he watched her expression change and her lips pull together thinly. A mixture of emotions danced across her face and Astarion could only imagine the internal debate she must’ve been going through at that moment.
She won’t say yes. There’s no way-
“Alright, I’ll stay.”
Astarion staggered back from his spot and almost choked on thin air at hearing Ria’s response. His eyes widened as his eyebrows shot up in utter shock. Was the borrower serious? No, this couldn’t be happening…surely?
“Fuck yes!” Karlach exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air with excitement. She immediately paused, noticing that everyone now had their eyes on her, and she quickly cleared her throat as her gaze trailed down to the floor in embarrassment.
“I mean, it’s great that you’re coming along with us,” Karlach said, her voice noticeably quieter than before. “It’ll be nice to have another person in the camp.”
“I agree with Karlach,” Gale added, a warm smile painted across his features. “It’s wonderful that you’ve decided to join us.”
“The little istik could be useful, even in battle.” Lae’zel kneeled beside where Ria was sitting on the log, her piercing yellow eyes brushed over the borrower’s tiny frame with a surprising gentleness which was most unlike the githyanki warrior. Astarion wondered if Lae’zel was starting to develop a little soft spot for the borrower.
“I will train you, istik. If you are willing.”
Ria’s eyes nearly popped right out of her head at the githyanki’s suggestion.
“Y-you will?” Ria stammered in disbelief.
Lae’zel nodded. “I will train you in the ways of K'liir, and when I am done, even creatures larger than you will think twice before crossing your path. If you accept my offer, that is.”
Ria blinked, bewilderment and perplexation strongly present across her tiny face as she stared at Lae’zel.
“I would like that,” she replied after a moment of silence. “That is very kind of you to offer, thank you.” As the rest of his companions rejoiced and generally seemed happy that Ria was going to be a part of the group, Astarion himself was baffled that the little borrower had even agreed to Gale’s offer in the first place. Not only that, but Lae’zel had suggested to train her in the art of githyanki combat, which was the most surprising of all. He had no idea how Lae’zel thought that a borrower of all creatures could even be remotely beneficial in battle – if anything, it would be a death sentence for Ria. But he knew better than to question the githyanki, especially if her mind was set on something. At least it would provide for some amusing entertainment.

If Vox was alive during the height of the animation meme community’s popularity he would’ve EATEN THAT SHIT UP and you can’t tell me otherwise. He would’ve had a bunch of object head OCs and his persona (fursona?) would’ve been edgy as fuck with a tragic backstory.

~ july 4th, 2011 ~
A pizza box slid onto the table, the three of you nestled in the chairs around it, knees either pulled into your chest or underneath you. Beomgyu was to your left, Taehyun to your right. Soda cans littered the wood, open bags of chips scattered about. The three of you were heavy lidded and glassy eyed, snacks were essential.
“Someone gonna keep telling me what else you guys did down in ‘Mano?” Jungkook asked, flipping the box open, the smell of the cheesy, greasy deliciousness smacking you all across the face. Mouth watering in an instant, you dove in first, ripping a slice apart.
Beomgyu, licking his lips, watched you pop the slice in your mouth and went in next. “We told you everything.” He answered his brother without much interest, his mind on filling his growling stomach.
“I don’t think you did,” Jungkook smirked, leaning against the edge of the table, gripping the wood.
Taking another bite, the taste entirely overwhelming, the best pizza you’ve ever fucking eaten, you quirk a brow and glance at Taehyun, then Beomgyu, then Jungkook. “What have we already said?”
The eldest tried to hide his laugh, dropping his head for a moment. “Drinks, that’s about it,” he said, looking at you. His eyes were steady, holding yours with a purpose. “But something else is going on,” he looked around the table before he landed back on you, “Since y’all got here it’s been… off. What happened?”
You immediately turned to Taehyun with both eyebrows raised. His hand flew up fast, mid bite into his pizza. He wagged a finger and hummed.
“No,” he eventually mumbled. Swallowing, he shook his head. “No.”
“No?” Jungkook scanned over the three of you, curiosity eating him alive. “You guys used to tell me everything, you can totally tell me.”
Taehyun pointed a finger at Beomgyu. “He used to tell you everything.”
Following his point, Jungkook cocked his head. “Still does.”
The fire in his eyes when he glanced back at the two of you made your heartbeat stutter. Beneath the dark chocolate, the warm, inviting, lively eyes, he was taunting you. He was taunting both of you. A smile grew on his lips, the corners perking up as he saw it work out in your brain. You couldn’t even get a gasp out.
“Yup,” Jungkook said. “So? Lemme hear it.”
You aren’t sure what would’ve happened in this moment if you weren’t fried out of your mind. Imagining two possibilities, one a freak out, and another a panic attack, you suppose either would be aimed toward Beomgyu, the boy glaring at his brother. If he wasn’t fried out of his mind he’d definitely flip his shit.
“I can’t believe you just said that,” he mumbled instead with a slow blink before he housed the rest of the pizza in his hand. Yours had dropped to the table at some point.
A laugh came from your right. A quiet, breathy laugh laced in disbelief. Taehyun, with the biggest, toothiest grin with his head in hands leaned forward onto the table, shoulders bouncing as he laughed. Now there was a spark of panic within you, a small flame igniting in your gut. Looking over at Jungkook, who watched you with a new look, one that made him seem worried, though you couldn’t tell if you were reading too much into it, you gulped painfully, your throat like sandpaper.
“What are you talking about?” Your question came out of you in a whisper, Jungkook glancing between the boys, one who didn’t seem to care, and another who found it all too hilarious. Used to being on the outside of the joke, this was one you couldn’t stand, not when it threatened the safety of the happy little world you’ve secluded yourself into.
Jungkook narrowed his eyes, his composure steady as a rock. “You know what I’m talking about.”
“How do I know what you’re talking about?” Trying to throw him off, the muscle pig who’s been smoking since he was twelve, an expert at handling his high, he started to smile.
“Save it,” he said, shaking his head. “I know it’s true and so do you,” he pushed away from the table, pointing at the boys before turning to get another soda from the fridge. “So do these two.”
Looking at them both, Beomgyu grabbing another slice of pizza, and Taehyun laying on the wood laughing quietly to himself, you sighed. “What the hell, Gyu?”
“Don’t blame me,” he muttered, barely giving you a glance.
Jungkook spun around and came back to the table, sliding you the soda he grabbed, already opened. “Yeah, don’t blame him,” he said. “Y’all are messy when you aren’t home, you know that?”
Eyes shooting open wide, you scoffed and Taehyun lifted his head, his cheeks pink. Wearing that grin, he looked at you, then he looked at Jungkook.
“He knows,” Taehyun snickered, his voice quiet. He pointed at Jungkook, his hand merely leaving the table.
Tightening your fists where they laid over the wood, you furrowed your brows and shook your head. “No, no he doesn’t. He doesn’t.” You shot the eldest a look. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“It’s okay,” Jungkook said, taking his place back at the edge of the table, muscles buckling as he locked his elbows. Your shameless, traveling eyes ate him alive. You wondered if it was noticeable, you gawking at him, but you weren’t gawking, you were… admiring. Muscles, tattoos, a few piercings… God, he was hot. “Eyes up here,” he joked, gesturing upward. Shifting in your seat you glanced to your left, Beomgyu was already judging you with a glare. It was noticeable.
“Whatever you’re thinking, you’re wrong,” you said, clamping your arms around your body, blinking many times, moving straight past the way your cheeks flushed.
Jungkook was quiet, for longer than you’d like. Only his eyes seemed to move, interrogating each of you, waiting for someone to crack. Taehyun, already a flustered mess, couldn’t focus on anything. Beomgyu, balls deep in another slice of pizza, wasn’t interested anymore nor concerned with the fact he’d put you in some sort of danger.
Maybe danger was extreme, but it didn’t matter. It was still bad, very, very bad.
The heat of Jungkook's stare burning a hole in your face was too much to bear. The smoke took control. “Fine, he’s my boyfriend.”
Taehyun’s giggles vanished.
“Boyfriend?” Jungkook questioned, looking at his brother.
Beomgyu stopped chewing, eyes widening ever so slightly.
“Baby,” Taehyun whispered, leaning toward you in his seat.
Jungkook nearly broke his neck. “Baby?!”
“He said he knew,” you tossed your hands at your sides. “It’s Jungkook, you know how many times he’s probably heard us fuck?!”
“Oh my god,” Beomgyu muttered.
Jungkook pushed back from the table and drug his hands through his curls. Wandering back toward the counters you heard him take a deep breath, and then another. The air in the room grew cold, a chill settling over your skin. Gulping, the look on Taehyun’s face was detrimental to your heart. His hands were stretched out, toward you, limp. The shock stung. It stung you both.
“I thought it was you two,” Jungkook finally spoke after a minute of disgustingly thick silence, motioning toward you and Beomgyu. Taehyun’s eyes found the table.
Taking a peek at Beomgyu who now watched his brother, you said, “It is,” and Jungkook’s face screwed up in confusion.
“But, you just said it’s you two,” he narrowed his eyes, taking in how Taehyun didn’t move.
Taking an audible breath, you whispered, “It is.”
A sound mimicking the shock and pure terror you were feeling fell from Jungkook’s lips that had perked up into the tiniest smile. He propped himself up against the counters and crossed his arms. You didn’t let yourself look this time.
“You’re kidding me,” he said. Taehyun turned his chin to look at him, as did Beomgyu. “The three… All three of you.” All three of you nodded. Jungkook scoffed, his shock melting into amusement. Looking from Beomgyu to Taehyun, back to Beomgyu, Jungkook pointed his finger. “Do, uh… Do you two…?”
Beomgyu ran his tongue over his lips, raising a brow. “Sometimes.”
Taehyun dropped his head back into his hands with a heavy sigh, you couldn’t tell if out of shame or just pure embarrassment that this was a topic of conversation at the moment.
“Huh,” Jungkook nodded, drinking it all up, focused on his brother. “So it does run in the family.”
“I’m not gay,” Beomgyu spat.
Jungkook laughed. “Oh, no, no, Gyu,” he taunted. “You can’t keep your dick in your pants, you were wrong. You are one of us.” The softest snicker came out of where Taehyun hid his face. “Besides, even if you were gay you’d think I care?” He clicked his tongue, “Grow up. Suck as many dicks as you want.” Now the three of you were laughing, Taehyun picking up his head to show off his smile. “I wanna know what y’all are,” he said, then looked at you and Taehyun. “What’s this boyfriend business? Y’all are like, step-siblings, that’s… Oh,” he paused, tilting his chin, puffing out his bottom lip toward Taehyun, “Dude, I can find you other sites…”
Taehyun cut him off with a shout and swat of his hand while you and Beomgyu giggled, Jungkook laughing along with you. Thankfully Taehyun did as well, sitting backward in his chair, tipping his head backward with a groan, his cheeks unable to stop cheesing.
“Tell me. I wanna know, too.” Jungkook was smug, shaking his shoulders back and forth with the funniest smile. He used his elbow to point at each of you. “This whole time I thought you were fuckin’ my brother and you were watching.”
Taehyun furrowed his eyebrows. Memories of a few days prior popped into your head.
“Sometimes someone ends up watching,” Taehyun began, his smile calming down. “But, when it’s… God, this is weird to say to you… When it’s the three of us, we’re…”
“All involved…” you breathed, side eyeing him in hopes it was okay for you to step into his choppy explanation.
Beomgyu rolled his eyes. “Jesus Christ,” he muttered, facing his brother. “He fucks her, I fuck her, I fuck him, he fucks me, we all fucking fuck.”
Jungkook's heart shaped lips had parted, his star filled eyes wide. Beomgyu’s words made you want to curl up in a literal ball and pass away. All you could do was laugh. All Taehyun could do, was laugh. Beomgyu released a heavy, audible breath and slumped backward, shaking his head.
Covering your mouth, you turned toward him. “I can’t believe you just said all of that out loud.”
“Wasn’t the first time,” he mumbled under his breath, glaring at his brother. “Happy now?”
Jungkook snapped his mouth shut. A smirk tugged at his lips as he clapped his hands together. “Amazing,” he said. “Now it makes sense. You didn’t say yes,” he mocked the twang in his brother's deep voice and studied Taehyun. “What are you, the permission giver? The leader?” He shot you and his brother a look. “Brat tamer?” Beomgyu snickered with you.
Taehyun, rubbing a hand over his chest, took a breath to calm down and stared at the table. “I’m…” he glanced up at you and your heart stopped beating. “She’s… She’s my girlfriend.” Nerves erupted in your gut, your entire body going still. Taehyun offered you a smile, one you couldn’t return.
Paralyzed, you couldn’t even look at Jungkook. Frozen, you clenched your jaw, wondering why it didn’t feel good to hear him say the words.
He was still talking to Jungkook, the two continued on, discussing who knows what about your relationship. You heard mentions of your parents not knowing, about Yeonjun not knowing, about everyone not knowing, except him.
Between your lungs tightened, your ribs constricting your breath from the inside out. Averting your stare to the table, you tried to breathe, a short gasp of air that did nothing to ease the, you think, panic? Was it panic? Chest pain, shortness of breath, you couldn’t remember all the shit that came with it.
He was so calm about it, saying the words to Jungkook. She’s my girlfriend. They were words that were rarely spoken around others, even the boy to your left.
A hand found your arm, Beomgyu’s, wrapping around your wrist. Barely turning your chin, he was looking at you, his body facing you entirely, both of his feet on the floor. “It’s okay,” his voice quiet, the other boys laughing at something Jungkook had said. “You’re okay. It’s Jungkook, it’s okay.”
He could read it all within your eyes. Everything you were feeling, everything you wanted to say. There was little to nothing he could say to you in this moment that would make you feel any better about it.
Bobbing his head, agreeing to something he decided on himself inside his head, he turned toward his brother and crossed a foot over one of his knees. “JK,” he started, cutting the boys off, probably details deep in you and Taehyun. The eldest, mid sentence, used to his brother cutting into every conversation of his, shot him a look. “Sorry,” Beomgyu’s lazy smile made an appearance, your heart somewhat holding onto it. “Info goes both ways here.”
“So do you, apparently.” Jungkook smiled after you and Taehyun laughed. He looked toward your boyfriend briefly, “You do too, Alabama.” The giggles had finally found you again, Beomgyu hitting you with his smile, happy to see you squeeze your eyes shut as his brother spoke. “What info, Gyu?”
“They didn’t know you were having a kid,” Beomgyu said. You admired the way he gazed at his brother, evident that he looked up to him more than he liked to let on. Aside from Hyunjin, Jungkook was the only older male figure in his life, holding down the life they lived with Jihyo before he moved out.
“Yeah, what is that?” Taehyun asked. “When the hell did that happen? You said she’ll be here soon?”
“It’s a girl?” You spoke up, voice tiny, all the boys pointing their gazes toward you.
Jungkook smiled, a real smile. Proud.
“It’s a girl,” he said. Thinking to himself for a moment, eyes wandering the tiled floor, he nodded. “In two months she’ll be here. I was just with Chaeyoung this weekend, she had a doctor's appointment, we got to, uh, we got to see her.” Jungkook twisted his fingers together, looking away from the three of you as his smile faded into something small.
“You’re excited,” you said, and he met your eyes. Another nod from him warmed your heart. “Is Chae excited?”
His eyes dropped back to the floor. You were about to regret your question until he opened his mouth.
“She is.” He rolled his shoulders back and sighed, sharing a look with Beomgyu. “We just have to work some things out, that’s all.”
“What stuff?” Taehyun was focused on the tattooed boy, eyes grilling him, almost seeming like he was judging him.
Not judging, analyzing.
“Well,” Jungkook sighed again, “She only told me a month ago.” Gasping, Jungkook huffed a laugh toward you. “I know,” he raised his brows, the piercing catching the light as he tilted his chin. “She said she didn’t know how to tell me.”
“She had seven months,” you muttered.
Taehyun shot you a quick look before he asked Jungkook, “Is that not when you guys broke up?”
Jungkook thinned his lips. “It was right when we broke up.”
The two dated for four years, Chaeyoung and Jungkook, and she was the only one out of all his girlfriends that you absolutely adored. Aside from her stunning complexion, bright eyes, and fun hair, she was a sweetheart, and funny as fuck. Jungkook was already a trip himself, put the two together and you’d all be rolling for hours on end. She was a girls girl, she kept an eye on you when you were around, and always asked you if you were okay. She was the one to teach you that doing your hair and makeup didn’t matter if you didn’t want to wear it, and taught you how to perfect a messy bun. Sleepovers at Jungkooks were your favorite when she was around, she treated you all like her little siblings, not just Beomgyu.
“You remember when it happened?” Beomgyu snickered, one of his nails finding its way between his teeth. Leaning toward him you grabbed his wrist and threw his hand into his own lap. The look he gave you, you ignored.
“It’s not that weird,” Jungkook shrugged. “I didn’t wear a condom.” The sudden switch in his tone, from calm to literal older brother, straightened all of you out. He closed his eyes and sighed, a hand touching his forehead. “You guys are twenty, you need to be smarter. Feel like I’m talking to teenagers. You guys let anyone else in on this… this situation? Jesus, I don’t even know what the fuck to call it.”
“No.” The word loud, with emphasis, left the three of you at once.
“Okay,” Jungkook’s tone switched back to calm, collected. “Still, protect yourselves. You do not need to get sick and you do not need to be having kids.” He shared a look with his brother. “Especially you.” The boy rolled his eyes and hung his head, his fingers messing with each other. “I’m sure if you two do, your daddy will take care of it all, right Taehyun?” Jungkook’s smile made Taehyun scoff. “You take that job yet?”
“Nah,” he shook his head. “I dunno if I can do all that. Numbers, money? I can barely tell colors apart.” Beomgyu just about snorted.
It was always in the cards for Taehyun to take a position below Jin at the company he worked for, at HGF, Han Guardian Finance. A prestigious bank that’s beginning to slowly inch its way around the country. At least that’s what Jin has told you, that’s their goal, him and the CEO’s son, Han Jisung. They want the company to go worldwide, and even Joy thinks that’s too ambitious. She’s always warned Jin that his now partner, Jisung, leaned into the greedier side of the work world, of life. That he should be cautious, that Jisung would take whatever he could get, throw away whatever was needed to make more, to have more.
Joy said that. Joy.
“That’s good money, dude,” Jungkook said. “He’s giving it to you, you don’t even have to interview or nothing. He’ll probably build you your own office once you say yes. You could move out to your own place after a month of working there, you realize that?” Taehyun listened, his head nodding more and more as Jungkook spoke, advising him like he was another little brother. “It’d be stupid of you not to take it. What else are you gonna do? College?”
“Never,” Taehyun breathed. He spared you a quick glance. “What if I hate it though?”
Jungkook tried his best to not roll his eyes, a smirk playing at his lips. “I’d rather be rich and hate my job than be living paycheck to paycheck, wondering how the fuck I’m gonna raise a daughter when I can barely keep what I have now in line.”
Beomgyu wiggled in his seat, his eyes pointed down. Jungkook peered toward him without him noticing, some type of compassion, or care within his look. The eldest adored him as much as the youngest respected him. Brothers, siblings, a bond you’ve never experienced, and never will. The two of them best friends, counting on one another, helping one another, being there, the two of them literally made for the other. Two extremely different beings, having come from the same place, not the same in the slightest, but with the same blood coursing through their veins.
It was beautiful, their relationship, something you’ve been envious of since the start. When Jungkook started to date Chaeyoung, that’s the closest you’ve felt to having someone fill the role of big sister. That is, until you met Dina. Still, a piece of you wished to know what it felt like, to have a sibling. To have someone belong to you, because they share a piece of you. They understand you, because, in some way, they are you.
You turned to Jungkook, the question eating you alive from the inside out, stopping each boy where he was. “Are you gonna marry her?”
Taehyuns eyes were hot on you. Beomgyu ogled his brother.
Jungkook bit his lip, taking the silver ring into his mouth. A gentle chuckle came out of him. “If she says yes.”
Beomgyu lurched forward in his seat, this clearly being the first he’s heard of it. “What are you talking about? You told me days ago you were-”
“Nope,” Jungkook cut him off. “I was pissed, don’t take that seriously.”
Beomgyu slumped back and groaned, folding his arms over his chest tight. “Then why say it if you don’t mean it?”
Jungkook gave him a look that told him to brush it off while apologizing at the same time. “We’re going to see Whitney tomorrow.”
“I hate her,” Beomgyu grumbled.
Jungkook sighed. “No you don’t.” The glare he got in return was lethal. “The answer is,” he focused back on you, “I want to. I’m ready to ask her. I love her. I love our daughter already. These months of being broken up were really stupid, and immature. We’ve got some shit to sort out, but who doesn’t. I’m about to be twenty four, I can be a dad, I can be a husband.” A laugh came from Beomgyu. Jungkook returned the glare he had gotten moments prior. “Shut up.”
“No, come on, I think it’s cute you wanna play daddy,” Beomgyu smirked. “Also think it's ridiculous you’re exactly like Hyunjin, ‘cept without the addict part. I’d like to see you be a house-husband, that should be fun.”
“I think it’s great,” you said, voice quiet, watching Jungkook as he moved to give you a smile. Now Beomgyu’s eyes were hot on you too, his neck nearly snapping toward you in shock. “I love Chae, too. I miss her. And I think you’ll be a really good dad.” Considering what had happened with his own, you know there was no need to bring up how much practice he’s gotten already. How you just know he would take the example he was given, and do the exact opposite. The action he’s taken already, how he’s dove head first into it, seeming with little resentment given he’s only just found out about his child.
“Thanks,” Jungkook said. “Chaeyoung was talking about you the last time I was with her.” A smile found your lips. “She misses you, too. She hopes… She hopes you’re okay.” He let his gaze drag over the three of you. “She’s so smart.” He laughed. “She guessed this before I even realized what was happening. You three.”
“She did?” you whispered.
Jungkook nodded. “Yeah, she knows. Figured it out herself.” He popped his brows and smiled at you. “Girl intuition is crazy.”
Swallowing hard, you blinked and glanced at your lap. Taking a deep breath, you tried to ease the nerves that crept up within you. You looked at Taehyun, who was now talking with Jungkook, and tightened your jaw.
Girl intuition is crazy.
