wip wednesday!

This time we're doing something a little different! This wip snippet is chapter 3 of 'MY SOULMATE MADE A DATE FOR ME AND OUR BOYFRIEND.. | Empires SMP S2 1.19'! I came on as a coauthor to finish up a partial draft by @blocksruinedme (an amazing person and writer that I'm honored to be able to work with ^v^)

Tango knew they would get the hint after all the effort he went through, but he also hoped that it would actually... well, work. In the big feely feelings way.

But he didn’t know if the questions about each other was enough to get them to have a good, deep conversation with each other.

He didn’t know if it was enough to repair their fragile relationship.

He didn’t know if he was even helping at all.

But he made it and committed already by telling Jimmy and fWhip that he was making a surprise, which was why they weren’t allowed to watch him work on the project like they normally do.

He just had to hope that it would all work out.

give me an essay about uh... kyouka?

Oh man I had this one locked and loaded for months now. I love Kyouka sm and her whole character arc and how that reflects onto Atsushi and Dazai by extension and their own character development, as well as Kouyou's to an extent.

So when we meet Kyouka, we see her trying to blow up a train and basically she doesn't really have a will to live. She's been told since she got pulled into the PM that her only purpose is to kill people, best exemplified by every interaction she has with Akutagawa, ever. Akutagawa, also, doesn't really feel like he has a place in the world outside of killing for the PM and trying to get Dazai's approval but that's neither here nor there for this essay.

She relatively quickly decides she doesn't want to keep killing people, which I mean. She's a 14yo girl, I would imagine she doesn't want to keep killing people because it's fairly traumatizing, and her solution to that in the moment is to sacrifice herself, which we also know Atsushi would have done just a few chapters earlier given the chance. Instead, Atsushi saves her and shows her kindness as they figure out what to do with her, which continues to drive her forward as a character.

Anyway, this scene is the turning point I think, for her character arc. She's admitting that her only roll in the Mafia was to kill people, that was her only purpose for several years, but that little bit of kindness Atsushi showed her on that day out they spent together was all it took to make her believe there was a life for her in the light as Kouyou would put it.

She also has a very complicated relationship with her skill, believing she killed her parents with it, and having used it to kill at least 35 other people. Which is frankly, understandable for her. Her skill has been what people have used her for, having her use her skill for violence, for their own means without a thought about what Kyouka could possibly want, so to her, at least for the first part of her transition process to the ADA, her skill is dirty, bad, something that other people want to control for their own means. And Atsushi even falls into this trap, saying her powers should be used for the ADA, which gives Kouyou a leg up in trying to get Kyouka back.

Even though Kyouka doesn't end up even thinking about going back at first, I think Kouyou knew exactly what buttons to press to manipulate her, and she was able to see through it and ended up using Demon Snow for something she wanted, to protect Atsushi on her own terms. And while Atsushi may have wanted her to use her skill for the agency, she first has to use it on her own terms and dissociate it from her past, and then Kouyou has to go and drop the bomb on her about her parents and yeah. Scene over, Kyouka is back with the mafia, she's upset and traumatized, Kouyou has her protege back, and all of their names are still being underlined in red by my spellchecker.

I kinda lost the thread when I went back to look for all these images oops but anyway, when Kyouka does eventually return and goes through her trial to join the agency in full, she finally has a place that will accept her for her, won't make her use her skill, and will let her just be a kid.

Kyouka best girl I think she deserves all the good things in the world and then some. By the end of the series, she's fully come into herself and her skill, using it for herself, for her wants, for her goals and morals. She's allowed to be selfish, she's allowed to want for herself, and she has a place to call home and people she can call her family. She has something to keep living for, to fight for.

Unlike whatever Akutagawa did at the beginning of this. Like seriously what the hell dude.

I definitely don't think this made sense and I realize I tend to go off on tangents but in conclusion, Kyouka's arc is about learning to live for herself, letting herself feel safe and protected, and just...accepting her past as something that happened and not trying to cope with it on her own.

I need someone to explain to me what the value of the Chuck Won theory is. Why would you want the ending to be worse?

i can't speak for anyone else but the reason EYE like it is because, for me, it actually makes the ending less bleak. if i take the finale as is—if i accept that chuck lost—it means that jack really did become god, that dean didn't look for a way to rescue cas, that dean died young and suicidal, that sam spent the rest of his life obsessed with his dead brother, that none of the family they found and they built and they fought for mattered, that cas was just resurrected off-screen and decided to never speak to the brothers again i guess? and if you don't take The Winchesters into account, it means that dean got to heaven, found out cas was still alive, and immediately decided to drive for like forty years just waiting for sam who he literally just saw. and that's it. that's all there is. how is that not the bleakest fucking tragedy ever?

but, if i assume that chuck won, it means the story isn't actually over. it means they're not done.

i know this is an unpopular opinion because people hate the idea of dean being sad but uhhhhhhhh to me dean dying in the finale is him giving up because he doesn't want to fucking do it anymore. he doesn't want to live without cas. and while that's wildly depressing, it is in-line with the dean i know. because the dean in the finale is either an imposter or a shell of a person who has neither purpose nor hope anymore.

but, if chuck won, the reason it seems like everything sucks is because it does suck. and that means there's still hope! they can beat chuck without losing every single other thing that matters. they can have jack back. they can rescue cas. they can keep their family. they have a shot at actually living.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that the reason Chuck Won truthing is so appealing to me is that it means the story isn't finished. dean is going to get the gay happily ever after he deserves. jack is going to get to go fishing with his dads. cas is going to hear that someone loves him. sam is going to get pegged. and eileen is going to fucking matter gdi

• Dallas gives Johnny his jacket every time they go out. even when Johnny declines the offer, dally will still find a way to give him his jacket.

• After the two started dating, Johnny sleeps at Buck's with Dallas more than the lot. it scares ponyboy a little when he can't find Johnny at the lot.

• Dally's hands are always tensed up and always clenched to punch someone or something but when he's holding Johnny's hand, his rough hands are soft and gentle.

• They share everything together, food, drinks, cigarettes, etc. Johnny doesn't mind at all when he's sharing food with Dallas, unless when Dallas did something to piss off Johnny.

• Dallas loves buying(maybe stealing is the right word??) stuff for Johnny, he loves seeing Johnny smile and being happy.

• When the two reunited after they died, Dally loves trapping Johnny in his wings when they're watching the sunsets. I love imagining dally is a demon while johnny is an angel :3

GIGGLING WILDLY. omg i'd love to--

Our game takes place in current-day Blackwater Bay, a make-believe city in California under Anarch with hella crime, just to keep things fun and funky. Our original party make-up included Prescott, a young Nosferatu with a penchant for dirt-bike-racing, auto mechanics, and being clueless, Tomasso, a ghoul-turned-vampire Lasombra who worked with organized crime in the city, his hired muscle, Dimitri, a massive Russian Gangrel with 0 braincells and a badger for a ghoul, and Candle, a (secret) Ravnos who travels the country in his van with his pet rabbit Brooklyn and has recently found himself in Blackwater. Tomasso (Tommy) eventually got his shit wrecked (got blown up) and Candle basically ended up Taking Ownership of Dimitri. Tommy previously provided him with housing, salary, etc etc, so Candle took up this mantle in Tommy's absence, as how lucrative career as a stripper left him with more than enough pocket change to Sugar Daddy.

Candle and Dimitri were easily the most fun dynamic in the game because they'd just Do Whatever. They're constantly just fucking around and doing shit. There's half a braincell between them and they're constantly prepared to fuck around and find out. Candle just tells Dimitri to do stuff and they do it. Hey, Dimitri, wanna go clubbing? Hey, have you ever been on a ferris wheel before? Dimitri let me paint your nails. Let me braid your hair. Let's play truth or dare. I dare you to pick up that guy and throw him as hard as you can--

Candle has HELLA high charisma stats and can talk just about anyone into anything, and though he's not super well-suited for combat, Dimitri sure is, which made them an absolute delightful power couple. On the rare occasion Candle was unable to talk someone down, he could just sic his Gangrel on them. Candle is very sassy, outgoing, and talkative, but also has a bit of a temper and when he tells people to SHUT UP AND LET HIM TALK people LISTEN because he just has that level of authority. And also, he has Dimitri.

My other favorite thing about Candle is that he's a ridiculously effective hunter. Stripping is both how he makes his money and finds his food-- one song on stage and the entire club is pretty much invariably enraptured with him, and he basically has his pick of the herd. All he's gotta do is suggest they go to the bathroom, to the back, to the alley, etc. for some fun and then uhhhhhhhh bite the shit out of them and drink their blood <3 works like a charm every time. He is so good at this, in fact, that he 1) sugar daddies the entire party, as he's by far the most effective moneymaker 2) when we're in a rush or if people aren't up for a long hunt, he will literally HUNT FOR THE REST OF THE PARTY FOR THEM and just bring people back to their hiding places to feed, because he basically NEVER misses and it takes SO little effort for him to do this.

And the whole time he's running around being this cute lil strawberry blonde with a rabbit in his purse ;3c

#and none of this is even touching on his complicated backstory which i could also babble about for DAYS #hes my special little boy #an absolute menace to society #i had no idea what i was doing when i made him as far as build goes but i accidentally made him #like #so fucking good #its a long-running joke in the group how the other party members roll their eyes at candle sometimes and underestimate him #but hes easily one of the most dangerous and powerful vampires in the entire city #i love him SOOOO much he is such a bitch #can talk his way out of anything #will tell you if he doesnt like you #if you do something he doesnt like its homophobia #he also plays like five different instruments #asks #anon #vtm #vampire the masquerade

I'll start w the polycule fic bc I'm not actively writing it rn. Basically I'm the smartest person ever, and I know that 1. Ethan is in love with Mia, 2. Ethan is also in love with Chris, and 3. Ethan has the potential to be in love w Heisenberg but at the very least there was obvious attraction from Heisenberg. So I put them all in a polycule. that also serves as a re8 fix it fic where Heisenberg saves Ethan, Chris extracts them both and Mia, and they all return home safe with Rose. Chris is gay homosexual gay to me so he's only in love w Ethan not Mia and Mia is only romantically with Ethan (they are so bi4bi and t4t) but I mean who couldn't love Mia so they're all just a big happy family. I'll finish it someday just not any time soon.

The Serennedy time travel fic. I'm so excited for this and I'm so fucking close to finishing it you Have no idea. It is literally the length of a short novel and I'm still going. It's going to be so mdbfdkdhskshsjs Yk. It's based off of a convo I had w @tryhardsars where Luis is sent back in time to Re2 time, and ofc Sara wanted it to be angst for Leon where Luis pampers him for what he went through bc she's a little Leon stan, but I of course turned it into Luis angst and made it 100000x worse than anything we talked about. It has a happy ending tho because I can't do angst without a happy ending. I'm so fucking excited to finish it agghh I've been writing it frantically since June. It's got lots of Ada too because again it's me.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Sorry, people who ship Katrielle and Ernest...I just can't really see Katrielle reciprocating his feelings. I think seeing more nuanced portrayals of their relationships that dug into how Case 12 affects them would help, but I don't think I could ever really see it.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Ernest. The twist with him could REALLY have used more foreshadowing (like how he would react to Katrielle getting buddy-buddy with the Seven Dragons, for instance).

Favourite friendship: I do feel strongly about Katrielle & Ernest's friendship. I think...they're similar to how I feel about Claire & Dimitri, but with much lower stakes due to being nowhere nearly as tragic.

when or if I started shipping it: It was Katrielle Layton: Wanted that really cemented it for me.

my thoughts: I really like Emiliana growing to care for Katrielle and respect her as a rival and as a friend, as well as developing respect for Katrielle's methodology.

What makes me happy about them: Rivals to lovers is a really fun trope.

What makes me sad about them: Emiliana has a pretty strict moral framework that I think is not impossible to reconcile with Katrielle, but will take a lot of work to really develop.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: This isn't really a bad thing, but I do wish there was a little less 100% fluff in the tag. It doesn't annoy me, I like the fluff, but I wish there was more variety.

Things I look for in fanfic: I'd love more stuff like the fic I wrote last year, but not written by me, lmao

My kinks: nope, not answering this here

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I respect the people who ship Katrielle and Lucy immensely.

My happily ever after for them: they reconcile their conflicting moral frameworks

How I feel about this character: I like Janice :) She's a neat character and I really like the parallels to Hershel.

My unpopular opinion about this character: uhhhhhhhh I don't even know what the popular opinions are, ngl. I guess...I wish we had gotten more pre-canon flashbacks to establish her dynamics with the Whistlers?

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I think she should take a break from music and figure out if she wants it for herself or if she wanted it because Melina was by her side doing it. I think she ultimately comes to the conclusion that she does like it, though.

My OT3: a while ago @magicwhiskers29 and I were kicking around an Emmy/Janice/Melina triad after I shared some lines from my Janice/Emmy fic with her about how both Janice & Melina admired Emmy and her abilities. in my head there's also a version of this where Janice and Melina are still sharing a body when this happens

s4, eps 12&13 Destiny

Usual reminder: this is a REwatch and there’s spoilers ahoy, I make a lot of bad jokes (some of which are Adult In Nature), I reference other cartoons, I make random asides.

can i get a uhhhhhhhh datekou swimming headcanons? can or cannot, swimming vs diving vs just floating around, how they do it, pool behaviours, beach behaviours, lake behaviours, river behaviours, anything you have is fine, for the whole team btw, please and thank you 🍪

anon i want you to know this is probably the most random most specific ask i have ever gotten and that makes it extremely funny thank you

also i feel like i need to add the quick disclaimer that i can't swim nor do i frequently visit rivers and lakes so like. i am VERY much out of my depth here (but i do love the beach!)

okay first let's divide between who can or cannot swim

can swim: moniwa, futakuchi, nametsu, aone, obara, sakunami, kamasaki (kamasaki and futakuchi will IMMEDIATELY start a race and will rope entire strangers into it) cannot swim but can at least float: onagawa, sasaya, fukiage only knows how to doggy paddle: koganegawa

a beach trip would be SO intensely chaotic btw the logistics are a fucking nightmare

if they took the train/bus they'd take up half the space. they'd need to take two separate cars bc there are eleven of them. i guess they COULD take whatever van it is they use to get to away games but who in the world is going to drive them, oiwake??? no way in hell they give that man enough migraines DURING school he does NOT wish to be tortured outside of it

(is what he says. but he loves this team and he cares about this team and he tells them that they deserve a break, so why not? it won't stop him from grumbling about needing to take like five cans of coffee with him tho)

oiwake immediately regrets his decision when futakuchi rolls up in oversized sunglasses, one of those big floppy straw hats, and an open hawaiian shirt over a tank top that says "sun's out buns out" a la terribly translated english misprints. futakuchi has no idea what it means

aone has a matching tank top too and on the other hand he DOES know what it says he's just praying that nobody asks him because he has no idea how he's going to explain it

i can see onagawa just being the type of guy who sits and chills under the umbrella with a book and occasionally wanders off to get food, especially shaved ice

he attracts a lot of attention anyways bc his swim trunks look like they belong on the floor of an american retro-style arcade (shoutout to @prick-love-for-pricking for that)

he DOES get up to join the others in dunking futakuchi underwater after sakunami called it a "team bonding exercise"

everyone worries about sakunami btw because "oh my god what if he falls down and gets washed away WHAT IF HE DROWNS WHEN WE'RE NOT LOOKING HE COULD LITERALLY GET KNOCKED OVER BY A WAVE"

futakuchi suggests getting a balloon and tying it around sakunami's wrist like that one picture of the turtle walking around the office or whatever it was

they don't do this but moniwa DOES get a pair of horrifically neon-orange sunglasses and makes sakunami wear them on his head like some kind of beacon

kogane is constantly sending pictures to his fellow first-year mock sports camp club btw and most of the others won't admit it but they are SUPER jealous

kamasaki, while everyone is lounging in the ocean: "so . . . . have any of you guys seen jaws?" futakuchi: "if you don't shut up right now i WILL drown you"

when aone gets tired of the ocean he recruits anyone on land to build a sand castle with him and somehow ends up roping, like, five little kids into helping him build the ultimate sand fortress

so he ends up with obara, kogane, nametsu, and oiwake and a little army of five-to-seven-year-olds

those same kids BEG to play volleyball with everyone once they hear that they're a team btw

so everyone - third years and nametsu included - divides into teams of littles vs high schoolers and ask oiwake to keep score

(the little kids are SUPER impressed with sakunami. one of them tells sakunami that they want to be a libero just like him and sakunami doesn't cry, exactly, but it's a close thing)

they keep rotating people in and out and across teams so that aone is on team a one match then switches with fukiage on team b for the next and so on and so forth and honestly who even cares about who's winning or losing when they're all having so much fun?

they fall asleep on the ride home, all curled up on each other and heads resting on shoulders and all that. oiwake wishes he had his hands free to take a picture, but oh well. some memories are better off swept away with the moment.
