Something I find really interesting about Nerdy Prudes Must Die (which I think heavily influences the fact that it's my favourite Hatchetfield show) is that its music and musical motifs are built so heavily upon all the shows that came before it, which is not something we see super often in mainstream theatre?? Stay with me here, I don't know if I'll be able to articulate where I'm going with this fully the way I want to but I'm gonna try.

Not only did NPMD have the catchiest and most heart-wrenching main motif out of all the Hatchfield shows imho (the "cool" motif - watch my heart break in two in real time while it plays behind Ruth's big note in Just For Once, ooof), but we all know it is jam packed with motifs from 4 other shows (TGWDLM, BF, NMT1, NMT2) in addition to the rest of the NPMD motifs. From the nightmare time motif to the cop motif, the inevitable motif, the coffee motif, Grace's scheme motif, Hatchet motif, etc, the list goes on!

For me not only is it fun as hell but it scratches an itch that the other Hatchetfield shows didn't 100% reach for me musically speaking. Not bad, just one box that wasn't ticked for me! It's almost the same itch as musicals like Hamilton, who pack in a huge amount of motifs and music/musical references without them overly complicated, and without distracting from the broad strokes with too much detail work. The motifs are easy for your ear to pick up on and follow without beating you over the head with them. Now, the likes of Hamilton (take the rest of what I say from here on out with a big ol spoonful of salt as someone who is observing as an enthusiast of musical theatre composing theory, not a pro) besides the obvious thoughtful hard work put into it are possibly more able to make space for these intricacies due to a sung-through format; and especially in Hamilton's case, being able to use both rap and music to create motifs. It feels like NPMD however is able to do this more like a movie franchise (thinking of things like Star Wars who have built up many different musical themes over the years).

On the one hand, big duh, that's how sequels/connected stories work. But on the other hand, even though we're used to seeing certain musical or lyrical ideas returning throughout a composers career, and although we're used to Starkid lore, jokes and call backs building up over time, I don't think I know many musicals that are sequels, and have built up a musical motif landscape over several years?? Besides Phantom/Love Never Dies, which I admit I don't know enough about. This feels like it might be another thing unique to (or if not unique to then certainly encouraged by) Starkid's format.

I've oversimplified a bunch of this for the sake of brevity (as if I've ever been concise in my life lol). But out of curiosity if anyone knows any other interesting musical theatre sequel examples outside of Starkid, let me know!

literally it just clicked on how good trans satan is. like it just Fits. luci making his anger and sadness manifest would they not look similar to lilith in gender and likely appearance? also how weirdge it is all 7 brothers are male (other than this being a otome game but shh we're over analyzinghere) , surely odds would have at least One female since 50/50 gender ratio

could make comparisons that being on t can make you angrier than normal and him being a nightmare when he was young

the whole self image issues he has being so similar to luci and his hang ups that hes just a clone of luci in some way

Ohhhh anon, I love the idea of Satan looking like Lilith.

I mean, yeah, gender ratio is about equal for humans, so I can only assume it's the same thing in the Celestial Realm. They don't really specify how many angels are male vs female, but at the very least we know there was Lilith. The only female angel that I can remember... but nobody ever commented on her gender being unusual, so I think it's safe to assume that we've got an even ratio there.

What an interesting idea if Satan was a mixture of Lucifer and Lilith. His hang ups about being so much like Lucifer means he has to at least be like Lucifer. And I know the idea was that he was supposed to be Lucifer's opposite in appearance. But wouldn't it be interesting if Lilith was also Lucifer's opposite in that sense? That she was the blonde haired, green eyed little sister to Lucifer's black haired, red eyed older brother? And then when she died and Lucifer's anger reached its pitch, birthing Satan to look like her??? Ooof.

And if we were going that route, then it definitely makes sense for Satan to be born the same gender as Lilith. Again with the opposite of Lucifer. But for him, it isn't right, and he's confused about himself even more. It's not just that he isn't Lucifer, he isn't Lilith either.

Add to that all the other points you've mentioned and yeah... you're right, it fits.

Stuck together part two

This is a Daniel atlas X reader . I try my best to put no names or y/n , gendered language or anything of that nature so that people to project themselves onto the reader as much as possible .

Setting is you're new to the horsemen you are the new escape artist of the group and for some reason Atlas is just always knit picking your parts of the performance to the point where you barely talk to him outside of practice, what is his deal!? But when you two are stuck together after a show gone wrong you may in fact figure out he has a soft side to his control freak ways

Miles passes and I noticed Atlas was getting more anxious. I didn't want to be the one to break the silence but he was freaking me out ," what is it?" He jumped slightly at my voice I think he completely forgot I was even there . " were ... out of gas," he said pointing vaguely at the gage . I looked around us and saw just empty roads . " FUCK," I hissed pinching the bridge of my nose ," well what now ." The engine was beginning to cough and sputter when Atlas said ," I don't ...hey is that a motel?" Relief washed over me as I saw the glowing neon "Vacancy " sign flashing . " perfect we can call the guys to pick us up here tomorrow," I sighed in relief. They could pick us up tonight but since everyone was out looking for us we all needed to lay low.

We got out of the car and grabbed out small bags which had our phones, a change of clothes , cash , and some granola bars, the bare necessities. The place looked dirty but enough for a place to lay over for the night. I strolled into the front office and smiled at the sweet old lady behind the counter, " hey me and my friend were passing through and he's about to fall asleep behind the wheel so we just needed a place to sleep for a night." She looked at us and nodded ," yes we do have a room open, only one though I apologize we got so darn busy out of no where ." I smiled and said ," isn't that how it always goes, I'm sure it'll be just what we need ." She nods and tells me the price while pressing some buttons on a dinosaur of a computer. I go for my money but Atlas places it on the counter first , like it was a competition or something. " oh perfect here are your keys , room 22," she said handing us a old brass key , this place really needed to get with the times. We nodded and I said a light thank you as we made our way to the room.

This place felt straight out of a horror movie but I was honestly getting so tired I didn't care if I did get murdered. Of course Atlas had the key and was already unlocking the door when I trudged up beside him. He had to jump against the door to get it to open and when he did he fell inside which made me laugh. " ooof rough time buddy," I said stepping over him to get into the room. The moment I did, my laughing stopped. The room was way smaller than I thought it would be. It seemed like a very sketchy looking bathroom but the issue at hand, one bed. I froze as the realization dawned on me what was going to happen. I knew neither me nor Atlas would sleep on the floor and even though this place looked sketchy it would be even worse sleeping in the car. " what are you... oh," Atlas said coming to the same conclusion as me as he got to his feet. We did the slightly glance at eachother before I headed to the bathroom as he locked the door.

I showered trying not to think about what I was going to have to do. It wasn't just the idea of sharing a bed with Atlas that was an issue, my issue was every night after something stressful happens I have the worst nightmares I toss and turn all night it sucks, and almost getting caught by the FBI, yeah that counted. I pleaded with my brain to just sleep tonight as I climbed out of the shower. After drying off I put on my more comfortable outfit to sleep in . I walked out and Atlas had put a pillow wall in the middle of the bed and was already either sleeping or pretending to sleep I didn't know which. I honestly didn't care I turned off my light and climbed in . As I tried to get comfortable Atlas said ," can you relax I'm trying to sleep. " I gridded my teeth and sharply turned from the pillow wall and closed my eyes, pleading once again that I'd sleep through the night.
