eddie and his uncle own a pool cleaning business on the side during the hot indiana summers for the maybe 3 houses who actually have pools in hawkins. the munsons have been taking care of the harrington's pool every summer since eddie came to live with wayne when he was 12, with wayne grumbling about how hard work would help eddie and eddie grumbling back about how much he hates hard work.

that is until eddie sees steve, still kind of scrawny as he works through the first bits of puberty, in his red swim trunks and dark black sunglasses, and eddie decides that he loves hard work.

so over the years, they dance around being friends. because eddie's a weirdo that steve doesn't know if he should hang out with, but he's nice when he and his uncle are over in the summers and he makes steve laugh big belly laughs. and at the same time, eddie's dancing around his growing feelings for steve because he's a jock and he can't be seen talking to a prep at school, but he makes him smile real smiles when they dip their legs in the freshly cleaned pool to talk and it makes his heart flip in his chest.

but then wayne starts working overnights at the factory once eddie turns 19, old enough to run the business by himself for the maybe 3 houses in their area. and steve's parents are traveling more and more which means he's in that big empty house by himself. so eddie's on his own and steve's on his own, but they're not alone because eddie comes by to check on the pool and steve opens the door with a grin every time.

steve sunbathes without a shirt and eddie averts his eyes while they talk about the weather and about who king steve is taking out that weekend and about how eddie's campaign is going and about how steve wants to come to eddie's practice one night if jeff will let him and about how eddie likes guys and about how steve might, too.

it's summer, it's hot and they're boys who grew up with the summer as their best friend, so they swim for the first time one hot june night as a way to say thanks to the pool for bringing them together. nothing but boxers and bare feet and cheeky grins to keep them company under the moon, with legs tangled in the cool water. fingers tangled in hair. hearts tangled in some lumpy mess when the stars give them courage to press chlorine kisses wherever they can reach.

hi hello im a big armor and design nerd, and was wondering if you’ve ever shared your thought process behind the boatem knights’ designs? they are all very cool and I love them

I haven't! I will say there are varying levels of thought process behind the designs, such things usually depending on how familiar i am with the hermit. I WILL ALSO SAY THAT IM NO ARMOR EXPERT IN THE SLIGHTEST! my designs are purely for fun, they're probably not completely functional or accurate.

the designs for reference

Impulse: i was generally sort of thinking that base wise, he was building this big industrial factory. while this doesn't directly transfer into a fantasy knight's design, i was thinking about how just like, tanky, his base is. like big industrial buildings equaled larger plates of armor and more overall protection in my head (im pretty sure, besides pearl, he's the most armored knight). then theres just smaller things, such as a purple collar to match his actual s8 skin and the bowtie, as well as a little decorative "i" . I also have longer trailing pieces of fabric to mimic the long coat he was wearing

Grian: he's sort of the opposite from impulse. for him i was trying to think of light armor that could still allow for flight. its why he has a lot more padded areas. (now ofc im sure his armor is still heavy and flight would be hard but hey this is fantasy im not suuupper pressed) there's a little less thoughts behind the rest of the design as it's mostly just a play on his base skin of red sweater and grey pants.

Pearl: she's probably the second most tanky knight, and honestly there's not too much of a reason for it. her armor is a lot more curved, i guess would be the word, bc to me it sort of made crescent shapes. also i dont think i necessarily had this in mind, but the scalemail segment of her armor is fun to me considering her being a moth hybrid in bkau.

Scar: in s8 scar very much sort of gave me steampunky vibes with his big swaggons, so instead of going with the usual metal armor like the rest of the knights, i figured that leather would maybe match his vibes a little more. on top of that, scar is definitely more of a ranger than a like, traditional knight in bkau, so the light weight armor was also meant to lend to that. the rest is ofc based on his s8 tycoon skin.

Mumbo: he doesn't have all that much behind his design, besides the fact that its meant to match his base suit skin a little. i think at the time i was designing him, i hadn't really watched anything of mumbo's, so i didnt quite know any specific paths to go with him. though being honest, as of now i wouldnt change much either.

anyways those are some general thoughts for the knights. there was probably more thoughts in my head when i initially designed them but i dont remember everything. hope this all made sense :]

anyway. this post is what got me thinking about the lead up to will and derek's break up....and also. the wish you were sober references WHICH MAKE ME ABSOLUTELY <JAHDJSHFKJHHH anyway.

we know that no one will be consuming any alcohol in this fic - however, this does not mean they didn't consume it outside acswy's present timeline.

anyway. me and wayli were discussing this and we think that the lead up to will ending up with a hangover could've been that derek (who is a year older than him, and will would've been a junior in high school at this point in 2021) invited will to the senior prom afterparty , (GORGEOUS REFERENCE. BTW.) where he inevitably got drunk and mike picked him up.

at which point, will and mike kissed in mike's car. for the second time (mike references in uh. one of the chapters i don't remember which one that he and will had kissed MORE THAN ONCE before their kiss in the isolation cabin. we know they kissed when they were 13...so....what was the other time...)

anyway. Anyway. don't know the details just yet because we haven't gathered enough evidence to make a clear conclusion but this is a basic speculatory timeline of events:

will goes to a senior prom after party with derek, probably at some point in may 2021 -> he gets drunk and tells mike to come pick him up -> wish you were sober references come in, THEY KISS -> camp starts in late may or june -> derek finds out about the kiss and breaks up with will in june/july 2021

Meet The Mods: Mod Whirly!

Howdy! I'm Whirly or Cobalt, both names work though Cobalt is usually the name I use for my sonas. Speaking of Sonas look at the LOVELY batim-sona my partner Roddy designed for me!! Such a talented boyfriend I have truly. They got my vibe down so well and gave me such gender~ I always loved the lost ones designs so it just felt fitting for me to be one.

Brief backstory time! I'm the writer and original artist behind It's Showtime, I wrote the original bits of story for it probably about 5 years ago, around when BATIM first released. It's Showtime basically started out as just my own predictions and theories for how Batim would go, but as it continued I fell so in love with the story I began telling through RPs and ideas I picked up along the way, it just sort of gradually became it's own thing!

Of course the entire thing needed a huge rewrite considering I was newly in middle school when it started and now I've graduated Highschool, but I've made tons of progress on it so far. It also needed a huge redesign and I have my lovely partner to thank for all the wonderful designs you all see on the website! They truly took my old designs and fresh rewrites of the characters and made the kind of art I always imagined would pair so well with this story <3

So whatever it is we choose to do with this story and its characters I can promise you all, I'll put my heart, soul and other organs into it.

katniss could have had pianist's hands, in another life. oval - shaped palms and long, agile fingers, they had the makings of graceful artistries and tender touches. but she sculpted them to archer's hands instead. strong ﹠ steady ( when she isn't in the throes of a living nightmare ), the pads of her palms and tips of her fingers are roughened with callouses from the shaft of her bow and the nocking of arrow ﹠ string ( it'd driven her mad, having to build them up again after the 74th game's polishing made her as smooth as a newborn baby, something she hadn't been since before her father first put a bow in her hands ). they had to be strong for other things, too; scaling trees, skinning ﹠ cleaning her kills, setting snares ﹠ holding up her family when they couldn't themselves. they have rarely faltered but they do break out in sweat after nightmares, or when she is drowning in buried emotions. her nails, when left alone by her fretful team, are uneven from physical work, sometimes ridden with dirt and she has a bad habit of biting them down to the tender skin. after the fire, the new skin ﹠ nerves, she had to build them up all over again -- infinitely more painful than the first and second time but worth it all the same.

5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?

okok my biggest one is that writing about something is always better after experiencing it, for ex living in a specific city or getting zooted. like my perspective on the latter changed so much after i'd actually done it (w my friends whose reactions have also been super inspiring lmao) & now i write it so much better. so now there are so many things i won't write about until i actually go through them bc i don't wanna cheapen/tarnish/dilute(?) the idea until i actually live through it so that it comes out as close to perfect as possible. (like by experiencing this Thing ill KNOW its intricacies and nuances and ill be able to write them with all the oomph they deserve) its so stupid but i literally won't do it

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

yeah!!! literally yes!! its not insightful margin notes its just ideas i remember/link to the writing but yes i do it. my books are well-loved and it SHOWS & i love ppl who have books like that bc its sort of like getting to poke at someone's thought process, like how they read and what spoke most to them and just how they exist in general (like someone who dog ears vs someone who bookmarks) etcetc i believe it says a lot ab someone's character. however i despise sticky notes bc they remind me of studying for ib bio&ib english. hard no from me. anything else tho is very <333 !!! (&and i love creased spines.) the only sign of wear on a book i don't like is when the sides of pages get all wonky(?) idk how to explain it but it looks like the book was put in a paper shredder for a second then taken out.

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

from howl by allen ginsberg: who were expelled from the academies for crazy & publishing obscene odes��on the windows of the skull. discovered this one by watching gilmore girls lmao (literati my beloved) but anyway its important to me for two reasons: 1) im always thinking about the thin line between reverence and contempt for a work of art. like when does it cross from genius to psycho? when does the public stop respecting and admiring an artist's work and start to despise it instead? when does it stop being groundbreaking and become obscene? anyway that's my slightly skewed interpretation of this line & its v personal to me. 2) the academic world praises "revolutionary" discoveries but only when they're circles and fit into the idea of society as it is. anything that encourages ppl to think outside the box is immediately shut down which is so ick? idk if i explained this all correctly. anyway i love this line (this poem. i think it rewired my brain) & its one of the few bits of literature i actually have committed to my fish memory so

Sometimes I read something where a character is in dramatic/dangerous situation and think “hmm that’s probably not how a real person would react…”

But then I remember the time I hit some ice on a highway and lost control of my car going like 60kph, and rather than screaming or panicking I simply said, calmly and out loud despite being the only person in the car, “I’m going to crash” before hitting a concrete divider… and I realize that people really do react to stuff in weird ways and whatever the character is doing is probably realistic for someone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My birthday is coming up and I'm pretty sure my family is getting me a mic set! I've wanted one for a while since I like to read for my friends and I'd love to be able to record at a higher quality!! The entire film mostly centers around the actually wonderful human protagonist Koichi Shikishima (I fucking hate human characters in kaiju media it is a big deal if I actually like em) and how he deals with life + PTSD after his encounter with Godzilla in Odo Island when he (honestly understandably) decided to flee his duty as a Kamikaze Pilot during WWII

like with every japanese Godzilla film in existence theres a political message- and this one is one of the most BLATANT, with the constant jabbing at the Japanese government for not giving 2 shits about the lives of its people and anti-war messaging but thats just a given since this is a post WWII film

its essentially a depressing political drama in the form of a Godzilla film- I GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL FUCKING BAWL FOR KOICHI OH MY GOD, this film reeeeally makes you care about him and his found family in the form of Noriko (a woman he met after returning from war) and Akiko (an orphaned baby Noriko took in after encountering her dying mother)

every human character actually adds something to the film- every single one of them, theyre all likable, and they feel real

also... THE FUCKING GODZILLA THEME PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE CLIMAX AND THEN THE SUDDEN DEAFENING SILENCE AT THE PEAK OF THE ACTION- I CANNOT EXPLAIN IT WITH WORDS 😭 it was so mind numbing, my bones shook to its very core

just sending out a huge huge thank you to anyone who may still be here <3 i love you guys, and i am so grateful for you

i know i haven’t posted anything here in a long time :’) aside from general “life is stressful aaaaaa” stuff, i have simply fallen quite far out of the yoi fandom and stumbled harder into my other fandoms

anyone who may be subscribed to my ao3 account could have noted the posting of a new story from a different fandom! and it’s something i’ve been posting about a lot on my main blog, and it’s something that i am SO excited about because it’s a new kind of content for me, and my first time writing for this fandom! 

but trust me, i haven’t forgotten yoi, and i sure haven’t forgotten tbjae! i’ve just been having a hard time about it because i have changed a lot since i started writing tbjae, and i feel like it’s not quite the way i want it to be anymore. which has made any kind of effort to continue really disheartened, and that story is meant to be much lighter than i could produce!

i don’t ever want to drop it, it was my first real attempt at a longer fic (and longer indeed- it’s, what, almost 50k?? JEEZ) and i have promised to finish it. and i stand by that. but.

my new story takes precedent right now, because it is writing it makes me happy! and that’s what this whole thing is about!!

so i just wanted to stop by and tell you all this. because i hope to be able to regularly update that story now that my life-schedule is finally become more regular, and while i won’t be writing yoi for a while yet, i am still so grateful for all of our interactions and everything you’ve said and done for me!

His lips have a pronounced cupid’s bow and fuller lower lip. Heart shaped face with a strong jawline.

How about some headcanons of Robbie and/or Murphy? 💚

Murphy is so sweet and smart I love him :'')

He talks a lot about his mother so I like to think that he is one of the few students at hogwarts with Good Family Relationships and I am living for it. She just seems very supportive and she's probably also somewhat interested in quidditch.

So when Murphy's older and professionally commentating he often will send her tickets to events. And this little old lady will absolutely be living for it in the stands, going absolutely WILD.

Murphy himself seems pretty energetic to me, though he can pretty chill when he needs to. He'd be super good at maths and physics if he ever studied them (what on earth are wizard universities like... what happens when you lack any kind of sciencey muggle knowledge...) and combined with his more... expressive (as in... the sort of big personalities you expect from sort of media presenters I guess?) nature I feel like he is wizarding Bill Nye. Like if he weren't involved directly with quidditch he would be educating the generation and goddamn would he be good at it.

He's got a knack for charms and dueling, and he and Robbie are both absolutely Chaotic when they're paired up. Just rambly hufflepuffs with very strong emotions and little filter - they're definitely good friends but I imagine it's a little intense for everyone else involved, especially once they have a goal in mind.

HAYBURRITO I DON’T KNOW IF I HAVE ENOUGH WORDS FOR YOU!! you are still the only person from rpc that i’ve ever met in-person, because i have... trust issues and am Scared that things will be awkward when there’s no screen between us. but with you!!!! it did not feel awkward for a second! i loved you immediately, and when we hugged for the first time, i think my love for you expanded by like 500x. i can’t believe i’ve been calling you hayburrito since we were in i think high school? wow. the fact that we’ve gone through several life stages and still consider each other such good friends makes me feel... so warm. you are so kind and genuinely sweet and thoughtful, while also?? knowing exactly who you are and what you’re worth, and when people are being absolutely shitty and giving you less than what you deserve. i love that about you so damn much and i love YOU so damn much!! i’m never letting you go i’m sorry you have NO choice anymore!

  HE DOESN’T THINK HE’S EVER SEEN STEVE HARRINGTON IN UNIFORM BEFORE ,  even more so a cheap sailor’s one issued by an ice cream shop ,  the image appropriately jarring to look upon  &  prompting a double-take as the person in front finally steps aside with their sprinkle-drowned cone to let him ( finally ) approach the counter .  an amused smile tugs at his mouth ;  not that he has any particular reason to take note of the  CONTRAST  in wardrobe ,  not that he knows the ins  &  outs of what the other wears on the regular as opposed to now beyond impressions  &  notes from afar  ——   not that he knows much about Steve Harrington at all .

he just knows he helped both his  BROTHER  &  one of his best friends fight off an inter-dimensional monster ,  &  that’s enough to chase away the sudden apprehension trying to settle thick on the back of his tongue .  instead ,  he forces himself to stand a little straighter  &  meet the other’s eyes ,  unsure if his recent line of thought ( unspoken / thanks / GRATITUDE ,  a simmer ) is shown through his own but trying not to mind that either .  ❝  um .  hi .  ❞  for a brief ,  intimidating moment ,  he wonders if Steve would even recognize him ;  it’s not like they’ve had a plethora of interactions to work with ,  mere passings ,  brief  &  hardly memorable ,  but it rather quickly evaporates after he remembers his face was plastered all over newspapers for an entire week or so not nearly as long ago as he’d like with words like  MISSING  &  BODY FOUND  &  BACK FROM THE DEAD  attached to it .
