I tried but not very hard to see what the anniversary date was, and i decided to just prepare myself for the 16th or the 18th... it was the former. so, as always, but this time truly by accident... happy belated 17th birthday Black Butler!! I truly hope this year is amazing for us.

this year, I decided to use an idea I had wanted to try for a while but I never thought I would be able to pull off. and I still probably couldn't in the best way.... but regardless, here is a made up last chapter scenario.

random note about king on that animation, i got really lucky with how simple his animation was and how clean my sketches were to begin with that i was able to do very minimal cleanup on what i had sketched (and add back. his horn. it's supposed to take place just after echoes of the past, Oops) and call it done that way instead of having to redraw the entire thing like i had to on his dad

first sketch > line cleanup > nearly final animation (i'd added slight eye movements last-second but otherwise that's the final)

I AM NOT AN ANIMATOR I AM JUST A HOBBYIST... #i animate like once a year... shits hard man.... but apparently when i do animate. its extremely good :) proud of that #even if i have an extremely unhinged way of animating #i don't have an animation program i draw everything individually frame by frame in photoshop #each character had their own psd file with the same background and every frame was its own group. twice. one for sketch one for colors #i do test takes with gifcam (there are literally 55 WIP gifs in my documents folder rn) by switching between layers and taking a 'frame' #and i compile in blender's video editor and to move things separately i save each character's frame in its own .png 'cel' #so luz was her own 'cel'. king was his own 'cel.' etc. and then i have to manually slide the lengths of the frames around #to match the right framerate. traditionally animation is animated at 24 FPS on 2's - so 12 frames a second. i go on 3s. 4 to slow down #anime-ass framerate. i'm insane apparently but its what i like to do #i dont understand real animation programs they have too many pieces but i DO understand photoshop and my funny brushes #imagine having Digital Programs and Still basically doing ye olde traditional animation method just in the computer #if im Just making a gif then i only use gifcam and switch between layers. like digital stop motion. somethings wrong with me

There’s this TikTok account who’s whole gimmick is like, posting DDLC facts everyday until there’s a ‘new DDLC game’, and people are so mean about the technicalities of that in the comments, they’ve explained countless time that they mean Project Libitina, and they still keep getting comments by people who think they’re being smart by pointing out that there’s not gonna be another DDLC game, like. They are having fun posting about a media they like. And also people are like ‘Your gonna run out of facts DDLC isn’t a big game’ which I’m like. Wrong. X. Buzzer. I still learn new things about DDLC and I’ve been an active fan of the game since December 2017

I know this fandom is capable of nuance because I see plenty of in-depth discussions about severely morally gray (more black than gray tbh) discussions of characters like IDW Prowl and IDW Megatron. So I know that the reason people don't talk about IDW Optimus isn't because they're not capable of taking an interest in complex/controversial characters.

At this point I'm literally convinced that it's just bc what the fandom wants Optimus to be is a dumb himbo team dad (and the malewife to whichever character they ship him with). So because IDW Optimus can't be simplified into a silly himbo or shy sad uke twink, and his character writing deliberately asks the question of "is Optimus a good person and how much do good intentions matter compared to the harm caused along the way" instead of making Optimus the Unquestioned Moral Paragon of the series, people react by utterly shunning and refusing to acknowledge or write about IDW Optimus the same way they're willing to write about other IDW characters who are far worse than he is.

That, and most ppl haven't even read the comics and so the version of IDW Optimus they think is utterly an asshole, is a caricature that only exists in their own brain constructed from out of context comic panels of him and nothing else lol. Like when people see the panel of OP beating up Prowl and going "omg he's evil" ignoring/not being aware of the fact the reason he did is bc Prowl tried to kill an entire planet of people. As just one of many examples. Bc god forbid people actually read the comics and see why he made those decisions in context, let's just cherrypick the worst incidents with zero explanation and act as if that's the sum of his character
